Marcia loved auditions. The dancing, the singing, the competition. It was better than any drug.

She dropped her bag down by the mirror, starting to stretch as she sized up her competition. Jan was there, of course, lycra-covered arms wrapped around Jackie’s waist. Plasma, a fellow freshman in her improv for theatre majors class, was sitting on the seat nearest to the door, rifling through her sheet music. My first audition for a (main stage) college show is today!! I’ve decided to just go in relaxed and with no expectations, considering I haven’t really had time to practice and I’ll have more opportunities later :)

anyway when i was leaving the building i ended up walking with maestro in the hall briefly and he asks me how i'm doing and i say "tired" and he's like "me too. sorry about that" (meaning the extra long rehearsal tonight) and i say "we needed it" (unfortunately we really do) and he says something to me about how people really need to listen and follow through when they're told they need to practice early and diligently for hard rep like this. i'm not sure if he regrets programming it or not by now. it's just starting to come together but "four days before the concert" is not when you want things to JUST start to come together...well on my way out he said that our rep next semester should be lighter at least
