And by proxy of this flashback talking about his disrespect - they never bring up his attire.#meaning he is likely in some kind of Jiang Purple.#Continuity wise it really feels like this scene should have been *before* the burial mounds.#I understand why it's post - we need to build up on the mystery of how he became the YLLZ.#But also his personality feels way more 'pre-burial mounds WWX'. I think this was probably a 'I don't want to kill my darling' scene.#(The Phoenix mountain flashback is a lot of people's 'darling'. I am knowingly putting myself in the line of fire here).#I'm willingly putting him in Wen Qing's borrowed cloak and assuming people take him wearing it as like...a war trophy.#Historians will revise this moment later on but for now he *is* a hero of that war.

Solar hadn't expected it.

When he saw Sun walking toward him like a man on a mission, determination written all over his face, he had thought a million different ways the interaction could've gone.

Not... this. Whatever this was.

Sun had his arms firmly wrapped around him in a hug; his own arms were hovering incertainly, not sure where to put them. Solar's frame was as stiff as a board. The sheer tension in his body making his joints creak.

He didn't know what to do.

One part of his mind rejoiced in the physical connection. It gobled up all the affection as if it had been starved for years, leaving his head spinning and body fuzzy on all point of contact, torso, shoulder, back. It yearned for more, lean in, wrap his arms around, bring him closer, more contact, more!

The other part of his mind, the rational part, screamed at him to get away, to flee, to run as far as possible. It was dangerous, do not let the other close. It wasn't right, he couldn't let it continue, he didn't belong there, in the embrace of the Sun, in the daycare, this dimension althogether. He needed to leave immediatly. He didn't belong. He didn't deserve any of this.

Arms wound thighter around him.

"It's ok. You're ok," Sun whispered softly, as if sensing the conflict in his mind.

And Solar broke.

He let his head fall with a sob on the other's shoulder, his arms clutching tightly, almost desperatly, at him. If it was uncomfortable, Sun didn't say anything.

All the emotions Solar usually kept burried deep bubbled back to the surface and he cried.

For a brief moment, it was his Sun in his arms and rubbing his back soothingly. It was his dear brother who he never had the chance to play games with and to beat him at said games, who he never had the chance to thank, who he never had the chance to hug.

"I'm sorry!" he said between sobs and hiccups.

For a brief moment is was his brother in his arms, who he never had the chance to say goodbye.
