the fact that languages change over time is so funny to me. we have thousands of language that work perfectly well, but no that's not good enough, we need to keep fiddling with them. no not making them better, just making them different. why? well, humans enjoy making up words and phrases. for fun. enrichment activity

like sure, she makes some human references in the first couple books but it kinda just fizzles out

she spent her formative years in the human world, so idk it’s kinda disappointing that she acclimates and lets go of everything she’s ever known so fast

Dhare, her dense mate, hums in his throat appreciatively, “More cushion for pushin’,”

Wide eyed, Ashaki turns to him with a quirked eyebrow.

“I see you didn’t listen when I told you the internet was bad.” She crossed her arms and stood there in mock disappointment.

The large Yautja shrugged, sinking into the water until only his head was visible. Soft clicks echoed from him as he stared at her with shimmering golden eyes. Mischief lied within them—Ashaki was sure of it!

“Skibidi…Ohio.”

“And you learned human slang,” Ashaki groaned, pinching her nose in exasperation.

“Your aura is negative in the thousands, Kiki.”

Shaking her head, she left the bathroom. Before the door closed she heard Dhare continue to blab slang he clearly didn’t understand, and neither did she! What the hell did any of that even mean?

“Mate! My rizz is mighty!”

i’m sure i said this already but regis swearing when quoting angoulême’s phrases is too dangerous. he could bypass his social etiquette, if only he prefaces it with “as our darling young angoulême says”

Human Slang/Texting

So people have probably put everything there is on this subject out there, but just imagine what texting must be like. There'll probably be some form of text communication in the future, and my assumption is that humans will have only continued to shorten words.

Human-Jeff: So yk about the thing we're doing later?

Glenörg: Yk?

Jeff: Yeah

Glenörg: What word is this?

Jeff: Yk = you know

Glenörg: I don't know

Jeff: ?

Glenörg: What question are you asking me?

And so on. This, but with all of the text shortenings. An alien texts a human something, human goes "lmao" or "lol," at this point no questions are asked because this has been accepted as "just another human thing.™️"

Aliens in media will speak in "Gleep Glorp gloop" as their Native language, but when they start talking to humans they'll speak in "Spock Speak" in an effort to communicate with us.
