Making it onto n*zi tumblr was a trip, but guys: you have to start understanding what dog whistles are and what blatant antisemitism looks like (I'm talking to non-jews here).

The enemy of your enemy is not your friend in this case. You have to start participating in your political spaces with a critical eye, and that means understanding what antisemites are doing to try to radicalize you. If you think n*zis wouldn't pretend to be On Your Side just to radicalize you, you're wrong, and you'll be willingly putting yourself at that risk. Their jew hatred is what keeps them alive, what motivates their existence - they will do anything to ensure that other people are just as hate-filled as them.

I'm making this post with the hopes that someone will read it and it will remind them that not everyone on Their Side is their friend. Educate yourself on jew hatred and what it looks like. Listen to jews. It's never too late to learn, to make the world - to make even a tiny space be a safer place for jews.

People who are wounded and sick must be able to receive medical care, and medical facilities and personnel must be protected and respected. Medicine, medical equipment, food, clean water, and fuel are all essential and should be accessible to people throughout Gaza. Fuel is urgently needed to power hospitals and ensure that water can be treated and made safe to drink. According to the UN humanitarian agency, less than four percent of the urgent needs are covered so far. In the midst of a catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza affecting more than 2 million people trapped under Israeli siege and bombardment, today we called for an immediate ceasefire to save lives and restore the flow of humanitarian aid.

Heartbreaking News ...

I woke this morning to the devastating news that 7 members of Chef José Andrés World Central Kitchen were killed in Gaza overnight.  These were people who left the comfort of their homes, left their families, to travel to Gaza to help feed the hungry … and for that they were killed.  The workers were leaving a warehouse in Gaza in two armored cars — branded with the WCK logo — when they were hit…

Okay, finished Death and the Maidens and uh, yeah. Everything I saw that said it was fucking terrible was right. Absolutely hated it. -10000/10.

There was exactly 3 things about all of that I liked:

The concept of Nyssa as Talia's older half sister that's been running around doing humanitarian efforts for centuries (and literally nothing else about her backstory because holy fucking shit what).

The single moment of Talia being happy and enjoying herself and briefly vulnerable and open about how she doesn't have many friends (could have truly been some great character moment stuff in something else)

Alfred's sass.

That's it. That was everything I enjoyed about that story line. What the absolute fuck did I just read?

Anyway, uh. I'm gonna take the 3 things I liked about the story, try to scrub the memory of literally everything else, and work out what I would have liked to see happen with Nyssa & Talia instead and figure out how to incorporate that into a fic.

Alright time to scream loudly into the void. I just anonymously donated 20$ across GoFundMe and the PCRF to help families who need urgent evacuation from Gaza. It's barely a drop of water. It's all I can afford to give. There's so many. I have never had the courage to donate to any causes. But the news about those students who protested? Their courage fucking reached me. Bravery is contagious and it's time to get down with the sickness.

The people who are killing them would kill me, kill you, if they were allowed to. People who are decent do not gleefully commit genocide. That terrifies me. The apathy towards that fucking terrifies me.

I'm spreading the word. It's reached this little corner of the void. I'm just some loser with a Tumblr who could only pitch in twenty dollars to what feels like the most horrifying event that's unfolded in my lifetime so far. And that's only because I know about it, because of the pleas I've read and the people reaching for a line to safety and the bravery of some university students/faculty in the US.

Please help them if you can. Please don't give in to despair if you can't. Please keep talking about it and raising awareness about what's happening in our world, to our human beings. There's power in numbers, there's power in acts of kindness and acts of courage. The Internet is amazing in the way it can bring the best of humanity together.

Like I said, I'm just some loser. My life's been pretty shit, actually. But I'm a human, too. I can be brave, too. I can stand for what I believe in, too. I can give 20$ more than they'd otherwise have, and this loud scream into the void, too.
