Go ask Alice Alix
I think she’ll know
When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's off with her head
Remember what the dormouse said
Feed your head
Feed your head
White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane
And if you go chasing rabbits And you know you're going to fall Tell 'em a hookah-smoking caterpillar Has given you the call Call Alice Alix When she was just small

A collection of rambling thoughts about London under the cut. spoilers, obv.
The idea that the butterfly's champions Never remember is straight up Canonically not true right? First thing the special says and it's straight bullshit.
The Gorilla grabs Bug Noire's hand to stop her from destroying the door. Can we talk about how stupid dangerous that was? If she doesn't react in time you Die. Bro.
Kagami definitely disapproves of the lying plan, but the "go away ladybug" line, doesn't strike me as angry at her (which is a read i've seen). It feels like Kagami giving her an out before she says something stupid and outs herself, to me.
"And you will need it." The fuck was that Tikki? Oh. Oh you little shit.
"There's no such thing as ghosts." Excuse me you have a fairy literally inside you right now but ghosts definitely DO NOT exist, sure.
Both of Lila's akumatizations being boy shaped could easily be a laudable commitment to disguise. Certainly she's known to be good at it. But. Do you think she has Gender? (also, it was ridiculous (utterly ridiculous) when they tried to play off Kagami's gender as a big reveal. but this is worse. it'd be one thing to they/them akuma!Lila just because the audience knows. but 'Bug says he once and Bunnyx corrects her. they Always assume gender! sometimes incorrectly! (see Kagami) and they commit to it. (is this an english only problem??))
We all love Nathalie for waking up from dead and saying "Time to kill Gabriel again." But she knows she's only awake because he made the wish. She goes down there, crossbow in hand, expecting to find Gabriel And Emilie. (i don't think she coulda killed him in front of her.)
"The light is already on. They were always here." There is only one timeline forever. But then what the hell is Bunnyx's job. Timetagger, yes. A villain gets timeywimey powers, gotta stop em, a reasonable use of time police. "Marinette you made a wrong decision for the timeline (what? how?) and now you gotta stop Chat from blowing up." Stupid. The elder buns knew this was coming. But they still fade. This show has a fixed timeline. But parts of it explicitly involve risking the timeline itself and pretending there's a world where they might lose? Astruc get your shit together.
Using papillon to refer to the new unnamed butterfly holder makes sense. Translating that as Hawk Moth does not.
Marinette: Should I lie to Adrien about his dad? Everyone else: Definitely not. But you're Ladybug and his girlfriend so we trust your decision. (what?) Marinette: Got it. Time to lie.
Calling the lucky charm to get untangled is fucking great. (i'm never gonna be over this actually.)
Completely in love with the London fight. A portal fight is always sick. And the fact that it's Bunnyx in control of the portals, not Chronobug? the team work! And I'm, like, distractingly into the song in the back half. The bug's out here sayin' all this cool shit and I can't hear her cause my brain is Locked In on the music. (and i am not known to notice a soundtrack)
Lila has never interested me. I Love Chloé, and Gabriel and Nathalie are the loves of my life, but Lila's villainy just doesn't do anything for me. (Maybe if she were allowed to be a person, I guess.) But. If Lila's willing to get Fucky with it, poke around with the rules of the miraculous. I think I can get behind her. (a villain with more cunning than gabriel will be fun. the butterfly is immensely powerful and he was too dumb to use it well <3)

Okay it took a while, and devolved from a story you could read while listening to the song, to a story inspired by the song. But I still like it. My earlier post still stands btw, if you can guess the song/animatic that is behind this story you can force me to make a gacha video for Faybon for it. If you wanted to, you don't HAVE to do that.a
He could feel the darkness pounding away at the mask he wore. He could practically hear the flapping of the Akuma wings echoing inside his brain as he struggled to calm his breathing. He'd pulled away from everyone the moment the thoughts started. It was easy, nobody ever noticed when he disappeared, he'd done it too often for them to be concerned anymore. He had found a spot to be alone and collapsed to the ground, burying his face into his knees. He was used to being on his own, he couldn't operate if he didn't have this peace.
Pushing the darkness back he tried to think of his friends, the bubbling Rose as she smiled just to see him participating. He thought of the kids at the orphanage, living and laughing and him being there to help them enjoy it as much as possible.
“Yet who can say they'd be any different if you weren't here? The timeline must stay the same, remember?”
Just like that his throat tightened and he struggled to swallow, he needed a drink, why did he always think like this? Why couldn't he enjoy this happiness? Why did he always come back to what Bunnyx had told him? That an entire life had already been lived by all those people and she had seen it. Nothing had changed, she had made sure of that with all her interference… and once again the anger hit.
Sure future Alix had said she never regretted bringing him back here. That she enjoyed the time with him explaining what other timelines with him had become, that she'd correct things a million more times if it meant he would stay with the rest of their friends. She was doing so much for him when she didn't have to. When he messed everything up because he thought he knew better than the time traveler. That he could fix things if he just had a Miraculous or if he let himself get akumatised or if he confronted Gabriel to get him to look after Adrien better.
Still… he wished he could have kept Talli… he'd have promised to never use her powers if he could have just had someone to talk to. Someone he could vent to, who he could be honest with about everything. Seeing the little kwami, forced into being as yet another one of ShadowMoths ploys to get his wish… had made his heart ache. He could only imagine how that timelines version of him felt as he took her in, named her, cared for her and kept her safe. His first secret… even as Ladybug asked him to keep a lookout should he spot anything he had kept the Miraculous covered.
Bunnyx had shown him all that and more. How Talli had begged him to hand her over to Ladybug once they realised her powers were incomplete. How she couldn't keep him safe while transformed… he'd just smiled. He was finally able to help in a way only he could. He could take over for Ladybug or Chat without Shadow Moth ever noticing, thus keeping their identities safe. He could pretend to be any of the other Miraculous holders even if Ladybug couldn't get away to grab them. Any pain was worth it if he could help them, that's all he’d ever wanted…
Then he pushed it too far. Pushed ShadowMoth too far. Being backed into a corner the purple villain did the only thing he could think of, he created a sentimonster whose sole purpose was to beat Ladybug and Chat Noir. Then he akumatised it to give it all the limitless power it could need. Destroying the object did nothing at that point, its power stretched beyond that now, it crossed into Bunnyx’s realm and every possible timeline it could before she shut it down. All to anchor itself… To win she had to reset time again, go back before ShadowMoth got the idea to create Talli because that's as far back as the akumatised sentibeast had gotten.
But the moment she opened a burrow it was there… so that version of me went to stop it. He pushed Talli well past the limit…. Which meant there was no protection from what the beast did. Again and again he transformed to hold it back until Bunnyx hit reset… and being unable to see what that version had done to himself was the only thing Bunnyx had been grateful for… if even having powers meant he couldn't make a difference without it all going terribly wrong then why did he keep trying? Why did he keep putting himself out there when his own darkness became so hard to hold back? One slip up and he'd become an Akuma impossible to stop… he knew that… Bunnyx had shown him how that had happened many times before.
“You okay there little paradox?” Speaking of time travelers… Faybon sighed and lifted up his head more than ready to see the redhead’s teasing grin beneath her bunny ears. What he hadn't expected was to see the vast whiteness that was the burrow surrounding him. “You seemed like you needed a little space.” She said, smiling more softly than he ever recalled her doing before.
With the fear of an Akuma no longer hovering above his head the mask he was wearing broke. The hateful feelings swarming now that he was in the place outside of time, the place that proved just how little his wants mattered. “Why Alix? Why me? Why do all this for someone who’s not supposed to be here.” His voice cracked as he said it. “It's not like I'm close to present you, so you don't get anything out of it.”
“Fluff. Counterclockwise.” He looked up as the transformation ended, staring at the future form of his classmate as all the windows around them went still. “There is a method to my madness you know.” She said as she took a seat next to him, leaning against the blank wall that didn't really seem to be there. “My powers are a last resort for a reason, I don't normally get do overs if something goes wrong, I'm not like Viperion. Sure I can reverse damage and change the timeline but what I saw? What I experienced? It all gets erased, I'm the only one who remembers it all.”
“And?” Faybon asked slowly, eyes widening in surprise as she handed the pocket watch over to him.
“Take it from me, I know exactly what type of misery you're going through, being unable to change things for the better because there is a timeline I have to stick to.” For the first time Faybon could ever remember Alix looked vulnerable. She looked scared. Sure he’d seen Bunnyx look like that when he was shown the events of Chat Blanc but Alix herself? Was completely new to him. “I've just had several more years to grow numb to it.”
“That can't be healthy…” he said softly, still not taking the Miraculous from her.
“No… it's not. But I have to keep going. I have to keep the timeline on track.” She tried to smile but Faybon had been around enough girls on the verge of crying to see the tears she was holding back. “And every time I need to change things it's because you have to help your friends and I get hit with that same regret that I can't let it happen.” She held out the watch more earnestly this time. “I won't undo what I did with you Faybon, I can't be the only one remembering the type of person you are. I couldn't bear to talk to minibug or kitten Noir and have them suddenly not know your name.” She swallowed and Faybon knew she was feeling the same tightness in her throat as he had. “But if you did it? If you went back right before I dropped you off and placed yourself somewhere else? In some other time? I'd forget too.”
Reaching out he took the watch from her and saw her slump down further, but it wasn't from relief. “You never answered my question Alix. Why do you go through all this for me?” He asked as he stood up.
“Because you reminded me that time is just a bunch of pit stops. That you could keep the end destination the same while still making the journey more bearable.” Alix took a deep breath and looked up at him. “That if we get caught up in what we can't change we stop trying to see what we can, and at that point why even bother living.”
While Faybon understood the sentiment there was something about her smile that seemed… odd. “Who gave you that advice?” He asked, taking a shot in the dark.
She chuckled and gave him a smirk. “You did. The first time I came back to undo a timeline you'd made.” Her smirk widened at his shock. “You were quick to agree once you saw what had happened, the relationships between everyone were all types of messed up. But you just shrugged and said you'd try something else.” She continued before he could voice his thoughts. “I’d done so much to try and make it work, before finally accepting that it couldn't, that hearing you say that kind of made me snap. I was so stressed out that you'd hate me and want nothing to do with me and here you were saying you'd just mess up something else?”
“I take it there's a reason I don't remember this?” Faybon asked as he passed the Miraculous between his hands, thankful that Fluff had stayed quiet so far.
“You waited until I calmed down and then gave me the advice I just gave you. After which you told me to go back earlier so you wouldn't remember the conversation.” Now Faybon was really confused, it was rare when he asked for his memory to be erased. Even rarer for Bunnyx to agree. “You said it was because you didn’t want to remember the timeline I showed you,” she smirked again and stood up while pointing over his shoulder, “it's why I kept you from that window over there.” He didn't bother to look. “But I think we both know that wasn't the actual reason was it?” Alix’s voice softened again and Faybon realised just how big a weight had been placed on her shoulders with the Miraculous.
He didn't hesitate in answering her. “If I had known you felt like that I would never have let myself breakdown like I just did.” He said firmly. “Knowing there's a chance you could see it as you peered through the timelines I would have kept to myself even harder. The last thing I'd want to do is cause you any more pain.” Faybon took one more glance down at the Miraculous before handing it back to her. “I think we both can get a little too lost in our heads. So what do you say we push past our faults and imagined monsters and keep being the bad asses we are?”
Alix chuckled before transforming again. “Oh I agree one of us is awesome. But both?”
Rolling his eyes, Faybon turned to the window he came in from, his fears and worries laid to rest for now. “If I kept you on track all these messed up timelines later I think I must have done something right don't you?” He asked as he waited for her to open it up so he could step through.
Always needing the last word Bunnyx's voice carried through the burrow just before it closed. “Like I said, I agree with you, go cause some more trouble king.”
Faybon stared at the wall where the burrow had been in shock before he started to laugh. He’d thought of Bunnyx as overbearing many times before but he couldn't deny having also felt safe. Having someone who would always be there for you was something special, he just hoped she knew the reverse was also true. Shaking his head he returned to his friends, humming a little tune to himself.

the calm before the storm
Part 5 of too little, too late
(Originally based on @sabertoothwalrus comic here ♥)
Also on Ao3!
Bunnyx gives Chat a fast-and-loose run through of her plan, then ends it by saying the ‘finer details’ are up to him to decide. And when he just stares at her in horror, she continues,
“You see, there can never be just one plan. That would never work. One plan means one chance to get it right, and that’s not really my style.”
If possible, he feels more confused. “So there is more than one plan?”
She waves her hand in a clarifying manner. “Don’t think about it that way. Think about it like” - she cuts off, eyes wandering up and away as if searching for the words on the burrow walls themselves - “Time is everywhere and makes up everything, but it isn’t as static as people tend to think. The future’s always changing, right? Undulating intangibly around us, ebbing in and out of shape with our every action. And while it can be a docile force - if you have true intentions and a clear vision of your own future - it can also be a punishing one. So the true plan? Anticipate the unpredictability of time. Shift with it. Be adaptive, be flexible. Don’t let the disruption of one path or course of action derail you from your goal. Shit happens, you understand? The point is to keep moving forward. Make another plan. You have everything you need now, and I know you’ve got the brains up in that angsty little teenage head of yours to execute a victory no matter the obstacles thrown your way.”
He feels his bravado, which he’d been steadily gathering up until now, shudder and creak.
“You make it sound so easy.”
For a moment neither one of them speaks, a dozen heartbeats passing before Bunnyx finally says, sounding a thousand years old and ten at the same time,
“Did you know, time sings as it passes?”
Chat blinks up at her, taken aback by the words. “It sings?”
Something ubiquitous flicks through her eyes. “Yes. It sings. And if you slow down enough to actually, truly listen, you’ll always know what to do. The universe wants to guide you. We are all a part of it, caught in the inhale-exhale of its cycle. What are humans if not star energy condensed into wanting vessels? The vibrations of our souls ache to be in alignment with the unending rhythm of the universe, a song that has played since the beginning of time, and that will continue to play long after we’re both dead and gone. And it does not play in secret, but to guide. You just have to listen.”
Gooseflesh rise in waves over Chat’s skin as Bunnyx talks, and he experiences a strange strike of sorrow; the same foreign, tangling of grief that comes whenever his thoughts bring him too close to an existential crisis. But it’s somehow worse because it's Bunnyx saying these things. She might be older than him, but she’s still young - so young - to be talking as if from the experience of a hundred lives.
Hell, what does he know? Maybe that’s exactly what it feels like, being in here.
“Once Ladybug is deakumatized, once she’s - better,” Chat says slowly, “I’ll talk to her. We’ll figure something out so that you don’t have to stay in the burrow anymore.”
Bunnyx smiles, a weighty thing. “It’s that big heart of yours that makes me so confident you’ll succeed.” She leans forward to ruffle his hair as she says this, and he lets her, his heart constricting tightly in his chest as she does. “But I don’t need to be rescued. I’m where I need to be.”
With rising intensity, Chat says, “How can you be so sure about something so monumental? Where does that conviction come from?”
She gives him that look again that makes him feel like a child speaking to someone ancient, and says, “Experience, Kitty Noir. There’s no shortcut for growing up.”
Chat’s gaze falls. It isn’t what he was hoping to hear, right now.
Bunnyx, astute as ever, seems to pick up on this instantly. “You’re still feeling doubts.”
“How could I not?”
“Adrien,” she says, surprising him by saying his civilian name while he’s still wearing the bell and ears, but it's clear when he looks at her that this had been the point. “I think the issue is that you need to learn how to have faith.”
Like a knee jerk, Chat says, “I know how to do that!”
Bunnyx parries, “Oh, really? Then answer me this: I believe in you, Adrien. Can you believe in yourself?”
The words tangle the tongue in Chat’s throat. It feels like a loaded question… A familiar one. Like those that had plagued his restless nights over the last few months. (Although during those moments, the question hadn’t been so much ‘do I believe in myself?’ as it had been, ‘does Ladybug believe in me?’ It was only as evidence seemed to suggest no, she didn’t, that Adrien actually did begin to doubt himself. To question. Renouncing Plagg became all too easy after enough sleepless nights filled with nothing but self deprecating thoughts.)
But none of those insecurities feel relevant now.
None of those old hurts can hold a candle to the flame the memories of Marinette had ignited inside of him, so even if he might not believe in himself - not fully, not yet - he believes in his love for Marinette.
Fully.
Relentlessly.
A calm washes over him as these feelings only swell in size, as if in emphasis of their enormity, and he realizes: nothing else matters. Marinette loves him, and he loves her. That will be enough.
He meets Bunnyx’s steadfast gaze unblinkingly. “I’m ready.”
-
The pads of Chat’s fingers linger over the warm metal of the cat miraculous, snug in its spot under his second knuckle. He has grown so familiar with the weight of it that he thinks he could identify it in a pile of replicas all varying in density.
Yet in this moment, it has never felt heavier.
He’s standing in front of the burrow hole that Bunnyx has opened back onto his father’s private jet.
After she had opened the hole Bunnyx had stood beside Adrien and said, “I’m not going with you.” But he had already known that. “I need to stay in my burrow in case I need to jump back into the past at a moment’s notice” - and he had heard the unspoken in case you fail - but he had already known that, too. Can feel the gravity of the responsibility ahead of him.
If Bunnyx does have to step back in, he doubts it’ll be into a timeline where he - the Adrien he is in this moment - still exists.
Chat finally breaks the silence. “Can you tell him I’m sorry?” meaning this Plagg. He doesn’t look up from where he’s fiddling with the ring, twisting it in a circle around his finger. “Tell him - I’m going to make things right.”
“I’ll tell him,” says Bunnyx, “But I’m sure he already knows.”
Chat’s eyes flick up to catch the tweak of encouragement on her lips. He swallows thickly. Then grips the ring to twist and pull.
“I renounce you, Plagg.”
The ring comes off and Adrien is overtaken in green-white light, his hand coming out automatically to deposit it in Bunnyx’s hand. His capacities once again swoon as the gravity of the burrow dawns over his human perception, and Bunnyx quickly swings him around so that he isn’t facing the enormity of it, twisting him forward towards the open ended burrow hole.
Her hands squeeze his shoulders. “Good luck, Adrien.”
His hand comes up reflexively to grip the single Ladybug earring pierced through his ear. Then he steps forward.
-
It is dark in the jet kitchen. Utterly silent save for the underlying hum of appliances and the rattle of Adrien’s shallow breath. His sandwich is still open and half made on the counter to his right and the sight sends a strange jolt through him, making him twitch uncomfortably.
For a handful of long moments, Adrien remains totally still. Needing a moment to gather his bearings before facing everyone again. He isn’t sure how he’ll be received, after all.
Rena’s agonized eyes flash back through Adrien’s memory, then the shell-shocked state that Carapace had been reduced to, and finally Viperion’s downcast gaze, his remorseful silence... Adrien had left them all in varying states of distress and distrust, and now he is meant to lead them into what is undoubtedly the most dangerous battle any of them have ever fought. And, he can do it - he knows he can - but he just. Needs a minute.
The jet dips beneath him, a drastic shift in direction causing Adrien to sway and stumble to regain his balance.
Adrien’s eyes fly over to the portholes at the edge of the kitchen entrance. Before he’d stepped into the burrow the sky had been black behind them, but now they are filled with a color - while still dark - that is a different shade than night; too starless, too gray, a dusting of dawn behind meandering clouds.
He has to have been gone for hours, for the sun to be so close to rising. In the burrow, it had felt like minutes.
Suddenly, Adrien is feeling a lot more antsy about their time restraints.
He moves decisively out of the kitchen and into the hallway in search of the others, hoping they haven’t flown too far from Paris while he’s been gone. Beginning at the first door, Adrien opens and closes four or five doors - leading to empty rooms - before he hears the answering sound of footsteps clapping down the hallway behind him.
Adrien pulls out of the current room he’d been checking to see Nino racing down the hallway towards him, looking seconds from bursting into tears.
“Adrien!” Nino yells, “You’re back!” and flings his arms around him to drag him into a fierce hug.
Emotion bloats heavily in Adrien’s throat - he’s just so relieved to know he and Nino are still on good enough terms to exchange hugs.
In a watery voice, Adrien says, “Hey, Nino.”
Nino unleashes a tidal wave of words onto him - an apology, Adrien realizes as his friend barrels on, as if he’s rehearsed these words and has been waiting to say them to him once he got back. And Adrien is so astonished, so touched, that all he can do is listen.
But when Nino says, “I’m so sorry I wasn’t a better friend, dude -” Adrien has to pull him to a stop.
“Nino, you’re an amazing friend. I was just -” but Adrien doesn’t know how to finish that sentence, so he changes direction. “ I shouldn’t have thrown that conversation back in your face. I’m sorry.”
Nino’s expression goes severely serious, eyebrows cutting down in two sharp lines.
“Dude, no. I shouldn’t have said that about you - I mean, Chat Noir. He’s - You’re,” he sighs in frustration, scrubbing a hand down his face. “What I’m trying to say is: I should’ve been a better friend to Chat Noir . You’ve never let us down, in or out of costume. And I know you say you’ve forgiven me or whatever, but like - I won’t forgive myself if I’ve made you think you’re expendable because, dude. You’re invaluable.”
A warmness swells in Adrien and he yanks Nino back into another crushing hug. The two of them cling to each other in the tight space of the jet hallway, Adrien biting his tongue to keep the tears at bay.
“Are you done apologizing, yet?” Comes a high pitched voice from the direction Nino had come from, “Can we come out now?”
Adrien and Nino pull apart, and this time, there’s a peace in Nino’s eyes that Adrien feels reflected in his heart.
Nino claps Adrien on the shoulder and turns back to yell, “Yeah, you can come out! We’re cool.”
Wayzz, Trixx, and Alya step forward down the corridor into view. Which left Luka and Sass tucked somewhere out of sight, but Adrien hadn’t fought with them . Luka could probably sense the heavy vibe Alya is carrying with her down the hallway, and had determined their reunion didn’t need any more of an audience than it already has.
The three of them come to a stop a step or so behind Nino, Alya’s eyes locked to the floor. When they do lift, Adrien is surprised to see the sheepish shade in her gaze.
He realizes, suddenly, that he won’t be able to take it if Alya tries to apologize to him right now. All she did was care for Marinette and grieve when she was taken from them. She shouldn’t have to apologize for that.
Alya opens her mouth -
Adrien tips forward, brushing past Nino to crash into her. He wraps his arms around her in a bruising hug and she just stands there, frozen to the spot before a noise like a sob hiccups past her lips and her hands are coming up to match Adrien’s crushing hug in its strength.
“We’re going to save her,” Adrien whispers urgently against her hair, “I promise, we’ll save her.”
“I know,” Alya sniffles, “I know we will.” And when they pull back she drags her sleeve-clad arm over her eyes to wipe the tears. “So… Now you know?”
She doesn’t say the words out loud, but she doesn’t have to. Their shared knowledge of Ladybug’s true identity passes silently between them, and it hurts more than Adrien thought it would.
“If I had known,” Adrien begins, mouth working as he struggles to find the right words, “I never would have -”
“Adrien,” Alya says, hands coming up to cup his shoulders, head dipping forward to catch Adrien’s lowered gaze. “It isn’t your fault. Hey.” And then she shakes him, gently, just once to get his full attention, and when her efforts return his gaze to her, the look in her eyes is so indominably fierce that he doesn’t dare question what words leave her mouth next. “This is not your fault.”
But Adrien isn’t sure he can believe that. “Then whose fault is it?”
“Shadowmoth, of course.”
Their gazes snap to the side, because it hadn’t been Alya or Nino who had spoken. Coming down the long hallway alongside Luka and Sass, is Jessica Keynes, her kwami Liiri, and her sister Aeon.
“Jessica,” Adrien says, the name coming out sounding like a gasp. “Aeon? How are you here?”
Luka says, “Future Adrien got ahold of them.”
Aeon nods, while a look crosses Jessica’s face like she’s still trying to wrap her head around this time travel ordeal.
“Apparently,” Jessica says, “We’re pretty tight in the future.”
“Yeah,” adds Nino, like he can’t help himself, “And apparently there’s like a million of us miraculous holders all around the world and there’s a secret organization we’re all apart of -”
“Nino,” Alya and Wayzz admonish in near perfect unison, effectively making Nino’s mouth clamp shut.
“I - he told you about the future?” asks Adrien incredulously.
Wayzz says, “Yes, and you shouldn’t have.”
“It jeopardizes the continuity of the timeline, it’s true,” adds Sass.
“The dude was dying,” cuts in Jessica, her tone of voice defensive on older Adrien’s behalf. “If it was me, I would’ve done the same thing. More, probably.”
And it’s so unexpectedly sweet, hearing someone stick up for him, even his future self, that it makes fondness bead up in Adrien’s chest for her. If they are close in the future, he can already see why.
Her words set off a bout of debate amongst the kwami’s and their holders, and amidst the noise Adrien feels Alya tug at his shirt sleeve.
He turns to find her eyes brimmed with unshed tears, and she whispers, so the words can be for Adrien and no one else, “I told him, before you - before he disappeared. I told him about Marinette.”
The words hit Adrien square in the chest, then rise to bloat heavily on the back of his tongue. He swallows thickly, trying to comprehend this feeling inside him. It feels too enormous to dissect. It feels like if he tries, he might drive himself crazy instead.
He wonders whether the knowledge of Ladybug being Marinette comforted the older version of himself in his last moments, or whether it had just dug the knife in deeper.
Adrien’s voice comes out sandpaper rough, “Thank you, Alya. You’re a good friend.”
Her smile wobbles, her hand finding and squeezing his.
-
“So what’s the plan?” asks Jessica.
They’ve migrated from the hallway into one of the jet’s many boardrooms, the six of them filling up the upper half of the long, skinny table inside. It feels weird sitting at it with the others, the large straight-back chairs built for tall, broad men, not a ragtag bunch of teens. The fact that Adrien is the only one without a special power or miraculous doesn’t help; he feels like a child whose feet are dangling off the edge of a chair pulled up to the big kids table (even though his feet are, in reality, planted very firmly on the floor.)
Adrien tries to smother the feeling from existence.
“We don’t have much time,” Jessica continues, “Our moms were in an emergency Category Five meeting when we left New York, and if they haven’t noticed we're gone already, they will soon.”
Adrien makes a strangled noise. “Your moms don’t know you’re here?!” As if there isn’t enough to worry about, he does not want to add ‘the possibility of Majestia blasting in through the nearest door’ to the ever growing list.
“It’s okay,” Aeon assures, “They’ll still be indisposed for a few more hours. They’re trying to decide whether or not they should deploy heroes to eliminate Gaiabug, or whether the situation calls for something more… drastic.”
Adrien’s eyebrows furrow. “Drastic like how?”
Aeon turns to share a shuttered look with Jessica, who says, “Like dropping a nuke over Gaiabug’s location.”
“What?!” Adrien nearly shouts, the others chiming in with their own cries of horror around the table. “That wouldn’t just destroy Gaiabug - it could destroy the entire continent!”
Aeon’s gaze drops as if in shame. Shame not for herself, but for her moms’ hand in this type of decision. “We know. That’s why we came here to help you guys, to bring Ladybug back. Because without her power to reverse damage…”
“It doesn’t look good,” Jessica continues, “With Ladybug gone, the leaders of the world don’t see a way to go back and undo. Because there isn’t. They have to move forward and navigate the most realistic course of action given the circumstances of the real world. They don’t have a bunch of magical ladybugs to rely on, this time. Even if they could neutralize Gaiabug, reclaiming her territory would cost trillions of dollars and would jeopardize the lives of the heroes who would have to do the work. In their eyes, it isn’t worth it. In their eyes, if they can at least stop her foliage from branching off to the rest of the world, then at the very least an apocalypse can be avoided.”
Adrien’s heart is beating hollowly inside him, a sickly pound humming loudly in his ears. The words have instilled a terrified silence around the table, not even the kwami’s having something to add. Long moments pass, the room suddenly feeling smaller, and smaller.
It’s Nino that finally breaks the silence.
“But Bunnyx had a plan, right?” He turns to Adrien, frantically. “Right? You know what we need to do?”
The others are turning to Adrien now too, expectantly. Dutifully. But more than that, as if in search of reassurance. For a stark, blinding moment of clarity, Adrien’s vision flashes and he sees them for what they truly are. A ragtag bunch of teens, sure, but more than that a dedicated team of superheroes, capable of rising to the challenge.
Bunnyx’s voice echoes in his mind, ‘All of us have faith in you. The challenge of a leader then is to take that faith and place it back into your teammates.’
Adrien takes a deep breath, and starts talking.
-
Everyone disperses once Adrien finishes outlining the plan.
They stalk down the hallway like the procession of a funeral, grave expressions mirrored on every face as they scatter into different rooms to ‘get ready’, though Adrien guesses that’s really code for ‘needing time to process.’
Adrien lets them go. Lets them have the space they need to work themselves up to the battle ahead of them. It will be a daunting one indeed. He wanders around the jet as a way to occupy his racing thoughts, and he finds his nanny still sleeping outside his bedroom door on the couch there. Adrien huffs at the sight. It’s actually impressive - the fact he hasn’t woken yet. Maybe, he might even make it to the morning without ever having known that the world almost ended.
Adrien affords himself a single, selfish moment to imagine laying down, of falling asleep and awakening to find that everything had been a dream; his renunciation; Ladybug’s akumatization; the pain. But then he would have never found out Ladybug’s identity, and he realizes, more selfish still than his previous fantasy, that he wouldn’t give that up for anything in the world.
He goes to speak to the pilot.
Alya had told Adrien his future self had given the man order to circle high above Paris, both to stay out of sight and remain close to Gaiabug’s location. The pilot - a middle aged man who Adrien thinks is both a husband and a father - looks shaken and grim-faced when Adrien arrives, and they share a stilted greeting wherein he stares at Adrien like he’s a ghost (a reaction, Adrien assumes, is due to him having seen and spoken to the adult version of himself only hours ago) before his eyes jump compulsively back out the front windshield.
Adrien begins very gingerly, “I wanted to thank you, for not just landing the plane and running at the earliest convenience. I promise you will be generously compensated by my father when all of this is over.”
“Compensated,” the pilot echoes, voice wavering as his eyes flick back over to Adrien. He looks terrified. “All I want is to be able to see my family again. Can you promise me that?”
Adrien swallows thickly. The severity of their situation knocks into him again, just as ferociously as it had in the burrow. If their plan doesn’t succeed, he won’t be the only one to lose someone forever.
Adrien meets the pilot's eye with unwavering determination. “You will see your family again. I promise.”
The pilot exhales shakily, grip readjusting on the wheel. “What do you need me to do, kid?”
Adrien looks out the windshield over the clouds in front of them. The first shades of morning light hug the underside of the bulbous shapes, transforming the view into a painting of contrasting shadows.
“We need to be taken back to the center,” he says, “Back to her location.”
The pilot shifts wordlessly to comply.
Adrien's eyes fall closed.
-
Adrien is down by the hatch door, readying the parachutes for those members of their group that can’t fly (which is to say, everyone but Uncanny Valley and Eagle) when Luka rounds the corner to join him in the private space.
His fingers pause in their inspection of the bag, and he says, “Oh, hey.”
“Hey,” Luka says. He smiles in that gentle way that always makes Adrien feel calm and at ease in his presence, his eyes tracking unhurriedly over the progress of the parachutes. “Everything in tip top shape?”
The corner of Adrien’s mouth twitches. “Almost.” He lifts the parachute bag in his hands and gives it a pointed shake, “This is the last one that needs to be inspected, and then we’ll be ready.”
Luka hums. There’s something off about him, Adrien realizes now that he’s paying attention, a reservation to his actions. He notices it in the slightest delay to Luka’s movements, the way he won’t quite meet Adrien’s eye.
Adrien sets the bag down, turning towards Luka to give him his full attention. “Is there something you wanted to talk about?”
Luka’s eyes rise to his. He looks guilty .
“Luka,” Adrien says, surprised, “What is” -
The words rush out of Luka in a burst. “I’m so sorry.”
And Adrien just blinks, it’s all he can do. Of everything he had expected to hear, that hadn’t even been on the list.
“What are you talking about?” Adrien’s eyebrows pinch together as he steps forward. “What could you possibly have to apologize for?”
Luka says, “I’ve already known you and Marinette are Ladybug and Chat Noir for weeks now.”
It’s like a needle shot through glass, the same sensation in Adrien’s chest.
Adrien squawks, “How -?”
“It was when we faced Wishmaker.”
Adrien absorbs those words like he would something sour. The idea that someone has known his secret identity for weeks makes him feel off balance, forcing him to once again reframe his world view to accommodate the information -just as he had to do with Bunnyx.
It seems time miraculous holders in particular come acutely inclined at keeping Adrien on his toes.
“I had to use my second chance a few times that day,” Luka continues, “Usually do, during missions. Usually have to use it a few hundred times more, actually. So I don’t always tell Ladybug every detail of every reset I’ve run - there aren’t enough hours in the day, ya know? But after Wishmaker… I didn’t just leave details out. Ladybug outright asked me if I had found out her identity, and - I lied. I blatantly lied. Not only had I found out her identity, I had found out yours as well and I'm just - I’m sorry. I’m so sorry I didn’t tell the truth.”
Through all this, Luka has steadily been working himself up into a state that Adrien has never seen him in before; he’s practically shaking.
“Luka,” Adrien urges, stepping forward to touch steady fingers to his forearm. When he doesn’t resist, Adrien tightens his grip, trying to put as much reassurance into the touch as he can, wanting to give Luka something solid to ground himself to. “It’s okay. None of that matters, now.”
“You don’t know that,” Luka argues, his gaze finally coming up to reveal the burn of a fight inside of them. “How can you be sure that isn’t the exact misstep that set us all tumbling down this cursed timeline?”
Adrien takes a moment to consider this.
“Maybe it was.” And when Luka gives him a look like he’s sprouted a second head - no doubt expecting Adrien to refute his words of doubt instead of spur them on - he continues, “Maybe that was the catalyst that set these events in motion, but I really don’t think it matters. Not anymore, at least. People make choices every day, Luka, some of them a lot worse than telling Ladybug a lie.” And then, meeting his eyes with a look of pointed intensity, “We all made choices to bring us here. Don’t try and take that weight alone . You’ll only drive yourself insane.”
Luka skews his gaze sidelong at him. “Bunnyx’s burrow did a number on your head, didn’t it?” His lips tweak as Adrien laughs. “And maybe you’re right, maybe it doesn’t matter anymore… But it’s been eating me alive and I just - I had to tell you.”
A quiet moment passes where neither one of them speaks.
Eventually, Adrien says, “She wouldn’t have been angry, you know.”
Luka gives him a dubious look, “Are we talking about the same Ladybug?”
Adrien snorts. “Alright, maybe she would’ve been mad if she had found out yesterday or last week. But I have a feeling after today, everything is going to change for the better.”
“Optimism,” Luka says with an approving lip-tweak, shoulders visibly relaxing from the rigid line they’d been in moments before, “I like it.”
They share a smile. It’s still such an overwhelmingly warm and bright feeling being with a friend, even in a situation as frightening as this.
“I would’ve done the same thing, by the way,” Adrien says, partly to make Luka feel better, partly because it’s true. If their places had been reversed and Adrien had been the one to find out Ladybug’s secret identity, he wouldn’t have willingly volunteered to forget the information either.
Pensively, Luka says, “I think I lied because knowing made me feel better. After me and Marinette broke up, I knew she was keeping something from me, that she wasn’t being truthful. I thought, you know, ‘she’s still in love with Adrien.’ And while I still believe that last part,” Luka emphasizes with a pointed look, making Adrien blush, “I guess finding out she’s Ladybug made me feel better because everything finally made sense. And I… I didn’t want to go back to feeling the way I had felt before finding out.”
Adrien nods. “I know how that feels. To want to be trusted with the truth and then be denied it.”
Luka’s eyes pass over his face, considering Adrien, though he can’t even begin to imagine what he might be thinking
“Luckily,” Luka raises a pointed eyebrow, “Everything is about to change, right?”
And Adrien repeats, more for himself than for Luka, “Everything is about to change.”
-
Fifteen minutes later everyone is suited up and strapped into parachutes, poised in a loose huddle around the now-open hatch of the jet.
Paris is ablaze below them. The panoramic view rolled out and pinned to the shadowed, still-sleepy horizon, Gaiabug’s thick foliage broken up only by the occasional fire.
Adrien’s eyes scour the obscure landscape below, searching for Gaiabug’s towering banyan tree. When he spots it, his heart constricts painfully in his chest.
I’ll save you, he thinks, Just hold on.
Finally, he turns to regard his team.
The wind is whipping wildly through the space, causing a riot of everyone’s hair and making them have to nearly shout in order to be heard.
Adrien says, “We ready?”
“As ready as we’ll ever be,” Carapace quips, sounding shaky despite his attempt at levity.
With more believable confidence, Uncanny Valley says, “We got this.”
Adrien says, “And everyone’s sure they know what to do?”
“We’re the distraction,” Eagle says, using her thumb to draw a line in the air between her, Rena, Carapace, and Viperion.
Rena continues, “We’ll lure Gaiabug out of her nest and keep her occupied while you and Uncanny locate Shadowmoth and his miraculous.”
“And I’ll use my second chance as soon as the two of you arrive to deakumatize her,” Luka adds, “Just in case something goes wrong.”
“Perfect,” Adrien says, feeling a rush of pride for them all. “I couldn’t have asked for a better team.”
Flattered but modest smiles shuffle around the group, until Eagle huffs and gently shoves at Adrien’s shoulder.
“Yeah, yeah,” she says, “Just don’t get killed, alright?”
“You too,” and speaks to all of them when he says, “Take care of each other.”
“We will,” Carapace reassures him, standing a little taller and broader as he makes the declaration. He is the shield of the group, after all.
“And you take care of him,” Eagle says to Uncanny, meaning Adrien. “Don’t let him do anything stupid.”
Uncanny nods, wearing a small, dutiful smile that hasn’t wavered since her transformation into her super form. “Yes, ma’am.”
Then a moment of silence as they all look around at each other. It occurs to Adrien that this might be the last time they’re all gathered together like this, intact and in one piece.
He shoves the thought fiercely from his mind.
“Good luck,” he tells them.
“Good luck,” they echo in return.
-
Rena and Carapace drop first, Rena to deploy the illusion and Carapace to protect her as she does. Eagle and Viperion follow swiftly after them, and then it’s just Adrien and Uncanny Valley perched alone on the hatch’s ledge.
“Thank you for coming with me to locate the butterfly miraculous,” Adrien tells her, “Thank you for being here at all, actually.”
Uncanny just smiles at him. “It’s very brave what you guys are doing, saving the world is no small feat. And I live in this world, don’t I? The least I can do is help.”
“Still,” Adrien says, “I need you to know I appreciate it.”
“I do,” she says, “You’re a very gracious leader. If I wasn't already working for my moms, I would be very proud to have a place on your team.”
A stinging pressure springs to Adrien’s eyes at the words, and he has to turn to look through the open hatch out over the panorama outside to keep the tears from fully forming and spilling over.
“It wouldn’t be my team without Ladybug,” he says, croakily.
Uncanny holds out her hand for him to take. “Then let’s go bring her home.”
-
Paris is eerily quiet.
Nothing but the faint whiz of the wind parting around Uncanny Valley as she flies over the canopy of Gaiabug’s foliage, Adrien grasped securely in her arms. He knows from the silence that the others can’t have intercepted Gaiabug yet, and his heart hangs suspended in his throat in anticipation for the initial clash.
The resulting sound of which, he’s sure, will be unmistakable when they do hear it.
The rousing sun is a vivid line on the horizon in front of them, minutes from pouring out onto the world. It is a stark reminder of their looming deadline. A manifestation of that time ticking down.
“There,” Uncanny says, “Target acquired.”
Adrien turns to look up at her, seeing her purple eyes trained on a spot below, silver and gold features clinically neutral. She’s in full superhero mode now.
He says, “We’ll wait until the others engage Gaiabug, then” -
He isn’t able to finish his sentence, cut off by an ear-splitting shriek piercing the air. It is a frightening, deafening sound. The world rumbles in its wake, shivering, quaking, as Adrien’s heart rate spikes into a painful pace.
Gaiabug is awake.
His eyes drop compulsively to the jungle below. Fear lurches through him as he watches Gaiabug move through the trees, knowing it must be her even though the canopy conceals her from sight; she disturbs entire patches of trees as she moves, making her trajectory traceable like a snake slithering beneath sand.
“I think they’ve engaged her, now,” says Uncanny.
Adrien feels off balance. He turns away from the jungle to look up at her, needing to blink a few times before her words truly register.
Eagle’s voice comes in over their coms before he can find his voice.
‘Mama bird has left the nest, ‘Canny. Better shake a tail feather before she catches up with Rena’s illusion.’
“Copy that,” Uncanny replies, and instantly begins to descend towards the canopy.
Using her third eye, she cuts a clean opening in the canopy for them to pass through and they sink into the alien, underside world that Paris has become. More unsettling still is the knowledge that every tree they pass, used to be a Parisian.
Adrien forcibly averts his thoughts from that path of thinking, and takes a steadying breath.
They’ve reached the ground now. Adrien’s feet crunch pebbled soil as Uncanny deposits him gently on the earth, all while his eyes track over the tangled landscape. The mangled, shadowed shapes of the twined tree trunks surrounding them, the seemingly undulating awnings above, the jungle floor, unnaturally clear of debris. Small seedlings - sprouted close to the large, interspersed tree trunks - are the only thing Adrien can see cluttering the floor besides the moss covered lianas, meandering lazily up from the earth.
The trees in this area of the jungle don’t have their roots exposed like the ones Gaiabug had puppeteered in that memory Bunnyx showed him, and he assumes this is because they’re pretty far from her nest - the giant banyan tree. Most likely, the trees, and their roots, become more sentient the closer to the nest that they are.
The jungle hangs in a hush so pristine that Adrien can hear the whirring of Uncanny’s elegant inner workings.
They’re alone.
His eyes pass slowly over each tree as he walks.
“You can tell which one used to be Shadowmoth?”
Uncanny nods, her gaze already tracking slowly around them. Her eyes come to land on a twisting tree to her left, and she blinks. Then points.
“That one,” she says, “I’m sensing three foreign anomalies present in that trunk.”
Adrien’s eyebrows crease. “What’s the third one? He’s only supposed to have the Butterfly and Peacock miraculous’.”
Uncanny shrugs, “I can’t tell that much… Maybe he had a third miraculous in secret?”
“Or maybe it’s a recent addition.” Adrien’s eyes narrow on the tree Uncanny had pointed out. “And you can cut them out without damaging them?”
“Affirmative,” Uncanny says, “But we’ll have to do some work… Just give me a moment.” She walks up to the trunk in question and holds a hand against the bark, expression concentrated as she feels around - leaving mental markers, perhaps - before stepping back and unleashing the laser of her third-eye.
It slices the trunk in half, leaving a stump a foot taller than Uncanny as the topside crashes to the floor beside them. The echoing boom of its weight hitting the floor makes Adrien’s shoulders hunch up on a wince.
Hopefully, Gaiabug hadn’t heard that.
The next lazer trims a neat block off the top, and Uncanny catches it as it flies into the air above her. It’s about the size of a soccer ball. She sets it softly on the floor and tells Adrien to, “Stand back,” before using her lazer with more precision and care to carve out three small, wooden nuggets.
Then she plucks the clumps up and tosses one over to Adrien, producing and offering a small carving knife in addition.
“We’ll have to carve them out the rest of the way by hand, otherwise we run the risk of my lazer accidentally damaging them.”
Adrien takes the knife and sets diligently to the task. He starts on the edges, carving like you’d shave off the crust of an apple. He’s intensely aware of the time restraint they have, and that the distraction the other’s are posing for Gaiabug might begin to fail at any moment, but tries to force himself to remain calm and focused.
“Aha!” says Uncanny from beside him, already holding up an unearthed miraculous. “Is this the right one?”
Her excited expression slumps back into scrunched concentration when Adrien shakes his head no.
“We’re looking for the butterfly miraculous. That’s the peacock.” And while good to have - good that they’ve recovered it - it won’t help them deakumatize Marinette.
Another shave, and Adrien catches a glimpse of silver. Another shave. Another. And then the wood in the center starts to crumble, cracking open to reveal -
Adrien’s breath strangles off in his throat.
It isn’t a miraculous.
It’s his father’s wedding ring.
Adrien’s entire vision pulses black as he’s plunged into disorientation. Confusion and denial barrel the air from his lungs. A muffled ringing hums in his ear as everything tunnels to the single loop of silver in the center of his palm. Very faintly he recognizes someone is saying his name - shaking his shoulder - but he doesn’t have control of his body anymore. He’s watching himself from a distance, falling away from himself as he sinks down, down, down.
His dad is - oh god - his dad is -
“Adrien!”
Adrien lurches back into himself and snaps his eyes up to meet Uncanny’s. She’s kneeling in front of him, the first hints of emotion finally leaking onto her face - furrowed eyebrows, frantic eyes that calm only when they finally lock with Adrien’s.
“Oh, thank god,” she says in a rush, “I thought you’d been hurt or something. What’s wrong?”
Adrien’s hand unfurls in his lap, and Uncanny’s eyes snap down to take in the ring.
“This was - this was the third anomaly,” Adrien says, his own voice sounding far away and numb, “It’s my father’s wedding ring.”
A horrible look of realization washes over Uncanny’s face at those words, and seeing it only serves to kick-start the panic inside him into full gear.
Adrien says, truly realizing it for the first time, “My dad is Shadowmoth.”
And then he stops breathing.
Time, inside a panic attack, can be a funny thing. Untraceable, slippery. And he loses his grip on it entirely. His vision blurs to flashes of color and shadow, ebbing in and out of clarity. The words play over and over in his mind as if in an echo chamber.
His dad is Shadowmoth.
His dad is Shadowmoth.
Adrien thinks he might be sick. He screws his eyes shut and hones his focus on trying to calm down; It’s a battle just trying to work air down his throat and into his lungs.
Between a painful inhale and the next, Eagle is landing with a thud on the jungle floor in front of him.
His eyes track up to her face, dumbfounded as to how she got her so quickly - how much time has he lost? - but Eagle is looking at Uncanny.
“What happened?!”
He hears her like a howling on a distant wave, lost at sea.
But that isn’t right. He is the one the tides are pulling farther, and farther from solid ground.
Uncanny says something that Adrien doesn’t hear, her and Eagle exchanging a few more words before time turns all watery and diluted in his brain once more, and the next thing he knows Eagle is kneeling down in front of him, determination burning in her eyes.
Voice solemn, she says, “I’m so sorry, Adrien. I wish there was a way that you could process all of this in your own time, but time is the one thing we don’t have to spare. Hopefully you won’t hold it against me, using it without your permission.”
Adrien can only blink at her blearily, vision blurring, lungs burning.
She lifts her hand, palm pointing towards him, and enunciates loud and clear, “Liberation.”

Marinette’s worse day or Adrien’s Birthday.
Marinette was in luck! No school, no “friends” just her. Marinette rolls over to head back to sleep.
“Marinette!” A squeaky voice called out. Marinette opens one of her eyes just barely to see Tikki in her face. “You need to get up! Today’s Adrien’s birthday remember.” Marinette forces her body up. She reaches for her phone.
1 new notification! From Alya.
Marinette thinks for a moment. Sighing Marinette opens her phone.
“Hey girl! I know you and Lila have some love rivalness for Adrien but it his BIRTHDAY! Take your shot! X3. Love ya!”
“Love rivalness?” Marinette would laugh if she didn’t want to cry. Throwing her self back on the bed she coughs. Marinette learned awhile ago to not cry in front of Tikki.
“What are you giving Adrien?” Speaking of Tikki.
“I don’t know.” Marinette gets up. She thinks back to when she would be so crazy about today. But she’s numb. Sighing this must be what its like to fall out of love. She walks down to computer. Her room feels empty. Bare walls from when she tore all of Adrien’s photos down in a bad panic attack.
“What do you mean you don’t know?! You should be so happy! What about all those gifts you had made for him?” Right the gifts that caused Chris to lose it and be akumatized. Marinette hadn’t told Tikki that those gift were all thrown out to.
“There gone. I got rid of them. They were creepy.” Marinette tuned out Tikki. She looks at her half made gifts. Sitting in the middle was a unfinished white and blue scarf. It was almost October. Grabbing it Marinette decided that she would finish it and give it to Adrien.
The next few minutes Marinette gathers the materials. It takes her almost two hours to finish. A quiet voice says ‘Should have only taken 30 minutes. Slacker.’ Marinette grabs to scarf half tempted to throw it out and starts again. As soon as the thought enters her head all of Marinette’s energy is drained.
“Oh Marinette it looks beautiful!”
“Thank you Tikki.” Marinette goes to find a box or bag to put it in. She finds a small black box with a green ribbon tied to it. The contrast should look nice. Wrapping up the scarf. Marinette checks her phone again.
3 new notification! One from Ayla. Two from Nino.
Shit. Marinette didn’t take her phone off of silence. Marinette opened Alya’s first.
“Girl where are you!” At home? Where else would she be.
Opening Nino’s next, “Mari, where are you?” “Marinette. Please tell me that you know about Adrien’s birthday party?!”
Marinette could feel Nino’s desperation. Marinette typed no and deleted it over a dozen times. Tears filling her eyes. Marinette sends a simple no she didn’t. Closing her eyes she sighed.
“Tikki spots on.” Before Tikki could say anything Marinette transforms.
Ladybug crawls out of Marinette’s room onto her roof. The plan was simple drop the gift off and head back home to sleep this day away.
The trip was short. Ladybug sits on one of the roofs near the Agreste Mansion. Ladybug could see the class through the window. Everyone looks so happy. Well expect Nino, he pacing in a different room on his phone. Ladybug can only assume that he’s trying to call Marinette. She looked around. Ladybug could see that the gifts are in Adrien’s room. She swings over.
Ladybug hops in. She thinks about detransforming. But Marinette wasn’t suppose to be here. She wasn’t suppose to be here. Ladybug walks over to the stacks of gifts. She puts her near the bottom. Ladybug hears footsteps and panics. She runs and hides in a closet.
“Stupid fucking Adrien.” A voice walks in. “Oh look at me. I live in a mansion with my dad and have all the friends I could ever WANT.” *CRASH* Ladybug flinches. Whoever this was is angry. Ladybug was to be out of here. “What do I have! Nothing! He COULDN’T even bother to show up to my dad’s funeral! His mom died when we were six. MY DAD DIED 3 MONTHS AGO.” *SLAMS* The voice is gone.
Ladybug doesn’t hesitate to get out of there. Running to the window she jumps. Swinging away.
Ladybug sits at the Eiffel tower. Who was that? Why were they so angry at Adrien. Why didn’t Adrien go to this person’s dads funeral?
A portal opens under Ladybug.
“Hello Ladybug.” A unknown voice says. “I hope I wasn’t interrupting anything.”
Ladybug turns to the voice ready to fight. Standing in front of her was a women? Her body seems to stay out of focus.
“No need to fight. We haven’t met yet… We will soon tho. You can call me the Hare. I am the bunny Miraculous user.”
“What happened to BunnyX!” The woman seems to float around the darken void.
“I’m not sure how BunnyX described time to you. But the future is not set in stone and neither was she. In one timeline BunnyX will exist. This is not that time.” The wom- The Hare taps her umbrella on the ground and the void seems to come to life. The room is white and vines grows up. Each branch goes to a different glowing hole.
“Woah.” Ladybug was amazed.
“This is my Burrow,” Hare spins with her arm out. “Each of these portals lead to a different future. Which is why I brought you here.” Hare stops.
“Is something wrong with the future!” Ladybug panics.
The Hare lets out a hardy laugh, “No not our future. Our future is still growing fast,” The hare gesture to the main root that is growing out of the dead center. “No this is a future that has already pasted. On that came and went during BunnyX time.” Hare walks over to Ladybug and taps the ground sending The both of them up. The ground comes to a slamming halt. Ladybug’s stomach entered her throat.
“Ladybug look.” The Hare hand touches the portal. The portal was dark. Ladybug felt dread creep into her body. A paralyzing fear. She grabs one of Hare’s arm for support. Hare taps the ground twice to move them away from the portal. “I’m sorry. I forgot how being near a dead portal feels.”
“Dead- Dead portal.”
“A portal where you other self is gone. The only living person in this future is Chat Noir… Or as he now goes by Chat Blanc. Can I tell you this future’s story?” Ladybug could only give a sad nod.
“I can’t tell you everything as that would reveal Chat, and HawkMoth’s identities to you. You and Chat did end up dating. It was going well you two are happy… Both in and out of civilian form. Yes, when you two started dating you revealed your identities to each other. But the world decided that neither of you should be happy. People drove you two apart, each of you were hurt. But still you tried to make it work. You two found HawkMoth and when fighting him, things happened and Chat was put into intense emotional distress. HawkMoth thought he could take advantage of it. Akumatizing Chat. But Chat didn’t want to hurt anyone, and end up destroying the moon. Somehow stopping the earth’s rotation and flooding Paris… Flooding the whole world. Killing everyone, but him. He’s been alone ever since.”
Ladybug was sobbing. Her chest hurts, her head hurts, everything hurts. Ladybug crumbles onto the floor. Hare just holds her.
“I ask you to help me put him at rest. It has been several years for him.”
“Will it bring everyone back?!”
“The Ladybug miraculous alone can not bring the dead back. I’m sorry.” Ladybug can only sob harder.
“I’ll help you. I’ll help Chat!” Ladybug looks Hare in the eyes.
“Understood. Let a few things be known. Chat’s mental health has deteriorated. Try to not get into a fight with him, he will win. I can not bring you back if you… pass” Ladybug understood. No fighting, no dying.
“Anything else?”
“He will know you name. Please don’t let that distract you.” Ladybug nodded. Hare made the floor move back to the portal. Holding her umbrella to the portal, drawing a circle, the portal opens wide. “Good luck Ladybug.”
When Ladybug walks through the portal, she’s freezing eminently. Looking around she seems to be on top of the Eiffel Tower, right where Hare had taken her from. Ladybug can see her breath. Walking to the edge, she only sees inky black water staring back at her. Using the tower as a ruler Ladybug can figure out that at least 3/4 of the tower is in water. About 850 ft above sea level.
“Oh kitty.” Ladybug whispers. Ladybug can see cars frozen to the top of the water. “I wish I had the ice or water power up on me.” Ladybug jumps down to one of the ice sheets.
Pulling out her Yo-Yo, maybe she can pick up Chat’s signal.
Searching… Searching… Searching… BEEP!
Location found. Agreste Mansion, 738 ft in the air.
Agreste Mansion? Why would Chat be there? Ladybug puts the Yo-yo away and begins her slow trip to the mansion. Walking and jumping from ice sheet to abandoned car. *CRASH*
“Ow…” Ladybug lays on her back. Her whole body aches. Pulling her self up. “My god.” Her legs are semi frozen. “Hare! Can you hear me! Whats happening!”
A voice seems to enter her head. “I’m not sure. Please hurry up, I think that you other self and you are trying to fuse.” Before Ladybug can ask anything else the voice is gone again. Fuse? She was dead here… Dear god she going to die!
Ladybug tries to stand up, it takes a minute but she manages. Slamming her legs on the ground, she able to get some of the ice off. She breaks into a sprint. No time for sight seeing!
Coming up to the mansion Ladybug can see a whole glacier where the mansion should be. Swallowing hard, Ladybug jumps onto the glacier.
“Huh?” The ice isn’t cold? Ladybug feels a warmth take over her body. The contrast is startling. Ladybug starts the climb to the top.
“But when I awoke, dear, I was mistaken…”
A song? Ladybug could faintly hear a voice singing. That has to be Chat.
“I’ll always love you and make you happy…”
Ladybug climbs faster. The closer to the top she gets a pain seems to grow in her heart.
“You told me once, dear, you really loved me. And no one else could come between…”
She was trying, trying so hard to not start crying. The pain was unbearable. Chat what has happened to you.
“In all my dreams, dear, you seem to leave me. When I awake my poor heart pains. So when you come back and make me happy. I'll forgive you dear, I'll take all the blame” Reaching the top, Ladybug can see a man. He sitting looking at the broken moon. When Ladybug takes a step forward the ice cracks.
“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away” The man is standing looking directly at Ladybug. Chat is older, his hair is wild and almost white? His suit instead of the iconic black and green is white and blue. But what makes Ladybug feel sick is… He’s covered in scars.
“My love! Have you come to see me again?” Chat voice is deeper and scratchy. His eye is wide but unfocused. “Love why do you look different?”
“Kitty…” Ladybug lets slip.
“Kitty? No. No. NOnononononononono! I’M YOUR PRINCE! REMEMBER!” He grabs at his hair. Hands starting to glow blue. Ladybug has just a moment to react before a blue explosion is thrown at her.
“Chat! PLEASE I’M REAL!” Ladybug yells as she lands.
“REAL! NOTHING IS REAL! YOU’RE JUST HERE TO MOCK ME!” Another explosion. Ladybug is just running around him. No wonder Hare told her not to fight him. ‘Think Ladybug, THINK!’
A loud explosion caught Ladybug off guard. The ice under started to splinter. Ladybug can’t get traction, her feet keeps slipping. Panicking she grabs her Yo-Yo, she throws it at Chat hoping to grab him. Then she falls.
Chat stops moving. The world goes still. Slowly Chat grabs the Yo-Yo. His eyes follows the string, across the ice, and over the edge. He rushes towards the edge.
“You’re… you’re real?” His voice is quiet, small. He almost sounds like a small child.
“Yes. Yes, I’m real Chat. I was brought here to help you. Please.” Ladybug was hanging of dear life. Chat begins pulling her up. Ladybug grabs his arm and pulls herself onto the flat ice. They both stand still for a moment.
Chat is towering over her. His hand cups her cheek. *THUD* Chat fall to his knees. He’s sobbing. “Alive, your alive… your alive, alive…”
“Chat where is the akuma?”
“-ell.” The answer was so quiet Ladybug couldn’t make it out. Her hand touches Chats shoulder. Looking up, Ladybug can see one of Chat’s eyes was scratched out. She pulls Chat into a hug. Letting her self cry with him.
After a few minutes she pulls away. She gently takes the bell from Chat’s chest. The bell is freezing in her hand.
“Chat could you please…”
“Of course, my lady.” Chat puts his hand over bell still in Ladybug’s hand, “cataclysm”
Instead of the bell normally dissolving, the bell froze over and shattered.
“Miraculous Ladybug.” Ladybug take to butterfly into her Yo-Yo and heal it. The wave of butterflies go out. Looking around… The world is still flooded, frozen, dead. Ladybug is grabbed from behind. Chat is holding her again.
“Please don’t leave me. I can’t be alone again.” Chat sobs, “Please Marinette. Please.”
Ladybug just puts her hand over Chat’s. “I’m sorry Chat. I’m not from this time. I can’t stay here. I…I won’t survive.” Chat grip tightens. He lets go, hands on Ladybug shoulder keeping her from turning. “Chat?”
“I don’t want you to see. I-I’m broken, ugly… I’m sorry… I love you.” His voice is soft and sad. In front of them a glowing portal appears.
“Ladybug it’s time.” Ladybug recognized the voice as Hare. A hand reaches out and touches Ladybug’s head.
Waking up Ladybug was on top of the Eiffel tower. Rubbing her eyes, she stretches. What happened? Last thing she remembers is dropping of Adrien’s gift and that person yelling.
“HELLO! My lady!”
Ladybug turns to see Chat landing on the tower. Her heart pains for a moment. “Hello Chat, what are you doing out and about?”
“Today is my birthday! Why wouldn’t I want to spend it with you?” Chat smiles.
“You should have told me yesterday, I could have gotten you something.” Ladybug stands up.
Chat seems to pause… “I’m not a big fan of my birthday, to be honest.” His voice is quiet. Ladybug just nods.
“Why don’t we go on patrol then?”
“Great idea! Lady’s first.” Chat half bows. Snorting, Ladybug takes a running start and jumps.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
“Huh? Chat your baton is beeping.”
AKUMA IN THE AREA! AKUMA IN THE AREA!
LOCATION AGRESTE MANSION.
Ladybug pulls out her Yo-Yo. Opening the akuma tracker. “My god, there’s almost half a dozen akumas! What happened!” Ladybug looks over at Chat in worry. Chat eyes seem wide.
“I have an idea. I passed by the Agreste Mansion and there seemed to be some kind of party being broken up. A lot of people seemed very angry.” Chat eyes are cast down.
“I passed by there earlier and everything seemed just fine.” Ladybug muttered. Chat didn’t respond. “Well HawkMoth been busy, lets get a move one!” Ladybug starts to head south towards Agreste Mansion.
Landing near the mansion, Chat and Ladybug can see that some of their classmates have been akumatized. Ladybug pulls out her Yo-Yo. Seems due to the shear number of akumas that they are much weaker then there solo counter parts.
“Luckily HawkMoth can’t empower over a few akumas to their fullest.” Ladybug smiles.
“Whats the plan?” Chat asks. Ladybug looks at the crowd. Currently all they can see are Lady Wifi, Reflekta, Evillustrator, Bubbler, and Princess Fragrance.
“Seems that there’s no huge akuma. We need to take out Lady Wifi and Evillustrator first. We might be able to use Bubbler to keep Princess at bay. Avoid Reflekta-” Ladybug is caught off buy a load explosion. Briefly Ladybug vision flickers to a flooded world. Blinking the world is back but a huge hole is where Adrien’s room used to be.
“Holy shit!” Chat yelps. “They have someone!”
“No plan grab the hostage!” Ladybug throws her Yo-Yo and throws her self towards the group of akuma.
Landing in the crowd, “I heard there was a party but this is a little to wild for me.” Chat joked.
“Leave Ladybug, we want this bastard!” Lady Wifi roars! Evillustrator has chains around this boy.
“I don’t know who he is but this is to much!” Ladybug throws her Yo-Yo at Evillustrator’s arm. Grabbing him and yanking. He face plants on the floor as Chat swings his baton at the feet of everyone. Sweeping them off their feet. Ladybug runs and grabs the boy, picking him up in a bridal carry. “Let’s go Chat.”
Ladybug and Chat runs to a more open area, “Who are you and what happened?” The boy doesn’t respond. Ladybug asks again this time in English. The boy eyes go wide.
“I can speak French just fine.” He responds with a click.
“Then answer.” Ladybug lands on the roof of Le Grand Paris.
“I’m Felix Graham de Vanily. Son of Amelie and Isaac Graham de Vanily.” Felix pushes Ladybug away. This voice… He’s the person Ladybug heard yelling. Getting a good look at Felix, he’s wearing dark clothes, and has bags under his eyes. He’s clearly still in mourning.
“Why are they after you Felix.” Chat asks… Is Chat glaring at Felix?
“How would I know! What even are those things!?” Felix pushes past Ladybug and Chat.
“You’re not from Paris are you. Those people are akumas. A villain named HawkMoth turns people in them. It seems that they think you did something.” Ladybug explains.
Felix stands stiff. He looks up towards the sky. Another vision flashes in Ladybug eyes. This time of a man alone looking towards the night sky.
Ladybug hearts sinks. As soon as it comes the world is back to normal. Ladybug walks over and puts her hand on Felix’s shoulder.
“You can trust us.”
“Today is my cousins birthday. I’m sure you’ve heard of him. Adrien Agreste. I-I… I hate him.” Felix croaks out. Ladybug could understand knowing what she knows.
“You-you hate him?” Chat speaks. Turning Ladybug can see his eyes. They look shocked.
“My dad just died!” Felix turns to face Chat and Ladybug, he almost crying. “ HE DIED 3 MONTHS AGO AND MY COUSIN COULDN’T BE BOTHERED TO SHOW UP! BUT NO I HAVE TO SHOW UP TO HIS STUPID BIRTHDAY PARTY!” Felix sobbed.
Ladybug and Chat were stunned silent. Felix cried into his arm. Ladybug went to touch him but stopped her self.
“What happened at that party Felix?”
“It was just suppose to be Adrien, his dad, me and my mom. But his dad had some work” He puts finger quotations around work,” So he left, my mom wasn’t feeling good. She gets migraines. So said she would head back to the hotel and rest and come back for dinner. It was just me and him. But then his stupid friends showed up. With gifts and food. My head started to hurt… I was so mad. I-I called his dad.” Felix admitted.
“That would do it.” Chat whispered. Before anything else could be said rockets shot at them. Blowing Felix and Ladybug off the building. Ladybug grabs Felix and lands hard.
She and Felix are surrounded by Reflekta and Princess Fragrance.
“Lucky Charm!” A hand mirror falls. With out a second notice Reflekta descend append them. Ladybug pushes Felix away, side sweeping Reflekta. Princess grabs Ladybug only for her to be body slammed to the floor by Felix. “Get out of here Felix!”
“No!” Ladybug can’t respond before Reflekta is back up. Reflekta hold her hand up to shoot a beam at Felix. Ladybug throws the mirror towards Felix, the beam bounces off the mirror and hits Princess Fragrance instead. Princess now stuck as another Reflekta can’t operate her fragrance gun.
Ladybug bum rushes Reflekta. Reflekta unable to block Ladybug attacks due to being distracted over Princess is quickly knocked out. Ladybug grabs Felix and shoots back up to the roof.
Throwing her Yo-Yo she hits Evillustrator in the back of the head. Chat is fighting Bubbler and Lady Wifi. Ladybug drops Felix off and runs towards Lady Wifi. Jumping over Lady Wifi, Ladybug raps her legs around her neck and send Lady Wifi flying forwards.
“How you been My Lady?” Chat asks avoiding one of Bubbler’s bubbles. Ladybug just grunts as she jumps on Bubbler’s back. She wraps one arm under Bubbler arm and the other around his neck. Bubbler began shooting he bubble gun wildly. Chat was about to kick Bubbler’s leg out when they heard a scream.
“Hey Bubble freak here I am!”
“Felix what are you doing!” Chat screams but in was to late Bubbler was able to shoot a bubble at Felix. Felix drops to the floor, making the bubble hit Lady Wifi instead.
Ladybug using the distraction to use her ladybug vision. Felix, Chat, Wifi phone.
“Felix! Chat! The akuma is in the phone!” Bubbler slams Ladybug into a wall. Felix grabs the phone and tosses it towards Chat. Bubbler shoots another bubble hitting Felix dead on. Chat almost misses the phone.
“Felix!”
“The phone you idiot!” Felix yells as he began to rise.
“Cataclysm!” Chat destroys the phone in his hand.
“Miraculous Ladybug!” Ladybugs spread out across the city. Nino was standing in front of Ladybug. Felix falls towards the ground as does Alya.
“Wha? Where are we?” Nino looks around.
“On top of Le Grand Paris.” Chat responds helping Felix up.
“YOU!” Alya yells. Chat puts himself in between Alya and Felix.
“ALYA! Stop!” Nino helps Ladybug off the ground.
“What he ruined Adrien’s party! Who does he think he is!”
“HE’S HIS FAMILY!” Chat yelled. “Felix is Adrien’s cousin. You all showed up announced to Adrien’s house, and you’re mad you got thrown out?!” Chat look pissed.
“Alya, Chat stop. Please understand that you can’t show up at someone’s house and just expect to be first priority. Felix, I feel as though I can’t reprimand you, but please talk to people when your hurting.” Ladybug says also putting her self between everyone.
“Chat can you help Felix back to the mansion.”
“Okay, later LB.”
“Juleka and Rose are a floor below. Please explain to them what happened. I need to leave.” Ladybug turns and jumps of the roof. She swings around Paris, till she feels safe enough to go home.
Marinette flops on her bed. Tikki starts to eat a cookie.
“Tikki?”
“Hm?”
“Who was in the right? Felix was grieving but everyone was acting entitled. My head hurts.” Marinette covers her eyes. ‘I’m sorry… I love you.’ Tears start to leak out.
“I don’t know Marinette. Sometimes both people can be wrong and both people can be in the right.” Tikki answers before going silent. What Marinette doesn’t know is that Tikki remembers. Tikki remembers the other timeline, and Hare.
Marinette showers and changes into new pajamas. Checking her phone one last time.
57 New Notifications! 40 Text messages from Nino. 16 calls missed from Nino. 1 Text message from Adrien.
Marinette opens the text from Adrien. A photo of him with the scarf, and a simple thank you.
Marinette gives a small smile. Closing her eyes Marinette drifts off to a dreamless sleep.

Summary: Bunnyx brings in a different opponent for Chat Blanc. Note: Contains Chat Blanc spoilers.
i.
Dozens of dead Ladybugs later, Bunnyx’s idea is simple.
Why not fight an akuma with an akuma?
Chat Blanc still cares, but he’s not above destroying his lady love, even if it’s always by accident. And Ladybug -- she always fails because she falters. Bunnyx knows she can find a Ladybug in some place and some time who’ll have the ability to put stopping Chat Blanc above feeling anything for Chat Noir. But right now there’s a timeline in front of her with a Ladybug that might be able to weaken Chat Blanc long enough for Bunnyx to find the right person to properly purify him.
Bunnyx steps in with the intention of staying for less than twenty seconds.
She watches the akuma garbed in black and spotted with red as she presses Chat Noir into the ground. There are no other heroes in sight. There’s no one who can save him. Not from an akumatized Ladybug.
Her knee digs into his back while she twists his arm behind him. He’s screaming because she pays no heed to how joints work, or perhaps because her fingers are on his ring. She probably would have succeeded had Bunnyx not run up behind her and swung her umbrella.
The akuma spring back, blocking the umbrella with her arm. The distraction is enough for Chat Noir to secure his ring, roll away, and get back on his feet.
He looks at Bunnyx, somehow finding the sight of her more confusing than his current situation.
“What are you doing here?”
Bunnyx opens the portal up behind the akuma and runs forward. Ladybug has always been confident, so this version of her is downright cocky. She widens her stance, ready to fight, but Bunnyx only needs to push her a foot backwards and soon they’re both falling into the desolate world that Chat Blanc created, that Chat Noir now worlds away.
They both fall from the momentum. The akuma kicks her away and Bunnyx makes no move to come closer. Instead, she opens up a new portal to escape.
The akuma frowns at her. “Where are you--”
Bunnyx doesn’t hear the rest, already escaping to find the right timeline with the right Ladybug.
-
ii.
Chat Blanc stares at the wasteland he created and sings a little tune.
He hates the silence. He misses Plagg yammering about cheese, Marinette discussing anything that might come to mind, the people of Paris screaming as he leaves them all petrified. Everything is boring and still and he doesn’t know what to do right now. He can go for a swim and try to find those other Ladybugs that Bunnyx sent after him, but he’s quite certain his cataclysms completely obliterated them, so searching would be pointless.
He sighs and restarts his song.
“Chat Noir?”
“My lady?” He turns, already rising to his feet before he sees her. “Oh, my lady, I’ve missed you so much--”
He stops when he realizes that this isn’t her. He sees Marinette’s eyes and lips just like his visitors always have, but the mask is wrong and the suit is wrong and the careless twirl of her yoyo is so, so wrong.
Chat Blanc jumps down and stalks towards her. She lifts her chin as one foot slides to the side, ready for a fight.
“Ladybug--”
“Ladybird.”
Chat Blanc blinks. “Huh?”
“Ladybird,” she repeats.
He circles her like a cat, like the solitary predator he’s become, before stopping at her side. He scans her form as he straightens.
“You’re like me,” he realizes.
An akuma.
He cocks his head to the side because of all the versions of his lady that he’s fought, never have they been like this. Ladybug -- Ladybird -- looks disinterested at best, and yet eager for battle. Unlike his lady, she doesn’t seem particularly interested in finding his cursed item.
He wonders if he can find hers.
Chat Blanc’s hands are on her ears in an instant. She grunts as she manages to kick him away and land on her feet.
“Give me your miraculous,” he orders.
Ladybug just smirks at him. “Why don’t you give me yours?”
-
iii.
Ladybird was borne from a girl who just wanted freedom.
She was a girl who just wanted Hawk Moth gone so she could start living again, who wanted the universe to give her a fucking break. But then that akuma started tapping into other things: her loneliness, her frustration with everyone for needing her, her resentment of Chat Noir for being able to breathe easy while she had to take on everything for everyone every single time.
In a world with no one but another akuma to keep her company, she thinks she can have the freedom to just not care.
She doesn’t have to save anyone. She doesn’t have to listen to Hawk Moth demand she uphold their deal and bring him the miraculous. She doesn’t have to carry the weight of the world, although that’s largely because apparently Chat Blanc pretty much destroyed it.
She can run, she can laugh, she can have fun again.
So she fights him. She throws punches and twists around him and proves she’ll always be the more agile one. Chat Blanc uses his endless streams of cataclysms to further destroy the city, while Ladybird calls for charm after charm and is pleased to find a bazooka, a grenade, and at one point, a katana.
Four hours later, she and Chat Blanc call a truce, both sprawled out on the same floating bus. There’s blood tripping from her nose and she wipes that away. He has a cut on his cheek, courtesy of her temporary blade, and it’s long since dripped all over his white leather.
She watches him, eager to continue playing, but Chat Blanc crosses his legs and stares back.
“Ladybird, Ladybird, fly away home--”
“But I like it here.”
He blinks. “What?”
Ladybird shuffles onto her hands and knees and crawls over to him. She stops in front of him, an eager grin on her face. “I don’t have to be a hero,” she says. “I don’t have to save anyone here.”
“Because I killed them all.”
“Because you killed them all.”
Chat Blanc looks down in one of his sporadic moments of guilt, but Ladybird cups his cheeks and presses her forehead against his. “We’re free here,” she whispers. “Don’t you see?”
He begins to cry, his tears falling over her thumbs. Ladybird slides into his lap and lets him hold her because somehow that helps him. He sobs for Marinette and then looks at her for a reaction.
His eyes flicker to her earrings. In return, she glances at his ring. Neither of them move, and after a tense moment, Ladybug presses a kiss against his jaw. After all, there’s no enemy here to use her liberties with her partner against her.
“I have you, kitty,” Ladybird promises. She smiles, and it’s only a fraction unhinged. “It’s just you and me.”

Translation :
Dear diary, Luka told me he was composing a song specially for me. Can you believe it? You know, Luka, he’s my friend Juleka’s brother and one of the most talented boys I know. He’s the guitarist in the Kitty Section band. He truly has an incredible gift for music.
*Luka plays a tune* Marinette : How do you do? That’s crazy.
He has shown himself to be quite skilled when -- as Ladybug -- I lend him the Snake Miraculous.
Viperion : Second Chance!
But the most impressive about him is the way he can always figure what others feel.
Luka : You feel a bit like this, don’t you?
In fact, he quickly understood I have feelings for Adrien.
Luka : Shall we take the subway together, Marinette? *sees how Marinette looked at Adrien* I think you have something to tell him.
Of course, I’m less good than him, but... I still end up discovering Luka loves me more than just a friend.
Luka : You are an incredible girl, Marinette. Clear like a music note. Sincere as a melody. You are the song I hear in my head ever since we first met. *leaves*
Marinette : It was a love declaration, right Tikki?
Tikki : Yes, and one of the most beautiful I have heard in all my life.
And even if it is incredible he is writting me a song, I can’t help but think about Adrien as well. Argh! I’m lost! My feelings get mixed up! I will probably encounter Luka this week, so maybe he will sing me his song? We’ll see. I’ll tell you, dear diary.
=====
P.S. The reason why Mari doesn’t talk much about Luka as Viperion is because the subject was also briefly brought in another video (about Pegase, Viperion, Ryuuko and Bunnyx)

White Knight AU-A rewrite
Alright so Chat Blanc aired and I said that no matter what happens I'm keeping this AU.I still stand to this but I'm changing the origin of this AU because I say so!No but really I loved this episode and my brain really wants to rewrite the origin of this AU to fit the canon at least a little bit.
Also rules of timetravel and timelines?Never heard of her.
Everyone freaks out (People's reaction tp Chat Blanc)
• Things go like in canon up to the point where Ladybug is in Blanc's timeline
• Chat Blanc still sings his song
• Ladybug calls out to him
• When he notices her he immediantly walks up to her
• Instead of trying to grab her Miraculous he cups her face and asks if it's really her.
Poor boy hasn't seen her for god knows how long.He just wants to be sure.
• Ladybug tells him it's really her
• Ladybug freaks out when she hears him say "My Marinette"
• Chat Blanc asks if she can detransform just so he can be sure this is real. He's really close to crying at this point
• She agrees and detransforms.Tikki is silent and Blanc just breaks down crying.
• He's just really happy
• Meanwhile Bunnyx is watching and is completly lost and freaking out.
That wasn't how things we're supposed to go
• For a while Marinette is just holding her Kitty while he cries
• When he calms down he promises to never let her get hurt again. This is when his protectiveness kicks in
• Marinette asks him to give her his akumatized item to which he just says he doesn't want to give up the akuma. He just wants to be by her side and keep her safe.
• Marinette now has to think and ultimatly decides that Blanc can come with her to her present
• Chat Blanc beams and happily agrees
• Bunnyx jumps in and asks Marinette what she's thinking
"Minibug that's an akuma!"
"I know.Your point is?"
• Bunnyx gives up and just let's her keep Chat Blanc but Marinette has to transform and has to erase her name from the gift for Adrien
• Marinette agrees and does exactly that
• Since we are ignoring the rules of timetravel the Chat Blanc timeline still exists but litreally noone is alive. It's just the destroyed moon and the flooded earth. Also Bunnyx isn't in danger of disappearing and the other timelines are fine too.
Why am I doing this you may wonder?Well it's easy, because I want to.
• So then Marinette tells Blanc to already go and wait on a rooftop while she gets rid of her name on the gift for Adrien
• That's when Chat Blanc noticed that this Marinette and Adrien don't know eachother's identity or who Hawkmoth is
• Blanc decides to stay quiet for now untill they're ready.
It's not the time to put the noodles into the water just yet.
• Ladybug still tells Adrien her lie
• She then joins Blanc and the first thing they do is go to Master Fu
• Fu talks to Chat Blanc alone about the timeline he originaly came from
• Chat Blanc doesn't tell him who Hawkmoth is.They both agree to wait untill the time is right
• After that comes the confrontation with Marinette's parents
(If you want to know what exactly happend you should read the 'Everyone freaks out' addition of this AU)
• Now cut to Marinette trying to manage her life with this overprotective white cat in it
(The following points might be familiar to you if you know the first post about this AU but there should be new ones too. Also these are just some aspects of the AU and aren't part of it's origins.Just normal parts.)
• Chat Blanc sleeps on Marinette's chaise or on her balcony
• He has a really hard time with his emotions.
He can control them but's difficult.
• Like when Chat Blanc is sad he can go from just looking sad to an full on breakdown within a few seconds.
When he's angry he can go from normal anger to really wanting to cataclysm something or someone. And it's like that with all his emotions
• Blanc often talks about how happy he and Marinette used to be
• He's a cuddler.Chat Blanc shows a lot physical affection since he's constantly afraid of losing Marinette again
• Whenever he waits for Marinette's classes to be over he sits on the edge of the school's roof at watches the courtyard while singing his song
• He sometimes also wait in front of her classes and starts singing.
Whenever he does that and the class is silently working they can hear Chat Blanc singing outside the room.
Noone dares to ask either him or Marinette about it.All they know is that Marinette has this sad smile when she hears him.
• Chat Blanc often stays awake during the night and just sits on the balcony to make sure that his princess is safe.Should he see an akuma Blanc wakes Marinette and Tikki up.
• He always follows Ladybug to where the battles are just in case something happens so he can take the hit.
It's in his nature to protect her.
• He still tags along for patrol and gets a lot of cuddles
• Chat Noir is definitely jelous that this version of him gets cuddles and not him.
• Ladybug takes pity on him and he gets ear scratches
• Chat Blanc loves watching Marinette when she's lost im her own little world when she designs or bakes
• Chat Blanc always eats dinner with Tom,Sabine and Marinette
• Whenever Marinette wants to pull allnighters Blanc forces her to go to bed
"Just this one project kitty!"
"Princess no-"
"Princess yes."
"No go to sLEEP-"
• Chat Blanc hates Lila's guts with every fiber of his being and he's not afraid of showing it.
Lila starts lying about knowing a celebrity?Blanc keeps asking and points the holes in her lies out.
Lila lies about an injury?Blanc will personally get a doctor to take a look at it.
Lila gets to close to his princess? He's not afraid to immediantly hiss at her untill she's gone.
• Chat Blanc may or may not have threatend to murder Lila in cold blood and cataclysm all of her remains after the events 'Ladybug'
Don't tell Marinette.
• Chat Blanc and Mari's parents get along really well
• Tom still plays matchmaker.
Marinette.exe stopped responding yet again
• Tikki was at first wary of Chat Blanc but once she sees how much he still cares about and loves Marinette she warms up to the situation
• Also she gets cookies from him
• After the events of 'Ladybug' Chat Blanc cuddles Marinette as often and long he can for the rest of the day.
He was just so afraid he lost her.
• Marinette assures him that she'll never leave him again and Blanc cries.
• Chat Blanc bakes with Tom since that is a condition for him staying there.
It was obviously Tom's idea.
• Blanc sometimes bakes cookies for Tikki
That's it for now folks!I think the next addition for this AU will be rewrites of Ladybug,Loveater and Miracle Queen! (and Felix once it aired lol)
#miraculous ladybug#ml spoliers#chat blanc spoilers#told you I'd rewrite it#also i like this version a lot more#white knight au

Thoughts on Chat Blanc
Warning: Spoilers! That's all. Press Keep Reading to continue.
I honestly don’t know what happened with the original post. Well, I am copying and pasting from my last one.
I watched the French Version with English subtitles. But I don't speak French. I then watched it in the English Dub.
Gabriel's monologue to Emeline. Still can't believe all the trouble that he's going through to revive her.
The girls believing that today would be the day that Marinette tells Adrien how she feels to the point Alix bets on her rollerblades that she won't and Rose bets on her unicorn plushie that she will.
Everyone groaning that Marinette returned with the gift in hand was a mood. We are all too used to this fam.
But...I relate with Marinette overthinking the situation. Telling someone you love them is super hard because you fear their reaction. You fear that things will be awkward from now on. You just fear what will happen. I'm not crying you are.
Also, Adrien has a 5th name?????? What????
But what's even more interesting is Rose's ultimatum to Marinette: tell Adrien or we won't hang out with you anymore until you do. She obviously has had enough of Marinette's stalling. It definitely was not because she lost Princess Twinklepeach (her unicorn) to Alix. Slamming the picnic basket on Marinette's hand was very shocking. Like all of this is shocking. We've never seen Rose so fed up by the drama. Princess Fragrance who? This is the first time we've seen her this angry. I for some reason love it. Also, the other girls were also like "what the hell Rose???"
Everyone then chants for her, elevating self confidence. In the French Version, they chant “Marinette!”. In the English dub, its “Go!”. All rise!
She almost does it. Today was the day! She was not going to take no for an answer. But...
...Nathalie says "no". What the hell Nathalie??? And she will not tell her when Adrien comes back. I swear the universe is against Adrienette peoples.
Tikki suggests giving the gift to Adrien at school the next day, but after Rose's speech/ultimatum, Marinette is determined to get it to him today. This will be a problem later on.
Tikki sensed that Marinette would use her powers as Ladybug to give him the gift. And Marinette was overconfident that no one will notice. Oh boy...
Adrien looking at Marinette with this soft expression. He loves her for her and you can't tell me otherwise!
The whole fangirling over being in Adrien's room was the main reason why the chain of events happened, but who are we to blame. If we were in Marinette's shoes, we would most likely do the same, so let's not be too salty.
Nathalie, he was like 30 minutes late for reasons such as the award ceremony taking forever and giving Kagami a ride. Not everything has to be stuck on a rigid schedule. He's a teen. Cut him some slack.
The card was not signed, so she signed it last minute and left as soon as Adrien entered the room. Oh boy...
And Adrien once again connects the dots that Ladybug and Marinette are the same person. And also figured out that the boy Ladybug likes is himself. Adrien haters can go home. Our boy is smart. End of story.
Plagg trying to disconnect the dots and protesting the thought that Ladybug and Marinette are the same person is somewhat hilarious but understandable and relatable. We want the Love Square, but when we try to disconnecting the dots in some cases, we would do what he's doing.
What annoys me is that he knows unintentionally, but does not have to tell her he's Chat Noir. I get it, but honesty is very important.
Ladybug encounters Bunnyx, who comes to her all like "something major happened in the future that's disastrous". Its time.
As Bunnyx plays the timeline like VHS, Ladybug gets the curiosity of the Burrow. To be honest, it looks radical dude! And Ladybug, no matter how powerful she is, is still a curious teenager at heart. I like that we get to see this.
At this point, Bunnyx puts the bowl on her head to prevent her from seeing more of the timelines under the pretext of would she want to see what she gets for her next birthday.
And Bunnyx shows her the dystopian reality of Chat Blanc. All she has to do is capture the Akuma and restore order.
Boy Paris has been obliterated, as well as the moon. Oh wow.
Meanwhile, Bunnyx would be observing the events and do the best she can to prevent this from happening.
Chat singing to himself is adorable, but also bittersweet considering the circumstances. Ladybug recognizes him and he recognizes her.
She definitely is worried and he is definitely glad to see her, especially because she has the Ladybug Miraculous.
He apologizes for being rude and grabbing her earrings, but also ends up asking politely and saying that he ran into some problems.
She explains that he's akumatized and would need to be de-evilized. Then...
The most heartbreaking moment happens: Chat asks to be saved as a tear falls from his face, which Ladybug wipes away. But...
As she looks for his akuma, he starts attacking her again. Whyyyyy???
I am getting the feeling that based on his mood changes, he's conflicted on what he wants and the thoughts of wanting to be freed and wanting to fix everything are causing an inner turmoil and creating a double personality or something like that. I don't know how to word it.
As Chat Blanc goes after Ladybug, he calls her Marinette, which shocks her because how would Chat know if she never told her? Which prompts Bunnyx to do an investigation of the timeline.
Apparently, the timeline where Marinette used her Ladybug powers to give him the gift was NOT the timeline she remembered, since Future Alix had the unicorn, which she was forced to turn over on the alternative timeline.
And now we take a break for the following: Why Alix? Why did you lose hope on Marinette telling Adrien that she loves him?????? Yes, we've seen it fail every time, but we still believe (well, most of us).
Quick question: Why was Marinette's hair down when she gets to her friends? What happened to her hair ties??? Was this a stylistic choice? WE NEED ANSWERS!!!
I confirmed in the English Dub that Marinette told her friends that she was very convincing.
Also, the way the girls shoved Marinette in front of Adrien. Very subtle.
And the moment that we've all been waiting for: Adrien's confession. He says that he realized that she meant more to him and now he understands why.
Now before you all get salty, hear me out. If you still believe that Adrien would only love Marinette because she's Ladybug, then you obviously have not taken the time to listen to the masterpiece called "Ce mur qui nous sépare" (The Wall that Separates Us) and have not read the translated lyrics if you don't speak or understand French. My point? In one of Lenni-Kim's Verses before the duet portion, he sings that he feels unfaithful to Ladybug when he thinks of her and his heart is in a duel. By "he", I mean Adrien (this is the Love Square song after all) and by "her", I mean Marinette. Adrien loves both Marinette and Ladybug, but he believed that they were two different people. Now that he knows they are the same person, it eases his mind. And if you don't believe me, rewatch Origins when Chat fell in love with Ladybug even though she messed up and look at the soft expressions that Adrien makes at Marinette through the series. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk, I don't take criticism very well.
"Does this mean you like the beret?" Really Marinette??? He's confessing his love for you and you assume this is about the beret. To be honest, full mood because it feels like a dream.
Here it is folks: Adrien told Marinette he loves her. I repeat: ADRIEN TOLD MARINETTE THAT HE LOVES HER!!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! (Well, it kind of is, but let me have this).
And then, ADRIENETTE KISS!!! I am the girls on this when it comes to me wanting to squeal in joy.
But somehow this is really bad to Bunnyx. Also we see super Cataclysm (which is called Mega Cataclysm in the English dub). Hmm...
But let's enjoy the Love Square for now. Adrienette hug and Chloé being infuriated. Serves you right Chloé Bourgeois.
Adrienette dance during a hangout with friends. And Luka being chill as always.
Adrienette eating André's ice cream together. Aww!
Adrienette making onto the news, where Marinette broke everyone's hearts by being with Adrien. And they attended an event together. All is right in the world as our two children are happy with each other.
Then Chat explains how everything was great until Hawkmoth found out about it all, stating that their love caused the catastrophe. Well, isn't that a little foreshadowing?
How did it happen? Well, Gabriel decided to be trash, had Nathalie go to the Dupain-Cheng bakery with him via tablet, and demands Marinette to stop seeing Adrien because she hurts the brand?????? Anyone care to storm the Agreste mansion to beat him up?? Gabriel, you do not go around and demand people to stop being happy. What the hell is wrong with you???
She did not do anything wrong and thank you Tom Dupain for being the best father in the world by defending Adrienette. He legit says Adrienette right peoples!!!
And Gabriel decides to be even more trashy by threatening to withdraw Adrien from school. DUDE- I MEAN SIR, I WILL COME TO PARIS MYSELF AND PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE FOR BREAKING THE HAPPINESS OF MY SWEET CHILDREN!
Marinette is willing to sacrifice her happiness for Adrien's freedom. Gabriel is the worst father known to the universe in any dimension! Adrien does not deserve any punishment you dole out at him, Marinette didn't do anything wrong, and you deserve to rot in hell and be thrown out of the bakery by Tom.
Tom's French voice sounds really gruff when angry. Just saying.
Gabriel is trash for making Marinette break up with Adrien. It was so hard for her to do so that she ran off. It even broke Adrien as he cried and begged Gorilla to let him go after her.
Plan? What plan Nathalie?????
Hawkmoth? Marinette being his ultimate masterpiece???? What the freaking hell is going on peoples?????? He did all that just so she can akumatize her???? ROT IN HELL GABRIEL AGRESTE!
Adrien sees the Akuma head towards Marinette and then TRANSFORMS INTO CHAT NOIR OUT IN THE OPEN TO SAVE HER. THIS IS TRUE LOVE PEOPLES AND YOU CAN'T CHANGE MY MIND!
He Cataclysms the akuma and calls her M'lady. At first she's shocked, but we get the MARICHAT HUG PEOPLES!!!
But, Nathalie sees and tells Gabriel that Adrien is Chat Noir. She looks like she is in shock and thought she would talk some sense into him. Boy was she wrong.
But what's even more disturbing: Hawkmoth/Gabriel feels no remorse about his actions. Not surprising, but still shocking. Any sympathy has dissipated for good. He uses the fact that his son is Chat Noir only so he can abuse him more. He's a monster, end of story.
Chat knows about the merging for a wish fact. He wishes to fix everything that happened so he can live happily with Marinette and even mentions the hamster. By the way, what is the hamster's name??? I WANNA KNOW!
After Ladybug attacks again to get the akuma, Chat Blanc states she doesn't listen. And she falls into the waterworld that the moon's destruction caused. The visuals of this waterworld are beautiful though.
Hawkmoth: the ever selfish piece of trash holds a defense stance, Ladybug holds a stance in which she reaches out to something. This is important later on.
The final battle with Hawkmoth leads them to Emeline's grave, in which Hawkmoth lets Adrien know that he knows his identity. And Hawkmoth decides to traumatize his dear son by showing him his mother's dead body an lets on that he is Gabriel. What the hell?????
Him asking why is just so heartbreaking. The betrayed feeling is too much. Too much that he ALMOST CATACLYSMS HIS OWN FATHER. But there's more to come.
GABRIEL! YOU DO NOT WACK YOUR SON AS IF HE WERE A BASEBALL! PEOPLES, WE NEED TO ADOPT ADRIEN RIGHT NOW!!!!
Gabriel uses manipulation to lure Adrien to help him. Saying that they will revive Emeline and that Ladybug does not love him if she refuses to give up her Miraculous. Ladybug tries to warn him of the dangers of making the ultimate wish.
Poor Chat. He's under too much pressure as his mind is at war between the greater good of Paris and his mother being revived. And that trash of Hawkmoth decides to akumatize him in the moment of his breakdown.
Adrien, can I hug you? I to some extent know how you feel regarding breakdowns. I'm so sorry that you had to go through one.
Hawkmoth gives Chat ultimate power and commands him to obey him so that they could get Ladybug's Miraculous. Heaven knows he tried to resist, but he accepted the powers of the Akuma, apologizing to Ladybug in the process.
And this even affects him even after he was akumatized. This mind battle has affected him greatly that he could not shoot Ladybug and aimed at Hawkmoth, who he couldn't shoot either. He decided to take his own life (pretty dark for a children's show, I know), but ended up destroying the moon and Paris.
Ladybug sees this and Chat Blanc explains he had no intention to, asking her to help him fix this mess. But he decides to destroy THE WHOLE DANG UNIVERSE! Because he believes Ladybug no longer loves him.
Because he triggers the end of the world, she says she will give him her Miraculous. She warms up to him, saying that he will always be Chat Noir to her even if he's Chat Blanc (I'm not crying, you're crying)...
...only for her to take the bell that he hinted to Ladybug where the Akuma is. Deakumatization Time folks!
After being deakumatized, he looks at the purified akuma. He's grateful that he's freed. And everything is freed!
But he still calls Ladybug Marinette and he's not supposed to know. If she uses Miraculous Ladybug at that moment, then he will still know that Ladybug is Marinette. Poor Chat looks deflated at the fact that he cannot know about Ladybug's identity.
But then there's the big idea to fix everything. And the hug that grants me extra life.
The eraser would be thrown at the moment of the incident because the future was the result of a mistake that she made in the past.
Ladybug knew that Adrien saw her in his room and pieced together the fact that she is Marinette because she signed the note. From there it made sense that she would not be entirely sure, but really? She thought that Adrien blabbed to someone, who started a chain of news until it was all over the news??? If only she knew.
Alix believed that Adrien told Nino, who told Alya, who posted this on the Ladyblog. At least Marinette believes in her friends.
The best kept secrets are the ones you never share. Facts. No way to worry about the cat being let out of the bag if it wasn't let out to anyone in the first place.
Ladybug shoves Ladybug out of the way. I relate to the Ladybug who is confused by what is going on and why she was shoved out of the way. And the Ladybug who saw the future erases what the other Ladybug wrote. Interesting.
Miraculous Ladybug! Everything is fixed and Bunnyx cheers on the fact that she still won the bet with Rose. Oh wow.
Ladybug's excuse for why she was in Adrien's room was very interesting. Apparently, Adrien has a Brazilian fan club who wanted the gift to be delivered today, but could not get it delivered on time with out Ladybug because of a postal strike. And claims that they are serious fans for knowing about his fifth name. I still don't get how Adrien has five names, but I think it's cool.
Plagg you cheese loving kwami. Why would anyone send cheese??? (Forgive me Plaggg, but for the most part, I hate cheese okay?) Let people send berets if they want to!
So Bunnyx knows who Ladybug is and a few other things too. Apparently, Ladybug chose Alix because she can keep secrets. Oh dang. What does Alix know in the present that we don't know?
Marinette's excuse for not giving the gift to Adrien: what happened initially with Adrien being late home. Her excuse for not having the gift: she left it at home and was going to lie, but she couldn't do it.
Also: 563rd time????? Oh boy. That's crazy, but I understand.
Everyone is happy peoples. At least in the girl group.
Chat singing to himself now: so sweet that I wanna hug him.
Ladybug called him over to say she did it. He has no idea what happened, but he's fine with it.
That last moment was LADYNOIR PEOPLES! Let on by Ladybug! Marinette is definitely warming up to Chat Noir! My heart can't. It's my profile pic lol.
Overall, this is the best episode this season. We got the LOVE SQUARE! Adrienette, Marichat, Ladrien, and Ladynoir in that order! Also, this episode showed us how much of a power couple the Love Square could be. However, it showed us how Gabriel Agreste is trash and the danger of a reveal before Hawkmoth's defeat. And how Adrien would feel about his father being Hawkmoth and knowing he stored his mom's body in a basement. Also, let's storm the Agreste Mansion, beat the daylights out of Gabriel, and adopt Adrien. He's our child now. And I wish the Love Square is real. Plays "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele and "Ce mur qui nous sépare".
