I'll never not be so impressed by hinata's work ethic. his ability to practice receives on his own is already a sign of how hard he works bc he knows exactly how to practice even when he can't be at the gym or with others. but the fact that he's working so hard on receives in the first place simply for the reason that he isn't good at them and wants to improve? literally nobody has ever been this hard of a worker or this passionate about anything

Rambling thoughts/analyses on each of the stills bc I’m procrastinating:

1. This is episode 4, so we might already be at Aubrey hall at this point (or maybe not I don’t think Violet would decorate with pinks???) He looks kind of angry and very horny so maybe this dance is right before or after a first kiss? Definitely not the first time they’ve danced though, just from body language. Also she doesnt have a dance card again! What does it all meannnn?  Anyway I’m obsessed with the hands. Obsessed with his thumbs and her hair and how close his chest is to her back. The other hand looks like its hooking into her dress almost. Literally don’t know how just a picture can have that much tension. This picture is getting tattooed on my heart along with being pasted up on all my apartment walls.

2. Great possibilities with this one, especially since its episode 2. I assume theyre probably talking about Anthony’s courtship but I love the idea of this being connected to the Deadmund flashbacks. Maybe he taught each of them to fence? Maybe they’ll teach gregory and get emo that Deadmund couldn’t teach him? This shot really captures fun and nostalgia but maybe its just anthony huffing about miss sharma and taking it out on colin. 

3. This one is...interesting? Like the wigs and outfits but I am interested in the location. Is this Eloise’s room? Pen has a reticule and she wouldnt have that in her own home right? It gives bluestocking or professor-y vibes, and it looks like they’re talking about something important. I know there’s a LW plotline, but maybe this is about Eloise’s subplot! In the books she refuses marriage three times her first season so they could be discussing that, or maybe it’s about Eloise’s involvement in a social movement. From what we have seen about extras and new characters it seems like a possibility. There are literally so many things it could be I’ll just stop rambling.

4. From the first episode! My guess is they are discussing “rakes” at the beginning of the episode, have guests, or are talking with Mary. Maybe discussing attending the Danbury ball. Kate seems casual but Edwina is very attentive and upright. Also NEWTON IS JUST FUCKING HUGE JESUS CHRIST. No doubts he could knock someone into a body of water with all that weight on him. Other thoughts: Kate’s wig looks weird but fucking whatever I don’t care. Charitha looks gorgeous and so Edwina. Kate has a lot of that dark teal color in her wardrobe and is giving much older vibes. 

5. From episode three! CVD said something on twitter that made it seem like this was the Aubrey Hall study. Interested by their facial expressions. Daphne’s concerned and he looks weirdly chipper. Probably talking about matchmaking or Kate. Maybe she’s upset he doesn’t want a love match and is telling everyone, or saying  that Edwina and him won’t suit. Hopefully Daphne won’t find out about the premarital kiss. regardless she must be most heavily involved in the courtship, more than colin or benedict or even violet.

6. Episode...er I forget. This will be vague but I wonder what they’ll do with the queen this season? Obviously she’s still concerned with LW and maybe even the activism subplot that will be prevalent. Hopefully more with her and the king, bc she wont be invested in the romance like she was with Daphne and Simon. Whatever it is they’ll have to keep her on screen bc they have a whole show to promote about her soon!

7. Episode 1! I would think they’re lookin bejeweled for the debut in front of the queen? If not then for a ball, but that would mean they got their hands on some money. Either from the Featherington heir or maybe Pen used some whistledown $$$ like she did in the books. Anyway they lookin fly makes me wonder why Pen is still in her old yellow clothes in the still with Eloise. In other news if Mr finch and Phillipa dont get more screen time I’ll commit some netflix HQ arson. 

8. Final pic is from ep 4! (Same as the dancing one hmm). They’d probably be at Aubrey Hall for shooting at least, and it’s interesting that Jack is there but not Colin! Love that we’ll get Kate/Ben content and Kate’s jaunty Danbury-like cap is immaculate. She’s wearing that teal-ish color again, going along with Anthony’s dark blues. It seems like the show is going hard on them being competitive what with Pall Mall, horse racing/riding, and now shooting. We know Anthony is kinda bad at shooting and I’m sure this will just be anther silly opportunity for Kate to show him up but I’m not like, that mad at it. I don’t think she’d actually be comfortable killing a real animal though. Maybe they’ll be clay. Anyway, I love the Kate is a jock content bc we know she doesnt like to read lol. It kind of makes more sense than Eloise being randomly great with guns.

All in all I’m so excited looking at these stills! I think at least some of my predictions will end up being right, and whether some of the topics, subplots, romances, whatever are tackled well or poorly remains to be seen until it’s in front of our faces. In the meantime it feels good to be excited and be overly analytical as I often like to be!

Summary: After finally overcoming her heartbreak, Y/n finds new true love with Annie. When Mikasa finds out after she realized she was wrong about Eren, Y/n has already chosen Annie. Just like she chose Eren.

Season 4 Ep 1-8 and Manga Spoilers !!

It had been almost a year since you had last talked to Mikasa and Armin, since you already didn’t like talking to Eren. Yes, you stopped talking to Armin as well once you found out that he had lied to you about Mikasa and Eren’s relationship. You just couldn’t believe that one of your best friends who was always so sweet to you would lie about something like cheating. Truthfully, you didn’t want to believe it. The feeling of betrayal still rested inside of you despite getting over everything. But it wasn’t all just you that you had to help get over it all. 

You had decided to stay back from going back on the front lines after everything, not even wanting to see any of the trio’s faces while on the battlefield because you knew you would probably get eaten by a titan from lack of focus. You stayed back at the HQ and got to get to know other Scouts and even a few of the others from different regiments. 

During that time while you were stuck at the HQ, you had often visited Annie, despite her still being in her crystal that she had built around herself. You talked to her, not knowing if she could even hear you, but you didn’t care. You two had talked quite a bit while in the Cadet Corps before finding out she was the Female Titan, but even then you could care less because you saw who she really was, which was not what everyone made her out to be. You talked about everything that would happen, including your heartbreak that Mikasa had caused because you knew she wouldn’t reply and that you wouldn’t be judged for anything you would say. 

One day, you were sitting on the ground in front of Annie who was still stuck in the crystal, talking to her like usual when the unbelievable happened. 

“You know, Hitch is so annoying sometimes. Always asking me what I talk to you about.” You grumbled out, looking at the ground. You looked up and at the girl in front of you and let out a small sigh, “When will you ever come out of there, Annie?”

You got no response, as usual. You stood up from your spot and dusted off your pants, looking at Annie, “Well. Whenever you wanna stop being stuck in that crystal, I’ll be here.” You smiled slightly. 

You turned around and were about to start walking towards the door when you heard something crack. Turning your head around slowly, your eyes widened upon seeing the crystal beginning to crack open. “Oh shit, Oh shit, Oh shit.” You said quickly, looking around frantically. 

When the crystal fully broke apart, all you could do was stare in shock. Annie opened her eyes and glanced around before her eyes landed on you, “Y/n?” 

“Oh my god, you’re alive!” You exclaimed, rushing up to the girl. “Are you okay?” 

“Yes, I’m alive. And I’m fine.” Annie replied, taking a step forward and looking around. “Where are we?”

“Underneath the HQ, where you’ve been for the past 4 years.” You answered. 

“Oh.” That was all that left her mouth as she looked back at you. “You know, I heard everything you said.” 

You looked at her with even wider eyes than before as your jaw dropped, “What?!”

“This whole time I’ve heard everything.” The blonde girl said nonchalantly. “You should really get better friends.” 

“Gee, thanks. Like I don’t know that already.” You rolled your eyes, crossing your arms over your chest. 

“So, what’s going to happen to me now?” Annie asked you. 

“Well, I’ll probably have to ask Hi-” “Y/n times up- HOLY SHIT!” Hitch cut you off when she walked inside the room and saw Annie, looking at you both in shock. “You didn’t tell me she got out?!”

“I was about to if you wouldn’t have interrupted.” You sighed. 

You didn’t notice that Annie wasn’t even looking at Hitch, but instead was looking at you. But Hitch noticed and she looked between you two for a few seconds before nodding, “Right, I’ll leave you two to it for a bit. But at supper, I’ll have to come back because I’ll need to tell Commander Nile.” She smiled at you two, winking at you before walking out the door. 

You had no clue why Hitch let you and Annie talk for pretty much the rest of the day until supper, but you decided to not question it. But when you would go to visit Annie after she got out of the crystal, Hitch wouldn’t even let you ask her, she would just say to go in before you even opened your mouth, which you thought was also odd. 

When you decided to confront Hitch about the odd things she was doing, she blatantly told you that Annie had obviously liked you. 

“Y/n, are you that stupid?” Hitch asked you. “Obviously I’m doing it because Annie likes you!”

You stared at the girl in front of you with shock, “You’re joking.” 

“Oh my god, you are that stupid.” Hitch sighed, rubbing her two temples with her fingers. “Okay look. Obviously, I knew Annie when we were both starting in the Military Police before she did that crystal thing but she talked about you a lot, so I know she likes you. And after you coming here every day just to talk to someone who wouldn’t reply to you, I’d say you do as well.” 

“What?! I don’t like her!” You argued with the blonde. You didn’t want to admit it, but you had begun to feel something about Annie that wasn’t just friendly. But after what happened with Mikasa, you were scared that it was going to happen again, and you didn’t want to go through that much pain again.

“You clearly do.” Hitch rolled her eyes at you. She then grabbed your shoulders and looked you dead in the eyes. “Y/n, I can guess that you’re scared of going into a new relationship because of what happened with Mikasa, but Annie isn’t a bad person and we both know that. So I say to shoot your shot.” 

After that talk, you had realized that you did in fact have a crush on the titan shifter. So what did you do? 

You walked down the stairs that led to the dungeon where there were a few cells for the people the military had decided to keep locked up if they were a danger. You had decided that today would be the day that you would tell Annie what you felt, and you hoped that it wouldn’t end badly because you did not want to deal with another tragic heartbreak.

You held the keys in your hand since it didn’t take long to convince Hitch to help you get them once you explained to her why.

You made your way to the last cell where Annie was at and you saw her sitting on the worn-out mattress. You knocked your knuckles on one of the bars and the blonde looked up immediately before speaking, “Hello, Y/n.” 

“Hey, Annie.” You smiled a bit, unlocking the cell door with the keys in your hand. 

Annie noticed rather quickly that you were unlocking the door and she raised an eyebrow, looking at you, “What are you doing?”

You opened the door and walked inside the small cell, “Oh, well I may or may not have gotten Hitch’s help to get me these keys so I could actually talk to you without bars between us.” You chuckled lightly, trying to fight off the anxiety that was rushing through your body. 

“Oh.” That was all that came out of Annie’s mouth, and she looked back at the mattress. 

“You okay?” You asked, “You look out of it.” 

“I’m fine.” The blonde replied with no emotion evident in her voice. 

You looked at the girl quietly with confusion. She hasn’t acted like this since the first day she came out of the crystal, and you didn’t know what to do. You took a deep breath and walked towards her, stopping in front of the bed, “There’s a specific reason why I’m here, Annie. And I really don’t want to fuck up so can you please just look at me?” 

Annie complied and looked up and at you and she easily caught on that you were nervous. “You okay?” She asked you.

You nodded quickly, “Yeah, I’m okay. Anyways I need to tell you something.” 

The blonde nodded, already knowing what you were going to say just from how nervous you looked and how you spoke. “Okay.” 

“Okay so there may be a small possibility that uh well I guess I uhm have feelings for yo-” You were cut off by feeling a pair of lips smashed against your own. Your eyes widened at the sudden action but when Annie cupped your face with her hands you relaxed into her touch and kissed back.

Annie pulled away and rested her forehead against yours, “I have feelings for you too.”

You and Annie had then started dating from that moment on. With only Hitch knowing since you knew you would get a severe punishment for being with the Female Titan. You two would spend all your time with one another and make the most out of Annie being stuck on the dungeon, but it was nice since it was usually just you two in there. You would bring her all her meals along with your own so you both could eat together and she didn’t complain one bit. 

You walked down the hallways and made your way to where Hitch was standing in front of the door that led down to the dungeon. When Hitch turned her head and saw you she smiled, “Ah, Y/n! Coming back to see your girl, I assume?” 

“What else would I be doing?” You chuckled lightly. 

“Very true.” Hitch nodded with a laugh before opening the door and tossing you the keys to the cells, “Dungeon’s all yours.” 

“Thanks, Hitch.” You patted her shoulder as you walked by, making your way down the stairs. You walked to the last cell and smiled when you saw Annie, you unlocked the cell door and walked inside resulting in Annie looking up and smiling once she saw it was you. 

She got up off the bed and walked over to you, hugging you and putting her head in the crook of your neck, “Hi, love.” 

“What’s this for?” You asked with a chuckle, wrapping your arms around her slim waist. 

“I just missed you.” Annie mumbled into your neck, taking in your scent that she loved. 

Feeling her hot breath hit your neck made a shiver run down your back as you smiled still, “Awe my baby missed me?” 

A blush spread on Annie’s face as she just nodded, not wanting to show her flustered face. 

You let out another chuckle and pulled away from the hug, walking over to the small bed and laying down on it and holding your arms out wide for her. The girl smiled and laid down next to you, wrapping her arms around you and laying her head on your chest, and  tangling your legs. You ran your hand through her blonde hair softly, laying there in complete silence and peace. 

“Y/n?” Annie spoke quietly. 

“Yeah?” You replied, glancing down at her. 

“I love you.” She said to you. 

“I love you too, Annie.” You kissed her forehead.

...

Mikasa practically ran throughout the whole HQ trying to find you. She had searched everywhere and she didn’t know where else you could possibly be. She spotted Hitch and quickly rushed towards her.

“Hitch. Tell me where Y/n is.” Mikasa demanded, looking at the blonde girl with a look of worry and urgency.

Hitch’s eyes widened and she quickly shook her head, “I can’t tell you that, Mikasa.” 

Mikasa glared harshly at the girl and grabbed the collar of her shirt, pulling her towards herself, “Hitch. Tell me.”

“She’sinthedungeon!” Hitch said so fast it sounded like it was all one word. “But don’t get pissed about what you might see.” She added afterward. 

“The hell do you mean ‘don’t get pissed’?” Mikasa let go of Hitch but her glare remained.

“Just find out for yourself. I really don’t want to be the one to tell you.” Hitch said before walking away at a fast pace. 

Mikasa stared at Hitch walking away with confusion before opening the door to the stairs that would lead down to the dungeon. She made her way down the stairs and begun to walk past the cells, looking inside each one to find you. The raven-haired girl continued to walk until she ended up at the last cell and the sight she saw made her boil over the edge upon seeing you with Annie on the small bed, cuddling. “What. The. Fuck.” Mikasa spat out angrily. To say she was angry would be an understatement, she was beyond angry, she was fuming to see you with the one girl she thought would never break out of the crystal. Even worse, the enemy. 

You shot up when you heard Mikasa’s voice and Annie did the same, “What the fuck do you want, Ackermann?” The blonde snapped. 

“What the hell is this?” Mikasa gestured to you two. “I’m risking my life to take down the enemy and you’re what, dating one now?” She glared at you. 

“She is not an enemy.” You retorted. 

“You know damn well she is.” Mikasa snarled. 

“Says the one who’s on Eren’s side when he’s a psychopath and we all know it.” Annie got off the bed and walked towards Mikasa. “So what, you’re upset that your ex has found someone better than you?”

Mikasa opened her mouth to reply but you had gotten up and walked up to the cell bars beside Annie and you set your hand on her shoulder, speaking before the raven-haired girl could get the chance, “It’s fine, baby. Let me handle this, please.” 

The blonde girl let out a sigh but nodded anyway, “Fine.”

You looked back at Mikasa who was looking at you two with a mix of anger and what seemed to be a hint of sadness, “Look, Mikasa. I don’t know what you want, but don’t come in here and talk to me for the first time in almost a year and start shit with my girlfriend.” You told her. 

Mikasa looked at you with shock before looking down, “I know I messed up. But you have to understand, you were right about Eren. He...He started a war with the Marleyans. And Sasha is...she’s gone.” The girl said quietly.

Your eyes widened when you heard her words about Sasha and anger quickly rushed through you, “Sasha is dead? Let me guess, It was Eren’s fault. And I bet none of you did anything to stop it from happening.” You spat at her. “How could you let Sasha fucking die?!”

“Yes, it was Eren’s fault. He told us to come and help him, and we did. But some kids who are warrior candidates climbed aboard using our ODM gear and shot Sahsa. We tried to stop the bleeding...But more and more poured out as we tried to bandage her up. She died on the airship.” Mikasa’s tone didn’t change as it was still quiet and filled with sadness and regret. 

“Warrior candidates?” You questioned. “You mean you pissed off the best of the best and didn’t expect them to seek revenge?”

Mikasa shook her head slowly, “Everyone thought we had won, at least that battle.” She looked up and back at you, “But you have to listen to me, I know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have done any of the things that I did to you that hurt in the past, and I regret it. But you have to realize you’ll only get yourself killed if you’re with her.” 

You rolled your eyes at her words and shook your head, “No Mikasa, you have to realize that you chose Eren over me. You have to live with that decision. I’ve moved on.” 

“You fell for the enemy,” Mikasa argued. “You know it’s bound to happen that she’ll betray you.”

“Just like you betrayed me?” You shot back at her. 

Mikasa fell silent and looked back at the ground, not responding after that for a few moments. She looked back at you with tears in her eyes, “I’m sorry.”

“If you were really sorry you wouldn’t be telling me that Annie would hurt me like you did. Just leave us alone, Mikasa.” You sighed at the end. 

The girl looked between you and Annie, before nodding, “I’ll leave you alone if that’s what you want.” She took a step away from the cell bars before continuing, “I just want you to know that I really am sorry. And so is Armin.” A tear fell down her cheek and she quickly wiped it away with her hand before turning and walking away from the both of you. 

You wouldn’t know it, but Mikasa had just gotten her heart broken just like Eren did to her, only worse and she didn’t even know why. She thought she had moved on from you, but after seeing you with a new lover, it made her heart clench. She felt an immense amount of jealousy, but she knew that you weren’t hers anymore, and you never would be again.

Isu 1

hi im back :D well not rlly, i just got bored during my semester break and decided to write reviews and plot points of boboiboy glxy season 2 :D for future ref, anddd i need to be more productive at home uwu spoilers ahead

Here we go,

1. Adudu and probe still have their underground place lol, the whole time during season 1, i thought they are living in their spaceship

2. The gang still go to school, including Fang! i thought he doesnt live on earth anymore... im so glad we see him again with the gang :)))

3. Tapops now have a new underground hq UNDER TOK ABA KOKOTIAM gosh i can smell the upcoming chaos to tok aba's shop. Oh and the name is Tapops-U, probably a pun of PSU itself,, and tapops now is known as 'Pusat Pencuci Kapal Angkasa Suci' no im not translating that :P

4. Both Gopal and Tarung play kakimon, prob a pun on pokemon or digimon sksksk, gopal on lvl11, Tarung on lvl3

5. Bbb get a new watch because the old watch cannot handle third tier power, so it was modified. Hmmm so i guess one of the main goal for season 2 is to get third tier powers

5. The cendawa ethnic and Hang Kasa are still living on earth, Hang Kasa and Tok Aba are literally bestie, you cant tell me otherwise

6. Adudu tries to kidnap ochobot while the gang is in Tapops-U, luckily, their system warned them about the kidnapping. Oh and the gang is now in charge of sector B-801Y XDDD even the sector name wants to sound like bbb so they will get alert on powersphera in the sector.

7. The gang fought adudu yadayada and i want to point out, this is the first time hali does not shows up in first ep of bbb season

8. Adudu has become wayyy more competent due to the training with tok kasa, a good development i say

9.still the gang won, and adudu fled away USING OCHO POWER :o, so the plot twist is that adudu does not want to kidnap ocho but actuallyy just want to implant a chip that allows him to replicte ocho power, so he can teleport to everywhere the gang goes :o

imo: the first issue has quite a solid start by introducing many things that will be relevant in the plots later on. Not much to say since it is just starting, nice first episode :))

[WALKTHROUGH + REVIEW] Her Love in the Force: Ayumu Shinonome: S3 Love’s Battlefield + His PoV

Honestly, I think this route is one that I went into almost completely blind. With some other routes (particularly Ishigami’s and Soma’s), I kind of had expectations going in. But with this one, I basically had no idea what was going to happen.

Ayumu’s Love’s Battlefield is another example of how the quality of Her Love in the Force just keeps improving. I have been so impressed by every single route that’s come out this season in particular. It was heartwrenching and frustrating and some things are still unresolved, but I’m excited for the future. Ayumu’s routes have a knack of setting up the premise for the next part so well that I’m just left impatient for the second half of the season. 

With the walkthrough, please bear in mind that there is no good-happy ending meter in this route for some reason so I’m not sure if all answers will take you to the Happy Ending, but these are the answers I chose that brought me to the HE.

I don’t have much else to say in terms of expectations or even as an intro, so click on through to read my thoughts about this route and his PoV, character and relationship development, my analysis on Ayumu and his MC’s dynamic vs her dynamic with Tsugaru, and my screenshot of the GREATEST BACKGROUND that Voltage has ever gifted us. Here, I have basically tried to keep major plot details to a minimum but beware of minor spoilers. 

Reality:

Ayumu is the person who had maintained strict boundaries the whole time during her time in the academy, so naturally it makes sense that he’s the one who finds it the hardest to detach from these roles and the dynamics that it causes. This is expressed beautifully in his PoV, which I highly enjoyed and definitely recommend. I’ve been thinking that with this new season in particular, the PoVs don’t cover all the key moments in the MS, but rather they complement them with new scenes that really wonderfully paint a broader picture of these two sides to the relationships. Despite the fact that he doesn’t quite yet know how to break away from these roles, Ayumu’s relationship with his MC changes a lot outside of the Academy. He’s a lot more open about wanting to help her. His hints to her are so obvious that even she gets it. I never imagined we would ever hear our favourite sour patch kid Ayumu straight up say “I’d do whatever it is she wanted if only she’d say something to me”?! Three times over, he practically begs her to open up to him and let him help her, and she’s the one pulling away and keeping secrets this time. I understood why she did it but dear God, I felt so frustrated for Ayumu.

This route is full of super heartwarming scenes where you can feel just how much Ayumu cares about supporting his MC, to the point where he almost breaks rank just to set her up in a good position. Ayumu is someone who, before now, hadn’t yet challenged the bureaucracy of the National Police Agency (unlike Kaga and Soma) and barely even ever goes against the orders of his own boss Kaga, but this route places him in a position where he almost commits insubordination for his MC. I love that we first get to see him deal with things when he acts out in a frustrated way, and then again when he’s calmed down and had a think, and that leads to that scene in the park in episode 7, which is one of my favourite scenes in the whole route. His PoV is (naturally) more enjoyable for seeing his own anxieties and frustrations about the situation. This route reminded me again that Ayumu is totally a one-woman man, and when he falls in love, he falls so hard.

Something that I find interesting and different about this route is thinking about Ayumu’s position now that they are both working in the same division. Ayumu is someone who has spent two whole years watching his MC and setting up the chess board for her behind the scenes so she can make the most of her abilities and execute the perfect checkmate. But now that he doesn’t have the position or ability to set the board up for her, we get to see his frustration at wanting so desperately to help and yet being unable to do anything. At the academy, he had a position of authority as a special instructor. But at HQ, he’s just another lieutenant. Sure, he’s a genius and a specialist unlike anyone else, but ranking-wise, he’s in the same position as Goto or even Kurosawa. That’s something that you also feel with Goto’s route – the inability to affect change in the same way that they could within the setting of the academy. In this new context, Ayumu isn’t like Kaga or Ishigami, who can stand on their own against Tsugaru. Soma too has a higher rank so the issue of power and bureaucracy isn’t something that needs to be explored as much (and also he’s kind of a wild card even within Ishigami’s team and has always done his own thing, including a lot of independent investigations, which is why in his route the main dynamic between Team Tsugaru and Soma is Tsugaru getting Momo and MC to spy on Soma).

I saw a couple of comments about how awful Tsugaru is in this route and one on hand I do think that he is a lot more fun to the MC in other people’s routes (mostly Ishigami’s, then Goto’s, then Kaga’s), but on the other I think that if you hate him here, you’re gonna despise him in his own route. I’ve said it a couple times here and there, but I really feel like the version of Tsugaru in Ayumu’s route is the closest to his true personality. Tsugaru’s own profile calls him the worst boss and the most malicious person. Even Momo calls him 天邪鬼, basically calling him someone who messes with people just for shits and giggles (the term used for a demon who is deliberately contrarian). If you don’t like how little Tsugaru respects the MC in this route, oh boy you are gonna be in for a ride when you see how he treats her in his own. There’s a reason she comes to loathe that smile of his. Weirdly enough, in the Good End, the Tsugaru Squad dynamics seem to get to about the same level as they are in the other routes. There’s even a cute scene in the Good End where Momose actually kind of attempts to console the MC when Misato screams at her, and the Special Story from the Ending Set also shows them interacting in about the same way as they do in other LIs’ routes, with the three of them working as a team. I wish there was more sense of development in terms of building that team relationship (and I will expand on this later too).

I don’t know if any of you have watched Agents of SHIELD but this need-to-know basis (and feeling like there are clearance levels for information) thing gave me severe AoS vibes. At the same time, you do understand why an institution such as Public Safety would need to isolate information, for security purposes. It would be no good to have someone, especially a rash new detective, get caught and tortured and spill all the beans, right? And the thing is, this need-to-know thing is not new to Ayumu’s MC at all. You only have to look at his Sequel and Graduation routes to see her being left in the dark by Ayumu himself in two consecutive seasons. The big difference here is that whenever Ayumu acts, he always keeps her abilities and strengths in mind, with the plan always taking advantage of the things only she can do (such as having an eidetic memory). So she doesn’t need to follow instructions (although he always leaves her clues), but the plan is already designed to work with her usual attack patterns and abilities. With Tsugaru, however, they don’t know each other. She doesn’t know how Tsugaru thinks (nor does anyone except Momo), and while Tsugaru may know what she thinks, he probably sees her as volatile and unpredictable. If she were working under Ayumu in this case, he may have taken into account the fact that his MC might have tried to accost Misato’s assailers in the basement, but Tsugaru (rightfully, tbh) expects people to trust him and follow his orders since he always has a reason for doing the things he does, even when no one (except Momo) understands what they are. 

I’ve previously touched on my opinion that Soma is probably the closest OG character to Tsugaru, which I’ll expand on here too. Actually, let me rectify that statement: Tsugaru is probably the most similar to Soma and Kurosawa – I would say his character maybe sits in the middle of their personalities. The common factor here is not just their enigmaticness, but the way they keep a friendly mask on while they use people as tools without remorse while keeping their plans hidden, or only understood by a select few people who get it without words (which is actually similar to how Kaga does things too). This is why he needs a Momo 2.0, to be able to have a similar sense of foresight and understand why they need to enact certain plans. He needs more pawns like Momo, who allow themselves to be used because they understand the bigger picture, even if, on the surface, the steps towards justice seem unethical. And sometimes they really may be unethical, but this is Public Safety so what do you expect lol.

So even though it’s totally legitimate to complain about Tsugaru in this route, it was necessary for him to be like this in order to demonstrate the shifting dynamic between Ayumu/MC and MC/her new superior in a new context. It’s important to note that both Ayumu and Tsugaru start out by giving the MC seemingly inane errands to do. Because she’s gotten used to the idea that all the small, seemingly useless things that Ayumu makes her do are for her own developmental benefit, she expects the same of Tsugaru. But frankly, Tsugaru doesn’t have the time to do stuff like this. He’s a captain, she’s a working detective, and she needs to start being responsible for her own growth, so when she finally gets it into her head that he isn’t going out of his way for her, she becomes despondent first and then insistent on doing things her own way.

What then happens is an obvious lack of trust between senior/junior between Tsugaru and MC. It’s something that we see her gradually develop over her years at the academy, but she hasn’t yet learnt to rely and trust on people other than Shinonome when they aren’t tailoring everything behind the scenes for her benefit because this is what he has always done. It isn’t said explicitly but this is what he (and Kaga and Tsugaru [and Namba lol?]) are talking about in His PoV when they talk about smothering bunnies, especially when they are in a new family. Because Ayumu has always gone above and beyond to pave the way for her to follow her own sense of justice and still have everything work out, she hasn’t yet learnt to develop trust in other people’s senses of foresight and that acting independently according to her own sense of justice isn’t always the right thing to do, especially when the plan isn’t set up for her sake. Ayumu sets everything up for her because that’s the way he shows his care for her as his mentee and then girlfriend (and we LOVE that about him!), but Tsugaru has no reason to do so at all.

The MC in this route was different. To be honest, I got flashbacks to Kaga’s first season routes, especially when she was just gonna pack up and go back to Nagano. It’s quite a different reaction from Ishigami and Soma’s MCs, who just naturally hone in on work and basically become workaholics when faced with adversity and heartbreak. If Ishigami’s MC’s defining trait is being a workaholic, Goto’s is sweetness , Soma’s is actually being able to do her job well without messing up dependence, Kaga’s is insecurity, and Shinonome’s is how chipper she is. Obviously this is an extreme dilution of her character (and I could write a whole piece just on her characterisation) and she embodies all of those traits listed above and more. But more than anyone else, Ayumu’s MC is the most upbeat and stubbornly optimistic, so seeing a more insecure and pessimistic side of her definitely felt different and a bit odd. In the past, even when she’s een down, she continues to just do her job. The reason why she gave me Kaga S1 MC vibes is because of that insecurity and pessimism. Kaga’s MC is someone who was initially prone to giving up because her sense of morals and justice does not align with what Kaga is willing to do for Public Safety. You get a sense of that with Soma’s MC at the beginning as well, but Soma is gentle enough on the surface and just encouraging enough at the right moments that she doesn’t give up. The relationship between Kaga and his MC at the beginning is similar to the relationship between Tsugaru and Ayumu’s MC in this route, since Kaga is also someone who acts on his intuition and expects others to be able to understand him without a single explanation.

In this route, the MC starts to break away from Ayumu’s protection and act on her own. This is well and good, but what I would have liked to see is her starting to be able to work with her team and prove herself as someone who is compatible with them and not just capable as an independent agent. I loved the silly Eiji cameo (with his yamato nadeshiko tshirt, naturally) but I think that sense of development could have been built up a bit more had she been able to work with Momose. And no I am not just saying this because I love the concept of bodyguard Momo lol, but because then we would get to see her demonstrate her individual capabilities and slowly earn Momo’s trust and respect (and by proxy, Tsugaru’s, since Momo is his dog). We know she is more than capable in terms of technique. In the Happy Ending, Tsugaru even acknowledges that he knows that MC’s specialty is hacking without being traced, so I kind of wish that they had let MC prove her abilities individually but also learn how to work in a new team that does things a different way. Essentially, I want her to get to a point where she can adapt to working under difficult people in the same way that Kaga’s MC understands exactly what he needs even if he just says “file”, or know what his strategy is with one clue, or know what she needs to do when he says the word “jailer” a particular way even when he’s pretending to sell her off to a rich millionaire.

Personally, I think that in the Happy End scene where MC and Tsugaru are talking, what Tsugaru wanted to hear from MC was an apology not just for acting on her own but for not trusting him and just running off and doing her own thing. A big part of this route was about MC needing to prove the academy’s, Shinonome’s, and her own worth to Tsugaru and I don’t feel like this was necessarily successful, since the one thing she should have been able to demonstrate to earn Tsugaru’s acknowledgement is that she can adapt and make herself useful to him. Anyway, in the next part of the season, I really hope we get to see her begin to learn how to work in a new team. The unity between the three of them that we see in Goto’s route is incredible, and we even see the moments in Goto’s and Soma’s routes where Momo comes to respect her abilities. I think the best way to show off Ayumu’s effect on her life and value as an academy instructor would be to show off the techniques that he specifically taught her in order to help Team Tsugaru and prove her place on their squad as an IT specialist, instead of acting on her own. 

On a personal note, I also just really wanted more Momose. We’ve seen in other routes (particularly Soma’s) how kind he actually is and how much he cares. In Soma’s route, he even defies Tsugaru to support you. One of my favourite parts about the SS3 routes is seeing Momo gradually warm up to you. I’ve mentioned the little bit in the Good Ending, but it would have been nice if there were a few more subtle moments like that to show how the MC starts to prove herself to her team.

I don’t want to spoil too much about the plot, so I will say that HLITF always knows how to write a compelling mystery, and I enjoyed that they kept us in suspense even when MC cracked the case so as to preserve the element of surprise. I also enjoyed the last couple chapters as well, and what happens just when you think everything is sorted… Of all of the SS3 routes, Shinonome’s sets up the most clearly not only for his Episode 0, but also for the second half of the season.

I did find the pacing a bit odd and not as tight as Soma’s, Goto’s, or Kaga’s (Ishigami’s was……. Wild……) but it wasn’t too confusing to follow, although I would struggle if I had to draw out a timeline since there are so many small ups and downs that it’s hard to pinpoint a specific narrative structure with clearly defined acts.

Aside from that, there were so many little moments I loved. The dinosaur planetarium date, MC being thirsty for Ayumu so many times (what’s new), MOMOSE IN A VINTAGE ROARING TIGER SUKAJAN AND SUPREME T-SHIRT LIKE THE ABSOLUTE HYPEBEAST HE IS, Ayumu’s desperation during the climax, and that one line where she says “Ow! That hoppity hurts, kids!” Let me know what little details you most enjoyed about the route too!

Edit: Can’t believe I forgot to mention this but that ONE SCENE WHERE HE’S ALL EXHAUSTED LIKE “BUY.... ME.... NECTAR” AND SOMA IS JUST STANDING THERE LIKE “WHAT NECTAR DO YOU WANT ME TO BUY FOR YOU” LMALSDKFSLSFDK LIKE AYUMU JUST ACCIDENTALLY ASKED HIS SUPERIOR TO RUN A PEACH NECTAR ERRAND.

The CGs were stunning too – I have absolutely nothing bad to say about them. The kabedon CG and the Happy Ending CG are my favourites in particular.

The appearance of the RMD doctors is definitely… gratuitous lol but I didn’t mind it. I thought they would at least play a bigger role (with maybe Sen in paediatrics at least). I so desperately wanted MC to acknowledge that Sen seems really similar to Ayumu?! But the appearance of the RMD MC in Ayumu’s PoV was even more gratuitous and I HATED IT LOL!!

I wondered if the translation and coding of this route was maybe a bit of a rush job? Or at least affected by the work from home situation. Firstly, there was no good – happy ending meter, which in one sense was quite nice because I got to read the whole thing in one go and just pick the options I thought would work without worrying about the meter not going up. It reminded me of old school Voltage games. Secondly, in episode 6, there’s an error with the option selection during the CG scene. If you select the first option (“Move, please”), it actually gives you the dialogue for all three options one after the other. Thirdly, in the Happy Ending chapter, after the HE end card goes up, there’s an extra scene which is actually a few slides from the ending of the Good End (re: Naru). I’m not sure if this is an error or just needed to give the context to set up for the second half of the season. In his PoV, they also left in a card from the JP version, which is delightfully, painfully heartwrenching to read but was left untranslated.

In Kaga’s, Ishigami’s and Soma’s routes, my heart hurt for their MCs. But in this route, my heart ached the most for Ayumu. I honestly feel that Ayumu’s Love’s Battlefield gave him more character development than his MC, which… I don’t mind, actually. This route was delightfully frustrating to read, actually made me cry once (but not as much as Ishigami’s or Soma’s; the latter made me have to take a break to sob for a good while), and also really hyped me up for his Love’s Trial route (愛の試練編). The special story in the ending set is WONDERFUL and I would highly recommend getting it if you can (although I’m still mad that we need to purchase these stories instead of getting them as a bonus for unlocking both endings like it used to be in the standalone app). Finally, it gave us this absolute gem of a background. Even if the route had been complete trash, it would have all been okay because of this one background.

Loving the self-aware monster. I know Becky is problematique™, but I dig her, so, all kinds of fuck Chuck. He must die, and when he does this is the episode I’ll think about.

15:6 Golden Time - Badass protection spells. Dean in a robe and a hot dog pyjamas. Cas going by Clarence. Jogging Sam. Eileen! God I ship her and Sam, and I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you that I don’t ship him w anyone. Liking this ep a lot, every little side plot. Nice. And Eileen is back and I know it won’t last but like, that was awesome.

15:10 The Heroes’ Journey - Pretty neat intro. Monster on monster violence to the sound of Clair the Lune. Oh, and excellent casting of Garth’s kids. Regular people trouble... Awesome! Brilliant! This is the kind of meta storylines this show should deal in, exclusively. Oh my Garth! Explosives! Why isn’t every episode like this?

15:11 The Gamblers - Oh, is this another lucky coin episode? In that case yes please! More inconsequential bullshit kindly! Loving Sam staying in touch w Eileen. Hey guys, remember when you did the gambling thing w your years? And the rabbit’s foot? Good times. Will this be an equally good time? I hope so. A god! Excellent. ”Lady, I’m Tolstoy.” Yeah ya are, and i’m dead. The guys and Fortuna bashing god. And I'm equally delighted and distraught over the lore that god created man, man imagined gods and god decided to create the other gods to play into man’s ideas, or as a distraction.

15:13 Destiny’s Child - Omg the intro! Savage garden! I’m dead. Jack w the sandwich, why is that so funny? Cas is a gem this episode! ”’Sexually intimate’?” Lol. That’s what you get for trying to speak plainly, Cas! Hunter Corp. I’m dead, again. Keep the different Deans and Sams coming! I’m digging this! Why would they send ‘em to Rio? They could be your buffy-bots!

15:14 Last Holiday - Weird people popping up in the hq is awesome. And Dean’s immediate instinct to yell for Sam reminds me of me calling mr mess for everything! ”Shouldnt you be in the woods? Nymfing?” Monster radar? Oh, oh this is excellent. So mrs Butters is capable of murder when home and family are threatened, good for her. They better not kill her. I can accept them returning her to the wild. Yes! Did I call it or did I call it? Good Supernatural, good boy! And Dean making a cake for Jack! My heart.

15:3 The Rupture - Don’t call him god! His name is Sucky-Chucky. The shock of Cas! “You’ve been playing us the whole time!” This is how it works Cas, where have you been? They're always solving problems like Jason Mendoza. In-Dean-angry-voice: “Anytime I had a problem and I threw a Molotov cocktail, boom! Right away, I had a different problem.” Rowena! And Sam! No!

15:5 Proverbs 17:3 - Listen, spn, it’s your last season and if you like just wanna stop writing and casting women completely rn i won't stop you or hold it against you (also why are these ladies identical?). We’ve had a terrible run but lets just let bygones be bygones.

15:8 Our father, who aren’t in heaven - Gosh, having Eileen in the show is painful, I’m just constantly expecting a piano to fall on her head. *Ugh* Sucky-yucky-Chucky. But hey, at least everybody else looks better alongside him. Case and point: I never rly cared that much for Donatello, but it’s great to see him, and Michael’s back, sure is nice to see him too.

15:9 The trap - Ugh. Main plot shit and Sucky-yucky-fucking-Chucky. Fail. Although the flashforward to jan 6th 2021 was a hoot (but probably not meant like one, huh?) Dean’s monologue in purgatory though... gosh. This show would be nothing w/o Jensen Ackles. Omg the kiss! Nice. However, the show at this point has lost the ability to offer any sort of pleasure. Because like Sam, we know which way this will go. They used to have some hedonism working for the characters but now they don’t even have that.

15:20 Carry on - You know what? I’m not gonna make this post longer than it already is talking about the last episode of Supernatural, that has been done better by people w real grievances w the show. The kindest thing you can say about the finale is that it just as well could’ve been jammed into a few extra minutes added to the previous episode.

Mediocre mentions:

Drag me away (from you) - what is this ugly cell interface? The opposite of product placement. Yay! Retro episode! And they got the same actor to play Dean, neato! Dean admitting he had a hard time handling hunting, that always gets me. Woah! That scream effect without reverb was kinda startling. And the camera zooming in on the little porcelain clown even though Sam is nowhere n- oh shit. This was an interesting episode

Inherit the earth - Goooood I hate Chucky. Barefoot Sam is okay though. Digging this soundtrack too. Very un-Supernatural. Nice to meet ya Betty, but I wouldn’t pull up a chair if I were you. Always a fan of the shiteating grin. Jack, stripping god of his power, that’s so hot. And again: kudos to the soundtrack! The Youngbloods and then Jackson freakin’ Browne! And you know, it’s clichéd and kinda vacant, but also kinda nice. I’m cool with the story ending like this. Why did they have to do another one? Supernatural has never known when to quit, and this is the very real backside of this.

Those are some pretty pretty death effects on Jack in Despair/The Truth.

Things that makes you go hmm:

Which of the clowns is this supposed to be in Back and to the Future? Because the one from season 2 was a monster, right? So he would’ve gone to purgatory. You know what? I’m not an expert. I try to not pay too much attention ’cause it makes me funny in the head. But just, y’know, a general objection.

Here’s my deal w death as a looming threat in this show: it holds no weight. And even if it did it has been painted as the ultimate relief, unless you go to hell, these characters know for a fact that there’s a potentially blissful afterlife, so their attitude towards death should be, what? More pragmatic, I think. And it’s partly why Ackles is wasted on this show; That man can deliver a death monologue like it’s nobody’s business, too bad all those words have been rendered meaningless after 15 seasons of this shit!

Summing up:

So, I did not go into or leave this season happy, I knew how it would end and I was sad for everyone the show screwed over (more than it already had). Which really meant that I always had to force myself to watch another episode, knowing what was coming. But I had to see it through. I did, so I’ll give myself a pat on the back and get to work on my own personal selection of episodes that will henceforth represent spn to me. A selection I’ll enjoy all the way through. All in all I think the most frustrating thing about the show is how it insists on taking itself so freakin’ seriously. It has always done horror *and* humor best and this whole heaven and hell aspect has never sat right w me, and in any case they should’ve leaned more on “supernatural” narrative tropes (if you will) getting out of their plot problems, gambled some more and thought a bit more outside genre conventions *especially* in their main arcs, they opened up so many opportunities that they never even used. They could’ve been more like Buffy, or Doctor Who. That said, I’ll always get that spn-itch, and when I do, I’ll be happy to have seen all the episodes so I’ll know which ones to avoid.

One of the very first simblrs I ever followed was Kosmokhaos. They’ve been wowing me since their days at Cstyles, and I’ve been in love with their style & creativity. So. Yeah.

4) How would you describe your gameplay?

Derivative and sporadic. I'm almost always inspired by fandoms -- shows I watch, other games I play, and things I’ve read. I bounce around regularly, and my gameplay reflects that -- one week I’m doing this, and the next week I’m doing that. I might not return to something for months or even years. Who knows. Welcome to my crazy.

5) What made you want to create a simblr?

I was lurking Momosims’ blog for CC, and TSR was getting on my nerves. So I killed 2 birds with 1 stone -- I was able to follow Momo, and post my CC conversions without needing to follow some other site’s rules and whatnot.

6) What is your favorite Sim age?

Young adult, of course. The Sims is just not optimized for the younger & older ages, despite there being an entire expansion pack dedicated to them. It’s ridiculous.

I was drawn to The Sims 1 because I love interior decorating, and when I was younger I was obsessed with architecture & design. My favorite part of simming is building lots. I only create CC cuz I’m often frustrated by the lack of objects I want to see in my sims’ homes. And I effing HATE making CC.

9) What is your least favorite thing about the Sims?

I'm strongly influenced by fanciful genres, so I am most interested in things from different time periods, cultures, religions, etc. And that’s like the least represented theme in the community. I wish more simmers would get into fanciful gameplay, particularly more content creators. The more simmers who play that way, the more we can influence EA to stop making boring AF packs about the same ole boring generic predictable stuff.

10) What expansion pack are you hoping for next?

The first TS4 EP to even marginally interest me was Seasons, cuz they added more holiday stuff than TS3 did. And they had that Day of the Dead patch, which was COOL. I hope they’ll keep including more holidays and festivals like that - give the Sims some multiculturalism, EA, dang. This franchise is so Westerncentic Californiacentric it makes me wanna puke.

City Living is a step in the right direction - I love the boho Asian-ish thing they added -- too bad it was in a weak AF half-baked EP where the “city” was just distant terrain. It’s mess like that that makes me nervous to even ask for a more fanciful EP like Medieval times or Steampunk, cuz the game engine's so dang limited. There's no horses, cars, or any transportation -- so how can we have knights? Or a live-in dirigible? Or dragon riders? How can we have mermaids or Pirates of the Caribbean or Chinese junk ships when sims can’t even swim in the frikkin ocean? Expand on THAT, EA. Ugh!

It depends on the gameplay. I TRY not to make my sims look too pudding, but I don't use reshade and HQ mods and any of that fanciness, so.... :\

It’s just so effing gorgeous -- the misty mountains and the DRAGON cave and the colors and the culture and the foliage and just everything about it. World Adventures was freaking awesome.

16) Do you prefer small or large Sim houses?

Larger houses tend to not have as many routing issues, plus you can add more clutter in them! I’m a cc-holic, okay.

17) Do you prefer more modern or traditional Sim houses?

Traditional. Which is ironic, cuz one of my 2 main gameplays is my Nagron couple, and they live in a modern home in freaking Starlit Shores. :P

But I chose that cuz this is how I play TS3 the “straight” way (LOL!) -- I took my Spartacus sims out of their original medieval-ish save, and integrated them into a modern AU. So the fun for me is how I imagine these 73 BC characters would live in today‘s time. (Which is why I use Nagron for all the OC prompts & questionnaires I do, too).

18) What is your favorite Sims Challenge / Prompt?

The Simblreen photo challenge -- I always look forward to seeing what simmers come up with; Simblr turns into Halloween Town, and I love it.

I’m holding off on the follow-up until I have at least three weeks of data. If the current trend holds, overall it’s got to have at least a few people at HQ feeling pretty good right now. 

Except for one particular blip in the matrix. 

Back on 28 June, there were two announcements. The first happened at about 8am CST, when LEGO announced the Voltron84 set. Roughly seven hours later, an article dropped on Screenrant – I’m sure you know the one. 

Here’s what that did to google searches in the US, comparing across four terms: blue is ‘voltron’ (search term), red is ‘Voltron’ (topic, animated series), yellow is ‘Voltron: Legendary Defender’ (topic, television series), and green is ‘lego voltron’ (search term). The general pattern remains if I do a global view, but the US version is starker in showing the impact.

I caught it in real-time, and for a bit there, it was pretty wild. You can see where the green spikes; that’s when LEGO made the announcement. 

Explanation and a few other graphs behind the cut. 

The day S6 dropped, this above pattern kicked in, peaking nightly between 1am-3am CST, and bottoming out pretty consistently at 7am CST. This held steady until 28 June, in the middle, above. The three dots on the chart, right in the middle, is where the downward slope (after the abrupt peak thanks to Lego) met the new surge from the Screenrant article. 

The yellow line – the search term for VLD specifically – has remained below the two ‘voltron’ searches, but since S6′s drop, that distance remained steady. When that article dropped, the yellow line was the only one unaffected. For whatever reason, fewer people were searching VLD and more were searching ‘voltron’ in general. (Searches for ‘voltron shiro’ also skyrocketed for a few hours, too.)

Obviously, these are just searches; they don’t tell us why people used one term and not another. I tried a bunch of other terms to compare, but they were flatlines compared to the ones above. All we can really say from this particular dataset is that after that article on 28 June, the search activity for VLD now has a wider gap between it and the two ‘voltron’ search lines. 

Just to give a clearer picture of the impact on searches for VLD itself, specifically, here’s the mapped difference between the google rank for ‘voltron: legendary defender’ vs voltron as a term + voltron as a topic. 

The tallest peak there, just left of middle, is where voltron spiked as a result of the LEGO announcement. The height stays up, which is where the gap started to widen. From there on, we return to the regular pattern, but not quite. There is some catchup, but overall, the simple ‘voltron’ is outpacing searches for the show itself. 

(Here’s what’s strange, though. Despite the fact that the LEGO set is clearly Voltron84, almost all of the articles across various venues, continuing through to today, all blare that the set is associated with VLD, and use the series’ full name in their article titles. Yet that’s not what people are using to search.)

So let’s compare that to the other place people are going to run when they get news about a show: Wikipedia. This, by the way, is where comparison to previous seasons shows the timing of this article was known and planned. Every season has had a bump in traffic either two weeks after season broadcast or a day before. 

Still going according to plan: the tail was on the verge of dropping off, and the furor pushed things back up (probably a combination of LEGO, Screenrant, and a DenOfGeek article published later that afternoon). Notice that it didn’t last that long, but it also wasn’t a one-day thing. It broke the trend for two days, and thing dropped back to where I’d expect by this point in the tail. 

Now, here’s where it gets really strange. Here’s the scored popularity for the #voltron tag on twitter, over the past eight weeks. We’re two weeks out from the season drop, so the last two columns are where the interesting stuff is happening. There’s a flatline before the season drop, then a steady rise. As of that two-week anniversary, the predicted line was expected to top the previous all-time high, which is the dark gray bar at the top. 

Plus, the one-week trend as of the night of 27 June (the last time I’d checked it before the two-week article drop) was for the popularity to rise past the previous all-time high. The predicted monthly trend was a rise of about 18%, and the weekly trend had a rise of about 9%. 

Over the three hours after the Screenrant article dropped (and before DenOfGeek posted their article), I watched those numbers drop. Two to three percentage points each hour, until we reached the negatives… and kept going. It was rapid enough that the predicted line was set to fall by about 20 points. By the time it stabilized late that evening, the month trend is down to +9% and the weekly trend is -4%.  

For comparison, here’s what the #lance traffic looks like for the same time period.

For whatever reason, people just don’t tag Lance. Again, the gray bar at the top is the all-time high for this particular tag. Notice also that the two-week point didn’t really have much of an impact. It flattened the rise, slightly, but it hadn’t been much of a dramatic post-S6 rise, anyway.

Next, the trendlines for #keith. 

There’s a minor drop-off, echoing the drop in the #voltron tag. Prior to that point, though, #keith was rising fast enough that it was predicted to match the previous all-time high, or come very close. 

The same was true of the #shiro tag – match or exceed previous all-time popularity high – until that afternoon. The predicted drop was pretty severe, and I wish I hadn’t accidentally deleted the screencaps (sorry). But here’s what the #shiro tag stats look like, now that the dust has (somewhat) settled.

The week of S6′s broadcast, #shiro was at 24.3% popularity. By the end of the first week, the tag had climbed to 41.5%. Despite that rise, there was enough of a drop in the middle that when the week’s traffic is calculated into a single value, the result is a 8.5% drop to 33%. It’s got a +6% monthly trend, but a -9% weekly trend, down from its 27 June high of +14% for the month and about +8% for the week.. It took a hit even steeper than the #voltron tag.

There might be other explanations for this contrast in the various datasets, but there’s only one that seems to make sense to me: for several hours, VLD fans went silent on twitter. Almost completely silent. 

I did actually go and check twitter directly, not really sure I could believe the rapid fall on the trendlines. There was the announcement from Screenrant, and… that was about it. Not even the usual #voltron #art traffic. For about three hours, there were perhaps two tweets? Maybe three. It was eerie. 

Meanwhile, tumblr was blowing up, and when I put it all together, it seems to me that fans were in retreat – as in, pull back and discuss among avenues whose traffic I can’t see. Normally twitter is one of the first places to see rising buzz, ahead of almost anywhere else. The only conclusion I can draw is that the article pretty much cut off a lot of the fandom excitement at the knees. 

Judging from my ask box (and what others tell me of theirs), it wasn’t a pleasant buzz but an upset and confused one, too. It sure seems to me the stats above reflect that impression, and I can’t see that article as being proven positive by any numbers. What I see is a serious miscalculation on the part of marketing and the EPs for what information they wanted to drop, and when. 

More coming in a few days, once we’ve got third full week to compare. I know I didn’t get into any specifics on how the reaction to S6 (and this blip) might affect the story going forward, but I’ve got another response in the works that should cover that. Stay tuned.

Toonami Weekly Recap 10/20/2018

Attack On Titan Season 3 EP#09 - Ruler of the Walls: Erwin justifies his decision not to evacuate Orvud District due Abnormal Titans targeting populations and decide to instead lure the Reiss Titan into a trap, with the first line's cannonfire having little effect while Eren punishes himself for being too weak, just being influenced by events around him. The Reiss Titan eventually reaches the wall, its face and chest having eroded from crawling for miles on the ground. The Scouts then implement their own plan; Eren assuming Titan form and plunging several barrels of gunpowder into the Titan's gaping mouth to destroy its body while the others quickly destroy the fragment holding Rod before he regenerates. Historia succeeds in killing Rod, seeing some of his memories before the explosion throws her into the city street. Historia recovers from her fall and formally introduces herself to the gathered civilians as the true ruler of the walls. Back at the Reiss estate, his group having all died in the cave-in, a dying Kenny recalls events in his past before being found by Levi. While Levi notes Kenny's fatal injuries, the older man reveals to have acquired a syringe of Titan serum.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable EP#09 - Yukako Yamagishi Falls in Love, Part 2: While looking for a way to escape, Koichi manages to find a nearby payphone and uses Echoes' ability to trick Yukako into contacting Josuke, which clues him and Okuyasu in on their location. As Koichi attempts to survive Yukako's fury until Josuke arrives, Echoes suddenly evolves into a new form, Echoes Act 2, which can turn the sound effects it writes into real actions when touched. Yukako endures several counterattacks from Koichi's new Stand ability, but she is literally blown away onto a nearby cliff, which gives way underneath her. Just as Yukako falls towards some sharp rocks below, she is saved thanks to bouncy sound effects already placed their by Koichi, turning them into harmless springs. As Koichi reunites with Josuke and Okuyasu, Yukako gains an all-new admiration for Koichi, who had saved her despite everything she had done to him.

My Hero Academia EP#23 - Shoto Todoroki: Origin: Izuku and Todoroki begin their match. Izuku, while still trying to win, is attempting to get Todoroki to use his left side so they can both battle at their full power. As Todoroki fights on, more of his past is revealed through flashbacks. He remembers his mother saying it was okay to use his left side because he wanted to be a hero. So Izuku fights Todoroki who is using both sides. Cementoss and Midnight attempt to stop the match before the two deal their final attacks but to no avail. Izuku is thrown out of bounds and Todoroki moves on.

Black Clover EP#43 - Temple Battle Royale: Yami is forced to watch the fight with Gifso. He reveals that his warrior mages are ranked as Intermediate Magic Knights while most of the Bulls are Junior Magic Knights. Yami smugly watches as Asta, Luck, Magna and Gauche each defeat their opponents in seconds, shocking Gifso and reducing the mage team to 5. Gifso reveals his 3 strongest mages would rank as Senior Magic Knights and will surely win. Charmy is put to sleep by her opponents Lullaby Magic, reducing the Bulls team to 8. Magna and Luck team up against another mage. Asta also runs into a mage who fights using swords. The mage, named Kiato, reveals the High Priest is his grandfather and if he defeats Asta he will be allowed to leave the Temple and pursue his dream of becoming a famous dancer. Noelle runs into the Lullaby mage who turns out to be Kahano, whose dream of becoming an idol is also dependant on defeating the Bulls so her grandfather will allow her to leave. As she is Noelle’s friend she insists on fighting fairly. She tries to put Noelle to sleep with her lullaby, but Noelle protects herself with her water shield. As they fight Noelle’s attacks all miss. Kahano tells Noelle she has had perfect control of her magic all along, the only reason she keeps missing is because she unconsciously wants to avoid hurting people. Noelle realises this is true and decides she must fight to win. Asta struggles to match Kiato’s graceful sword style and changes his own style to match it. Vanessa defeats her opponent by trapping him in a web of magical string, leaving the mages with only 4 members to the Bulls 8. The mage facing Luck and Magna is revealed to be Gio, the High Priests Son. As he duels with Luck and Magna he is suddenly crushed beneath a powerful spell as Vetto the Despair arrives with 4 Midnight Sun mages to steal the magic stone.

Hunter x Hunter: The Chimera Ant Arc EP#116 - Revenge × And × Recovery: Face to face with Pitou, Gon can't hold back his rage and urges the Chimera Ant to fight him. Realizing that Pitou is willing to sacrifice itself to protect Komugi, Killua attempts to calm down his friend down with no success, but in the end, Gon gives one hour for Pitou to treat Komugi in exchange of accompanying him to meet Kite and help him recover his senses.

One-Punch Man EP#10 - Unparalleled Peril: The Ancient King of the Terror Lizard Clan appears and Tatsumaki is sent to deal with him. After a short quarrel, Tatsumaki sends a meteor from outer space to destroy the monster. At Bang's dojo, Bang tells Saitama and Genos, who were called there by Bang to learn some moves, about how his former best student, Garo, went wild and defeated all of his other top students. Suddenly, a Hero Association member comes and informs the heroes that an emergency has been declared and all S Class heroes have been called to a meeting. At the association, Saitama meets Atomic Samurai, an arrogant S Class hero, and the other S Class heroes, Puri-Puri Prisoner, Metal Bat, Tanktop Master, Flashy Flash, Watchdog Man, Superalloy Blackluster, Pig God, Drive Knight, Zombieman, King, Child Emperor, except for Metal Knight and Blast, who are absent. Sitch, a member of the associations, starts the meeting by telling the heroes that the emergency would be perilous and even with their skills, there is no guarantee of survival. Also, the great seer, Madame Shibabawa, had died while becoming agitated and choking on a cough pill because of a coughing fit while predicting the future. Sitch mentions that Shibabawa's predictions have always been 100% accurate, be it monster attacks or natural disasters. Before she died, she left a note. The note read "The Earth is in trouble", alarming the heroes. He warns the heroes to prepare for a fight in the next 6 months. Just after he says this, the HQ is attacked by the Skyfolk led by Sky King, who are quickly slain by Melzalgald, a member of an alien race called the Dark Matter Thieves. An alien spacecraft then proceeds to destroy City A, causing a large number of casualties as their alien invasion begins. Just as Melzalgald is about to kill some City A civilians, Iairon, a student of Atomic Samurai, arrives and engages him in battle. Saitama encounters the alien ship and advances towards it. Meanwhile, Melzalgald proves to be a challenge for Iaian and causes him to lose his left arm before Atomic Samurai intervenes, saving his student. Melzalgald regenerates and the heroes' attacks seem to cause no damage to him. Then, Metal Bat, Bang and Puri Puri Prisoner arrive. Puri Puri Prisoner enters Angel style and attacks Melzalgald. Elsewhere, the other S Class heroes discuss how to bring down the ship. As they offer differing views, Genos notes that Saitama has already entered the ship and slain a large number of the aliens. He comments that there is no evil that Saitama is unable to defeat. Saitama encounters Goribas, an alien, bragging how to defeat him. But is slain, as Saitama punches at everything and continues to destroy the ship, wondering where the boss might be. At the end, Boros is seen on his throne.

Samurai Jack EP#04 - Jack, the Woolies, and the Chritchellites: Jack helps free the Woolies from the tyrannical Chritchellites. In return, the leader of the Woolies bestows his wisdom upon Jack.

Samurai Jack EP#05 - Jack in Space: After accidentally exposing a colony of scientists seeking to escape Earth, Jack trains as an astronaut to protect them from Aku's robots.

Mob Psycho 100 will premiere on Toonami this Saturday at 11:30 PM.

Youjo Senki ep 11 and 12

Good ep. I'm honestly not sure what to say. So many things happening, I didn't even have time to take notes during the episode. Let's see how Tanya's fears play out in the next (and last) ep. Stays at 8/10.

Hahah, Tanya actually used 「怠惰」... well ... 「ですね～」:D. That's actually not a bad take-down on Strategic HQ. "We've achieved victory. Everybody rational will agree with that." breaks down as an argument once you see that most people are not rational at all (cf. the current state of the world -- I'm not saying the world would necessarily look better, bit it would certainly look different). Yeah ... well ... hate breeding hate breeding hate, right. Soooo? Season 2 I guess? Nice show, in the end. Oh yes. Tanya is evil. Sonzai X is even more evil tho. :D

A nice war anime, with an interesting hook at the beginning. I think I'm gonna watch season 2, when it comes out. Final verdict: 8/10.

Demi-chan wa Kataritai ep 12

Hikari-Tetsuo bonding time. Cute :). Hahaha, Himari is best. She's just concerned, and with a sister like Hikari, oh dear would I be concerned as well. Gaah, Sakie! Ask him out! Do iiiit. Wow! Ugaki-san actually sleeps? I had expected him to be in front of the office doors smoking, honestly. Yass. Tetsuo to the rescue. Wait. Why did they ask him to be the supervising teacher?? Why not Sakie? Oh, they did. Good riddance. Ahahaha! So it's like that? Oh Tetsuo. Sakie goes for it! Hahaha. Tetsuo! Your holding back backfires! Sakie. Casually flashing people. Didn't see that coming :D. Yukki overhearing her. OMG. They've really gone all out for this last ep. Sakie being subtle and Tetsuo being all like 'Yes, I am aware'. Woah. I mean you could see it even in the lab coat, but Tetsuo is fucking ripped. He seems to be having an aphrodisiac effect on Sakie. Well, and Macchi. :D I can't do that at all. Just opening my eyes underwater. Makes me tear up right now, just thinking about it. Yeah, well, it was worth a try, Hikari!

Well, that's a wrap. Nice show, in all. No theme, basically, just honest, good ol' slice of life fun. Feels like the ending was a little rushed, and it doesn't really feel done. There's no closure on basically any of the sub-plots yet. I would watch a season 2, but I don't know how well the show did, or if that's even a possibility. The character's did grow a bunch, but they're not yet finished, it feels like. A resolution to the Sakie-Tetsuo relationship would be nice. It finishing with the girls graduating from high school and taking on the world would be nice. Pacing usually felt adequate and not too rushed, but I'd have like to have seen more done with the format. But maybe I just gotta read the manga for that. Final verdict: 7/10. 

Little Witch Academia ep 12

Sunriiise. Hahaha. Okay. That is bad luck at drawing lots. Really. There's a festival chair? How much more "slice of life school festival episode" could they've made this? Diana is best. Ah, so that's the actual hook for the episode. The pacing in this show really is ... questionable. Poor Diana, getting accosted at all times. Please, Akko, be the bigger girl here. Don't use it against her. Okay. No. That's it for me. I'd probably have finished a 12 episode show. But this bores me so much. This is hands down the worst animu of the season in terms of plot advancement and character development. This loses against fucking GabrielDropout!

Final verdict: dropped at ep 12 with an overall score of 4/10.

GabrielDropout ep 12

She came. She saw. She was driven off by a dog. And Gabu-chan persevered.

This was a fun little show. The characters weren't as well developed as in Demi-chan, but that's probably purely owed to the format, with Gabriel Dropout being mostly a gag-a-scene show. I enjoyed it, but there's not really anything deeper going on here. One of the reasons I like it is certainly that you don't have to think while watching. The reason why it can't really rise above its station is that you don't really have to think while watching. Final verdict: 6/10.

Onihei ep 12

All ded. Guy loses will to live. Stumbles upon another suicidal person. So either they will all become a happy little family in the end -- or die together, just like they originally intended.Baaackstorrry. At least the bad guy is named Matahachi. Damn, guy, that's not how you transport a prisoner ... yes. That's why. "I've been in jail for 6 months, and all I can show for it is this facial hair." A thief with ... kind of ... honor? Because, honestly, he could've just told Koyanagi like they originally agreed upon. Stays at 6/10.

Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon ep 12

Omuraisu is great. Good ingredients are expensive :/. What else is new. Kobayashi-Tooru-backstory. Hrhrhr, Kobayashi is as much an infidel as Tooru, who's literally fought Gods. Drunk Kobayashi is best Kobayashi. Also, who is she kidding, she literally asked Tooru if she could feel her up. Aaaand another backstory. Tooru really has a penchant for picking up Maid-loving girls, huh. Another sweet, slightly wistful episode, right before the grand finale (I'm not crying, you're crying and what if I am, huh?!). Stays at 9/10.

Kuzu no Honkai ep 12

I swear, this mangaka got the biggest 'people-drinking-liquids-from-PET-bottles' fetish I've ever seen. Now let's see what they make of Mugi and Hanabi. Oh my god, guy, don't just ask the girl who tearfully confessed to you and whom you then rejected to go to your wedding. I mean, Hanabi can take it, sure, but, c'mooon. You at least think of her as an innocent little sister. Nice joke there with male students A and B :D. Very 4th wall. Thank. Aaahahaha, well, if that ship's endgame, I'm okay with it. (Not really, but Hana's reaction, I mean c'mon.) Ecchan's back! Short hair now! I could also live with that ship. Not gonna happen. But it would totally be okay. At least they can be friends again! Akane seems kind of strange now. Has she really been declawed this thoroughly? Abd now, the final pairing. Errrm, wait, wat. You lost me there for a bit. How many timelines intersected in that scene of voiceover exposition? Soooo!!! They really did it! They ended it without the, in many other stories obvious, conclusion! I like it.

This was a fun show as well. It had its ups and downs, and as I said by, like, episode 2, it would be made or unmade by its ending. Surprisingly, this didn't turn out to be quite correct. The ending was neither phenomenal nor abysmal, but probably a 7/10 in terms of what could be expected. But it not being absolutely fantastic actually didn't take away too much from the show. I'm very happy to have watched it, but it didn't turn out to be quite the AotS contender that I thought it could've become. Overall, a good, solid show with love and intrigue and still one of my favorite characters this season, besides Kobayashi. Final verdict: 7/10.

This Star Wars Day is kind of special because it's arriving just before the next film to hit the big screen, the young Han Solo tale Solo: A Star Wars Story (in theaters May 25) with Alden Ehrenreich as the cosmic smuggler and Donald Glover as the smooth gambler Lando Calrissian. (Tickets are on sale now at Fandango.com, Drafthouse.com and more theater chains.) The franchise has remained beloved to generations of fans since George Lucas' original 1977 Star Wars, which means more than 40 years of various ways to get your "May the 4th" on. And we do suggest you watch the original 1983 edition of Return of the Jedi, rather than the later special edition that took out the Ewoks' celebration song and inserted Hayden Christensen (aka prequel Anakin "Darth Vader" Skywalker) into the Dead Jedi Club at the end.
