#conversation i over hears today:#'I hate it when she tells me to read the book. You're the fucking professor. What do you mean read the book?'#why are you in college??#legitimately??#now maybe this was some weird instance where the professor really wasn't answering legitimate questions #but most of the time conversations like this are coming from students who ignore the reading and homework #and then expect the professor to spell everything out for them #instead of taking the initiative to actually do the work and learn #if you are not doing your reading. if you are not working to understand it.#if you are just showing up and expecting it to be explained to you without demonstrating that you are working to understand #by actually doing the work assigned #then you do not belong in a college classroom #the amount of handholding we do for college students these days is absurd #the readings and work assigned are part of the learning process #you are responsible for completing them #teachers do not (or at least should not) assign reading and then regurgitate it back to you in a lecture #that's not how college should work #if you can't be bothered to open a book that's on you #i am so very very tired #anyway #professor problems #personal #*overheard #what the hell happened to that first tag?? 🤦‍♀️😂

it's all about having *more* people than strictly absolutely 100% necessary. And there are plenty of people... the employment shortage is not a shortage of willing employees. It is a shortage of willing employers (to offer fair wages and hours and things like human decency) in the face of endless profit.

6 hour workday maximum i’m not kidding, if it can’t be done in that timeframe it doesn’t need doing.

You don't wish your disability was worse or more visible, you wish your disability was taken seriously. Please stop confusing the two, I guarantee you would not get the support you need JUST by being more severe or more visible. Please listen to visibly disabled people when we tell you it isn't better on our side

#m/cc #mine #I tried extremely hard to word this nicely because I KNOW people don't mean bad and often even know there are unique challenges #and believe me I know the challenges of invisible disability too!!#I have invisible disabilities!#but as someone who has also been at least visibly 'off' since they were 10 I am SO SICK of invisible disabilities being hailed as like #a unique extra oppression that us lucky visibly disabled people don't have to deal with #there are challenges to invisible disabilities that visibly disabled people DON'T have to deal with!#but you need to understand that *the reverse is also true*#there are MASSIVE benefits to being able to lie about your disability for example #or not dealing with the overt ableism that comes with your disability being obvious to everyone #*I do not have the option to pretend I'm not disabled.* that is never an option I have #I walk weirdly. I use a mobility aid now. my speech and face are 'off.' I lean to one side #for a long time I wore sunglasses 24/7 and often didn't make sense. I sometimes can't speak or won't react to others #for the most part people will always know that at the very least something is wrong with me #and more obviously I have people telling me they'll pray for me; telling me I can't do things I'm already in the process of doing;#wanting to shake my hand to tell me I'm an inspiration for not killing myself; giving me dirty looks for existing in public #and yes. I'm aware that this is very much an in-community issue. I know the average abled person doesn't know invisible disabilities exist #that's why there's so much awareness happening for it #but as a visibly disabled person I get SO TIRED of constantly hearing 'I wish my disability was visible :'('#it's just 'I wish I had your disability!' but from other disabled people

Regardless, the music I listen to is such an important part of my creative process and some of these songs really defined the scenes I now have locked in my head. So I figured it was only fair to give them the credit they're due.

I will continue to add to this playlist, and will note in comic updates when one of these songs is applicable!

please help a disabled lesbian take care of her infant niece (URGENT)

please help me. please. i’m only one person, i can only take so much before i lose it. it's been one thing after another after another and i'm at my wit's end. i can't do this alone

in the last month: my grandma passed away, our family dog passed away, my hydradenditis has flared up under my arms and my chest, and the icing on the cake is my sister is in jail and i’ve been tasked with taking care of my niece until she gets out. i have no clue when that will be, her next court date is the 17th. and this is all on top of the hell i’ve been going through the last year

i can’t even afford to feed myself or buy my medicine or pay my bills, let alone afford to take care of an infant who completely relies on me. i don’t even care if i have food or insulin at this point, please PLEASE help me take care of my niece. she’s going to need diapers and wipes very soon and she has food for now but will need more within the next two weeks? i’m not sure, i’m not equipped to deal with this but i’m going to do everything in my power to make sure that she is taken care of
