tokyo tohoku trip - day 7.
my friend and i were going to kawaguchiko for a day trip, so we went to the jr expressway bus terminal JR高速バスのりば near to tokyo station to get on our bus which we bought the tickets ahead of time. before boarding the bus, we got katsu sandwich from the nearby convenient store too. those sandwich are very enjoyable, fluffy bread and the katsu is very flavorful with the sauce.
the bus ride is about two hours and we got to see mount fuji as we were arriving, as the weather is so nice. we decided to start our day with a visit to the fuji herb garden ハーブ庭園 旅日記, it’s one bus stop and about 10 minutes walk away, and the walk was enjoyable because of the nice view and cool weather.
the herb garden does not require fees to visit, and there’s an outdoor and indoor section with a souvenir store. there’s an observation deck which requires additional fee though, which we did not go. the indoor garden has lots of plants and flowers which are very beautiful, took lots of photos there. the outdoor garden has really nice arrangement of flowers and plants with water feature which is awesome for photos too. it was a relaxing walk and there’s name labels for each plant which is nice.
the souvenir store is quite big and they do have a lot of products made from plants and herbs. the beauty products are quite nice and gentle, there’s also sweets and snacks as wall. we got to try some fruit tea and fruit juice and the staff are so friendly. we wanted to sign up for the candle making workshop but the space was not available, so we couldn’t do it, we were thinking to come back in the evening though.
for lunch, we, of course, had to try the famous houtou noodles from the area. we went to koshu houtou kosaku 甲州ほうとう 小作 based on the staff recommendation from fuji herb garden. the restaurant is super spacious and we got a seat after a few minutes wait. i ordered the seafood option and my friend ordered the pork option. the taste of the soup does change based on the meat choice, and both of them are enjoyable. the noodles are chewy and quite thick, it’s not something i like very much. i do love all the vegetables that that put in the soup though, it was so good as all of them is fresh. the portion of the noodles is so big, i couldn’t actually finish it.
after a satisfying lunch, we took the local bus to kawaguchiko natural lving center  ブルーベリーの里 河口湖自然生活館 which is inside oishi park 大石公園. during the bus ride, we got to see the lake which is very pretty since the sky was quite clear. when we arrived at the center, there were quite a lot of tourist actually, the mount fuji view was simply amazing for such great weather. there’s also a souvenir store and they also sells snacks, i bought some stuff here for friends and also we sat down at the area to enjoy grape ice cream and coffee and just stare at the magnificent view.
as the day passed, the sky did get cloudy as the sun starts to set, we decided to head back to the herb garden since the bus ride do take quite some time. we arrived quite late so we missed the chance for the workshop, but we did pick up more souvenirs before walking back to the bus station. on the way back, we managed to visit a bakery - fujisan shokupan, to buy the fuji shaped milk bread.
the bus ride back is actually less comfortable because the double decker bus is less spacious. we got off at shinjuku bus terminal. we visit the muji store which has a relatively new section that sells products that reused old materials, so each piece is unique as the materials are not the same. it is a very interesting concept and their design is quite simple.
for dinner, my friend recommended a tonkatsu place nearby, suzuya 新宿すずや, which is on the 5th floor of the building. the tonkatsu is served on a hot plate with sauce and cabbage, which you may refill. we added kimchi and egg as add-ons which is so good. the meal also comes with the standard miso soup and pickles with white rice. the tonkatsu is very flavorful with the sauce, meat has quite some chew and i love the stir fry cabbage a lot. another satisfying meal to end the day. after that we just head home for rest since it definitely has been a long day since we woke up very early in the morning.
to be continued...

yukimura x reader
you find him cooking
0.7k words
Tumblr media
You know how Yukimura is. He and tact never go along together. What can be expected of Yukimura is bare minimum in everyday life, lots of training and strong survival instincts. Yet when you found him in the kitchen it came across as a shock to you.
"You made this?"
"What, you don't believe me?" The evidence spoke for itself. Vegetable scraps, a knife on the countertop, some pots which he also cleaned after using and no one else in sight. It's clear as day he was the one who made it.
"No, it's just that... You and cooking isn't something I can imagine."
"Feel free not to have it then," he takes on a sulky tone at your hopelessness of him. He starts walking with a food tray in his hand, his dish sitting on top.
"No, wait. I want to have it." There's a hurry in your voice, afraid he may take his dish away because you're sceptical of his cooking. You start following him and end up at your shared room where he has set up the tray and is ready to have his meal. You settle down beside him taking a good look at him and then his creation.
It isn't gourmet-style cooking. Doesn't seem basic as well. Home cook level? Yeah, that's the way to put it.
You take the chopsticks and pick up the first bite slowly lifting it towards your mouth, your eyes analyzing the bite. Yukimura's gaze, too, is on you. Though you notice neither his stare nor the intensity with which he's staring.
He had made houtou nabe. Various vegetables sat along with flat noodles in a miso flavoured broth. If it were anyone else, they would've taken the effort to plate the vegetables in a more presentable or appetizing way, placed the spring onions in the centre, and the radishes, carrots and such in an array. It seemed as if he added the cooked vegetables blindly to the soup and noodles.
Enough with how it looks. A better job could've been done with the plating but it didn't look so bad. It looked as if someone had made it in a hurry, or without a care in Yuki's case, and that is fine.
With the first bite came the aroma of the stewed vegetables, the broth, and other condiments which he had used for flavouring. You take the first bite and immediately acknowledge how good it is. A hum escapes you along with a nod and Yuki knows that you love it.
"Not that bad, is it now?" He says with a smirk now but you know he was anxious about what would you say of his skills.
"How did you manage to cook something so good?" Not only are you surprised he made something you're more so surprised it tastes so good. It isn't as good as something Masamune would make but it is delicious.
"Don't talk as if it was a fluke I made something tasty." He heaved a sigh. "I know how to cook."
"You indeed do." You take another bite of his nabe smiling at how good it is.
"I've never seen you cook though. When did you learn to cook?" Your curiosity tumbles out of you.
"It was long back. It's a necessary skill to have during wars. You have to look out for yourself and all that." That's a typical Yukimura answer you're satisfied with it.
You almost spoke while the bite was still in your mouth. "And how did you decide on making something today?"
"Figured we could have something special once in a while."
Your face lights up at that. "Does that mean you'll cook often?"
"Look at you so impressed by my cooking. And here I thought you were sceptical of me being in the kitchen. Want me to cook for you from now on?" He has a smirk playing along on his lips. He is getting back to you for all your questions from before.
"I'm not impressed or anything." You suppress the blush on your face. The idea of him cooking for you has butterflies flying in your stomach.
He swiftly takes your chopsticks from you before diving in for a bite of his own. His actions catch you off guard. "Is that the reason why half of this bowl is empty?"
Damn him for noticing. You think he's gonna take the next bite for himself but he ends up feeding it you. That suppressed blush has furiously made its way back now. He sees his victory in that and offers his smile.
"No need to be shy. I won't mind cooking for you."
Tumblr media
a/n: it was a spur of the moment kind of thing that i started writing this. i don't remember whether it was someone's route or a bonus story where yuki and mitsunari are cooking together and yuki gets in charge because mitsunari is clumsy. it was mentioned then that yuki can cook and personally i was surprised at that. i'm happy with how this turned out

This is the bibliography for our entry in the Anime Foodies series of panels, “Anime Foodies: Laid-Back Camp The Movie”.  The sources include not only places from which we garnered background of the food we were cooking, but also sources that helped us determine how to craft our own version of the recipes we were creating.
This is the second Anime Foodies panel which has a formal bibliography of sources.  Those marked with double asterisks are regular sources we’ve used in all of the panels in the series and are a good starting point for anyone interested in Japanese food and its history.

Just returned from 10 days back in japan. I'm so glad I started studying japanese and managed to hold actual conversations, although my japanese is so broken but the people we came across were just soo lovely and open to having a chat despite it.
We rented a car and drove down the izu peninsula along the coast. All the way to cape irozaki and worked our way back up visiting museums, Mt Fuji lookouts, peering over cliffs at jogasaki coast, eating great food. We were so lucky with the weather. Had the best crab of my life near mihama beach. Came across the coziest izakaya in itou. Had a phenomenal kinoko mushroom hotpot somewhere along a mountain. it's all a blur. Fish cakes at odawara on the way to atami. Houtou noodles at a teahouse up a random mountain nearby lake kawaguchi we saw on Google maps and when we got there I saw this huge embroidered cloth that was Dazai Osamu's face which was interesting but i didn't think much of it but while waiting for our food S looked it up and apparently Dazai Osamu stayed there and the second floor was a museum dedicated to him??? Twas interesting looking around the cozy place.
Also tried glass blowing and our little glasses turned out so cute but I don't think they're able to withstand high temperatures 😄. Grateful for great experiences. We're soo unbelievably lucky we kept saying our thank yous to the sky throughout the trip haha it was such a joy just being silly and exploring 💕 I hope we'll continue to be healthy as we age so we can keep doing this together for awhile.

wine tours in Yamanashi Japan
Wine Tours in Yamanashi, Japan: A Journey Through Scenic Vineyards and Elegant Flavors
When we think of Japan, images of ancient temples, cherry blossoms, and bustling cities come to mind. However, nestled at the foot of Mount Fuji lies Yamanashi Prefecture, a hidden gem and the heart of Japanese winemaking. If you’re looking to step off the beaten path, immerse yourself in breathtaking landscapes, and indulge in world-class wines, a Yamanashi wine tour is the perfect experience.
Why Yamanashi is Japan’s Wine Capital
Yamanashi isn’t just another picturesque location; it’s the birthplace of Japanese wine culture. Home to over 80 wineries, this region is blessed with fertile volcanic soil, ample sunlight, and a climate that makes it ideal for grape cultivation.
One name you’ll hear frequently during a tour is the Koshu grape—a native Japanese varietal that produces delicate, crisp white wines. Koshu’s subtle flavor profile pairs beautifully with traditional Japanese cuisine, creating a sensory experience that’s both refined and unforgettable.
But it’s not just about the wine here. Yamanashi offers visitors a harmonious blend of nature, culture, and craftsmanship, making each wine tour a story worth telling.
Top Highlights of a Yamanashi Wine Tour
1. Stunning Vineyards at the Foot of Mount Fuji
Imagine sipping a glass of Koshu white wine while gazing at the snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji. This postcard-perfect view isn’t a dream—it’s the reality of Yamanashi. Vineyards in the region are designed to be both functional and beautiful, with rows of grapevines stretching toward Japan’s most iconic mountain.
Many wineries offer guided vineyard tours, where you’ll stroll through grape-filled rows, learn about the growing process, and witness how Japan’s dedication to detail extends to winemaking.
2. The Koshu Experience: Tasting Japan’s Signature Wine
Yamanashi is synonymous with the Koshu grape, a light pink-skinned varietal that thrives in the region’s unique climate. Koshu wines are elegant, light, and refreshing, often characterized by citrus notes, soft acidity, and a clean finish.
During your tour, you’ll have the chance to sample Koshu in its many forms—from sparkling wines to aged selections—each offering a taste of Yamanashi’s terroir. Many wineries pair tastings with local delicacies, elevating the experience even further.
3. Château Mercian: Japan’s Oldest Commercial Winery
A visit to Yamanashi wouldn’t be complete without stopping at Château Mercian, one of the most renowned wineries in Japan. Founded in 1877, Château Mercian played a pioneering role in introducing winemaking to the country.
Their tasting room and vineyard walks provide a perfect introduction to Yamanashi wines, blending history with modern techniques. The serene atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and award-winning wines make it a highlight for both beginners and seasoned wine enthusiasts.
4. Boutique Wineries: Discover Hidden Gems
While large, established wineries like Château Mercian are a must-visit, Yamanashi is also home to smaller, family-owned vineyards that produce limited-edition wines with exceptional care. These boutique wineries offer a more intimate and personal experience. You’ll often get to meet winemakers themselves, hear their stories, and taste wines that reflect decades of dedication and passion.
Some noteworthy boutique wineries include:
Grace Wine: Known for its premium Koshu wines and elegant reds.
Haramo Wine: A family-run vineyard that’s full of charm and character.
Sadoya Winery: Combining French techniques with Japanese sensibility.
5. Pairing Wine with Japanese Cuisine
One of the most unique aspects of a Yamanashi wine tour is the opportunity to pair Japanese wines with local dishes. Koshu’s light and crisp notes complement fresh sashimi, tempura, and Yamanashi’s specialty, Houtou noodles—a hearty miso-based dish filled with vegetables.
For lovers of red wine, Yamanashi also produces excellent Muscat Bailey A, a fruity varietal that pairs perfectly with roasted meats or Japanese-style barbecue.
The Best Time to Visit Yamanashi Wineries
While Yamanashi is beautiful year-round, the best time for wine tours is during autumn (September to November). The harvest season transforms vineyards into golden landscapes, and the weather is perfect for outdoor tastings. Spring is another fantastic option, as you can enjoy vineyard tours surrounded by blooming cherry blossoms.
Why Choose a Wine Tour in Yamanashi?
A Yamanashi wine tour isn’t just about drinking wine—it’s about connecting with a region that cherishes both tradition and innovation. It’s about walking through serene vineyards, feeling the cool breeze off Mount Fuji, and tasting wines that capture the essence of Japan’s landscape.

WE CAN DANCE! 2nd Day, Yamanashi
Evening!
Today was 2 performances in Yamanashi🍑✨
The afternoon performance was peachy-peach like a peach (Homare),
I'm glad that I have worked hard to today, I can also work hard tomorrow, Such power being sent out at the live in the evening performance (Kita-chan),
It was realllyyyy fun😌😌
Speaking of Yamanashi,
I have a lottttt of memories from the bus tour Ayumizuki🩷💙 10th generation💛💙💚🧡
We did it here!
When it was Ayumizuki, There was no kabocha in my houtout… Everyone had taken it!!! I can't forget how angry I was lol
Today houtou, had lots of kabocha~~🧡
There was houtou with the catering, Since it was continuously kept warm, After the performance all the noodles had soaked up the soup, It became like a dango😂😂
Since the flavor was reallyyy delicious, It was delicious even after the performance😋❤️
I wanted to eat houtout even on the DVD with the 10th generation, Today as well, I made memories even with just the houtou
That's right, I liked the setlist for the 10th generation live..?🖤
Also, in 2014,
It was also the scene for the sleeping prank, at the foot of Mount Fuji, in Yamanashi🗻 Later on it came true that we had a live there, In a place where you have to shout, Fujiyama-- There was also the time I misread the "fu" as "tomi" and shouted that I'm really sorry about that parttttt🥲🥲 Its too memorable……
Its not Mount Fuji, but properly today, I had the momentum of Yamanashi--!🔥
Yamanashi! Thank you very much to everyone that supported us!
Today was still just the second stop of the tour, Also today was Ako-chan's first day, And I'm sure that for some of you, it was your first day🕺
Did you enjoy it!
I also had fun🕺
I saw various artists at Rockin' yesterday, in particular, I was really moved by Sambo Master-san and Ado-san, also with their MC🤍
All together, Loveit🐰🐰 Watch that tomorrow too, ok🐰🐰 Maria can will be really appearing tomorrow too
The excitement is high like, its really like that!🤍
Ikuta-san, Odan, They told me that I was in the wrong position, (But I didn't notice Ikuta-san's cues at all so I just ended up giving Ikuta-san a cool way of interacting with me) Excuse me,
Thank you very much😂😂 I was mesmerized by the audience..😕😕
I didn't take photos today! I didn't notice so I cut this out of a video and posted it
Tumblr media
