alright, this really, really sucks but i have an unfortunate update that occurred regarding my recent living situation.

not to get into too much detail for the sake of my friend's privacy, but she and her fiance offered to take me in after i was suddenly on the verge of homelessness this february. i accepted their offer and moved in thanks to everyone's support, and for the last few months, i felt comfortable and capable in getting myself together for the first time in years.

however, despite what i assumed were all positive developments, things started getting a lot more complicated. i become exposed to the treatment and stress my friend has been suffering from her fiance over many years, from being spied on via tracking apps, in-house cameras, a ridiculous jealousy complex and all sorts of other personal issues.

her friends and i have been supporting her over the years, but i didn't realize how bad it was until i started to be subjected to it as well.

my friend decided to break up with her fiance last week, finally standing up for herself but still wanting to remain friends and live as normally as they could, they still had the house and their cats and such. her now ex-fiance hasn't taken kindly to this and has been pretty passively hostile towards us, and has started to take it out on me.

she started stalking my tumblr to find things to get mad at, and checking the cameras when i leave my room. i've not felt comfortable to leave my room in well over a week other than to get some food or use the bathroom in the middle of the night, the tension has been a nightmare.

my friend and i decided we needed to move out, especially me since i'm technically not a tenant and we suspect she's going to call the police on me to get me out of here. my friend will be going to her parents at a later point, but i unfortunately need to leave within a couple weeks as i've already been "indirectly" threatened.

this is sort of a nightmare, and i feel so horrible things turned out this way for my friend. i tried my best, but this feels out of my control. trying to keep the peace has only made things worse, and we think it's best for me to book it before i get blind-sighted.

i suspect if her ex-fiance sees this, she'll retaliate, but at this point i've already made my peace with that.

unfortunately, i won't be able to bring much of my stuff with me, i only have enough money for a ticket to move in with another close friend as an emergency.

i don't have enough to buy any checked bags for most my belongings, especially my desktop pc, so once i move i'm very likely going to not be able to do my art or anything until i can afford a laptop eventually. i'm really sorry to those waiting on any commissions, i'll try my best to get them done before i move. i feel so horrible about this.

I Made a Game

Nearly eight years ago, I tried my hand at making my first game as part of a Game Jam on itch.io geared towards new developers. It was a buggy, poorly made mess, but I absolutely loved the process, and it got me interested in game development. A month or so ago, a new Game Jam popped up with the theme of "Improve an Old Project' and I figured "Fuck it, let's remake it". A lot of mistakes, panicked hours, and rigorous bug testing later (a good amount after the Jam was over - sorry about that, it's hard to make a solo game in only a week or so) - I am now happy to share the full result with you. The game is entirely free to play, with the only requirement being the ability to use an unzipping program like Winrar (or 7zip, if you're on Windows 11) to access the game itself. I do have an option to donate if you wish, but it is absolutely not required.

There are 3 "canonical" endings to the game, and a ton of hidden interactions, extra dialogue, and flavor text galore to interact with (cause I absolutely love clicking on everything to find all the little descriptive text and character thoughts, and wanted to include that in the game) Description down below, and I hope you all enjoy! If you are curious as to why some of them are going onto Tumblr for this: unfortunately other social media sites, like reddit or Twitter, have been cracking down on any and every type of posts, even ones that arnt asking for money, about Palestine that is even slightly negative about Israel, under the guise of it being pro hamas/terrorist.

About the how the money is used skepticism: unfortunately due to the conflict, Israel has been limiting what can come into Palestine alot, so because of that the cost of everything has skyrocketed so they need alot of money inorder to survive, this also ain't helped by the fact that if they want to leave the only way to do so is via Egypt and the government of Egypt has been profiting from this conflict by making it so it costs $~5000 per person to leave if not more.

Like you are right to be skeptical cause there have been quite a few scams/scammers over this. But thankfully there are a handful of different blogs dedicated to verifying these as best they can(either because they are in Palestine or have contact with people who are). Of course it ain't perfect there have been 1 or 2 scams that slip through the cracks, but all in all they've been pretty good at catching them.

Tho it's 100% understandable if you don't trust them/don't share them.

While this is decent information that I'll have to check myself, I cannot ignore the fact that I've seen a lot of these blogs that have all the characteristics of a bot plus a phone scammer combined. I understand where you are coming from, but please understand that these scammers are smart. They are typically an organization full of workers who use multiple methods of abuse to get what they want--aka, your money. They could easily be, for example, finding real people in databases and pretending to be them.

In this case they are absolutely weaponizing sympathy and empathy, expecting you to feel good in donating or feel bad in not, to incentivize you into donating to people who aren't in dire need of it.

I am not in a position to donate regardless, but I've seen a dozen scams just like these pop up in the past so I'm just saying. There may be legitimate reasons to believe these asks, but. I'd personally stick to known charities or groups. I feel terrible for the people suffering, and fuck anyone trying to make a profit off of this shit, but all I'm saying is just be careful with your money and quadruple check to make double sure your money isn't being stolen. And if you're not sure, run.

Their street was bombed on October 28th, and they were forced to remain inside their damaged home due to the threat of Israeli snipers targeting any Palestinians attempting to flee their homes. "Unfortunately, the bombing was severe, and snipers were targeting anyone attempting to leave their homes. A neighboring house was bombed, and our house was severely damaged. We were trapped inside, and my husband, children, and I were rescued from under the rubble and shattered glass. That night, my children and I witnessed unimaginable things – from casualties to bloodshed and bodies." -Alaa

They fled to a relative's house in the Rimal neighborhood. The gunpowder and smoke from continuous bombing and airstrikes were so severe they lost their ability to see and had difficulty breathing. Alaa had to put wet makes on her children's face to attempt to protect them.

Food was so scarce they had to use weeds and animal feed to make bread to feed their children.

"Eventually, we were forced to flee to the south, the supposedly safe haven that turned out to be otherwise. Rafah was overcrowded with displaced people, and we could only find a small tent lacking the necessities of life. My children suffered from epidemics and skin diseases caused by the pollution in the camp. This protest had solid intent but it's unfortunately really frustrating to read about. The article above does a good job of framing it positively, but most of the articles from more widely-read sources maintain focus on the Gala itself rather than the protest, because of course they fucking do; you are not going to have the reach doing this that you think you are unless you actually make it to the location where the event is held and can disrupt the photos, as we saw success with last week at the White House Correspondents Dinner. The odds of making it to the door without a plan are extremely slim, and sure enough, it did not happen this time. Protesters lingered in Central Park; those who did attempt to march on the Gala were blocked by police at every turn. If you're protesting an event as big as this one, you need a way to get your people to disrupt the event itself. At the bare minimum, you need an extensive network of media contacts pushing pushing pushing this on social media and in the news, or you are going to be drowned out by the spectacle.

I am absolutely not saying Don't Protest At Celebrity Events, but for fuck's sake, part of protesting is pushing your cause higher into the public consciousness and that is not going to happen here and it just drives me up the wall. You have to make sure you have laid the groundwork for your voice to be heard when you do something like this! You're marching against the goddamned Met Gala with no strategy to make you bigger and actually get you to the Met Gala? What?

I dunno. I see what they were trying to do, and it did get some news articles. But it does not seem to have succeeded in generating focus the way it would have if they had, you know, actually made it into the crowd at the door. I'm not reading that they had any plan to that effect and it's just so frustrating.

ANYWAY "nobody better be posting about" etc. etc. without also posting a link to a local bail fund if possible. In this case, that'd probably be the Action Bail Fund, which supports protesters in New York. Bucknell has a multi-state list of bail funds as well, though many of these are cause-specific. Another point on this: if a race is a close call, it's so much easier to contest or delegitimize the results. The voter rights/suppression and "elections integrity" bills that have been passed or proposed in the past 20 years all pretty much come back to the 2000 POTUS election. That mess, where the Supreme Court had to get involved, happened because the results were close enough that a couple hundred votes were going to decide who got Florida's electoral votes and they had to do re-counts. If the margin of difference in votes had been greater, it never would have been an issue. If Al Gore had gotten, say, 54 percent of the vote to George W Bush's 46, that would have been indisputable. But Gore was considered boring and personality-less, and swing voters or those on only the slight left of the center weren't "excited" or "inspired" by him...so they stayed home. Which means American politics has unfortunately never been boring or even seemed "low-stakes" since. Boring and uneventful should be the goal, not hanging on for the next four years until we get another chance, if we get one.

Boring and uneventful mean stable, and that means a better ability to push the progress we want to make forward instead of having to desperately defend what we already have from being taken and putting out fires on too many fronts at once. Boring and uneventful means we're not spread thin, we have less activist burnout, more donations per cause because there are fewer battles to be fought, less "compassion fatigue" because the world's not on fire, and extremists aren't emboldened to see what else they can try next.

Close races mean disputed results. Close races mean SCOTUS gets involved. Close races mean people try to attack Congress so the election results can't be certified because people are used to questioning the legitimacy of elections now. Close races mean "we'll get you next election!!😡" every election, "noble lost causes" that dog the political landscape for decades, and more voter disenfranchisement bills and "citizen poll-watchers" with guns at polling places. Close races mean elected leaders can have the legitimacy of their position in office constantly challenged and they have to put energy toward that instead of getting anything done. Close races mean we win the White House but not Congress, so practically speaking, we'll be deadlocked for at least two years and nothing can get done anyway.

Showing up means wider margins. Wider margins hedge our bets and net us political capital for after the election. Wider margins show that yeah, this is the people's mandate and we have the numbers to make x thing happen.

I am not a registered Democrat. I don't love any of the candidates in this race, and if the ones I vote for get elected, I will be making sure, with my calls and e-mails over the next four years, that they keep to what they say right now that they'll do, and if they do something I don't like, they will hear about it then too, because voting is not the only step in the political process. But if they don't get elected, the Trump administration delighted in doing things because they were cruel, because we begged them not to, and that's what I mean by fearing losing my political voice. The Democrats suck but they're more likely to listen. Getting more of them into Congress and state governor and legislature offices makes our work not only infinitely easier but possible in the first place.

It's strategy, y'all. We're playing for the mid-range future here so we don't have to survive minute-to-minute. If we stabilize our position, we can then be in a place to get momentum behind a progressive agenda for the long-run. Set up the pieces into the positions you need them in early in the chess game, and you can sweep the endgame. Play turn-by-turn and you lose.
