My update is that I’ve hit a brick wall with WTB and writing (and life) but me and the team (me and myself) are trying to find our way around or through it.

I’ll be playing around with some other genre stories in the background, reading some other IF’s and listening to some tunes all in a search for that inspo (will take any recs related to urban fantasy)

ok see when i say luz and hunter are siblings i don't just mean like they hang out and make fun of each other sometimes. i also dont just mean they have parent-child connections with the same adults making them "found family siblings technically" or however people describe it. they can do that sometimes but what i mean is that they are blood brothers (east asian concept)

Concept:

That old trope of the cop paired up with a con artist to fight crime, do a heist for good, or whatever.

But instead of the usual roles of "cop is uptight, highly organized, and easily flustered by improvising, committing crimes to accomplish the larger goal, and any risk to civilians" while "con artist is free-wheeling, terrible at planning/sticking to plans, and entirely too casual about collateral damage"

You flip that to get:

Fussy, organized, highly-principled gentleman (or woman) thief/con artist, partnered with a loose-cannon cowboy cop. Con is always galled at how willing cop is to deviate from highly-detailed plans, commit incidental crimes (while shielded by their badge, naturally - Why sweat that small stuff?), and how unconcerned they are with anyone else getting hurt by their actions.

The con's lived by a code of "getting noticed at all makes your life harder", while the cop is basically a bulldozer looking for praise.

Con is hyper-focused on their target and their target only - Meticulous, and detail-oriented. Everything is clockwork and there are endless contingencies, even if the plans are so well-executed, they're rarely needed. Cop is all seat-of-their-pants, "Let's just go already, time's wasting!", guns-blazing, bold antics, knee-jerk reactions.

Con knows what skills they have and lack and is used to hiring (and vetting very thoroughly) professionals to handle other roles on the job - including ones they could handle, but skill overlap's not bad - You want enough people to handle things comfortably, but only as much as you need - Less risk of leaks, less splitting of the take. But you do want the mission to be a success, so you don't skimp on making sure roles are filled and have some redundancy if necessary.

Cop meanwhile is a full-on "Do everything myself" sort of Prima Donna who doesn't even like the idea of having a partner. Anything so complex that you need more people than that is too complicated anyway.

I might have to write this down and come back to it when I actually have a plot to go with this character dynamic.
