Dick stares at him. "Huh."

"Is that why you help?" He asks, getting more spring rolls.

"Yeah. Once someone becomes a ghost, word gets out quick, and they come to me. Always tatling about unfairness and justice." The kid waves the words around, rolling his eyes.

Dick just pretens to he uninterested, despite his mind racing at the new info. He is piecing past moments together, every shadow leaping away, every note with tips, leads and—

Huh.

"Do you... like it? Doing all that?" Richard approaches thus carefully, brows furrowed at the kid opposite of him.

Danny moves his head, giving a 'so-so' answer. "It's not much to like, I can see ghosts, and they know it and use it. If it brings them to peace or whatever– well, that's just a plus."

Dick stares. He places his chopsticks down and looks at Danny worried.

In turn, the kid sighs. "Sometimes gifts become curses the longer you have it."

And Dick understands.

Mind made up, he throws a pair of keys at the kid, watching fondly as the other catches them with confusion.

"Next time use these, instead of entering through the window."

Danny mock-salutes with a shit eating grin. "Yes, Officer grayson."

So fast forward to you telling him to stop twice after tugging on your hair, who doesn’t take heed to your warning tugs on it again extra hard, harder than the other times, your arm comes barreling forward, palm connecting with his face.

“I told you to stop so many times just leave me alone.” You scurry off not wanting to be caught and punished leaving him behind, who’s face turned red for two reasons that day.

After that he never touched your hair and followed behind you quietly wherever he could, face turning a peach shade whenever you side eyed him. That was the day he knew he fell in love.

my aot ending hot take is that eren is actually a p complicated character in that he's human and hence has multiple motivations

yes he wanted his loved ones safe and yes he wanted to destroy the world out of spite. and yeah, he probably internally uses those motivations to justify his own actions. he's a guy with time as a flat circle in his brain who was traumatised as a kid and never learnt to be any more mature.

it's the same way he wants Mikasa to be happy without him but also he wants her to pine after him when he dies. the same way he wants to sacrifice himself but also doesn't want to die.

I think the only "bad" read of his character is to say he exclusively had one motivation for any of his actions
