The Zeldas’ love lives? Lore grabby
Hello bae, this one has been sitting in the askbox for a while!
Lullaby - The queen regnant has no significant other and no public love life to speak of. She has her hands full ruling a modern kingdom and maintaining peace as much as she can. Rumors abound surrounding her and Time having involvement, and maybe once in their past they had a fling that neither would admit to. We were all young once.
Dusk - The austere second-in-command of the matriarchy has entertained very few suitors over the years, and the gossip rags will claim that she's too cold to maintain a meaningful relationship. Truth be told, Dusk has been seeing Midna in secret for a long, long time now. What started as close friendship in adolescence has blossomed into true love.
Sun - Need we even ask? She met Sky during Royal Guard training and hasn't looked back. He's the whole package: sweet, funny, handsome, and a 'safe' guy who would never try to abuse her power or take it from her. They're going to have so many kids.
Tetra - There's nothing serious going on in Tetra's love life right now. She's much too busy inventing new ways to screw around and piss off her sisters in the process, especially when it comes to creating "anonymous" social media and streaming accounts. She may or may not have become acquainted with another Link that we know through this venue.
Flora - Her heart belongs to her work! It's questionable whether all her time spent with Purah is truly innocent in nature, but that's only because of how late their nights tend to run. I hc HSH Flora as ace, personally.

Usagi Yojimtober Day 17 - Mask
Not gonna lie, in this one I just played with the colors... Actually, it doesn't look half bad!
Another one of Noriko. Say, wouldn't it be interesting a story about a demonic mask that gets energized by hate and in exchange gives their host great power to fulfill their desires??
Hmmm, just thoughts.

Maria Georgievna with her second husband, Pericles Ioannidis.
A great day in Amama’s [Danish for ‘Grandmother’] life was the restoration of her brother, King Constantine I, to the Greek throne in 1920. This is well described in her book. What is not mentioned is her boast that she would marry the first Greek she met. This turned out to be the commander of the Greek destroyer on which Amama, Nina, Xenia and some of Amama’s brothers returned to Greece. Her second husband, later an Admiral, was Pericles Ioannides. In the family he was known as “Perks,” because Nancy’s other grandmother, the widowed Mrs. William B Leeds (who had become Princess Anastasia of Greece by marrying Amama’s brother, Prince Christopher), had trouble remembering ‘Pericles.’ She confused it with ‘Hercules,’ so that it became “Percules.” Nobody liked Perks very much, although the Greek Royal Family went out of their way to be nice to him. - HSH Prince David Chavchavadze, grandson of Maria Georgievna, in the forward to her memoirs, A Romanov Diary.

Celta, my apologies if I’m overstepping “Tumblr protocol,” but here’s an excellent anon submission from another Tumblr blog that addresses the issue of who has authority (the Crown or Parliament?) to issue/remove UK royal and peerage titles. This was submitted to cat-with-the-emerald-tiara tumblr. (I don’t have an active tumblr…hope it’s ok to submit this to you this way…)
Anon Submission
A rebuttal to defence of Charles.
The matter of titles has been a very curious one to investigate. Parliament has repeatedly rejected all attempts to discuss the titles, nevermind doing anything about them whether at public request via petitions or private members bills. At the height of title stripping fervour by petitions, parliament famously requested legal council and paperwork on the matter.
Each time, they send out the same response: Royal titles are a matter for the monarch NOT parliament.
This goes against the accepted understanding that titles are the purview of parliament so what gives?
Constitutional / legal experts have began to discuss the matter. The most recent published opinion from such a scholar was illuminating.
Here is link to read for yourself:
https://middletemplar.org.uk/to-strip-or-not-to-strip-prince-harrys-titles/
To summarise his opinion:
ALL titles held by members of the royal family are the gift of the monarch and given by royal perogative without oversight of parliament, privy council, Prime Minister or UK government.
This includes birthright titles.
To be clear: HRH, Prince, Duke, Earl, Baron, Knight.
Since they are given without parliament, privy council, Prime Minister or UK government oversight, they are are NOT in the purview  of parliament, privy council, Prime Minister or UK government and therefore can’t be removed by those bodies. This explains parliament’s repeated response to all those petitions and private members’ bills.
The Scholar goes on to explain that ALL titles held by members of the royal family are granted by LP. Whether this is the famous 1917 LP or a more recent LP eg the one written to grant William and Edward their titles of Wales and Edinburgh.
Any title granted by LP can be removed by LP. No need to check with parliament.
He doesn’t mention it, but we have a historic example of HRH Princess Patricia of Connaught ( Queen Victoria’s granddaughter from one of her sons) who was stripped by LP in 1919.
Scholar explains removal by LP point by explaining a fundamental misunderstanding of the 1917 LP.
It famously sets out the criteria of who can hold the HRH/ Prince titles, but in doing so it also stripped many, many Princes of both UK and Germany of HRH/ HSH/ HH Princes titles that they already had.
If Queen Mary wasn’t already Queen and married to George V, she would have been stripped because her maiden title was HSH Princess Mary of Teck. Her claim to the UK throne came via her mother who was a first cousin to Queen Victoria. Under the new 1917 LP rules, Queen Mary had no right to Prince of the UK or any Highness style and would be stripped of it by the 1917 LP.
However, the scholar reiterates that the only thing Charles has no power to effect is the Line of Succession and the Counsellors of State because these have parliament, privy council, Prime Minister or UK government oversight. He can make suggestions as he fid to add Anne and Edward, but it is not in his purview to remove or block anyone from these 2 bodies. Only Parliament can do that.
Finally, anon mentions that Harold sued or threatened to sue Charles to get Prince titles for the Sussex children.
Without researching this, i can tell you categorically that this did not happen. Charles as Monarch is literally above the law. His royal perogative is both un-justiceable and un-reviewable as the scholar reminds us. In regular language that means Charles can not be sued. Nor can he be arrested. No subjected to the law of the land. There is no lawyer who would attempt to try because of this ironclad law. And no judge or court will take the case.
All lawyers and courts act on behalf of the Monarch and justice is carried out in his name so how can he sue himself?!
What is more likely to have happened is that the Sussexes grabbed the titles, and Charles allowed it to keep the peace which is a frequent excuse given by the Palace for their inaction when the Sussexes step over the line.
Notice that unlike William and Edward, there was no acknowledgement, BP announcement or publication in the London Gazette which are 3 required formal processes for new titles. Instead BP just updated website.
With their ingrained victimhood, it’s curious that the Sussexes didn’t dare grab or complain about their kids’ HRH styles. No one is at war with the kids so if they are Prince then they are also HRH, but the Sussexes only grabbed Prince.
In conclusion, Charles as monarch absolutely had the power to strip Harold completely to become plain Mr Henry Mountbatten-Windsor, but he chooses not to do it. Just like he allowed the Sussexes to grab Prince titles for their kids without objection when he knows that they can’t sue him if he withheld said titles.

Hi Nonny,
Thank you for sending this in.
This is the link to the post: https://the-cat-with-the-emerald-tiara-1.tumblr.com/post/749747114107600897/anon-submission
Cat’s blog is discussing the topic right now and there have been various posts on it, all of which are illuminating.
My understanding is that parliament can not remove royal titles. I believe they have said this when they rejected a petition to remove Harry’s titles.
I also think that parliament can remove normal peerage titles, but only for cases where it is specified in the law.
Harry’s Duke title is, I think, classed as a royal title and as such can only be removed by the King.
I appreciate the link to the scholar in the post above. I like to see what other people who know more than I do think about this.
The hard thing for me is to remember that there are two tiers of titles in the UK, the peerage (normal duke, earl, baron etc) and the royals (HRH, Prince, Princess but also royal Duke, royal Earl, royal Baron etc - titles with the normal names but which are held by royals.).

The Don Marcus Project - a costuming diary
At Vindheim's first Accademia della Spada, the tournament for Princess Octavia's champion was held. My brother white scarf, Master Marcus von Furth, WSA was chosen as HSH's personal champion to be sicced on her foes and to defend her good name and honor. Several years ago, when Marcus was chosen to be Deanna I's champion, she approached my wife to make him one new suit so he could better look the role. That she did, and in addition a second hand silk suit (seen below) we had bought hoping it would fit me did not, but it sure did fit our boy!
Tumblr media
(I'm still mad about that suit not fitting me, I'm OBSESSED)
This time, Marcus approached me about making 1 new suit and 2 extra doublets to help him better look the part and to accommodate his sick new gains! Ah, the joys of working out and eating sufficient protein. All your old stuff no longer fits right, and specifically in the difficult areas to let out and take in. Marcus's preferred style of doublet is almost more of a jerkin, with little sleeve puffs as seen in his old doublet and in Don Gabriel de la Cueva y Giron Duke of Albuquerque by Giovanni Battista Moroni (Moroni my beloved <3333) as seen below. Obviously, the heat of Ansteorra contributes to certain styling decisions and the removal of the full length doublet between the undershirt and the puff-sleeved doublet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The time had come for my second attempt to figure out the barra system and pattern drafting method featured in Matthew Gnagy's The Modern Maker. For those of you who haven't yet used it, it is genius and intuitive in how counterintuitive it can feel. Gnagy walks even an intermediate (begrudgingly) sewist through a historical pattern drafting method that relies on the tendency of the human body to be proportional in certain measurements to the bust, waist, hip, and height. It makes an incredibly good first draft which, for the doublet I'm working on myself concurrently, only took one pass. In defense of the mockup for Marcus, I was figuring it out as I went, okay?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used multiple colors of sharpies to keep my brain from melting as I went, starting with a fine pointed light pink as a "sketching" sharpie and frequently clarifying lines with an orange or blue sharpie. I did run into issues where my math failed me and had to insert extra fabric, as seen above, but who knew what chaos those simple insertions would portend....
Tumblr media
Behold, the frankendoublet. The result of me screwing up and miscalculating in some places, learning after the first try on that the wearer had gained 2 inches of bicep and almost 3 inches of chest and back muscle in the months since I'd last measured him, and in confirming his preference for a more modern, long-torsoed garment than the higher waistline seen in late period. I swear there was a method to this madness, but it gives a few of my apprentice siblings headaches looking at it and I don't blame them. I transferred the pattern to paper, and we were off to the races!
A quick interjection about the fabric choices: we are both in the middle of financial tight spots, so as much as I'd like to work with natural materials (that don't melt by campfires at the very least) we agreed to opt for 1 silvery-blue shot silk-look polyester doublet, 1 crimson shot silk-look polyester doublet, and 1 royal blue polycotton striped brocade full suit, all intended to be interchangable for a variety of outfits. I bought 2 yards for each of the doublets and 3 yards for the pants, rocking out at $40 flat for the self fabric. While not ideal for breathability and late night campfires, right now it's hard to beat costs like that. The silvery-blue can be seen for the remainder of this post as I chose to use it for the first doublet.
In one full day's work I have managed to chalk and cut out the full doublet from the self and the lining (a slate blue linen I pulled from stash) and used approximately 1.6 yards of each. Behold my selection of pattern weights, including a remote, a basket hilt, 3 bottles of paint, most of a block of wax, some drill blocks, sticky notes, and a can of coke I was putting off drinking so it could continue to serve as a pattern weight.
Tumblr media
By the end of day 1 of sewing I had assembled the full body and sleeves and begun pinning the collar. This is my first suit lined doublet so I am definitely taking things a little slower than usual. Thus far all the seams have been machine sewn aside from the finishing on the sleeve cuff. After some extra thought considering biceps and the volume of fabric, I patterned the bicep cuffs to have approximately 2 inches of excess cuff to hide within the seam to be easily let out if further size changes do occur. At this point I left the cuffs open for one more fitting before seaming them closed. By the end of the night I also finished the strip of waist eyelets, sewn on linen canvas provided by Asa inn blindi, so in the future pants can be pointed to this doublet. By this time, however, I was a little too dangerously sleepy to be trusted with a sewing machine so with the collar pinned I ended for the night.
Tumblr media
The next day saw the attaching of the collar, the reopening of the shoulder seam to "zhuzh" more of the length of the back into the shoulder to accommodate the natural volume of shoulder muscles and to make the collar fall correctly. The eyelet strip was first sewn to the seam allowance of the waist line, after which the seam allowance + eyelet strip was pressed to the body and stitched down securely. After that, some lovely hand dyed wool twill tape was donated by Asa in blinda to cover and protect the raw edges along the waist line.
Tumblr media
Rather than the strip of silk taffeta Gnagy recommends the tailor tacks in to the left side to reinforce the buttonholes, I ironed in a strip of fusible interfacing as reinforcement.
Tumblr media
Glamor shot of the interfacing being sewn in by hand. My hand seams are getting a wee bit straighter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In absence of the much sturdier taffeta Gnagy recommends for both trimming and reinforcement, I used scraps of a much lighter weight silvery-gray silk fished out of Asa's scraps, like a raccoon through a trash can. This does not provide the same structural benefit as the taffeta trimming, but it does introduce a little extra "pop" to the colors imho.
Then I tackled my first-ever hand sewn buttonholes. I opted for 3 strands of DMC 930 cotton embroidery floss on the final project after testing with buttonhole thread, all 6 strands, and 2 strands.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, some glamor shots of the completed garment. From left to right, the "secret ease" on the bicep meant to make adjustments for more muscle growth easier to accommodate, the collar lining sewn in, and the final garment waiting in my office to be handed to the recipient at Coronation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall, I think we're both very pleased with the results. Master Marcus retained his full (and simply absurd) range of motion on and off the field, the garment is machine washable, and it is a lovely color on him. The combined power of the ladies of our Princess's household has convinced him to let me raise the waistline on doublet 2 a whole two inches, which I am very excited about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What did I learn?
The barra method is not nearly as terrifying to manage as I think it is, as long as you trust the process
Multiple colors of sharpies are a game changer.
I'm actually faster at hand-sewing buttonholes than I am at machine sewing them, because I get so anxious about sewing them by machine.
Suit-lined garments are SO much easier to do seam finishing on, it's absolutely night and day.
I think I want to make an entire doublet of silk taffeta. This is a problem. I need money and confidence to do so.
What's next?
Update the 14th C English clothing powerpoint to what I currently use for classes
I am currently making an Elizabethan suit for Darien de Shameless with my apprentice sibling Asa in blinda, with aims of finishing it for Queens Champion
I am currently making an Elizabethan-ish suit for Viscount Micauley Morison ahead of Winter Crown (but cheating on the pants so he has one pair of breezy breeches). The construction is largely the same to this one, so if I make a post about it it probably won't include an entire construction diary. Just some glamor shots.
I am making Rus for Dona Halldora Hrafnsdottir, but I keep getting distracted on which Navershnik I want to finish first.
I am looking forward to making some new and improved Rus for myself and Centurion Runa Bjarki ahead of the Crown/Coronet season, with an eye towards moving us to more accurate pieces.
I need to do a Shift Weekend where I just churn out shifts, chemises, and rubakhas

HI HELLO Any directors commentary for Sky specifically in The Brave? Blorbo
HELL YEAH I LOVE THAT SLEEPY LITTLE BASTARD
When I started writing the HSH series, I didn't know a damn thing about Sky. I had no idea how to write him beyond his tendency to sleep. One of my friends mentioned that he was a knight, which I had no idea of at the time, and thus his unlikely association with Warriors and Wild was born.
In The Brave, Time picks Sky's brain a bit about his relationship with one of the princesses, and we already know that Sky is head-over-heels for Sun from previous mentions of her. They met while he was in the Guard--although Sky fails to mention in his stammering explanation that Sun was a Guard member, herself, which is a whole nother bit of narrative to address--and Sky completely writes off his own charm and likeability by saying that he 'must be lucky.'
Time continues to press the line of conversation along a vein that makes Sky uncomfortable:
“I’ve always found some of the rules of the Royal Guard to be a bit antiquated,” [Time] spoke as he crossed his study toward the window. Sky relaxed somewhat without Time’s eye on him. “The rule of discharge from the Guard for fraternization or initiating a relationship with one of the royal family dates back centuries, to a time of arranged marriages.” Sky’s palms were beginning to sweat. “That was also well before the Guard was expanded and divided into different sections, including the Airborne Unit.” Time parted the curtains to look out toward the horizon where Hyrule Castle was silhouetted against the afternoon sky. He didn’t need to be looking directly at Sky to keep him pinned to the spot. “They’ve become a bit more lenient over time, though, and I believe that rule is now limited to those Guard members who are a part of the royal family’s close personal detail[...] Members of the Loftwings don’t fit that description, do they.”
Someday, by the end of the story, one might read their exchange over again and realize that Time was going for a different angle than Sky (reasonably) took all this from, and that the man is truly abysmal at communication.
My favorite part of Sky's by far, and probably my favorite part in the entire Townhouse series, is the punch heard round the world:
Time didn’t get the chance to look up before a heavy fist connected with his jaw. The hit knocked him senseless for a few terrifying seconds. He sprawled on his back on the porch as shouting erupted from inside the house, and he lifted his arms to protect his face from a second and third strike. [...] “Not here,” Warriors repeated, hissing through his teeth. His voice was farther away now as he stumbled back across the porch.  Disoriented, Time opened his eye to see that Legend stood over him protectively, that Warriors still held his assailant by the arms— And that Sky probably would have kept going if his friends hadn’t intervened.
It's the first time I got to write HSH Sky being frightening (LMTCOY moments concerning Volga aside), and boy was it worth it. The fact that sweet-natured Sky felt enough anger to spit at Time will forever make me squeal.
Sky gets to flex some of his skills on the road to Vah Naboris alongside the other guard boys, and then again during the Hylian Waltz scene at the gala where he proves to be one of the more decisive and deadly of the boys. Now that I've played Skyward Sword (more than once, I really do love it), I just knew that Sky needed to be the one to do 'Impa' in.
And she lurched with a grunt, dropping her weapons as the glint of metal burst through her chest from behind. The sword was much stockier than the ceremonial sabres that the honor guard carried, its blade straight and true, and the cross-guard flared out like wings at the base of its purple hilt. It protected Sky’s white gloves from the blood that poured down the steel as Impa’s disguise started to melt away. The traditional grays and blues of her Sheikah suit melted to reveal the bright crimson and black, the uniform of those worshippers of the Calamity: the Yiga. Sky jerked his sword out of the imposter’s chest and let her crumple to the floor. “How late am I now?” he sneered, flicking blood off of the end of his sword.
Sky has plenty more moments to shine in the climax, too. From current draft iterations...
“Sky!!” Hyrule glanced up from where he worked with the Zora hooking up monitors and getting a second catheter in place. Sun stood just behind the ambulance, one hand on the door and the other gripping Sky's jacket. “You are coming!” she shouted at him, her voice just on the edge of panic.  “Sunny,” Sky’s voice was soft as he gently unwound her fingers from his lapel, “I have to stay here.” “You have to come!!” she cried, “What will I–” “I’m sorry.” Once he was able to coax her hand into his, he held it between his gloved hands. “I might not be in the Guard anymore, but I still have a job to do.” “So I’ll go with–” “You need to go with your sister.” Sky nodded toward the back of the ambulance. “We don’t know what’s about to happen. The two of you need to get out of here, get as far away as you can. Where you’ll be safe.” “Promise me you’ll be okay.” Sun took a step toward him, gripping Sky’s face in her hands, her voice wet. “Promise me.” Sky took her wrists, easing her hands down and away from his face.  And before she could open her mouth to argue, Sky leaned in to kiss her, impropriety be damned.  "... I'll see you when it's all over, sunshine."
To say nothing of when the fight takes to the sky over Castle Town.

ANYA DAZZLES IN THREE GORGEOUS DRESSES FOR LAST LEG OF SIMDIA TRIP
The Crown Princess (or should we stay HRH’s royal glam team) came prepared and definitely saved the best for last!
Her Royal Highness turned the last day of her Simdia tour into a fashion extravaganza, donning not one, not two, but three iconic looks!
Crown Princess Anya started her jam-packed day with a visit to the Simdia Central Temple, dubbed the holiest site in the country, where she spoke with the head priest, His Supreme Holiness Rushan Bhataj. The latter showed Her Royal Highness around the centuries-old temple. HSH also gave Crown Princess Anya a gift, by way of a special blessing.
Tumblr media
After her enlightening trip to the temple, The Crown Princess then rushed across town to attend a special program hosted by the Simdia Cultural Society (SCS). There, Her Royal Highness presented an award to the SCS in recognition of their contribution to the preservation of Brindleton-Simdia cultural and historical legacy. The SCS works closely with the Brindleton Royal Museum and the The Brindleton Historical Guild in preventing the illegal trade and sale of archaeological artefacts and other historical treasures in the black market.
Tumblr media
Finally, capping off her whirlwind tour, The Crown Princess attended a formal dinner in her honour, hosted by the Simdian President. The event was held at the Presidential Mansion, the official residence of Simdian Presidents for the past eight decades. Although the dinner was a private one, the Crown Princess’s arrival through the mansion’s iconic arched hallways was captured by photographers.
Of course, the super-glitzy event called for some super-glitzy bling. Although we missed out on tiaras this time around, The Crown Princess did make up for it by donning an impressive diamond drop necklace, which she paired with her mum’s diamond lace bracelet, and massive diamond stud earrings. The necklace, we’re told, is a Rennaux heirloom and can be transformed into a tiara. The necklace was inherited by the Crown Princess from her paternal grandfather, the late King Percival of Rennaux.
Tumblr media
Glittering jewels aside, the true stars of the day are the dresses that HRH wore. First, Anya impressed in a collared lace dress from luxury Simdian brand, House of Puri. The conservative frock was the perfect choice for a visit to the holy temple. The Crown Princess completed her look with a matching red headscarf and a garnet cabochon ring.
Meanwhile, her second dress for the day is of special significance. As a welcome gift, The Crown Princess was presented with her own traditional Simdian dress upon her arrival. The hand-made and hand-embroidered fuchsia and gold dress was made by artisans of Women of Simdia, a non-government organisation that provides livelihood for women from difficult backgrounds.
Tumblr media
Finally, The sparkling gold dress is yet another original Simdian design, again from House of Puri. The asymmetrical neckline is a nod to traditional Simdian dresses, while the embroidery is largely inspired by Simdian architecture.
The Crown Princess may be back in Brindleton shores, but we’re still hung up on her Simdian trip! Leave it to the Crown Princess to make a lasting impression! Her Royal Highness has proven yet again that she is an asset to the Crown, and is an incredibly effective diplomat, too!
Great job on the tour, Crown Princess Anya! Welcome home!
