If anyone needs me, I'm going to be over here for the next week completely destroyed over the scene where Pisaeng kept saying that he was Kawi's loved one, but the doctor kept refusing to let him see Kawi because he wasn't legally his spouse.

never not thinking about the interaction between moonstruck rikki and zane in 1x18 'bad moon rising' btw. rikki is feeling so utterly alone and isolated, she exiles herself to mako island in the middle of the night so as not to poison anyone else with her perceived dysfunction. yes she is literally setting everything around her on fire and has to escape for safety reasons lol but it's a metaphor for her feeling like she is a volatile force in the lives of her loved ones

then zane wanders by and gives her the last thing she would ever expect from him: kindness. compassion. empathy. arrogant, selfish, obnoxious zane sits with her in the fire and lets her speak about how overwhelmed she feels as a result of her self-imposed loneliness. not only that, but he tells her he understands, that he sees her perspective and feels that very same sense of isolation. maybe he tells her she looks a mess because he's zane lol but he does so in the same breath as gently removing a piece of debris from her hair

that same gesture prompts rikki to lean in and kiss him. of course this ends with them surrounded by a ring of fire and zane passed out cold, signifying that any attempts for rikki to find true, healthy, meaningful connection is impossible. ultimately she sees herself as a destructive force, hurting those she wishes to care for. she later proclaims to emma that she is better off on her own

then, despite all of this, rikki and zane fall in love. they share an unspoken agreement that he won't press her on things she isn't ready to talk about, that night on mako island or her inclination towards mystery. the care and empathy and mutual respect they shared that night reverberates throughout their entire relationship. they have shown one another a type of vulnerability they never display with anyone else, understand one another like two sides of the same coin. rikki herself says it best: zane gets her.

This is my filter, but I truly believe that when people frame friendships with other genders as a "waiting spot" for developing further romantic relationships, it really takes away from the quality of the actual friendship. After all, the best friendships are ones without ulterior motives, and when you genuinely care for each other.

I've just realised what's the most unrealistic thing about medical drama series: when a patient really wants to leave and they rip off everything attached to their body (sometimes with the iv stuff) without streaming in pain. It's probably because they don't use those strong hospital bandaids.

Just finished watching The Artful Dodger on Disney + (in the UK). Can't recommend enough. Totally enjoyable, great pacing, witty and insightful (but not in a preachy way, in a 'omg I didn't actually know that about life, history and medicine and that's so interesting' way), bit of Peaky Blinders style modern music to get you amped for all the crime caper parts. It's graphically gory in places but I just watched through my fingers 😅

It's got the kid from Love Actually and Queens Gambit. And the werewolf teacher from the best Harry Potter film. Don't know the rest of the cast but they are all great. Especially the mother.

I've never read/watched the source material so I can't comment on the accuracy. I think I saw the animated version with the cats once but I don't remember any of it. But you can def enjoy without knowing the original story.

My husband makes fun of me for having new kdramas on in the background while I'm puttering around (because I can't read the subtitles if I'm not looking at the tv, obvs, so he says I can't understand it), BUT my logic is this: at times, I don't have the mental or emotional capacity to suffer the plot twists of new shows in English. The kdramas I choose are formulaic enough for me to know what's gonna happen without knowing what's happening. I know the girl's gonna get drunk/hurt and get a piggy back ride, I know the leads gonna have a moment in a playground, I know there's gonna be a trying-on-cute-clothes montage, I know there's gonna be a relationship hiatus in the last episode, etc etc

It's familiar enough to be comforting, but new enough to be interesting. And if I do miss something important, like the girl tripping and conveniently falling into the leading man's arms, I know that it'll show the same event about 5 more times from different angles and various speeds 😊

you guys....... YOU GUYS.......... i just finished s1 of grey's anatomy and i have Thoughts.

first of all, love sandra oh and cristina SO MUCH <3 she's my bestfriend she would trade me for hard candy she's the love of my life. her struggles with being a people person are so relatable to me bc i used to have a very hard time during most of my life to relate to others (i'm kinda more like izzie in a way now) so that was . Great to see. (also her thing with dr burke is so!!!!!!! it had me giggling like omg raw lust in their eyes and the "you're the only one" line and just that whole scene..... i need them to adopt me legally.)

then meredith i don't.. really care abt tbh she lives in the shadow of her amazing mom who can't even remember who she is anymore. it is tragic and she's rlly good at what she does but her continuing the affair with derek aka doctor mcdreamy pissed me off quite a lot so. since she seems to have nothing else going for her i'm kinda just hoping her scenes end early as of rn. it could change later on tho there's 20 seasons of this shit lmfao

someone who i liked from the beginning is george because god he's SUCH a loser i need him PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!! i need him to be bisexual and have such hard raw anal sex he can't walk for a week and feels like he's been knotted for life but i also need him to date izzie like this is insane!!!!!!!!!! he's so anxious all the time and has 0 social skills and i love him sorry to any haters u will never see me hating him,,,,

i don't have any other strong feelings towards others as of rn, i love izzie and want to see more of her backstory, but as of rn cristina and george are my faves! who knows what will change next season but we're gonna find out soon (it's already opened and ready to play)
