a great way to combat genAI in the future would be educating kids (and teens and college students and all ppl) on art way more.
#i had art classes growing up but i know a lot of ppl didn't and even less kids get art classes nowadays#we need all kinds of art classes too! music and history and painting and woodshop and drawing and life drawing#i think art history is especially important bc it connects us to our past and shows why art is so important#and all kinds of art classes help kids develop different important skills#like fine motor skills and critical thinking and making choices and noticing details and how to really SEE things rather than just looking#and a lot of art skills like woodworking and ceramics and sewing are all very practical basic adult skills that we should all get to learn#there's reasons arts and crafts and other skill based electives are the first to go and its not just bc they're undervalued#its cause a population that feels capable and confident and skilled and knows how to think critically#is harder to make work shitty jobs for shitty pay#harder to control!#same reason they're banning so many books and trying to make education worse#damn maybe i should learn how to teach better#im already planning to at least try doing a workshop for adults but maybe if i end up liking that#i could work towards being able to teach kids#i feel like teaching kids would be harder cause idk what concepts they do or dont know at whatever age they are#id have to do research and maybe talk to someone who has experience teaching art to kids#but even a simple art class would be beneficial i think#like going outside to draw things in nature maybe#or portrait drawing#or a class on how to make comics or animate on paper to impress their friends lol#i would've loved that!#id have to do that with the help of another teacher maybe#idk#vague future plans#anyway the reason education would help combat ai is cause ppl would learn abt what goes onto making art#all the choices and skills and thought#and they'd be able to more easily see the difference btwn real art and ai images and understand why making art is important

Me who has only bound one book before and used a completely different method: "ehh it can't be that hard"

.....I was right. Its not that hard.
#its technically slightly wrong cuz i dont have signatures#im just doing one folded piece of paper at a time#which does take longer#but i was expecting that#doing actual signatures would have a. been way too thick cuz im using watercolor paper and getting them to lay flat wouldve been annoying#and also i wouldve had to pay a lot more attention to how the pages were actually laid out#and this project was already kinda overwhelming without that added in#im also combining methods a bit cuz im also gonna glue the spine with wood glue for extra support#and i also dont want the stitching to be visible#every tutorial was also like ''coptic stitch is great for exposed stitching!!!'' like cool story. not why im using it. gonna cover that shit#also finding one that wasnt in video form AND actually showed everything i needed to know was completely impossible apparently#i needed to know how to attach a fresh string when i run out cuz i always struggle with that in any sewing project#and generally need a refresher each time#and all the written ones were just like ''just make sure your string is long enough before hand!!! but not so much that it becomes#tangled!!!'' bitch im making a much thicker book than you. i cannot just use ONE string. it b#absolutely WILL become tangled if i make it long enough to finish the binding in one go.#yall are WEAK#my book is 3 times thicker than yours#i need to know how to attach a fresh string#the video tutorials cover that but i had to fast forward through most of it#im running out of steam for tonight (hence why im here and not working on it) so ill be finishing this tomorrow#was hoping to get this part done over the weekend but i ended up not getting a lot of the writing done on friday as i intended#cuz i ended up having to play tech support for my friend so she could update her sims mods

#THEYRE ALWAYS CONVOLUTED AS SHIT TOO 'oh 1 beep this 3 beeps this its plugged into the wAll but also has batteries and you can press this#'button to make it stop beeping for a min but only MAYBE cos it might also just make it start shrieking or speaking in a very loud voice#how do you *get to* the batteries you ask? it would make perfect sense if you were awake but theyre only going to go off middle of sleeping#so!! who knows. this says you need to insert a pin for batteries but theres a label over it but the label has a handy little dot printed#where the tunnel for said pin is under so u can just push through the label ig. but where tf do i get a pin-#*remembers i have actual like pushpins. is unsure if thatll be long enough but all i can think of without further bothering either roommate#*they are not long enough*#*digs into closet trying to be quiet to get to my sewing box for a needle cos thats the Only thing i can think of that might work and#that i know definitely where it is* needle fits but fits....loosely-#*reexamines the beep machine* the pin. for some reason. is supposed to be inserted to LOCK the battery tray so it doesnt open#why you need to Lock a battery tray with a little stick on a device that is already going to be up on the ceiling or top of a wall idk#but in my soggy state i became jared 19 and could no longer read#anyway the reason i hadnt been able to just pull the tray out was because fool that i am i tried to just pull it..yknow....out? but#its a fuckin swivel out to the side thiing#AND WHEN I FINALLY GOT IT OPEN YALL. YALL. MOST RIDICULOUS SIZED FUCKING BATTERY THAT WE DO NOT HAVE. Anyone on Tumblr got a good guide for long lasting scars?
Specifically for a variety of different type of skin tones.
Or even like explanations on scar colors?
Like dark colored scars versus light colored.
Preferably about those ghat last years if not for life?
(I'm trying to figure out the best way to make my character look a bit accurate in plushie form.)

I'm... not too sure? I really got mix information so yeah.#also burn marks... do they turn light after healing? or only some? are they even maybe pink? or different for different skin tones?#like seriously I dunno and the internet sucked and only gave me more questions.#I do know it tends to be most common for scars to be lighter. like two tones lighter.#however because of chemicals in the body and such#anyways I'm extremely confused and I would rather information before I start fully sewing up my plushies but if not then I may not make it#too accurate for my character. #fun fact: it started with me going “would it be possible to use a puppy play mask as a base for the head?”#the answer is “absolutely no”#just learn how build a fursuit head; it’ll probably be cheaper too#since all the good looking pet play masks cost a fucking arm#dungeon meshi#kuro dunmeshi#cosplay#fursuit partial#my main concern will be to try and avoid using faux-fur as much as possible since I heat up easily#obviously there’s no way to avoid it for the head and neck#I’m entertaining ideas for the shoulders and upper arms though#I already did a test run for the feet by sewing and stuffing paw pads on a disposable sock#not perfect by any means#but now I know what to look out for; once the actual cosplay pair arrive

me, full of ongoing scrupulosity abt microplastics and also a vague sense that it would be good for me to take another crack at incorporating running into my life for 'holy shit i desperately need endorphins' reasons, scouring the shorts market for anything natural-fiber but also functionally/aesthetically fit for purpose and coming up almost* entirely blank: what if i bought another one of the merino-tencel tanks whose fabric i'm in love with (or‚ you know‚ sourced similar fabric somewhere that wasn't already a different garment‚ but like‚ that would involve learning things about 'where to get specialty fabric' in addition to the 'how to sew it' part) and turned it into running shorts? surely it couldn't be that hard??
⸻ * in fairness, icebreaker does make some that tbh are probably ideal except for cost but like. do i want to go running in basketball shorts? not really. and the tiny (women's) version only comes in black which is so dreary. i keep hoping they'll come out with some other colors but so far no dice! also an extremely crunchy-granola company makes some weird little gym shorts in a hemp knit which. i'm sorry, i grew up in manhattan and i'm dubious! they might be great but! 🧐
