Hi, sorry to bother and sorry if this is too much, but I was wondering if you had anything to help write a character dying of an infected gunshot wound? Love ur acc btw 💓
Writing Notes: Infected Gunshot Wound
It will take some time for a gunshot wound to heal.
The length of time depends on the person's health and how serious the wound is.
The bullet may have broken a bone or caused a lot of damage to muscles, organs, or nerves.
The bullet may also have been left in the body because getting it out would have caused the person more harm.
Some signs of infection:
Redness or swelling around the wound
A lot of blood or pus coming from the wound
Foul odor
Fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher, or as directed by provider
It's normal to feel some stress and anxiety after a traumatic event like a gunshot wound. You may write about your character feeling anxious, angry, or depressed or having trouble sleeping or focusing. The following may also occur.
Wound continues to bleed even after putting direct pressure on it
For chest, back, or abdomen wounds:
Shortness of breath
Painful breathing
Back or abdomen pain that gets worse
Weakness
Dizziness or fainting
Redness, swelling, or fluid leaking from your wound that gets worse
Pain that gets worse
Symptoms that don’t get better, or get worse
New symptoms
Signs of Wound Infection
Pus: Medical professionals manage healthy drainage with regular dressings. But cloudy, yellowish drainage or purulent discharge with a pungent or foul odor accompanied with swelling and elevated pain is a sign of an infected wound.
Pimple: When a pimple-like crust forms on an injury, it indicates an infection. This pimple increases in size over time.
Soft Scab: While it is normal to have slightly pink or reddish skin around the injury, a scab that constantly increases in size over time could indicate an infection.
Red Area: In the initial stages, wounds appear red due to the natural healing process. But if the red area around the injured site continues to increase even after 4-5 days of an injury, it is a telltale sign of an infected wound.
Red Streak: If a red streak starts forming from the injured site towards the heart, it could be lymphangitis (inflammation of the lymphatic system). This underlying infection requires immediate medical attention.
More Pain: Normally, the pain subsides a few days after an injury or wound. Long-lasting or elevated pain even after a few days is a symptom of an infected site.
More Swelling: Similar to redness around the wound, swelling in the affected area indicates that the body’s immune system is working. But if the swelling continues even after 3-5 days, with no signs of it reducing, it indicates an infection.
Swollen Node: Generally, swollen lymph nodes indicate that a body’s immune system is fighting an illness. But the formation of a large and tender node near the injured site could be a sign of an infected wound.
Fever: After an injury or surgery, it is normal for a patient to run a low-grade fever. However, persistent high-grade fever coupled with decreased appetite and body ache is a sign of infection.
An intermediate velocity (muzzle velocity 350-650 meters per second or 1,200-2,000 feet per second) and a high velocity (muzzle velocity >600 meters per second or >2,000 feet per second) gun shot wounds are more likely to have a high risk of infection.
It has been found that gunshot wounds to the abdomen with associated colonic injuries had a worse outcome with an increased risk of developing wound infections.
Necrotizing Soft Tissue Infection. A serious, life-threatening condition. It needs treatment right away to keep it from destroying skin, muscle, and other soft tissues.
The word necrotizing comes from the Greek word "nekros."
It means "corpse" or "dead."
A necrotizing infection causes patches of tissue to die.
These infections are the result of bacteria invading the skin or the tissues under the skin. If untreated, they can cause death in hours.
Fortunately, such infections are very rare. They can quickly spread from the original infection site. So it's important to know the symptoms.
The most common symptoms of a necrotizing soft tissue infection:
Pain that hurts more than you think it should, based on the size of the wound or sore
A wound with a fever (higher than 100.4°F or 38°C) and a rapid heartbeat. This is usually more than 100 beats a minute.
Pain that extends past the edge of the wound or visible infection
Pain, warmth, skin redness, or swelling at a wound, especially if the redness is spreading rapidly and if areas are turning bluish or black
Skin blisters, sometimes with a "crackling" sensation under the skin
Pain from a skin wound that also has signs of a more severe infection, such as chills and fever
Grayish, smelly liquid draining from the wound
A small sore or pus-filled bump that is unusually painful to the touch
An area around the sore that is hot to the touch
A hard time thinking clearly, especially along with one of the other symptoms noted
A lot of sweating, especially with one of the other symptoms noted
Areas of skin at or near a wound that feel numb
A sore that is getting worse quickly, especially if you:
Are obese
Have diabetes
Have a weak immune system from using a steroid regularly
Are on chemotherapy for cancer
Are on dialysis
Have peripheral artery disease
Drink a lot of alcohol
Have poorly controlled HIV/AIDS
People with some of these symptoms are surprised to learn that they have a necrotizing soft tissue infection.
That's because it may not seem to be very severe at first.
But these infections can get worse quickly if they are not aggressively treated.

OK, EXPLAINING DABIS SCARRING because @good-lord-not-books asked
*note these are just my hcs and some medical research
I'm putting this under a cut because it's long as hell, and I apologize in advance for any typos or if it's confusing. I have no problem explaining further♡
His scars are hypertrophic. which 1) explains the discoloration. It's what happens when the smaller blood vessels become partially or fully obstructed with scar tissue. They typcially start off pinkish or light red. (like when he woke up from his coma.)
Typically the treatment for this is laser removal. But if you don't have access the color may naturally shift with age/as it natueally heals. But with continuous damage to the areas.. the scar will get darker as the veins and tissue is further injured (the deeper into the skin and possible muscle it damages)
most hyrpertophic scarring can take a year + to heal. but obviously Dabi just keeps making his worse. The scars themselves are cause by the body over producing collagen for wound healing and not actually being able to break all of it down.
Which leaves collagen fibers in the skin to harden and thicken. Hardened skin doesn't allow much give, lessening the skins elasticity over all. Which can be shown in the way his unscarred skin pulls along the edges where the dermal rings line said scars. (my thoughts on his staples acrually being dermal rings will be at the end)
That's not even going into the nerve damage systemically for him considering hes covered in that kind of scar. So when he says he can't feel a thing it's literal as the nerve endings are shot to shit. And that is only going into skin deep level.
Interal organ nerve damage is a whole other mess due to the scaringbeing from burns. As severe enough burns cause systemic damage. (will also go into atfer the scarring part)
His skin looks TIGHT on him. If he did have and semblance of sensation in his nerves it might feel like hella tight/dry skin. Also I think hypertrophic scars are an inflammation response to the body healing.
His body is literally misshapen from it. (and yes we love him the way he is) You can see in panels where the skin is probably softer where there's lack of muscle definition but can see where it's tighter or pulling over his arms/ shoulders/ribcage because the skins elasticity is non-existent. The instances where it's sifter looking is probably due to his body trying to retain as much body fat it can to keep healthy (or as healthy as it's going to get in his state.)
As far as it going right up to his lower lids and having zero tear ducts. that man has chronic dry eye like it's nobodies business. so itchy and possibly bleeding eyes isn't a shock. he probably has several counts of grand larceny in artificial tears alone.
Ok so as for his scaring being from burns, burns affect the whole body and how it works depending on the severity.
It can effect muscle tissue/muscle mass, bone structure and interior organs.
Given he seems to be perpetually giving himself 3rd degree + burns .. his respiratory system and cardiovascular system are probably shot to shit. Just from smoke inhalation and perpetual injury. (hypertrophic scars fill the veins with scar tissue remember) Assuming how deep the burn and scar tissue goes.
But we haven't seen him with much breathing issues so I'm assuming it's whatever. He has mentioned motion sickness and we've even seen him turning down food. So I can at least go into it's affects on his GI tract.
In the GI tract, burns can result in increased gastric secretions, reduced intestinal motility, decreased nutrient absorption, increased GI mucosal permeability, bacterial translocation and increased intra-abdominal pressure. If it's bad enough he may have ulcers or gi hemorrhaging. Severe burns also cause liver and intestinal damage.
The fact that he's been alive this long is wild if he's been homeless this whole time and just committing small crimes to not die. One thing that irritates me is when people think he would be incredibly unhygienic due to the scars and such.
Like do you understand how CLEAN you have to keep burn injuries to keep them from getting infected?? Even if it's layered over already damaged and scarred skin. He might smell like burnt flesh but I doubt he's letting wounds fester.
Yes he could probably just cauterize himself but that's still just burning burn wounds. Especially with 0% health insurance. I always assumed he kept breaking into the Todoroki family home when he knew no one would be there to do basic things to make sure he didn't die on the street over the years.
Quick add on to my thoughts on his staples just being dermal rings to homd his skin together/as a form of human Kinstugi.
They (the rings) are pretty rounded in the manga, surgical staples aren't nearly that large either so I always assumed human Kinstugi regardless of metal color (between manga gold or anime silver) and it was both decorative and necessary for his skin.
I just assumed wherever the rings weren't, it was just spots he couldn't reach.
it's also shown in the manga that he's adjusting/adding more along his scars.
als, in case anyone is unfamiliar with the term Kintsugi, it's this
Kintsugi (Japanese: 金継ぎ, lit. 'golden joinery'), also known as kintsukuroi (金繕い, "golden repair"), is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with urushi lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. The method is similar to the maki-e technique. Its the Japanese philosophy that the value of an object is not in its beauty, but in its imperfections, and that these imperfections are something to celebrate, not hide.
which I think suits his character very well when his piercings and dermal rings are gold looking in some of the colored manga art.
ok, I'll shut up now, ♡

Every infection, no matter how mild, has a cumulative effect on your brain, reducing gray matter and altering function. Mask up. Keep yourself and others safe from a disease that can and will cause many varied lingering issues.
by Denis Storey
Clinical relevance: New research shows that even mild COVID-19 cases in young adults can lead to changes in brain structure and function.
Researchers found reduced connectivity in key brain regions, including the left hippocampus and amygdala. These changes were linked to deficits in spatial working memory and cognitive performance. The study highlights the need for further research into long-term neurological effects of COVID-19, even in mild cases. For all the damage the pandemic’s done, it seems as if the youngest generations will pay the steepest price. The latest proof of that has emerged in new research that’s discovered that even the mildest of COVID cases among young adults can lead to changes in brain structure and function. As a result, it could pose a threat to long-term cognitive performance.
The research provides new insight into the potential neurological impact of SARS-CoV-2 in populations that avoided severe illness. The study focused on adolescents and young adults since it’s a group that’s remained relatively understudied.
Methodology The study, part of the Public Health Impact of Metal Exposure (PHIME) cohort, included 40 participants. More than a dozen of them – 13 – tested positive for COVID-19, while 27 served as controls.
The researchers enrolled the participants in a longitudinal study, which offered pre-pandemic baseline data through MRI scans and cognitive assessments. This allowed the team a unique look into pre- and post-pandemic neural outcomes.
The researchers relied on the latest neuroimaging technology, such as resting-state functional MRI (fMRI) and structural MRI, to examine shifts in brain connectivity and cortical volume.
The researchers also subjected the participants to cognitive testing focused on spatial working memory. The team conducted the assessments both before the COVID-19 pandemic and after recovery from mild COVID-19 cases. These parallel evaluations allowed for a direct comparison of brain and cognitive changes.
COVID Affected Multiple Brain Regions The study exposed notable differences between COVID-19-positive and healthy participants in five critical brain regions:
The right intracalcarine cortex. The right lingual gyrus. The left hippocampus. The left amygdala. And the left frontal orbital cortex. Perhaps most notably, the left hippocampus revealed a significant drop in cortical volume among those who’d tested positive for COVID.
Researchers also found that the left amygdala showed much lower connectivity in participants who’d contracted COVID-19. This lack of connectivity appeared to be linked to deficits in spatial working memory. From this, the researchers inferred that even mild COVID-19 infection could impair one’s ability to perform tasks that rely on short-term memory.
Backing Up Previous Research The study results echo a mounting body of literature that suggests that COVID-19, despite its nature as a respiratory virus, appears to have far-reaching neurological implications. Earlier research has linked more serious cases of the virus with reduced gray matter thickness and cerebral volume loss, particularly in the hippocampus and amygdala.
The researchers add that the brain changes they observed could be related to the neurotoxic effects of SARS-CoV-2, which could have a lingering influence even among milder caes of infection. The paper’s authors theorize that it could be because the virus might be invading the brain through the olfactory system. That could cause inflammation and damage in important neural regions.
On the other hand, the authors also posit that the social and psychological stressors of the pandemic – whether its the social isolation or the lingering uncertainties – could be a factor in the changes appearing in the brains of the COVID-positive participants.
These results underscore the necessity for more research into the long-term neurological effects of the pandemic, especially among its younger survivors.
Moving Forward Finally, the research team hints that further investigation could clarify whether these neurological changes are permanent, and – if not – how long they might last.
The authors conclude by insisting that this study offers crucial new insight into the potentially long-term ramifications of COVID on the brain, even in mild cases. As we struggle with life in the shadow of the pandemic, a better grasp of what it means for everyone who’s been infected could help us develop more effective treatments.

Kimetsu no Yaiba merch and a chance to get nerdy with it? Don’t mind if I do.
Bath time!!
This set of a towel, badge to hang on a bag like one you might take to your local bathhouse, and Swordsmith Village onsen-inspired bath salt was originally sold at the traveling Gotouge gallery, but many of those items were put up for sale again recently at a handful of Shonen Jump stores. I highly enjoyed the very flamboyant bath bomb I got at an Ufotable gallery, so I decided to give it a shot. I like onsen too, and the one in the Swordsmith Village is supposed to be especially nice, right?
In order to be classified as such in the modern Reiwa era, naturally occurring onsen must be at least 25 degrees C when the water emerges from the earth and have a minimum concentration of 1 to 19 certain minerals (amounts per 1kg of water vary depending on the mineral). If they have enough dissolved mineral content to be an onsen but don’t have a particularly high concentration of any mineral, they are classified as simple, low-alkaline onsen. So like, still nice, but harder to brag about. Locals will brag anyway. However, if the water has a high enough concentration of a particular kind of mineral, then it will be classified into different categories. The locals will really brag about these ones and their many health and beauty benefits, and even though there have been studies of some sort, it’s safest to say “purported” benefits. If you want to get nerdy with it, start here.
So anyway, the manga didn’t get that detailed, but, Ufotable wrote this in about the Swordsmith Village onsen: “It can heal anything, like cuts, burns, hemorrhoids and bleeding piles, constipation, gout, broken heart, anything.”
However, this is a product from a manga gallery, and Ufotable did not necessarily influence the making of it. Going by this product (which I’ll bet Gotouge had no influence on the production of), here are some things we might suppose. This particular product is a mix of sodium sulfate, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, and sodium thiosulfate. If you’re only bathing in it and not drinking it (and the package says not to drink it), then it purportedly would help with cuts, bruises, burns, skin ailments, dry skin, reducing inflammation, muscle pain, joint pain, sensitivity to the cold, depression, and the ever mysterious “women’s ailments.” If you were to drink clean onsen waters like these, it purportedly could also help with constipation, too.
Although it’s not enough to consider it something your body would absorb any benefit from, there is enough sulfur in this product to give it a fun(ky) smell. Enough of a sulfur smell to make your brain think, “yay, onsen,” without quite enough to think “ew, rotten eggs.” Now, this suggests that the onsen in the Swordsmith Village also has that mineral component, which would also purportedly make it good for treating acne and diabetes. This might also be one of the components that made it hard for Tanjirou to sniff out a secret training weapon.
So like, that covers a lot of the claims Ufotable wrote in. Maybe to cover that gout claim, it’s also carbonated or radioactive. Who knows.
There’s one more thing this product includes: artificial color! For the onsen nerd, there’s a lot more to categorizing onsen than just their mineral content. There’s also how slick or grainy the water feels, how clear or cloudy it is, and what color it appears! Although many are known for being crystal clear, there’s a range of tints, including dramatic ones like reddish-orange, aquamarine, and black. In this case, they merely recreated the effect for fun. With a base of red, yellow, and blue, the powder starts a nice rosy pink when it’s dry in the package, and then---HOLY YORIICHI WHAT IS THAT
That is soooooo not an appealing color, ohhhh my gooooshhhh
Although it all mostly mixes into a yellowish-brownish cloud, there are random bits of magenta or teal or even purple-ish-ness. The tiny specs that wound up on the edges of my bathtub made it look like they chose some strange way to page homage to Mitsuri, Muichiro, and Genya all at once.
Anyway, the color eventually settled to more of a muddy yellow and I got in. The sulfur scent was only enough to be pleasant, the texture was somewhat on the silky side but not dramatically so, and I was healed of all my wounds and ailments. Purportedly.

bathing
good personal hygiene is essential for overall health and wellbeing. this post surrounds regular bathing/showering, what it actually helps with and what practices you can consider.
regular bathing/showering helps prevent infections. when you wash your body, you remove dirt, sweat, and bacteria that can lead to skin infections or other health issues.
you should bathe/shower daily. this routine helps maintain cleanliness, remove sweat and keep skin fresh. daily bathing is especially important if you're physically active, live in a hot climate, or have a job that exposes you to dirt or pollutants.
some individuals may find it more beneficial to shower/bathe only every other day. this can work well for those with sensitive skin or conditions like eczema. it allows the skin's natural oils to replenish without excessive drying. another group that may choose this is those that live in especially cold climates.
adjust your bathing frequency based on your activities. after intense workouts, swimming, or spending time outdoors, it is essential to wash off sweat and dirt properly.
proper hygiene helps control body odour (bo). bacteria on the skin can break down sweat and produce unpleasant smells. regular bathing keeps these bacteria in check.
accumulation of dead skin cells can lead to skin irritation, inflammation, and sores. bathing helps cleanse your skin, removing these dead cells and reducing the risk of skin-related problems.
don't confuse bathing with other hygiene practices, such as washing your face or hands. these have their own importance and frequency.
so, what is the best way to bathe?
start by running the water to an ideal temperature. dermatologists recommend lukewarm or slightly warm water for showering. avoid extremely hot water, as it can dry out your skin.
before applying any soap, do a quick rinse to wet your skin.
use a loofah, washcloth, or your hands to apply bar soap or body wash. begin at your neck and shoulders, then work your way down your body. don’t forget your legs and between your toes.
if you’re washing your hair, apply shampoo to your scalp and the nape of your neck. you don’t need to apply shampoo directly to the hair ends; it will cleanse them as you rinse. a tip if you're washing your hair is to wash it before you wash your body. this can help prevent acne on the back and shoulders.
apply conditioner to soften your hair strands, paying special attention to the ends.
switch to lukewarm or cool water for the final rinse. this helps seal conditioner into your hair and invigorates your body.
towel-dry slightly before applying moisturizer to your body. moisturizing right after the shower helps seal in hydration.
as humans, we don't like to admit when our habits are up to par. you must master the basics! how are you supposed to grow if you lack a strong foundation?
i hope this post was helpful.

Hormones & Weight loss (part 1) : Cortisol
Cortisol
Cortisol, also known as the stress hormone, is a circadian hormone, meaning it follows a 24-hour cycle. Its levels naturally increase in the morning with sunlight and decrease in the evening to support sleep. It works in tandem with melatonin to regulate your sleep-wake cycle. However, chronic stress and inflammation can lead to consistently elevated cortisol levels, making weight loss difficult and promoting abdominal/visceral fat storage.
🩵 What It Does: Chronic stress increases fat storage, especially around the abdomen, and heightens cravings for sugary or fatty foods.
🩵 Signs & Symptoms: Fatigue, weight gain around the abdomen, sugar cravings, sleep disturbances, anxiety, and feeling “wired but tired.”
🩵 How to Support:
• Sunlight before screen light: Upon waking, spend 5–20 minutes in natural daylight. This could include a morning walk, journaling outdoors, or simply sitting on your balcony or outdoor stairs.
• Sleep hygiene: Optimize your sleep by keeping a consistent bedtime, lowering the temperature in your bedroom before sleeping, and avoiding naps during the day.
• Stress management: Engage in activities that align with your belief system, such as prayer, guided meditation, or breathing exercises. Spend time on meaningful or creative activities, connect with loved ones (including pets), and take walks in nature.

Herb Spotlight: Thyme
History & Origins
Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) is a perennial herb that has been cherished for its culinary, medicinal, and spiritual properties for thousands of years. Originating from the Mediterranean region, thyme was used by the ancient Egyptians for embalming, while the Greeks and Romans valued it for its antiseptic properties and burned it as incense in temples to purify spaces.
The name "thyme" is believed to come from the Greek word "thymos," meaning courage or strength. Roman soldiers would bathe in thyme-infused water to gain bravery before battles. In the Middle Ages, it was also tucked under pillows to ward off nightmares and given to knights and warriors as a symbol of courage.
Where & How to Grow Thyme
Thyme is a resilient, sun-loving herb that thrives in well-drained soil and can be grown both indoors and outdoors.
Climate: Thyme prefers warm, sunny climates with at least 6 hours of sunlight daily. It's drought-tolerant and does well in zones 5-9.
Soil: Grows best in well-drained, sandy soil with a slightly alkaline pH. Avoid overwatering, as thyme doesn't tolerate soggy soil.
Growing from seeds: Start thyme seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost, or plant cuttings directly in the garden in spring or early summer. Thyme can also be propagated easily by root division.
Spacing: Plant thyme about 12 inches apart in a sunny location. It can also be grown in pots or as a ground cover, as it only grows to about 6-12 inches tall.
Harvesting: Harvest thyme when the plants are dry, preferably in the morning, by cutting sprigs just before the flowers bloom. The leaves can be used fresh or dried for later use.
Health Benefits
Thyme offers numerous medicinal benefits when used orally or topically.
Oral Uses:
Respiratory support: Thyme is a natural expectorant, helping to clear mucus and ease symptoms of coughs, colds, bronchitis, and sore throats. Drinking thyme tea or using thyme honey is particularly effective.
Antimicrobial properties: Thyme contains thymol, an essential oil with antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. It helps fight infections and boost the immune system.
Digestive aid: Thyme is excellent for relieving indigestion, bloating, and gas. It can also help regulate gut bacteria and support digestive health.
Antioxidant support: Rich in vitamin C and other antioxidants, thyme helps reduce oxidative stress, supporting overall wellness and aging.
Topical Uses:
Skin health: Thyme can be used as a natural antiseptic for treating wounds, cuts, and infections. It also helps soothe skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and fungal infections due to its antimicrobial properties.
Anti-inflammatory: When applied topically, thyme can reduce inflammation and swelling, making it useful for treating skin irritations or minor burns.
Hair growth: Thyme oil is often used in natural hair care products for stimulating hair growth and treating dandruff due to its antimicrobial properties.
Magical Properties
Thyme has long been associated with purification, protection, and courage in magical practices.
Purification: Thyme is used in cleansing rituals, either burned as incense or added to baths to cleanse one's aura or energy field. It is believed to purify spaces, removing negative energies or spirits.
Protection: Thyme is often carried or placed in doorways for protection from harm or ill intentions. It can also be worn as a charm to ward off negative energies and bad dreams.
Courage & Strength: Thyme is associated with bravery. In magical workings, it’s used to summon strength and courage, especially when facing difficult situations or challenges. It can be carried as a talisman or burned before spell work to empower the caster.
Healing: Thyme is often used in spells related to healing, vitality, and renewal. It's added to healing potions, incense, and sachets to promote physical and emotional recovery.
Love & Attraction: In love magic, thyme is believed to attract love and affection. It’s often included in love sachets, charms, or baths to draw positive relationships and strengthen existing ones.
Using Thyme in Your Practice
Thyme tea: Brewed as tea, thyme can be sipped to promote healing, clear the mind, and fortify the spirit before rituals.
Burning thyme: Burn dried thyme as an offering to deities, or use the smoke to cleanse and purify spaces, objects, or yourself.
Thyme oil: Dilute thyme essential oil in a carrier oil and use it in healing rituals or anointing candles to promote health and protection.
Thyme is a versatile herb with deep roots in history, known for its medicinal, culinary, and magical uses. Whether you're growing it in your garden or using it in your magical practice, thyme offers powerful healing, protective, and purifying qualities that make it a must-have in any herbalist's or witch’s collection.

Not sure if this has been asked before, but do Time Lords get scars, or do their injuries (minor ones that do not lead to regeneration, of course) heal without a trace?
Do Time Lords get scars?
Gallifreyan skin shares a lot of similarities with human skin, but its got some unique assets that make it pretty resilient and less prone to scarring.
🧬 Gallifreyan Skin Structure
Epidermis: The outermost layer - it's thicker than human epidermis, with a denser keratin providing enhanced protection. It's also got an additional layer, unique to Gallifreyans, making it more durable.
Dermis: The layer where most of the action happens, supporting sensory functions and immune response. It's slightly thinner than in humans, but it has more collagen and elastin. It's also got a special layer that gives a "trampoline" effect to repel foreign objects.
Hypodermis: This has subcutaneous fat and additional collagen, acting as cushion, insulator, and energy reserve. It's got more fat than in humans to increase resilience and heat control.
🛠️ Healing Mechanisms
Gallifreyan healing processes are obviously advanced, with their unique skin structure facilitating rapid and efficient recovery from injuries.
Bleeding: Capillary networks in Gallifreyan skin are denser, leading to faster clotting for minor wounds. The increased number of capillaries means more immediate blood supply to injured areas.
Inflammation: The area swells as blood rushes in, bringing essential nutrients and oxygen to aid repair. Similar to humans, but Gallifreyans experience a more intense and effective inflammatory response.
Proliferation: New tissue replaces damaged tissue, closing the wound. The process involves the rapid multiplication of cells, similar to human wound healing but faster due to advanced cellular mechanisms.
Remodelling: Tissue remodels to restore the normal structure and function of the skin. This is the stage that determines whether they'll scar.
⚔️ Scarring in Gallifreyans
The likelihood and extent of scarring depend on the injury's depth and severity:
Minor Injuries (Epidermal Layer - superficial) - Typically heal without scarring within 2 days (or faster with treatment or a healing coma).
Moderate Injuries (Dermal Layer - deeper) - May leave minor scars, usually healing within 7-14 days depending on the treatment.
Major Injuries (Hypodermal Tissue and Bone - deepest) - Likely to scar due to deeper tissue damage, needing up to 28 days to heal without treatment. The presence of subcutaneous fat and specialised fluid provides additional protection but doesn't entirely prevent scarring.
🔍 Additional Factors
Foreign Objects: Gallifreyan skin expels foreign objects by effectively 'pushing' out objects that penetrate the dermal and subcutaneous layers.
Healing Coma and Zero Room: Advanced methods like entering a healing coma or using a Zero Room can significantly accelerate healing and reduce scarring.
🏫 So ...
Time Lords generally heal rapidly and effectively, avoiding scars from minor injuries. However, more severe injuries can result in scarring. Their unique physiology allows for high resilience and recovery, making scars relatively rare but not impossible.

BIRTHDAY JUPITER SERIES
Jupiter in Aries Natal - Girl Born with the Headache from Hell
written by Astrolocherry
People born with Jupiter in Aries feel like the world is at her feet and under her command, until her wings suddenly burn out and her feet crash back down to the ground. There's a vigour for life that is resistant to the limitations that hold other people back. Jupiter in Aries arms her with a celestial guard. Your diamond who doesn't mind for rough conditions or a little blood. She is inquisitive and curious to a level that near sends her parents mad. And it can be a contagious type of inspiration that is a lifelong reminiscent of the spirit of the young. Self-confidence is a potion mixed with the courage, sass, and the spunk to confront her fears and survive the toughest conditions. She is competitive to a relentless degree, winning is the only reason for actually competing. And she can turn even the smallest of daily activities into a competition with someone. When victory is in reach, she seems to summon an extra dose of supernatural adrenaline power, a second wind comes more like a hurricane with fierce determination to win. Organic talent for sports, usually recognisable at an early age is a common Jupiter karmic gift in Aries. These abilities express across wide spectrums and shine in high pressure conditions. Though a Jupiter in Aries temperament is more likely to prefer solo-sports that prevent her from having to rely on others, allow personal goal setting, and the prize will be all her's in the end.
The Jupiter in Aries person likes to stay in motion and doesn't care much for those who can't keep up with her. She will stop at nothing to get the outcome she wants, whether exalting herself by reaching an aspiration, or through acts of mischief, and sometimes vengeance. Her vitriol is a natural curse when directed toward another person, and she must stay armed against those who know how to provoke her. This can overwhelmingly occur with the parental figures and be especially volatile during the formative years. Sometimes, this can be instigated or accompanied by deliberate attempts to be made to feel inadequate to a female sibling.
In the mythological story, Zeus ordered Ares to break his head open to relieve an excruciating headache. Jupiter in Aries individuals can be subject to frequent headaches and debilitating migraines, along with sharp pain behind the eyes.
The condition of Jupiter in Aries tends to require self-inflection points relating to troubles with impulsivity coupled with a grandiosity that can disregard reason and well-informed advice. Along with developing skills that reduce the fight or fight response, learning to pause and reflect rather than react also serves her well. These individuals often require substantial physical outlets that alleviate the inflammation of high stress, agitation, and general frustration at other people. There's usually a therapeutic connection with dogs that may provide a calming effect and a companion with equal energy to expel.
The Jupiter genie grants a gift for enchanted speculation. She has the foresight to spot a fortuitous opportunity when it arrives, usually through a vision or an inclination that she has felt before and it served her well. Immoderation is often the affliction that compromises her game. Eventually, she refuses to be cut by losses and challenges bad habits with objectives and head games. She is certainly wired to be reckless and senseless at times, but she goes head first into anything so soon that she learns early, and often develops a street wise nature beyond her time. Astrology could never predict what the Jupiter in Aries could ever do next.

Chemical Reaction [Part One] Allure [Shang Tsung]
A/n: Again, I apologize for posting these one-shots in separate pieces. It's easier for me because so many scene jumps in my writing annoy me. I have a problem, I know. Please enjoy.
Warning(s): Female reader insert, worry, Shang being Shang, reader can manipulate flora, lewd thoughts, coy behavior, manipulative comfort.
No Minors Allowed!!
Echinacea…Lavender…Calend–
You press your lips into a thin line. Where are the Calendula seeds? Peering into the wax paper envelope where you had stored them, you regrettably confirm that there are none left. When did you last use them, you wonder in puzzlement. You suppose it does not matter in the end. What matters is that you are fresh out and in need of more.
The few Calendulas that you have are not yet ready, though, with your magic, you can accelerate their growth instantaneously. What takes time is drying out the flowers and giving the seeds time to brown before harvesting them, then replanting. Rinse, repeat. Normally you have all the time in the world to work, but the Queen of Edenia, Sindel, wants you to prepare balms and salves for the approaching tournament.
You could go without Calendula balm, you reckon. It is used as a pain and inflammation reducer, but without it, you would be unprepared. What are you to do, though? In order for your magic to work, you need a source; nature, seeds. Edenia is rich with exotic flowers, but the day would be wasted locating them. You suppose you could buy seeds from the market in Sun Do, but…
Shang.
Now you remember. You had given him seeds and taught him how to grow them after an experimental incident left his hands blistered and in need of care.
His laboratory is not far, you note; the walk you have made several times before. While the sorcerer is often snarky, he is a man to be admired based on his skill and magic. Not to mention, he is extremely desirable. You like him well enough, so without much hesitancy, you leave your house and walk to the dilapidated tower where he conducts whatever experiments he does to benefit the royal family.
The low creek of the water wheels outside permeate the warm air as you approach the front door. You knock to be polite, but seeing as Shang Tsung is typically lost in his work when you stop by to visit, you saunter on in, searching around the bottom level for him. He does not seem to be at his desk, nor is he roaming around where you can see him, though this does not mean that he is not home; there are two other levels he could be on. You have never been on the upper floors before; you have no business exploring them.
“Shang! Are you here!?” You shout.
He answers soon after.
“I will be but a moment!”
You leave him to wrap up whatever it is that he is doing and saunter over to his mahogany desk near the stairs. As you wait, you tinker with a bonsai tree resting on a stack of old books that you can not make out the names of. You do not remember seeing it the last time you had come to visit, but that had been a fortnight ago. Regardless, it is budding. You raise your hand, using your magic to accelerate its growth. In awe, you watch as the buds instantaneously bloom into beautiful pink flowers, filling the stale air with a soft floral scent.
It certainly gives the room more color now.
“I see you have made yourself at home,” Shang Tsung states.
You turn and watch him descend the stairs.
“I apologize. I should have asked you first.” Noticing the look of annoyance on his face, you frown. “Did I…come at a bad time?”
“Not at all. To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?” Shang Tsung asks. His expression softens as he approaches the desk, but there is still a furrow in his brow.
You do not want to exacerbate his mood, so you cut to the chase.
“I ran out of Calendula seeds and I haven't the time to dry out the few flowers that I do have. I was hoping that you might have some.”
“Perhaps,” Shang Tsung drawls.
You pout. Is he seriously toying with you?
I swear he's a sadist.
“Please, Shang. I would forever be in your debt.”
He smirks, a sure sign that you have humored him.
“Wait here.”
Leaving your sight, he returns a short time later with a wax paper envelope and hands it to you. The squid-shaped seeds of the Calendula plant are brown and stored well, making you sigh in relief.
“I'm so grateful.”
“I presume so,” Shang Tsung utters.
He tilts his head in curiosity and looks you over, then meets your eyes again.
“Are you troubled with something? You can confide in me, you know.”
Of course. Every time you feel burdened, the sorcerer can tell. And every time he offers for you to voice your concerns to him. With an uneasy breath, you lean against the edge of the desk. Aside from being unprepared, there is something deeper eating at you.
“I suppose it is the tournament I am worried about. I'm never so unprepared, but also it feels rather pointless. Outworld so often loses to Earthrealm.”
Shang Tsung grins, then places his hand on your shoulder as if to comfort you, an act that makes your heart race.
“Do you doubt Empress Sindel?”
Your eyes widen in shock.
“No. That is not what I'm saying.”
You are simply trying to express how pointless it is to stress so much over the matter. The reason for the tournament you understand. It is to maintain peace. If Lord Liu Kang, who preaches peace, wanted to conquer Outworld with his champions, you imagine it sadly would not be hard since no one in the realm has yet to best him. You doubt this will happen, but life is sometimes cruel.
I just hope the Empress knows what she is doing.
Shang Tsung grins.
“Your concerns show just cause.” He wets his lips, then leans in closer. The warm and sweet scent of jasmine invades your senses. “Would you like for me to help you ease your stress, my dear?”
An embarrassed heat spreads to your face. Is he low-key asking if you want for him to fuck you? All of a sudden you feel lightheaded, as though you stood up too fast. The sudden thought of him thrusting his cock to the base inside of you sends a tickle of arousal through your body.
“A-are you sure?”
What if he says yes? The question then remains, do you want him to? A part of you is unsure, but the other funnily enough welcomes the idea.
His soft chuckle snaps you from your thoughts.
“Of course, my dear. There are an abundance of elixirs that I can make to soothe your worries.”
You are discomfited.
“Oh…right.”
Shang Tsung raises a curious brow, then as though it dawns on him, he smirks.
“Your thoughts are rather…wicked. Are they always such?”
“No,” you answer quickly. Honestly, you do not understand why your thoughts immediately went to something sexual with him. It's like they are in tune with your body. “Your tone was misleading.”
“My tone.” Shang Tsung snorts. “I always speak in this tone.”
Does he? You try to remember a time in which he had spoken to another in the same coy tone, but there is not a memory that you can compare it to.
“I will manage,” you reassure him. “Thank you.”
You avert your eyes to the seeds in your hand, then clear your throat. It is strangely dry and tight.
“I should return home. There is a lot to do.”
His hand tightens around your shoulder, then he releases you and takes a step back.
“If you need me, I am always here.”
You nod to show that you have taken his words into consideration, then with trembling legs, you walk to the door. As you exit the tower, the scent of nature fills your nostrils; earthy and rich. After a few deep breaths, you feel much better. Clear headed.
How strange. Could it have been the jasmine?
Or something else?

How to make gelatin gummies ✨
Don’t read if you’re a vegan 💞
Gelatin is a protein made from collagen, which comes from animal parts like skin, bones, and cartilage. It’s made by boiling these parts to break down collagen, then drying it into a powder. When mixed with water and cooled, it turns into a jelly like substance.
Benefits of Gelatin Gummies
• Gelatin is rich in collagen, which can improve skin elasticity, hydration, and reduce signs of aging like wrinkles.
• Collagen in gelatin helps promote stronger, healthier hair & nails.
• Gelatin contains amino acids like glycine and proline, which support joint cartilage, reduce stiffness and enhance mobility.
• The amino acids in gelatin can soothe and strengthen the gut lining, supporting digestion and reducing inflammation.
• Glycine, found in gelatin, improves sleep quality.
• Gelatin provides a source of collagen and protein, which are key for bone strength and repair.
• A great low calorie way to increase your protein intake.
Tips for Making Gelatin Gummies
Add extra benefits by including ingredients like:
• Vitamin C for immunity and better collagen absorption.
• Fruit juices for flavor and antioxidants.
• Honey or maple syrup for natural sweetness.
Ingredients:
• 1.5 cups milk, coconut water or juice of your choice
• 4 Tbsp grass-fed gelatin
• Honey or maple syrup (to taste)
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over your preferred liquid and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. This helps the gelatin absorb the liquid and dissolve better.
2. Pour the bloomed gelatin and liquid into a saucepan. Heat gently on low, stirring constantly until the gelatin fully dissolves (don’t let it boil).
3. Stir in honey or maple syrup to sweeten. Mix until everything is smooth and lump free.
4. Pour the mixture into silicone molds or a dish. Place in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours or until fully set.
5. Pop the gummies out of the molds or cut into squares if set in a dish. Store in the fridge for up to a week!
