"Rossi? She Italian?"

This time Eddie hasn’t even bothered to bring his tools around. Sure, Pepa is still luring him with requests to fix her pipes, her washing machine, her bookshelves, her fridge, her car, and a number of things Eddie could only fuck up worse. But they both know what this really is about. Well, except for the bookshelves but she really only needed an extra set of hands for that one, which Eddie was happy to provide. Even if he was rewarded with the worst afternoon so far, one that had Pepa rolling her eyes by then end of it.

"Sí, Edmundo," Pepa says. "After all the nice Mexican women you did not meet for more than one date, I thought why not a nice Italian man?"

"Why not–wait, man?" Eddie's not sure he can believe his ears. “Tía!” He pulls Pepa into the kitchen before he even sees guests. “Why?” Why in God’s name would she try to set him up with a man?

“Really, Eddie?” she says and her look makes him feel like he’s missing something obvious. He doesn’t know what though and doubles down. “Why, Tía?”

Pepa looks up to the ceiling and says something under her breath so fast he cannot catch it. It certainly involves Dios. But she doesn’t tell him, instead she gently squeezes his wrist, once. “Just give it a try,” she says and Eddie knows that any protest is futile. “He’s a firefighter too, you have a lot in common.”

So he follows her into the living room where a petite woman about Pepa’s age, possibly a bit older, is sitting next to a man who is most definitely not petite. The man rises as they enter but the woman stays seated; she’s in a wheelchair, Eddie sees.

“This is Maria Rossi,” Pepa starts introducing them. “My nephew, Eddie Diaz.”

“It’s nice to meet you, ma’am,” Eddie says, well-behaved as he is, though his smile feels more like he’s baring his teeth.

"Tommy Kinard," the man says before Pepa can and holds out a hand for Eddie to shake.

"That doesn't sound very Italian," Eddie says before his mind can catch up with his mouth. Tommy is a very handsome man and his grip is strong and sure. It almost makes Eddie feel safe but that's ridiculous.

“My mother’s Italian,” Tommy says with a tilt of his head. “She didn’t keep the name though.”

Tommy is very tall and–and big, about as tall as Buck but somehow even bigger, and Buck has been upping his workout continuously. He has such delicate features though; his cheekbones look like you could cut yourself on them. And that is the moment that Eddie realises there must be something wrong with him, that he’s probably delirious if such thoughts enter his mind. He puts them away in a neat parcel that he won’t open again. Ever.

Tommy’s expressionless face shifts and he’s smiling and–oh no. Eddie tries to bind the parcel tighter but there are laugh lines around Tommy’s face and he–he does—Eddie doesn’t know what to call it. He scrunches his face up in a way that makes Eddie want to keep seeing that.

“I’m going to need my hand back, Eddie,” he says and Eddie realises he’s still holding it. He knows he’s blushing furiously as he lets go, mumbles an apology and they sit down. This is off to a good start already.

The afternoon goes fine, actually. Better than fine, maybe. Yes, of course it’s also extremely awkward. How could it not be? Tommy and Eddie talk less than their aunts and they are busy praising their nephews and trying to make them seem like the most eligible bachelor. So yes, it definitely is awkward but Tommy does seem intrigued when Pepa mentions Eddie’s cooking—and no, it is not as good as she makes it seem but it also is much better than it used to be, so Eddie doesn’t step in. And he can’t help but get excited when Maria talks about Tommy having a muay thai set-up at home. Pepa does give him a disapproving eye—fair enough—but Eddie is interested in that. Which honestly is more than he could say than some of the other dates Pepa’s set up with the help of all the tías in Los Angeles.

They start talking—Eddie and Tommy—and Eddie doesn’t notice how much time has passed until he sees Pepa’s smug look as the conversation reaches a lull. Tommy and Eddie have a lot in common, as it turns out. Down to Tommy working at the 118 until about a year before Eddie joined. What are the odds?

Eddie doesn’t care that Tommy is older than him—not that this would matter in the first place; they will agree to meet up for one date at best and that will be it—it actually makes him feel better. Apparently you are never too old for your aunt’s well-meant interference.

The afternoon starts coming to an end but Eddie does have one thing he needs to make sure before he agrees to give Tommy his number (who is he kidding though? Maria and Pepa have exchanged numbers for them already), something that could get him out of this before it ever becomes a date and Pepa couldn’t even say anything, would agree probably.

“I have a son,” he says, “he’s thirteen.”

That is not a question, but Tommy knows what Eddie’s asking. “I don’t have children but I keep babysitting my nieces and nephew—three of them—when my cousins are busy. I love hanging out with them,” and Eddie thinks he’s sincere about that. He has been hit on by enough people and tried to get rid of them by saying he’s a single father to know what fake interest in children looks like. Eddie doesn’t need Tommy to be father yet—and what the fuck is wrong with him? He knows he’s been putting unfair expectations on Ana, on needing her to be a mother to Chris. He won’t deny that he’s been assessing the parenthood aptitudes of all the women whose tías know Pepa. And it makes sense: whoever he’s dating won’t just have to be a partner to him but will need to get along with Chris too. But thinking about Tommy as a father—making him one, essentially? This early? Eddie’s clearly not as recovered from his last shift as he thought.

The only person Eddie’s met who immediately became a partner to Eddie and a friend to Chris, to help him with Chris if Eddie needs him to—that person is Buck. When Ana got called Chris’s mother, Eddie panicked because he just could not see them as a family, still cannot. Buck though…Buck is always there for Eddie and Chris. It would be nice to have that in a romantic partner too.

They agree to go on a date next week, when both of their shifts align to have a day off and ample time to sleep beforehand. Tommy asks if it’s fine if he chooses the location and Eddie is more than happy to let Tommy handle it. Eddie would ask Tommy if they can meet up for a sparring session but Pepa would probably have his head for that and it would also not be suitable for a first date, presumably.

Tommy though seems like a gentleman—a fact that charms Eddie, oddly enough. He can probably think of something appropriate for a first date. They shake hands at the door as Tommy and Maria leave and once again Eddie is reluctant to let go of Tommy’s hand but this time he manages to not make a fool of himself. Or at least less so. But there’s a sparkle in Tommy’s eyes that makes him think it’s fine.

Eddie watches them drive away and wants to turn around to head back into the house to grab his stuff and drive home to cook dinner for Chris and Buck. But Pepa’s smug face stops him in his tracks.

“What?” he says.

Pepa just rolls her eyes, pats his shoulder, twice, and then walks into the house without saying anything.

Whatever.

look, not to be a hater but the whole ekko/jinx alternate universe situation only proves that jinx was only ever loved entirely and completely by silco, that's kinda the point of how tragic jinx really is as a character,

vi either only sees her little sister out of guilt/sense of duty mixed with a desperate need to come back to something or as consequences to her own actions(taking away agency from jinx in the process);

ekko sees her through the eyes of an idealist which is exactly what he is and that's not bad by itself, but it makes her either A Problem or Someone That Needs Saving, that's what's going on in his head after that AU he transported to. he's comparing jinx to powder and he likes powder much better, so he wants jinx to be powder or to reignite the powder in her - basically, he thinks how vi used to think;

isha is a complicated matter because she did show kindness and affection towards jinx that wasn't equal to anyone else's, it was pure and idolizing, she loved what she knew of jinx.

the people of zaun don't love her, not by a long shot. she became a symbol to some(as we can notice in the reunion by vander's statue) and overall the assumption that she would get involved more after her attack and silco's death is a fair one; that doesn't mean they like her,

sevika maintains a connection to jinx through grief and a sense of helplessness along with familiarity, silco's death affected jinx's psyche but it also affected sevika's dream of zaun, they feel left behind by him;

vander... well, he only got to see powder and warwick quite literally just had the memories,

the ONLY character we see that meets her as powder and stays with her as jinx is silco; yes, he isn't a good guy and he does cause the whole separation, he sharpened her edges to make her into a weapon, he lied to her and manipulated her at times, none of these things exclude the fact he does love her so strongly, with zero conditions.

she fucks up in missions, she does as she pleases around zaun, she kills their people, she stabs him in the eye, has psychotic episodes and breakdowns, she kidnaps him, ties him down, SHOOTS HIM, she doubts him and his love, keeps running after the past when he's done everything to strengthen her and she was, at a point, the only thing keeping him from his dream of an independent zaun - none of these perceived sins and flaws made him wish for anyone other than her, as she is.

all silco wanted was to keep her, while everyone else either wants another version of her or none at all. that's the tragic part, even if she suddenly decided to be good, she would feel like a burden for not being entirely like people want her to be.

If it wasn't for the TMAGP ARG snippets I probably wouldn't be as obsessed about Sam but oh my goddd with what tiny we know about him I'm not over it. He's got a canon birthday (!!! He's 33 at the start of the show! It's p cool to know that tbh!) so we know when the Institute burned down, he was 9 year old. So at nine, maximum, he went through the Institute's child experiment. That's age he went through potentially a version of the Milgrim experiment! Mr. Spider whom, this child might have actively tortured someone because he was told to?? And that's probably the terrible event that was brought up in the interview but maybe it wasn't! Maybe it's something worse!! Oh no!!!

The guy scored the highest in empathy in the entire test group at 98% and now his job is experiencing other people's horrors like of course he can't help but look into them, of course he can't help but internalize them when Alice has warned him of what can happen, I'm so worried about this man!!!

Nicole and Dante don’t have confirmed ages, however they do have implied ages that leave the impression of an age gap. Nicole and Garroth were fiancés multiple years ago (Zane gave a more specific number when he confronted Garroth aftwr Donna and Logan’s wedding, I just don’t remember what), and when he was met Dante was fresh out of the guard academy (which most assume to mean somewhere within the 18-22 age range) which means he is implied to be years younger than Garroth and Laurence since they have been guards for years.

So with all this information, it just leaves a handful of interpretations.

Nicole is Garroth’s age, being years older than Dante. This is what a lot of people assume, and lead some to having issues with MCD Dancole because of that gap

Garroth was engaged to Nicole when she was Much younger than him (which honestly given the fantasy medieval vibes MCD has, wouldn’t be a large leap in logic)

Or Dante was simply a lot older than most when he joined the guard academy (although this may contradict what he tells Aphmau about his home life and having to be raised by his aunt and uncle, but I don’t remember it enough to confidently say this Cant be true)

Most go with the first one, since it’s the most straight forward assumption abd Dante does give off big little brother vibes in the original season one guard trio. So yeah. There is no Confirmed ages, but y’all. Just think a little bit about what we know about the characters and where they are in life when we meet them and you can actually take a pretty decent guess at some sort of age range.

I think people overestimate how feminist team black is. If someone brings up how Baela should be the heir to Driftmark, it's always "she would've been Queen if not for the Greens!", ignoring that 1, she would be Queen consort, not a Queen in her own right, and 2 she has a legitimate claim in her own right to Driftmark. Team Black's goal is to crown Rhaenyra, but Rhaenyra becoming Queen isn't a win for feminism because it does nothing to dismantle the rest of the patriarchal system that exists in Westeros. From what we've gotten so far, it reads that Rhaenyra wants to be the exception and not the rule. Rhaenyra has made a lot of bad political decisions, which means she can't acknowledge Baela's claim because it would weaken her own claim (blatantly admitting her eldest sons are illegitimate would not end well for her to say the least). So she betrothes Jace and Luke to Baela and Rhaena to kind of atone for that, like as a consolation prize Baela will be Queen and Rhaena will be lady of Driftmark, neither of them would hold either title in their own right. It's good matches because the kids like each other and will treat each other well, but it's not a feminist win or a feministic liberation. It's usurpation, usurpation that takes place because Rhaenyra has to do damage control after having illegitimate children and after a serious of bad political decisions (both hers and her fathers, Viserys is the arbiter of this entire mess). To me, Rhaenyra is very reminiscent of Mary Queen of Scots, I can see a lot of elements drawn from Mary's history in Rhaenyra's story and character, down to their sons eventually taking the crown they failed to claim/keep.

One little known fact about Sherry is that she has a ridiculously high spice tolerance. The Sinners find this out on accident when dining out at a restaurant of Hong Lu's choice, where he tells them about a certain spicy mustard served there that they can dip their food in.

Most of the Sinners are incapable of handling the sting but Sherry just keeps eating the mustard. She's in tears and has to keep scrunching up her face, but she absolutely loves the burning sensation whenever she takes a bite. Hong Lu, of course, is very happy she likes it, and Ryōshū is mildly impressed she can handle it, but the other Sinners are a bit terrified of just how much spice Sherry can handle.
