I think the similarity between Malleus and Grim might be because Grim is Malenoa's phantom.

To preface, I'm assuming Malenoa overblotted because of the scene in Sleeping Beauty where she snapped at seeing Diablo turned into stone? 

Additionally, both movies of Maleficent involved a "death scene." In Maleficent 1, it was Diaval being chained down by King Stefan's soldiers/Maleficent was about to be slain by King Stefan and in Maleficent 2, its Maleficent actually died from protecting Aurora.

Both scenes eventually had a "saving from their impending death." But, since this is twisted wonderland, the Disney movie is more inspired by the Original Animation where Maleficent and her goons actually lost to the humans.

Diablo (Maleficent's birb) in TWST, is Levan right now and in recent updates its said that the latest news about Levan is that he's missing and there's rumors about him fighting Knight of Dawn; the strongest of the Silver Owls.

Right now, the Silver Owls are ambushing the Land of Briar castle where Malenoa is. 

If it goes like this??? I think they kept Levan as hostage to officially take the land or something—

All I know is that someone must've harmed Levan because in the movie, Maleficent only attacked the kingdom or used all her powers to kill Prince Philip upon discovering the fairies turned Diablo into a stone bcs they want Prince Philip to escape and save Aurora.

From the words of Lilia about Malenoa, Malenoa is undefeatable– so I really don't believe she was overpowered by strength, but rather she was caught off guard by emotional turmoil (or for this theory, consumed by her own overblot).

Going back to Grim might be Malenoa's phantom… Grim is always assumed to be a phantom labeled as a direbeast for now... Its heavily theorized like that because of how, in his feral state, he devours blotted magic stones.

And, blotted magic stones are what supplies a phantom to live because they carry the magic power of a mage.

But phantoms can't be born without an overblot first... so who's mage is he a phantom of?

We know that the phantom's strength is a reflection of a mage capabilities when they were at the right state–

Malenoa was a really powerful mage so if we consider the destruction of NRC (and possibly the Sage Island? The entire sky was black out too) that we've seen in the prologue as the power of Phantom Grim, then Phantom Grim must originate from a formidable mage like Malenoa, because he easily beaten all mages on the island effortlessly and even plunged the surroundings in darkness.

If Grim is a phantom then he's a powerful one because he's ancient (assumed from his diagnosed curse from STYX), he has the intelligence of a human, and has immense destruction power (if he's not sane as shown with how he easily destroyed his cage room at STYX).

Also even if Overblot Grim is composed of different parts from the main 7 phantoms, his form is majorly resembling a dragon. And, Malenoa's a dragon.

On top of it, the story kind of implies that Malleus and Grim has similarities with each other.

I read a theory that Grim must be an extension of Malleus, it was a bit of a crack theory but rather than Malleus himself, I would like to believe Grim is Malenoa's phantom. That's why Malleus and him are similar because they're??? both related from Malenoa???)

■ Grim Overblot is at overpowered HP, like Overblot Malleus.  No other overblot is like that. If Grim is a reflection of (Overblot) Malenoa's power, then it makes sense for Malleus and Grim to only have exclusive overpowered HP.

■ Most of Malleus' magic derived from his mother (thorns, lightning, and green fire). Both Grim and Malleus' cards shares their elements. The comparison is on this post.

■ Both Grim and Malleus has ancient magic. Papa Shroud said that Malleus' magical barrier looks like something out of a illustration book.

STYX also said that Overblot Malleus' magic which is territorial control; where inside his magical barrier time has stopped and all life forms has fallen to sleep is an ancient magic.

So, if theres any mage from past who can do what Malleus can do, then Malenoa could've summoned a magical barrier like that once she overblotted as well.

And, you know, who's an ancient being except for Lilia? Grim.

We don't know his age but its highly likely he's older than we know because of his ancient curse. Which is proof that he must've been existed as Malenoa's phantom because he's already existing from a long time ago.

■ Both Grim and Malleus are big eaters. A little trivia about Malleus is that he's a big eater (from the Scalding Sands event), maybe even more than Sebek because it just makes sense as he is a dragon.

But, his big apetite is displayed at a classy manner unlike of Grim who just messily devours.

We can assume that all dragon faes are just like that, so Malenoa could've possibly been a big eater as well. If she's related to Grim (aka being her overblot form's phantom), then Grim's voraciousness for food, which is depicted as a comedic relief for now, can be a reference that his power/mannerism is from Malenoa.

■ Malenoa is commanding like Grim. Grim refers to us as "henchmen" and at first, thinks of us as just mere servant to gratify his demands (but he slowly got attached to Yuu in the end).

So.... You know, who else has henchmen??? Malenoa as the leading commander of Land Briar's military and her henchmen aka Lilia and his fellow soldiers.

And... She seems to order around Lilia as she pleases like how Grim orders Yuu around lol

■ Grim and Malleus' overblot forms has the same lacing patters on their faces. Their main design is very similar. And their pattern both adorns their forehead.

■ Grim constantly says and wishes to be the greatest mage in all of TWST. If Malenoa is alive right now, then she'll be the most powerful.

Plus, Grim's pride for himself and the way he easily talks down others despite only having a normal amount of magic might also come from this inherent personality of Draconia's "being better than everyone" (and they literally are).

Malleus is even shown to talk down at others as well if he's triggered the wrong way, he doesn't hesitate to flaunt his strength if needed. Although unlike Grim, he has self control because of Lilia's discipline that "he musn't use his power carelessly." (what Lilia said to little Malleus after the freezing castle fiasco).

■ Malleus is referred as monstrous or similar to a monster because of his strength and no one approaches him because he might burn you because he's a dragon (from what the students has been whispering about him). Grim is a literal monster who'll blow a fire on you, he's not feared like Malleus but no one really wanted to take him in NRC except for Yuu.

Their similarity is that its only Yuu that they care for (outside of Malleus' family ofc) and Yuu is the only one who sees them for who they are.

Additonal Info of Why I think Malenoa Overblotted

• Papa Shroud saying that Malleus magic happens only in fiction can also imply Malenoa's overblot.

Because her death/overblot happened a long time ago, then its treated as a fairytale/fictional because its just "unrealistic."

We know that TWST History is unreliable. In one of the vignettes (of Lilia i think??) Lilia talked to Trey about giant magical pens and how its probably so long ago that the present people thinks its fictional or a myth now. (Altho we're not sure of its legitimately what happened since Lilia was telling it to make Trey, the listener, be confused whether it is real or not.)

The History voicelines has said about fairytales being the real... I can't remember much except from this voiceline from Rook where he said "Do you think fairy tales are fiction?"

Additionally, TWST is also a world where fairytales of Disney Villains is regarded as historical facts— I'm saying the Great Sevens stories in TWST is like a fairytale or ficitional because we know their true personality/their true story in their respective Disney films). But, their twisted version is regarded as factual despite it being so wrong from their actual story. (Ex. Frollo of the City of Flowers was a hero but in Hunchback of Notre Dame, he was not that lol)

• Every overblot we had must be from a student who perfectly embodies one of the Great Seven. Malenoa was the first character outside of the main characters to have a great influence from Maleficent. Which strengthes the prospect of her overblotting. She's even more resembling to Maleficent than Malleus himself.

She's referred to as snapping her goons with thunder like Maleficent, she's the most evil princess, and she seems to only have affection for Levan which parallels to Maleficent only being caring to Diablo and no one else.

• Grim doesn't remember his past. If Malenoa overblotted like Malleus and it mirrors with the magical barrier he's using right now, then it makes sense for Malenoa's cause of death and the Silver Owls to be unknown up until now.

Because her death happened inside that magical barrier where its time and reality operated differently.

• Plus, isn't it strange how Lilia immediately knew Leona was overblotting? He quickly sensed the negative energy almost as if its familiar.

It could also just be because he's knowledgeable with Magic itself but I'm putting this here as proof that Malenoa overblotted because Lilia has experienced it during his General days and thus why its familiar.

Also because... The way he yelled at Malleus before he overblotted feels like he's stopping him because he's really aware of what happens when a mage overblots... 😭

Undertale Tarot Cards Review

These are from Fangamer.

So I’m only doing the Dreemurrs for now. Maybe more later.

Frisk:

So it’s Frisk. We see the knife and locket, then the stick and band aid.

I’m guessing this is either to tie the beginning to the end or to tie Chara and Frisk together (narra Chara theory go brrrr)

Toriel:

A fireball to reference her magic, of course. The shield because she’s your guardian (or it’s just to reference the Deltarune she has on her robe.)

A snail because snail pie, and a pie because, well, your momma cooks you good pies.

Flowey; Asriel

So Flowey and Asriel are my favorite of these. We see a pie and a locket to tie Asriel back to his best friend and his momma. But it’s also sad, because we see Asriel over Flowey sort of “falling into” his new form. We also see a hollow/clear soul, representing his lack of soul. I don’t think I need to explain the flower petals.

Meanwhile, Asriel’s card is, well…. He’s such a dork, haha. He has a childishly drawn meteor, heart, flower, and star to show that, despite his form and immense power, he’s still just a little kid playing pretend. The flower calls back to his mindset and who he is- Flowey.

There’s a lack of soul where Asriel has a cracked one in the bottom middle for Flowey’s card. Really rubbing in his soullessness. Artist really went after the poor little guy ):

Omega Flowey is just showing off his possession of six souls, with the torment of one more. Lots of flowers (and small Flowey faces) to show this is *his* world. He controls everything now. It also has a unique crown to show he’s the prince. Neat.

Hyper’s card has four save points, again representing the control he has, but also that you can SAVE something else. A rainbow save star over the center heart because it looks pretty. Also all those rainbow attacks.

Chara:

Chara is scratched out on the name here. From an out of game standpoint, it’s because *you’re* supposed to name Chara whatever you want. From a thematic standpoint, this might be because Chara is sort of erasing the past memories of her family and all that.

ATK, EXP, LV, and HP are here because, well, that ending speech. Also standard RPG terms. Chara being edgy and showing what a gamer she is.

Also the soul is being stolen.

This one’s just straight up creepy.

Asgore:

This one’s interesting.

The red soul in the middle, showing his goal, but on one side, the “frame” is broken. Maybe to show he is broken inside, he isn’t a fan of what he’s doing here. He wants to not do this. This is his breaking of the mercy button. He doesn’t want the mercy he knows Frisk will give.

The other symbols also represent the acts. A sword for attack, a sound wave to represent ACT, and a little bag to represent items. Also a Deltarune Angel at the top. Neato! This is on all of the cards, but I just figured I’d mention it on Asgore’s.

Theory: Ralsei is a Titan (or at least a Neo darkner)

Hey so. this theory and analysis has been long over due, I'm so sorry but I kept forgetting and getting sidetracked with school work.

Okay so many people have noticed how weird Ralsei is, he's honestly a whole can of worms on his own without considering every theory being made about him.

But I have had this particular theory in my for like almost a whole fucking year, so let me propose a weirder one: Ralsei is a titan.

What do I mean by that? Honestly, I kind of only half way know what that means, since this is more of crack theory but here are my points

We all know that Ralsei looks different between the first two chapters. But a few people have pointed out that Ralsei's transformation from chapter 1 to chapter 2 is rather strange, as the two look very different. Toby has said that Ralsei looking different was a recent choice made during development.

He first starts out as this black, fluffy figure in a ratty looking robe, with his hands mostly obscured, and a hat. but after he takes off the hat, he suddenly looks very different: white fur, and more boss monster like. in chapter 2 we see his robes are neater looking and his arms are visible with black sleeves.

I find this bizarre, because it's such a drastic change. Looking at his two forms side by side, it almost looks like two different characters. Like, taking off a hat should not change your form like that, even if it might be dark world logic.

Ralsei is also shown to disappear when he's downed in battles. Susie, Kris and Noelle all have sprites of them kneeling or collapsed on the ground when their hp reaches 0. But ralsei just... turns into a pile of his clothes, in both forms. Almost like he's made of nothing??

Ralsei also seems seems just show up in dark worlds without Kris or Susie bringing him there in his supposed object form. Other darkners like Rouxls and Lancer are physical objects (both of them are playing cards), and need to be carried in Kris' pocket to the Cyber World. Kris has to physically take all the objects from rooms and bring them back to the supply closet.

Since we still only have two chapters at the moment, what object Ralsei actually is in the light world is currently a mystery. Some say he could Kris' red horned headband (personal favourite of mine), or even the missing green crayon in the Dreemurr house.

I even theorised that he might be Kris' mysterious knife they always seem to have on them, which is why he's always in the dark world shortly after Kris and Susie arrive there. But we never see Kris' knife in their inventory anywhere, unless Kris is just. materialising the knife out of thin air???

This still doesn't change to fact that Ralsei, if he did have an light world object equivalent, would have to be carried around like every other darkner in order to travel to other dark worlds. But he doesn't. He just... shows up in Cyber World to help Susie and Kris without any explanation other than "I felt a dark presence."

Most interestingly, he later explains that darkners who don't belong in other dark worlds will turn to stone. All the Card Castle characters in the Cyber World turn to stone in chapter 2, but Ralsei doesn't. He does say that Castle Town's fountain is made of pure darkness, so that's why all darkners can live there.

Ralsei being Castle Town's ruler helps him in this case, and the fact that a piece of text in Toby's concepts for Ralsei's manual says that Ralsei's form is made from Castle Town's fountain. Makes sense that a being made from pure darkness would be able to live in every dark world. But here's another question I have.

WHY is Castle Town's fountain made of pure darkness? How did it get this way? Is it because the fountain has maybe been around longer, while others like Card Kingdom and Cyber World were created only recently? What makes a fountain pure darkness?

Well here we bring up some interesting lore from Queen in chapter 2. Queen says that she needs a lightner to help spread more darkness, by literally opening a dark fountain inside a dark world. In the Giga Queen fight, she calls it a Neo Fountain.

Berdly almost makes this a reality, only to be stopped by Ralsei, who suddenly drops the lore about the Roaring.

The Roaring is a prophecy of a sort of apocalyptic event, where opening more dark fountains and fountains within fountains could cause mass destruction. Giant beings known as Titans will form from all the fountains, and will cover the world in darkness, turning darkners to stone and leaving humans to fend for themselves.

Ralsei speaks of this like its either a prophecy that was passed down to him, or something he even witnessed first hand. Maybe that's why he has no subjects in Castle Town. But I want to go back to everything I've said here about Ralsei, the most important ones bolded.

• is able to change forms by the drop of a hat (haha)

• is supposedly made of pure darkness like Castle Town's fountain

• fades into nothing when he's downed in battles

• can travel between dark worlds without being brought physically in the light world

• doesn't turn to stone when in other dark worlds while many other darkners do

• knows about a catastrophic event where more fountains are made and giant beasts made from darkness ravage the land

That last part. When I remembered that Ralsei said that the titans are formed from dark fountains, and that Ralsei is a darkner of pure darkness... well that got me thinking: What if Ralsei is a young titan? His first form in chapter 1 could be closer to his true titan form, and he might be taking a new form in chapter 2 to appeal more to lightners.

(Side note Ralsei taking the form of a boss monster, the species that Kris' family is, is another can of worms I have to save when I talk about their connections.)

What if Ralsei is a product of a Neo fountain being created? What if he's the last remnant of a time when there were more fountains, when the sky was black with terror, and the land cracked with fear.

Like, NEO fountains are even talked about more in the Spamton Sweepstakes. When you play this puzzle on the website, and click the 3rd option on the bottom row, you are brought to a sprite of a chair.

We all know the chair, but the phrase in the window of this page definitely seems seems be hinting at the creation of Neo fountains.

What if that's Ralsei's deal. Even if he isn't a titan, what if he's some kind of Neo darkner? What if he's more darkner than darkners in general?

Honestly I'm fully prepared for this theory to be steam rolled over when the next two chapters drop, but it was fun and interesting to write nontheless! I'm interested to see if anyone else has their own theory about this or if you even had the same thoughts?

So far the theories I’ve seen about Ruby Sunday

She is Rose’s (and TenTwo’s) daughter

She is one of the god things that keep popping up

She is river’s and the doctors daughter (I don’t love this theory because in what world would river not raise her kid after her own childhood? Or at the very least ensure more than just leaving her at a church? Feels like a disservice to her character)

She is the doctor’s sister (intrigued by this one)

She is the doctor’s great great grand daughter (LOVE this one because they keep talking about fatherhood and mentioned his granddaughter)

She is an AI created to look human but to make weather patterns but only can do snow (this one cracked me up)

Also some interesting things about Ruby and the snow that I think deserve some call backs to previous things to understand:

In “vastra investigates” Jenny says it’s bowing and Vastra says that should be impossible because there’s no clouds in the sky

The great intelligence being the thing that originally thing that controlled snow

Actually speaking of the great intelligence I actually think we might be getting called back to that. It’s an entity that was previously connected to the Great Old Ones which are like “gods” from another universe. They’ve not been brought up in a long time but now we have these new entities like the Toymaker and the Maestro and it just seems like maybe too much of a coincidence? Also the Great Old Ones are inspired by HP Lovecrafts works about “gods.” Anyways the Great Intelligence’s whole thing is that it has to possess people to like exist fully so I’m just wondering if perhaps Ruby is either possessed by the GI or if the GI was possessing her mom and that’s why she was left at the church and potentially why she has the random powers sometimes?

This is one of the HP world-building things that I struggle with because it doesn't...really make sense. JKR didn't want to deal with it in a significant way. It obviously takes place in a universe, like our own, where British Christianity (or at least the cultural vestiges of it) permeates. The characters celebrate Christian holidays, there's literally a wizard friar. They are clearly not living that neo-pagan life. But there's also no explicit mention of religious worship at the school (no required chapel attendance at Hogwarts, like there would be at a real British boarding school.) Is there even a Church in Hogsmeade? Harry had a christening and has a godfather so he was baptized (Sirius you are failing in your religious obligations to your godson lol)! There's a church graveyard in Godric's Hollow and people are going to services on Christmas Eve. Harry's parents have a quote from Corinthians on their gravestone that he isn't capable of contextualizing correctly. The Dursleys are smug, middle-class unchurched, uninterested in metaphysical questions materialists, which I can dig and is definitely a real "type".

Also witchcraft in HP is a natural ability people are born with as opposed to some unnatural power one gains with the unholy cooperation with demons. So I guess HP is a parallel universe where the biblical strictures against witchcraft wouldn't exist/apply? The fact that McGonagall's backstory involves her dad being a Presbyterian minister cracks me up. Ain't no self-respecting real-world Calvinist bringing his kids up as wizards in our universe.

I do think the Christian worldview/Christian themes are pretty apparent in HP, but doctrinal questions are left un-dealt with. Obviously there's an afterlife and a world beyond this one—and the whole series is ultimately about death, accepting it and conquering it, being willing to die for others, etc.

I do love having the Black family make scriptural references so I apparently can't quite resist them having some at least period appropriate bible knowledge.

My favorite batshit crazy HP theory is that the whole pureblood wizards/muggleborns conflict is a metaphor for recusant Catholics/English protestants.

A Winter Ball for Two

She was enchanting.

Draco could at least admit that.

He might find his tongue tied up in knots, or find sudden, intense interest in the cracks of the castle walls wherever she drew near, but he could not deny that Hermione Granger looked like a winter fairy dressed and glowing as she was in the flickering light of the hundreds of candles floating above their heads.

The Great Hall was decked from corner to corner with its usual Christmas icing, but additional care had been taken to make the event feel extra special in light of the school’s inaugural Winter Ball, to be held annually after their Eighth and final year. The students had truly pulled out all of the stops with their eagerness to bring joy back to the haunted halls of their youth.

Granger spearheaded those efforts as Head Girl, delegating tasks to Professors, Prefects, and volunteers alike. Draco might have been spared if not for his best mate being her counterpart as Head Boy. Theo refused to let Draco hide himself away in his dorm room, or, on the rare occasion, the library. He’d found himself dragged to the Heads’ private rooms and pressured into providing any valuable input the sole child of Narcissa Malfoy could give. He’d grown up in the lap of luxury, after all. Organizing and attending balls were as natural to Draco as riding a broomstick.

He’d expected to be left alone with Theo in the common room, for Granger to avoid him like the plague that he was. He’d seen how others couldn’t help but stare at his arm, as if willing his mark to burn through the sleeve. 

She hadn’t done that.

Granger sat in with them most nights, curling up in an armchair, her armchair as Draco started to see it, cushioned by squishy pillows and swimming in a blanket large enough for a Quidditch team. She started plying them with treats and hot beverages, even going so far as to remember their likes and dislikes and supplying accordingly.

Knowing what she did of his family and home, and bearing the weights of their past, Granger was surprisingly curious about his experiences. She asked him about his family traditions, his most memorable gifts. His experiences growing up in the Malfoy household were much gentler than Theo’s, whose sole comfort had been his mother, one lost after her untimely death.

They, in turn, learned about her and, by default, Muggle traditions.

“I’m telling you, Granger, Father Christmas has to be a wizard. I mean, how could he not be? Fireplaces? Flying reindeer? Time manipulation?”

Theo had taken the opportunity to steal the witch’s chair when she’d gone for a tea refill, and she’d been forced to join Draco on the sofa to address his theory.

“Doesn’t it strike you as odd how entrenched he is in Muggle tradition? It makes me wonder just what kind of man he was–was he simply a philanthropist who wanted to bring joy to all children, Muggle and Magical, rich and poor, no matter their nationality or beliefs, or did he have some other underlying agenda?”

They’d gone on to argue over whether or not one wore pajamas to open Christmas presents–the only way Draco would ever concede would be if she showed up in crimson lingerie, otherwise clothing appropriate for pictures and visitors it was–as well as their expected courses at the dinner table. They both agreed Yorkshire pudding and redcurrant jelly were requirements, but Draco had put his foot down at her insistence that roast beef could be anywhere near the level of a perfectly prepared turkey.

“Why not both?” Theo mused.

“Shut it, Theo,” Draco snapped, “I don’t want to hear that from a wizard who eats his weight in sausage rolls every Christmas.”

Theo had merely winked, sending Granger into a fit of giggles.

“Oh, yes, Theo does love his sausages,” she managed to get out, before dissolving once more into laughter. Draco refused to acknowledge how cute he found the snorts that peppered her glee.

And now, here he was, lurking behind one of the many towering fir trees lining the Great Hall and attempting to blend into the foliage.

It hadn’t been difficult to avoid notice. Very few students, or even teachers, paid him much attention other than to glare or mutter insults. The sooner he could leave, the better. He wanted to be here as much as others did, which meant not at all.

“Why don’t you ask her to dance?”

Of course, Potter would find him.

Draco turned to face his long-time rival, taking in his relaxed stance, the bulkier form he’d built in his time since those days as Undesirable No. 1. Adulthood looked good on Potter.

“I’m surprised to see you here.” He ignored the question, choosing to redirect instead.

Bright green eyes flashed, and Draco couldn’t help but feel like he’d been easily read. Then, in a curious show of nerves, Potter bit his lip and looked off into the crowd.

“I couldn’t resist.”

Draco traced the line of sight. He saw Granger dancing with Theo, her head thrown back in a laugh, the graceful line of her neck bare and delicate. He searched for the expected fiery red hair of the Weaslette, only to find her far off to the right and decidedly not the target of Potter’s desire. So, who was he looking at?

A horrifying thought tickled the back of his mind.

Was he looking at Granger?

“Why don’t you ask her to dance?” he found himself asking the same question he’d dodged earlier. 

Had they found love during their lost year, despite Weasley’s presence? Had Draco stumbled across some sort of love triangle? Granger had never indicated her attachment to anyone, but Draco had assumed the obvious. How could anyone not fall for her in close proximity like they’d been?

“Doesn’t that kind of defeat the purpose?” One thick, black brow rose in consideration as Potter stared straight at him, his arms now crossed over his chest. 

“What do you mean?” Draco was confused. Defeat the purpose of what? 

He nearly let his younger self sneer out an insult at the way those eyes rolled into Potter’s head.

“How can I spend any time with Theo if I’m dancing with Hermione?”

Wait, what?

Potter and…Theo? 

“No offense, but how? And when?” Draco asked, nearly sputtering in disbelief.

“Well, I’d have thought the intricacies of gay sex would lie outside of your particular interests, but if you really want–” He broke off with a laugh at Draco’s choked gasp. “Sorry, couldn’t help myself. You make it so easy sometimes, Malfoy.”

“I do not,” he muttered. He hated that Theo and Granger both said the exact same thing.

“I’d heard about how he helped last year here at the castle from Neville, the way he was there for the younger kids no matter their house or blood status. That couldn’t have been easy for someone with his background.”

That knowledge had surprised Draco, as well. He hadn’t been around last year, either, but it didn’t take long for Theo’s actions to make themselves known throughout their mutual circles. Theo’s father had been…less than pleased, but that hadn’t stopped his mate from doing whatever he could to help. Theo was a better man than Draco, by far.

“So when Hermione brought him around, I already had a good impression. After meeting him, though?” Potter’s face softened, his expression wistful as he glanced back towards the dance floor. “How could I not fall for him?”

Not only was he the Chosen One, the damn Savior of the Wizarding World, but he was every bit the sort of person Draco would have wanted for his closest friend. He was brave and, Draco could admit it now, kind.

One song ended, then another began, slower, sweeter. Draco summoned up every bit of courage he could find. There wasn’t much, but it was enough.

“Let’s go, Potter.”

Again with the arched brow. Then, a crooked smile, one Draco couldn’t help but reciprocate.

Within moments, he stood before her, sweat building at the nape of his neck. He resisted the urge to wipe his hands against his robes. She turned at his approach, her partner now also facing away towards Potter.

“Malfoy? Is there something wrong?”

Sweet Salazar.

Her skin was flushed in the heat of her movements, tiny curls spilling out of her updo and framing her face in a way that had him yearning to brush them back, to lean in and breathe in deep. Her chest rose and fell heavily, chestnut irises pierced through with flecks of gold staring up at him in question.

“Would you do me the honor of this dance?”

Curiosity melded into pleasure, her lips spreading wide to show off her perfect smile. He wanted to make her smile like that everyday.

“It would be my pleasure.”

She placed her hand in his, and he smoothly moved it up to his shoulder, stepping in close to sweep her up into his arms. It didn’t matter what song played, or whether or not she knew the steps–as far as he was concerned, there was nobody else but them. Hermione seemed just as caught in the moment as he, her face upturned and rosy lips parted as she traced his features like she meant to memorize the moment for the future. He knew he would.

She floated weightlessly in his embrace, her steps following him without hesitation. A raise of his arm and a spin had him admiring the silver-white twirl of her skirt around her slender legs. It didn’t matter what she wore, however. He still would have thought her just as enchanting were she in her favorite joggers, her mane tied up in a wand as it often was.

“You look beautiful.”

She blushed at the praise, eyes darting away for a split second like she couldn’t believe him.

“So do you.” Her head jerked back and eyes widened comically, and she hastened to correct herself. “I mean, you look handsome. Your robes, they bring out your eyes.”

He found it impressive that she could blush even deeper, and couldn’t help the grin that spread across his face. “I don’t mind ‘beautiful’, but you’re free to compliment me however you’d like.”

The hand that was resting on his shoulder came up to thwack him lightly on the back of the head.

“Ow!”

“That’s for teasing me,” she said with a scowl, but he could tell she didn’t really mean it. 

“As long as you don’t punch me in the nose again.” Could that have been the moment that she really caught his attention? Not her blood status, nor her annoying academic superiority, but her swift right hook?

Her head tilted one way, then the other. “I don’t think I will. I quite like your nose how it is.”

Well, in that case.

He brought his face down closer to her own, and she squeaked at the sudden nearness of him. 

Fucking adorable.

“Hermione?”

She stared unblinkingly back at him, as caught by the sound of her name on his lips as she was by his proximity. “Yes?” she whispered, so softly it was only his eyes on her lips that read the word.

“Would you let me take you out this weekend?”

“Out?” she echoed, still barely audible.

“Out. You. Me. A date.”

“A date?”

Had he broken her? She looked lost, like she wasn’t sure if she was dreaming. Maybe he’d read her all wrong, and the perceived closeness of the past weeks was nothing but his imagination. Perhaps his request blindsided her, coming from someone she only saw as a friend of a friend, or, worse, someone she barely tolerated.

The possibilities roared through his head and his movement slowed, no longer hearing the music. He wanted to leave. He should have left earlier, before Potter and his bloody bravery.

“I’m going to–”

“Yes.”

Strings and woodwinds roared back to full volume, laughter from the other dancers surrounding them as he returned to the ball. To Hermione. She looked up at him now, serious, expectant.

“Yes?”

Hope unfurled like the spreading warmth of a crackling fire as her lips turned upward and creases formed at the corners of her eyes.

“Yes.”

So best guesses for levelling up to 12 under the cut for spoilers:

First the ones that aren't Feats/ASI:

Chetney: took level 11 as a Blood Hunter for the next subclass feature, which gives him Lycan Regeneration. When he starts his turn with under half health, he regains 3 hp (1+Con modifier). His Crimson Rite die is also now a d8, and he can transform twice per short or long rest. Very cool, I figured this is the better choice over him taking a second level of rogue.

Laudna: Taking her 9th level of sorcerer gives her a 5th level spell slot and another sorcery point. I really thought she might take another Warlock level and an ASI/Feat, but a higher spell slot to cast Counterspell out of is a great call when they're about to fight a bunch of casters.

Fearne: Took her 3rd level of Rogue, so her sneak attack goes up to 2d6 and she chose Arcane Trickster as her subclass. The mage hand bonus action is fine, but she gets an expanded spell list that may come in handy. Also according to the multi-classing spell slot calculator I use, she still gets a 2nd 5th level slot this way. I thought she might've taken Thief instead... but my crack theory/personal favorite would've been Phantom Rogue after the bonding with the ghost pirates but thats just a me thing lol.

Now for the non-multiclassers:

FCG: Took something that boosted their Wisdom by 1, which (finally) gets their stat to 18 and boosts their DC/Spell Attack Mod. It seems likely to be a Skill Expert feat, as Observant has been taken by Liam and Laura is playing a Telepathic character with the Telekinetic feat, the Fey Touched feat, and possibly the Shadow Touched feat. Sam doesn't like to do what other players have done before, so I think he might try to avoid those feats. This one and Imogen's are the ones I'm least sure about.

Imogen: I think Laura took War Caster. I don't think I saw any of her stats increase, even though I bet she wishes she had taken something to boost that Wisdom now after that encounter with Predathos. (Edit: got a message that she seems to have gotten expertise in Persuasion, so it's possible she took Skill Expert)

Orym: Liam took the Tough feat, finally giving his HP rolls a big F U. His HP before was 99 + 5 (the roll) + 2 (his Con Modifier) = 106. Tough gave him 2 x his current level (12) for a total of 24. Which is how he got to 130. (Edit: as of episode 84, he may have also taken Fey Touched as part of his deal with Morri.)

Ashton: I remember Taliesin praising the Sentinel feat at one point, and I think it really fits Ashton's protector vibes he's developed. I didn't see a stat increase, so I assume its either Sentinel or Mage Slayer, and I would prefer the former for them.

Is Director Krennic the one who flounces in the Star Wars Universe?

I must say that I don't know anything about the HP fandom, although I was under the impression that Snape was well-liked (I might be wrong). From what I remember from the first movies that came out when I was a kid, he was supposed to be more laconic and sarcastic than going around flouncing buuut again that was again my impression.

As for Krennic, another disclaimer, I have yet to read Catalyst (it's been sitting on my bookshelves gathering dust for a few years now but no time, no energy) and what I'm about to say about him is just my awfully personal view.

In Rogue One we are firstly introduced to an Orson Krennic that has a manner of cool and sarcasm about him. In when he recaptures Galen Erso, he commands the scene with a sense of self-reassurance. He dictates the pace and the events. The future is bright, and there is a long road ahead. I see little flouncing in that scene tbh. As for dramatic, well... I guess some would point that his cape is overly dramatic but I'd say that capes have not been something unheard of in certain real life military corps so... I personally don't see anything dramatic there xD

Then we skip quite a few years and once again we meet him. This time, he's a Director, and everything has changed. Krennic is under an incredible amount of stress, more than ever before. As more and more time passes, the greater his certainty that, despite his position, despite the Death Star being a successful project (ESPECIALLY after that), he is replaceable. He knows that his life is on the line unless he makes himself indispensable. He has all the cards, skills and authority to make it out alive, if he plays them well. But he slips more and more, to a boiling point, a couple of times (notably in three moments: 1s, when yells for the officers to fire the Death Star; 2nd "this is my achievement" line; 3rd, when he yells at the officers to deploy their troops in Scarif). Despite being terrified through the entirety of the film, I'd say he keeps his cool rather well except for some outbursts here and there, considering the extreme circumstances surrounding his whole arc. Take the way he keeps it together when he first meets Tarkin, his brooding mien in his shuttle, the sheer coldness about him when he deals with the traitor situation in Eadu. Oh, and his reaction when they test the Death Star in Jedha for the first time. Rather refined, I'd say, despite Tarkin's constant goading. He simply smiles and walks out, letting actions speak for themselves (probably thinking "suck that and come back for another"). It's only when it's taken from him when he explodes.

Soooooo after all this rant that I didn't know I had to get off my chest, is Director Krennic the once who flounces in Star Wars?

The short answer is that fandom works in mysterious ways. Sometimes it's fun to focus on certain aspects of a character, for the sake of crack or lighthearted content, and that sort of stuff is most times quite self-conscious. Just people that are aware of what they are doing: having a good time, and that's what fandom, imho, should be about. Sometimes though, this goes a bit out of hand and the anecdote is turned into the norm, if you know what I mean. Taking a character and putting them in a box with a label, reducing their overall personality to said label against all evidence found in canon sources (in this fandom I use the term canon in an expansive way to both new and legends/eu stuff btw) . And it would seem that Krennic is sometimes indeed reduced to flouncing drama queen in settings beyond "just having my silly good time with my silly little meow meow".

Long story short, during when I was writing the new player's post and also now afterwards watching various 'first playthrough' streams I kept getting the "game guide" urge whenever they encountered an issue. SO here's a bunch of information, separated by game or thing.

NOTES: - This is decidedly NOT comprehensive, partly so I don't take five million years and make a multi-game guide monstrosity, and I want to leave some things unexplained to be discovered later. Knowledge gaps got filled in by googlin', too, with some links in here to further resources. - I'll say things like Triangle for buttons. If your controller/game version uses different ones, then use those. - Some tips for one may apply to others, I just didn't want to repeat too much. This will mostly be true for games with similar mechanics, but overarching series generalness is it's own section.

I hope you like reading this, I had a good time writing it!

~*General Tips*~

Pay attention to enemy attacks! Most of them have cues you can react to (dodge, parry, counter, etc), and bosses have distinct phases, including HP gates where their attacks/patterns change.

Make use of the things you have! You might not use some Keyblades/Summons/Things in a casual setting, but they can be very good in certain situations.

Try out and see what different abilities do. Leaf Bracer and Second Chance for example are total life savers.

Be adaptive! Settling into just doing the same thing over and over for every fight or encounter can get pretty stale, and in worst case scenarios you'll be hitting a brick wall and dying a lot and getting real mad

^ Overall, experiment and have fun with it! Find what abilities, equipment setups, etc work best both for your current situation and that you find the most fun!

Don't be scared of continues/retries; more often than not you'll be reset into the room before the one you died in, or else before a major scene/fight trigger. BUT double check your items/abilities if you messed with them before losing, and re-equip if necessary.

Read the Ansem Reports/Secret Ansems/etc. for more story content/context! You can do it anywhen you want, but they're all in Jiminy's Journal along with things like short character bios, an enemy bestiary, or plot summaries (per world and game overall). You'll get most of them from story or game progress, but others can be found by completing optional tasks.

If you're a big lore enjoyer, mystery unraveler, or theory enthusiast you might find it worthwhile to keep notes of things, but doing this just to figure out what's directly going on isn't necessary. The games will explain themselves when they get there or else it's in some form of Report

~*KH1*~

The choices/questions given to you in the starting dream section affect your starting stats/skill learn order and EXP level curve. There's much talked about for what ones are 'best', but I don't think there's any particularly wrong choice for a casual playthrough.

There's info online if you want to make a super informed decision or a specific stat/ability layout. The link goes to KHGuides' page on this section, their website and YT channel are also good for specific mechanics, bosses, or world walkthroughs, mainly for KH1 and some of 2 right now.

Pressing triangle while not locked on to an enemy will 'recall' party members back to you, and pressing it while locked on will send them to focus attack that target. I think this works even through commands for attacks/summons.

Changing Party AI works wonders for any healing issues or making them do what you want them to but sometimes they'll still drink all your potions anyway. Setting their item usage to 'emergency only' can help but they'll still get thirsty sometimes.

That said items are either not scarce or easy to make, so don't be afraid to drink them yourself if needed or allow D&G to crack one or two open sometimes. Use any/all stat boost items (Defense/Attack Up etc) on Sora exclusively, though.

You can set shortcuts for spells/items. Useful for quick Cures/items or spell volleys of your choice. I always keep Cure on something with the other two being either situational or preference.

The Gummi Ship segments are a little boring and AFAIK only have inverted up/down controls. If all you're concerned with is story progress and don't want to deal with this stuff more than necessary, you get a warp/fast travel ability after the first batch of Disney worlds so you only have to fly any route to a world once ever.

^ Making a ship is also clunky but can be fun if you want to make your own badass thing to fly around. You'll usually end up with a lot of G-blocks just playing normally anyway, and Cid can sell you some spray paint for them too, along with more blocks.

In Merlin's house there's a mock fight arena vs his furniture. This is a good area to test spells and summons, since being in this "minigame" gives you infinite MP and the furniture enemies don't even have attacks.

You can hit the Queen to make the cards give up on chasing you for a moment while she recovers. You can do it more than once.

Deep Jungle has a number of childhood horror stories about it, but it's not that bad, I don't think. It's mostly "go everywhere more than once to progress" heavy, but talking to Jane can help you figure out what you're meant to be doing.

You don't have to do either the slide or vines minigames. If you start them, you can quit out immediately to be brought right to the Camp area or the side of Vines with the climbable ivy, respectively

Monstro is also a little confusing (and mildly uncomfortable) to navigate. Follow the doorways that glow green, they also have a Green Requiem spawn above them but this is harder to pick up on than the glowing.

Atlantica is considered one of the game's low points due to the water level curse, but using magic here will help you out a lot.

Locking on to an enemy and moving will make Sora move to the same 'altitude' as it in said world, too.

Hitting Ursula's cauldron with enough magic when it's glowing will make it explode and stun both her and the eels. Fire works the best for this, it's fastest to cast repeatedly, but any spell will work.

If you're at the Very Definitely Final Endgame Door - or really anywhere in the game - and feel unconfident, unprepared, or underleveled, you can use the save point in that room to leave and gain levels elsewhere or buy items back in town, and come back to the same room. Do this to wrap anything else you want up, too, or else keep a hard save of this point around. There's no 'postgame', just ignoring the final boss door forever to do stuff elsewhere.

~*KH Re:COM*~

THIS GAME'S COMBAT IS DIFFERENT FROM KH1's. It can be really fun, but the card system can also be a turn-off or brick wall to some. Give the game a try and if you really can't stand it or it just isn't clicking, here are the cutscenes to watch (or these ones , for world dialogue/content that the first link cuts out. Either way you'll be fine, the excluded stuff is majority memory themed discussions in worlds you've mostly seen before.)

Personally, this video helped me out a lot, I also dipped out on the gameplay of this one originally out of "oh no...math...." or generally not understanding what's going on, esp deck building.

The order you do worlds in doesn't matter that much, the enemies will scale as you progress regardless of what 'order' you do.

~*KH2*~

Moogles have stores in ALL worlds in set locations now, so you don't have to scurry back to the one world with an item/synthesis store to get stuff or synthesize.

Sometimes limits want you to use both X and Triangle for max effectiveness. This is a surprise tool that will help you later

Try to only keep one "Auto-[thing]" ability on at a time. IME it can fuck you up in a fight if you accidentally use a limit instead of the reaction command you actually wanted for example.

Cure works differently here than it did in 1, it now drains ALL your MP. Keep this in mind, HOWEVER, that "all" MP DOES NOT MEAN "you need a full MP bar". It also has a small AOE, so you can stand next to a KO'd party member or two and heal them and yourself.

Whenever a character 'departs' from the party due to a story event and then re-joins later, check their items and abilities. They were likely removed and deactivated. This is what "surrendered" means on the game's popup for this.

^This isn't that problematic, but IS kind of annoying in Port Royal, because J*ck Sp*rrow is required for a boss fight and you game over if he dies during it. The fight isn't so too bad on it's own, but not having to pay more extra attention to one guy makes it a little easier.

If you're wondering where/when you get Glide or High Jump again, the answer is Drive Forms. Leveling them up enough unlocks these/similar abilities for normal Sora. They all have unique EXP gain means, the specifics are on their status screens IIRC but if not you can look it up.

~*358/2 Days*~

This is an cutscene compilation in the HD collections so no gameplay tips for that since, well, there isn't. However, it does not include a lot of content/dialogue not found ~in cutscenes~. A lot of it gets the "this is what happened" exposition text treatment if it's not skipped entirely.

Chip Cooper on YT has an Extended Movie with all the 'cut' scenes, but bear in mind that this increases your watch time for Days from about 3 hours to a little over 8. Maybe this says something about how much was cut to begin with, but if you aren't able to play the game yourself for whatever reason it's the go-to for the Full Days Experience.

The official movie isn't bad, it's just a victim of being trimmed down for time/production constraints. It still works and tells its story well.

If you want to play it yourself, your best bet is either emus or tracking down a copy yourself + a DS. The structure/quality is generally considered kind of boring and tedious (and clunky), but some will argue this being good for relating to the protagonist. YMMV

~*Birth By Sleep*~

DO NOT SAVE OVER DIFFERENT CHARACTERS' SAVES (ie: saving Ventus' file over Terra's), this will screw you out of unlocking the final episode and potentially force you to play the 'missing' character's story all over again if you only had the one save for them. Space them out or keep multiple per character just in case of accidental overwrites.

You can choose who you play first, but you'll be playing all three either way. The "official story play order" according to Nomura himself is Terra -> Ventus -> Aqua.

The Command Board is an easy way to level up commands, get some early/quickly or ones you can't get otherwise. Besides that and 100% completionist stuff it's skippable.

Command Melding is your ticket to success/having a strong build in this game. You can look up guides for how to get specific ones/the odds of doing so but it can be just as fun to do it without. A guide might ruin the surprise of it all.

Don't worry about losing commands forever when you meld them, either. If you make something once you can buy it from the Moogles.

Don't ignore D-Links! They can be extremely useful. Example: Terra is a "strong but slow" type character, but he has a D-Link available that gives him a "haste" ability and makes him attack VERY fast.

~* Re:Coded*~

Not a lot to say here for a cutscene movie. Have fun, get a snack, look at gameplay videos for the orignal if you want to, too.

This game actually first started life as a cell phone title! It later got remade into a DS game, and that's the version that got spruced up for the HD collection (in movie form). Sadly the current state of the original is in the realm of lost media/vaporware last I heard...

~*DDD*~

Use the ability board for your dream eaters; you gain abilities through them, so pick an ability on one of their boards that you want, get it, move on/repeat. There's ways to cheese these, but just generally leveling your dream eaters is worth the time.

Both those abilities and fusing the eaters later can get you some really powerful ones. These dudes are going to be your only party members in this game, too

You'll have a sort of drive gauge-like meter by your character's HP in this game. If it's halfway purple/black try to avoid getting into a boss fight. Generally if it's yellow you should be OK for any bosses.

Keep a Drop-me-not or two around for emergency situations like this

~*UnionX/Back Cover*~

UnionX itself isn't playable anymore and Back Cover is a movie, so I'll just rec damo279's compilation. It includes advice on how much to watch before going into KH3 - and when to come back afterwards - as well as splicing in Back Cover scenes in their relevant places.

There's also a fandub version of it in segmented parts, if you're into that more. It's all really marvelous TBH, I'm impressed by the community effort especially. Thanks to all for preserving these titles and having fun with them!

Back Cover is good just by itself, too. It's really neat to watch what happens in it and see the character performances/interactions.

I didn't know much about UnionX when I first saw it and had a total blast. IMO it did good enough on its own for me to understand or at least recognize some things for 3, but not everything.

~*KH3+ReMind*~

You can use any Keyblade you want the whole game with the newly introduced ability to upgrade them. No specific recommendations for what ones so really do just use your three (yeah, three!) favorites or ones you think work with your style the best!

You have to 'manually' equip upgraded spells though, they don't just upgrade automatically like before.

This game has a "hidden Mickey" thing going on, and you get rewarded for taking pics of them. You can look up a guide if you want, but if you don't want to keep in mind that not all of them are obvious. Some are 'distorted' and need a different perspective or make no sense until viewed at the right angle. Most are obvious, and your teammates will usually call them out either way.

Same with ingredients, which you should pick up when you can. Especially since everyone tells you about them or vague that a spot looks good to find some. See a mushroom? An apple? Some celery? This pear? Grab it. Eat that thing.

Gummi Ship segments in this game are NICE. They're fun and finding treasures there is good for keyblade upgrades/synthesis/stuff like that.

Airstep! You should still be careful but it's good for starting flowmotion attacks and closing distance on faraway enemies.

Kupo Coins are great "oh, fuck" items, so it's worth the quick side trip to get more of them if needed/you run out.

ReMind has three "parts" to it. The added stuff to the main story is about as difficult as the base game is (so if you felt it was easy or hard it'll be that), while Limit Cut and the Secret Episode are widely considered to be more difficult than basically anything else in the series. Those two will fully expect you to understand how to play Kingdom Hearts to beat them, or you'll die badly.

My favourite toh fandom feature is the way they always make up headcanons, opinions , theories or etc, distribute them to make everyone believe it's true and than go and hate everyone who desagrees. And how fast they change their view, when it turned out to be false.

We have so many examples of it:

1. Hcs about Hunter being bi, Willow being pan, Raine being lesbian, Alador being gay or Collector being non-binary. Noone ever confirmed it, but for some reason people are sure it's canon or implied.

2. Luz and Hunter being siblings. It was far before TTT even came out with their siblings. After HP it was the dynamic, "they act just like Blights/Clathornes" , after HM it was "parallels with Wittebros" and "Eda def is gonna adopt Hunter" and now, TTT it's "You're family now" and litteraly nothing has changed.

3. Willow being blasian. Sure, in theory it might be possible, that both Willow's parents are her natural parents since magic and stuff, but we don't know ho in their world it actually works and there is no official answer yet. Now we know only that Willow has features of only one of her fathers and has none of another one. So now we can surely say only that she is asian.

4. The theory of possessed Luz. I honestly never seen people insult others for not believing in it, but everyone tried to impose it and say "that's so obviously" and even tried to give proves. When now we know she wasn't possessed and isn't gonna be.

5. It was very long time ago, but I remember the time everyone was sure Eda and Camila are gonna be canon, cause both of them are Luz's mothers at some point. But now Eda lives Raine and that's most likely that Camila is straight, so it's defenetly not gonna be.

6. Even that era when everyone was hating on Lilith and wished she died. It was hard to find at least someone who wasn't Lilith anti at that time and if you liked her, everyone was gonna hate on you too. But now she is pretty popular and very loveble chatacter. That's ironic that I didn't hate het before, but dislike her now tho.

7. Basicly the way everyone used to hate on Huntlow untill the final of s2. It ship existed before s2b, but there were barely anyone who ships them and people hated those who do cause "it's a non-sence crack ship with a huge age gap". And guess what ship became litteraly the most popular in toh fandom now? I seen it more often then Lumity. Also these Goldric fans. Goldric used to be one of the most popular ships in toh. Their fans attacked Lunter and Hunter. But now it's just a stupid crack ship noone cares about and now Huntlow fans hate Goldric. When litteraly 2/3 of Huntlow fans used to either hate Huntlow and assume it as a proship, or ship Goldric.

8. The same as the last one, but with Willuz and Gaslow.

So what am I getting at? I just hate how hypocritical toh fandom is. They always wrong, but they never admit they were wrong. It's a perfect example of the crowd effect. When the one person spreads a thought and everyone starts believe in it with no reason and continue to spread it on everyone like it's canon. That's really so annoying.
