As they exist in gale currently, they are just a weirdo who sometimes is unnerving. They don’t even really satisfy the yandere niche that they exist for.

⌗ it was a heart clenching sight as you opened up a cute nintendo themed card that had happy valentine’s day written with a few silly video game puns. and just like that, his plans were revealed to be a date at home with the wii and any video games of your choice, since you liked them so much.

⌗ it was needless to say, that despite being rather decent in video games, especially mario related ones that he grew up on.. his skills dropped BELOW noob level because all he could focus on was you.

⌗ you just looked so happy playing, and the twinkle in your eyes made it impossible not to stare.

⌗ for each time that you whined at his lack of awareness, he would just laugh and say it was too hard to focus when your smile was right beside him. something he would much rather look at.

I've said it so many times but ragatha absolutely exudes older sister energy. So shes already a natural before you're even calling her the nickname. Is so touched that you look up to her and feel safe around her. Thats her whole thing, keep up everyones optimism (and also perhaps, by extension, her own). Likes making you lil stuffed animals

JAX:

At first he doesnt notice that you're copying him and mimicking his behaviors; from badly executed pranks to stamping your foot in mock frustration, you're copying jax down to a T... or at least, as best as you can, given you havent mastered the art of being a prankster asshole. But not to worry, jax is gonna take you under his wing. Double trouble. Chaos². Teaches you how to actually land your pranks. Sometimes uses you as "bait" to lure people in. Menaces...

KINGER:

Kinger is like a mix of caine and ragatha, I think. Kinger gives me dad vibes that I cant white explain, and no it's not just because of his age... said it a few times but he tells embellished stories to you.. noooo cuz imagine if you try to fit into the royal aesthetic with him, be it with you as a prince/princess or as a knight or whatever. I think that would be adorable. Takes you out to hunt for bugs and tucks you in a night with a story

As for how he feels about you looking up to him he would be so so honored, also does the "as a dad" thing like caine

I think Zooble would find kids annoying, but they're not going to go out of their way to be mean to a kid. Think tired older sibling with attitude. Now when zooble finds out you look up to them, it gives them pause. Them? I mean it's raretthat they hang out with you one on one, actually it's rare that they hang out with anyone one on one... honestly I think this just feeds the older sibling thing. Probably teaches you some sass as a bonding thing. Not much to be said. Zooble is just not too open to getting close to others <\3

GANGLE:

She finds out when you two are drawing together! Kids like art, right? If not she had the stuff to do arts and crafts! Imagine she finds out because you make a drawing of her, with it labeling her as the best. Oh this poor girl her little heart, shes crying! Not sad tears, dont worry, she just finds it adorable is all! Though I dont think the dynamic between you two would change much

MHA chapter 416 (rambles)

Ok so this was like mainly a conclusion chapter for many characters and I guess I like that we are getting clarity on what's going on with some of the characters.

This chapter definitely gives me some very mixed feelings I feel like it's one of the best chapters horikoshi has produced in a long time if we exclude whatever is going on with Izuku and shigaraki.

There are still some things I definitely do dislike in this chapter which are:

The overall dismissal of izuku in general by other characters. Like no offense but I feel like we should of seen more people being worried for izuku instead of dismissing their worry and being like oh Iam not putting my faith in him or something because what do you mean you're not worrying for a 16 year old who has to fight an insane psychopath killer?!?? I still hate how momo dismissed this like wasn't 1A's whole objective when it came to getting Izuku back in the vigilante arc was because they were worried and scared for him?!?!? What happend now it makes no sense?!?!? Also i still hate momos atrocious hero costume

Ochako and Toga's character conclusions?!?! Like excuse me what's going on where is toga how is she not in the picture at all if the whole point was that she sacrificed herself for ochako and layed their dying next to her now she is nowhere to be?!?! People just accept it and are like oh well she has been defeated no need to worry but you do realise that she can probably cause damage if she wanted to right?!?? Also Ausi deserves better because what's going on with her she was so out of place and somewhat irrelevant when it came to this arc like seriously hori did her dirty. Also who is next to ochako in that plane ?!?! Am I speaking to early and that could be toga or someone else

Monoma deserved better. Oh did monoma deserve more screentime to shine and actually do more instead he got injured and knocked out offscreen which is such a shame. I really wanted to see more of him

Lady nagant's take on izuku?!?? No offense but Iam sick and tired of characters having some wild takes of izuku. One minute it's oh he sees the good in everyone and he is a saint to the next which is oh he is a puppet who follows instructions to a letter and does more than he should. I still don't like kudo and his views whenever it concerns midoriya it seriously infuriates me. However, now that kudo is gone guess it's lady nagant's turn to take some of the role because hey is she saying that his pain is a good thing and that izuku has a morally grey view of villains which I cannot lie hasn't been proven at all. Don't get me wrong I love that idea but I think like everything in MHA it just has a horrible execution and I can't bring myself to like it. Lady nagant deserves better characterisation then this

This chapter was a 50/50 when it came to the character if Eri. I absolutely adored her interaction with Kota and I find them absolutely adorable also at least ectoplasm is doing something and didn't let the girl run into the battlefield which is good enough (bare minimum). However, it still feels all icky that the heroes used her or well tried to utilise her anyway even if it's with good intentions or whatever the fact that they tried to make her heal aizawa but she lacked energy so she couldn't or whatever. Her lacking energy also feels like somewhat of a horribly introduced plot point because wasn't the whole problem she had when she came to UA was that she had a lot of her quirk built up and shouldn't the power in her horn be enough rewind aizawa into a week back in time like ?!?!! She couldn't be lacking that much energy it makes absolutely no sense to me. Also dam it's sad that Eri is out here being the only one worrying for izuku. They deserve better

Hawks and tokoyami. They deserve their win section I love them and their dynamic just wish the series could of given us more when it came to them seriously the wasted potential the wasted dynamic and tensions get me

The ending of the chapter?!?! Why is izuku in his uniform what happend?!?! I still don't get how they're merging into one person or one entity with different and same memories. Also why is this all about shigaraki like they're sharing memories so why aren't we seeing Izuku's memories this feels iffy to me. The dfo truthers have risen but tbh I don't see how this can benefit izuku in anyway and why does izuku have to watch the shimura family murder. Also if izuku is in his uniform does that mean he has become part of the memory did they do some space jumbo thing where they time travel and now they're changing fate and reality or some shenanigans like that?!??? The kotaro and tenko parallel hit tho that was good but other than that this whole Izuku's Nd shigaraki fight falls flat it's really such a disappointment and disaster to me.

I LOVE THE CONTRAST BETWEEN THESE TWO IZUKU'S. I also adore his relationship with eri I wish we got more of them!!!

Happy Monday Lovely fandom. Not a ton in these episodes for them. Gonna combine these two. Thank you for idea D ❤️ These are my least fav of the season. Not gonna lie whenever I reach the Simone eps in a rewatch I skip around her stuff LOL Never resonated with me. So it’s funny the first ep is called Simone and I won’t really be covering her much at all. Probably be a shorter one with some crumbs. Let’s get going though shall we?

4x19 Simone/4x20 Enervo

We start off with an actual bang. John and Lucy respond to a suspicious activity call. It's near a power station in Griffith Park. They find a bomb and get out just in time but not before they’re thrown to the ground by the blast. They get thrown pretty damn far and are fairly banged up. It's insane how much damage they took even clearing the building.

Tim shows up to the scene and does a worried husband look I love. Checking in on her by doing a once over once he makes it to them. Does a silent check in as he reports it’ll take 12 hours to fix the damaged power station. The silent check in is everything. Once again it’s the little things I cherish especially in low content episodes. It's subtle but noticeable once you know it's there. Trying to contain his concern with her all banged up. It’s ok love your wifey is fine hehe

I love these two shots for quite a few reasons. One you know I love the tall/smol shots. I wish I could put into words why I love it so very much. It’s just aesthetically pleasing is one of the reasons I suppose. All I know is I’m a sucker for it. Second how in-sync they are in their movements and how they mirror one another in the second one.

Third the lack of personal space. Especially in that first gif. Theme of this season I adore so much. Always that gravitational pull of theirs. Lastly look at them. They’re gorgeous just standing next to one another. Also it is unfair Lucy is covered in dirt and soot and looks amazing still. Not fair haha

Oh right there’s a SL too LOL Not me just gawking at them haha The feds show up because this is a terrorist attack. They ask Nolan and Lucy about what they remember about the bomb. Nolan of course is no help. Smh Lucy is able to describe little better for them. FBI says they’re taking over from here. Grey fights it since John and Lucy were almost killed discovering the bomb. Garza concedes and they’re able to work together on this one.

We rejoin our ship headed towards National Guard Armory. They’ve deduced this guys real target was this. Reason he shut down the power was to gain access inside there. They’re en-route to catch him. They find out he’s already on the move and they’ve gotta catch him. Which leads us to this car chase. First off let’s note Lucy getting to drive in this intense moment. It is more common these days for them. I just love seeing Tim trust her so implicitly nowadays. That this is new normal for them. *heart clutch*

Control freak in him has eased up quite a bit with her at least. Maybe not with anyone else LOL Once again it's the little things to love. The spurts of growth. They make me happy. Anyways dude stole a friggin Humvee so taking him down will not be easy. Nolan says they need to stop this guy. No shit John...What do you think the purpose of this chase is? To have fun at a high speeds in a shop for kicks?

Sometimes the words out of his mouth floor me..and not in a good way. Tim is using his military experience in this moment. (Yum) Explains why that’s not going to be easy. He’s basically encased himself in a mini tank. Their usual pit maneuver isn’t going to work on this guy. Nolan offering up another solution. I adore the silent communication and the look. That automatic instinct to check in with each other. I'll never be over it. I love watching them in the field so very much. Just a well oiled machine. Tim is considering Nolan’s suggestion then checking in with wifey before executing it. Love it.

Tim explains their plan to Nolan while Lucy listens in. Tim advices they both hit the doors. Tells them it has to be at the same time though. To avoid the wheels at all costs. Lucy needing to know the why of course. Asks why they can’t hit the tires? Tim explains they’ll die and be a cautionary tale for future rookies LOL Gotta love Lucy questioning why they can't in the middle of a high speed chase. I'm sure she wasn't expecting that to be his answer ha.

Her comment about her mom cracks me up. Anything to prove to her mother she’s wrong and she is right about being a cop. Her first thought not being she’ll die. No it’ll be about her mother being right about her career choice. Lmao Oh Lucy Chen I love you. Also I relate to this train of thought all too well sadly. I do love her saying they’ll be disgraced together. Be more married please.

Tim doesn’t even fight her on this thought. Lucy basically saying if I’m going down you’re coming with. Tim isn’t fighting her at all. His silence is saying lead the way. They’re in this together and I love that so very much. Being a literal ride or die right now in this moment.

I love me some crumbs in a low content ep. Also only they could banter during a high pressure situation and still get the job done. I love them so much. They are successful but find out the driver isn’t their guy but a decoy. Wah Wah.

They regroup at the station after their chase. Nolan asking Lucy if she got any sleep? She then calls out Tim for getting some. Not only does she call him out but nicknames him 'Sleeping beauty.' Looking directly at him the entire time. Making sure he know she is talking about him and only him. All aboard the flirt train Nolan is an unwilling participant in the matter haha

Such blatant flirty flirts. Tim fires back a sassy reply to her jab. Just openly flirting and doing heart eyes out in the open. Ain’t no thang this season lol Shoots back not to be jealous he was allowed to sleep and she hasn’t. Lucy’s reaction is the best. That fond exasperation they’ve had all season long. So used to her husband antics at this point but has to let him know she’s annoyed at him. Damnit I love them sfm.

They end up finding his base of operations. Lucy of course breaking the case. Cause she’s brilliant finds a word he’s written down by doing an etching off a wall he used. ‘Enervo’ Garza telling them it means 'To deprive of power.' John asks Tim what the military’s first target is? I love watching Tim flex his military background again. It’s sexy af. Seriously gets me hot and bothered *fans self* Tim and Lucy cracking this case right open. You’re welcome everyone haha That’s it for this one. Low content one since it was meant to launch rookie feds. Next one has even less so this is why we’re combining them.

4x20 Enervo.

We find out he’s rented U-Haul’s and it’s going to take out the biggest roads with them. Crippling the city and killing thousands. They can't get a warrant right away to track them so everyone is in on the hunt. As always I love watching them in action in the field. That second gif their cop eyes have been activated. You can see them combing the street together. They’re so in-sync as they search the streets for one of the five U-Haul’s. I could go on and on about how much I love their work dynamic I really could. But I'll stop there ha

The trucks are divided up into states. Cause well that’s U-haul haha if you’ve ever driven one you’d know. Always got graphics or other states on them. One has already exploded unfortunately so they're down to 4 trucks that need to be found. Lucy and Tim spot ‘Florida’ and are in pursuit of it. I love how calm they look. They’re chasing down a bomb and look determined af. Like I said before well oiled machine. The gifs above represent that. They are poetry in motion in the field. What made 5x22 battle scene so epic. We shouldn’t hit this again. Even the light one in S5 is really good and would fill a review well so this will be the last scant ep for them. Probably won’t combine them again ha

Creatures of the Night

I got this inspiration of what would happen if Papa Copia decided to take his little ghoulians out for trick or treat on Halloween. It's fluffy wuffy goodness and I will take every opportunity to put Copia into a cape. So...there. Yes, I'm still working on my main Ghost fic, but this wouldn't stop poking at my brain. Enjoy a meet cute and cute ghoulies.

Halloween was always a special time of year for the Ministry. It started early of course because the spirit was in full swing.

Papa Emeritus IV loved this holiday as did all the previous Papa's, perhaps more than most. He was a dyed in the blood horror movie fan and seeing all the creature feature marathons, the ghouls and goblins up and down the city streets, and the excited faces of the siblings as they decorated always made him happy.

But what was one of his favorite parts of the holiday was being the chaperone for the youngsters of the church and the young ghoulians who were always excited to get outside without having to hide their faces. Their masks were the lack of them, and they were adorable with their tiny fangs and bright eyes.

Now as Papa he didn't know if he'd get to this part of the tradition as he had more work on his plate and a now famous visage in face paint across the world. But Copia had a plan...and he was Papa, wasn't he? He could make, what was it...an executive decision.

Though Sister wasn't thrilled with the idea (You're taking two of the grown ghouls with you Cardi!) Copia came up with a similar form of camouflage as the ghoulians...his lack of his mask would be his disguise.

Although he was rather proud of the fact so many of his fans and followers dolled themselves up in his paints during the holiday, he didn't want to risk being recognized. Not that he didn't love his fans etc. but it was about the kiddos, and he selfishly wanted to watch their fun first hand. So Copia dug into his closet and found his cape. He dressed in his tight (maybe more so that day) black dress pants, donned a black frilly shirt from the tour and went full on vampire with his makeup, adding a dramatic little line of blood coming from the corner of his mouth.   The design he created was one similar to his old Cardinal paints with a bit more bat involved.

"Blah!" he said to the vampire in the mirror...which wouldn't make him much of a vampire come to think of it, "Ehehhehe...this works". With the gloves his look was complete. He'd even added a bit of black to his hair, not that the grey and silver peppering wasn't sexy and distinguished in its own right. But the black added to the whole vampire mystique and his alter ego. And well...just his ego.

The night of trick or treating came.  Copia and his group of two adult ghouls, 3 young human children and 3 little ghoulians walked through the leaf covered streets of the small town outside of the Abbey.  It was a crisp night with Halloween decorations all around and the laughing voices of children and those who still felt like they were children in the air.  Woodsmoke from chimneys mixed with the breeze as twilight fell way to the full velvet of night.  Copia was, for lack of a better word, in his version of heaven. 

There was a small-town square area where vendors had set up kettle corn, apple cider, and apple cider doughnuts for sale.  The children, who had already filled their skull shaped buckets full of candy, were begging Copia for some of the food.  Copia was a soft touch if ever there was one, and even though one of the adult ghouls was shaking their head, Copia quickly gave each of his charges five dollars to go splurge.  He turned to the ghoul.  “I’m Papa, it’s my job to spoil them.”

Even though all the eyes of the chaperones were on the little trick or treaters, ghoulians were quick and notoriously curious about the human world.  As such, one of them got separated from the group.  The little girl ghoul was dressed like a gothic ballerina, a lacy black tutu and black crystal tiara in her hair.  Her skin was light grey, and her teeth were sharper than a normal little girls.  With her long black eyelashes she looked like a beautiful vampiric fairy. 

The little ghoul found her way over to another small group of human children.  Two adult women stood with the kids, one dressed like a pink princess and the other far more in the spirit of what the little ghoul was wearing.  Black lace, pale make up, and dangling bat earrings. 

It was the woman dressed in black lace that saw the little ghoul first, the telltale powdered sugar of doughnuts standing out on her black dress and tutu.  The little girl looked lost, her big dark eyes searching around and getting glossy with near tears. 

“Hey Valerie, I’ll catch up with you guys…I think this little girl is lost.”  She called to her friend who was the actual mom of half the kids, the rest school mates who had found them.

Valerie nodded her blonde head, nearly knocking her own tiara off.  “Oh, okay…hey call me if you need help Kris.” 

Kris gave her a thumbs up and walked over to the little ghoul.  “Hey kiddo…are you okay?”  She asked her. 

The little ghoulie chewed on her lower lip with her sharp teeth.  She didn’t know where Papa or the others were but maybe this sister could help her.  Concentrating she managed to whisper out “Lost…” 

Kris felt that tiny word right in her heart.  The poor kid.  “Okay, I’m going to help you find your folks, alright?” 

The little ghoul nodded.  The lady held out her hand and the little one placed her small grey fingers into it. 

“Did you go to the food trucks?”  She asked her, pointing to the sugar on the front of her clothes.  The ghoulian nodded. 

“Alright, lets start there.”  Kris headed in that direction, the little ghoul in tow who now felt a little better.

At that moment though, Papa Emeritus IV was feeling nowhere near better.  He and his ghouls had realized they were short one child and were frantic.  Copia knew Sister would have his hide quite literally if they couldn’t find the little one without some additional help.  He and the two adult ghouls split up, each taking a couple of the kids with them to ensure no others were missing in action.

After a search that went nowhere Copia and his charges returned back to the food area, only hoping that the ghouls would do better.  The little human and ghoul who were with him could tell their Papa was sad and they were worried about their friend too.  Each of them reached into their buckets and pulled out one of the best pieces of candy they could find and offered it to Copia with big eyes.  “Here Papa,” the little boy who was dressed as a skeleton said.  “Candy always makes me feel better.”

Copia gave his tiny tesoro’s a sad smile.  “Grazie but I will not take your candy.  You earned those dolci.  Your Pappa is not deserving of it.”

They both pouted at him, the little ghoulian in his knight costume looking at his skeleton companion and nearly starting to cry.  Copia wouldn’t be able to keep it together if both of these children started crying.  He’d end up crying too.  Some creature of the night he was.  Some Papa.  Before he could spiral into a full-on depression and an anxiety attack though a little voice cried out “Papa!”

Copia looked up and saw his missing charge running towards him dragging a lovely gothic vision behind her.  They could have been sisters or mother and daughter in their black lace finery.  Copia stood up just as the little gothic ballerina with the sharp teeth barreled into him and wrapped her arms around his leg.

“Piccola principessa!”  Copia exclaimed kneeling down and wrapping his arms around her.  “You gave us all such a fright.”  He let out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. 

“Sowwy Papa.”  She muttered, glancing at the ground with guilty eyes.

Copia released her from his hug but kept hold of her hand.  “It’s okay little one…just stay with me si?  It’s a pretty night with lots of things to look at and explore, but not alone.” 

The ballerina nodded and kept hold of his hand.  She leaned close and whispered softly “I wasn’t alone for long Papa…this sorella helped me.”  Copia stood up and met the smiling, painted pale face of the woman who had saved the night for him.  “Dolce signora…I cannot thank you enough.”  He said meeting the kind gaze that watched the reunion. 

Kris smiled.  “It was my pleasure, I’m glad to reunite her with her dad.” 

Copia’s eyes widened.  “Oh…no no….I’m…I’m not her father but I am her guardian.”  He cleared his throat a look of embarrassment crossing his face.  “I’m not doing a great job of it tonight.”

Kris looked confused for a moment after hearing the name Papa being called but didn’t push it.  “Don’t feel too bad.”  She told the handsome vampire.  “I had a group of kids I was helping with and it’s like herding cats who have all snorted ether.”  

Copia laughed at the image she’d just created, realizing it was every bit true.  “Well signoria...”

“Kris, nice to meet you.”  She held out a black nail polished hand for him to shake.

The Papa took the proffered hand and instead placed a kiss against her chilled knuckles.  “Copia Emeritus.”  He replied.

She felt a shiver run up her spine as she looked into his mismatched eyes.  It was quite the effect but somehow she didn’t think that was a contact lens causing him to have that pale eye.  “Well Mr. Emeritus…”

“Just Copia please.”  He told her and released her fingers. 

“Copia,” Kris gave him a smile, “Like I said, don’t beat yourself up too much.  It’s a relatively safe town, even on Halloween.”

The little ghoulian held his hand and Copia was still feeling the anxiety at thinking she was gone though it was slowly dropping.  “Si, I know it is but all the same…I truly thank you for bringing her back to me safely.”    The Papa paused for a moment.  This kind sorella had truly done him a service this night.  He felt an obligation as well as a desire to repay it.  “Kris…if you…well if you ever need assistance please don’t hesitate to ask.  You can find me at the Abbey there on the hill.”

Kris’s hazel eyes widened.  “Oh the mystery church?” 

Copia let out a nervous chuckle.  “Si, si…the mystery church.” 

“All the rumors about that place.”  She glanced up at the hillside where it stood like a gothic Hogwarts.  She looked back at the kind eyed vampire.  “I’ve heard some great music coming out of there though.”

He kept his face neutral as he asked “What…what rumors have you heard?”

She shook her head.  “Oh I don’t put that much stock in it.  I’ve seen some of the good things you all do, the food drives, the soup kitchens, the charity for battered women and children.  I mean…that’s what a church should be doing.  So again…don’t worry about repaying me finding your little ballerina here…you all do enough.”

Copia felt a warmth in his chest at that remark and even more determination to do something to repay her for what she’d done.  He felt a little tug on his hand and glanced down.  His ballerina gestured with her tiny fingers for him to come closer.  He knelt down and Kris watched as the little girl whispered something into her guardians ear and then placed something in his hand.  After whispering a reply he gracefully stood up.

“Well…I shall not let your service go without some reward and nor will my charge here.”  He glanced over at the ghoulian who let go of his hand but dutifully took hold of his cape.  He turned back to Kris and held out his hand “If you would please.” 

Kris raised a brow and with a small smile placed her hand in his.   Copia held her hand in his right and with his left placed a red plastic ring in the shape of a vampire bat on her finger.  “From we two creatures of the night to another, thank you dolce Kris.”  He quickly placed one more kiss on the ringed finger.

Kris beamed at him and his charge, who was smiling up at her too with sharp white teeth.  “You are quite welcome fellow dark dwellers.”  She said and gave a little curtsy. 

It was at that moment that the two other ghouls and their own charges came running up after seeing that Copia had their missing ballerina next to him.  The children in tow quickly surrounded the ballerina and started asking her where she’d been.

“Ah, the gangs all here.”  Copia said then glanced at her.  “I believe we should be heading back.  With all the candy and excitement we will be lucky to get them to sleep before dawn.”

Kris nodded “Yeah I think you’re in for a challenge.”  She was sad to see them go though.  The gallant vampire was interesting and quite the charmer.  “I should be finding my own gang.”

“Si, well…farewell principessa della notte.”  Copia said, rather reluctant to see her go.  “You will always have a safe place when you need it with us.”  His expression was serious as he told her this, wanting to make sure she knew the offer was real.

Kris stared into the mismatched eyes surrounded by the black design of a bat.  They nearly glowed in the light from the street lamps and hanging lanterns.  “Thank you…Count Copia.”  She gave him a smile.  “You keep your little devils safe.”

Copia’s eyes widened a little at the turn of phrase.  “Oh…I shall make sure of that.”  He replied, trying not to choke and hearing the full-grown ghouls behind him chuckle.

Kris gave them a wave and turned, heading back to where she expected to find her group.  Copia watched her leave, a wistful expression on his face.  He felt a tug on his cape and glanced down at his little ballerina with the big dark eyes.  “Si piccolo ballerina?”

“I like her.”  The ghoulian said in a sibilant whisper. 

Copia nodded, glancing back to see the woman in black lace turn a corner and disappear from his view.  “Si, so do I.”  He replied.

When Kris walked home from her trick or treating adventure after saying goodbye to the kids and Valerie she glanced down at the bat on her finger and smiled.  When she came to the door of her apartment she stopped and looked down in surprise, finding a skull-shaped Halloween bucket filled with the really nice candy and a single rose laying across it.  She picked up the rose and inhaled the scent and grinned again.  Creature of the night indeed.

I’m seeing your rewatching posts of Die Kaiserin and after you fully rewatch I would honestly love to hear a rant comparison of how inaccurate the show is compared to real life. Like I’m seriously invested

Hi! Honestly if I make a "side by side" comparison of all the inaccuracies this answer would be 20k words long jgkglj. I feel that sometimes I come off as too obnoxious pointing out every little inaccuracy so I tried to do that a little less in this rewatch, and instead focused on which I believe are the biggest issues.

Personally, I think the problem with Die Kaiserin's inaccuracies is that they betray a completely lack of understanding of the history and the people they are adapting. It's not just that they changed dates or that they aged up characters or that the women wear corsets on their bare skin (all things that bother me too); is that the characters are so different to their historical counterparts that they are practically unrecognizable. Just to list a few of the crimes of this series' characterizations:

Elisabeth is no longer an introverted and sensitive teen girl who suddenly becomes empress and can't adapt to her new role, she's an outspoken, defiant young woman (her age in never mentioned but Devrim Lingnau just can't pass as a fifteen years old) who is more compassionate and clever and better than every single other woman in this series. She is just so Different and Not Like The Other Girls!

Franz Josef is a weak willed ruler who is easily manipulated by his mother and is apparently uncapable of assert his authority. Nevermind that the real FJ ruled as an absolute monarch since he was 18, and never allowed anyone near him to have too much influence.

Archduke Maximilian, FJ's liberal, romantic brother is turned into a womanizer bad boy who wants to steal his brother's throne and wife. Since he has no political leanings to speak of in this series, it's not really clear why he even wants to be emperor, funsies?

Archduchess Sophie was always going to get the short end of the stick, as the idea that she was a mother-in-law from hell is very prevalent in fiction and nonfiction. But this show takes it to a new level: she isn't an strict mother-in-law, she's cartoonishly evil. She orders executions and arrests (withouth his son's consent!), she threatens to lockdown Elisabeth forever if she doesn't agree to divorce FJ! She disdains her sons and calls them weak! (nevermind that the real Sophie adored all her children)

And I could go on with the rest of the supporting characters, but my point is: I don't know who these people are, they resemble their historical counterparts in name only.

And I guess I could forgive that if the series was at least an entretaining court drama, but honestly I just think that on top of being inaccurate, it is very dull as well. There's a whole episode set at a wedding party, and if well done I like this sort of "real time" episodes, but in this case I was terribly bored because nothing of note happened (oh no Elisabeth saw FJ's former mistress among the guests! She will now walk around asking people if they know who the woman is for the next thirty minutes). In fact the pacing is so bad that season 1 may take place in the span of three months for all we know.

Also practically all the conflicts this season are fictional too: Elisabeth not getting pregnant (false, she became pregnant two months after her wedding at most), Max planning a coup on his brother (false, Max loved his brother and would never do something against him), FJ wanting to build a rail but the evil conservative ministers being against it because they want to go to war (false, there wasn't opposition to industrialization - Austria's neutrality in the Crimean war had nothing to do with that), and so on.

Ultimately I think that if you know nothing (but like, absolutely nothing) of the real history you may enjoy this show as a soap opera (because the fictional love triangle gets a lot of screentime), because Die Kaiserin is really not the serious period drama it seems to believe it is.

I beat Chrono Trigger

And I beat it like, nearly entirely unspoiled too.

For the longest time Chrono Trigger was "The most Styrm game Styrm has never played" and I felt silly cause my super cool ADHD brain never decided it was gonna decide to play it until now (I also had to get it done before FFVII rebirth or it was NEVER gonna happen lmfao)

So like, what are my onions?

The game's so fucking good, it stands up so incredibly well that I regret not getting to it sooner. The music, the story, the gameplay, the art (backgrounds and spritework), every single part of this game I absolutely adored. I can MAYBE think of like 2 things I would have changed about the game but they're so minor.

Characters

I loved every single party member. The ones with character felt so alive and enjoyable, and the ones that didn't really have much character were super fun to use in battle. Crono MIGHT be one of the most broken JRPG protags I've played as; I gave him a counter item for the whole game and he would constantly attack with high crits. Marle is one of my favorite characters; being all adventurous and shit, rejecting the stuffiness of royal society but like, not NOT caring? I like it. Plus she was instrumental in having me not die lmfao. Lucca had a really great character arc with Robo and her mother, and blowing shit up was super fun. Speaking of, Robo deserves the entire world; I would die for him. Unfortunately he didn't get as much use in my playthrough as I would have wanted, but I still dearly care for him. Ayla was a powerhouse even though i completely neglected her thief mechanic, and despite her caveman speak and relative lack of goal compared to the cast, I really appreciated her presence as I almost felt like she was a pillar For the rest of the cast. Magus was hype. I'll describe thoughts later down the list, but for his gameplay his magic annihilated battles, and the dude pretty much solo'd the Lavos boss rush.

Finally; Frog. The absolute best character in the game. His design? Creative. His story? Heartbreaking yet heroic. His gameplay? Essential. I loved Frog from the moment I saw him and he was with me through thick and thin. Something I really appreciated was that HE got Masamune rather than Crono. Sure, Crono is the main character, but Frog is the hero. I love my amphibious mans.

Lavos is super cool to me. It's not really a character (but kinda is?) and more like a force of nature. I also think it's kinda conceptually funny that the main villain of this classic game is the meteor that killed the dinosaurs. I don't think I FULLY understood what it truly was, but it's a concept that I very much enjoyed.

Overall, all of the characters in this game are great. Everyone has a role, everyone is enjoyable in their own way, and I really love seeing how the time travel aspect would let you see fates of characters and their role in history.

Gameplay

I loved the lack of random battles. Every battle felt planned and like its own individual puzzle, especially with the positioning gimmick; what enemies get hit by what abilities, how do I avoid hitting this enemy with the element that heals them with my super strong AoE ability. The idea of dual and triple techs enhanced this further: am I gonna use individual turns for heals or am I gonna just have Crono and Ayla fuckin decimate the entire area?

The aspect of time travel felt overall very well used. Past experiences affecting the future, but things in the future not affecting backwards; it feels like it should be obvious it works that way but it just felt like, well executed. this paragraph proves i need to get better at writing cause ultimately I just said I liked it

I also feel like the whole beginning section with the fair leading to the trial really makes you think harder about what to pay attention to and what matters: it teaches well without shoving it in your face. Might just be because I play a lot of RPGs and this is an older one, but I was able to discern the knowledge i needed easily.

Story

So to clarify here, I know there are multiple endings, but I got two; the Die To Lavos Ending not sure why i got this one nope and the real ending; I tried to do everything that I possibly could, so that was my experience.

It's great. I kinda loved how it was less a "party vs a bad time man" and more of a "party vs a natural calamity": I feel like that's not done often in games, there's usually a big bad (which I don't hate!) but it was a nice change of pace. I absolutely loved how each timeline had its own individual struggles, and the nature of time travel made them flow together very well in small ways (like defeating Magus makes Ozzie the worshipped one). Being able to go into it unspoiled really improved the huge moments, like Magus and Crono's big events (not gonna say in case there's someone like me out there), and I very much enjoyed guessing what would be next and what would affect what.

The Only Major issue I have is the 3 party limit, and character dialogue being locked to who you have. I feel like there would have been some really cool moments had everyone been there, like the campfire scene where everyone got their time.

Music

I mean, it's peak. I've already heard some of Mitsuda's work in later games, but hearing him here do (pretty much) the whole soundtrack was just a treat to my ears. The main theme is stuck playing in my head daily. The overworld and cutscene songs I think are where it shines, although I did really like the battle songs as well. and as always shoutouts to Uematsu we love that man.

Art

Again, a short section, but this game is beautiful, and I could tell that a lot of the techniques they used felt advanced for the time, like the time travel effect, or the car race; the spritework felt bouncy and alive, the backgrounds were beautifully detailed (Like Magus's Castle holy shit), and the entire game was a joy to look at.

Unspoiled

So yeah, I beat this game unspoiled somehow. I knew a couple characters like Crono and Lavos (the fact that they Existed), I've seen some backdrops like the campfire and Masamune in its sheath, and I've heard some songs; but other than that, I didn't know anything!

Like I said in the story, it was really fun to figure out how things would be affected by the nature of time travel, naturally figuring out side quests like Fiona, and being hit by moments that I never would have expected. I didn't think my actions at the fair would affect anything until I saw the trial which made me question everything (I'm sorry old man for eating your lunch) (twice). I remember getting what i thought was the full party cause that's what the box art was, until I noticed what I thought was a 7th party member slot, leading me to wonder when this person would join and who it is; discovering Antiquity (also a surprise to me) convinced me that the person was here, and then that said person was Boy with cat that said I was gonna die, and lo and behold I was right! But not in the way that I thought. Seeing Magus be the final member was incredibly rewarding, and I probably wouldn't have gotten him if I didn't get reality checked by my actions mattering in the trial (although I do wish he had some more party interactions and dialogue). Also close to this: I did not know Crono STRAIGHT UP dies. Like, OBVIOUSLY he was gonna come back, right? But to have that happen to your main character? Felt revolutionary for the time. Didn't think Lavos was gonna be like, a humanoid creature, and I ESPECIALLY didn't think it was gonna have a phase 2.

Final

I could not be happier with my experience for this game. I can absolutely see why it is considered a masterpiece, and it's clearly going to stick with me for a good long while, the rest of my life, even. My negatives are incredibly minor, really only wanting more party dialogue and interactions (and to remove Golem FUCK that fight lmfao), and for that, I can probably consider it one of my favorite RPGs.

Plotting out Disney's future: the Reinvention Era

I had so much fun reimagining the renaissance era to now, so I thought I'd imagine Disney's future era--but I'm skipping the sequels for now; I'll probably add them to my revival era post (if I keep using Tumblr through the years). This post is unique however, since this isn't me placing it within my reimagining AU; this post is based on the real-life success (or lack thereof) of the Revival era. I chose this name because I feel like Disney realizes they haven't been pushing themselves as much with their stories recently, and they want to appeal to a fanbase whose been adoring their classic stories while still wanting to explore new subjects. I'm not gonna do the whole "they were successful" or anything; this is mainly just ideas. Just to note: I imagine pretty much all of these as musicals, even if that's not super realistic given Disney's release style. And please forgive me if my ideas don't vibe with the culture I wanted them to represent.

Yaksha--Deciding to reinvest in fairy tales, Disney opts to revive "Gigantic," a take on "Jack and the Beanstalk." However, given that their last two musicals have explored Spanish themes ("Encanto" being Colombia and "Wish" being set in a Mediterranean country influenced by Spain), the idea that "Gigantic" is set in Spain is eventually abandoned. When Fawn Veerasuthorn is brought on as director, she suggests a Thai take on the story, with stories like "Sang Thong" and "The Twelve Sisters" as inspiration. The story follows a young man named Chaison (technically Chai Son) who ventures to the lands above where giants abide as a child, and is subsequently raised by them for several years. However, when some giants wish to conquer the land below (having been banished long ago), Chaison must play peacemaker in order to prevent a war. To better showcase the culture, Disney opts for a 2D approach, though they haven't gotten entirely back into the groove of using it.

Sweet Heart--Disney decides to try again with the director/screenwriting team of Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, as well as having Stephen Schwartz make the music to give it a renaissance feel. In it, the protagonists are fraternal twins, young adults whose designs are said to have been influenced by concept art from "Frozen" and "Tangled," with open admissions of the film's vibe being inspired by Disney Channel's "Gravity Falls." It's possible the names of the leads would be changed, but let's pretend we keep them the same here. Hansel would be the younger twin, much more optimistic and a bit naive, while Gretel is more practical, reeling from the loss of their mother and resentful towards their stepmother for wanting them dead. The witch would be very much inspired by Lady Dimitrescu, the Other Mother, and Winifred Sanderson, making for a scheming, unhinged, and occasionally funny villain.

Midnight Masquerade--Given the success of a 12-member family of "Encanto," the fairy tale of "The Twelve Dancing Princesses" is the next focus for Disney, directed by John Musker and Ron Clements. Originally thought to be adapted as-is, focusing on 12 sisters and an older (40s) solider, but eventually a mixture of executive and audience feedback led to certain script changes. The number of sisters is instead reduced to 6 to better focuses on the sisters as well as having more characters outside of the sisters, and the soldier is written as a young prince in his 20s (he's characterized as a bit cheeky and playful, but wise and somewhat neutral; he doesn't rat on the princess' magical world, and instead enjoys himself while he's there). The story focuses on the young man who is asked by the king to find out where his daughters go every night, and follows them to a magical land fraught with beauty and danger (pretty much the main concept of the story, more or less). The young man's dark hair and his love interest's red hair (inspired by Daphne Blake, specifically her portrayal by Sarah Michelle Gellar) could liken to a modern version of Ariel and Eric. For better or worse, for some reason I imagine Disney going for a radio-pop sound like "Encanto" and "Wish"--though I hope it's executed better than the latter. And for another weird reason, I imagine this film being set in France--albeit in a similarly vague way as "Beauty and the Beast." Needless to say, the title of the film is tied into the Disney doll line of the same name.

Weaver--Originally planned with a male protagonist, Disney opted to make the protagonist female in order to cultivate a similar response to "Moana." Similar to how the latter film was influenced by Fiji, Samoa, and Tahiti, this film takes influence from Guam, Kiribati, and Palau. The focus is on a young woman who ventures on a great adventure to find the spider of creation (inspired by the Kiribatu god Nareau) after a malevolent force begins to unravel the world. As you can see, the plot itself was inspired by "Moana," with execs guiding it that way for profitability.

Khoeli--Inspired by "The Boy with a Moon on His Chest," the story revolves around a young man named Khoeli, who ventures to find his birth father, a king who supposedly abandoned him as a child. Though on his journey, he must contend with obstacles that his wicked stepmother has put in his path to prevent their reunion. I could imagine music by Donald Glover and Kendrick Lamar, though concern about it sounding too urban instead of traditional might be a concern (I'm imagining a high fantasy setting, but perhaps it could be somewhat modern, taking cues from "Black Panther"). While billed as a Southern African-influenced story, the music and visuals do have panafrican elements, and Disney markets it as their modern "Hercules." I also like the idea that Khoeli's moons (a full moon on his chest, and crescents on both his shoulders) are the product of vitiligo; feels like it could be great rep for people if done well.

Crest--Based on the fairy tale of "Catskin," the story is about a young Native American woman with a cloak made of a giant Stellar's Jay. Given that Stellar's Jay is native to western North America, I imagine the tribe that our protagonist (who I'll call Ayamis) is from comes from that area, but this is still set in a fantasy setting, allowing for more flexibility when designing the culture. The giant cloak was given to her by her mother, who promised that it would help her in times of emergency by transforming her into whatever form was necessary at the time. Usually this just turns her into a normal-sized Stellar's Jay, and eventually she ventures to a new land after dreaming of protecting a white fox. Though this seems to be Letaiyo, the albino son of the local (Hopi) chief, who she falls in love after being appointed his spiritual protector.

Verdant--Inspired by "Gawain and the Green Knight," a young boy who fails to defeat the king of Spring is taken in and raised by him in order to learn the rules of chivalry, honesty and kindness, the things that make a true and honorable knight. It's a journey of self-discovery, of duality and different perceptions of morality and that there may not be such a true universal take on "right" and "wrong." The film draws on influences from Tomm Moore films, as well as having a bit of a classic Disney charm--gold to bronze era-charm, not renaissance charm (though that could also work).

Rainstar--Influenced by the superhero craze, this film would focus on a female superhero with super strength and durability (generic powers, but it's the character who makes the powers, not vice versa), influenced by bubbly superheroines such as She-Hulk and Rogue. In the futuristic city (imagine a cross between Republic City and Gotham), she defends the town from outside threats, but recently she's been the target of a superhuman scientist (influenced by Mister Sinister as well as anime characters such as Fu and Deku) who wants to find out the origins of her powers, whether she likes it or not.

(Note: I actually started to make a post for this film exclusively a little while ago with characters, song titles, and such, but I've since trashed it and wanted to mention it here).

Kitsune--Let's assume Hayao Miyazaki is still alive and he's able to reach a compromise between maintaining a Disney vibe while allowing him significant creative control of the film he's directing. I don't know his style well enough to say whether this would be in his wheelhouse, but I'm thinking of a story about a man who ventures who find his missing wife after she is taken by mysterious fox-masked beings, using the fireflies to guide him on his journey. It could also include elements of the Japanese tale of Shippeitaro.

Charlie Bone--Based on an amazing (and underrated) series about a boy who discovers he can travel through pictures and goes to school with kids of other unique abilities, I'd love to see this adapted by Disney. I don't know if they'd want to age him up (he starts off as 11, so it almost gives off Harry Potter vibes) and whether or not they'd want to just adapt the first book, but in my own opinion, I feel like they could make a film that encapsulates the entire work, if they wanted, including details like discovering what happened to Charlie's father, Billy's terrible adoption, Emma's brainwashing, etc. Though I do think that the book series kinda buried the lead with the Red King (who ended up having a prequel series) as well as waiting a few books before we got to the REAL big bad. There's a lot to unpack, but I think they could condense it.

Kingdom Hearts--Kind of. The lore itself is too big for one film, but let's say Disney wanted a better anniversary film than "Wish" and was able to work out a deal with Square Enix, but only enough to use KH-original characters, not Final Fantasy characters. However, the directors decide that they don't want it to feel too gimmick-y, so they lean into original story elements with Disney motifs and references, with the story of Sora exploring different worlds being reinvented as the protagonist exploring his country in order to find his friends. While a bit of a downer, a plus side is that there's more focus on Anselm and his goals. And I'd be perfectly fine if they needed to get separate actors to do the singing (I want the OG speaking voices to return so bad!)

I am very late on this one, I know it! But this week I finally sat down with @wen-kexing-apologist and binged the whole thing, and had a grand ol’ time doing it. @waitmyturtles the verdict is two enthusiastic thumbs up. This was such a fun romp, and here are a few of the things I loved most about it:

SHIN MY BELOVED

Guess who has a new blorbo!! In hindsight it is absolutely absurd that it took a Tay Tawan girlie like me so long to watch this show, because Shin is an instant entry on the all-time fav characters list. I love his sad gay ass. He’s sensitive, he’s lonely, he’s repressed, he’s far too susceptible to Stockholm syndrome, and I would protect him with my life.

A working class trans character with an actual plot?! Thank you for your endless gifts, P’Jojo. Sure, my girl Mae made some questionable choices (just a little light murder!), but listen, I support her, in the words of @wen-kexing-apologist, embracing her feminine rage. And in the end, she figured out exactly the right target for her rage and lived her best life.

Miw

A Survivor. Gets shit done. Absolutely will kill a man if he forces her hand. Loyal to her boyfriends even when it would probably be smarter to ditch them. Also, she so pretty.

Neo and Shin’s backstory

Episode 5 was my favorite of the show and the moment it really clicked for me. I loved getting a glimpse of Shin’s lonely and dejected teen years (I just wanna talk, Ken 🔪🔪🔪). I loved that the basis of Neo and Shin’s relationship and initial attraction was the way they played together. Shin laughed more in his few days with Neo than he probably had in the several years preceding them. I loved that Neo gave him his first kiss and that Shin treasured those memories so dearly.

The Worst Criminals Of All Time

Truly remarkable these three are still alive by the end of the show. Their ideas were half-baked and their execution was severely lacking. They never had a plan they thought all the way through and they never had a single scheme that went off without a hitch. Luckily, the bad guys chasing them were also thoroughly incompetent, so it all evened out. The only smart person in this show was Miw’s mom, who knew the only prudent move was to stay the hell out of this mess.

Miw and Shin’s friendship

I just love that these two developed their own bond, even though they’re not into each other the same way they’re both into Neo. They both risked their lives to save the other. They tease and joke with each other. Shin literally wanted to bring his new bestie home to live with him. They’re adorable.

Toptap. My guy. What are you doing here and why are you being so strange? Are you good, are you bad, are you chaotic neutral? Who can tell! Certainly not me. But I enjoyed every moment your weird ass was on the screen.

There's a polyamorous relationship, and it’s depicted onscreen!

Okay, here’s the part where I admit my expectations for the poly romance in this show were a liiiiiiilttle off base. I must gently rib the fandom for leading me to believe this show would have any actual sex in it (or really a focus on romance at all) and once again recite to myself a universal truth: gifs removed from context are so misleading. At the same time, I also must acknowledge how groundbreaking it was at the time to depict polyamory at all. I would have loved a bit more time spent on the actual relationship dynamics and the emotional complexities of this triad they formed, but I recognize that’s not really what this show was about and appreciate they included a polycule in the first place. Now that it’s 2023 and he’s been give a lot more freedom, I look forward to Jojo’s further exploration of sexy polycules in Only Friends.

Against all odds, these crazy kids got their happy ending

When this show started I did not see any way for them to come out of this in good shape. I was going to be happy if they simply survived. But not only did they survive, they are thriving! Shin has inherited his dad’s legitimate business and discovered he looks hot in a deep V. Neo and Miw are living that beach life they deserve. Everyone loves each other and everyone is at peace. A+, 10/10, would watch again.

oh i like school castes hisu dearly, but i love twin peaks and all its imitators and so think the popular cheerleader archetype is anything but reductive, and her being paired with reiner at the top of the pyramid is just smart nod to the clash of titans arc: two blonds are not what they seem (severely masking gays). i adore eren and historia as a kindred NOT ROMANTIC bond via frieda, so her angsty internal monologue about him is an imperfect trade-off for her disappearing in these last volumes for Me. but school castes as a whole? i live for the CRUMBS of hitch and historia interactions, which i will enact in my dusty hiatus post-rumbling fic, on god, and i love gothkasa. but i don't think about SC that much, certainly because of the lack of old men, SO:

i love ur damn kenny-picking-up-historia-from-school art of COURSE!! janitor levi's underground reputation implies kenny is not far. in most modern AUs floating around in my head i have the reisses as "legit" capitalists or an overt crime family, and uri's happiness / kenuri's chances are inversely related to his proximity to them. so in school castes? i can see kenuri as essentially the way of the househusband if they both manage to get away from crime. oh my god. I watch a bilibili video last night that discussed Zhuge Liang’s favorite song from his youth, the “Liang Fu Ying”, a folk song from his home province that tells the story of three simple-minded, honest, and naive swordsmen who were tricked into suicide by a petty lord and his cunning prime minister. The lord feared the strength of these swordsmen and distrusted their loyalty to him. His asked his prime minister to find a way to kill them. The prime minister then offered two pears to the three swordsmen and said: “the pears go to the most accomplished.” (It’s giving golden apple of strife vibes)

Two of the swordsmen immediately each took one pear and said, “I am the most accomplished.” The third swordsman also stood and made a case for his own accomplishments and berated his friends for forgetting his contributions. Ashamed to have only thought of themselves and not their friend, the two swordsmen returned the two pears and committed suicide out of shame. Seeing his friends die for his honor, the third swordsman also commits suicide to atone for his friends’ deaths.

The folk song laments the deaths of the three swordsmen and mocks the prime minister who took advantage of their honorable character and simple minded nature to turn them against each other and shame them into choosing death.

The video speculated that since Zhuge Liang is recorded (I think in the Records of the Three Kingdoms) to have loved this song in his youth, he may have had a thing, from a very young age, for the romantic ideal of the simple-minded but noble and honorable swordsman who would rather die than dishonor his friend, who need to be protected from the cunning traps of court officials who play political games.

And I find the video’s speculation really compelling as a headcanon for Zhuge Liang, because he does grow up to become a “protector” at different points in his life for three honorable and honest generals who needed someone more politically and strategically adept to help them survive their enemies:

Liu Bei, who had loyal followers, honorable intentions, and grand aspirations but lacked political strategy

Wei Yan, the most talented and senior general in the Shu-Han kingdom after Zhao Yun’s death, the last remaining member of Liu Bei’s old guard, and a staunch supporter of Zhuge Liang’s northern campaigns. However, he was incredible prideful, deeply unpopular at court, and relied on Zhuge Liang’s political support to continue his military career after Liu Bei’s death. After Zhuge Liang’s death, he became embroiled in a power struggle with the other generals and was executed for treason.

Jiang Wei, a young and brilliant Wei Kingdom general who surrendered to the Shu-Han kingdom during Zhuge Liang’s first northern campaign. Zhuge Liang took him under his wing, helped him rise through the ranks, and paved the way for him to dominate Shu-Han’s military after Zhuge Liang’s death.

I really like the idea that Zhuge Liang had a type. The idea of a kind and cunning man like himself harboring a romanticized notion about and a desire to protect idealistic and honorable swordsmen is simply adorable.

I’m deeply in love with your artstyle! What do you headcanon for the Naruto characters appearances and how did you come to that?

thank you!! assuming you mean facial features + body types and the like, it's honestly a very "vibes"-based approach AKSDMKM i wrote down a feeew of my thoughts in [ this post ] (which i doodled as i was still not done watching naruto LMAO) but it's mostly about like.. picking aspects of the character that jump out to me and thinking about how to incorporate that in my interpretation of them, a lot of the time it's their eyes (for example i Adore itachi's stupid prettyboy eyelashes so i knew i wanted to draw those) but it could be just about anything; some examples of my beloved Guys:

with itachi i wanted a 'ghostly' kind of look to him because he is very aloof and distant, i also like having him be Long and Bony for a lack of a better word for the same reason?

with sasuke i wanted a very sweet and earnest "trying to look tough but failing because he's a little guy" vibe, mostly because those are the thoughts that were going thru my brain in any given sasuke scene in our naruto watch

for kakashi i needed his prettyboy charms coupled with his depressed everything

etc! it's hard to convey how/why something comes off a certain way, and that's mostly because imo any given appearance can be used to convey any sort of idea depending on execution! it's not Just "round = friendly and triangle = angry" yk you gotta like. flavor it for the lack of a better word

i'll put the rest under a read more so it's not too long ^^

for more general examples here's my kabuto (yeah i'm a kabuto liker. woe.), konan and nagato

kabuto (esp. in shippuden) has sharper features and i also wanted to go with a face type i'm not AS used to drawing for funsies, i also think the Angles contrast well with his (...stupid...) glasses.

kabuto is an adult but he's still very young esp when we first meet him so when drawing his younger self i'd like to put emphasis on that (especially because he presents himself as friendly), thus the slightly rounder features. by contrast in shippuden he's Going Through Some Things so the spikes in his hair are emphasized and he looks a bit more mature

konan for me sticks out as like, "bold"? not aggressive but very intense if that makes any sense, she's a very serious person and you can tell from the moment you see her, nagato ofc has the rinnegan so his eyes have to be the main feature of his face, and similar to itachi he has a thinner body type... what i wanted with him was similarly a very serious person with a lot of edge to his gaze due to his special dojutsu. and finally on a more subjective level i wanted them to look like they match/belong together because i'm very normal about them ♥

i also enjoy conveying character through how hair is maintained, so for nagato he lets his hair grow kind of however it wants to, konan is more meticulous about hers (tho i forgot to draw her bun in that LOL), and kabuto (given when his design transitions to the shorter hair) i very much picture cutting his in a moment of crisis (pictured below. <3)

there's also always like.. the Fullness of the hair if it makes sense, i enjoy drawing 'fluffier' stereotypical anime hairstyles a lot but i also really like having people like itachi with finer hair and such, i also think varying that between characters gives each a more unique charm :)

one should also note that a lot of the times the physical features are only half the impression, the other half is how they carry themselves and body language conscious And subconscious!

i think in general studying from life will never lead you wrong (even if your style isn't 'realistic', like, mine certainly has anime leanings), and being mindful of what kind of choice/feature you give someone and what you think that implies about them is always important :) the characters i draw are all characters i like so i try to let whatever makes me fond about them have an influence ^^

it's a constant learning process imo i personally find that even if i like how i draw faces Now i often find them wonky like, 6 months later? but i take that less to mean that i drew them Bad and more to mean i've improved lol

With the GMG arc almost wrapped up i feel it's now a good time to give my overall thoughts about it, mentioning the things I did and didn't like. Note: this will be more negative than positive as unfortunately I was disappointed by this arc in a way I haven't been with the others. This will be a beefy post as the arc is longer than any others before it.

I want to start by saying I went into this arc with positivity towards it. I may be critical of the show but when I read the arc as a teenager I genuinely adored it. And I feel that, while rocky, the arc started off fairly strong. The first test to enter the games was a fun concept. We got a bit of focus on one of Lucy's silver keys which is always a treat and the nature of the maze itself was great.

I loved getting to see more guilds for once and the choice to include GMG as the first major post time skip arc isn't a bad idea. The thought to give fairy tail a fall from grace isn't terrible (the execution of it is another story entirely) as it adds some stakes to the games themselves with fairy tail aiming to reclaim the public opinion.

Sabertooth as a foil to fairy tail was again, a solid idea even if the plotting didn't fully do them justice. A sanctioned guild built on the idea that strength and power are all that matter is something that could've worked but unfortunately fell flat.

Acnologias backstory is one of my favorite reveals in the show. As is the twist that two people appeared from the future and Ultears magic only getting 1 minute back. Erza vs 100 monsters is always going to be a highlight.

Unfortunately I'm going to now shift into criticism territory:

The issues with this arc start from the timeskip itself. First none of the fairy tail characters left behind were allowed to get stronger and begin to hold their own. They still could've been a much worse guild with the lack of members and harassment from other guilds in the area but we can't have anyone outside of team tenrou hold any weight so instead fairy tail gets to be pathetic unless a specific group is there. This ties into Mashima generally just ignoring his side characters that don't have immediately obvious strong powers.

Even Romeo suffers from this and that's such an intense level of disappointment for me because he's been going on missions with Bisca and Alzack for years at this point. Let the kid be capable of holding his own in some way.

Next: the 3 month time skip, there was no reason for Mashima to skip over yet another bit of time and avoid a training arc for his characters. Them training hard to get stronger and their work paying off in the games would've been way more satisfying for the audience and (if the group separated for it) allowed for some really awesome reveals of what everyone accomplished in their time apart.

But we didn't get that so we go into the games and have a few episodes that while not perfect, do a decent job of exciting the viewers for what's to come. Then we get to the games themselves and it starts to have problems. People cheating and nothing coming of it other than fairy tail getting brutalized for the sake of angering the fan base on their behalf. The guards and council being essentially written as incompetent unintentionally so that we can make sure dramatic story beats happen. Raven tail being a mockery despite how it's been built up since before the timeskip as a force fairy tail will need to face down.

Endless fights that are written to "prove fairy tail is just superior because they're stronger" with the same tired cycle over and over again. Natsu specifically is the worst offender of this with him going from being destroyed by sting to somehow being able to take both him and rogue on all by himself in spite of how worn out he should be. The audience of the games similarly being given a mob mentality of apparently wanting fairy tail obliterated because they kind of suck at some arena games? The games themselves having a pretty unclear set of rules that is adjusted based on what Mashima decides will happen. Villains, as always, being written as heavily sadistic monsters who care about no one without thought to future potential redemption arcs mashima will opt to add in.

Lucy being humiliated at every turn because we can't allow her to have any level of success. The ridiculous level of red herrings that are just outright lies told by Mashima to trick his audience in the most childish way he can. He basically beats his readers over the heads with how they should feel about his plot rather than just writing it and allowing consumers to form their own opinions.

I can't even really enjoy Sabertooth being a foil to fairy tail because the very thing they're supposedly different for, a focus on strength, is something mashima prides fairy tail on as well. How often do we get shown characters being pathetic and uninteresting because their powers aren't as good as the main characters? How many times does the writer himself depict people in the guild being made the butt of the joke for not being as battle savvy. I mean fairy tail itself falls out of favor and the story shows us that them being stronger than everyone is how we should know they're worthy of our attention. The message doesn't work.

Raventail was absolutely wasted as an antagonist and building them up for so long only to take them out in the most boring way possible makes it feel like Mashima wasted his audience's time. I don't understand how time travel magic works since half the time they tell us time magic takes your life and the other time it actually takes no life at all to do, bringing in confusion on what stakes we should even take away from using it.

The guilds themselves also feel incredibly empty as Mashima gives them almost no members outside of the ones named who compete. I don't need a bunch of named extras, but if you're going to give us boxes for the guilds at least show us the full boxes of the rivals and have them working with their guilds during the final battle.

This arc cemented that Levy was fundamentally changed as a character in a way that doesn't line up with her original depiction and angered me since she's my favorite character. She was literally shown to be the most competent member of Shadowgear who saved jet and droy in tense situations and yet now she's apparently someone they need to protect and save because she can't take care of herself despite testing to be an S-class wizard.

This arc was also not helped by the animation changing half way through and the budget seemingly decreasing along with it making the story issues much more prevalent when the art isn't something the series can fall back on.

I wanted to like this arc, I expected to have far more highs than lows and was sorely let down in every capacity. I know I actually missed specific mentions of things that irked me and that's largely due to how much their was.

Greetings Astro Nerds! I have a few important things I want to speak about this morning. In typical 10H Virgo SN fashion I’ve been acting like I have it all together and behaving as if everything is perfect behind the scenes, but it is not. So, I’ll let my 4H Pisces NN tell you the real and I hope it will be appreciated but if not, that is okay too. 

Let's get real transparent 

First things first, My Patreon will not be launching in August. It will be launching September 1st instead. Ultimately, there is just a lot I want to do, and I overestimated how much time it would take to get it set. For my future patrons I want to make sure that they are consistently getting quality content. I want to have great detailed posts that will help you better your life, I want to do YouTube style videos, audio recordings, exclusive info, physical merch, other free physical media keepsakes and more! I’m a physical media girl to my core so just in case anything happens, I want everyone to be able to have something to remind them that they are or once was a part of my Patreon. Also, to be able to include all of these things for only $9 is reasonable to me but will simply take a little more time to carry out. 

I also have a lot coming up in August. I will be doing more promo, better posts on here, Independence day is coming up (shoutout to my fellow Jamaicans), and of course Mercury retrograde. {Post about realistic things to do during merc rx is coming after this!}

Wanting to incorporate more of my creativity and true self into this is also another thing on my mind as well

There is a lot on my mind and a lot that running your own business completely independently can and will take a toll on you if you are not properly taking care of yourself which I haven't.

I like to be able to give content based on real life experiences and my trials and errors (2H ruler in the 1H in sag). I teach the best this way. My 2H stellium has a lot of ideas but the 3H Nep can cause clouds and clusters in terms of execution at times.
