Rick Riordan makes every single afterlife sound depressing, but the Egyptian afterlife seems the best of all the ones he presents. I like the idea of everything that's buried with you coming with you when you die, which is something I believe he mentions in the books. (the egyptians had some great ideas there). For me, the afterlife is like a dreamscape wherein you just get fo relive the things you did in life. You get to reread all the things you ever read, rewatch all the things you ever watched, spend time with all the people you knew, etc. Death is like life. You just get to relive the quiet, contemplative, relaxing moments for all eternity.
This really turned into more of me describing my ideal afterlife, but I still wanted to drop some compliments on the egyptian afterlife as portrayed by Rick Riordan.

I keep thinking about that time a fan asked Stephen Hawking about Zayn leaving the band and how he said there are infinite parallel universes and that in at least one, Zayn would still be in One Direction.
The thought that there are infinite parallel universes is comforting to me right now.

it’s canon to me that anakin skywalker and marshall commander fox are archnemeses of a shakespearean nature to eachother
why? well, fox’ life is a tragedy of galactic proportions. he’s a slave at best and straight up non-sentient property at worst, caught at the crossroads of being the face of the republic’s most corrupt establishment to his brothers who resent him for being forced to bear an authority he has no actual control over, and being the closest and easiest target for that very authority’s ire. made to enforce the rigged and deeply unjust laws against his own oppressed peoples, and no one understands better than fox how much coruscant truly despises them. the chancellor at the heart of it all, and anakin, the favored pupil - taken in by the flattery and empty promises like all the rest of them, the jedi most intimately connected to the senate who yet cares so little to know the clones who shed their blood in it every day that he never sees beyond his own very nose. no one asks the guard what they think, and fox despises them all for it, but the jedi who play at caring more than anything. it’s an impersonal, distanced dislike for the most part, but with skywalker it burns all the brighter for how often fox sees him walk the halls of the senate and never think to ask.
also fox cut anakin off in traffic once and he never forgave him for it

Happy 15th Anniversary, Marble Hornets fandom!!!
To commemorate such an amazing series and community, I've decided to do something extra special:
I'm opening an ask blog!!
I've been thinking about doing this for a while, and what better time than such a significant day? Ask blogs were honestly the thing that brought me into this fandom in the first place, and I've noticed a few of the OGs like AskSkully have been deactivated. I got a lot of comfort from those blogs, and I'm sure a lot of y'all did too, so I thought, why not make my own? I know it isn't a replacement for the originals that are gone, but hey, come with me and maybe we can enjoy something new together <3
The ask blog is going to be mainly casual/for fun, with a light ongoing plot, and it will have several non-canon aspects (such as a Jay-centric Skully, TTA Seth, and other fan-theory/head-canon community favourites). Honestly, consider it an AU because of its canon divergence ;P
In short: it's going to follow Tim, and eventually the entire Marble Hornets crew through an AU where the dead cast members remain in Rosswood like cryptids and Tim finds them there lol
I hope you guys enjoy it! I'm looking forward to making art for you!!!

Nursing home au… Natsu and Lucy meet as old people, Lucy lived a life of regret and wishes she had lived more — she always wanted to write a novel. Natsu, who’s captivated by Lucy’s eyes and her big personality, and the way she’s friends with everyone in the building, he tries to impress her by telling her all of his great adventures. Some are exaggerated, but they’re never lies. Lucy loves it, she often sits and waits for him at every meal so he can tell her more stories. In fact, she gets so inspired that she starts outlining her own adventure — written this time, with her in it (it’ll naturally become the Fairy Tail as we know it hehe).
They spend their days like this, but at some point Natsu gets curious about Lucy’s life: how did a pretty, successful woman like her end up in a nursing home alone? Lucy tells him, though she prefaces it by telling him that her life wasn’t nearly as fun as his: she grew up rich, her father fixed an arranged marriage for her as soon as she turns 18, and she spends her youth learning all about her husbands business. She admits that it wasn’t a happy marriage but it was civil and she had a child with him. She, however, refused her father’s traditional treatment. Her daughter was to see the world, experience all the things she never got to see. By the time her child was an adult and moved out, her husband died. Young, sadly, but in Lucy’s horror she realised that for the first time ever, she was free of worry. So she spent her time dedicated to growing her late husband’s business, and one day she got a letter from her daughter that told her all about her new family on the other continent. They seemed happy, but Lucy didn’t know their language so when she realised that she had a hard time managing normal household tasks, she left her mansion and went to this nursing home. Surprisingly, she tells Natsu that it’s now her life really felt like it started. No longer chained to her past, talking to people in a normal manner, hearing the amazing lives other people led — she even sneaks in that she wanted to be a journalist for a while, but that she never got around to it.
In return Natsu told his life story. He too had a rough start, abandoned in the woods and picked up by an odd community, but that he quickly found ways to make pocket money. When he had his money he realised that there was nothing stopping him from seeing the world — and that he did. He admits to never actually finding anyone to settle with, other than this cat he had in his youth, but that he had a couple of flighty romances before he went on to the next place. That if there’s anything he regrets it’s not stopping and smelling the flowers. He feels as if he was running from something his entire life, from commitment. But in the end his body begged for mercy, and after a couple of friends’ coercion he agreed to finally land. Nursing home it was.
Lucy felt for him, she really did. She had used her business to escape her world, too scared to leave it completely, but too fed up to feel attached. Natsu knew that she would have switched places with him in a heartbeat, but he also knew that he had wanted to meet her earlier. Maybe if they met as young he would have settled down. He could have appreciated the slow life, the type of life where he came home to a safe embrace and warm food on the table, and in exchange he’d bring her to as many adventures as she wanted.
One day the workers find that they’ve both passed. Likely at the same time. As they clean out Lucy’s room they find a note, written in Natsu’s old, shaky handwriting: “let’s go on adventures together”.

But my rage…My rage had risen. Followed closely behind by my madness. They moved from shadow to shadow, towards the cemetery in Montmartre.

Harry: Try for some remorse. I've seen what you'll be otherwise.
Voldemort: What do you mean you've seen what I'll be?
Harry: You know. In the afterlife. Dumbledore says hi btw.
Voldemort: THERE'S AN AFTERLIFE?! AND NO ONE TOLD ME?! I didn't even need to make Horcruxes?
Harry: yeah. i mean now you'll just suffer eternally bc your soul is damaged. you could put yourself together again except i killed all the pieces. sorry about that.

B'Elanna, Neelix, Tuvok and Chakotay needed to star in an episode where they just talked about their different beliefs and approaches to spirituality/religion. Paired off and all together. I need to gain more insight. I need characterization and I need it to be messy.
#B'Elanna's difficulty with Klingon myths and religion (especially due to her internalized racism)#Chakotay's current strong belief in his own spirituality despite his initial complete rejection of it (and how B'Elanna seems to admire#and have talked with Chakotay about it extensively in the past given how many specifics she's aware of)#Neelix's belief in an afterlife being the only thing that comforted him after his entire family was killed - the knowledge that he would be#able to reunite with them again and that knowledge being ripped away from him#Does he still believe? Are there other aspects of his previous spiritual beliefs that are thrown into question?#Just because it isn't 'real' does it make it unimportant? How do we even know whether or not it's 'real'?#He died and doesn't remember reaching that tree and seeing his family - does that mean it didn't happen?#Tuvok's line in 'Innocence' about how he's begun to have doubts about whether or not a katra exists and what happens after someone dies#and his firm ties to Vulcan spirituality and ritual#ALL SO INTERESTING!!!!!!!!#star trek voyager#I don't think it'd be a calm or healthy conversation either - they're not therapists and I don't think anyone but Chakotay#would be particularly careful with his words#and before you say Tuvok's a Vulcan so he would be let me remind you that Tuvok told B'Elanna to her face that he thought Klingons#were basically savages - he is INDELICATE to say the least#Neelix is careful with his words bc he's a people pleaser for survival but also he has a tendency to bother people and be overly pushy#and I think he'd do a lot of research and be the one leading the conversation/the reason they get on the topic and continue on it#B'Elanna wouldn't want to talk about it. She wants to talk about it the least. But she must!!!! Bc the episode demands it!!#st voy

Kind of love that in tbosas, the one usage of "fate forbid" (Ch. 10) is in the singular. Like, we're replacing "God forbid," and we are also making sure to differentiate it from an invocation of any mythological "Fates," but the effect... It's still an invocation. We know what it's supposed to be covering up. The Capitol trying to be above what it might see as "superstitious," but it's there. They dress it up differently, but it's there.

The “how did I get so lucky” line it’s such an insane statement cos sir the apocalypse literally happened and he’s been through so much and lost people... but guess what, in all of this he is finding the love of his life at the end of the world 🥹
when I tell you I gasped when he said that. he literally considers himself lucky despite everything! ps do u think he ever feels guilty because despite all the death and the trauma and the loss and the entire world ending that, other than losing carl, he's way happier now than he was before? simply because he found her? once again I say if the entire world had to end for them to be together than so be it!

When I was really suicidal I got really into researching mortuary science and human decay. It felt really helpful. I just wanted to be dead and it was a way to think about that and plan for it without actually planning to end my life. You are definitely going to die one day, so there's no need to kill yourself. There will be a day where you don't get back up. I know how unbearable the pain feels and I know that even trying to think about the future feels impossible but there will be moments that are as beautiful as this moment is horrible. There will be loved ones you haven't met yet and days with perfect weather and excellent sandwiches and trips to the aquarium and cool rocks on the beach and good days and bad days and good days and bad days and then, I promise, you will rest. If you really truly can't manage to look forward to the good parts that will make these bad parts worth it you can look forward to the final chapter but I do think you should stick around to see the middle parts.
this is actually an incredibly helpful perspective. thank you, genuinely.
