Worst to best characters to be friends with if you have anxiety

this is all based off of me and my personal anxiety. Obvi other people are anxious about different things and on different levels (not to mention my biases towards characters).

WORST

Kalim: sorry. As much as I love him I don’t think I could handle it. It’s not just the parties, it’s like…everything. My anxiety stems from a fear of not being in control (haha) so the fact that he’s so carefree would actually kill me.

Floyd: I like him a lot too but he’s a nightmare. I’d be so scared around him 😭 I wouldn’t want to accidentally set him off so I’d always be on edge and once again, his carefree ‘let’s skip class’ nature would kill me.

Rook: he’s scary. Like honestly. If this was real life and he was actually following me I would actually be in a constant panic. No thanks. And when he’s dramatic it brings more attention on him and you by default for being by him so no thanks.

Lilia: I could not handle him. I don’t think our humor would match and I’d get very awkward. Not to mention how outgoing he is, sorry it’s a bit much for me.

Sebek: he’s constantly screaming about his waka-sama. Do you know how embarrassing that would be? To not only be yelled at but by a fanboy?? I think I’d just wither on the spot. I can’t handle all those eyes on me.

Leona: so he’s actually kind of high, but that’s cus he’s so mean if he doesn’t know you 😭 I think I’d actually cry cus I’d feel so anxious if he were to say something to me. I swear I’m not sensitive Leona just kinda doesn’t hold back and I can’t handle all that.

Vil: Gah he’s one of my favs but he’d intimidate me so badly. I’d be so quiet around him hoping he doesn’t notice my existence 😭 I couldn’t handle his criticism either, I do not have the right mindset for that (it would get me stressed so quickly).

Cater: another fav, but sadly, I’d be easily embarrassed if he filmed himself in public. Or if he tried to post stuff of me cus like…he’s got a good amount of followers. Yeah no thanks. I don’t like being perceived. But his bubbly personality would help me calm down.

Azul: idk how to explain this one. Like he pretends to be this nice guy but then swindles you. He’d be on my watch list which means I’ll be more on guard around him. I’d probably just avoid him if anything.

Ruggie: idk, he’s the character I understand the least, so I’d probs just be awkward around him. His humor is different than mine so I would do that awkward laugh and it’s just not a good scenario. No thanks.

Epel: he keeps trying to fight people. No way is that good for my heart 😭 I’d be so embarrassed trying to pretend like I don’t know him 💀

Jade: he’d intimidate me a lot at first, but then we could talk about mushrooms and marine life and I think we could be chill. I can have a more morbid sense of humor so his ‘threats’ (I don’t think he’s actually lethally poisoned anyone) would seem more like jokes to me.

Ace: so he literally insults Yuu right off the bat. He’d probs do the same to me. So yeah, not a fan. Make me feel like shit. But once your friends it’s better, but all the shit he gets into…not my style. (He would be a good friend tho, maybe just a bit dense about anxiety stuff and accidentally say something really mean/condescending)

Jamil: love this guy, but he would scare me at first (ok tbf any person I don’t know scares me…). Like he’s got this responsible aura and I wouldn’t wanna mess him up and he’d probs be a bit cold shouldered. But I think we would get along over time, and he’d be considerate of me so he’s closer to the middle.

Jack: don’t get me wrong, dude is super nice and has a kind heart (reason why he’s closer to the best), but he’s a total tsundere. The quietness and the whole ‘but it’s not cus I like you’ thing would just make me feel awkward.

Idia: ik, surprising he isn’t the best with all the stuff I’ve been writing about him, but let’s be honest. First meeting and neither of us are talking. And it will probs be like that for a while, so he’s a bit high on my list. Ofc once you get to know each other it’s a lot better cus y’all can be emotional support buddies but yeah.

Deuce: bro has a homey vibe. He’s a bit dense and used to be a delinquent, but if I’m meeting him at NRC then I think we’d get along well. He’s a sweetheart and that would make me like him quickly and not be so anxious lol

Riddle: ok so he’s so close to the best BECAUSE!!! My anxiety about not having control? He 100% relates and we’d probably bond over it 😭 plus I love having rules to follow so I know I’m not doing anything wrong…yeah I relate to Riddle a bit too much (just on a much, much lower level. It’s not that bad I swear)

Malleus: why is he so close to best? Well…he is really warm when he first meets Yuu. I think that he is a bit intimidating, but his personality would quickly win me over and make me feel safe with him.

Ortho: hello? The sweetest person at NRC? Need I say more?

Silver: literally the chillest man alive. AND he has animals following him? Say less. Not to mention how nice he’d be if you told him you were anxious. He’d always look out for you and try to find a solution.

Trey: wow. Ngl, I’m not a huge fan of him (nothing wrong with him he just never caught my eye), but even I gotta admit Trey is probably one of the most level headed there is. He handled Riddle really well (for a teen) and ik he’d be a really good person to be friends with. Def a guy you want in your corner if crowds get to be too much.

Being an actor and going to the mall was... Stressful. You never knew if you would be recognized, so you always had to wear presentable clothing, plus you didn't know if the people who would recognize would even like you.

The mall was no exception. With the endless stores filled with fellow teenagers and young adults who knew both you and Jack, there was bound to be at least one person who knew you.

Going out with Jack was easier than being alone. He's always there to tell you that no matter who you see, or how they feel about you, you still have fans that love you... Including him. He'll hold your hand, and tell you to squeeze it if you get anxious, give you more small kisses than usual (which is already a lot). The PDA worries you further, thinking that if someone who likes him more sees you two kissing that they'll post about it and try cancelling you or something, but the love is worth it.

You came to the mall to go shopping, you needed some more casual clothes, and Jack needed some higher end items for a premier. Walking into the mall was thankfully uneventful, but once you got further into the populace of the mall, that's when the pictures started.

It wasn't paparazzi standing right inside waiting to run you down but to get pictures, but there were teenage girls who found Jack attractive. While you were also an actor, and have also been in popular things, you weren't a hot boy...

“Oh my god! You're Jack Champion. Holy shit, can we get a picture with you?!” And so it started. He obviously said yes and you moved to the side, not before he kissed your hand though. He wrapped an arm around the girl's shoulder, smiling big for her friend with the camera. They switched so the previous camera girl could get in on it. They thanked him before walking past, both still bright red, slightly shaky and whispering about how cute he was. You had to agree.

About every 30 feet was another person asking for a picture, or autograph. He would stop and gladly do whatever pose they asked for, or sign whatever they wanted. He loved all of his fans, and was willing to do anything for them.

After splitting up and going to your designated stores to buy the items you needed, you two found each other.

The walk to leave was mostly uninterrupted, just a few people recognizing you two and taking pictures. “Looks like we have some paparazzi huh?” Jack jokes, smiling at you. God he's so pretty.

“Yeah...” You say in mindless agreement. You were too busy looking at his smile and the way it made his eye squint slightly.

“Stop staring.” He says as he blushes and looks away. He loves your attention, but it doesn't stop him from blushing every time.

Once you two were home you spent time scrolling through Instagram, looking at the posts jack was tagged in, seeing all the pictures fans had taken with him.

Then... There was a picture of you.

It was a “news” Instagram account that posted celebrity sightings.

“Ah, I see you've found the stalker photos...” Jack chuckles as he approaches the back of the couch. He puts his chin on your shoulder watching as you scroll through the pictures.

“Yeah. I'm actually... Kinda flattered?” You almost ask. He hops over the back of the couch to join you in sitting. He looks at you questioningly.

“What do you mean?” He asks quietly. You hated having candids taken, they ‘always looked bad.’

You look at him before looking down embarrassed. “Well... Normally it's just pictures of you. And I hate photos, you know that, but... It feels nice to be recognized. I just feel like an accessory to you sometimes...” You admit softly.

He grabs your chin, forcing you to look at him. Once you make eye contact, both of his hands settle on either of your cheeks to keep your head steady.

“[Y/n], you'll never be an accessory. You're your own person. You're an amazing actor, and an even better person.” He states into your eyes, and you can feel something. Something warm deep inside of your stomach. Something in your chest, like you'd just drank a hot drink on a cold day that warmed up your insides.

“I love you.” You breathe out, thoughtlessly. Thoughtlessly.

Your eyes widen in shock as your mouth falls agape. You actually said it... Holy shit. He's silent. Oh fuck. Oh god. This was such a mistake.

“Jack, I am so sorry. I-I wasn't thinking and it just fell out and I know we haven't said it yet, and I don't want you to feel obligated to say it back but I just-”

“I love you too.” He smiles softly, leaning in to kiss your lips. It felt like the stars aligned and the earth stopped spinning and time stopped and everything else people use to describe being in love.

You pull away, looking into his eyes, tears welling in yours. “Are you ok? Should I not have said it?” He asks, brows furrowed in worry.

“No!” You exclaim grinning, then reaching your fingers to the nape of his neck, “I'm just so in love with you.”

accuracy is something really important to me when i'm writing so if you think it was accurate then i'm so glad

and i'm so excited for a nagito request i haven't gotten one in a while

byakuya is not the type to nag you to tell him what's going on

he's such a "sit in comfortable silence" type of guy

because of your social anxiety, combined with his general aversion to people, the two of you don't go out often

he is perfectly content with you entertaining each other in your own home

but some times you can't avoid going out. errands and all that jazz

and usually he would go by himself and let you stay home, but this time he really needed your help with what he was doing

he knows how being around lots of people affects you, and while he can't relate, he can sort of imagine how it feels. you're afraid of people, he is annoyed by them. so you both kind of have something in common: you love avoiding social situations

anyway, when you're in public he always makes sure to stand near you and never lets the two of you get separated

if you were to end up separated, he would internally panic

one of the only times he ever experiences genuine anxiety: when you are left alone in a stressful environment

it took a long time to get you to open up to him. not that he was trying, he preferred to let it happen naturally so it was genuine.

and he is so glad you did because now he knows what kind of situations to avoid, and he is perfectly content with being a social hermit

nagito likes(?) being around certain people generally, but he also doesn't mind being alone, so wherever you go, he goes, and if you want to be a hermit, he wants to be a hermit

it was actually really easy for you to open up to him purely because he is so self-deprecating that there was no way he would judge you for anything

from time to time he will encourage you to go out and face your fear because yknow, it's the hopeful thing to do. then he'll apologize because you probably don't want advice from a lowlife like him (his words not mine)

anyway, when you two go out he's never afraid to hold your hand or bring you close to him

(i think nagito is so old fashioned in the way that he feels modern flirting and stuff can be too offensive or disrespectful so he likes to court ppl he is attracted to. we need to bring back courting pls)

so in public he generally has his hand on the small of your back, or intertwined in yours, wherever you want it to be

he's so damn intuitive. if he ever notices you are uncomfortable in a certain environment (and he will always notice), he will find a way to get out of there

kokichi is a very free spirit, you can't tie him down

he's always ready to go out and do things

being around people is his thing, he's hella extroverted

so he's always begging you to do things with him, and he just can't grasp how you are so anxious around people

he asked you why because he was genuinely trying to understand, and at first you wouldn't really talk about it, so he gave up

it might seem like he's annoyed about it sometimes, but he's just adjusting to being with someone who lives a lifestyle so different to his

eventually he will come around. and, like nagito, he will encourage you to go out and fight off that social anxiety

he often invites friends over so you can socialize in a comfortable environment and get used to the presence of others

when you two go out and you worry you're being stared at, he'll purposely do silly things to embarrass himself and take the attention off you. he's such a goof

and if he notices you're getting uncomfortable, he will get you out of there, find someplace quiet, and make sure you're okay. he'll also give you a ton of kisses!

and if for some reason any person is ever bothering you more than usual, he'll weird them out by barking or some shit so they'll go away (he would literally do this don't tell me he wouldn't)

he would always be so eager to play volleyball with you, regardless of how good you are. if you're on a lower level than him, he would tease you about it but also be very patient and explain everything to you a thousand times if need be (in his own way of course, which would probably include at least a few insults each time, but it's all in good nature)

he would very much enjoy just watching you draw/paint in silence or while listening to music. he finds it fascinating & very calming

he would go ABSOLUTELY WILD if you ever paint/draw a portrait of him. im talking like "weak to the knees, teary eyes & needs at least 1-5 business days to process it" type of emotional

I’m so anxious about doing commissions, and I’m always so honored and excited to be asked to do art for people. Especially for the fandom I love.

Money is a necessity, people work their asses off for it. There’s a certain kind of disrespect for that when you have the nerve to take it, promise something in return and give nothing with no explanation or just straight up ghosting/blocking people who ask for one.

I feel so bad for not getting people’s art done within a week, I couldn’t imagine sitting on a drawing, that will take me maybe a couple hours, for more than a month, let alone a year, let alone FIVE YEARS

I’m hoping it’s all a misunderstanding, that she’s okay, and just dealing with a lot of stuff. But communication is key when you do freelance art for a living. It lets people/ future employers/big commissioners know they can trust you. You lose that when you screw people over

Exactly! I seldom commission art but the few times outside of Kiki-Kit that I have done so have always gone well (like with you, lol). Whether it's a $20 or $40 or even over $100 commission, everyone who pays for one goes in knowing delays can happen and that it takes time to make it. We're all human and things can occur. In every case, be it from the person paying or the artist making the commission, proper communication is always key on both ends to make things go well.

It all boils down to that with this situation. If Kiki-Kit is going through some hardships or is in a situation where she cannot work on comms rn, communicating that to her customers is important. Yes, we're all paying customers expecting a product we paid for, but we also are understanding of such situations and okay with working around it and giving more time (and even in my case I really truly felt really bad for her when she made that update post in June and I do honestly all things considered, hope she is okay). Of course, for the people who have been waiting years, that's a whole other story and she has a lot to explain to them, but for people like me and the many others from the Feb batch she accepted, we're all okay with waiting, so long as she lets us know that. And if she had privately just let us know or made a public tweet/post about it, we wouldn't be here rn.

Maybe it's cause of my nature of believing in chances and giving people the benefit of the doubt (despite that in the past in some cases really biting me), but I do wanna believe she will make things right and fix this. I can't speak for everyone involved in this matter, but for me at least, if she just responds to everyone and offers an update or chance to refund, that's a good start. She will have to rebuild a lot of trust before she may ever turn to the fandom again for monetary aid like this, given the reputational damage is now there, but she can rectify it if she gets back to us. At this point rn, that's the least she can do.

Also OMG, I hope you're doing okay, Steph. Finishing a commission while there's a hurricane outside is insane but I respect that commitment to the task at hand, lol😭👏

I keep getting asks asking for help with gofunmes and stuff as you might see me post. do no have the capacity to research and see if it's real. am dealing with health and family and work and life and friend issues and severe burnout on top. just want to occasionally come here to look at some silly lil guys and art to get some feel-good brain hormones for a second or whatever brains do. made this as a place to disconnect from the world for a bit and focus on myself and what I like and need.

but also have a feel-bad brain problem where I feel like the worst person alive if I can't help EVERYONE ON EARTH and it's pointed out to me all the time that i dont help anyone enough. the first one I got I posted and said I can't do much to help but i'll share and hope my followers can help and the person sent another saying "you have to donate or i'll die" basically, like their and their family's life is all in MY hands alone when I can't even get my own life together. and that was such a Brain Feel Bad and caused severe anxiety and panic attack....because it reminds me of irl experiences of homeless people grabbing onto me and trying to drag me away screaming only I can save them and feed their dying starving children, god sent ME to them so it's my duty, when I literally couldn't do anything but dissociate and now have no memory of what happened after that or how i got out of their grips....so i've not been here as much as usual because I keep getting these asks now and it makes me so anxious every time and THAT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE A HORRIBLE PERSON. I know i'm horrible for not helping and instead getting severe anxiety when someone asks!!!! but idk how to stop it!! I can't even get the help I need and have been struggling alone for years!!!!

Thank you for your support and love, Anon! I always talk about how we didn’t expect anyone at all to enjoy our content, our ships and our thoughts about them, and honestly it still feels bizarre. It’s been a bit more than a year now, and thinking about how anxious we were about posting some of this stuff before is really weird now. So I really can’t stress it enough: hearing your words of support really means a lot. These characters and ships are really dear to us, and as long as we feel passionate about them, we’ll keep posting them <3 I’m very glad you can see our passion for the characters in our drawings! What is your hot take of Lilia and Azul mainly becoming friends to swap tips and talk about their boys' (Malleus and Idia) noises and expressions? Like do you think one would be curious and ask for video evidence or maybe the pair would bang in the same room

On the one hand, I feel like Lilia doesn’t treat Azul seriously enough to consider this (i.e. Azul is way too desperate), plus I’m not sure if Lilia and Malleus’ affair is a secret or not. But on the other hand, Lilia loves talking about his boys way too much, so I can see how Azul could get him talking. You just ask correct questions, and at some point Lilia just starts going “oh yeah that one time Malleus really did this thing…” and spilling way too much information to Azul, possibly the worst person to have this conversation with lol And Lilia would also be very interested in Azul’s stories about Idia, mainly because Idia intrigues him.

I can’t believe this actually could work wow.

But would they bang in the same room? Honestly, Lilia and Azul both are kind of unhinged, so if the starts alignm it could happen. It would be such an amazing networking event for Azul lol but at the same time, Azul and Idia both are way too shy to do something like this~

There's a lot you can do to play around with that in a story, where the audience knows this but the characters don't. It's super fun!!! When all the pieces come together in the end, it's really satisfying too!!!!

I'm always disappointed when remakes cut out the dramatic irony of it all, so in twst, despite nothing like that happening with silver outside of the princess part lol I can see a lot of similarities with Lilia and Idia being online friends who don't know that they actually know each other irl, and I won't spoil it here, but some events that have gone down in book 7 make me really excited to see if there will be more references to aurora and philip's relationship between them. I'm suuuuch a big fan of it I'm PUMPED!!!!!!!!!

First of all! I absolutely agree about what you said about Lilia/Idia’s visual and characteristic contrast (well this isn’t surprising to hear lol): they’re just stupidly fun to look at and watch. The age gap also adds a lot to their dynamic.

Second of all, yeah THE COMPARISON REALLY MAKES A LOT OF SENSE. The fact that Lilia and Idia are so close already without even realising makes this ship so amazingly interesting and sweet and funny and cute and hot and dramatic at the same time!! And while I don’t know what exactly you’re referring to (you already know, we haven’t watched book7 yet), but we’ve been thinking about the main story giving Lilidia a painfully tasty moment for a long time now. Yana Toboso looooves her setups and long games with satisfying payoffs, and she’s definitely been preparing something for these two.

Fun fact: Aurora has been my absolute favourite Disney Princess, and even though we’re yet to rewatch the Sleeping Beauty, your ask really got me excited about it. And about book 7 too..! I’m really looking forward to it.

Zarala is one of the original ones I made, I wasn't going to mention any them because it would be too confusing but I couldn't resist with this friendship, actually the fankids for the RAD classmates and new exchange students came way later, I had the au for about three years but I just recently made them this year because I'm normally afraid of making fankids of someone's oc because it's like "is it rude?" "Do I even have permission?" "Will they even like it?", people don't usually like fankids at all so that's what is always stoping me, this time I decided to risk it because I really like your oc's and as I read more about them I started to see them as part of the cast so it felt weird for them to not be in the au and well, here we are now -I almost cried when I read you liked them-

Also yes! I think so much of this brain rot is because as a reader the effort isn't that significant on our end. 15-20 mins of reading and maybe a like or comment if necessary and that's all. As the writer on the other hand? So many hours spent in just coming with ideas, even more hours trying to articulate said ideas and make it coherent and fun to read, even more hours editing that stuff. Whew bitch. I remember why I gave up on my blog now 😭 but back to the point it's a major imbalance of effort and time put into the work from the parties. And after a point these people start feeling like they are owed their own specific fantasies and needs and it's just..girl I get it it's a self insert y/n fic but dj your kitty and go back to sleep instead of pestering an already tired and anxious writer.

It's okay! I've been meaning to take that out anyway. I only put it in a while back because I was getting overwhelmed with asks about the fic and then it was making it harder to write it because I was basically putting all the ideas there vs the fic, if that makes any sense. I still don't have any more specific headcanons I'd share, as I've shared a lot, but I would love to answer any questions people have!

Anyway, as for Mark and Jackson, I don't have a whole lot but if you have any specific questions about the fics, please let me know!

I based this off "My Boy" specifically.

Jackson will start his double board certification soon so he can specialize in plastics and ENT. Mark will be stressed about his mental state being able to handle it as Jackson's been under a lot of stress lately.

Mark checks to make sure Jackson is breathing when sleeping, even when he's in an older space.

Jackson doesn't have a screentime limit, but mostly because he doesn't need one. He'll easily play with toys or find other stuff to do. Mark also doesn't buy into "screens will rot your brain".

Co-sleepinng helps both Mark and Jackson. One, Jackson gets the comfort he needs and he feels safe with his dad. Two, Mark sleeps better knowing that Jackson is right there, breathing and safe.

If it's not obvious, Mark is an extremely anxious parent and works hard to make sure that his anxiety doesn't rub off on Jackson.

Prior to Addison, Mark would go on dates and have one night stands, but he always went on them during Jackson's shifts. And he'd never bring anyone back to the apartment. He wasn't about to expose Jackson to any of that.

Additionally, Mark never intended to date someone seriously until now. One, his heart was still caught up on Addison. More importantly, he knew Jackson was not in the right place until now for him to date and potentially get a mom.

The Yankees hoodie is the equivalent of a security blanket for Jackson that he can bring everywhere because it doesn't give away that he's a Little.

Jackson tends to prefer 90s cartoons/children's shows because they were all things he wanted to watch when he was younger but Catherine never let him since he had to be "a big boy". That includes Barney (of course), Arthur, Little Bear, Rugrats, Bear In The Big Blue House, etc.

After Jackson moved in, Mark changed all the pillowcases in the apartment to silk ones to ensure his hair was protected.

Because Jackson tends to like a lot of older shows that may not have a ton of merch you can buy at stores today. Mark gets a lot of stuff off eBay, Etsy or at thrift stores.

This was one given to me by @cianmarstoo but Mark has an intern use a Cricut to make stuff related to his 90s obsessions.

Jackson is a "spa baby", aka he loves lotions, face masks, etc. One, he has super sensitive skin. Two, it helps him de-stim.

I didn't go into this in fic, but Jackson debated keeping the "Avery" in his name. Because while he has a complicated history with his family, it's still a huge part of him and helped him get to a certain point in his life. So, he changed his middle name to that. But still took on "Sloan" as a fresh slate.

Though, Alex still calls him a "nepo baby" because even if people don't know he's an Avery...Mark is still a well-regarded plastic surgeon that people fly from all over to see. And Jackson points out he literally has Grey in his name, so is he one to talk?

My little sister and brother are both on the spectrum (both have been tested for it, i haven't, my little sister stims a lot and runs around, my lil brother is more on the none verbal side unless it's something he likes, like sonic, kirby or mario kart). I know i stim as well (when the stardew valley update came out i was bouncing, clapping and waving my arms excitedly) its just lovely to see such attributes in characters.
