Forever Yours 18+
Request: How are we feeling about Tim Bradford meeting his high school girlfriend again as he's on patrol with Lucy and gets all flustered again cause you're the one for him (like you separated ways as he went to the police and you did something else but are back now) and you just feel the same old feelings. Later Lucy won't stop making fun of him cause he's always badass and now you seem to be his weak spot. Next day you visit him at the department with his favorite food and he asks you out on a date which you gladly accept. Just some fluffy cute Tim, with maaaaaybe smut at the end of their date and he won't let her leave him ever again? 😊
Next week is my bday, so I thought some Tim would be adorable !
Pairings: Tim Bradford x Teacher!Reader
Warnings: fluff, smut, swearing, pregnancy
Masterlist
A/N: Happy birthday or belated birthday to the anon that sent this in!
A/N 2: @talesofreading and @imagine-all-the-fandoms some steamy Tim smut for you!
Los Angeles. You never thought you would come back here but after being away for so long you were itching to come back. Most importantly you were missing your high school crush and boyfriend, Tim Bradford. You two only split when he decided to go into the military and you wanted to become a teacher. It was a mutual break up but man did it still hurt. You two had lost contact and both of you had been too busy to try and reconnect with each other but now you were back having gotten your teaching degree and took the position as a first-grade teacher. You loved kids and they seemed to be drawn to you. It was really your true calling.
Last you heard of Tim was that he had gotten out of the military and had gone to the police academy, was married but then got divorced and he was working as a TO for LAPD. You heard all of this through his sister that you were best friends with. You had wanted to get in contact with him but school and kids kept you busy so you just let it go.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
The new school year was just about to start and you were excited. A few weeks before you had gone in and set up the classroom how you wanted and then started to figure out teaching material. A week before school actually starts you would be meeting the students and their parents for the first time. Overall, you were excited and couldn’t wait.
There was one week before school and you had gotten there early to start meeting the students and parents. The time had started and the students and parents started to slowly trickle in. Everyone you met were friendly and some of the dads even tried to flirt with you but you just smiled and continued on. You had your mind on one person and that was Tim Bradford.
It was finally the end of the day and you were exhausted but you had a lot of fun and loved seeing the kids. You made sure everything was in order and everything was cleaned then you were walking you out of the classroom and locking the door behind you. You left the school with a smile on your face. You couldn’t wait for Friday next week.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Your alarm on Friday went off early and you were getting up with a smile on your face. You turned it off and got in the shower and brushed your teeth. You walked out into your room in just a towel and started to get dressed. As you were doing so your cat, Biscuit, walked in and jumped on the bed and meowed at you, you turned and gave him some love and then you were back to getting ready. When you were done in there you walked out of the bedroom and into the kitchen where your German Shepherd, Steel, greeted you. You gave Steel his food and then fed Biscuit and now you were getting yourself coffee as it was brewing you let Steel out and then when he was done, he was at the door wanting back in. You finished getting ready to leave the house. The coffee chimed when it was done and you grabbed the travel mug and headed out to your blue Toyota Tacoma.
It was a quick drive to the school and you got there with no trouble. As you were driving you looked like Tim but you were too busy paying attention to the road. You pulled into the parking lot and into the parking lot for the teachers. You parked and turned the engine off and then you were getting out and grabbing your bag. As you were walking into the building you greeted some of the other staff who were all so friendly and that made you smile.
You walked to your room and unlocked it and started to get everything ready for the day. About 7:50 AM students started to trickle in and you were at the door greeting everyone. Once everyone was in you closed the door and walked to the front of the classroom smiling and made sure everyone was sitting down. “Good morning, kiddos. My name is Ms. Y/L/N and I’m gonna be your teacher for this year. I’m excited to learn about each and every one of you and I can’t wait for the fun things I have planned for you all. It’s going to be a fun year. Now does anyone have questions for me or about me?” You asked and a few raised their hands. You looked over at them and smiled “Benson, what is your question?” You asked.
“Do you have any animals?” He asked with sweet innocent eyes and you smiled.
“I do, I have a dog named Steel and a cat named Biscuit.” You said
“Do you have pictures?” He asked and you smiled and pulled up a picture of your animals.
The rest of the morning went without a hitch. When they were at lunch you smiled and sat in your room thinking about what the plan was for the second half of the day. You were scrolling through your email and noticed there was going to be a fire drill and that they were going to bring the fire trucks, ambulances, and police in.
All the kids were back and you let them know what was going to be happening and you assured them that there was nothing to be afraid of and it was all a drill. Some still seemed scared so you said that they could come to you if they got too scared and that seemed like that helped ease them up a little bit. For now, the day went like normal and it would be happening close to the end of the day.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
“Did you hear that we have to go to the elementary school for a fire drill?” Lucy said as she and Tim were driving around making calls and making sure everything was good to go.
“Yes, I did.” Tim said, making his response short.
“How do you feel about that?” She asked
“I’m fine with it. It lets kids see the importance of what we do.” He said and she nodded seeing that he wasn’t up for any more discussing it. While they were waiting to be called to the school Tim was thinking about you and where you were. You were his high school love and he never stopped loving you even when he was married, he wanted to get back into contact with you but never seemed able to find the time but boy was he in or a surprise today. The time came and they were heading to the school along with the ambulance, firefighters, and two other shops. The point of this was to first have a fire drill and then show the importance of the first responders. Tim parked next to Talia and Nolan’s car and they headed over to the kids. Everyone was answering questions and then something, more like someone, caught Tim’s eye. He looked closer and it was you. You were bent down talking to a kid who was crying and you were trying to console them but it wasn’t working and so you picked the kid up and let them cry into your neck. He needed to see you and talk to you. “I’ll be right back.” He told Lucy and then was gone before she could say anything.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
“Hey, shhhhhh. You’re ok.” You said consoling the little boy. You were bouncing them around trying to soothe him. You didn’t even know Tim was walking up to you. “It’s nothing to be scared about. It just means that it helps on the way and they save people.” You said and he came out from your neck and sniffled.
“Really?” He asked and you smiled and were about to answer but a familiar male voice answered before for you.
“Absolutely. It means that we are on our way to save you.” Tim said and you looked up and saw him and the little boy looked at him.
“Really?” He asked and Tim smiled.
“Yup, my fellow officer John Nolan will be happy to show you and talk to you about it.” He said and then pointed over to him “He is right over there.” Tim said and the boy sniffled and nodded and you sat him down and watched him scamper off to John. Making sure he was safe before turning to Tim smiling. “You've always been so good with kids.” He said and you chuckled.
“You have too. One of the many reasons I fell in love with you.” You said and he smiled and looked down.
“It's been a while.” He said looking up at you and you nodded agreeing.
“Too long and that is my fault.” You said and his smile turned into a frown and he shook his head.
“No. That is not true. I'm the one that took off and didn't even try to contact.” He said and you shook your head.
“I'm to blame too.” You said and once again he was denying it.
“We can discuss this over dinner.” He said and you looked at him.
“Like a date?” You asked
“Exactly like that. My number is the same if you wanted to text me anytime.” He said and you smiled and nodded.
“Mine is too.” You said
“Ms. Y/L/N! She hit me!” Your student, Amber, said pointing to another student, Emma, as they ran up to you. You looked at Tim and he smiled and nodded. You bent down to the two girls. You walked back over to Lucy and the others watching you handle the situation with a smile. All he could think about was how you would deal with your and his kids and that put a smile on his face.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Tim walked back over to the group smiling. “Is The Tim Bradford actually smiling?” Lucy asked and everyone turned to see and he actually started to blush.
“He's blushing!” Angela said with a smile.
“I am not.” He said and tried to stop but he just saw the love of his life again.
“You so are! Is it because of that teacher you were flirting with?” Lucy asked and he didn't say anything and then the radio saved him and then he was quick to answer it.
“Come on Boot. We have work to do.” Tim said and walked over to his shop and she quickly followed behind him. When they got back to the shop his phone dinged and he was quick to pull it out and smiled when he saw it was you. Lucy took notice of this and she smirked.
“Is that her?” Lucy asked and Tim was quick to drop the smile and look at her.
“It’s none of your business.” He said and she rolled her eyes but smirked when she looked away, he was smiling and was quick to send a reply back and it was back to work for the both of you.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
You and Tim had been talking all week and the same old feelings were coming back. Saturday rolled around and you found out he was working and you decided to bring him and his coworkers. You loved baking and Tim knew this. You parked in a parking spot and then walked into the police station smiling. You greeted the front desk person and they smiled. “What can I do for you?” She asked.
“I’m here to see Tim Bradford.” You said and she smiled and then she paged him and he was coming down in time.
“Y/N, what are you doing here?” He asked and you smiled and turned to him.
“Well, you mentioned you were working today and thought you and your coworkers could use some baked goods.” You said and he smiled.
“Come on.” He said and you walked with him into where everyone was. It looked like they were just in for lunch. “Guys, this is Y/N. Y/N this is Angela, Talia, Lucy, Jackson, and Nolan.” He said and everyone waved as they were introduced.
“Nice to meet you all.” You said “I figured you all could use some goodies.” You said you waved your basket.
“Her cookies are to die for. They are my favorite” Tim said as you set the basket down in the break room. Tim wasn’t looking at anyone but you, everyone was smiling and looking at how lovesick he was and they were happy for him. Everyone got a cookie and they absolutely fell in love with them and they voiced this and that made you smile. “Hey, would you follow me?” He asked you and you nodded and he took your hand and led you to the briefing room.
“What’s up?” You asked as you sat on the edge of one of the tables.
“Will you go on a date with me?” He asked and you smiled and nodded.
“I would love to go on a date with you.” You said and that made him smile.
“Great! I’ll pick you up at 7 tonight?” He asked and you once again smiled.
“That sounds perfect.” You said and then you both continued to talk until he had to leave and that was cue now you had to go home and get ready for your date.
7 PM rolled around quickly and before you knew it you were opening the door to a smiling and well-dressed Timothy Bradford. “Wow.” He said and you blushed but Steel was quick to rush the door.
“Steel, off.” You said and he backed up and moved away from the door and that made Tim fall in love with you even more. You made sure to grab your keys, locking the door behind you, and the both of you headed to his truck where he helped you in and then closed the door and walked to the other side and got in and headed to the restaurant that he had picked out that he knew you would love. “So where are we going?” You asked and he smiled.
“It's a surprise but you’re going to love it. They have sushi.” He said when he looked over and saw you were about to say something and then your smile came back. “I’ve missed you. I’m sorry that I didn’t stay in contact.” He said and you shook your head.
“Nonsense. It was my fault too.” You said
“I guess it is both of our faults.” He said and you chuckled but agreed. You both were quick to get to the restaurant and he was quick to park and then was getting out and helping you out. You both walked into the restaurant and he walked up to the receptionist and he was quick to get you seated. You two talked and caught up and just had a delightful time, it was just like old times. You both ordered and now the wait for food has started.
“I missed you.” You said and he smiled and nodded.
“I missed you too. It was hard to go on not knowing how you were but I was too selfish to actually text you.” He said and you nodded looking at him.
“It was hard finding out through your sister about what you were doing but it helped.” You said and he nodded and just then the food came and you both started eating and finished the date and now you were back at your house inviting him. Steel greeted you and so did Biscuit and they immediately fell in love with him and you fell back in love with him, though you never truly fell out of love with him.
You sat on the couch with a glass of wine, both of your animals had left the room so it was just the both of you, and you both leaned in and now you were kissing him and he was kissing back and neither of you were stopping each other. “Tell me to stop if you want me to stop.” He said when he pulled away and you looked him in the eye.
“I don’t want you to stop.” You said and he smiled.
“I was hoping you were going to say that.” He said and crashed his lips back into yours and he laid you down on the couch. He started to kiss your neck and then got to your sweet spot and gently bit it and that made you moan.
“Tim.” You moaned and he smirked and did it again. You clenched around nothing. You both worked on getting each other clothes off and everything was off in no time in a pile on the floor beside the couch. “I love you.” You said and he trailed down your body peppering it.
“I love you too.” He said in between kisses. He ghosted over nipples giving them equal attention but he knew where you needed him the most. This was not the first time you had sex with this man, he was your first in high school, sure you had sex with other men but nothing compared to him. He still knew how you liked it and knew all the right places to please you. He trailed down to your heated core and was quick to dive in and you moaned out throwing your head back and hands going to his head. He let up for just a second. “We can take this to the bedroom if you want.” He said and you shook your head.
“No, it's perfect here.” You said and he nodded and he was diving back into your pussy licking and sucking on your clit knowing exactly where to use his tongue to please you. “Tim.” You moaned out and bucked your hips towards him and he was quick to hold you down. Your hands left his head and they came up to clutch the couch cushions and your legs spread wider. He started swirling his tongue around your entrance and was tongue fucking you and you felt that rubber band feeling starting to tighten. “‘M close.” You moaned out but he stopped just as soon as you were about to cum. “Tim.” You moaned out in frustration but he was moving up to be face to face with you.
“What?” He asked his breath fanning you and you could smell the wine on this breath.
“I was about to cum.” You said and he smirked.
“You’ll get what you want soon.” He said and kissed you as he rubbed his cock up and down your wet folds and then let up on the kiss as he pushed into you and you both moaned. “See? I told you.” He said and all you did was moan. He stretched you in all the right places and it was like you were back in high school with him all over again.
“Tim.” You moaned and he smirked, loving the way he made you moan and the way you were gripping him. He started to move and you both moaned out.
“You’re still as tight as ever.” He said and attacked your neck with more kisses and love bites.
“You ruined all the other guys for me.” You moaned out and he gave a sharp thrust that hit your g-spot perfectly.
“Good.” He said
“You’re the only one for me.” You said and he gave another sharp thrust and then he started to go faster and you didn’t even have to ask for it. You both wanted this and you both needed it. Everything was perfect. Ever since he started to go faster it was making that rubber band feeling coming back. Each thrust was like heaven and you never wanted it to end. “I’m about to cum.” You moaned out.
“Me too.” He moaned out and picked up his pace and trailed one hand, leaving the other to keep his weight off of you, down to your body to your clit and he started to rub it, flick it, and pinch it all it was doing was making you come closer to the edge. Your orgasm was just right there and so was his.
“Tim!” You yelled out not caring who heard you.
“Cum for me.” He said and sent a flick to your clit and leaned down to bite your nipple and then you were seeing stars. Not a few seconds later his thrusts were getting sloppy “I’m gonna cum.” He said and then his hips stilled and he painted your walls right. It was a good thing you were on birth control, you thought as you and Tim came down from your highs. Tim slowly slipped out of you and then got behind you and threw an arm around you. He grabbed the blanket from off the back of the couch and threw it over you both. “I’m never gonna let you leave again.” He said and you smiled and nodded and turned to look at him.
“I’m never going to leave. Ever.” You said and he smiled and leaned down to kiss you.
“I love you.” He said
“I love you too.” You replied
You wanted this. You wanted forever with him and he wanted that with you too. You both wanted to marry each other and start a family with each other. Neither of you could wait to finally be with each other forever. You both wanted this since high school and nothing is going to get in the way of you both being together forever, not again.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
2 years later………
You and Tim had been married for 2 years now and had a 2-year-old son, Dakota. Your son was conceived on the last day of your honeymoon. Now you are 6 months pregnant with your second child, this one being a girl. Your jobs were going great and Tim had just been promoted to Sergeant which meant a bigger paycheck. Now you and Dakota were walking into the precinct to meet with your husband. You had just parked the car and got out and got Dakota out. “Kota, hold my hand when crossing the street.” You said and he nodded.
“Otay momma.” He said and you smiled and ran a hand through his hair, he was the exact copy of his father. You grabbed his hand and the both of you walked across the street and into the precinct.
“Good morning, Mrs. Bradford and Dakota.” The receptionist said and you smiled.
“Good morning, Veronica.” You said “Tim in?” You asked and she nodded.
“Yup, you know where to find him.” She said and you nodded and then you were heading to him with a hand on your sons and one on your stomach.
“Y/N! Dakota!” Lucy said and you smiled.
“Hello, Lucy.” You said and your son waved at her.
“Tim is in his office.” She said and you smiled and walked to his office. You looked into the room and saw him focusing on his work and you looked down at Dakota.
“Knock, Baby.” You said and he smiled and did so.
“Come in.” He said and you opened the door and you both stepped in.
“Daddy!” Dakota said and he looked up and smiled and walked around his desk and scooped his son up.
“Hello there, handsome. Have you been good for mommy?” He asked and he nodded.
“We went to the store, I helped!” Dakota rambled on and Tim smiled.
“You helped mommy?” He asked and looked at you and you nodded.
“Uh huh. I helped carry!” He said and he smiled.
“That’s my boy.” He said and kissed his cheek and then walked over and kissed you. “How is our little girl doing?” He asked.
“Currently being still for once but using my bladder as a soccer ball a lot.” You said and he chuckled. He put Dakota down and he walked over to the table with toys and coloring books that Tim kept for him. Tim put his hand on your stomach and immediately the baby kicked. “She must know that she has her daddy here.” You said and he chuckled and leaned down to kiss you.
“Mommy! Daddy! Come help!” Dakota all but shouted and you two broke apart.
“Ok, we’re coming.” Tim said and you followed him over there and he sat down on the ground and you sat in a chair which he helped you sit in. Tim got into helping Dakota so that you were able to lean back and watch with a smile on your face. This was the dream you always wanted with him and you got it finally after so long. You were married to the man of your dreams, had a son together, and have a daughter on the way. You rubbed your stomach as she kicked and that made you smile.
You were finally happy and couldn’t wait to spend the rest of your years with the man of your dreams since high school. They were your world and you wouldn’t trade anything for it. You loved your growing family and you knew Tim did and that made you happy. Tim looked over at you and smiled. “I love you.” You mouthed and he smiled.
“I love you too.” He mouthed and then Dakota was grabbing his attention again and you chuckled, yup you loved little growing family.

Just after we finalized our list of supported organizations, wildfires sprang up in southern California and have quickly become a major disaster. If you're a creator planning to sign up for FTH and thinking of adding a write-in to your list of supported nonprofits, these are doing good work in disaster relief for the communities affected by the wildfires.
The California Fire Foundation is working with local fire agencies and community-based organizations to provide direct financial support to impacted residents as details of the damage emerge.
Pasadena Humane is working with shelters across the state who have offered to take in the animals that were already in our care so that we can focus on providing emergency resources to animals affected by the wildfires.
Project Understanding of San Buenaventura Food Bank is helping ensure that those who have lost everything don't struggle to eat, as well as providing assistance regarding housing for the displaced.
The state superintendent of schools "has launched a fundraising campaign through SupplyBank.org Disaster Relief Fund. This campaign aims to support students, families, educators, and school staff affected by the wildfires. Donations will fund essential needs such as housing assistance, food, water, clothing, and school supplies."
And, not specifically disaster relief for the current wildfire crisis, incarcerated people make up nearly 30% of California's firefighting force - approximately 950 inmates are currently on the front lines fighting the Los Angeles wildfires. The Forestry and Fire Recruitment Program works to train formerly incarcerated persons for careers as fire fighters so that there are more qualified fire fighters available to help control future fires.
Similarly, in collaboration with CAL FIRE, DAPO, CCC & ARC the Anti-Recidivism Coalition Ventura Training Center provides previously incarcerated individuals with the following: Rehabilitation, Life Skills, Job Readiness, Professional Experience, and Firefighter Training & Certifications.
The situation is developing fast. Feel free to reblog or reply to this post and suggest other places to donate.

Who was Kagney Linn Necessary?

(the gofundme for her memorial/funeral will be at the end.)
Kagney Linn Necessary was born in Harris County, Texas in 1987, and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri and in Ridgway, Pennsylvania. [x]
In her early years, she moved to California with ambitions of becoming an actress and a singer but entered work as an exotic dancer before signing with LA Direct Models, a pornographic agency. Karter entered the adult film industry in September 2008.[x]
But that wasn't the entirety of who Kagney was. At face value, the only information I could find with a quick search was the basic information above from Wikipedia. All anyone seemed to know about her was who she was when she was in the "industry." I wanted to see what I could find about her, the person. Not Kagney Linn Karter, but Kagney Linn Necessary.
I raked through interviews she had, her personal social media accounts, and any other articles that I could find just to find any little facts about her that I could.
I thought about omitting her time within the porn industry to focus solely on everything else except that. But I feel it would be tasteless to keep it out. I think it needs to be mentioned. I think it is important to show that women pulled into the porn industry are not these separate beings from any other woman with dreams. This was a 36 year old woman who was just like any other woman who was preyed upon.
Necessary released an EP, The Crossover, in 2018. In 2022, Karter released her debut album, titled The Take Over. [x] She would post clips of her singing covers of songs as well as songs from her upcoming EP on her Instagram.
In 2022, she began learning how to play the piano, even posting a video of her progress.
Necessary was also a recovering addict. In 2021, she posted about the things that helped her stay clean and how she was pleased at having a second chance at life. In an interview, she was intentionally vague about the substances she used, only referring to them as "candy" and "a little bit of everything." But with no insurance or money for rehab, she opted to detox herself at her parents home, working at their tanning salon for free in exchange for "produce."
She moved from Los Angeles to Ohio in 2019 and got involved with pole dancing fitness studios before being involved the opening of one in Akron, called Alchemy Pole Fitness. She posted many videos of herself having fun and practicing new/old moves.
In November 2023, she was posting pictures of her new house and how well it was coming together,
[their website leads to a website called Alchemy Space Studios and says that it was founded and run by a separate woman. But upon looking up the LLC for the business, Kagney is named as the registrant and she is named as the owner of the space in two separate articles.]
In 2015, Carter claimed musician Chris Brown paid her $2,500 to be his escort. She reportedly tweeted things like 'I WILL NEVER F*** A WOMAN BEATER EW DISGUSTING' and 'HE IS PURE EVIL' about Brown.
I just felt like adding that because what a queen.
From her students from the studio and friends, she was known to love animals, including her dog, Murphy, and had a deep devotion to the community she was cultivating in Ohio. She was known to be fearless and empathetic, creating her studio as a place for people to feel safe and accepted.
These were the things I could find of her from her personal accounts and the people who loved her. She wasn't an object that will be missed for what "uses" it had. She was a woman who had dreams, who had a community who love her, who had a husband who loves her, dogs she cared for and loved who loved her, and a mother who loves her. I didn't want her story to be another reblog of a lost life.
I know this post is sporadic and clunky, but I wanted to just grab any information I could without crossing boundaries (ex. contacting the family or something tasteless like that). I just wanted to share what she had already shared with the world.

Her friend, Megan Lee, has posted a gofundme that has already surpassed their goal. But I would still suggest donating if you are able. Rest in peace, Kagney Linn Necessary. 💜
#worked on this all morning trying to find sources#got emotional#gonna take it easy for the rest of the day#rest in peace

"Faced with declining membership, aging buildings and large, underutilized properties, many U.S. houses of worship have closed their doors in recent years. Presbyterian minister Eileen Linder has argued that 100,000 churches may close in the next few decades.
But some congregations are using their land in new ways that reflect their faith – a focus of my urban planning research. Some are repurposing their property to provide affordable housing, as the housing crisis intensifies across the country.
Take Arlington Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Virginia. In 2016, the church sold its historic stone building to the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing to construct a 6-story complex with 173 apartments, known as “Gilliam Place.” The building still houses space for the congregation, as well as La Cocina, a bilingual culinary job training facility and cafe. In Austin, Texas, St. Austin Catholic Parish is partnering with a developer to build a 29-story tower providing 200 beds of affordable student housing, in addition to new spaces for ministry.
Other houses of worship are pursuing similar projects today.
Same mission, new projects
Faith-based organizations have been building housing for many years, but generally by purchasing additional property. In recent years, however, more houses of worship are building affordable housing on the same property as the sanctuary.
This can be done in a variety of ways. Some congregations adapt the existing sanctuary and other faith-owned buildings, while others demolish existing buildings to construct a new development, which may or may not have space for the congregation. Another option is to build on excess property, like a parking lot.
Depending on how a development deal is structured, a faith-based organization may receive proceeds from the sale of its land, or from leasing their property to a developer – funds which they can then spend on ministry or on a new space for worship. If a new development includes space for the congregation, sometimes they rent out those spaces when the space is not being used for worship, which can also financially benefit the congregation.
Faith-based organizations often see these projects as a way to do “God’s work.” In some instances, they include community services beyond the housing itself.
Near Los Angeles, the Episcopal Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Placentia partnered with a nonprofit affordable housing developer – National Community Renaissance, also called National CORE – to develop 65 units for older people. The complex also includes a 1,500 square foot (140 square meter) community center. The city’s diocese has a goal of building affordable housing on 25% of its 133 properties.
For some congregations, these are mission-driven projects rooted in social justice.
In Washington, D.C., Emory United Methodist Church redeveloped its property and constructed The Beacon Center – which has 99 affordable housing units, community spaces, and a commercial kitchen that provides job training for recently incarcerated people – while preserving the sanctuary. In Seattle, the Nehemiah Initiative is working with Black churches in the Central District, a historically African American neighborhood, to redevelop its properties into affordable housing to keep residents from being displaced."
Potential to evolve
As states and cities struggle to provide affordable housing, studies have been conducted from Nashville to New York City on the amount of land faith organizations own, and their potential as housing partners.
In the D.C. metro area, for example, the Urban Institute found almost 800 vacant parcels owned by religious organizations. In California, a report from the Terner Center at University of California, Berkeley found approximately 170,000 “potentially developable” acres of land owned by religious organizations and nonprofit colleges and universities...
When thinking about the redevelopment process, Arlington Presbyterian member Jon Etherton told me, “the call from God to create, do something about affordable housing was bigger than the building itself.”"

Melissa Gira Grant at TNR:
Late Sunday, a reported 20,000 people joined an organizing call quickly convened by Indivisible, a group founded to push back on Trump’s first administration, in response to actions largely undertaken by one of his unelected lackeys, the chaotic tech entrepreneur Elon Musk. As the call maxed out its capacity, tens of thousands more watched via YouTube. Meanwhile, outside an otherwise unexciting federal building in Washington, federal workers and D.C. residents assembled. Inside, under orders from Musk (who apparently paid his way into the president’s good graces), a small group of young men, whose only professional experience was working for one of Musk’s or Musk’s cronies’ companies, were wreaking havoc on federal payment systems. “Musk is inside the Treasury right now with his cadre of flying monkeys, and we don’t know what they’re doing,” said Indivisible co-founder Ezra Levin on the organizing call. No one seemed to know how to stop them.
But the accounts from that small protest outside the federal building, with just a few people blocking the doors—backed up by chants of “There’s a robbery in progress”—put a spotlight on the scene and gave it a story. On Monday morning, as federal workers reported lockouts from their offices, more people joined. Some protesters took to the street outside the Office of Management and Budget and blocked traffic. And the next day, Indivisible demonstrators and Democratic members of Congress gathered at the Treasury Building in opposition to Musk’s ongoing takeover, which some lawmakers were by then plainly calling an “illegal raid,” in which he “illegally seized power.” When they tried to get into Treasury on Tuesday, they were turned away. “We’re not going to allow them to steal from our people, from working-class people!” Representative Maxwell Frost said at the rally assembled outside.
In the wake of the November election, multiple news outlets ran stories suggesting that, this time, the president’s opposition were exhausted and inclined to sit this one out. But the fact that the National Mall isn’t packed with pussy-hat-wearing women does not mean that everyone has moved on. Some may have, of course, like the group of Pennsylvania women profiled in The New York Times ahead of the 2025 inauguration, whose first experience organizing was protesting Trump’s first term. (But, to be fair, we don’t know how many people in that particular demographic have really tuned out.) The story those particular protests were telling—a man who sexually assaulted women was in the White House, and himself was a threat to democracy—has only gotten more grim, more all-encompassing, in the last eight years. If anything, there is too much to protest and there are too many villains, an overwhelming number of stories competing for attention and action. But protests are, in fact, happening—and this week, more people are starting to show up.
At the same time as some lesser-known federal office buildings became sites of protest on Sunday, thousands of people across the country were turning out in opposition to Trump’s promised mass deportations and the already-escalating ICE raids: In Los Angeles (blocking the 101 Freeway), Phoenix, Las Vegas (over several days, including hundreds outside Trump’s hotel), Dallas, and Atlanta, among others. On Sunday and Monday, a few thousand people in Washington, D.C. and New York protested Trump’s attempted bans on gender-affirming care for young trans people. On Tuesday, as Trump contemplated shutting down the Department of Education by executive order, students walked out of schools in Los Angeles, and members of the Chicago Teachers Union held “walk-ins” at 100 schools, calling for protections for immigrant students, parents, and educators.
What do we know about these protests? It’s too early to make any data-based generalizations. But based on the rapid-fire research I did for this story, including going to some of these protests (both now and in the first Trump administration), they are not primarily organized under a banner of “Resist Trump.” Protests have mobilized around Trump’s orders, but they are also targeting those who are carrying out his orders, whether that’s responding to an ICE raid in their own neighborhood or to a hospital that is preemptively banning gender-affirming care. Many of these same protesters, not coincidentally, remained active no matter who was in the White House.
Their communities did not see the Biden years as a victory but as a possible reprieve. That reprieve didn’t materialize: Biden didn’t brand his deportations as Trump did, and they weren’t media spectacles, but by the numbers available, he removed as many people from the United States as Trump did in his first term. For trans people, who Biden did at least mention in some speeches and whose rights he backed in a number of executive orders, almost all of that has been undone by two weeks of Trump. The Biden years also saw a constant onslaught of attacks on trans people at the state and local level. There was nothing to sit out. Maybe, to those who deemed protesters “tired,” this resistance doesn’t look like what they expected. Perhaps they don’t see protests led by immigrants and trans people as part of the resistance, or see these as side issues—even though those are the communities Trump is specifically targeting.
The resistance to Tyrant 47 feels and looks different from Autocrat-in-Chief Trump’s first term. #Resist47 #ResistTrump

"Palestine is a story away.” This is what Refaat Alareer wrote on my copy of the short story anthology he edited in 2014, Gaza Writes Back. The contributors were his students at the Islamic University of Gaza.
When I published my poetry book, Things You May Find Hidden in My Ear: Poems from Gaza, in 2022, the first person I gave a copy to in Gaza was Refaat. I signed the copy by writing, “Palestine is a poem away.”
Now Refaat is a world away. He was assassinated on December 6 by the Israeli army. The only weapon in his Gaza apartment was an EXPO marker. If the Israeli soldiers were to raid his house, he said, he would throw it at them, while crying, “We are helpless.”
Mosab Abu Toha, the opening paragraphs of his essay "Palestine Is a Story Away: A Tribute to Refaat Alareer", published in the Los Angeles Review of Books, January 2, 2024. You can read the entire essay here.

First Impressions Matter

Warnings: fluff, college student Jay, profanity, Jay is just so boyfriend coded I cried writing this
In which Jay does everything in his power to make sure that meeting your family goes well…
“Are you sure you wanna do that?” You asked at lunch.
Jay nodded casually. “I don’t see what the issue is. It’s about time, don’t you think so?”
The topic at hand? Him meeting your family. Jay is an amazing guy and as far as you can tell there are no flaws. But your family is very strict about who you date and they can be very pushy people at times. Your younger siblings are the worst about it, always asking about who Jay is. But for Jay he thought after hitting the four month mark he was more than ready to meet the family.
“I don’t know, Jay. They can be a lot and my dad is very protective.” You said hesitantly.
Jay grabbed your hand gently which caused you to look up at him.
“Hey I’m not gonna push this if you don’t want me to. I just think it would be good for them to know who I am sooner rather than later.” He said honestly.
Jay’s words gave you a sense of comfort that your last relationship couldn’t provide. That’s also why you were scared to have Jay come over. The last guy did not work out too well having showed up too casually in sweats and no full sentences. But Jay was different; he was perfect. He could manage your family’s high demands.
“Okay.” You said.
Jay’s eyebrows shot up. “Okay like I can meet them?”
You nodded smiling at his excitement.
“I’ll ask my mom when she would like to do this.”

Saturday arrived and you were pacing in your room. Thursday evening after school you asked your family if they would like to meet Jay and that was all it took. Your siblings cleaned around the house, your mother purchased the best meats at the store, and your dad shined his pistol. Now the day had come and you were panicking.
Jay texted you throughout the day words of encouragement and when he was leaving to ease your anxiety. It worked but as it got closer to 6:30 you got more and more nervous. You made sure to where your best outfit to make a good impression on Jay in the event that your family failed to.
Your phone buzzed and it was Jay.
The next thing you heard was the doorbell ring. You ran downstairs to try and beat your family but they were already there ready to answer. Your younger brother was the one to open the door.
“Who are you?” He asked with a frown.
Jay smiled politely. “Hi I’m here for Y/N’s family! I’m assuming you’re Baekhyun?”
Your little brother gasped with wide eyes.
“You know me?” He asked with shock.
Jay crouched down to his 10 year old figure.
“I do! In fact I know you so well I got you this game you’ve been wanting.” He says as he pulled a video game out of the gift bag he carried.
Baekhyun happily took the gift and laughed.
“Noona your boyfriend is Santa! I like him!”
You chuckled and watched as Jay stood up properly to meet your father.
“Hello Mr. Jung! I am Park Jeonseong but you may know me as my English name Jay. It is wonderful to meet you sir.” He said as he bowed.
Your father raised an eyebrow and took his hand to shake it.
“Well hello Jay! Welcome to our home.” He said with surprise. This was definitely a 360 from the last guy you tried to bring.
Jay took out a box from the bag and presented it to your father.
“Your daughter mentioned that you enjoy watching American basketball, specifically the Los Angeles Lakers. I hope you don’t mind but I was able to find a limited edition pen for you. I hope you enjoy it sir.” Jay presented the box which had your dad’s name engraved on it too.
The older man was very impressed. Clearly Jay put a lot of thought into his first impression and he was doing a damn good job.
“Why thank you Jay! This will go right on my desk! Please take off your shoes and come in!”
With that Jay slipped off his nice dress shoes and stepped into the guest slippers you laid out for him.
“So this is the most handsome Jay my daughter speaks of!” Your mom said excitedly.
Jay chuckled and bowed to her. “Hello Mrs. Jung! I have heard many great things about you and your cooking so I am very excited to meet you!”
Your mom opened her arms for a hug.
“Ah come here you! And just call me mom!”
Jay gladly took her hug invitation with a smile. When he pulled away he took a set of neatly folded aprons out of the bag.
“My mother helped me pick these out for you, I hope you enjoy wearing them.”
Your mom just about lost it. Did he really get a gift for each family member? Now that was how to make an entrance.
“Oh my stars let me put this on right now! Thank you so much Jay!”
He nodded and shifted his attention to your 14 year old sister who was gawking at the man in front of you guys.
Jay looked up at you briefly with a raised brow.
“And I’m going to assume that you’re Minji?” He asked.
She nodded with heart eyes. Honestly you couldn’t fault her, Jay was a handsome man.
“I’m also single.” She said.
Jay chuckled. “Well I’m not but I heard something about you wanting to marry Jungkook so…” he pulled out the BTS seven album. Minji gasped and almost cried. She had been saving up for that album!
“Oh my gosh you didn’t!”
“Oh I did!”
“Oh my gosh sis you literally have to keep him! Aaaahhhhh!” Minji practically screamed.
She happily took the album and went to unbox it on the couch.
Jay finally took a proper look at you and smiled with a blush.
“Well hello Miss Y/N!” He said jokingly.
You giggled at his politeness and went in to kiss him before he backed you off.
“Out of respect for your dad I’ll kiss your hand.” He said before he planted a kiss to the back of your hand.
You blushed at his actions. He was definitely making an impression.
“I’m surprised you remembered those details over the months!” You commented.
Jay shrugged. “Well I’ve been taking notes. Enough notes to remember your bouquet of eucalyptus, white roses, and baby’s breath.”
Your smile beamed and Jay felt like he was on top of the world. Making you happy felt like his new purpose in life. He would do anything to make you smile.
“Thank you so much, baby!” You said happily.
He followed you to the kitchen to put the arrangement in a proper vase.
“Sweetie why don’t you take Jay to your room, if it’s clean.” Your mom suggested.
You groaned at her last words. “Mom of course it’s clean!”
“Not always!”
You quickly took Jay upstairs to your room and just as you were about to close the door your dad shouted from downstairs.
“Open door policy tonight!”
You groaned annoyed with his words. Jay took a seat on your bed and looked around. The room was about what he expected from you; mostly organized, pastels, it was just you.
He looked up at you with a smirk. “Nice room you got here.”
You rolled your eyes and sat on his lap. “Better than yours.” You said referring to the many times you’ve been at his house.
“Hey I changed the bed sheets to white because of you so you’re welcome!”
You chuckled and leaned into him.
“So far so good huh?” He asked.
You nodded in his chest. “Better than I anticipated. And definitely way better than last time.”
Jay nodded and lifted your chin.
“Well now that we’re in your room…”
You looked at him mischievously.
“Yes…”
“I think I can finally kiss you without repercussions.” Jay said.
You chuckled and leaned in to meet his lips. He was pleasantly surprised by the new strawberry chapstick you wore specifically for tonight. He liked it a lot. Probably too much because there was a sudden knock followed by an ew! at your door.
“Sis mom said to tell you the food is ready! So disgusting.” Baekhyun said before heading downstairs.
Jay chuckled as you groaned annoyed with his behavior.
“I thought it was gonna be one kiss, it’s been like five minutes!” You complained.
Jay skidded you off of him and straightened himself up.
“I’ll make time for that later princess. Now let’s go eat!”

“Wow! The food was absolutely amazing Mrs. Jung!” Jay commented with a stuffed belly.
Your mom waved him off. “Oh please call me mom! And it doesn’t take much, just a little bit of love!”
You smiled happily. So far everything had gone right. The food was amazing, when your siblings tried things Jay went along with it, even your dad was impressed!
“So Jay, tell me about yourself.” Your dad requested.
Jay took a sip of water to prep himself. “Well sir, I am a full time student at the same university as your daughter and I work part time with my father. He has a company based in Seattle Washington in America so he travels quite a bit for work. I am studying business and plan to inherit the company and expand it here in Korea. I also play rugby for the university. I am fluent in English and am currently studying Japanese. Is there anything else that you would like to know about me sir?”
So far your dad was further impressed. He seemed to check most of the boxes but he still had one big question.
“Yeah, why my daughter?”
“Honey! I’m so sorry about him!” Your mother apologized.
You even gave your dad a look.
“No no it’s okay. Sir I think that’s a good question but the better question is why not your daughter? She is one of the most kind, caring, smart, beautiful individuals I know. She can adapt any role anyone needs her to be. When I need to talk she listens, when I need advice she gives it, when I need rest she lets me, and when I need attention she offers it. She is the first person everyone trusts. I have never met someone I could just look at and know I want to marry that person as soon as I can but she has that impact on me. This is a lovely family here and you all are amazing people. I know that I want to build what you have built sir and I want to build it with Y/N.”
The room went silent. You could almost hear a pin drop. You were in a bit of shock. No one had ever declared their love for you in that way.
“That shit was cute as fuck!” Your sister said with a quiet sob.
You hit her arm for ruining the moment.
“Minji watch the language!” Your mother said with a proud smile.
Your father unexpectedly stood up and walked over to Jay causing him to do the same. His face showed no emotion as Jay tried to hold his composure.
Then your father stuck his hand out and pulled Jay in for a hug.
“Welcome to the family, son.” He said with a newfound smile.
You smiled with tears pricking your eyes. Jay made sure you had no reason to regret your decision. He saw you and gave you a cheesy wink. All you could do was smile.
“Well that was wonderful Jay! And if everyone is finished I will get started on dishes.” Your mom said.
You quickly jumped up to help her, another thing Jay loved about you.
“Hyung do you play video games?” Baekhyun asked.
Jay smirked coolly. “Are you kidding? I’m a god at Call of Duty man!”
Before Baekhyun could drag him off your dad motioned him toward his study. You looked over with concern.
“What’s he doing, mom?”
Your mom shrugged as she ran hot water. “Who knows, it’s your father after all.”
Jay had no concern as he entered the study until he saw the pistol laying on the desk.
“Relax, son. I’m not gonna kill you it’s just for intimidation purposes.”
Jay relaxed in the chair and looked at your father with the most respect he could muster.
“Now my Y/N is my first born and I do not mess around when it comes to my children. I trust you but if she ever comes home hurt I will hunt you down, CEO or not.”
“I understand sir. I will do my best to keep her happy.” Jay responded.
Your dad nodded. “Good. She’s a great daughter but she can be stubborn like her mom. You gotta have a lot of patience with her. She’s also nervous about relationships. You’re probably aware of the last guy, he showed up in sweats so dress pants and a sweater is a nice change of pace.”
Jay chuckled at your dad’s words. “Yes sir she was actually concerned about me meeting everyone because of the last experience.”
“And she proceeded to stay with him for another 8 months or so? He was horrible. Now I don’t expect to see that behavior from you young man. I’m trusting you with her.”
After a while they finally came out of the study. Your mom watched how you looked at Jay with a smile.
“Go be with him!” She instructed.
You nodded and dried your hands to be with your man.
“So?”
“Everything is perfect, my dear!” He said calming.
You gave him the warmest hug. Jay would always cure your anxieties, that you could count on.
“Ice cream?” You asked muffled my his shirt.
He looked down at you with a raised brow.
“Ya’know, to celebrate!” You added.
Jay smiled and planted a kiss on your lips. “Grab your shoes, I’ll negotiate with the parents.”
You rushed upstairs only to find notes on your bed from your siblings.
Y/N he’s a good guy! He got me COD! I like him. Can we keep him?
Big sis thank you for showing me what love is supposed to look like. I need to find a guy as amazing as Jay.
You smiled and slid on a pair of shoes. As you got back downstairs your younger siblings were pestering Jay.
“Hyung I want ice cream too!”
“You can introduce me to your friends!”
“Okay that’s enough you two! Baekhyun I think it’s time your sister and I to enjoy our time together, yeah? And Minji you are 14 you have plenty of time to find a boyfriend who is your age!” Jay said
You quickly jumped in to save the day. “Ready?”
Jay smiled and nodded. “They gave me the okay so let’s go!”
The moment you both got in the car you let out a breath you didn’t know you guys had been holding.
“Did you mean everything you said at the table?” You asked.
Jay looked over at you and smirked. “Every last word. I’m gonna marry you and have a life with you. I mean that.”
That’s all it took for you to reach over a kiss your man. You accepted all of his love, his passion, you took all that he gave you. It broke Jay to pull away.
“Okay let’s head out of here before we start something we can’t finish!”
And with that he drove away to Baskin Robbin’s making sure to have you home by 12:00. Jay assured you that he understood how important first impressions were and we was going to make sure he made a good one every time.

Beauty From Darkness Part 4
Words: 4733
Pairings: Armand x Reader, Louis x Lestat still in denial, Gabrielle x Marius?
Summary: Armand and Reader are moving to a new life together and Armand hatches a plan that would be the finishing touches on the perfect life.
Everyone in the vampire quintet made the most of this opportunity. Gabrielle and Marius could not have been happier. It had been months and no one had slipped back into old habits. And although they acted as mom and dad to the group, they made a point of being there, but leaving everyone alone to do what they all needed to do. They were there to help but the guidance came from one another.
You and Armand had moved to Los Angeles together so you could be closer to your new record label. Although you had decided you decided to be companions half way through your tour, this was the first time that you were living together. It was perfect. Armand was thrilled that you wouldn’t have to travel for work outside of tours anymore. You were both glad to have the other around now. You were also thrilled to be closer to Daniel.
Together, you and Armand had kept your promise to Daniel to be there for him. It hadn’t taken long for the vampires of the world, the ones who were already threatening Louis, to realize that Daniel was also a vampire. The threats began and Daniel couldn’t really be bothered to give a shit about words. Then attacks began. The first had been orchestrated by a couple young fledglings trying to make names for themselves. Daniel was uninjured by the exchange, but it was enough for you and Armand to decide he needed to develop his gifts.
He had vaguely figured out how to read minds on his own, though the skill was unrefined at best. Luckily, he knew the basics and he was an eager student. By your suggestion, Armand worked to strengthen his mind gifts first. Daniel was a natural. After he’d figured out telepathy in all its wonders, it didn’t take him long to figure out pyrokinesis. He was trained to fight physically, though you didn’t think it was necessary since he had lit Armand’s sleeve on fire out of lingering spite. You really didn’t think an attack on him would have a chance to get physical.
You fell into a rhythm after that. You left Daniel and returned to your life in a new city. Armand made it his personal project to make your home absolutely perfect and he spared no expense. The entire house was remodeled. Your kitchen, which became a bit of a joke amongst vampires, was absolutely amazing. Louis stated that Gordon Ramsey would be jealous. The master bedroom was gutted and enlarged; Armand incorporated a sitting area around a fireplace, designed massive walk in his and hers closets. The en suite bathroom had both a walk in shower that doubled as a sauna as well as a bathtub that doubled as a jacuzzi. One of the several guest bedrooms was converted into a gigantic library that you knew Belle would have died for. The guest rooms were also given a revision and honestly you were worried that once someone visited, they wouldn’t leave. He had built you a castle.
Gabrielle and Marius moved to Los Angeles a little while after you had gotten situated. They claimed it was because they were part of your team so it made sense for them to follow you; you and Armand suspected they just wanted to be closer to the group. During a conversation with Gabrielle one night while you and Marius were off working, it was decided that Armand had come a long way towards giving you the perfect life. A thought began gnawing at his brain; your thoughts on what a perfect life would look like. By human standards, you were probably viewed as live-in boyfriend/girlfriend. Gabrielle was eyeing him suspiciously; seeing snippets of his thoughts.
“She has loved you for over two hundred years,” Gabrielle stated more or less to herself.
Armand looked to Gabrielle, fully catching her meaning. He knew that your biggest dream before had been to get married, but you often regarded it as a human fantasy now when the subject was brought up, though he knew you didn’t believe your own words. He was still at Gabrielle and Marius’ house when Marius returned, you must have gone home since you weren’t with him. He looked at the two and began working on his biggest plot yet. He was going to marry you. Both of the vampires quickly agreed to help.
You knew something was off as soon as he got home. His mind, which you always had full access to, was shut off. He was no less attentive to you, but you knew there was something he was hiding. This continued for weeks. He was never home when you got home from work and when he did get home, he was exhausted. You called Louis up and told him what was going on, but Louis didn’t know of anything happening that would make Armand, the vampire that was mad about you, act so weird. He tried to be supportive and convince you maybe it wasn’t something awful, but you could hear the underlying anger in his voice. That day when Armand got home, you were informed that he was throwing a party in a few weeks and that Gabrielle would be stopping by to help him. You were not excited.
Boxes were delivered full of things that Armand would not let you see. Stacks of chairs he gave no explanation for. The entire ballroom was listed as off limits to you until further notice. You were upset, he could see it, but once Gabrielle made the final move, he hoped you would figure it out enough to enjoy it; maybe you’d even be excited.
Marius left town for “work”, but since he worked for you, the excuse was thin. He wouldn’t tell you where he was going and by the time Louis and Lestat arrived, you were a wreck. You had promised each other no secrets and no lies. Now Armand was keeping secrets and lying by omission; he even had Marius in on it.
Gabrielle arrived the next day with a team of decorators that she unleashed on the ballroom. Clearly, she was also in on it. She threw clothes at you, a sign that she expected you to get up and get dressed. She did your hair and makeup in a way that didn’t scream shopping trip, it screamed prom or photoshoot. Once satisfied, she dragged you out of the house, Lestat and Louis watching you next to Armand, who looked sad and excited. Gabrielle would not tell you where you were going.
You arrived in front of a bridal shop that looked big enough to house every dress in the world inside. You were beyond confused. The only communication you got was from Gabrielle who instructed you to find your dream dress. You decide that she is a steel trap and it would probably be best and less painful to just listen and do as she told you. You tried calling to Armand, but he wouldn’t answer you despite the fact you could feel him there.
While you’re gone, Louis and Lestat take the opportunity to find out exactly what was going on. Armand doubts that either of them would be able to keep this from you, but seeing Louis getting progressively more pissed off, he decides that it would be wise to just tell them and hope for the best.
“I am prefacing this with that fact that I know we are vampires,” Armand began from his spot on the couch, he put his head in his hands before looking back up at Lestat and Louis. They both knew he was about to say something incredibly human. “(Y/N)’s dream was to get married. We all know how it worked out for her in the past, we aren’t here to rehash it, but I wanted to give her the wedding that she always dreamed of. I know she’s already my companion, but I really want this experience for her.” Louis couldn’t hold onto his anger after that. That was the single sweetest thing he had ever heard.
“And you’ve seen heredream wedding before?” Louis asked, unsure how he could know what she wanted otherwise.
“She pictures it often. Gabrielle and Marius are also helping me by adding the things they know about her as well. Marius is actually on an errand for me, but he should be back anytime.” Armand looked between the men sitting with him. He knew what he wanted to do, but doubted they’d do anything for him, he asked anyway. “Louis, I was hoping that you could stand with her as her Man of Honor?” Louis didn’t hesitate, he agreed before the question even left the air.
“Who will be your best man?” Louis questioned.
“Daniel has agreed to do it, but I’m certain that that is for her rather than for me.” Armand was surprised that anyone would ask about him.
“May I ask a question?” this was the first Lestat had said anything since Armand announced he was marrying you. Armand nodded for him to go ahead. “Do you have anyone walking her down the aisle?” Armand pondered this for a moment, an oversight on his part. “No, would you do it, Lestat? I think it would mean a great deal to her.” Lestat nodded. He was going to ask to do it, so of course he would when asked.
“Where is she now?” Lestat asked.
“Gabrielle took her to get her wedding dress.” Louis stood up and departed, stopping at the door only to announce that as the Man of Honor, he wanted to be there for the dress shopping. Lestat rolled his eyes at Louis.
“Too bad you killed Madeleine, she could have made the dress exactly as (Y/N) had always envisioned it.” Lestat passive aggressively stated while watching the fireplace. They may get along, but that didn’t mean all was forgiven.
Louis surprised you and Gabrielle by arriving at the shop. His mind was blank to you as well, though he looked like the cat that ate the canary. He sat with Gabrielle as you tried on a hand full of dresses, though you didn’t seem overly enthused about any of them. You wore them all well, they looked great, but you clearly weren’t in love.
“What are you looking for in a dress?” Louis asked her, trying to figure out exactly what she was looking for that might give her that spark that all of these dresses had failed to provide.
“I don’t know. I always imagined a ballgown with a corset back and lace, but now I don’t know.” Louis stood and disappeared into the endless rows of dresses searching for anything that resembled the image he had seen when you were describing it to him. He found three dresses. One was lace and appeared very dated to him, but you were two hundred and sixty-four so who cares. The other two were ball gowns with the corset back, but lacked lace. He lowkey liked these two better, but it was your wedding so he said nothing when he returned with the dresses to present to you.
You went back to the dressing room where you were helped into the first dress Louis had picked out. You loved it more than anything that had been picked out so far. It was a nice fit, more in line with your vision, but still didn’t do it for you. You went out to show Louis and Gabrielle.
“How do you feel about this one?” Louis asked after making you do a spin.
“It’s more in line with what I wanted, but I don’t think this is the one.” Louis nodded his agreement. The dress was stunning, but it wasn’t it.
Next you tried the lace dress. When you put it on, you realized you hated the feeling of the lace. You loved the look of it but the thought of putting it on made you cringe. You tried it on for Louis to see anyways, though you clearly hated it the whole time. Louis hated it more. You ran back to get it off as quickly as possible.
The last dress almost made you cry when you saw it. You got into it and lit up. When Louis and Gabrielle saw it, they both looked at each other and nodded. It was perfect. That was your dress. Gabrielle set out to find you shoes and accessories while you just kept staring at the mirror. Louis was grinning behind you.
She paid for it all before retuning back to you; she hadn’t put the card away completely and you caught sight of the name. Armand. You watched her in the reflection as she looked at you in the dress. You broke through the wall and saw the late nights with Armand and Marius planning everything. You saw Armand asking Louis to be your Man of Honor.
“I won’t let on that I know.” you said as you pulled them into a hug.
“Let’s make this your dream night, Ma Fille.” Gabrielle relied back from within the group hug.
You changed out of your dress and made your way back home. When you arrived, everything was suspiciously normal. Lestat was sipping a brandy with Armand and Marius in the living room. Gabrielle had taken your dress up stairs. You curled up next to Armand and watched the flames as everyone sat quietly together.
“Shopping successful?” Armand casually asked.
“I was certainly something.” You offered. You knew that he would stay out of your head to avoid seeing the dress.
The quiet resumed until Lestat decided that he was getting tired. Louis left with him since both of them were sharing a room due to the volume of guests. Daniel had just arrived and went straight to his room as to not tip you off. Marius and Gabriell retired to their rooms leaving you and Armand alone.
“Perhaps we should retire as well?” You agreed, already winding down from the eventful day you’d had.
Armand led you to your room and lit the fireplace. You sat on the sofa and watched the flames dance until you noticed that Armand was gathering a few things up. When you looked, he had a garment bag, shoes and other things he would need to get ready for the party, but he was gathering them up as if to take them somewhere. You were so confused.
Then he went back into the closet and returned with something behind his back. You watched him out of the corner of your eye as he looked at you smiling. You turned to look at him and your heart melted at the look on his face. He was thinking about how the flames danced off your face. It was the most beautiful sight he’d ever seen.
“Did you know that your family had a vault?” he asked, breaking the silence of the moment. You were unsure what to say.
“My family? No, I didn’t know about it.” you were confused where this was going, seemingly a trend lately.
“They did. It was in your home, which still stands today. The vault had remained untouched for over two hundred years until a few days ago when Marius went looking for it for me.” he stated matter of factly. “You see there was something in there that I needed to make this absolutely perfect.” he approached you, hands still behind his back.
“I really needed this to be perfect, and this was the missing piece.” He knelt down in front of you on one knee. “You are my everything. I love you more than you will ever know. You make eternity sound not long enough. You are my world. Will you do me the honor of not only being my companion, but of being my wife?” he pulled out a ring you would have known anywhere. The ring that had been your mother’s, grandmother and great grandmother’s wedding rings. The ring that was over four hundred years old and shined before you like it was brand new. The ring. The man presenting it to you. Everything was perfect.
“You already have me, My Love. Yes!” you launched yourself into his arms. You wanted to stay in his arms all night, but after a while of staying curled up on the couch, he stood and gathered his things.
“Where are you going?” you asked as he came over to give you a kiss.
“The groom isn’t supposed to see the bride on her wedding night. I’ll be right next door. Gabrielle will be around to help you get ready. I love you.” you gave him another kiss, hands tangling in his hair. His hands were full or you're pretty sure he would have stayed with you right then and there.
Bright and early by vampire standards, Gabrielle rushed in and shuffled you off to the bathroom where everything had been laid out to get you ready. She did your hair and make up, and after what felt like hours, she was finally pleased with her handy work. She moved to getting you into your dress. You were a picture of pure beauty. She was teary-eyed looking at you.
“Such beauty. My son is an idiot.” she smiled at you, “but Armand is one lucky man, Ma Fille.” as if summoned, Lestat knocked and entered. He looked handsome in his tuxedo.
“You look like a dream.” he smiled. “Everyone is ready when she is.” he informed Gabrielle. It was unsure if he had heard her comment about him being an idiot, but you got the feeling that he had. And that he probably agreed.
“I’m ready.” With that, Gabrielle did something she never imagined doing, she left you in Lestat’s care and made her way to the ballroom where her next task began.
“I hope you don’t mind that I am walking you down the aisle?” Lestat stated as he offered you his arm to escort you to your future.
“I’m glad it’s you, Lestat.” It was the perfect closure. One horrible wedding being replaced by what you already knew was going to be your dream.
Two doors separated you from your groom, the love of your life. You were already tearing up at the thought of him standing at the altar, waiting for his forever to walk down the aisle. The doors opened and the guests were all on their feet. Playing in the background was the song you had composed in Paris in 1805, the song of you and Armand. It was the perfect touch.
When you saw Armand standing there waiting for you, it took everything you had not to run to him. Lestat’s timed steps keeping you calm and composed. You walked past the faces of people you knew, all smiling back at you with pure joy.
Lestat stopped at the end of the aisle and placed your hand in Armand’s. Before taking his seat next to Gabrielle. You ascended the altar together and took your places with Daniel and Louis before Marius. Turning to face Armand, you got lost in his eyes. Those honey eyes that held forever.
“It’s not everyday that you get to celebrate a love as profound as the one Armand and (Y/N) have for one another.” Marius began. “It’s the kind of love that forgives and understands. That makes you want to be better for the other. Love that transcends time and distance to find its way back. I asked Armand what he loved most about (Y/N) one day; he told me she’s his home.” Armand was beaming at you.
“I asked (Y/N) the same question and she replied that Armand is her joy, her happiness, he is her other half.” Marius paused before continuing on; he was smiling like a proud father. “I have known both of them for a very long time. I knew each of them before meeting each other and after. I can tell you with absolute certainty, they are better together.” He smiled at his fledglings.
“I won’t bore everyone with the bit about sickness and health and death do us part. I think Armand and (Y/N) might be past all that,” he laughed at his own joke. “I think I will let them speak.”
“I knew in Paris that you were a home for my heart. Everynight with you felt like a dream and I didn’t want to wake up. Your absence was worse than death and I missed you immensely. I felt that I was just a shell of myself without you. Finding you again was a miracle that I’m sure many would say I didn’t deserve, but I thank the universe that it decided to give you back to me. You are my whole world. You are my very reason for living. You have made me a better man and I will love you until the end of time.” You mouthed I love you before it was your turn to speak.
“I once said that you are my best friend and my companion on all the late nights, but you have always been so much more. I believe that Marius made us so that we would one day find each other. You are my other half, my joy, my happiness. Without you, the stars don’t shine as bright and music is just sound. Eternal life loses all meaning. I will forever love you more.” you wiped your eyes as Marius continued. Daniel handed something to Armand.
“Since this isn’t your normal wedding, I think I speak for everyone when I say keep any objections to yourself, unless of course you want to be on the menu for the happy couple,” Marius was having entirely too much fun getting to speak.
“Armand, do you take (Y/N) to be your companion for all nights until the end of time?” Armand presented the ring that Daniel had handed him and slipped it on your finger.
“I do.” He had tears in his eyes now.
“(Y/N), do you take Armand to be your companion for all nights until the end of time?” Marius turned his gaze to you.
“I do.” Neither of you could look away from the other. You were so overcome with happiness you could barely wait for Marius to announce that you could kiss him.
“By the power vested to me by me, I now pronounce you Vampires Armand and (Y/N), companions for eternity and Husband and Wife. You may now get to the fun part and kiss the bride.” With that, you shared the sweetest most loving kiss that no one could stop. The audience erupted into cheers.
Once Lestat started playing and you made your way back down the aisle arm in arm with Armand. It was absolutely perfect. And even better still, Gabrielle had a wedding photographer capturing every moment. They set up for the classic wedding photos while the ballroom was rearranged to hold the reception. You were having the time of your life. Armand, Louis, Lestat, and Daniel posed with Marius. You and Gabrielle posed together in a few. There were several group shots too. You decided that you would have a massive one printed for over the living room fireplace.
The reception itself was a grand affair and was everything you had always imagined it would be. Your first dance with Armand felt like the only place you ever wanted to be. His arms were your home. And you never wanted the dance to end. Eventually it did and Daniel stole you away from Armand to spin you around the dancefloor himself. Marius stole you from Daniel for a waltz that was so well executed that you were really showing your ages. Louis stole you away when the jazz began and he had you laughing your way around the dancefloor. You had never felt more love in any place as you did right then. Eventually, Lestat cut in.
“Is it all you dreamed it would be?” he asked, spinning you.
“So much more.” you corrected as he dipped you.
“Thank you, (Y/N). For letting me share this with you.” Lestat rejoined Louis before you could respond.
Love was in the air. Lestat and Louis were inseparable despite claims that they were not together. Everyone was quick to notice that neither one corrected anyone when they were referred to as companions. Marius and Gabrielle were getting mighty close and everyone in the quintet was secretly hoping that something would come of it.
At daybreak, everyone retired to their rooms. You and Armand fought what he had coined “the narcoleptic pull of the sun” and spent the day doing what newlyweds do. From the sounds coming from Louis and Lestat’s room, it sounded like you weren’t the only ones. Eventually, you let sleep win in a tangle of limbs. You woke up late that night and decided that you wanted to go for a swim. You had the pool to yourselves. You wrapped your arms around Armand’s neck, foreheads pressed together.
“Everything was perfect, my love. Thank you.” You smiled into his neck.
“Anything for you.” he kissed you. You stayed in the pool until the sky began to lighten.
The next day, everyone left to return to their own homes. The party was over and you had a trip planned for you. Armand hauled you to the airport and took you back to the beginning. Paris. You visited the Louvre and all of the oldest streets in Paris. The same ones you walked down in the 1800s. You visited the tunnels that once led to Theatre des Vampires.
After Paris, you went on to Auvergne. The castle looked much the same as it had when you had lived there. It was your understanding that some faction of the de Lioncourt family still resided there. The family cemetery had grown over the years. You found the one the Marquis had put up for Gabrielle when it was obvious that she would die on her travels that led her to the Vampire Lestat. There was a headstone for Lestat when news traveled from Nicolas that he had disappeared in the middle of the night and had been assumed dead. And lastly, there was a headstone for you, your heart breaks. “(Y/N) de Lioncourt, Lost but not forgotten.” Armand pulled you close. Something about the fakeness of that family irked him. How could they love you so much in death, but let you suffer in life. You didn’t stay there past the cursory examination of the grounds.
Your last stop was at your very beginning. Your family home. Armand had stopped at the town hall and pulled records for the home. It had been standing empty since 1787, the year you died; also the year your mother reportedly died as well. When you arrived, nothing had really changed. The grounds were overgrown, but that was about it.
You ventured into the house to discover that all of your belongings were still there. The family portrait about the fireplace was faded but still clear enough to see those forever captured on the canvas. The bedrooms were all exactly as they had been left. Your books you had been forced to leave when you left for Auvergne were still on the shelf, albeit not in the same condition. Your dresses still hung in the closet, years of moths not doing them any favors. Armand found the journal that had been left in your nightstand. You didn’t care that he was reading it. None of the thoughts trapped on those pages mattered much.
“January 1, 1775, Dear Diary, Mother and Father are acting strangely as this new year begins. Even still, one thought follows me; I hope that I will get to marry the man of my dreams. Let him be strong and intelligent, kind and compassionate. I hope I can see the stars in his eyes. “ he read aloud.
“249 years later, Dear Diary, we did it. It was a long road full of loneliness and heartbreak. We never thought we would live to see the day, but he saved us. He’s strong, smart, and caring with honey eyes. And we are forever surrounded by stars. I love him completely.” You wrote back.

"The Young Turks" co-host Ana Kasparian explained what drove her to ditch the Democratic Party while on Jillian Michaels' "Keeping It Real" podcast on Monday.
The progressive media host described feeling "politically homeless" over the past few years, as she started seeing an intolerance to debate and the free exchange of ideas as well as an embrace of soft-on-crime policies by the left that she believed were detrimental to society.
She ripped efforts to "demonize and even dehumanize the other side" while admitting she used to be a person who believed you could not be friends with conservatives or someone who supported former President Trump. Both women said they identified with disaffected Democrats who now feel unwelcome in their former party.
Kasparian said a turning point for her was when she was scolded by liberals after confessing she was fearful to leave her house after being sexually assaulted by a homeless man while walking her dog in Los Angeles in 2022. "Before I knew it, I started getting these messages, and it's really, really harsh stuff, about how, ‘You are painting a picture of the homeless community. How could you be like this? These are your unhoused neighbors and they need help,'" she said of the negative messages she received. "A few people accused me of being racist, even though I had never disclosed the race of the individuals who did this to me. And in fact, they were White," Kasparian continued.
"That woke me up," Kasparian said. "Some of the people that I've associated myself with because I thought they were the good people….They definitely have stereotypes in their head and are totally blind to the fact that they have those stereotypes and go around accusing others of being bad actors when they themselves need to do the work."
Kasparian said she also disagreed with the "defeatist mentality" shown towards minorities.
"At some point last year, the other thing that really hit me was the difference between my upbringing and what the Democratic Party espouses," Kasparian said.
She described being raised by "very tough" parents who taught her to work hard to be self-sufficient and create her own opportunities. While she acknowledged there are obstacles today that some younger people are facing that older generations may not have had to face, she still sees America as a land of opportunity, which she said goes against messaging from the Democratic Party.
"However, we all get to wake up in the morning and make choices for ourselves. And when I hear the Democratic Party constantly disempower people of color, because that's what they're doing," she said.
"They keep using this messaging that infantilizes them and makes them seem as though, you know, if it weren't for us White saviors, messing around with these laws and policies, they would never be able to survive. And I find that so gross," she continued. Kasparian gave examples of how a Los Angeles school district scrapped its honor student program because there wasn't enough Hispanic students enrolled in the program. "That p---d me off," Kasparian said. "It's doing away with an opportunity rather than seeing what the flaws are in our education system and then rising to the occasion to help these students, where we do see the disparity, to get to where we want them to be. That's the right way to approach it. But there's just this weird defeatist mentality. And I'm honestly also very sick of White people going around being offended on behalf of marginalized people."
"They're just virtue signaling. It's disgusting," Michaels agreed.
"We should celebrate people who want to better themselves and better their lives," Kasparian said later in a discussion about the "fat-acceptance" movement on the far-left.
"Instead, there's this effort to basically tell people, ‘you're fine the way you are, you don't need to change a thing,' even if that thing is slowly killing you. It doesn't make any sense," she continued.
The pair also said they've seen their home state of California become "crazy" over time from when they were growing up.
Michaels, who left California in 2021, has previously shared how the deep blue state's soft-on crime policies drove her and her family to leave and move to Miami.
"Nothing was crazy like this right?" Michaels told Kasparian. "Homelessness, crime, advocating for medicalization of children, advocating for late-term abortion?"
Gov. Gavin Newsom is leading the "madness" in the state, Michaels said. "The concern is that it goes from California to a federal problem."
"Unfortunately, some of the failed policies we've started here have been exported to other states," Kasparian agreed.
Fox News Digital reached out to Newsom's office for comment, but did not immediately hear back. _____________________________
Gotta be real far gone for someone like Kasparian, to ditch you.

Thousands have hit the streets in NYC, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and dozens of other cities. A DC protest organized by Jewish activist groups drew thousands, and hundreds were later arrested, including two dozen Rabbis. An estimated 25,000 people showed up to a rally in Chicago. These events show no signs of stopping, with many more planned across the coming days. These actions have gone beyond marches, with protesters showing up at the offices and homes of politicians demanding a ceasefire. Six activists were arrested at a pro-Palestine rally outside the Boston office of Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). A large crowd demonstrated outside the Brooklyn home of Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Jewish protesters showed up outside the Brentwood house of VP Kamala Harris. IfNotNow members have held sit-ins at the DC offices of Schumer, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), and Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA). Former staffers for Warren, Sanders, and Senator John Fetterman have publicly urged the lawmakers to back a ceasefire. On October 25, tens of thousands of students across more than 100 North American campuses united in a walkout to demand an immediate ceasefire, an end to unconditional support for Israel, and university divestment from the corporations funding the occupation of Palestine. On the night of October 27 Jewish activists shut down Grand Central Station, leading to the arrest of over 300 people. “This is bigger than we’ve ever seen,” US Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR) Executive Director Ahmad Abuznaid told Mondoweiss. “This is the result of decades of work that we’ve put into this movement, and I think some of it is connected to the [George Floyd protests of 2020]. There was so much racial, social justice, anti-war building in that moment.

“The man broke my heart,” Palestinian-American comedian Maysoon Zayid told Politico on October 23, “I never in my life thought the empathizer-in-chief would sound the way he did. The Palestinians were given no humanity. Joe Biden should spend every breath he has condemning Israel’s genocide with the same zeal he condemned Hamas’ massacre of civilians, that same zeal. And we get nothing. 1,000 children are dead, and we get nothing.” “It’s really crazy to me that the Democratic party destroyed 20-years of worth of good will with Muslims and Arabs in just 2 weeks, losing an entire generation that was raised in the progressive coalition, possibly forever,” tweeted author and activist Eman Abdelhadi. “The rapidity of it, the finality–it’s astonishing.” “While Republican disregard for Muslim and Arab lives is clearly on display, some Muslim and Arab Americans also feel like the Democratic Party largely takes their vote for granted, though Democrats’ policies never reflect as much,” writes Dana El Kurd in The Nation. “One Arab American friend expressed to me that, at least under Republican administrations, ‘Arabs could find allies’ in their opposition.”
