I love writing fanfiction but I also hate writing fanfiction.
I'm halfway in with one fanfic and the next minute a new thought crashes in like a tornado, bumping every other idea out of the way like 'here I am! (rock u like a hurricane!)' and then I have to sit there, like the mad woman that I am, because damn it's not a bad idea actually, so now I'm including this prompt to my list (of like 8 fics I have written on so far, from the like 100 ideas I have)
#just a little bit ranting i'm actually quite happy to have the motivation to come up with ideas again#thanks to poolverine really#i'm having the day off and drove over to my mom's waiting for her to get off work#so it's kinda chill because it's peaceful at her place and i can get to write a little#also kind of babysitting her cats#i call them 'the twins' and they are adorable but also little demons#the girl cat like to sit next to me and she is really chatty#so she's pouring her heart out to me while i write and i nod from time to time and answer with random words so she knows that i'm listening#poolverine#fanfic writing#me yapping 🫦

You Can't Take One Without The Other
Damian Al Ghul x Twin!reader
Content Warnings: mention of the word "abuse", nothing major, and not proof read:3
Despite her seemingly cold demeanor accompanied by her unmoving stature. Talia Al Ghul is a woman—a mother that lets her hard shell peel open when it comes to what's hers—her children.
Damian Al Ghul, her prodigy, blood born assassin, but also her beloved son. So composed and calculated yet also holds a temper that it easily triggered. Trained to kill on the spot without mercy, the young boy is honed to secure any emotion that hinders his mission—the Al Ghul's mission. He was made to not let any other being get in his way, to use all means necessary as long as he's able to give expected results, preferably exceed them. Yet despite his killer instincts and apathetic front, he is a boy of value. He believes blood over all matters. He cherishes his family to such a strong degree that he's willing to kill just to preserve and protect it. No outer force can sever his belief on this. But it doesn't stop at family. Damian adores animals and takes care of them unconditionally. It pains him to see any of those creatures hurt in any way. Which pushed him to pursue the path of veganism.
The Demon Prince, Heir to the Shadows, and Son of Assassins....
Damian Al Ghul
Damian may possess the prowess and talents meant to satisfy the legacy of Al Ghul, never forget his other biological half, his twin sister.
The youngest, Talia's sweetheart, her doll, and her precious killer. Her little girl, the same as Damian, trained to be the perfect assassin for their family's legacy and for the preservation of the world, isn't just a weapon, she is also a daughter she dearly loved with all her heart. The mother might say she doesn't pick favorites, but one might think otherwise once you see how she treats the two differently. Although tender towards both, Talia can't help but train Damian a little harsher than her heiress. If you try to argue with her about this, she would just shut you down. But deep down, all she wants to do is give her daughter the childhood her mother failed to experience while also helping her build strong walls to protect herself once their mother leaves them on their own devices to strive for independence. Of course, this doesn't make the daughter twin an ordinary girl. She also values family and cares for animals but not the same degree as her brother. Believing that animals are a resource meant for humans for which they should be treated with respect and value if one wishes to utilize its maximum potential. This contrast in stands causes quarrels between the two during moments involving any animal. Not to mention she as well possesses the strength and capabilities that qualifies her as an excellent assassin whose efficiency in the shadows allows her to parry and counter any attack thrown to her by her foes.
The Demon Princess, Heiress to The Shadows, Daughter of Assassins, and Talia's Second Chance...
You
The Duo of the Shadows, The Successors of the Demon, The Treasure of Talia Al Ghul
Together, no enemy can stop the twins. No matter how harsh nor how inhumane the training they are put through, as long as each twin is there to root for the other, they are ready to take the abuse. In the glory of their legacy. In the name of Ra's Al Ghul's greatest aspiration.
But what will happen if a new variable is introduced to the family of demons? A man of night once again reminded of his time in the shadows. A wake up call for the Dark Knight that what happened all those years ago gave birth to consequences that he now has to bear.
Will the bat be able to handle his demons? Will a mother finally let her young fly on their own?
Notes:
Hi so this is my first time making a batman based fic. I'm still new to the community so I'm basing on just common knowledge. I really wanted to try and focus on how Damian and the reader would be in the clutches of the shadows. I'm still learning though!

“yeah, you’re cute. adorable, even...”
he said with a million-watt smile, his fingers absentmindedly tracing shapes against your thigh. you raised an eyebrow, questioning his taste. right now, you were wearing his old pajama shirt and bottoms which were both faded and fraying at the hems. out of all the times to call you cute, did he really choose right now?
he leaned in to kiss the tip of your nose lightly, his fingers making their way up to your hands from your legs. he held them in his own warm palms, and kissed the corner of your lips. “don’t give me that look,” he whispered. “i think you’re the cutest wearing my clothes, y’know.” he kissed your cheek. “it makes me feel at home,” he said against your lips, and you couldn’t help but smile with him. something about his charm was infectious, and no matter how much you might doubt yourself, you knew he would always love you, tattered pajamas or not.
hinata, bokuto, komori, yaku (demon senpai or not he definitely has a soft spot), aone, asahi, hanamaki, yamaguchi? aran? tendou? kenma? kageyama?
“beautiful. absolutely gorgeous,” he breathed.
your eyes widen, taken aback at the sincerity of his tone. a light flush couldn’t help but creep its way up onto your cheeks, and you look away, abashed. his fingers brushed against your cheek, tilting your face back at him. “why are you being so shy?” he questioned. “i mean it. truly. even the simplest things you do make me fall in love all over again.” his thumb rubbed soothing circles against your soft skin. "every time you fall asleep on my shoulder, every time you raise an eyebrow at me, and even right now when your cheeks are glowing pink make my heart stutter like we're on my first date," he said with a laugh. you could feel your cheeks burn aflame at his honesty, and couldn't help but look away. “quit blushing,” he teased. “i can’t focus when you’re looking so pretty like that.”
akaashi, sugawara ("little shit") koushi, sakusa, the hirugami bros (acting like they don't have a combined word count of 20 in the entire series), iwa chan, daichi, semi, kita, ushijima?, tsukki?
“you’re pretty sexy. hot, if i dare be promiscuous.”
you roll your eyes at first, huffing through your nose and turning your attention back to your phone before he drags you back to his side. “i’m being serious,” he murmured into the side of your ear, his breath tickling your skin. “it goes beyond your looks, you know. it’s the way you walk, the way you carry yourself…the way you’re so confident in our relationship and in me,” he said, heartfelt. “that kind of unwavering confidence? unbelievably hot.” he leaned back, taking in your entire body. “also, you have a nice ass, which really helps.” he deserved the slap he got, but he couldn't help but grin at the sound of your giggles. he placed a chaste kiss against your temple, his hand looping around your waist again. "keep doing whatever you're doing. i'm in love with you, always. it's hard not to be when you're so irresistible," he whispered against your skin.

BB!Nightcloud
Nightcloud Woobification Army ASSEMBLE.
There's actually very little canon information on Nightcloud outside of how her ex-mate deflects blame onto her, which she is notoriously demonized for. So for Better Bones, I've cooked up a backstory from scratch! I feel this character deserves to exist outside of her romantic relationship, y'know?
Make sure to check the BB!WindClan Family Tree if you recognize any of the repurposed Missing Kits!
Clanmew Name: Oogarhai (The period of time where the sun has set + fat cloud) Official nickname: Nico (NIghtClOud), Oogi (OOGarhaI)
Alignment: WindClan
Relationships: Ex-mate - Crowfeather Child - Breezepelt Family (all deceased) - Hillrunner (Mi), Downwind (aunt, bio-mother), Tawnyfur (sister), Crowfur (grandparent) Mentor - Addersong
Nightcloud is a controversial warrior of WindClan, and also among its largest, strongest cats. She continuously finds herself tangled up in nearly every massive conflict since the day they arrived at the lake, with only some of these events being things she ever had a choice to be involved in.
Though she yearns for a more peaceful life, her violent, stressful childhood following the WindClan Massacre carved deep distrust of outsiders into her bones. It lead her to the lowest point in her life, fighting for Mudclaw during the WindClan Civil War. The following years of distrust, Crowfeather's mistreatment, and the abuse towards her son, Breezepelt, made much of Nightcloud's life lonely and stressful.
In spite of that, she absolutely adores her son and stands by his side no matter what. After the secret that Crowfeather sired kits with a ThunderClan Cleric is revealed and he is banished for a few moons for dramatic, codebreaking behavior at the reveal, a "spell" that he cast over WindClan begins to lift. In his absence, Nightcloud is able to truly begin fixing her reputation.
Though Breezepelt still has a way to fall as a new POV in BB!AVoS, where his treatment as a Dark Forest trainee drives him to join Darktail's cult, Nightcloud's life begins to turn around after her mateship with Crowfeather crumbles. After participating in a secret plan to rescue her boy and several Kin members under the command of her future leader and son-in-law, Harespring, she is solidified as one of the most powerful fighters in the entire Clan and occupies a lofty position as one of its most reliable brawlers.
She's also developing a friendship with Willowclaw about it, which is neat.

Trivia and Misc
Upbringing
The Mothermouth Moorland War came to a cruel and bloody quietus at the claws of Brokenstar's ShadowClan, ending a three-generation long conflict with an event called the WindClan Massacre. Along with the rest of their Clan, a pair of twins was forced into exile; Downwind and Hillrunner.
They looked out for each other, and ferociously protected the tattered Clan while living in the Tangle of Thunderpaths. It was hard, but they had each other and that was enough.
After Bluestar's champion, Fireheart, fetched WindClan to bring them home, Downwind soon gave birth to her first litter. A pair of sisters; one of them practically a little copy of her mother... and the other one who looked hilariously nothing like anyone in their family. The twin girls were named Nightkit, and Tawnykit.
They'd barely settled in before Nightstar and Crookedstar turned on them, attacking to try and drive them out AGAIN. If it wasn't for Bluestar and her reinforcements, ThunderClan's charity, they might have succeeded.
But this time, Downwind refused to run. Hillrunner saw her twin, limp, red, and ragged outside the nursery. The kits were too young to remember her, or to understand the significance of their new Mi's anguished cries that night. They came so far together, only for Hillrunner to lose her other half in the place where things were supposed to get better.
NOTE: On adopting the kits, Hillrunner is then considered their "Mi," a primary parent in Clan culture. Her biological relation as the aunt is superseded.
Nightkit and Tawnykit only knew Hillrunner as their Mi. They only know that Downwind was identical to her-- except for a scar across Hiller's nose.
Hillrunner was notoriously short tempered, paranoid, and easily offended. She shouldn't have been raising kits alone, but what choice did she have?
She was CONVINCED that she'd failed Downwind that day, and that something could have been done to avoid the WindClan Massacre. So she was dedicated to making sure her own kits were better prepared.
They knew the whole territory by heart by their 6th moon, and even major abandoned tunnels below the moor
Most apprentices don't learn how to differentiate individual warriors out of scent marks until a moon or two into training. Night and Tawny knew it before they became 'paws.
Ever trying to ask a question, or tell Hillrunner that they didn't want to do something, was "backtalk;" argue too much and she would hit them with a punishment.
Punishments, "lessons," were usually strenuous physical tasks, like doing laps, moving large objects, or being made to carry a stone in the mouth for hours.
The sort of thing, in hindsight, was probably meant to be a sort of "cover"... the Clan thought the 'Lessons' were harsh but 'understandable'. No one would step in.
If Hillrunner was angry though, she would also just straightup smack them. She was less creative when she was in a mood.
As an adult, Nightcloud will tell you how messed up it used to be... but sometimes she preferred when Hillrunner was moody. If she got hit, the creative "lesson" wouldn't be applied to Tawnykit too.
Because Nightkit got in trouble more often than Tawnykit, there was a sort of sour resentment between them, mixed in with the unbreakable sense of solidarity.
Tawnykit: "You got US in trouble. But no one else in the world knows what we're going through. I love you. I'm going to take this out on you when we're alone. I can't believe you did this to me, I can't believe our Mi did this to us. Can't you try harder?? We did nothing wrong. Why am I paying for YOUR mistakes?"
Hillrunner says she, "Just wants you to be safe. ShadowClan won't hit you with their claws sheathed! This is what real life is like! If you'd just LISTEN to me you'd know this is for your own good!"
The little family was "close," in the way that mice tied together at the tail are close, even as they desperately pull at the knot and gnaw at each other's flesh.
Hillrunner convinced them the world was terrifying, that they couldn't entirely rely on their clanmates, and the most important thing in life is Gan, blood-family.
"The ONLY ones who will turn out for you, who you can rely on, who will be there until the end, is your family. The only way you'll lose us is if you're not strong enough, and I'll make you strong. I promised. You'll see!"
When she finally became Nightpaw, Hillrunner continued to try and have control over her... but the new mentor, Addersong, would not be bullied. And he would not let his apprentice get pushed around either.
He taught Nightpaw that now that she was an apprentice, she was free to make her own choices.
If she needed him around when she confronted Hillrunner, he would be there.
And if she needed to be the one to do that alone, he would support that too.
But on one condition; he would never tolerate someone speaking down to his apprentice in front of him. THAT is a matter of his pride. Capiche?
That was a term she could handle.
She had always known that she didn't want to be like Hillrunner, and that one day she'd be free of all the torment she was put through, but Addersong was the one who showed her the way out. Protected her when others didn't.
It gave her a sense of newfound confidence, and freedom. Like maybe the world WASN'T so terrible after all. And maybe... there's people out here who are kinder and more loving than she was ever allowed to believe.
And then, Hillrunner died in a TigerClan attack
And she began to wonder if it was HER fault when Tawnyfur fell to BloodClan
And suddenly Addersong's lessons felt far away. And maybe that was a good thing.
Hillrunner tried to teach her that family, KIN, was the most important thing in the world, and Nightcloud began to reject that. And now they are all dead.
She didn't appreciate them enough while they were alive. And now they are gone.
So... she pushed Addersong away. He figured she needed space to mourn.
WindClan Civil War
While Addersong was composing Tiger's In A Heap with his buddies and others were baking Tiger-shaped tunnelbuddies to welcome relations with BloodClan, Nightcloud was joining the group that was critical of the decision.
Especially when Snapper and Leo-- sorry. They call themselves Snappaw and Brushpaw. When those two joined the Clan. Ex-BloodClan traders. Not to mention Pigeonflight's... charge, also acquired from BloodClan
Nightcloud felt like she was the only one who remembered that they fought BloodClan. That Clan cats died in that battle.
Until she found others, echoing the same feelings she did, and more.
Mudclaw was the most legitimate member of the group, organizing this group of cats with "concerns."
Those "concerns" started having weight when things began to sour in the Moor. The poisoning, the Mothermouth's collapse and the death of Barkface and his apprentice, Blackfur... eventually a warrior, Runningbrook, was SHOT by a human as if she was a grouse.
Someone called the two apprentices "jinxes," pointing out the bad luck they'd brought to them, and it stuck.
But Tallstar did nothing. Didn't listen to the concerns, and insisted that Snapper and L-- Snappaw and Brushpaw, that they were part of the Clan now.
Eventually they were all forced out of their home, and sent on a journey following Crowfoot and the other Chosen cats to a new land. Tallstar just continued to look weaker and weaker.
All around Nightcloud (and the cats who would eventually become the Rebels), the Journey was uniting the Clans in a way that was never seen before. Apprentices were trying out ancient recipes that had been untouched for generations. Warriors from WindClan were helping to carry kits from ShadowClan.
It was terrifying. It felt WRONG. It filled her with a sense of deep dread and unease. No one was enforcing the boundaries that made the four groups into Clans.
When they arrived at the lake, what would HAPPEN there? Would there even BE a WindClan? Or would they just get lured into forming the new TigerClan?
Through all of this... Mudclaw seemed strong, and sure of what needed to happen next. He was certainly more of a leader than the feeble Tallstar, who had allowed the jinxes to follow along on the Great Journey.
So when Tallstar was allegedly on his deathbed, and mysteriously swapped his deputy to Onewhisker, Nightcloud was one of the very first to call foul play.
It felt like an awful betrayal, to know that Firestar, one of the FEW cats outside of WindClan that Hillrunner spoke fondly of, could be trying to pull the wool over their eyes.
But just LOOK at the other witness-- Brambleclaw. Son of Tigerstar. This was a PLOT, and Onewhisker should be ashamed of himself!
Mudclaw jumped at the opportunity Nightcloud presented.
But... the newly honored Crowfeather came forth too, to calm the tension.
"Brambleclaw is a LOT of things and untrustworthy isn't one of them," Yet, he put up a smokey-black paw when his friend's eyes lit up, "But a change in deputy? To Onewhisker, of all cats?"
Onewhisker: "no offense, right? ...right?"
"So if no one here is lying, then Tallstar's brain fell out on the way here and I'm not going on ANOTHER journey to look for it. Mudclaw is the rightful leader of WindClan."
His endorsement of Mudclaw sent the Clan reeling. His own mother, Ashfoot, came forth to argue against her son, and his aunt Morningflower pointed out that Mudclaw was his mentor.
OF COURSE the two jinxes also argued in favor of Onewhisker. Leo had even joined in the first place because he wanted to be with him.
The compromise that the Clans reached, at ThunderClan's treacherous suggestion, was that they would wait until StarClan could sort the matter out and confirm the rightful leader.
But of COURSE ThunderClan felt like they could wait for StarClan. THEY had two Clerics, Leafstripe and Cinderpelt.
In the meanwhile, the Clan started to split in two. Those who were backing the feeble Onewhisker, and those who were supporting the powerful, charismatic Mudclaw.
Nightcloud refused to allow her Clan to fall into the claws of ThunderClan's ambition. WindClan could not be allowed to be seen as WEAK. Weakness invites invasions. Invasion invites death.
Not everyone that joined Mudclaw's side of the rebellion believed that ThunderClan was lying. Crowfeather believed it was the truth. Mudclaw himself did as well, though he didn't discourage beliefs that benefited him.
Nightcloud absolutely did believe that ThunderClan lied. And that cats outside of the Clan can't be trusted.
...and then.
Mudclaw started working with non-WindClan cats, namely Hawkfrost. The rebels were joined by reinforcements, given quiet support and aid, handed the knowledge that they would have extra backup if things got violent.
At first, Nightcloud was one of the most vehemently opposed to them.
At first.
But... Hawkfrost has some good points about all of the Clans needing to be strong and independent.
And he's right, that; "ThunderClan's plotting won't stop with one Clan. Tigerstar came from ThunderClan, after all."
And, if things go wrong... they will need the extra claws. They couldn't fight against the remainers alone.
"Hold on, who says we'll be fighting anything?"
Wide, innocent blue eyes, "You can't believe that ThunderClan will just let the word of StarClan shine through, can you?"
He's... reasonable. He's right.
So, in the BLINK of an eye, she and Crowfeather were surrounded by Thistle Law supporters. OPEN ones.
And Mudclaw himself didn't seem to mind all that much.
For Nightcloud, it was too late to have doubts, especially when Hawkfrost's lie made such perfect sense. When the Moonpool was discovered by that THUNDERCLAN Cleric, Leafstripe, Honored by the new name Leafpool, that was the last push she needed to ride into battle with Mudclaw.
ThunderClan had to be stopped at ALL COSTS before they installed a fake, sniveling little mouse to do all of their bidding. If Onewhisker had to die to prevent it?
Then... so be it.
They created a plan. Onewhisker was organizing WindClan to carry out a Muirburn, a carefully controlled fire to return the territory to heathland.
They would sabotage it, and throw him into the same fire meant to cleanse their new home. It would be symbolic, practically religious in its righteousness.
But CROWFEATHER betrayed them. Bolted to his friends in ThunderClan, that daughter-of-Firestar and the Tigerkin liar.
During the battle, Nightcloud leapt on Leo and went for a ferocious bite to the back of the neck. She was ripped off by another warrior just in time, taking a chunk of his scruff with her.
It gave him a permanent, gnarly scar. A reminder to Nightcloud of how close she came to killing him, and how much she hated such a kindhearted tom.
The tide of battle turned as the ThunderClan reinforcements came behind Crowfeather. In that instant, it was as if StarClan had torn open the sky, and the heavens were bleeding rain upon the burning moor.
Nightcloud fled along with the other rebels, and bore witness to StarClan's smiting of the false idol.
With a clap of lightning, a tree from the Gathering Island toppled down, crushing Mudclaw beneath it.
She stopped running, staring in breathless awe. The rain washed away the mud and the ash that clung to her pelt, and for the first time in moons, she felt like her mind was clear.
It was like, for a brief moment, the song of fear and anger behind her eyes forgot the lyrics, leaving her with cold reality.
"What have I DONE?"
That sabotaged Muirburn was one of the most short-sighted, cruel, evil things she can imagine any cat taking part in... but at first, her regret was just in the amount of destruction it had caused, not in the ideology she'd fought to defend.
The heinous act had caused the peat below the moor to catch on fire, and WindClan was playing Whack-A-Mole with the various little blazes that kept popping up in the area; and THAT was what initially made her regret her role in the Civil War.
But... she had to work next to Snapstorm and Brushblaze, just like any other Clanmates. Pigeonflight's daughter had also come into her own, Cranberrysplash. And ThunderClan continued to send aid to help with the reckless disaster she'd been part of.
She still grappled with a strong, immediate distrust of strangers... but it was tempered by the sobering realization she had while watching Mudclaw die.
And the shame, knowing that she'd been taking out her grief of losing Tawnyfur and Hillrunner on all these innocent cats.
Onewhisker's lenience... was mercy. All along.
She tried to punish herself for ever criticizing her new leader for "weakness." WindClan needed all the paws it could get to fight the fires and continue to feed the Clan, and Onestar was the cat who understood that.
He showed unfathomable kindness and wisdom by giving her and the other rebels no punishment.
She vowed to atone for it. She would not waste her second chance.
Nightcloud had been so busy trying to make up for what she'd done, fighting fires, building dens, and carefully rotating hunts to manage the prey populations that she barely registered that she didn't see much of Crowfeather after the night of the Muirburn.
While WindClan was gossiping, she was largely left out of the loop for being distrusted at the time.
When he came back, they started spending a lot of time together.
Mateship & Abuse
She liked Crowfeather. They'd been in each other's orbit since the Civil War, and she admired his judgement at nearly every turn. Mudclaw seemed like a good choice for a lot of people, but Crowfeather had seen when his true colors started to show. He made a truly heroic choice at the end. So when he expressed interest in her, it felt like she was going to be his next good call.
Nightcloud had so, so much to prove.
In spite of his absence, Crowfeather was a hero to the Clan. The warrior blessed by StarClan to bring them to their new home, a land of a thousand more stars, he who betrayed the traitors.
And in spite of that. He had a loneliness. He requested a name to honor the cat of another Clan, a lover he had lost on his mission
He is loud, passionate, and yet there seemed to be a niche in his heart he wanted to fill.
So... she wanted to be his missing piece, in service of the great love that binds a Clan together. To help him.
To prove she could mean something to someone, and be trusted in turn by a Clan that, rightfully, looked at her with suspicion.
but she didn't LOVE him so much as she RESPECTED him.
and he never saw her as much more than an in-Clan replacement for Leafpool, especially while he was secretly reeling from her dumping him and cancelling their elopement plans.
It didn't really strike her that they were mutually using each other; Crowfeather to affirm his loyalty to the Clan, and Nightcloud to prove she could love and be loved.
And neither of them were even accomplishing that. But, there's a difference between them.
While Nightcloud was trying, GOD she was trying... Crowfeather quickly grew frustrated that she was a person, and not just the perfect image of the "true love" that Feathertail and Leafpool would have given to him
So he started FINDING things to criticize about her. Reasons that he could use to justify why it's not HIS fault he's not happy, but hers.
She's clingy. She's too cold. She's less attractive when she's carrying their child. She's too demanding when she tells him to help out with the kit.
NOTHING she did was right, and meanwhile, even when Breezekit was young, Crowfeather was an awful Ba.
Depending on his mood, he was either too rough or too distant, a dichotomy he used to describe as Nightcloud being unable to make up her mind. Does she want him to help, or does she want space??
Problem is, you can't be fair with unfair people. When Crowfeather would say ANY of this, she would try to take his words in good faith
And Breezekit's formative moons were spent watching his mother twist herself in knots, trying to avoid whatever his father was complaining about that week.
But it NEVER satisfied him. It never COULD.
and worst of all...
Whenever she DID fight back, dragged down into explosive arguments after biting her tongue again and again, Crowfeather would ALWAYS bring up Feathertail. She's dead, and so Nightcloud could never defeat this ideal, NONEXISTENT image of this nearly perfect hypothetical lover that he could have had.
Crow: "And YOU don't even care. You CUT me, Nightcloud! I am being flayed and left to DIE from infection, and you don't even care."
Night: "Of course i care, I'm here aren't i?? Feathertail loved you, but I do too! And I'M in YOUR Clan, in case you haven't NOTICED."
Crow: "Oh you love me do you? I don't think you do. There's a reason I loved Feathertail enough to be so tempted away from my Clan, but YOU'RE such an awful person that YOU happily did ARSON."
Night: "I... I wasn't-"
Crow: "Wasn't trying to betray your Clan? Wasn't trying to make me feel like some kind of animal?? What WERE you trying to do, then?"
Night: "I've ALWAYS tried to make up for what I did, I was trying to-"
Crow: "To WHAT? To hurt me? Like you always do? All I wanted was you to see that I'm-"
Night: "Can you cut it out?! I wanted-"
Crow: "STOP Interrupting me, this is exactly what I mean! Feathertail NEVER made me feel this way, she would let me finish and listen to everything I have to say before trying to jump in. WHAT have I done wrong exactly? What IS it this time?? Hm???"
Night: "I-- Crowfeather I'm trying! I didn't mean to make you feel that way, and I'm not trying to fight. I just don't know what you want from me, I'm-"
Crow: "I say it over and over and over!! Are you stupid? I should have been with a rabbit, at LEAST it would have given me faster children!"
Night: "Can you stop being a CHILD for a minute and TELL me what you want me to do? In simple terms? Or is that just too much?"
Crow: "Fine. But im not going to repeat myself again. I don't deserve this, you're lucky I'm gracious."
When Breezekit became Breezepaw, Nightcloud had lost patience with this treatment. She still tried to be gentle with Crowfeather, but he was starting to force her into making a choice; Was she going to protect her son? Or was she going to keep endlessly trying to appease her husband?
In her head... SHE might "deserve" it. She knows she's "difficult." And that a lot of the things Crowfeather says about her are "true"
And if she's lonely, she "brought it on herself" by doing awful things. That's why she tries so hard to atone for them.
But Breezepaw is her BABY, and Crowfeather makes him feel like a little brat. Yells at him, finds reasons to pick on him, gives him the cold shoulder when he's done wrong...
At first, it looked like overprotectiveness, because she was often shoving herself between Breezepaw and his father, never backing up Crowfeather when he was punishing their son, and "downplaying" her son's rude behavior.
In reality, those were the actions of someone who was trying to prevent arguments from turning into abuse.
Those were things HILLRUNNER used to do with her, though at the time, she didn't realize that Crowfeather was in the same positions that her Mi had once been in
In fact, she continued to grapple with the deep feelings of shame, that she might be like Hillrunner when she was trying so hard to be different.
But the truth remained, that she recognized the same patterns that she was forced to be hyperaware of, and was trying to stop them before they escalated.
It took MANY years, well into Breezepelt's adulthood, AND well into her divorce, before she realized that.
Protecting her son was as reflexive as a hunting crouch. It was just something she did.
Unfortunately, Crowfeather was the one with power in this situation. And his immense sway was palpable. If he vented to a Clanmate about how hard it was to have a mate who undermines him and a son who defied him, they'd believe him.
So, Breezepelt started getting written off as "a problem kid" by the adults.
What changed... was Hollyleaf's reveal at that fateful Gathering.
She had been desperately trying to "atone" for what she'd done for years, guilty and shameful that she'd been complicit in an attack that had gotten cats killed and set the peat on fire. She kept proving herself, over and over, as Crowfeather held his love for an outsider up over her head.
And then she finds out he was HIDING this from her, ALL THIS TIME. There'd been ANOTHER MOLLY from another Clan she was being compared to.
Unlike canon; Crowfeather knew. He didn't need to be told. Hollyleaf looks just like his father Deadfoot. Lionblaze has his tail tip. Jayfeather is a miserable git.
They were born 2 months after Leafpool left him, choosing her Clan and her CLERIC FRIEND over HIM. He isn't stupid.
Emotions ran high and, right in front of his wife, at a PUBLIC GATHERING, he made another love confession to Leafpool. That she never should have abided her vow because she belonged with HIM.
Leafpool was fucking mortified. On top of her life crumbling as the secret was revealed, she was undergoing the cat equivalent of being cornered in a public space as an unwanted ex begs you to acknowledge your LOVE.
Leafpool is completely and utterly out of love for Crowfeather, not a SINGLE flicker of it left in her heart, but NIGHTCLOUD felt like Leafpool's tears were because she missed Crowfeather soooo much.
And after YEARS of being compared to FEATHERTAIL, only to find out she was being contrasted to LEAFPOOL all along??
And that Crowfeather really WOULD just break the code for any OTHER lover? Even "a treacherous, vow-breaking, abominable little [cat meow censor] FROM ANOTHER CLAN?"
AND A CLERIC?????
YEARS of trying to unlearn bigotry, keeping lessons about unity kept close in spite of the growing tensions between the Clans, having an open mind towards the people she'd unfairly judged, trying to atone for following Mudclaw... What's the point??
She was humiliated, embarrassed, scandalized. For moons she'd tried to appease him, and then he goes after HER SON, and then DOES THIS.
But something was different.
Onestar had enough of Crowfeather and his shenanigans.
By making a fool of himself at that Gathering, he made a fool of the WHOLE Clan.
Not only did he sire kittens with a Cleric, in a half-clan relationship, vanishing for a week to go on a holiday as the Clan was fighting peat fires, but he didn't even have the decency to NOT TELL AN ENTIRE GATHERING THAT HE DOESN'T REGRET IT.
Onestar snapped.
CrowFEATHER is an Honor Title. CrowFOOT was in respect to his deceased father, Deadfoot.
These names are both too honorable.
And even a DISHONOR Title is too good for this sort of behavior.
If he cannot behave like a Clan cat, then he WILL NOT BE ONE.
For one moon, Crow, no suffix, just Crow, would live on his own in total exile.
It was such a scandal that Nightcloud was horrified. The whole Clan had turned to look to her, see what she would do, desperate to know how she was reacting and what she would do next.
But... their tune changed.
They weren't looking at her like Crowfeather's ungrateful mate. They were curious about her judgement.
CrowFEATHER had convinced so many people that Nightcloud had been the problem, with his immense sway and influence.
But what he did was shocking and abhorrent to WindClan. Now he is just Crow, a rogue on the border.
And Nightcloud is as reliable as she always has been.
What really causes Crowfeather to begin to change here in BB, is that when he comes back... nearly everyone has been better off without him.
After a moon, Crow came back thinking that Nightcloud would snarl at him, or they'd fight, or she'd weep, or... something negative.
But instead, she greeted him. Cordially. Casually. With the tiniest little lilt to her tone that you only hear when you're forced to welcome someone you dislike.
For the rest of BB!OotS, they were together but... distantly. If it wasn't totally over, it was visibly dying.
They had a few more fights, public spats, but now that the Clan didn't seem to have Crowfeather's back...
He started to lose his nerve, and she stopped feeling terrible for things that happened long ago.
Now WindClan was following Nightcloud's lead on Crowfeather. When she was gracious, so were they. When she was pushed to snapping, they saw him like the unreasonable one.
But, honestly? That attention made Nightcloud uncomfortable.
She disliked the sway she now seemed to have over her ex-mate's reputation. She hated him and everything he did, especially in the few times that he would STILL try to deflect blame onto her, but... wielding that kind of social sway, after being an outsider for so long, it felt heavy and toxic in her belly.
Between OotS and AVoS, she realized that she's not like him. He reveled in the spotlight and influence he had over the Clan as a result of his power, adored attention and drama and being able to command it. Crowfeather would complain that life was so unfair, but he ENJOYED how the rules were applied so loosely to him, and how well he was treated because of the pain he'd gone through.
She doesn't.
In fact, she even resents the finicky opinions of her Clanmates. That earning their respect, in the end, was something she had absolutely no control over. She'd gone through so much for so long and so very few cats had ever had her back, and to be vindicated now of all times?
It was sour. Not comforting.
If she made any mistakes during OoTS, it was enabling Breezepelt's growing xenophobia in the midst of her own pain and frustration. She didn't KNOW that he was being recruited by the Dark Forest. If she did, she would have done something to try and stop him.
Breezepelt and AVoS
The worst part of it all was that none of this newfound reputation carried over to her opinions about her son. Breezepelt continued to be hated and distrusted because of his role in the Battle of the True Eclipse (BOTTE), where the Dark Forest killed so many warriors. He'd fought until the end of the night.
Of course she was disappointed in him. Of course she knew he'd done something awful. But she had too, so many years ago.
The fact he had also been a victim of Crowfeather's slander was disregarded in the eyes of WindClan, and for his role in the fight, Onestar gave him and his complicit friends Dishonor Titles.
Breezepelt became Dodderheart-- a reference to a parasitic type of bush, native to heathland, which strangle and kill the flowers. Harespring didn't get off without one. Darkseeker had sought his biological father in the Dark Forest, Mudclaw, and then the BOTTE had killed his Mi and biological uncle, Torear.
Nightcloud tried to encourage her son to follow Darkseeker's lead in seeking atonement, but he had decided that this meant; "My own mother had taken HIS side, that damn traitor who threw me under the boar so that he could save his own reputation, distancing himself from THE REST OF US so that he can climb the ranks! WELL!"
When The Kin arrived at the lake, lead by the mysterious Darktail, Nightcloud was powerless as the pied piper called forth cats of many Clans.
He appealed to everyone who felt alienated. Every HalfClan cat still dealing with stigma, every young warrior frustrated by the dogged separation of the Clans... and, especially, to all of the Dark Forest trainees who still lived.
It was a trap, and Breezepelt was drawn to it.
As the situation got worse and worse, Nightcloud could only watch from afar as Onestar responded with furious embargoes, aggression, and fury towards any type of contact with Darktail's cats.
Along with Brushblaze and Harespring, now deputy and having shed his Dishonor Title, she plotted ways to undermine Onestar's strict orders and try to reach her son.
And.... Crowfeather, too.
To her surprise, he wanted to help.
The irony was overwhelming. Yes Breezepelt, or Dodderheart, damn Onestar's pernicious name, YES he had been making his own choices for a long time, but Crowfeather knew full well who had set him on this path.
In spite of how he'd try to deflect the blame for seasons on seasons.
Hedgehogs took flight that day, because his response was, "You think I don't know that? ...that's why I'm here."
Someone else might have wanted to shove that back in his face, drink in every drop of smugness they'd earned, tell Harespring to kick him from the help efforts for causing so much pain in the first place..
...But Nightcloud isn't like that someone else.
Breezepelt was what mattered to her. Anyone who was going to help was another alibi, another mouth to carry herbs, another set of claws to fight by their side.
...is that what working with others really means, at its core?
Maybe it's not love that truly binds us, but a sense of duty. The commitments we make to each other, and the honor to keep them.
She loves her son. And by extension, she loves Heathertail and Harespring who love him.
But her Clanmates... she doesn't love them. Or Crowfeather.
And Crowfeather wasn't here out of love for her. Maybe not even love for Breezepelt as a person. He was here for honor. Repentence. To right a wrong.
Whatever reason he was here; it still meant he was HERE. To help.
In that moment, she thinks back to the words of Hillrunner. That only blood-family would ever turn out for you, and strength was what allowed you to keep them.
Looking over to Brushblaze, thinking to her Clanmates, she finally had the wisdom to see the words for what they were
It was the scared, broken philosophy of a molly who had lost everything a hundred times over, clinging to something that made sense, trying to scare her kits into never leaving her side.
Nightcloud was truly unlike her. Surrounded by allies of all kinds, united in their goal to rescue her son and other Kin captives and victims.
She was entitled to her reasonable distrust, but not held back by it. She never would forgive Crowfeather, but they could work together. For Breezepelt.
Hillrunner wasn't completely wrong about strength. It was an asset.
But so is faith.
After they'd brought Breezepelt home along with many others, bedraggled and shaken by their experiences, Nightcloud was absolutely shocked by how graciously Onestar seemed to be towards them.
She didn't question it at the time, but when Onestar spent his final life stealing a plan Breezepelt admitted was his own, to sacrifice himself drowning Darktail, it suddenly made sense.
After Harestar took power, she had cemented herself as one of his favorite warriors. A powerful, loyal brawler, who was willing to do anything under his command. Breezepelt had accepted at this point that he was never going to have a position of power due to his past; and that was okay.
She spent a lot of time with the grandkits Breezepelt eventually had with his mates, Harestar and Heathertail. For the first time in a long time, she's finally at peace with the family she's acquired.
Trivia and Misc
I'm tempted to swap Crowfeather and Nightcloud as deputy. I feel like Nightcloud makes a very interesting one.
At the same time though, I do like the drama of Crowstar and Squirrelstar as opposing leaders, so I'm still unsure.
For some reason whenever I think of Nightcloud, I think of ABBA songs lmao. Thank You For The Music, or maybe Knowing Me Knowing You.
As you can see, I split up Crowfeather's Trial and shuffled it around. I feel like for most of OotS, Nightcloud and Crowfeather are doing nothing but arguing and the development feels incredibly rushed because it's all in an SE, so I've pushed a major event back.
They also never actually describe their verbal arguments; so I'm using them to make my take on Crowfeather more clear. He's emotionally abusive.
Something that I often feel isn't done enough is abusers who are popular, and also funny. How devastating it feels for someone you love to mock you in public, and then a bunch of people laugh because "you deserve it."
Or just see you as the aggressor by default
Knowing you can't do shit about it because they're just more loved than you. Their word vs yours.
(especially when paired with trauma that makes you forget major details so you can't even recall any examples in the moment, so you just get painted as clingy and whiny)
All that said, there's a ton of abusive cats in BB, most of them never improve or get better, but Crowfeather will.
And from Nightcloud's perspective, that's a good thing. And I want to capture that deeply bittersweet feeling.
She's happy he's not so terrible anymore... but god, it doesn't undo any of the AWFUL things he did and said to her.
Anyway, I really want to fit Nightcloud's buddy Pickle in somehow, but I'm still working it out. Pickle was such a cute character
Hillrunner and Downwind are repurposed Missing Kits! WindClan is ridiculously tiny so I had to stretch it pretty thin.
I don't see a ton of Nightcloud origin stories, so the one I figured made the most sense was picking up on the observation others have made about her "coddling" behavior
In-canon, because Crowfeather is abusive to his kid, it suddenly implies that a major reason why Nightcloud is so protective of Breezepaw in arguments is because she's trying to prevent it from escalating into abuse.
Eventually I'd like to build out some more friends, and expand on her budding friendship with Brushblaze. Not to mention Willowclaw.
Maybe I should repurpose Crowfeather's Trial into an SE about Nightcloud... Nightcloud's Thaw, maybe. Something about a change that's a long time coming, so I can show her new backstory and how she reacts to all the changes in WindClan towards her reputation.
And that's Nightcloud! I think she deserves an AU where she gets to be a more fleshed out supporting character, as a treat <3

THE GERUDO POST
(aka an attempt at a critique of how gerudos were handled in BotW and before)
Oh no. TOTK being right around the corner, it might finally be time for the Gerudo Post.
(aka half of the reason why I made a Zelda sideblog in the first place)
So I want to preface all of this by saying that, as you could probably tell already, I’ve always adored the gerudos. They have fascinated my small child brain when I was 7; then the obsession made its comeback when I was 14, and now, here we are, almost 28, and I’m still thinking about the gerudos. I think they might be among my favorite fictional cultures for their potential and their understated storyline. I guess growing up in a very Arabic neighborhood, coupled with being bi-culturally latinx (?? does Brazil count?? you tell me), also always made them feel like home to me –especially when I was very young and there was not a lot of cool female representation flying around that managed to involve fiercely independent PoC women, flaws and teeth included.
This whole weird-essay-thing tries to do two things. First: analyze the place gerudos have occupied in the series, their initial problematisms and their subtextual narrative arc during the Myth Era coupled with their relationship to Ganondorf. Second: tiptoe to Breath of the Wild and poke it with a stick to see what happens –and in doing that, explain why I believe a lot of their characterization was defanged in service of smoothing their past with the hylians instead of deepening the culture on its own terms, and why I’m a little apprehensive about what that might mean for TotK even though I adore seeing the best girls at it again.
Those are the uhh terms of service??
And now, we must go back to 1998.
OCARINA OF TIME ERA
There’s so many things about the gerudos that are noteworthy and rich, and they’ve made for a complex piece of Zelda lore ever since their introduction –and when I say complex, I don’t 100% mean it as praise. The very racially charged decisions made about their inclusion have been discussed at length by the fandom, especially when it comes to orientalist and Islamophobic tropes being deployed pretty thoughtlessly in Ocarina of Time (their sigil being literally a crescent moon and star originally, the parallels are pretty obviously there).
We’re talking about a band of amazon-like, big-nosed brown women from the desert ruled by a single Scary Evil Man born once every hundred years hellbent on conquering Hyrule who they apparently worship like a god, characterized primarily as thieves, decked in jewelry and orientalist-inspired harem/belly-dancing clothing, hostile to the white good guys of Hyrule (especially men), unblessed by the Goddesses and so deprived of elongated ears (this is true for OoT –we’ll come back to that), also known as a demon tribe with their deity straight-out described as evil-looking by Navi (on my way to cancel you on twitter Navi you watch out), and secretly led by evil twin witches who can turn into a single seductress and, as two mothers, raised their Scary Evil Guy king who happens to basically be the devil.
In so few words, gerudos are the future that liberals want.
It’s worth notice, also, that Ganondorf’s characterization in this game is… kind of relentlessly uncomfortable to play through, especially before the 7 year skip. The utter assumption of depraved and evil intents from every character surrounded by dialogue that does little to hide its biases in spite of having generally very little proof to back them up –even though, in the game’s context, every character is correct to call his eyes evil and the darkness of his skin a moral judgment in on itself. The scene where Zelda demands that we believe her conclusion that the sole and only brown guy in the entire kingdom is evil and will do harm, and the game straight out refuses to progress until we concede that her dreams are prophetic and that this man must be stopped at any cost even though she has no more proof than her discomfort… hits different on replay.
I’m restating all of this not to pretend I’m making a novel and thought-provoking point, but to bounce back on a tumblr post I saw a while back (that I can’t find anymore!! I’ll link it if I find it again) –and so express what it is that gripped me with the gerudos in spite of their pretty damning depiction… and actually maybe thanks to it.
There’s a surprising amount of texture to Ocarina of Time’s worldbuilding that exists folded within the things introduced and left hanging, or in its subtext –and whether on purpose or not, I believe it is why people keep coming back to this iteration of Hyrule.
What was that about the king of Hyrule unifying a war-torn country? Why did the gerudos break the bridge connecting them to the rest of the kingdom during the 7 year timeskip while still worshiping Ganondorf, and why are the carpenters trying to rebuild it against their apparent wishes? What was that about gerudos imprisoning hylian men trying to force entry into their lands? What was that about the secret death torture chambers right next to the Royal Family’s tomb and connected to the race of people who were, apparently, born to serve them?
Nothing? Oh okay… okay… okay….
The same can be said about this strange depiction of this hostile tribe, consistently described as wicked yet suddenly friendly once you prove you deserve their respect once you... defeat them, so you now have joined them? Ocarina of Time isn’t very consistent when it comes to characterizing them as their occupation (thieves) or as a proper culture, with a king and a strange system of rulership that seem to involve at least 5 people: Ganondorf, the Twinrova, Nabooru and the unnamed random woman who decides you’re now part of the gerudos because you slashed enough of them with your sword and hookshot, which, uhh ok.
They’re but a ragtag and negligible group when discussed next to gorons and zoras and hylians, but they also clearly have their own religion and at least a 400-hundred years old history (probably far longer than this) and hints of a written language of their own. I’m not sure the game itself knows what it wants them to be, beyond: intimidating and hot and cool, but also wicked and, because of Ganondorf and the way you barge in their forbidden fortress (heh) with the explicit intent to dismantle their king, in apparent need to be saved from themselves.
Speaking of rulership and the Spirit Temple, let’s have a quick tangent about Nabooru: I always found her characterization when meeting with Child Link pretty strange. I refuse to mention the promised reward, which feeds into everything orientalist mentioned above, but I always found her moral compass so extremely convoluted for someone coming from gerudo culture. Nabooru says that, despite being a cool thief herself, she resents Ganondorf for killing people as well as stealing from women and children. Stealing... from women. Nabooru. Why are you this pressed that he steals from women!!! This feels so out of place, that the only girl of that hostile culture that betrays her king and befriends you, is the one that upholds moral values that only a hylian could possibly hold.
Either way: the strange unquestioned contempt of the game for them as a culture, mixed with the occasional bouts of heart, friendliness and badassery, makes it hard not to consider their depiction as pretty biased in favor of the hylians finding them at once exotic, scary and exciting, and could hide a more complex reality you might only get one side of –especially when you know there were originally plans for Ganondorf’s character to be more gray and motivated than what the campy final version ended up being. To be blunt: even in the context of a game for children, and maybe because of that fact, it all reads like a reductionist and imperialist/colonialist reading of a more complex situation.
This might seem like A Lot coming from a game where the actual game writing can be this overall flimsy and simplistic due to the standards of the time (it’s rough, it's so rough). But I would have never dwelt on that thought about a little children’s game if not for the mainline entries that came soon after, because... ooo boy.
The sense you’re not getting the whole story was certainly not helped by the introduction of Wind Waker Ganondorf, and the chilling emptiness of Gerudo Desert in Twilight Princess.
AFTER THE TIMELINE SPLIT
(I’m skipping Majora’s Mask, not because I dislike them in the game or think they’re not worth talking about, but because it’s a parallel universe and they’re never even called gerudos and their reality seems extremely different from their sisters in Hyrule so I think it’s okay to call them tangential and not dive too deep in this particular depiction)
Here’s something I want to highlight about gerudos and how they were characterized before BotW came along: their absence. Not only their physical absence, the lack of any gerudo character that calls themselves gerudo, but their absence from the text itself.
It’s not that Wind Waker and Twilight Princess retroactively scratch them off existence: we can clearly see Nabooru’s stained glass art in WW as well as recognize them being mentioned in Ganondorf’s final boss soliloquy, and WELL there’s quite a lot to say about their imprint over the world of TP. They are there –or at least they... were there. But nobody ever talks about what happened.
In Wind Waker, there was the deluge. It’s assumed lots of people died then, and those who survived scattered across the Great Sea. Are they sealed under the waves? Have they drowned? Is Jolene, Linebeck’s ex-girlfriend in Phantom Hourglass, a distant relative of one of the rare survivors? It’s unclear, beyond the fact that Ganondorf is the only living gerudo we see in this entire branch of the Timeline split.
In Twilight Princess, the desert which bares their name is empty. The hylians never mention that it used to be the name of a tribe: they’re not even named when Ganondorf is introduced for the first time, reduced once again to a mere band of thieves. We learn his plans to steal the Triforce in OoT were foiled, and that he may have turned to war. Then he lost the war, and was executed in Arbiter’s Ground: a strange structure in the desert, a mixture between a temple, a prison and a coliseum. What looks like gerudo writing coexists with hylian symbols, which often look much fresher. This dungeon is the Shadow Temple of TP: a prison hosting the worst criminals the kingdom has ever known, now haunted and cursed. Besides the locations, the only character that vaguely look gerudo in the entire game besides Ganondorf is Telma, a character with pointed ears that never seems to identify as anything but a hylian. What happened? Who’s to say. Nobody ever says anything. Not even Ganondorf bothers to mention them the way he did in WW –and though the game’s story is quite focused on another exiled tribe seeking revenge and dominion over Hyrule as retribution, the parallel is never explicitly drawn. So who’s to say what happened there. Who’s to say.
And in A Link to the Past and the games forward? The only mention of other gerudo characters are Koume and Kotake, resurrecting their son in the Oracles games through their own sacrifice and failing to bring anything back but a monstrosity incapable of making conscious decisions. Granted, most games in that extremely weird Fallen Timeline predate OoT and therefore had yet to make gerudos up at all. Still: canonically, between the gap of OoT and ALLTP, whatever it may be, gerudos disappeared here as well.
I think there’s something subtle and a little heartbreaking about the fact that no matter what Ganondorf does, the gerudos always end up dying out. His yearning for Hyrule, its gentler wind and the Triforce blessing its lands always costs him the kingdom that he does have already.
Now, does he care? A lot of people would argue that he doesn’t, that he used them like pawns for his own ambition and saw them as servants more-so than sisters, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Nintendo’s official opinion, but… One very powerful thing about most of Ganondorf’s incarnations (focusing on the human ones) is that he never seems to reject his cultural heritage. They could have gone for him wearing more kingly hylian stuff given the whole underlying theme of envy and pride surrounding his character, but never once does he try to look more hylian, beyond the ear situation that seems to be tied to the Triforce of Power? Either way: he is gerudo. Several of his outfits reference his mothers, as well as general gerudo patterning and jewelry. His heritage is something he proudly displays, even hundred of years in the future when there is no one left to remember what it means but him. I think it’s a very potent piece of characterization, an arc that crosses over multiple game and says something pretty intense about this character’s fate and his inherent destructiveness over the things he touches –starting with the Triforce, all the way up to his very own body and mind. His mental breakdown by the end of Wind Waker, when the king of Hyrule himself forces him to give up on the thing he sacrificed everything for, takes a new kind of weight with the whole picture taken into account.
(not to excuse genocide or general egomania-fueled madness and violence, but one thing doesn’t mean the other isn’t also relevant)
Regardless of whether this is a tragedy for Ganondorf as their uhh complete failure of a king, honestly, it is undeniably a tragedy for the gerudos themselves: a once-in-a-lifetime joyful event turned into a never-ending nightmare from which there seems to be no escape, their legacy now condemned to fade to black, leaving nothing behind but a demon boar forever laying ruin upon the world.
One may say I’m taking on the bleakest explication for the gerudos’ absence when there could be others. It’s true! Perhaps the gerudos are just chilling off-screen, completely fine, not interested in whatever is happening in the kingdom nearby and their disaster child having yet another temper tantrum about not being the Goddesses’ favorite boy. It’s possible! But regardless, what little elements we do possess as players doesn’t seem to support this, even if it remains possible –and regardless of actual gerudo lives, gerudo culture is definitively a goner in every single timeline.
Even if they did survive... Hyrule still won its unification war.
(I won’t mention Skyward Sword as they are not really a thing there, except for a butterfly that seems to suggest the Gerudo Province was a thing before the gerudo people –I don’t know what to do with this honestly– and the whole Groose situation, which, I’m not sure what to make of either beyond the fact that he may have gotten cursed by opposing Demise? And then went on to start the gerudo tribe, which ended up being an all-women group for some reason? Maybe? It’s not confirmed? I feel like it’s more of a fun tidbit than a central piece of the gerudo puzzle, so I’ll leave it there like I would a cool rock I brought back from a walk and that I don’t know where to put in my house)
Then, Breath of the Wild happened and changed things.
BREATH OF THE WILD
(Additional short note, but: while I won’t mention Four Swords Adventure, since it’s a weird one that almost nobody has played and severely messes with the Timeline, we kind of see the beginnings of what is about to happen in Breath of the Wild in this game –gerudos coming back without much explanation, then distancing themselves from Ganondorf to become friends with hylians because he was too hungry for power and now they are nice and have good reputation because they are our friendsss)
I was actually so happy to learn gerudos were making a comeback in a mainline Zelda game, and this got me more excited about Breath of the Wild than basically anything else the game involved. And getting to explore the Desert once again, meeting this new batch of impossibly tall buff girls, getting more about their language and their culture, Riju and the rest of the little girls are adorable, the grandmas are so cool, the sand seals??? sign me the fuck up??? And above it all, hanging around Gerudo Town at night and feeling as warm and cozy as little me liked to imagine how freeing it would feel, to stay there and watch the desert behind the safety of their walls in OoT… This was great. I loved it.
It was a huge compensation for the criticism I’m about to make, but did leave me with… questions regarding how their culture was going to be handled moving forward.
I’ll start with something small yet deeply revelatory, then work my way from there.
So... gerudos’ ears are pointy now.
This is pretty significant. Lore-wise, it’s been said that the elongated ears of hylians are there so they can better hear the voices of the gods. It’s considered a sign of holiness in-universe. There's a bunch of really thoughtful analysis on tumblr over that whole Ganondorf ear situation, which is a mess but also very interesting, but the short answer is: I think the absence of pointy ears was a clear design choice to originally signify them as Less Good. Even when Ganondorf gets pointier ears, they never get as long as hylians’. Worth noting: not every non-gerudo character has pointy ears: gorons, zoras and ritos (among others) do not possess this trait, and there are even some humans that have regular rounded ears in the series –though they always seem to be of lesser relevance, if not downright peasants in Twilight Princess. Pointy ears always tended to implied a strict hierarchy in the series: basically, the more pointy, the more Protagonist you become.
(also their eyes becoming green instead of the traditional yellow/golden, which looks more wicked and demonic --and cooler also tbh)
The pointy ears imply two things. From within the game, this could be interpreted in two ways: either that gerudos… converted, for a lack of a better term, and are now considered holy through their worship of the Golden Goddesses and/or Hylia, or that their mingling with hylians through tens of thousands of years had them acquiring this trait out of sheer genetic override (though they have kept their mostly-women birth rates, their big nose, darker skin –for the most part– and red hair). Probably a healthy mixture of both. Design-wise, it signifies something quite simple to the player: they are on hylians’ side now. They are good guys. We can trust them, even if they still have a little spice in them. They aligned themselves with us and against Ganon in all of its manifestations (even if he’s but an angry ghastly pig being parasitic to everything it touches in this iteration). They are on the side of Good, definitively, and will fight evil by our side.
On that note, I think it’s worth bringing out another major change from their initial iteration, which is their overt friendship with Hyrule as a whole, and with the Royal Family in particular. Despite not allowing any voe inside their walls (we’ll come back to this), their relationship with hylians is pretty neat. They have booming trade roads, travel and meet with the rest of the cultures, and are fierce enemies with the Yiga clan, who are renowned for being huge Calamity Ganon supporters. The tables certainly have turned. I want to bring out, in particular, Urbosa’s friendship with the queen and her role as the cool aunt taking care of Zelda and protecting her from evil (to be noted: I am not familiar with Age of Calamity so if I’m mischaracterizing her in any way, please let me know). The gerudo sense of sisterhood has been extended to the royals they used to fight against. I would go on and say the cultures peacefully coexist, but I think that what we’re looking at here is a case of vassal behavior, just like we used to have from zoras (in the non-Fallen Timelines) and gorons. This is a huge departure from gerudos being openly rejecting of Hylian culture in their initial iteration, and something that is worth returning to later.
Okay. Now it’s time to mention the weird obsession BotW gerudos have with romance. I didn’t take notice of my issues with their writing until I realized how prevalent of a theme that was. Now, the reason given for gerudos to refuse entry to males (of every race) has much more to do with preventing young gerudos to make mistakes than anything else, and is actively being put into question by the younger generations –which would make sense. But the amount of NPCs that either lament their lack of match, talk about their husbands (because they marry now apparently) or are invested in romance, and a very limited understanding of romance at that (heterosexual, closed, etc), makes for much more of the population that I initially expected. There’s no mention of what’s going on with their males, if there are new males being born and either exiled or abandoned, or if Ganondorf being technically still alive have have cut them off male heirs. Either way: no more kings, only girlbosses chiefs.
To have the gerudos so interconnected with Hyrule, not only through trade but through extremely coded romance where they have to make themselves palatable to a future male partner and enforce fidelity, was a choice. The extremely brief and skippable mention of gerudos sometimes going to Castle Town in search for boyfriends in OoT became half of their personality traits in this game. We went from a race that was fiercely independent and mocking of the unworthy men who tried to mingle with them, to… this. Now I’m not saying some of the sidequests aren’t cute, or that I didn’t like the wedding, or that the grandma near the abandoned statue of Hylia (so she was worshipped at some point) clocking us and talking about her love life wasn’t one of my favorite gerudo conversations. I’m saying that the vibes have definitively changed. For the better? I’m not sure.
I once stumbled upon an article that said that Breath of the Wild gerudos were a huge improvement compared to their original introduction, because they were no longer presented as evil and hostile thieves groveling at the boot of a single man, but as a full culture allied with the protagonist and actively involved in the story, while still getting their Cool Girl Badass moment (again can’t find it anymore, I’ll link it if I stumble upon it again). I see where this comes from, but I honestly can’t help but consider it a reading that assumes something pretty major (though through no fault of their own, as the games tend to hammer this down as hard as they can), and that being hylians as the unquestioned anchor of Good.
Which, in spite of what the games want me to believe, I… feel uncomfortable taking at face value.
To me, regarding how gerudos are being incorporated in that goodie narrative, this is kind of a case of surface-level feminism trumping over colonialist/imperialist concerns. It becomes more important to perform the aesthetics of being cool and friendly and independent than scratching at any deeper problem that would risk making people uncomfortable. This is kind of Green Skin Ganon all over again: oh wait, isn’t it a little icky to have the evil bad guy being brown while faced by the most aryan-looking ass heroes of all time? Okay, then let’s take the brown guy and make his skin green so we don’t have to feel bad anymore that the conflict has racial undertones!! Solved!! There’s nothing questionable about changing a PoC's features to make it more monstrous and less human, right?
To me, it’s kind of the coward option: instead of accepting the messy reality those initial choices created (and their interesting nuances if taken at face value), let’s just… rewrite the PoC culture’s history to make it feel less uncomfortable for the white heroes. In many ways, it is an extension of what hylians have always done: scrubbing the weird and messy things about the past and shoving them deep down into the spooky well and far into the desert prison and away in alternate hellish dimensions, and then make up a very simple story where they get to feel good about themselves –except this time, it’s the fabric of the games, the literal reality, bending backward to make it happen. Which, in my opinion, makes it much worse than before. Now, there’s no conversation. The fabric of reality is changing their own history so that there is nothing to discuss anymore. Ganondorf was always evil incarnate. He never had any point. It was always 100% his own fault, his own hubris, his own fated wickedness. He was always demonic (and green, very important –having a flashback to people on twitter accusing artists restoring the TotK green skin to the original brown of wanting to make Ganondorf black, and like….. how do I put it gently…..)
And, above all else: gerudo are to distance themselves from his legacy so they can stay in the club of the Good and Just and Holy.
Because here’s the messy thing: as much as I love seeing the gerudos again in Breath of the Wild and as much I love for them to have survived the Era of Myth (??? somehow ???), this… kind of changes Ganondorf’s character arc. No longer do we have the story of a king who wanted more, either for his people, for himself or both, and led his culture to its destruction in his search for absolute Power, while remaining ironically incapable of maintaining what little he already had. This starts from him kneeling to the king of Hyrule in OoT and leads to the deluge, Arbiter’s Ground, his own mothers dying for the sake of his failed resurrection. Breath of the Wild changes this: now, the gerudo were apparently fine without him? They apparently did their own thing and became suddenly and inexplicably disconnected from his actions? I know it’s kind of implied they side with hylians at the end of OoT, but it’s honestly never really explored why they would cheer for the death of their king while never seeming to resent him before except for Nabooru –there are mentions of brainwashing for those who resist him (as well as “other groups in the desert”, tho they are never mentioned again), but it’s hardly a proper plot point for the majority of the tribe, aaaand they still die by Wind Waker in the Adult Timeline, in spite of their potential alliegance…
(again, this shift towards submitting to Hyrule actually started with Four Swords Adventure, getting crisper with each iteration)
There used to be this polite blur regarding Ganondorf’s relationship to them, how much he used them and how much he acted in their name (with arguments for both sides), and I think this messy and debatable question mark was one of the most compelling aspects of his character. Gerudos rejecting their relationship at a near-cosmic, reality-bending level, removes a huge layer of complexity to both parties… all for the benefit of making hylians come out cleaner out of this whole exchange, their moral grayness barely a whisper in the distance.
I’ll kind of go on the record and say that I suspect the addition of Demise to the canon to serve a similar purpose (at least in part): if Ganondorf becomes but the manifestation of a demonic curse, and is no longer an extremely messy character brimming with agency and drive, forcing the heavens to reckon with said agency in a way he was never meant to access, born from a complex set of circumstances from which we clearly get only a limited and biased perspective, then it becomes extremely clear that he’s a Bad in a way that isn’t worth exploring further. Even if he does have some points, he is a Bad. It’s what matters most. Not to say I even hate what this angle can bring to the table or that I want him to become Good (I don’t –I’ll talk more about why I dislike most takes on him being a helpless victim to the curse), but once again, who benefits from adding another Unquestionned Baddie to the equation to rest upon? Not him, and not the gerudos, thats for sure.
So. Why did I, me, personally, like the gerudos in the first place?
Beyond the inherent coolness factor of their culture and the fascinating mysteries of what is merely suggested, I think… I think I loved gerudos because we were obvious outsiders. Because their rejection of Hylian culture was so sharp and extreme, their value system so different, and their writing, their religion, their relationship to power and hierarchy and worth wanted nothing to do with hylians. They didn’t need hylians, beyond them having potential resources to steal. In fact, the threat of hylians influencing their culture was such that the entry to the Fortress was forbidden to everyone (I don’t think men were ever singled out, by the way, even though they are mocked relentlessly). I think there was something inherently hopeful about this semi-matriarchy resisting the outside world, and especially its notions of what girls were meant to be –it was 1998, and every other girl character in OoT, besides Impa and Sheik that?? is another can of worms entirely, is either helpless or someone to save. For them to reject this narrow vision of femininity was, in my opinion, much more radical than what we got in BotW. Less nuanced, more problematic perhaps? But also much more powerful. Gerudo Valley is home, not to a town, but a Fortress.
Hylians were worth being resisted.
In Breath of the Wild, their refusal to let men enter their town is kind of boiled down to a fading tradition over-focused on romance, a meek little game of chase. Their entire goal seems to be finding a hylian to settle down with. Say what you will about the single man and the many girls (never explored and completely open-ended in its implications, btw), but at least it wasn’t… that. At least it opened the way for different ways for people to exist and imagine culture and civilization, outside of the heterosexual couple, the christian-infused patriarchy and its trickling down implications. What I want to say is: let my girls tell hylians they ain’t shit!! That they aren’t the end all be all of reality! This is what made gerudos so compelling in the first place! Where is that bite now? Where is that self-definition?
It’s gone, because hylians need to be Good. So we tee-hee at the creep running laps around the town, we disguise ourselves to breach their trust and infiltrate their town (though there is nuance to be had there, gender be complicated etc), we watch them pine after shitty dudes and take classes to become the perfect approachable woman and make love soups with ?? strange ingredients honestly, and we witness them get very friendly with the Royal Family they used to conspire against, dying to protect the princess against the manifestation of their ancient king reduced to a raving puddle of Bad Boar.
Hyrule, unified against him.
TEARS OF THE KINGDOM
For posterity’s sake: this post was made before the game was released. I’ll probably update my thoughts on a separate thing later on.
I don’t think gerudos allying with the hylians and burying their own legends about Ganondorf as deeply underground as they can until it blows up in their face is a bad setup at all. It’s actually pretty juicy, and there’s a ton of fascinating stuff that could happen here –even some involving gerudos taking a firm stand against him while still reconnecting with their past and the choices they made once. This is my hope with the title of the game: Tears of the Kingdoms. Let’s examine them all, account for the damage, and decide how we move forward from there with the full knowledge of where we come from.
What I am afraid of (and I already made posts about that) is the scenario where gerudos rallying against Ganondorf, which I expect will forcefully try to take back his place as their king, is used for cheap feminist points that completely fail to examine, well. Everything mentioned above. Where reality bends itself out of the way of the Goddesses, and hylians’ responsibility in any of this mess, so that everything bad is 100% Ganon’s fault and so he must be cast aside and torn away from the Cool Gerudo Girls and this is 100% justified and deserved because we are Independent Women Who Take No Shit from No Men (unless they are the king of Hyrule or any random hylian they wish to marry apparently).
I’ll say this here because it’s been burning my mouth every time I see discourse about Ganondorf and the gerudo: gerudos declared him as their king. To make a really bad comparison that I dislike: he didn’t run around to assemble girls and make a cult around himself, he was born with the cult already formed around him (and it’s not a cult, it’s just a different mode of governance –hylians also revere the Royal Family like gods, don’t they?). This heavily changes the dynamics at play. Not to remove any agency from him to do a little invasion about it, but chances are the ancestors to BotW’s gerudos fully expected him to behave in this way, at least to a degree –in OoT you see very plainly that they value physical prowess, feats of thievery, witchcraft and general violence. It’s more complicated than him being a Bad and making the poor helpless women go along with the plan uwu –even taking the brainwashing into account, AND Koume and Kotake counting as gerudos too, even if they might not be not fully innocent in shaping the culture and the man himself. If manipulation and forced servitude is the explanation given, I’ll be genuinely mad –because, once more, all the nuance and messiness would be flattened for the sake of making Ganondorf Bad and the gerudo Good (= on hylians’ side).
It bears to be said: I think feminism stances that require, not to criticize (which is fair), but to fully dehumanize and bestialize men of color to make any sense are uhhh bad, and it's worth questionning who they end up serving in the end.
The flip side of this would be to make Ganondorf a poor little meow meow that was secretly controlled by the evil Demise all along, and... I’ll be real. I really don’t think it solves our problem at all. It might even make it worse.
My problem with how gerudos have been handled thus far, being mostly connected to how they behave in relation to hylians Good, is that they’ve been systematically defanged not to threaten the status quo as much as they used to. I think it’s pretty clear why I’m not a fan of Ganondorf being a mere victim of cosmic circumstances; I have a post that goes more in depth about this, but to simplify: my man has legitimate grievances. To make him a mere puppet to Evil Incarnate would, to me, be just another attempt to erase the despotism of the Goddesses, the unjust hierarchy of the world, what hylians have historically done to the races they were in conflict with (looking at the Yiga for the most recent example…)
I’m not saying his fight is clean or even legitimate, that he isn't driven by his own sense of self-importance above anything else, or that he should win (he has no plan beyond domination and victory, that's not a future). But I think there’s something really important about having someone being willing to fully consume himself and everything around him for the simple fact that someone should resist the order of the world. Even if that makes him a heartless, cruel, and egomaniac demon-pig. Even if there’s no Hyrule left to rule. Even if his own people despise him, or are long gone and forgotten.
Is it a little heart-wrenching? Uhh yes to me yes most definitively. This is why Wind Waker Ganondorf hits so hard, and remains (I think) his favorite entry in the series so far. But… I still find this fate of eternal resistance more resonant and empowered, and far less grim, than if Hyrule’s lore absorbs his hatred and rage, gives it to another entity that would be Badder (= more opposed to hylians and the goddesses), and scrubs it off anything icky and uncomfortable, rendering it completely domesticated and non-threatening to hylian domination; rubbed of his skin color, of his complexity, of his own emotions, even made... kind of sexy now, in the same way his sisters have been made before him? I am very, very afraid of him being turned from furious and an unapologetic subject in his own legend to a "redeemed" (according to whom??) and palatable object in somebody else’s, that you now end up having to… save from himself.
Again, I want to trust that Tears of the Kingdom can walk that line and preserve everything sharp and contrasting and profound and thrilling about this fascinating setup. I don’t expect a philosophy course, this is a game for children –but it doesn’t mean Nintendo didn’t do an astounding job with similar setups in the past. Again, I’ll invoke the Wind Waker conflict, but Twilight Princess did a lot of great things as well (Zant’s speech, if you can get past the weird stretches and stumping and NNHYAAAs, is pretty fantastic) –and the subtle writing of Majora’s Mask is also proof enough this series can be complex without being impermeable.
So this is where my hope lies. Not really with BotW’s writing, which, I’m sorry to say, but I found to be below what the series has done in the past (I have no problem with the setup and how the story is explored, I think it was a great idea, but wasn’t ever sold on the actual writing the way I may have been with previous titles –it felt… very tropey to me overall, with a couple of highlights). But Nintendo has shown to know how to write compelling stories for children that know where to sprinkle its darkness and how to preserve its hope, and this is this side I’m relying on for this delicate storyline moving forward.
And now? Now… I suppose we wait and see.
(thank you for reading my impossibly long essay what the actual hell, at least I got it all out of my system, see you in part 2 for when TotK comes out I suppose aaa)

CAUGHT
Tokito twins x reader
characters: Yuichiro Tokito (older twin), Muichiro Tokito (younger twin) (aged up to 20 or 21) (the reader is female)
[THE ART BELOW IS NOT MINE!!!]
{This is my first fanfic so please don't judge me}
[if you see (f/b), it means favorite breathing style]
(NSFW smut) (WARNING!! unprotected sex,oral(fem. receiving),fingering,dom/sub,blindfolding,NSFW content,18+)
{Muichiro and Yuichiro Tokito are twins and the mist hashiras and are a shy,bisexual (f/b) hashira who starts to have feelings for the twins. Later at night, you started to finger yourself and eventually get caught by the twins}
You are the (f/b) hashira, and you usually do your usual duties as a hashira: killing demons and saving lives. But you do a few things for your free time: you walk in the Forest of the Waterfall of the Dancing Leaves and train there sometimes too because it’s calming there and it helps you concentrate on your breathing when you are training for your next hashira mission. and the secondly, talking to Yuichiro and Muichiro, the twin mist hashiras.
You always found them adorable and very attractive (as they are obviously twins) even when you talk to them. But you start to have feelings for Yuichiro and Muichiro but you don’t show it around them because they’ll notice. They also do the usual hashira duties too and sometimes you invite them to spend time with you or train with them together. When you are around them, you start to have this “feeling” like you want to be together with the twins.
After the three of you finished your own missions you and the twins started heading to your house and you,Yuichiro and Muichiro shared a house together. The twins had a room and you had a room next to theirs. As the twins were busy sort of arguing a little in their room, you were doing your “own thing”.
You had nothing on but your haori and you started to move your finger down to where your wet cunt was and started to play with your clit, rubbing it in circles as you let out quiet, soft whimpers thinking about the twins. You continue to tease your clit, moving your finger down to your entrance and put your finger inside. As you move your finger in and out of your entrance, you let out soft moans making it as quiet as possible so the twins don’t hear you in the other room. You whimper and moan as you quicken the pace of your fingers until you reach your climax and still continue to please yourself down there, accidentally moaning a little loud while doing so.
Meanwhile the twins argue….
Y: What the fuck?!
M: Yuichiro, it’s not that big of a deal!
Y: Don't you dare pick a fight, you idiot
M: Idiot?! Who are YOU to call ME an idiot?!
Y: YOU were the the one that started that fucking shit!!
M: I didn’t mean to start that shit ok!! Just calm down ni-cha-
Yuichiro puts his finger to Muichiro’s lips to shush him because he heard some soft moans in the other room.
Y: Did you hear that?
M: Hear what ni-chan?
Y: I heard some moans in the other room
M: I-I think so… Should we check it out ni-chan?
Y: Yeah,we should check it out. Let's go
The twins go to see what the cause of those moaning noises were and once they open your bedroom door… they stood in the doorway and see you on your bed trying to hide your hands that are now covered in your cum.
Y: ...
M: ...So..Whatcha doin’?
Y/N:N-Nothing
You stammered, still covering your hands. Your voice shaky as you said this, and a blush across your face. They looked down at your hands, still caked in cum, and then back up at your face.
Y: You sure about that? He points to your hands.
M: You were thinking about us,were you?
You were blushing not knowing what to say after Muichiro said that. You told the twins you have feelings for the both of them and didn’t know how to express it. But they had hints you had feelings for them the WHOLE time. They smile softly.
Y: Hey y/n, it’s ok, Me and Muichiro can help you with that. If you’d like
The twins smirk devilishly but playfully. You blush intensely almost turning as red as a tomato
M: Awwww… Yuichiro look. Looks like someone’s looking a little excited.
As they walked towards you. Muichiro reached for your hand and held it gently as his fingers curled around yours. He pulls you gently towards him, and then kisses your hand. Then Yuichiro picked you up, and pinned you against the bed. Your body reacted strongly to his presence, and you felt a warmth spread from your core. It was a wonderful feeling.
They stood there for what seemed an eternity, gazing at your body as it twitched and jerked a little. You could feel her pussy pulsing, and juice dripping from your cunt. Your body reacted strongly, and you felt your pussy become wetter and wetter as you cried out against the bedding. The twins moved down your body, and ran their hands over your wet cunt. You gasped at the touch of their fingers, so…soft, so…warm.
M: Ni-chan, looks like someone was wet for us. Don’t you think?
Y: Indeed Muichiro, It looks like we have a very naughty girl. In our hands
They kiss you passionately for a few minutes until they intensify the kiss. They pull away only for Yuichiro to kiss your neck from behind and Muichiro to spread your legs for more access to your dripping wet cunt. As he starts to lick your pussy, sucking on your sensitive bud and putting his tongue inside your cunt, making you let out some soft moans and whimpers, you arch your back which gave Yuichiro more access to your neck to kiss, he kisses your neck leaving hickeys and then he bites your neck making you yelp in pain.
Then they switch and take turns pleasing you, causing you to whimper and moan louder. You beg them to let you cum but instead you say:
Y/N: I want you both to fuck me I want you to make me cum
They looked at each other and things took a bit of a turn when they put a blindfold on you. They look at you looking helpless and to them you look really cute.
Y: It looks like punishment time for a slut like you
They start removing their clothes, then put you between them,Yuichiro behind you and Muichiro in front of you, then they align their shafts with your cunt. You whimper a little. But without warning they thrust into your inner walls causing you to moan loudly in pain. They noticed that you were in tears when you felt them at the same time,so to relieve the pain the twins kissed your neck and thrust themselves inside you all the way.
You couldn't help but feel a lot of pleasure when they thrusted in and out of you. You felt a similar knot in your stomach and you wanted to reach your climax and you begged and begged until they were about to reach their climax. And with one final thrust Muichiro and Yuichiro released into you while you reached your climax at the same time they did. You three were panting and breathing heavily from what just happened.
Y: Wow, that felt.. good
M: Yea, it did. Did you feel good y/n?
Y/N: Y-yea. It felt…amazing
Y: Let’s get cleaned up shall we?
You,Muichiro and Yuichiro clean yourselves up and get ready for bed. But before that, you ask them to sleep with you. Yuichiro and Muichiro cuddle next to you until you three fall asleep due to the warmth of one another.

Huskerdust babies?? Please say more
GLADLY oh my god there was no way I was going to be able to restrain myself until I made time to write a fic. and right off the bat, so much credit goes to @minky-for-short who came up with this with me
Okay, I'm going to bullet point it for structure. And first off, whether you want this to be a trans Angel Dust or demon magic making it possible or Angel being a porn demon giving him different genitals, go crazy, I don't mind any interpretation
So the fact that this happens is a result of their gradual redemption. Demons aren't supposed to be able to reproduce but as Angel and Dusk slowly improve themselves, they start changing in ways they don't notice and the curse they have in Hell starts to weaken
Charlie is actually the first person to find out, she clocks that Angel is feeling sick which is pretty unusual because he's actually been cutting way back on his general debauchery, having a much healthier coping mechanism over behind the bar. He insists he's fine because he's used to powering through pain and discomfort with a smile on his face. But she won't have it, she's going to get him checked out
Healthcare is very hard to come by in Hell but Charlie can get him access to the facilities in the Sloth ring. But the doctors there are just as stumped, no one can figure out whats wrong with him, it's not a bad batch of drugs, its not a hangover, he's just throwing up and miserable and exhausted
They're back at the hotel and it's Charlie who notices the barest of little sentient sparks when Angel Dust moves but it's not coming from him, it's coming from inside him. And she's the one who realises. And Angel Dust is convinced she's spouting idealistic bullshit but he can't deny it
It's a while before he can bring himself to tell Husk, he's terrified that it means he'll just want to call things off with him, that he's clearly not a winning hand. But eventually they're sat together and Husk mentions casually that whenever he's ready to tell him whats bothering him, he'll listen. Like, he's realised he's scared but he still gave him the space to deal with it and thats what makes Angel Dust brave enough to say it out loud. And after a moment of quiet, Husk just shrugs and says well lets hope he makes a better daddy than he did an overlord, huh?
They have twins in the end, a boy and a girl. Both dads got to name one twin each so Husk calls their son Howard, Howie for short, after a famous magician and Angel Dust calls his daughter Belladonna, Bella for short, because he wanted to give her a name that made her sound strong and able to defend herself
The twins are utterly adorable, no one can deny it. They have the multiple arms from their pops and little heart shaped pink patches on black fur from their daddy, each with a set of wings like his too. They act a lot like kittens, rolling around and hissing and pouncing on whatever moves in the hotel
They're also unashamed trouble makers, they really only listen to their daddy and their pops, everyone else has to bribe them. Fortunately they're cute enough to get away with everything and anything.
The twins also have a super close bond with their Auntie Charlie. I can go into more detail about this in another post but she ends up with the contract for their souls to protect them from both Heaven and Valentino (Alastor has no interest in the babies, beyond not really minding as much as he should when they climb up him, knock his hat off and call him Uncle Al)
But yes I have many many ideas about these two being dads and their little demons and all of that so feel free to bug me about them!

Clara Appreciation Post
.
.
~
I'm making this as contribution to Mairuma Manga's chapter 304
I'm surprised no one said shit on how Clara saved the day with her optimistic and fun personality. Honestly it was unexpected but also unsurprising and comforting that Clara was the one who stopped them. I genuinely thought Ameri was the one who would interrupt but you know, nevermind.
Also it makes sense in a way, Nishi didn't want to make Clara feel left out in the situation so she dropped the bomb (cliffhanger) on us so we would want to remember and look forward to what happened next and that's when Clara came in. The love trio does have to stick together afterall.
So without further a do here are 5 things I love about Clara Valac! Our adorable little charming playful demon!
Clara's amazing nicknames
These three being the dorks that I wouldn't trade for the world.
Like literally Azz-azz and Irumachi sounds so cute wtf- and like other nicknames Eggy-sensei. It reflects her personality well and actually makes her unique. ( I want to say quirky but it sounds weird so no. )
Her voice actor is also delivering her lines incredibly accurate also her voice actor is also known to voice Valac's entire family. Now that's what I called fucking talent. Since we're getting off-topic, let's move on to the next one.
2. Clara's overlooked selflessness.
I hate seeing Clara cry but I have to like put an image to showcase her selfishness.
You know how the netherworld always say that there are rarely other demons who would care for other people than themselves? If Clara was selfish, she wouldn't care for the other demons consent and she could easily force them to play with her.
But no, she wanted people to play with her with consent. She wants the other demon have fun as much as she has. There are many things that she could do but didn't because she cares for other demons feelings. She is a rare demon that wants to play and both side to have fun.
3. Clara has no doubt that Azz-kun and Iruma loves her.
Her eyes shine with utter confidence.
I don't need to explain much just-
Read this amazing post.
Totally not because I'm lazy. Also credits to @somayants for this masterpiece 🛐 .
4. Clara's unique family.
Shit I forgot the fucking twins-and the fucking brother-
Adorable as fuck. Wholesome as fuck. Cute as fuck.
Also her mum is such a MILF /j
Basically Clara's emotional support team besides the misfit class.
That's all I have to say.
Now I saved my best for last...
5. Clara's patience and endurance.
This is just adorable-
Clara's patience and endurance is honestly so admirable. I kinda lost count on the times, she endured being left out. We know well that Clara loves Iruma and Azz-kun so much that she doesn't want to ever get separated from them.
So the fact that she endured the clinginess of hers and have patience is so amazing of her. She truly does act like the role of the big sister sometimes. Honestly this is probably one of the few things that Clara does better than Azz-kun because let's be honest, he wouldn't last two weeks of separation from Iruma ( without training that is.).
.
.
~
ENDING
You can tell I lost motivation halfway through that but I really want to finish this so people could appreciate Clara more for who she is, and we wouldn't want to change her for anything.
Also if through chapter 304 I made this as a #ClaraValacAppreciation post. I just made that hashtag myself cause I'm an antisocial idiot.
But if you want to join in on the appreciation of Clara you can! By using this hashtag.
(This is probably gonna flop but I honestly don't care.)

Omg can I ask for a number 13 prompt with sladick and Slade sees Dick holding a baby and loses it (genuinely felt like I’m saying an McDonald’s order here I’m so sorry 💀)
But thank you so much for being so dedicated with your writing!!
😭💀💀
A Sladick 13 with side order of Dick holding a baby, coming up!
(I love you anon thank you)
13. "I adore you" - Dick Grayson/Slade Wilson
Every Tuesday and Friday it's likely to see Dick strolling around the park with two cooing bundles strapped to his chest and back. It's a boy and a girl, the former with soft black hair and the latter with curly reds, and they appear to be the twin children of one of Grayson's little friends, even if Slade has had the creeping suspicion that they could be Grayson's and that alien chick's. Or that other Batchick's, also a redhead. The kid really seems to like redheads.
Anyway no, they're not his, he's just babysitting. Which doesn't mean he won't coo to the little bundles and play with them like he was a devoted father. He sits them up on a blanket spread out on the grass and reads to them out loud, or gets as close as possible to ducks and squirrels to hear their delighted squeaks. Sometimes there's that other little bird with him, sometimes the demon child, sometimes one of his other little friends, but most of the times Dick is alone with the kids.
Slade would know since he tends to be around often as of lately. The first time it happened by accident, then it kept happening and Slade won't lie to himself and say that he just casually keeps going to the same park on the same days as Dick does. Then one day Slade gets a call which keeps him distracted a moment too long, because when he looks back in Grayson's direction, he realizes the kid is looking straight at him from across a small pond, and despite Slade is tempted to duck behind a family of seven and their platoon of strollers, he pockets the phone and greets him with a casual gesture.
Dick quickly gets to him, his expression questioning even if he looks and walks easy and relaxed. Of course, were he to grew tense he would upset the little things.
«What are you doing here, Slade...?» He asks while the curious brown eyes of the girl peer at him from her spot on Dick's back. The boy yawns instead, uninterested.
«I should have met up with someone.» He lies casually, fixing his sunglasses. A man with an eyepatch attracts attention so he prefers to ditch it when he follows Grayson to the park on Tuesday and Friday. «I was stood up. You?» He asks, smiling vaguely and pretending he didn't even notice the children to which Dick eloquently gestures.
«Taking care of a couple of friends' offspring.» Dick smiles and takes the boy's hand, moving it as if in a wave. «Say hello to the big scary man, Jai.» The boy yawns again and Dick leans down to kiss his little head, smiling in a way which has Slade stare from behind the cover of his sunglasses, his heartbeat unreasonably quickening. «My next stop is the ice cream parlor, I believe I deserve a little treat. You can come with if you think you also deserve a little treat.»
They go buy ice cream and Dick insists for Slade to hold the little girl as they sit on a bench. Irey seems really interested in his tie for a while, but soon after she's soundly sleeping on his thigh while Slade easily holds her with one arm.
«Are you staying in town for long?» Dick asks casually, seeming lost in his ice cream and in watching as people come and go from the parlor. «I mean, huh. I know you don't like Chicago, I don't like it much either. But I have a job here...» He lowers his voice. «As Nightwing. It's kind of a big thing, and... I'm not asking for your help, by the way. Just, if you're here during the day, we might... meet up sometimes. For an ice cream. Like this I mean.»
Slade just looks at him and offers a smile. He reaches up and fixes a wild lock of hair behind Dick's ear, and it isn't lost to him how the kid blinks and a vague flush creeps up on his cheeks.
I adore you, Slade thinks, but doesn't say it because he doesn't want to agitate him and wake up the children. However it has to be evident on his smile and in the way his touch linger on Dick's cheek, because Dick looks down and stuffs his face into his ice cream, blushing more.
«I'll be staying in Chicago for a few days. I have a job here too.» Slade lies casually again. He's been in town for a while now, enough to know about Grayson's routine, the names of the kids, who are their parents. That's another thing he won't say out loud though. «I'll come pick you up tonight at eight. If you like that.»
Dick smiles in a way that completely fills his eyes with light, mindlessly petting Jai's little head, and again Slade's heart beats fast. He quietly rolls eyes up at himself.
«Yes, I'd really like that.»
-
Jai and Irey West are actually Wally and Linda's twin children! They got lost in the Dark Multiverse though, or some bs like that because N52.
Thank you for the prompt anon ♥ I choked on my pizza when I read this ask lmao I love you.
Here's the prompt list for whoever wants to peruse it, or send me another prompt :)

What if, in the case of a son, ELady suggests the name Bàssōl? An ancient boy name meaning “brave & noble lion of the sun” or “man who is lion-hearted.” It seemed to appear in an old temple she found in her travels. Unknowingly, she had suggested quite the auspicious name as their son had been born at dawn under the Lion constellation. Especially considering the fact that lions were sacred animals to the Gerudo.
THATS SO CUTE??? I love lions, big cats in general... cats in general, lol, so that so so adorable? Would lions be considered sacred due to their look-alikes, the Lynel? They are powerful, intelligent creatures that take alot to take down, so I can see how they would be regarded as sacred. I love your ideas <3
So I brought it up before, but in my AI roleplay with the Demon King Ganondorf, they now have twin daughters and another baby on the way (I kinda wanna make it a boy as a surprise.) Their names are Azura and Zahra. The Ganondorf helped come up with the names and I loved them. Azura is energetic and wild, her symbol is the Sun, while Zahra is more quiet and contimplative, hers is the Moon. The Ganondorf keeps calling them his little Sunbeam and Moonbeam respectively and I cannnnnnnnt... So cute.

Celebration: He would throw a grand, lively celebration, complete with music and dancing. Hyrule Warriors Ganondorf would gift Bàssōl a lion-themed armor set to be used when he grows older and a lion stuffed animal for his current age.
Commemorative Act: Ganondorf would get a detailed lion tattoo on his chest. He would also have a custom-made lion blanket and clothes for Bàssōl, ensuring the lion symbol is ever-present in his son's life.
Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf
Reaction to the Name: Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf would deeply respect the name Bàssōl, recognizing its historical and cultural significance. He sees it as a powerful name that would bring honor to his family.
Celebration: He might hold a private, sacred ceremony, reflecting on the significance of the name and the auspicious birth under the Lion constellation. He would gift Bàssōl a lion-themed cloak and a small lion figurine.
Commemorative Act: Ganondorf would consider a lion tattoo on his forearm, a visible mark of his pride and dedication to his son. He would also ensure that Bàssōl’s nursery includes lion-themed decorations and toys.
Demise
Reaction to the Name: Demise would find the name Bàssōl intriguing and powerful. While not traditionally bound to Gerudo customs, he appreciates the strength and nobility the name conveys.
Celebration: He might hold a solemn, fiery ceremony in honor of his son’s birth, embracing the power and symbolism of the lion. Demise would provide Bàssōl with a lion-themed weapon to be used when he grows older and a lion plush toy for now.
Commemorative Act: Demise would get a lion tattoo, likely on his bicep, as a mark of pride. He would also ensure that Bàssōl’s belongings include lion motifs, such as a lion-themed blanket and clothing.

The other swan transformation Irish myth that I grew up reading (and my personal favourite of the two), is called the Children of Lir.
Now, I know this myth off by heart as it is genuinely my favourite Irish myth ever and means a lot to me so I'll be a little looser with how I describe its story.
It starts with a king (more like a noble lord than a monarchy king, as mentioned in the last myth and something I forgot to elaborate on, the High King is the King of Kings, or an equivalent to the prime minister/president).
This king, was a man named Lir (who was also the God of the sea but that's not important because he wasn't technically a god yet). And much like the Shakespeare play of the anglicised name, King Lear (though the play is based on a different myth) this too is a tragedy around a king and his children.
King Lir failed to become the High King, and due to the various politics and relationships between those vying for the title of High King of the time, the new High King offered him the hand in marriage of one of his daughters. King Lir accepted this and the High King sent him one of his daughters. She gave Lir four healthy and happy children: Fionnghuala (pronounced Fin-oo-lah) the eldest (and only) daughter, Aodh (pronounced Ay), and twins Fiachra (pronounced Fee-ack-rah) and Conn.
However, shortly after the twins are born, their mother dies. This brought Lir great grief but fortunately he's an actually good father and the loss of his wife only makes him treasure and adore his children even more. To Lir, his children are the light of his life. There's nothing and no one he cherishes more than his children, and his children adore him back. Their grandfather, the High King also greatly treasures and adores his grandchildren.
Upon hearing news of the death of his daughter, the High King sends another of his daughters to marry Lir, Aoife (pronounced Ee-fah). Lir happily accepts since his last marriage to one of the high king's daughters was a resounding success!
Unfortunately, Aoife grows bitterly jealous of all the love and affection both her husband and father give to the four children. She feigns illness and gets to plotting their murders. Firstly by trying to murder them with a chariot and her entourage of knights (her knights refuse to harm the children, however). Aoife decides to take a sword and slay them herself but ends up unable to go through with the act.
Deciding brute force wasn't the answer, Aoife takes the children down to the lake that they love playing in and once they're in the water, casts a curse. Transforming them into Swans. She tells them the curse will only break once nine hundred years have passed, in which they'll be forced to spend three hundred years at this lake, three hundred years in one part of the sea, and three hundred years in another lake. She allows them to keep their voices in the cursed form but only so they can sing mournful songs like no other.
With the curse done, Aoife returns to her father's castle, where he asks her why she had not brought the children with her, she responds that Lir did not trust her with them. Worried that she had done something to his precious grandchildren, he sends a message to king Lir. Lir, devastated that his wife would do something to endanger his children, he rushes to the last place he knew they'd been, the lake.
And there he finds four beautiful swans, singing with human voices. He immediately recognises their voices as his childrens' and kneels by the shore, allowing them to swim up to him so he can pull them all into a tearful hug. They tell him what Aoife did, and so her father curses her with a druid's wand, into taking on the form of a demon of the air (which is not as cool as it sounds because demons of the air in Irish mythology are genuinely just moths. Your average common moth).
The high King, Lir, and their people regularly visited the lake to listen to the swans sing and keep them company. (Also the killing of all swans is banned in the area.)
However, soon the three hundred years on the lake were up and they were forced to swim to the sea to the north. Where bitter cold, fierce storms, and rough waves tormented the swan children. At one point a particularly wretched storm split the children up. Though luckily they were eventually able to reunite with none of them too worse for wear. They would spend these three hundred years completely and utterly miserable.
Finally, the years were up and they travelled to the final lake. Here they met a scribe who recorded their tragic tale. At one point the cold and harsh weather got so bad that their feet became frozen in ice and they pleaded to king of heavens to grant all birds the gift of protect from the dangers of rough weather. Their pleas were heard and from then on they were granted that protection.
However, once the final three hundred years were up, they immediately returned to their father's home. Only to find their childhood home in ruins and heavily overgrown. Devasted, they returned to the final lake they had spent the last three hundred years at.
Until finally, christianity came to Ireland and the swans came across a Catholic monk ringing a bell. They asked him what the ringing was for and he explained it was to call people to come to morning prayer at the church. (So technically upon hearing that the siblings are like "oh perfect a Christian bell, it shall free us of the curse" but firstly that's because the story has been christianised, and secondly Aoife never said christianity would save them (so how do they know it will 900yrs later), and thirdly these swans are 900yrs old they'd have no clue what christianity is and would not have believed in it even once told!)
(For context, christianity arrived in Ireland around the 5th century so they lived as humans around 500bce, so during the height of the Irish iron age!)
Anyway back to the story, the swans tell the monk of their tale and stricken by their plight, he blesses them, using silver chains. Which magically transforms them back into humans (I would like to state that I disagree with the ending because if you can't tell yet I have my gripes with the christianisation of Irish mythology). However depending on the translation/telling, some say that the children upon becoming human stay the same age as they were when cursed and began dancing and singing in joy. Whereas others say that they immediately aged before the monks eyes and became extremely elderly, asked the monk to baptise them, he did so, and then they immediately keeled over and died. Which is certainly an ending.
Anyway as I mentioned in the first ask, this doesn't translate into an au as well but also if we go by the elderly ending, it's kinda funny to imagine that poor Warriors, finally free of being cursed to be a swan for nine hundred years, only to immediately become an old man and die. At least the other ending gives them time to celebrate breaking the curse.
The children could be Wars, Wild, and the twins could be Mask and Wind (since they're the Links who've all been in the hw games).
I would say Dink, or even Zant since he's in hw and the twilight causes the animal forms, could be Aoife but then that brings to mind the hilarious and awkward concept of either of them failing to be Warriors, Wild, Mask, and Wind's stepdad.
Time however is usually the one who's assigned Dad vibes however but he's already Mask so he can't be the father in this au. Unless we have Fierce deity as Lir instead but I can't see him letting dink/zant off that easily for hurting his boys? Or we steal Wild's royal guard dad but he doesn't have a name canonically or much personality (although he would fit the nobility part of hyrule follows medieval accuracy that knights are part of the nobility but the one piece of art we have of him doesn't scream noble. So we might as well just make up a father instead since it's not like he'll be around long after the hw siblings get turned into swans anyway.
(Perhaps Wild loses his memories during the storm that separates them all and even though it's not his fault, as the oldest, Warriors blames himself)
Anyway, thanks for letting me ramble about the myths and a rough idea of what au versions could look like! I'm going to sleep now since it definitely isn't almost 4am whoops.
— Shams-of-the-Wild
‘She feigns illness and gets to plotting their murders’ <- not sure why this caught me so off guard but I feel bad for laughing because i was like ‘oh this is such a sweet story we love a loving father OH SHES DOING MURDERS.’
The idea of Swan Wars being like ‘IM FREE’ and then IMMEDIATELY ageing to 900+ and falling over dead is hilarious and so so tragic
I can for sure just make up a father, and like the other one, I’ll probably make another little fic that follows closer to this, or like, mention it IN the swan au (maybe it’s a story Legend knows (?)) because this is really cool and I like it a lot :)
thank you so much for sharing these!! I hope you got good eep last night :)

☆Bragging rights☆
The first time
It was a normal meeting amongst the three greats. Well, as normal as any meeting between the could be Levi and Belial shoving pictures into each other's faces or pulling up videos on their Hellphones.
"Ha! Your brat ain't got nothing on mine! Look at those muscles! Their gonna win the heavy weight title for the Hell wide tail wrestling tournament next season!" Belial cried out, shoving a poster in Levi's face.
Scoffing Levi pulled out a magazine. "Your child has no brains to speak of whatsoever. Mine, however, has made yet another scientific discovery. Just yesterday, they were interviewed on the shadow times!"
Both growled at each other before turning to scream. "SU-CHAN!! YOU PICK WHOSE IS BETTER??" The great lord Sullivan's shoulders started shaking. "Su-chan?" Levi asked.
A loud cackle escaped the slim demon. "I think he's finally cracked." Belial murmered. "Oh ho, I'm sorry you two, it's just..." wiping a tear from his eye, he smiled brightly at the pair. "I can't be your tie bracker any longer."
"Wha-" Sullivan turned to withdraw a large portrait from out of nowhere. "BEHOLD!!!! I have a precious child of my own to brag about!" He gleefully shouted as his comrades could only stare in shock.
There in the frame sat a small individual on a throne like chair drapped in the finest silks and a beautiful array of well placed fine gems and pearls decorated your neck and hair. Your eyes were half closed as you stared out at the artist in what seemed to be amusement from the hint of a smile dancing across your lips.
"WHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTT" Twin screams echoed throughout the tower as both tried to push each other out of the way to get a closer look. "Yes! Aren't they just adorable?!" Sullivan looked pleased if the blissful face he held was anything to go by.
"How did you get a kid???? You don't even have a wife!!!" Levi snapped. "They don't look a thing like you!" Belial accused, pointing a cracked finger at Sullivan. "Well, of course they do see they have my adorable charisma! And what does a wife have yo do with having a child?"
Both fell out of their chairs at this point. Unsure of what was happening at this point. Su-chan with a child? That didn't make any sense!
Nowadays
Both Levi and Belial thought they got one over on Sullivan today. Both had brought absolutely adorable pictures of their children when they were younger. Sullivan did agree that they were cute but....
Not as cute as you holding a baby Iruma and Jazz on your hips. (All due to a magic potion gone wrong) standing next to Balam, who had a tiny Clara trying to escape his arms and a small alice peaking out from behind his legs.
The two demons were blinded by the unholy cuteness bestowed upon them in this moment. "Isn't my family adorable? You know, you two should also get some more grandchildren if you want to keep up with me!"
Finally, Sullivan's ultimate victory against both of his colleges came! He excitedly skipped all the way home. More egar than ever to spend time with his cute and growing family. "Ojii-chan is home!" He called out happily.
Tiny squeals and rushing footsteps sounded as little Iruma rounded the corner, jumping into his grandpa's arms. You followed quickly behind while holding a very glittery little Clara. "She found glitter. I don't know how, but she found glitter." The chairdemon cooed and took several pictures of you both.
"Dali-san says they should be back to their normal age come morning." Sullivan wilted a little when he heard that. "But can't we ju-" "absolutely not regardless of how cute they are." Your firm tone leaving no room for arguments.

Hello everyone, this is my way of announcing that I've decided to "fuse" all my little Kuro AUs/ideas (or as many as I can) into one single huge AU:
It’s just easier for me to have one big pretentious project where all arcs are connected instead of going back and forth between AUs 🤷🏻
⬇️Context under the cut⬇️
For those who haven't seen her this is Belmon or just B (any pronouns), the demon OC I shamelessly ship with Grell, I’ve been thinking lately that I really should draw her interacting with other characters 🙂 She belongs to a species of demon that don’t eat souls but instead sustain themselves by absorbing other creatures’ energy, called succubus/incubus or Life Leeches. They’re still immortal eldritch entities beyond human comprehension that originally come from another realm and have limitless shapeshifting abilities, but they’re a little less “otherworldly” in the sense that they experience more human-like emotions and feelings, have concepts of romance, affection, sexuality, friendship and family and can indulge themselves in human pleasures like sleep and food, even if they don’t need them. They also begin their life similarly to humans in that they reproduce sexually, and age like humans during their first years, though they stop aging once they reach adulthood.
When I initially created the AU where I included her, the basic plot was that Sebastian was a familiar demon who had first made a contract with Vincent (which explained why they had a similar physical appearance). The attack at the manor still happened but both twins survived, and then the contract was passed to RCiel and Madam Red, who was also a watchdog, became the twins’ legal guardian. Grell wasn’t a reaper but some kind of spirit of nature who was An’s familiar and they were like sisters, then they met a badly injured and weakened Belmon whose human family had been killed by feral demons, and after taking her in she also became An’s familiar and later fell in love with Grell.
I’ve been making a lot of changes to the AU and scraped most of that. The story so far is that B isn’t anyone’s familiar (and never had a human family) but some demon who has her own place and does her own thing. She’s an acquaintance of Sebastian, they don’t see each other too often but know how to find each other when they need to (at this point in time none of them has met Grell, she’ll come into their lives later). B is a very young demon, in fact at the time this scene takes place she’s chronologically 21 years old, unlike Sebastian whose life spans millennia. So B is pretty much a “new demon”. Despite this, she’s lived among humans most of her life and is an expert on them and their needs.
When Sebastian gets out of the cult’s building with the unconscious Ciel (turns out the conditions the poor boy was kept in gave him a nasty respiratory infection), he doesn’t really know what to do with him. Well, he knows the first thing is to pull the child away from death’s door, but he doesn’t know exactly how to save him on his own, and he has no time to lose. His best choice is to go to B for help, as Life Leeches can not only absorb other creature’s energy but also give them their own energy via physical contact. In fact their supernatural healing abilities are often chosen over (or along with) human doctors for more serious or urgent stuff, they may not be able to quickly and miraculously cure a serious illness or heal a life threatening wound, but they can help a person’s body fight it by keeping it strong. So he basically shows up at her door and hands the child to her like “Plz help ☹️”
Note 1: “Crow” is how B addresses Sebastian before he actually starts going by Sebastian. I headcanon that a demon’s real name isn’t even known to other demons, so they often give each other names based on a color, animal or any other thing that is commonly associated with them. Belmon is actually a shorter simplified version of her real name, and Sebastian calls her Blue.
B absolutely adores children of any species and is more than happy to help nurse little Ciel back to health, she’s just puzzled that a demon like Crow is suddenly acting all motherly and protective 😱
Note 2: I made Ciel’s hair a little bit longer and messier because, realistically, seeing as how the cultists treated the children I don’t think they would’ve bothered to keep them groomed ☠️
(I'm tempted to give the Phantomhive boy so many parental figures but I swear I'll still draw him mainly interacting with Sebas 😂).

about the ensemble cast missed opportunities.
cas and dean babysitting baby cas and baby sam while sam, garth and bess hunt down some monster of the week with a very sniffable smell.
jack and claire sibling team up to save dean and sam, who turned into adorable frogs after being cursed by a fairy tale related object. meanwhile cas is on a girls night out trip with eileen and rowena, but they are disturbed by one of rowena's ex girlfriends.
crowley centered episode where he is bored running hell and takes a vacation everytime he wants to sip on his cocktail and relax, someone else calls him for help/info etc
yesssssss i want all of that !!!
deancas babysitting adventures would be sooo funny. i'm torn between cas wanting to actually put all the baby knowledge he gained from those parenting books to good use OR him just angel-magicking away any issue. like baby is fussy bc they have gas? angel magics them all better. teething pain? not anymore! hungry? sims-cheat-style fills their hunger bar. gross diaper situation? grace-zaps it clean again. meanwhile dean's got the other twin and he's running around warming up a bottle with one hand and bouncing and singing to the baby in the other arm. he's got sweat and baby spit-up all over his shirt. cut to cas sitting on the sofa peacefully reading to his twin. i think cas has baby sam while baby cas is making dean's life a living hell jdkfdkg
frog shenanigans: jack keeps frog!dean and frog!sam in his jacket pockets. dean keeps grumpily ribbeting for attention. sam is trying to communicate in morse code because he thinks he knows how to turn them back but jack is just like "you guys are sooo cute" and puts them back in his pocket. both claire and jack are also Very Determined to solve this together on their own and insist they Cannot Under Any Circumstances disrupt cas, rowena, and eileen's girls night out trip even tho rowena def could undo the curse in a second.
crowley, poor crowley. let the man drink his little fruity drinks in peace! he's about to close the gates to hell himself if one (1) more person calls him! he should've never gotten the demons on a cellphone plan

Mulder Loses Children While Scully Frees Them
In S1, Mulder clings to the nightmares and recovered memories of his sister's abduction, warping his life around finding her again. Scully spends S1 mitigating his fervor, especially when he pushes other children beyond their limits to find the Truth (Ruby Morris in Conduit and Michelle Bishop in Born Again.)
(The EVE twins, D.P.O., and the Calusari child don't count because they were villains.)
In S3, Mulder loses Amy Jacobs briefly before Lucy Householder dies in her place, both incidences creating a heavy blow to his self-belief. Scully tries to reconcile him to that loss; and later protects and saves Kevin Kryder, reigniting her own version of faith.
In S4, Mulder vainly tries to cling to a clone of his sister; but listens to and is comforted by Scully's attempts to help him let go of this failure-- which later leads him to draw parallels between their shared present and their could-be future in Home: "I never saw you as a mother before."
Continuing on with S4's Samantha wounds, Mulder loses two more links to his sister: a possible lead with Roche and another fractured but faulty memory of the family secrets. The pieces of his shattered losses are, again, up to Scully to help gather put back together.
S5 Mulder loses Emily, which he believed (then) was the last chance for Scully-- and by extension, him-- to have a child; but Scully lets her die, seeing it as the only way she can protect her little girl.
Scully also frees Polly Turner from her cursed doll
before returning to her daughter's tragic arc in All Souls, where she finally releases Emily (and Paula), listening to her daughter and giving up that last tie to her girl.
Mulder, meanwhile, cannot accept the comfort of a peaceful visitation, waiting another two years before his star-dusted sister brings him her heavenly closure.
(Gibson Praise doesn't count, either, because both Mulder and Scully lose him and reunite with him in later seasons, null-and-voiding their interactions and failures.)
The IVF arc fits here somewhere, with Mulder losing another chance at a family (but unwilling to give up that hope, as usual) while Scully lets the dream go for her peace's sake.
In S6 Mulder loses the demon baby that Scully (and he) had inadvertently allowed to escape; and Scully protects Trevor from his psychotic (but adoring) father.
In S7, Mulder almost loses his inner child until Scully calls him back to himself, her efforts freeing him from the delusions of his fading mind. He fails to save brains-eating Rob and the speedster teens--
but is given a short but unburdening reprieve when meeting his own lost girl aglow in afterlife stardust.
Unfortunately, it doesn't last long; and Mulder is swept along in the final heavy losses of S7: Chimera Ellen Adderley's baby, Theresa Hoese's baby, and his own baby-- all three taken from their children and locked up, perhaps permanently, far away.
S7 Scully, as mentioned, saves Mulder's inner child; and she's also busy reuniting Frank Black with his daughter, loosely helping Ritchie Lepone get well (through a corroborative effort), and saving Nan Wieder from a magic man bent on revenge. The last and most personal of these rescues is happenstance: coincidentally protecting her own child (from who knows what possibility) by staying in D.C.
S8 in redemption for them both: Mulder breaks his pattern by not losing another child-- despite almost losing their son by either his reckless actions (getting abducted, getting "killed", getting executed in the DOD, getting trapped with alien ooze on an oil rig, and almost getting shot by Alex Krycek) or his inane choices (sending the baby and Scully far away from his protection.) Scully has learned in Mulder's absence that some things cannot be given up or "freed", adapting her partner's ways into her own by filling his shoes. The decisions she made for Emily are vastly different than the ones she makes for her son (and her work and her partner.)
At the close of Existence, the family is whole: Mulder has, at last, justified his capabilities to himself (his fear at the FBI vs. his complete confidence back in Scully's apartment) and Scully has proven her own strength to herself in the face of possibly paralyzing loss, beating it back ("It's MINE") and triumphing with their miracle still in her arms.
She hands off William to her partner, proving her complete trust in him; Mulder holds William comfortably, loosely, at ease and unafraid of his family's future.
William is proof: of their love and their ability to overcome.
(...And, of course, S9 does not happen to eradicate their progress by repeating the pattern of Mulder losing another child and Scully letting another one go....
And of course, the Revival does NOT happen to double back and reinforce that pattern, again, with Mulder losing and Scully giving up the SAME child that was purged from their life twice in favor of their newer, younger model.
Because that would undermine the progress of the original arc, now wouldn't it?
And that would be a shame.)

I am here to talk about my OCs!
Because @elianaroselight and I have talked about them so much we developed 4 RPs about them (that have been going for over a year now) and got a whole system going
Buckle up, it's long
First, there's Ju Ling's family, who now has 3 mates and 7 children (without counting the ones she lost). Her mates are Ju Jing the oni, Ri Shi and the white tiger of the west, Baihu. Her siblings are Hua and Ping, who have, respectively, the vermilion bird of the south, Zhuque, and the azure dragon of the east, Qinglong, as their mates.
Then there's Yue Shi and his mate Fengbao. Feng became friends with their doctor Jiahao, who had two twin kits that became friends (and enemies if you ask Shu) with Feng's kits. Jiahao's husband is Pingyi, who teaches sign language, and is friends with Ju Jing because he and his sister (name missing) were all at the same orphanage. Pingyi is also Cixin's teacher, Zan's adopted son. He's not mute or def but has trouble speaking and often communicates by repeating sounds or words (in the voice of the person that spoke them). Cixin and Tai Shi (one of Ju Ling's cubs) have pet ducks together.
The biological mothers of Tai Shi and the rest of the tiger cubs are Lan (who has Tai Shi, 2 tiger cubs that she lost, and Ju, a lynx cub she adopted) and An (who has Jingyi, Ling Min, Heng and Yawen) Tai Shi's dad is Qiong Qi, no one likes him. Baihu is the father of the other cubs. Depending on the AU, An and Lan are platonic mates with Ju Ling and the others and live in a huge ass house.
But anyway, Baihu is a big sweetheart who does his best to be a good baba. He loves seafood and spicy food and Ju Jing and Ri Shi very much feed into that. Lan grew a passion for gardening and plants and it was a great bonding moment for her and Ju Ling.
But anyway, all of An's cubs are adorable Jingyi likes plants and helps her moma with her garden. She even found a salamander once and wanted to keep it as a pet. Heng loves the sky and the sea, which works well with his uncle Ping, who works at an aquarium, and his yeye who used to be an astrologist. Yawen likes the sky, but specifically the clouds. He loves Wukong's nimbus and asks him to conjure it any time he comes over. And Ling Min is a little fighter that loves dragons and adores her gugu Mei.
Then there is Bai He's family. Obviously, her parents are the general Ba and Beng. Her wife is Zhi Hao, a gibbon demon the size of a wardrobe which works as a blacksmith. So you know, guaranteed thirst trap. Their children are Hua Mei, the oldest girl, Hao the only boy, and their twins Guiyin and Li Lei who is named after the empress of the kingdom of women, who Bai He is friend with.
There's also Kai Hu's group of friends! They call themselves the lost ones because Kai's cousin calls him Peter Pan. They are Chao a cat fish demon (not a catfish. a cat and fish demon), Juan a one-eyed cat demon, Fen a bunny demon, Bo the only human and Huangshu, a gibbon demon that was adopted into Kai's family and became his cousin.
And then there's Shu's group (she is one of Yue Shi and Fengbao's triplets kits), aka Lupin gang wannabe. Shu is of course Lupin, then we have Leale, a dog demon who is 100% based on Jigen, I'm not even going to hide that, and just discovered that he has 2 siblings, and Rampion, who was made as a joke with Skelle but he fits in this group of misfits. And I can't forget the Fujiko of the group, Junjie, who is also one of Jiahao's kits. The other one of Jiahao's kits is Xinyi who married Bao, Shu's second brother.
Last group that I can remember is Ling Min's family. Her mate is Hebo, a leopard gecko demon, and their adopted kids: Xu Qiu a dear and lion demon, Bian a they/them human, Hongbo an otter demon and Wuyue a baby lizard demon that Xu Qiu found in the snow
