Thumb aimlessly swiping at the screen of his phone, Pierre scanned the tweets as they passed, making note of a cute waffle shop in Monaco that he knew Y/N would love. Nothing of note appeared to have been posted as most of the Grid were waiting to hear where Sainz had signed. Hand halting, Pierre’s eyes flickered across the screen once. Twice. And then a third time just to be sure. His last message to Y/N had gone unanswered and now there was a picture of her on Twitter, claiming to be from today. With Charles’ arm around her. His teeth sank into his bottom lip, and a derisive scoff filled his driver’s room. What happened to being unable to book the time off work, he thought bitterly to himself. Instead she was in the Paddock with a red-clad arm wrapped around her. Before he could restrain himself, he had clicked on the ‘reply’ button. A knock at the door pulled him from his downward spiral, preventing him from looking further into the comments gushing about how cute his best friend and closest F1 friend looked as a couple. 

“Pierre, time to warm up.”

“D’accord.”

He locked his phone before dumping it onto the massage table, storming out of his driver’s room, unaware that if he had scrolled down another two posts, he would’ve seen a picture of Y/N with Alexandra and a tweet from the woman herself.

Charles Leclerc the man he was, his charming smile and the gorgeous eyes that no one can resist. And you are no exception. Inspite of knowing his playboy ways and his lack of comitment you found yourself attracted to him.

You being a part of media knew each driver well and were close with most of them due to your genuine questions and how you always refrained from asking about their personal life. The drivers all had taken a liking to you and all looked forward to do interviews with you, inspite of you being a recent joinee.

Lewis Hamilton your idol and your grid family was the first notice your attraction towards the Monagasque "Careful there Y/N, dont go and fall in love with him now" he said laughing but also being concerned. You just shook your head.

Charles Leclerc himself didn't make it any easier for you always complimenting you and doing small gestures which others would consider as friendly but your naive crush took it to heart. The way he would bring your favourite coffeee each time you interview him or the way he ensures you have a ride home or the way his eyes light up whenever speaking to you.

You really thought you had a chance and he did nothing to deny that or make you question your thinking about him. You just wanted him in your life if not possible as a significant other, at least as a friend. You were friends and Charles always confided in you always. Charles always made you feel like the most special girl he made you feel like you were his everything.

Max and Lando well aware of your feelings towards him. Always motivated you to tell him your actual feelings

"C'mon Y/N he never speaks to a girl more than a week if he isn't intrested in them" Lando said

"Atleast you would not keep having expectations, schatje. Just tell him" Max said

How wrong they were !

One fine evening you and Charles were hanging out in his house were you came to the topic of how you prefer your significant other to be. You thought this was it this the only shot you have. You did just that you confessed how much you like him. As soon as you confessed Charles kissed you. It was the best fucking kiss of your life. It was everything and all you ever asked for.

Everything was perfect for a while. Him hugging you, holding your hands, cuddling and going on dates. Few drivers noted the changes and were all happy for you. you too were glowing. You should have known NOTHING LASTS FOREVER.

Soon you noticed how he was never affectionate towards you in public but you brushed it off thinking he wanted to keep it private, that didn't bother you much. But when he randomly going out or partying without you knowing, flirting with other girls it made you question what you really had.

You confronted Charles about this and what his answer just made you more confused.

"What are you my girlfriend ? we are just trying thing out Y/N. I am not in space to commit right now just give me some time".

That must have been it but no, you loved him way too much to let him go easily. You stayed with him hoping things would get better and you will be a happy couple.

Things just got worse from there, he was not as open as before he slowly started ignoring you but you still held on to tiny hope you found here and there.

Others weren't oblivious to the situation though you tried not to let it show. They all noticed how you seem so down always and have fake smile on.

Lewis and Max confront you one day. You break down in front of them and for the first time you let your feeling out. You told them everything about how insecure you feel, how you feel like you are the problem, maybe if you were better or that you are being overdramatic.

"You are the strongest person I know, love. He does not deserve your love I know it is not easy to let go of him right now, but you need to he is slowly sucking the life out of you. It is better to be alone than in bad company." Lewis explained.

"You deserve to be in relationships that make you feel seen, heard, and valued. You dont have put up with his shit, schatje" Max added on. "We will be with you every step of it".

It took you time but soon enough you were done you had no more tears to cry or fucks to give him. You just said to him that you are done with him but he didnt take it seriously cause this was the cycle falling out and him convincing you and you falling right back.

"Dont I too deserve to be loved by someone ?" you asked

"I love you, Y/N. I will start taking you seriously" he tried.

You shook your head "You dont love me Charles you just love the idea of me being in love with you. You love the idea of a person living solely for you. You love that you could pick me at your worst and drop me at your best"

With that you walked out and cried for him yet in the end it hit you that all you will be is

An estimate of how many physical books I own: where i live currently i have 132 physical books, but i also have some in storage and some in my parents house, so i would guess maybe about 220-250 maybeeee

Favorite author: i really don't have a stand out author...authors who have published my favouriteeee ever books have then produced really lackluster other works in my opinion....i feel like someone who never lets me down is ottessa moshfegh because u get what u get with her but i don't think i'd claim her as an outright favourite??

A popular book I've never read and never intend to read: truly anything by colleen hoover i am all for big popular books that get a large specific audience reading again, but we can do better by young girls and get them reading something sliiiightttllyyyy better (not shitting on anyone who enjoys colleen hoover, again they cater to a specific market and i think thats great, just not my cup of tea, but from what i've heard she's got a couple of questionable opinions)

A popular book I thought was just meh: normal people! :)) god it bored me sooooooooo much which is a shame cause the tv show slaps

Longest book I own: a suitable boy by vikram seth, 1474 pages!!!!!!!! and i read it in two weeks during the height of covid lockdown and it was EXCELLENT

Longest series I own all the books to: probably game of thrones....never been a massive series gal so yeah thats the only one i can think of off the top of my head?

Prettiest book I own: i have a really beautiful collection of charles dickens' books even though i'm not his biggest fan at all (loved david copperfield, enjoy a christmas carol, have read great expectations) but they were a gift and they do look really pretty on my shelves at my parents house!

A book or series I wish more people knew about: urmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm okay not to like talk about it again.............but at swim two boys............it was highly applauded when it was first published and was very popular but feel like it's popularity waned but its got two boys trying to resist falling in love and choosing to spend time together by learning to swim in the cold dublin sea.......the tumblr girlies would eat that up nowadays......also bewilderment by richard powers i think everyone should read that book 😌

Book I'm reading now: briefly, a delicious life by nell stevens....only about 50 pages in so far but good fun, a sapphic ghost love story from what i can tell so far so intriguing....

Book that's been on my TBR list for a while but I still haven't got around to it: the fifth season by n.k. jemisin.....tried reading it but wasn't in a sci-fi mood so only got one chapter in and then it has just.....sat there......for like.....two years......

Paperback, hardcover, or ebook?: paperback anyyyyyyyyyyy day of the week let me BREAK that spine let me make you look worn and loved and read let me chuck you into my bag and u barely add any weight!!! i dont hate a hardback but avoid buying them unless it is a book i am DESPERATE to read asap or it's at a good price but yeah i am a paperback girlie <3 don't own an e-reader apart from having the kindle app on my ipad so v rarely venture into e-books and i am sorry but nothing beats the feel of a book in ur hands like i need to feeeeel the pages

I am @monagasque’s silverstone 2023 anon and since you are my resident max blog i thought i’d give you more Max stories from the weekend!!

— the most obvious being him trying to teach us dutch, as of now i still have absolutely no clue how to say good luck in dutch so i would not be calling him a good teacher 😭. Then when we seen him the next day and he tested us, my bestie was the one carrying us since she’s from SA and speaks afrikaans so similar to dutch!!

— we had both british and scottish flags and got the brits (including alex 🫶🏼) to sign the british flag and the other drivers to sign the scottish flag! When Max signed it he done it right bang in the middle of the cross because he said thats where daniel would’ve wanted to do it so he wanted to get in there first!! THIS ABSOLUTELY MELTED MY MAXIEL HEART 🙏🏼

— also max made so so sure to make it so he got to basically every fan who went up to him, even with jos (👎🏼👎🏼) lurking around he still made the effort!!

— on the Sunday too we met him again and even though he was in a rush he made sure to stop for us, talking to us since he remembered us from the day before and was mimicking our accent (in a funny way) when we were talking to him and we were doing the same back to him, like the way he says three ect

Charles nodded at you. "Oui, bien sûr, chérie." He took the dishes back inside and walked right over to Lando at the sink, getting caught up in a conversation with him.

Oscar stared back at Lando when hearing what he said to him, not quite blinking because he was just slowly processing what he said to him. There was no way that could be... right? It must have just been some messed up game of telephone. In what world would you actually have some sort of crush on him? He thought back to what happened this morning, wondering if maybe he had come across a little rude or off when trying to convince himself that the two of you falling asleep last night was normal. But deep down, he knew it wasn't. He was comfortable enough to fall asleep with you but there was no way he would be in that position with anyone else on this yacht. He noticed that Charles wasn't with you anymore and he immediately got up, getting you another mimosa since he knew you well enough already to know you probably were ready for another one before walking out to you and handing it to you. "Beautiful weather we're having, right?," he said, immediately feeling like an idiot for bringing up the weather of all things. He knew he couldn't outright ask you about this morning though, not wanting to make things awkward or uncomfortable. 

I was on my phone, reading a text from my dad when I hard the door slide open, getting ready to be greeted by Charles but my whole body felt alight when I heard Oscar’s Australian accent and not Charles’ Monagasque one. I smile up at him as he offers me the mimosa, taking it happily. “Yes, lovely weather. Thanks for reminding me.” I tease him, our banter already feeling so much easier and more natural. I bring the glass to my nose, making a scene of sniffing it, narrowing my eyes at him. “Did you know that most of the commonly used poisons have specific scents? Cyanide smells like toasted almonds. Ethyl caproate smells like banana and pineapple. Arsenic smells like garlic. Some other ones smell like mint or brandy. So if you are gonna poison me, make sure you use the correct one.” I was already feeling more like myself by speaking to Oscar about the scents of poisons, knowing he wouldn’t think I was crazy. In fact, he’d probably find it interesting himself.

I laugh softly when hearing what you said, shaking my head at you. You and the other guys always busted on Lando over his height. "I will be able to spot him because I am sure he'll be decked out in all the merch I will send him," I smile softly at the thought. At first I thought it was a bit or just Lando being nice but he still genuinely seemed excited about me making new music and had spoken nicely about me in interviews and such. I get out with you once we arrived to the Eiffel Tower, holding your hand. "You look really hot tonight, by the way. I didn't want to say that in front of Hayden and then I was distracted but you know how I feel about you in blue. And just so you know, half the population definitely doesn't look like you. I know people could probably say the same about me with my blonde hair and blue eyes but I also have great boobs," I tease you.

"I don't think Hayden would've minded considering I don't think he even knows what hot means yet... but thank you, engel. You know I already called you my sexy disco ball." He smirks down at you, squeezing your hand as you two make your way towards the tower, your security behind and in front and flanking on all sides but they were keeping their distance, not wanting to call unnecessary attention. "Just because we're both more attractive than half the population doesn't mean we don't look like them." He chuckles, happy that it was midweek so the lawn wasn't as crowded as it would've been on a weekend. He looks up at the Eiffel Tower, squeezing your hand again. "You know, every hour on the hour the tower sparkles. I have a lot of random facts about the tower... Renee and Charles got engaged here, of course, and then promptly had their engagement party up in the restaurant on the second level... she talked my ear off about the construction and everything. She's kind of obsessed."

Sunflower 🌻

He slowly drove along the road, tapping his fingers against the steering wheel and humming along to the random top 40 songs playing on the radio as he made his way towards the pub to pick you up. You’d insisted you’d be fine getting a taxi or Uber home but he knew come the end of the night you’d be wobbly on your feet and he’d rather get you himself.

It wasn’t often so he didn’t mind.

His heart skipped a beat when he saw you, stood on the edge of the pavement - rocking back and forth a little as you waited for him, your breath visible in the cold air. You looked so beautiful in the soft light of the street lamps and as you saw his car pull up, your smile made the dark brighten up.

The driver stepped out of the car, removing his jacket from his own shoulders and draping them over yours as you shivered.

“I told you you should’ve brought a jacket, amour.” He hummed, pressing a chaste kiss to your forehead.

“Thought the spirits would keep me toasty.” You giggled softly, wrapping your arms around his middle - looking up at him with a drunken grin. “And I love getting to wear your jacket too.”

“Okay, okay. Let’s get you home.”

“Kiss first, please.” Your plea came out as a soft whine.

The Monagasque lent down and pressed a sweet kiss to your lips, his warm hands holding your face. He could feel your smile against his lips and he practically fell in love all over again.

He took your hand and led you to the car, opening the passenger door for you and guiding you in. “Belt, please.”

After making sure you were all strapped in, he climbed into the driver’s seat and began the short drive home - just listening to your rambles about your night.

“But-“ you hiccuped. “You wanna know the best bit of my night?”

“What’s that, ma petit fleur?” He chuckled softly, keeping his eyes on the road.

You rest your elbow on the arm rest, and smiled fondly. “Getting to see you.”

The driver couldn’t help but smile back. “Best bit of my night too, baby.”

“I love you, Charles.”

“I love you.”

When he turned to glance at you, he noticed you’d drifted off - head lulled back against the seat, lips parted a little. You truly were something special to him and he felt so lucky you felt safe enough in his presence to let your drunken tiredness take over. He dared not wake you, carefully carrying you into your home - only leaving your side to lock the door.

“You comin’ to bed?” You mumbled tiredly, not opening your eyes as he stepped back into the room - snuggled under the sheets.

“I am, my petite fleur.” His voice was soft as he slipped in beside you, pulling you into his chest. “Get some sleep for me, okay? I love you.”

“Love you.” You yawned, falling back asleep.

Charles looked down at you with a soft smile, ever since he’d met you in the hotel in Monaco - he’d been absolutely smitten. You’d been together for over a year now, and he’d never felt more at peace. Coming home after a difficult race weekend didn’t feel so bad when he was greeted with a bouquet of sunflowers, a home cooked meal and a proud smile.

You’d slotted into his life like you were always meant to be there and he wouldn’t change you for the world.

1. yuki - we both love eating and cooking and I think we would have so much fun together trying new restaurants and daring each other to eat the weirdest shit on the menu (all on his dime of course) we also both hate working out and swear a lot

2. daniel. we have very similar personalities and lots of people say he’s annoying, which doesn’t bother me at all. I would let him live his best chaotic life and I can be just as weird as him to see if I can annoy him back. also we have the same taste in music which counts for a lot and I feel like if we had gone to high school together we would have been in the same friend group due to the unbreakable teenage bong between the alt scene re: metal heads, emos, scene, punks, goths etc. you have to stick together against the normies!

3. alex. similar to reasons for daniel because he’s just a little bit unhinged and has a fun sense of humour. he also is a package deal with lily and that really speaks to my soul. I would third wheel all their dates and then eventually they would ask me to join their relationship because I am also funny and cute and I can be both their wags because I don’t sport myself.

Also and I can't believe I'm wading into Tumblr drama instead of going downstairs, getting a beer and then sticking my head out the window to bark back at the local foxes like a normal 33 year old journalist at 1:24am but

They all take the piss out each other about their teams. Luca's replacing Alex. Lando has a GP2 engine. The cars aren't equal. George is slow. Ferrari had a sudden loss of speed at COTA. I'm not saying this cus I like Lando - I also fucking love that shameless Monagasque bishounen, he's turning me mildly tifosi for the first time in 28 years of F1 fandom, it was fine.

The F1 lads also only went for each other, they didn't hit down at the babies with this sort of thing - they kept it at the level of people who can take it. For unsupervised chaos that was clearly bothering them all quite a lot on a gameplay level while they're trying to stream and talk and compete I am frankly astounded how professional they were. They even said "fuck" a hell of a lot less than live radio.
