What ship were you completely obsessed with as a teenager, but now you don't care about anymore?

None. I may not be as passionate about them as I once was. But I still hold all my past ships near and dear to my heart. I'll even occasionally nip into their tags on A03 and have a dip into newer fics.

What ship would you consider your first one?

Daiken/Kensuke from Digimon 02. I remember watching it on Saturday morning and wondering if anyone else was seeing what I was seeing. That led me to discover Fanfiction.net. And the rest is history...

Your first fanfic was about which couple?

My very first full length fic was Corinthiel, posted here on Tumblr. My first fic posted on AO3 was Dreamling, and I wrote both last year. I am a very, very, very late comer to fanfic 😅. I'm honestly much more at home drawing fanart then writing. But will occasionally give into temptation, when an idea obbsessively hounds me to the point of insanity.

Do you remember the first couple you saw fan art of?

I genuinely can't. 😅 I remember it was probably on deviantart.

Have you ever gotten into ship discourse?

I try desperately to stay out of ship discourse. To me people's ships are their joy... And I've got no interest in being a theif of joy. If there's something I want to see more of in the fandom, like a rare pair I'm fond of, I just try and create content and hope someone else joins in (@bobbole loves you 💚🤍😅) . If it's not for me, I just keep scrolling on by.

Did you use to have any NOTP or have one currently?

Again, no. I've always been happy to pick and mix my ships. I have my favorites ofcourse. But I've never outright refused to dip my toe into any ship. Maybe if it ventured into an area I personally deemed problematic. But mostly, I'm happy to try anything once.

Who were the last couple in the last fanfic you read?

I'm currently reading Remy Lebeau x Logan fanfic from Xmen. 😅 What sent me in that direction, I do not know. But I've found some amazing new fics in and amongst revisiting some old favourites.

Currently, do you have any OTPs?

I can proudly say until recently I've never had an OTP. Being a multishipper makes that kind of hard. But I don't know, I may be in too deep with Corinthiel. I'm not sure I could picture Danny and the Second Corinthian with anyone else but each other now. (Curse you @ibrithir-was-here. See what you have wraught! 😆). Them and Charmes (Charon x Hermes) from Hades. Because why would you split up the professional associates like that?! (Again very much your fault @mashumaru 😆) , Damn, I guess I've got OTPs now. If there's an established, happy couple in canon, most of the time I'll respect that and leave them be. So I guess that kind of counts too.

Is there any couple that, to this day, that you are extremely mad about not getting into?

Again no. If the juggernaut ship of a fandom doesn't really tickle my fancy, I'll sometimes stare forlornly at it. And sigh like a sad bohemian poet. But that's all content envy and I know it. 😆

Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they're kind of interesting?

🤔 I didn't dislike it, but I never really ventured near Corintheus until I started shipping Corinthiel. That made me backtrack and consider Morpheus and the original Corinthian's relationship from an entirely different perspective.

Do you have any ship that, in the past, would have been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?

No I don't think so. As far as know they're all still alive, well and for the most part, living in peace and harmony in their respective fandoms.

What is your favorite crack ship?

Bookend, Destiny and his Book. The old book and chain. Living their best, grumpy old married couple, life together. @jazzy-a 🤜🤛🤣.

What is the couple you read the most fanfics about?

Most recently was Dreamling. I'm a bit of fandom butterfly at the moment, fluttering between multiple fandoms, waiting for the next all consuming passion to strike me down. I read, and reread ANYTHING Corinthiel 😅. But of all time?..... I couldn't say. I revisit so many of my ships so often.

What do most of your ships have in common?

Two bastards in love will always be my favourite. I'd love to boldly claim it's all about two morally dubious rogues, being despicable in the kinkiest ways together. 😅 But I know it's more about two people, often misunderstood and maligned... Finding a deep sense of belonging with each other. But I'm an eclectic sort and I've got a lot ships that don't fit that category I still love dearly.

What do you absolutely hate in a ship?

Absolutely nothing outright. I'll sometimes go off a ship a little once it reaches that point where fanon locks in too tight around it. But I think that's a very me problem, as I crave variation/new experiences/ideas. I'll still love the ship, I'll just know that's just my time to move onto something new and come back and visit every so often.

I'm a bit of a multishipper so I dip in and out of many a ship. But my all time favourite Sandman rairpairs are Desunity and Corinthiel, I could talk about them ceaselessly if given the opportunity.

Desunity, Desire x Unity Kinkaid

'Technically' canon. And so full of vast, unexplored potential. This ship definitely works more following the Netflix adaptation, where we see the more heinously problematic elements of it softened. And Sandra James-Young portrays Unity as a tower of strength, fully capable of putting an Endless in their place. Unity is the contentment to Desire's covetousness. The Love to Desire. A century long Dreaming marriage, from devious plan to actual emotions, a repentant reunion and what follows, bonding with the grandkids... There's so many ways you can go with this ship.

Corinthiel, The 2nd Corinthian x Daniel Hall

My boys 🤍💚🤍. The ultimate expression of, two beings, walking a path no one else can comprehend that binds them together. Both reborn, the same yet different, old but new. Always in the shadow of their former selves yet representing new beginnings. Danny's that little touch of human in Dream that makes him perfect for Cori. And The Corinthian was brought back for Daniel, to find and protect him and that mentality transcends Daniel's transition into Dream. It's a new dynamic between Dream of the Endless and his Nightmare Arcana and I live and breathe it.

I also have some crossover pairs...

Destiny of the Endless xAgnes Nutter (Good Omens) Because Destiny needs a strong northern woman with a wicked sense of humor to step on him. It's all about that book bonding bay bay. Plus, tell me Anathema isn't Destiny junior... Go on. You can't, can you? Virtue was Destinys and I will die on this hill! (Though I'm being drawn to the in universe pairing of Destiny x Rosemary aswell. I don't know, something about it just calls to me.)

Death of the Endless x Susan Sto Helit (Disc World) I will die for this ship. I've read other Death ships and liked them, but nothing will ever surpass my love for this crossover. Death having someone who understands the complexities of her function is everything! It's the sunny x raincloud dynamic sprinkled with goth. And I am obbsessed with the imagery of Susan coming to Death's defence with her sword/ Being the one to meet Death at the end of her centennial mortal day. Plus imagine the family dinners... Death + Death. 😆

Constantdeath, Constantdream... Actually, any Johanna ship, just give Johanna the role of fandom bike she was born to be!!

Where to find them if you like the sound of them: I'd honestly just recommend going into the ship tags and having an explore. They're all quite small pairings in the grand scheme of things, so the only content you'll find is the positive kind. ☺️ The chances of finding these pairs in the wild is minimum to non existant. Regular visits to the ship tags is an absolute must for sandman rarepair shippers.

I'm looking forward to season 2 and the plethora of new ships I know it will bring with it. I still think Dreamling will remain the fandom juggernaut. But I'm hoping the more people learn about the amazing cast the Sandman has to offer, the more will spread their love to other ships aswell. 🤞🤞

look. i love dreamling. but i will not STAND to watch so many good ships get ignored in favor of this one because there are like eight non-dreamling-centric sandman fics on ao3.

like bro! i know we were hopped up on destruction x hob for a second there but we need to go back to that because whatever we were on was Good Shit. also, i doubt there is a single person on this website who doesn't have a weird relationship with religion, so with that in mind, we are sleeping on lucifer's potential there. and johanna constantine has every trait of a tumblr sexyman. as the only person to date who has written a gault/lucienne hallmark au, i need better writers than me to acknowledge that as well because OH MY GOD theyre like a workaholic in a dead end job ends up with the head of a labor union why arent we doing anything with that. and what are we doing with desire, guys. they're right there. come on.

When people ask me why Corinthiel?

(Me taking the ship lovingly from the pedestal I have placed it upon and presenting it with a dramatic flourish.) Just look at this poetic masterpiece!

Two beings, brought into the world at a time of transference from old to new. With one foot in past and present. Born under the shadow of a predecessor they struggle to escape from. Both searching for sense of self amongst the ghosts and ruins. The only other being each has who understands that journey. Who see each other for themsleves, rather then a fragment of the past or a recreation of what was. Both walking the same path together. The first two characters in this new chapter.

Daniel, the mortal born king of the Dreaming, the Waking Dream, a drop of humanity in a pool of Endless. A beautiful intertwining of the human and divine. Cori's desires made manifest. A 'dream' almost perfectly crafted for him.

The Corinthian, remade with the sole purpose to find and protect Daniel Hall. Ultimately fashioned by Morpheus to serve his successor, to be Daniel's, not his own. Cori who was young Daniel's protector, the child's sanctuary was in the nightmare's arms. And the beauty of that continuing on after his transformation....Of Daniel's sole haven from the pressures and expectations of his new role being in his arcanas embrace. Of finding understanding and solace in the one who knew him in both lives, the one who was there for his rebirth, the first one to look upon him as Dream. Of always being Daniel, purely Daniel to the Corinthian. Just mwah, chef's kiss.

Look at the beautiful hurt/comfort, fluff but mind the gore, the Corinthian is his own warning. Smut glorious smut tapestry they weave.

So yeah, that's why. 😊🤍💚

Ps.

They can be a continuation of Corintheus (True love never dies, just changes form. A beautiful study of second chances, metamorphosis and finding each other again through rebirth.)

Or along side retired Dreamling (Everyone's a winner. The literal definition of having your cake and eating it. Cue some meaningful character explorations into why Morpheus and Daniel want different things from a relationship. And finding a seperate sense of self in that beyond 'Dream'. )

Or just love them wholeheartedly for themselves.

Speaking of a confession given without words... 😉

So I think Daniel and The Corinthian would be incredibly tactile with each other... Always a hand laid on an elbow, or placed on the small of the back. A finger hooked over a crease in clothing. Some of their earliest memories are being in each others arms after all. That compulsive need to know the other is close sticks with them.

But I think their language of love would be much more subtle, symbolic. Overt in nature, they're both greedy little things after all. But covert in words.

We've talked about the Corinthian slowly encorporating more and more white into his wardrobe, (A look similar to his comic counterpart.) In a show of solidarity with Daniel. But I had this image today of him wearing just a shot of green, a neckerchief, a flash of colour on a belt buckle or slight slither of the emerald lining seen his jacket. So he's almost decking himself in his lords livery colours. And those small shots of gold we see Daniel depicted with, slashes and decorative embroidery on his robes... Are him returning the favour.

A language of love and unity through clothing. I am his and he is mine. 💚🤍💛

1. 3 ships I really like right now: Just three? 🥺... I'll pull them from Sandman as it's the fandom I'm most active in here on tumblr. If I was pulling from all my fandom pairings I'd be here all day trying to narrow it down. 🙈

Corinthiel (The Corinthian x Daniel) They're my sun, moon and stars, always on my mind. The very peak of mount feralfan. My boys. 🤍💛

Desunity (Desire of the Endless x Unity Kinkaid) My darlings. My beloveds. I fell in love with this ship from the moment I first saw it and have been utterly devoted ever since.

Last ship.... Ooooo so torn. It's going to have to be ConstantDeath by a teeny tiny percentage. Joanne Constantine x Death of the Endless. I loved this ship so damn much when it was first suggested. But then it seemed to dissappear into the mists of time. Femslash weekend has brought it back in abundance though and I am screaming with joy.

Honourable mentions to the tender box of chocolates that is Callienne and Dreamling will always be my first sandman ship. You never forget your first. There's something about RoseGault I find intriguing too. Oh and must never forget Despoe!

2. First ever ship: Daiken/Kensuke.. Daisuke Motomiya and Ken Ichijouji from Digimon season 2. My OG sunbeam and soggy raincloud. I'll still wander back from time to time a read a fanfic or two.

3. Last song: Bushes of Love by Bad Lip Reading.... 'We've all got a chicken, duck, woman thing waiting for us.' Wise words I live by. 😎

4. Last movie: Werewolf by Night. I'll admit I'm suffering immensely from Superhero fatigue. But I adore Marvel's ventures into the supernatural. Werewolf by Night has become a staple halloween film for me. And I have rewatched Moonknight soooooo many times.

5. Currently reading: I think I've done an ask about what book I'm reading fairly recently. So instead, I'm on Adult fanfiction.net...remember that? Revisiting some of my favorite Book Sherlock Holmes x John Watson fanfics that never made the journey across to AO3.

6. Currently watching: The Fall of the House of Usher. It's not October for me without a Mike Flanagan series. And I'm giving True Detective a try. Gritty southern gothic x lovecraftian vibes.. It's perfection!

7. Currently eating: A vanilla custard slice... Tasty, indulgent and infamous for reducing grown ass adults to toddler levels of eating. 😆 It is not possible to consume these things genteelly. All part of their charm.

8. Currently craving: That feel of winter in the night, that slight smell of ice in the air. You know we've offically entered the dark half of the year then. We're truly in Autumn.

hello. You are ill and I’m trapped on a four hour road trip, so fandom malarkey. Have you ready any good books lately and what set off your current corinthiel craze?

Oh @zorawitch! A FOUR HOUR road trip!! I hope it flies by for you! ❤️ I'll do what I can to help entertain you in the meantime.

I have not in fact read any good books lately... Most shamefully. Mainly because I've been inundated with other forms of amazing media these past few months. TV wise I would highly recommend The Fall of the House of Usher on Netflix, Bodies on BBC IPlayer, Loki series 1 and 2 on Disney Plus and I've recently got round to watching True Detective series one. And honestly it's one of the most phenomenonal pieces of television I've ever watched! Also, if you can access it and you like a bit of eldritch comsic horror, I'd recommend the Lovecraft Investigations Podcast on BBC sounds. It's a modern take on some HP Lovecrafts tales and it's superb.

Oh no, you've asked about Corinthiel... What have you done? Run.. Run now. 😅

My Corinthiel obbsession actually isn't as sudden as it appears. It began in May with @ibrithir-was-here 's most beloved Endless Heirs/Corinthian Bros AU. In that Dream raises Daniel as his heir and the first and second Corinthian coexist.. And well, young Dani and Cori 2.0 are 'very' friendly 😏. That got the wheels turning in my mind. Later that same month I wrote and posted 'Dandelion Wishes' (Now 'Turn of the Wheel' ) here on Tumblr, which revolved around the canon relationship between Daniel and the second Corinthian. And I've been in love with the pairing ever since. I also remember planting the seeds of Corinthiel incredibly unsubtley in my dreamling fic Metamorphosis back in June 😅. It was always my plan for that to be a huge part of the sequel.

As with most rare pairs though, (and Corinthiel is one of the rarest in the Sandman fandom.) With lack of content and no one to play with, your attention drifts to other places. That was until I met @bobbole 🤍💚. My Corinthiel partner in crime, and we've been bouncing off each other creatively and feeding each other's obbsession ever since. 😅

Why Corinthiel? Articulating it with my head full of cold and cough syrup may not be the best time, so bear with me. 😅 But oh this ship is so layered and beautiful. Both the Second incarnation of the Corinthian and Daniel are 'reborn' so to speak at a similar time. In a period of immense change and turmoil, with everyone else around them mourning what has gone, they two symbolise renewal, a restart, the second chance, the next generation. They both share the journey of being both a remnant of the past, and yet their own individuals. Old and new. And it's an understanding and experience that binds them so poetically. That's a path they can walk together, rather then alone. Not to mention their shared history. The second Corinthian was created to find and protect Daniel Hall, that was his purpose. And I like to think he never stopped, even when Daniel became Dream. Plus, to the Corinthian, he was Daniel first, and there's a sense of self there, seperate from Dream and Morpheus that must be so valued. Reflected in Daniel seeing the second Corinthian as a different entity to the first... Something only they can see one each other.

I could go on, but honestly though, like any ship, it's something that just clicks. Something that calls to you that says, these two are my beloveds. 😅 But thank you for asking and giving me a chance to rant on insanely. ❤️❤️
