I think this is great symbolism honestly, and it suggests the old man is to blame for this lack of spontaneousness in their love life anymore

Glass Animals got inspired to write this song after they met a girl (at a concert I believe?) with a tattoo on her arm that simply said "Pork Soda", and when they asked her why she got such a random string of words tattoo like that she said "cause I wanted to", thus inspiring them to make a song about spontaneousness

roommates are a given, i think hikari dorm is perfectly balanced (chaotic) in its own way and that even tho the 3 of them are so different they also manage to get along really well. i cant take them seriously at all and i think thats part of their charm lol. they're all such Characters individually that together it just feels Normal. i can imagine the three of them sitting around the bathtub, kanata splashing around while hiyori paints his own nails and rinne gossips. its like if the golden girls were anime boys but theres 3 instead of 4 and none of them are divorced or widowed. so really nothing like the golden girls but im sure u understand...maybe

nihihi dorm is actually tied for my fave with gender dorm god i love them a ton, i think in part because i love nikis relationship with hiiro and how hes adopted him as his own younger brother, but also hinata. i think about niki cooking for them and having them try new dishes and them having movie nights or staying up all night playing games and even tho niki has work the next morning hes like (exaggerated sigh) fine ONE more game...but he loves it

i love both rinne and niki (and crazybs in general honestly) doting relationship on 2wink and im so happy they keep getting collabs .. in case they decide to give us more crumbs... plz. they feel like younger siblings to them. rinne especially makes me so soft because past his initial impression of being a bad influence and generally just pushing his luck on how much he can tease, it always feels like hes looking out for the two

i rly like how rinne gets along with his kouhai both in asobi and craftmonster bc of the attitude he takes on, ive mentioned it in another post but w/ the former especially he rly just allows himself to be playful so much so that it almost takes the kids off-guard bc theyre like what..hes not as scary as we thought he'd be at all. i think the best rinne friendships are the ones where they set those prejudices aside and dont take him seriously at all lol bc that's when he rly starts to feel comfortable. this grown ass man running around playing games and doing arts n crafts with a bunch of 15-17 y/os (and shu i guess) is a funny mental image and it rly feels like he can let himself loose. conversely i also love when he's exasperated with his juniors bc then hes like oh right im an adult i need to set an example.. this is about U chill yellow

on the other hand i like how niki interacts with ppl a lot more "serious" than him i.e ibara, natsume bc he tends to like..soften them? ppl cant help but let their guard down around niki hes just.... himself. like even if theyre initially wary they grow to be like "oh wait this guy's really nice what the fuck"

i particularly like nikis kitchen circle bc its ppl you usually wouldnt see interact with niki but u can tell they want to impress him. its so sweet nikis just some guy who wants to share his love for cooking. also thinking about the difference between how ibara would interact with rinne and niki (harsher with rinne bc hes his Boss whereas with niki he's more accommodating, that one gordon ramsey meme thats like u donkey vs oh oh dear) is funny so even if theres not a lot of interactions for them i want to think ibara would let niki get away with just about anything

AND NIKI AND TETORA...IVE ALREADY DISCUSSED THIS A FEW TIMES THOUGH... i have a huge soft spot for them. ritsu too. they get like 2 interactions (sweets hunter story, craftmonsters recent gacha) but ritsus humor is just so DRY and u can see niki be like (cogs turning in his head) Whar? its really silly ALSO HE CALLS HIM NIKIPYON....IS THAT NOT PERFECT... i need them to be friends

i like niki and mayois friendship, but its admittedly not my favorite; i like how niki feels like he can trust mayoi implicitly and how he tries to make him comfortable too — i think theyre both quite similar irt self image/esteem although they both go about it in different ways. their interactions can be sweet but one thing that stops me from enjoying them fully is how mayoi always seems kind of uncomfortable (and niki seems unaware of how/why he's uncomfortable) ;_; i hope that in the future the writers can let mayoi be more at peace around him, it'd be sweet!!

What is a normie?

Is the worst nostalgia the nostalgia you have for a time you weren't even alive to remember? I don't think I'm alone in my generation for feeling envious of people who got to experience the last decade of individualism right before me, in the nineties.

I go back and forth on it. Reading Chuck Klosterman on the nineties, how we we could enjoy technology without being enslaved to it, american consumerism seemed so harmlessly fun like early youtube before ads, it's hard not to see the time as adam & eve in the garden of eden before eve met the serpent, through a contemporary lens. Then I get cynical about it, how I'd still find things and people to hate like Bill Hicks did. Or how deceiving age can be, that the younger years are remembered better than the older, present years. I think we just romanticize the past to repress the knowing that we'll always have something good we took for granted only in retrospect.

In retrospect that has to be the individualism. And the most pointed approach to compare 90s individualism to today is to start by defining what a normie is. In 2024, a normie is someone who scrolls through executions in third world countries when work is slow. Someone who knows podcasters better than their own family members. Someone who is afraid to take the airpods out. It is someone who has seen more sex than the amount of sex their grandparents ever had. People or animals. By the age of 16. Again I don't want to romanticize a time I wasn't around for or be too cynical of the present but goddammit I know people had an imagination beyond fucking spongebob memes and office references. It's not just that a 90s normie is less depressed than today's normies, better question what is an individual today? If you are an individual today, you do not have a niche hobby like coin collecting or you play the didgeridoo. If you are an individual today you must have an in depth knowledge of government sponsored satanic pedophile cults, transhumanism, the singularity, CIA psy-ops & coups, the federal reserve, proxy wars, mRNA vaccines, mind control, special prosecutors, ballistics, and if just the awareness alone doesn't make you jaded enough, the ostracization by friends, family, would-be-friends, and would-be-family will leave you standing on a sidewalk on a cinematic fall day, kids launching off swings into raked piles of leaves, mothers pushing strollers wondering if maybe it's YOU.

Yes the normies in the 90s were a little too naïve but they were unique at heart. We weren't supposed to stay that way forever, but this hip kind of narcisstic nihilism should not be the successor to that naïve but aspiring individualism in the nineties. The human's evolution of consciousness starts out as gullible, recklessly curious as a child, then undergoes a melancholic metamorphosis throughout adolescene before a level-headed, purpose-driven adult can emerge. I think the last pre-internet era, the 60s through the 90s was the childhood of the current collective conscious. Enjoying and benefiting from acid, rock n roll, consumerism with some class and imagination - a very apelike enlightenment before the childlike wonder wears off, naturally, but saturated through conformity pressures stifiling pure creativity, conditioning to the 9-5 starts in kindergarten. Then the information-age up until covid was the edgy adolescene. Having the what-you-were-taught innocence questioned in a forum then unrecognizably changed emerging from a rabbit hole. 9/11, pearl harbor, JFK, like finding out santa claus isn't real, drawing swastikas over the teacher's marks on your space race report.

People should have graduated by the end of covid. This is still the information age, but it's now post-covid and pre-singularity. Time to grow up and stop being so naïve or sardonic.

About me

I love drawing! My memory of how I got into art is a bit hazy, but I know it all started with the classic game Undertale. This amazing game sparked my interest, and with admiration and dedication, I drew Sans the skeleton for the first time. My younger self was captivated by the result, and that’s when I found my favorite hobby—art and drawing.

The same thing happened with animation. Watching so many animations related to the game made me want to bring my own characters to life, and Undertale pushed me to dive into animation. Then I discovered Animation Memes, which only fueled my passion more, turning me into an energetic kid with every animation I made, starting from 2016.

Sadly, I had to leave my old animation channel and start fresh on TikTok! I don't post animations as often, but my dedication is still there. Now I’m exploring more things—and maybe even some new ones!

Oh, I couldn't agree more with the PTSD. And the hyoer vigilance. I've been re-watching episodes 63 and 64, and there's something specific about the way he goes from having his "full" attention on Jellal to turning around to face Erza in a slip second when she moves twice.

And the concepts of love? I'm pretty sure he thought it was *normal*, the way Brain treated him. To be expected, love is conditional, your self worth tied to being able to earn it and vice versa. The kind of acceptance that, indeed, would take a long time to undo. As you said with the knives, the learnt sadism and giving back what was done to him... I don't even know if I'm repeating myself, I'm just amazed by the fact that not only do I agree with you, but your points make so much sense. At no point do I feel like saying "I respect that, but I have a fundamentally different view of this character". It makes me rethink his fight with Richard, too. Did he create a mirage of himself being defeated to lower Richard's guard and deliver a single hit instead of having to hurt him at length (which he's eager to do to Eve, Ren although he gets bored there, Jellal and Erza) or is it torture? Showing him that he's hurting his adoptive younger brother, in parallel to Richard's desire to find Wally? Although Richard was willing to fight, so...? Is it just trying to win the fight no matter what? He gets panicked in the middle of it, or shows an illusion of it, so is it really worth it, when it affects him like that? Should that part of the thrash can and call it a day, despite feeling like it's an important moment?

I had never thought about him wanting to hurt whoever he fancies. It's... Fitting. I had always approached it from the view that he half wants and half expects to be hurt, because that's likely the only love he's known, the only "love" he had for, give or take, eight years. Sure, it wasn't from a lover, but somehow that makes it worse. Considering we have no clue of his life prior to the tower and he never brings it further than to to say his name (which... I had watched the original anime while trying to get a better grip on Midnight's character. Sometimes an anime is really good at bringing out the spark in a manga that was missing in still black and white, and the Fairy Tail anime's first half was one of them. It's a shame they switched studios, because the 2014 anime just didn't hit the same. I can't think of a similar moment in the second anime like Midnight's appearance.

Like, he's genuinely chilling. His bored drawl, the unconcerned way he holds himself, the completely calm way he talks about how he wants to torment and hurt people. He's small and skinny and even looks pretty emo, so he shouldn't be that threatening, but the camera angles they use, the sound cues they use, it all works. They expand on his fight with Jellal, which in the manga is entirely offscreen. Watching him wordlessly and disaffectly fail to react to anything Jellal throws at him before smiling and putting him down with Spiral Pain? Cold as fuck. I tried to capture that.

Lan Xichen! I should caveat that I started with CQL and I'm still working my way through the novels and animated series. So I might be missing key information.

Headcanon: Not to make everything about NHS, but I loooove the idea of NHS and LXC never really getting each other their whole lives. Like they're inextricably tied together by their bonds with other characters and the events of the story, and on the surface it seems like they'd have an intrinsic understanding of each other. And maybe they even think they each understand the things the other person isn't saying. But they don't!!! It's partially that their priorities and temperaments are different from each other, and semi-hidden from the people they would ideally be open with. But it's also that they see each other through the lens of their mutual relationships rather than just face to face. Also I think the more complicated, sad resentment they have for each other, the more savory and delicious it all is.

Heartcanon: I think it's fun and funky when he's a bit scary. A guy with quite a mild communication style who's trying very hard to keep a lid on some veeery intense feelings

Gutcanon: This is a guy who used to always get migraines when he was younger. He's outgrown them by cultivating, but is unable to remove any of the stressors that made him get them in the first place. So while negotiating or mediating a conflict, he gets a floater in his eye & he's just like Oh wonderful :) I suspect this will have consequences for me later :)

I think all of 3zun are migraine havers in their own ways. Just a gut feeling, you know how it is

Junkcanon: I sat here for minutes wondering why a junkcanon (which obviously is a headcanon that is like junk food) would be included in a list of body-part canons. Umm i think he's the service verse of all time. And while I think it can get kinda overdone and one-dimensonal, I really do love when he has an airheaded side. That's so handsome of him

Spleencanon: Although it is very gorgeous and tormented of him to stay in seclusion indefinitely, I do want to see this change. If not for closure and healing purposes, then at least to cause problems for others in some capacity. I think he deserves this
