Headcanon -

Sun is transfemme, and nearly nobody knows. By and large, pronouns are a roulette wheel of "does this bother me Yes/No/Unknown". If given her own space and freedom to present however they want to without any consequences or follow up, she'd present almost exclusively somewhere between androgynous to femme. Gender is a performance, and she was initially made for the stage /j

Moon had a... mild suspicion in the beginning, but couldn't place it. At first, he didn't care to. Then, he was busy with more important things. Then after that, everything went to hell in a handbasket, so it never came up.

Ironically, Eclipse does know. As much as he refuses to admit it, his sentience was essentially incubated by Sun's code, and he's spent copious time in close, attentive proximity. He also knows that Sun isn't ready to come out yet, and while he's a bit of a jerk, he's not gonna cross that line. He does, however, use "Sunny" more often than not, bc it's a nickname that always made her a little more excited and happy. He'll never admit to it.

Earth and Lunar never really questioned anything about Sunny beyond "Oh, that's a bot with anxiety". Earth specifically also has a habit of calling things cute and sweet, and very quickly picked up how Sun absolutely glowed with the phrasing, so she uses it regularly. Lunar, meanwhile, doesn't clock "Sun is sis, not cis", and personally is mildly offended bc they had more faith in his gaydar/transdar than that. How shameful (/hj)

Solar had no warning or clue but also may arguably be the most chill. Sun is Sun, and Solar care about that obsessive compulsive mess.

Monty.... wondered, sometimes, but never brought it up. Never seemed the right time, ya know?

Once Sun DOES come out, everyone is supportive and it's lowkey hilarious bc Sun is just HEAPED with praise, and Lunar and Moon devolve into "how did we not KNOW" which... not the time or place, guys, but whatever.

Jack and Dazzle just kinda blink. "Uncle is not uncle. Uncle is aunt. Auntie Sun ooooh~" and "Sunny is still Sunny. I haves a girl bestest friend and a boy bestest friend now."

There are, ofc, slip ups, but it's a quick adjustment all in all. The first time someone calls Sunny sister has her biting back giggles while her rays spin.

When Dazzle calls her Mama, though, she explodes /pos (/bittersweet)

(Also bonus points - all the "bad guys" and antagonists don't get the memo, so they go to do their evil monologs and someone interrupts when they go "and poor little Sunny, pathetic man-". Upon being corrected, they immediately go "ah, my apologies. Ahem. Poor little Sunny, pathetic girl-")

Well, that was a nice, light episode! Drama! Flair! Facepaint! But nothing too plot heavy or angsty.

I think the Flyer Derby plotline stood on its own quite solidly, and it was definitely apparent that it was the main attraction here. Some more development and confidence building for Willow, and Hunter got a brief taste of actually being a kid for once.

Also, I feel the Lumity part managed to avoid overshadowing the episode, unlike in Through the Looking Glass Ruins. Their interactions were cute and sweet, yet casual and understated. Clearly girlfriends, but not too in-your-face about it, and the storyline was cute enough, even if it did have Tibbles.

now that jisung, hyunwoo and even hyunjin (sadly) has reached their demise, it finally dawns on me that this really is an end of an era. we spent like the past 1 or 2 maybe even 3 acts going through a gazillion emotional roller coaster rides all caused by jisung, but now is it weird that i’m kinda sad that he’s gone? it’s a perfect ending since jisung will probably never get his redemption even if he lives, but idk, i think it’s kinda depressing how love makes you do crazy shit :/ hyunwoo, on the other hand, BYE YOU ASS LMFAO WELL DESERVED. the only thing that dude has is the fucking audacity until the very last minute.

the action scene was beyond immaculate just as the emotional ones and there’s no doubt about that. im writing this with metaphorical tear streaks down my face and a broken heart after reading the whole chapter. you’ve got a way with words that can make me feel like i’m living and breathing in this fictional world. also, can we talk about this:

now onto the spoiley bits... you're spot on! this is the end of an arc in its own regard where we've been in this storyline for such a long while by now that it's a bit like wow! that's over! i've been loving seeing the mixed bag of reactions about jisung, truly, the overwhelming majority are upset over his death even if he was a villain in many regards and that is super fascinating to me and frankly that was my goal i was trying to achieve! switching the perspectives of jisung vs hyunwoo, i wanted to play with that concept and i couldn't be happier with the outcome!

hongjoong and mc have such a fun dynamic and push-and-pull to play with too i adore it and i adore seeing everyone react to that as well, especially with recent chapters ofc.. but she's a strong one! she's resisting well! she's still got her resolve and her dignity both buttttt we'll see how much longer that lasts :3

So, Boku No Hero Academia World Heroes' Mission is finally on my country’s cinemas, and now that I’ve finally watched it, it’s time for my thoughts.

(Spoilers ahead!)

Let’s start off with the fact that I’m rewatching the movie, but this time it’s someone’s recording of it. Finding it might have taken me a while, but I am the master at finding pirated content.

My thoughts:

Izuku’s new suit man, I love it.

That intro tho, now that’s perfection.

Rody’s English dub. I never watch the dubs of anything, but I found a recording of the English dub so I’m rewatching this while I write. The point is, I already love his dub.

The fact that Izuku couldn’t catch up to Rody for a while is ridiculous.

Bones is trying to do way too cool scenes, to just realize that they don’t have enough budget to make them look good, but they don’t care so we end up with this, some scenes that look crappy to be done by animation studios, but wonderful if they were fanmade.

May I propose Midoriya Izuku as the best Spider-Man? My man caught his Gwen Stacy/MJ on his first try! /ref

Todoroki is seriously like ��Break your phone and run away. I don’t care if you actually killed someone. Just run”. Or at least that’s how I’ll always interpret it since I saw a post about that.

“Cafetería Callejón” huh. So this actually does take place in Spain? I thought that article I saw was a joke or an exaggeration, granted, I didn’t read it, but still! (Later in the post I’ll talk about where the movie actually takes place).

That scene in the cave was the moment in which I realized, “god. I’m gay. I’m way too gay. I’m too gay for this two.”.

All of that thing about how Rody doesn’t like heroes because they never go to the place in which he lives, therefore he believes that all of them do it for the fame pissed me off. Not because I don’t agree, because he’s entirely right, but because I’ve been writing a fanfiction for a while about that idea, and now I’ll no longer make the fanfic that makes the reader go “damn, I never thought of it that way”, because canon now said so as well :/. I mean. I’m glad that they said it, but dude!

While doing the rewatch, I found out that what the dub and the sub say are different things. Sure, that’s to be expected but one stood out to me. While Izuku introduces himself, in both he says some variation of the same thing: “but my hero name is Deku”, Rody answers and says essentially the same in both the (oficial) Spanish sub, and on the English dub: “Deku. That’s easy to remember”. And while in the Spanish sub he says “yeah, that’s how I like it” (or something along the lines of that. The point is that he says that that’s the point), in the English dub he says “yeah, it’s growing on me”. So are my suspicions about Izuku not actually liking being called “Deku”, and slowly getting used to it true? GO ME! YOU FIGURED IT OUT!

I remember how much I loved whatever Rody wrote on that piece of paper he left to whoever he got the van from, but on this video version I’m watching it’s unreadable, so I can’t quite comment on in.

English dub’s “first person to break her heart gets KO’d (yes, I did have to google that word)” is the second best thing I’ve ever heard in a BNHA dub, and probably in any other dub.

(If you are curious, my favorite thing that I’ve ever heard in a dub is the dub for Latin America of the movie BNHA Two Heroes, in which Bakugou tells Todoroki, and I quote, “¡A un lado, copia de Zuko!”, which essentially translates into “Out of the way, copy of Zuko!”. I still can’t believe this is canon.)

Andre's death was extremely brutal. It's a good thing Josh doesn't survive his encounter, because seeing the corpse would haunt him. Not like an alternate isn't already haunting him, but still.

Josh has had experiences with alternates, similar to Mark. They spoke to him and tried to interact with him, but they started to go away the older he got. He later brushed it off as something as simple as a very creepy imaginary friend, but obviously that's not the cause.

Julie's fate in this AU is...uncertain. We don't know if Sarah survived or not, but I'd like to say that Julie lives. Maybe she even tries to find out what happened behind her brother's death.

Alt!Andre appears almost animalistic when not appearing as him. Slitted eyes, sharp teeth, hands that turn the color of ink with fingers that extend into claws, and sounds a human could never make. There's no good reason for him to be like this aside from the fact that he's a werewolf in FMR canon, but I like the idea of an alternate that takes on a less human form.

Speaking of forms, Alt!Andre's "human" form still doesn't appear human. Rows of blades are visible when he smiles, his eyes almost seem to reflect something in darkness, and his ears are just a little pointed and dark at the tips. When he speaks, it almost sounds like two voices at once: one sounding identical to that of Andre, and one sounding like an animal's growl spitting out words.

Josh has a lighter that he grabbed when the alternate chased him into his room. When it became clear that it wasn't going to let him out freely, he set the house on fire in the hopes that it would kill both of them. Did it work, you ask? I'll answer that soon >:)

Salvador is the lead of the police department. He wants Andre to do the same, but Andre has different aspirations. Of course, those never come to fruition seeing as he's not much more than a mangled corpse now.

Also, and this is something specific to the AU as well as FMR canon, but Josh still harbors feelings for Andre. Watching the person you've loved for nearly a decade be replaced by some creature mimicking its appearance in a twisted way must be wonderful to the mental state, huh? :)))))

Were the three of them really close in Scotland, but left as soon as possible bc their family was abusive, only for Kent and Raphael to find refuge in the Templar Order while Henry goes to university? Would they still have that brotherly love if they were close as kids even when they are in the Order, or would they have a falling out and start despising each other (or Jekyll @ the older brothers at least)? Would Raphael and Kent secretly be protective of Henry and manage to keep him out of Starrick's line-of-sight so that Henry won't get in trouble for defying orders/ignoring them? Would they force Henry to join the Templars with threats or would Henry mostly feel obligated to join them? Since the Templar Order isn't illegal in London, would other people know that Jekyll is a Templar, or would he keep it hidden from the public? Would his brothers help hide his identity?? SO many questions and I'm so sad I won't be able to discuss them with you :'c

(also can I just say I love the poetic differences between their clothing. Raphael is just wearing a waistcoat/basic clothes and he is a brute and more open, Kent is wearing more clothes/layering up and he is the "brains" out of the two of them, Jekyll is wearing the most layers and is almost trying to hide himself and I just... *chief's kiss*)

Last time on the Alfonse Route: Alfonse fixes everything.

Yukiya reveals that the zombies chased after Liz and the others when they ran off. Suspicious 🤔. Caesar and Yukiya ask about the dozens of other humans lying around, and Liz turns to talk to Alfonse about it, but it turns out he already dipped.

I’d dip too if Zeus was trying to convince me to join him in doing something. Speaking of Zeus, Zeus chases after Alfonse and Hiro chases after Zeus because Hiro is back to being Zeus’s lackey. They both conveniently forget about the investigation because they are Perfectly Trustworthy Prefects.

The remaining people: Liz, Elias, Yukiya, and Caesar prepare to move the people to safety. As they begin to move, Liz hears a little bell ringing.

Yeah, I get that too. It’s called tinnitus.

Seeing visions of some otome pretty boy is not a common side effect, though.

Hugo (oh yeah, Hugo’s his name but we don’t know that yet) spits out some stuff that feels like one of those YA-curious prophecies full of adjectives and Things In Capital Letters. He disappears as Liz wonders who he was and what happened.

Previews are hosted by Elias and Yukiya, where they discuss Zeus’s stupid attitude and give us the name of the next chapter: “The Black Robe Plague.” Man, this app loves predicting the quarantine and year of the plague, huh? First Aster’s covid mask get up, and now this.

It’s been a few days, and Liz and The Bois (which is the name I have given to Liz her her posse of pretty boys) go back to the ruins. Although this time it’s just Yukiya and Caesar, so maybe things will actually get done. They find no clues. Caesar wonders why the first infected were found in that particular spot. Liz thinks back to Hugo and tries to ask Yukiya and Caesar about him, but the words won’t come to her.

Yukiya reveals that Elias has been sick, and this to me reveals that this app is a cosmic joke, because of course I’m finally reviewing this route in the year 2 of the pandemic. According to a doctor, they don’t know the cause of the sickness, although I’m betting that it has something to do with Furry Zombie Disease.

The trio goes back to the courtyard. Yukiya peels off to go back to the dorms, and Caesar leaves to plan his lesson because apparently prefects still teach. After he leaves, Liz spots Alfonse and thinks about him for a really long time and how she doesn’t know that much about him. Remy somehow sneaks up behind her even though his entire outfit should be enough to give him disadvantage on stealth and informs us that Alfonse is a “Special Prefect” and reveals that he’s a legit researcher for the Ministry.

I guess prefect privilege is a Goldstein family thing.

honestly, dead poets society is one of my only personality traits anymore, i find myself drawing parallels to it constantly, for no reason but i love thinking about it. i’ve watched it so many times at this point, it’s,,, concerning. those tests always take me way less time than they give me, and i used to feel really awkward, i remember i took a bio one once, four hours they gave me, 45 minutes in, i was finished, and the moderator didn’t believe me. i aced it too, like the silly little neil kinnie i am. i’ve gotten used to the ‘worse’ side of being a neil kinnie, and honestly, now that my mum isn’t as controlling about everything as she used to be, it’s easier to deal with. i remember once, i’d gotten an 89 in algebra, and she threatened to pull me out of the fall show. that was a neil perry moment if i ever had one lol. the biggest thing these days is just imposter syndrome, imposter syndrome like oh you’re not hispanic enough, but also, you’re not queer enough, nonbinary enough, things like that. It’s exacerbated some days, but i try.

When Hori isn’t at school, she’s taking care of her brother, the cooking, and the cleaning. It’s not that her parents are out of the picture, they’re just rarely around. While Miyamura has lots of piercings and a few tattoos. When out of the spotlight of school, he is unafraid of himself.

Now, the main theme of Horimiya is moving on and reflecting + learning about yourself. In the case of Miyamura, we watch him grow from a nervous wreck with no friends into a young man with lots of friends and even a girlfriend. While Hori grows from the girl who acts polite and who’s perception of herself is moulded by those around grows into her own person standing up for herself and Miyamura. Together they talk with one another, settling one another’s insecurities and learning to trust each other. You can see why my expectations for love are so high /hj. There is this moment at the end of the show where Miyamura confronts the personification of who he once was and who he was ashamed to be. Throughout the show he pretends that, that part of him never existed. Its not until the finale where (Spoilers) he confronts it and accepts that as a part of him because until Miyamura does, he will never be able to move on. As someone who is at the same point as the characters are in their life, I have 4 weeks until I graduate high school. I think its because of this that I think I resonated with the characters so much, because I too am coming to terms with who I was, who I am, and who I might be after I leave.

So, I have 2 things I really love about Horimiya and one nit-pick.

Firstly, THIS IS THE FIRST ROMCOM ANIME NOT TO FUCK WITH MY FEELINGS!!! You know the anime I'm talking about, where the characters are in a constant state of will they wont they and the only thing you get is a kiss or maybe not even a kiss. No conformation about the future!! Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions I AM LOOKING AT YOU! By the fourth episode you already get a confession and after that the anime is about their relationship. Its so refreshing to watch an anime where climax isn’t just a half-baked confession left on a cliff-hanger.

Another thing I appreciate about the series is the humour. I genuinely found myself laughing many times at this. The jokes and bits land really well, and this is also to do with the chemistry among the characters. The relationships are built surprisingly well considering the series is only 13 episodes long.

Now for the nit-pick, and it isn’t about any of the characters I’ve brought up so far. So, one of Hori’s friends and eventually Miyamura’s friends is Tooru Ishikawa. Ishikawa in the beginning has a crush on Hori, which doesn’t go anywhere, he is then set up with Hori’s other friend, Yoshikawa. Now. Ishikawa is clearly bisexual or maybe even pansexual DUE TO THE MANY TIMES HE EXPRESSES HIS ATTRACTION TO BOYS AND GIRLS EQUALLY. Like bruh, when he first sees Miyamura’s tattoos, he describes Miyamura as handsome. In another episode, Yoshikawa gets Ishikawa to pretend to be her boyfriend to reject a guy’s confession, BUT WHEN ISHIKAWA SEES THE GUY, HE CALLS THE GUY **SEXY**. Frankly, the writers are cowards and I head cannon Ishikawa as Bi.

Aside from all that, I really enjoyed it. For the past 2 months it served as the show I can watch while I switch my brain off. On top of that, Horimiya just has a really satisfying end. Its not confirmed whether or not Hori and Miyamura live happily ever after (they fuckin better the show is named after their ship name ffs /s) or if they go their separate ways, but that is part of moving on. There is no guarantee how things will go, just gotta go with the flow. Anyway, go watch Horimiya. It’s very much worth it. 5/5. Until next time, I’ll catch ya later
