if i had a nickel every time i consumed a piece of media where the male protagonist meets a well-spoken man of a higher class than him, crosses the boundaries of the professional relationship they were supposed to have, is later suddenly abandoned by said man, becomes so tortured by the memories of him that he recklessly goes after him, then meets a member of his family on the way, and eventually reunites with him at a museum in europe as they both stare at an art piece – i'd have two nickels, which is not a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

just started reading the case files of jeweler richard (i remember watching the anime a few years and just never had the time to read the light novels) and i'm so mad at how underrated this series is, it's so lovely! it's just very warm and therapeutic and full of gentle care, i wish more people knew how good it was!

the official english translations for the first 8 novels are out and i think the 9th is being released soon! please read it - it touches on so many important issues and is just a delight to read!

Jeweler Richard & Seigi no Mikata really be my fave duo

Been catching up with the LN for the past 3 days and cb that vol 06 is will be released 2 months from now so how long before the copies reaches PH shores, I wonder *sobs in lapiz lazuli*

While I love the individual stories for JR, I still wonder about some phrases and terms if it were in Japanese. Still wish we have footnotes, @sevenseasentertainment ー still, amazing job for this wonderful series!!! Keep at it, love you!

I've been stewing in feels for a good year already and I reaaaaaally want more folks to read The Case Files of Jeweler Richard like some bits that I love would be

How Richard + Seigi dynamics is a journey from being boss × part-timer to being less friends, less lovers ー just plain love as Seigi puts it

Analyzing every Richard + Seigi interaction, they have the most subtext-laden conversations and reading about every nuanced expression makes every volume a treat

Tanimoto's character is so well put together ー relatable on how love can be such a foreign concept but shows such positivity in exploring more about this aspect of herself which makes ot so hopeful and beautiful

Lots of facts about gemstones, like I find myself searching to double check and it is such a delight how Tsujimura-sensei put a lot of palatable info into each story (surprise I remember most of 'em, yay)

Yukihiro-sensei makes the most beautiful covers I just wanna cry like we're having Richard hime moments & Seigi's maturing as well

I mean look at vol 05, Richard has no reason to look that delicate

We have a long, long, long way to go and I am on board with reading up until we reach the latest vols

This!!! ANNNDDD Vince too, he's been getting on my nerves all through them damn sentences I be reading him on being cryptic and just being a complete obsessive weirdo helping Octavia like bro this was your boss how many years ago..? And you spied on him....and you were mad at him when he did nothing to you but be your boss soooo....???? Huh?? 😭

So I finished volume 7 and am currently halfway through the first case of volume 8, and… unless I missed something, I seriously hope the reason for Octavia, this 17 year old girl, taking revenge on the Claremont brothers(Richard, Jeffrey and Henry) isn’t because Jeffrey caused the break up between Deborah and Richard… because that’s honestly kind of ridiculous. 

From what I’ve read so far this seems to be the reason why she’s been doing what she’s doing(Seigi’s passport info getting leaked, somehow managing to rope Vincent into this whole thing and getting him to place the jewel into Seigi’s pocket which caused him to be accused of stealing, and if succeeded would’ve been really bad for Seigi). And she’s still going to do more.

I want to believe there’s another reason for her vengeance. Really, I hope there is. A reasonable one that’s enough for her to have done all that to Seigi and the Claremont brothers. Because right now she just looks like some crazy fangirl who’s blackmailing and threatening people because her favourite ship didn’t become canon. Since I’ve only started volume 8, it might be revealed later, or maybe even in volume 9 or 10. 

That aside, Seigi managed to learn basic French in just two weeks and sound native enough that the taxi driver asked him how long he has been in France and if he’s living here and not believe him when Seigi said he was just a tourist and this was his first time speaking the language to a French person. Wow, Seigi.

richard has the patience of a god because wdym he’s felt affection for seigi ever since he met him and now it’s been almost 10 years and seigi’s only then confessed his feelings and doesn’t know how to initiate physical contact so richard just has to be like haha it’s okay i’ll wait for you forever I JUST KNOW HE’S DYING ON THE INSIDE
