JRA Animatronic Thoroughbreds [And One Pony]

Hello, I'm Mod Horse and for my first post this year, I'll be sharing these AMAZING animatronic horses created to promote the JRA [Japan Racing Association].

The white thoroughbred and his pony friend were displayed at the Shiodome in Tokyo during 2019, while the chestnut was/is displayed at the Equine Cultural Affairs Foundation Of Japan. The black horse and the bay horse featured models astride them [I believe the white one did as well, though I'm having difficulty finding images] and were featured at Tokyo Station, evidently. The description of this video featuring the black and bay states they had "warm breath and twitching skin" included, which would be a hell of a feature!

I've linked the videos featuring these gorgeous creations in motion in the paragraph above, so definitely check them out! They seem to have been reused and refeatured here in there across the time between their rollout and now, so there's quite a few different photos of them out there.

They're incredibly stunning and they are truly lifelike, a difficult task on anything less than a feature film budget. Or maybe anything less than the JRA's special events publicity fund! They've funded some truly amazing collaborations and events, one of which I'll be sharing sooner or later, work schedule allowing....

You're a struggling ranch hand that picks up a second job at the superstar daycare. You don't work with kids and you don't work with animatronics and...despite having extensive experience with horses, that doesn't really help you. Goofy shenanigans ensue.

I was trying to listen to some dramatic music to get my head in the game of coming up with interesting ways for Roxy, the Minis and Barney (Foxy's bird) to take down all the other animatronics, and I forgot my fatal flaw of finding horses incredibly dramatic.

I will not add animatronic horses to this. I will not. The temptation is there, but I won't do it. They would be out of place. I say as typing the words immediately hits me with a way to make them make sense. I won't do it. Not because I can't, but because I have enough modes of transport to work with already. None of you are allowed to let me keep doing this.

Cowboy redesigns from forever ago that I forgot to post ^^

Sundown and Moonhigh are two performer animatronics that have a sort of 'cop and robber' routine where Sun plays the role of a sheriff and Moon the criminal. While they make put on an act of hatred on stage, behind the curtains, the two are inseparable

Moonhigh

Behind Moonhigh's swave and laid back veneer, he's just like any other Moon, a lover of mischief and play

I was also like 100% sure that moonhigh was an actual term??? Its not!!!!! It's from warrior cats

Moonhigh's clothing is desaturated due to sun bleaching and dust, his clothing is not as well taken care of as Sundown's both because of neglect from staff and Moonhigh's general distrust of them. This neglect is also the reason for his damaged faceplate as it was deemed too expensive to completely replace it and the injury enhanced how scary he was as a villain

Moonhigh's cape also doubles as a blanket! He takes good care of it and even washes it himself. It’s also handy for applying pressure to wounds, not that Moonhigh would ever need to use it for that purpose.

Moonhigh's designated flavour is coconut and he's usually seen in the Fazwest's milkshake bar between performances

Sundown

Sundown is a lot sweeter than most Suns though he does have his moments of apathy towards others due to him not quite understanding other's troubles due to his cushy treatment from staff

He shares the same general anxiety and mannerisms as his predecessors, he's always twitching and bouncing around

Sundown was similarly injured at to Moonhigh at some point but his faceplate was fixed, giving him a shiny green eye

Sundown has scarily accurate aim

Sundown's designated flavour is mango and he's usually seen in the horse stables in between performances

* I'd post a page with all of them on and anyone that wants to play would comment, reblog or send an ask with their guesses. I'd then make another post that tags whoever made guesses (obviously can't do that with anon guesses) with the answers after a day or two, with some more information on each of them.

Could alternatively post each horse picture individually and have a poll under it for guesses? I dunno, if enough people want to play, I'll poll for how I do it too lmao

I was thinking of doing two pages that are the same, except one has them all tacked up (with the saddles and stuff on) while the other doesn't. Like a hard mode and an easy mode for the game, ya know?

I'm gonna try and rope some Discord friends in on this anyway, so this poll is just to see if anyone else would want to play btw

(Also no guarantee I'll ever actually get around to doing this but I live in hope)
