Hi there, all you holly jolly people! I'm back with another list for my "12 Days of Prompts."
This one is based on the second Christmas horror movie that my family and I have made a tradition of watching every single year and that, of course, is "Gremlins."
"Gremlins" has been one of my favorite movies since I was a little girl, I even had one of those singing Gizmo dolls! So as you can tell this Christmas horror movie has a very special place in my heart so I absolutely had to include it.
Like always if you do use these prompts please tag me so I can see what you’ve made!
I hope you all stay blessed and safe throughout your day.
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays: Celia ❤💚❄⛄🎄
"Well, that's the story. So the next time your air-conditioner goes on the fritz, or your washing machine blows up, or your video recorder conks out, before you call the repairman, turn on all the lights. Check all the closets and cupboards. Look under all the beds. 'Cause you never can tell. There just might be a gremlin in your house," - "Now I have another reason to hate Christmas," "What are you talking about?" - "Gremlins, huh?" "Yes," "Little monsters?" "Right," "Hundreds of them?" "I don't know, maybe thousands. Look, I know it sounds crazy. I know it does, but in a matter of hours, this town's going to become a major disaster area! You have got to warn people!" - "Keep him out of the light. He hates bright light. Especially sunlight - it'll kill him. And keep him away from water. Don't get him wet. But the most important rule, the rule you can never forget - no matter how much he cries, or how much he begs, never, never feed him after midnight," - "GET OUT OF MY KITCHEN!!!" - "If it isn't Captain Clip-on! Guess who almost filed for unemployment today? "I give up," "You!" -
"What're they doing?" "They're watching Snow White… And they love it,"
-
"Honey, this is the gentleman who sold me the Mogwai," "Sold? An interesting choice of words,"
-
"They're clever. They're mischievous. They'll get into the kitchen, the basement, the garage. They'll get into anything. And once they get in… you're in for it," - "Sir, before you go, I want you to know I am truly sorry for all this. I want to offer you this. There's one. There's one other one but it's an invention of mine," - "The boss had other ideas. He gets so sentimental around the holidays. I would've fired you in a heartbeat," "And a merry Christmas to you too. Now excuse me," - "You think the kid's drunk?" "No, but you are," - "Let me drive," "No, you're drunk," "You always get to drive!" "Cause I'm the sheriff, asshole!" - "I warned you brats!" - "It's the creatures! The creatures are making it look like an accident! Sheriff! WILL YOU LISTEN TO ME?!" - "Tell me something. How does a cute little creature like this turn into a thousand ugly monsters?" "Well, this is before it enters the pupal stage," "The pupal stage?" - "He does Santa every year!" "Yeah, but what the hell is he doing now? What's that stuff he's got all over him?!" - "And that's how I found out there was no Santa Claus," - "To hear, one has only to listen," - "What are they?" "They're the Mogwai… I guess," "Did you give them water?" "No," "Did you feed them after midnight?" "Well, I gave them some chicken but… No, wait, I made sure. Mom, what's going on here?" - "What are they!?" "They're gremlins! Just like he said!" - "Christmas carolers, I hate Christmas carolers! Screechy-voiced little glue sniffers!" - "What's this?" "It's your Christmas present from me," "This crummy old broom? What am I supposed to do with it?" "I thought you might need a ride home," - "You haven't seen my new apartment," "I haven't seen your old apartment," - "You should just buy orange juice in cartons, it's a lot easier," - "This is a cacoon, and inside he's going through changes. Lots of changes," - "You say you hate Washington's Birthday or Thanksgiving and nobody cares, but you say you hate Christmas and people treat you like you're a monster,” - "What is that dog doing here!? This is a bank, not a pet store!" - "They're here! Oh, they've come for me! They've come… I… I… I'm not ready! I'm not ready yet! I'm not READY!" - "Mom, they've hatched. Get out of the house!" - "So, cool it, will you? - "The attendant from your local gas station tried to sell me his; I'm sure it will come in handy," - "Will you sign this petition? They're trying to close down the tavern," "Sure! That's where my dad proposed to my mom, you know," "That's where everyone's dad proposed to their mom," - "It's Christmas!" "Well now you know what to ask Santa for, don't you?" - "The bank and I have the same purpose in life; to make money. Not to support a lot of deadbeats," - "Cover your mouth, don't breath in the gas!" - "One, two, three, four, five new ones! Now can I have one?" "I don't know," "Hey, look! That one's got a cute little stripe on its head! Hey, cutie," - "Bright light! Bright light!" - "They're inside!" "All of them!?" - "They put them in cars, they put them in your TV. They put them in stereos and those little radios you stick in your ears. They even put them in watches, they have teeny gremlins for our watches!" - "I always thought everyone was happy during the holidays, no matter what," - "He has something to say to you," "You mean you understand what he's saying?" - "Perhaps one day, you will be ready. Until then, the Mogwai will be waiting," - "Sorry, Dad," "No, it's okay," "No, I'm really sorry," "It's not your fault, I was going to get to that. I'll fix it tomorrow," - "Hey, gang, It's been a rough night for Rockin' Ricky, but he's still on the air!" - "There's these little green guys with big teeth running around town wrecking things," "Kid, this is Christmas, not Halloween!"

Idk if you’ve done this yet but ways to describe a dark/scary motel/house? Something straight out of a paranormal horror story to be precise.
Thank you!! 🫶🏼
I love love love horror. If you ever want more horror prompts please let me know :)
Descriptions of Haunted Locations
-> feel free to edit and adjust pronouns as you see fit.
The doors of the motel were identical, nothing differentiating them besides the rusted numbers. They were dirty, as if they had never been cleaned, and the paint had been chipped off over time. Some of the doors looked like they were covered in claw marks-- fingernails digging into the old paint in chilling, desperate lines.
The house was old. It looked like it hadn't been cared for in decades. The grass in the yard was up to her knees and ivy leaves grew on the exteriors of the house and rooted in the gutters. The windows were boarded up, making it look abandoned. The only way to glimpse the inside of the house was through the attic window.
The entry way was filled with dust. It lingered in the air and on every surface. He glanced up at the antique chandelier hanging high overhead, seeing the dirt and grime that dirtied the glass crystals. He tried the light switch, flicking it up and down but to no avail. When he turned on his phone's flashlight, and shone it through the dusty air, a shadow passed in front of him, darting through the entry way and up the stairs.
The motel room was small, the bed made with a comforter that looked like it came from their great-grandmother's house. It was a dirty floral pattern, with yellow pillows that were probably once white. The carpet was stained. Either with blood or dark red wine, they weren't sure. And the window that looked out onto the walkway was covered in fingerprints.
Taxidermy. The lobby of the motel was filled with horrible dead animals mounted to walls and displayed in the corners. She was near certain that their eyes would move. As she checked in, the taxidermy squirrel that sat on the desk stared at her with it's teeth bared.

Horror Literature Prompt List
I spent some time pulling crunchy quotes from respected horror authors (and a bonus philosopher) to ignite our twisted little minds this spooky season. Please enjoy! Made for @dadrunkwriting
“He couldn't get a grip on his sudden fear: it slipped through the safety bars of his mind and threaded—wormed—into the shadowy pockets where nightmares grew.” ― Nick Cutter, The Troop
"Pick a sin we can both live with, is what I ask." ― Joe Hill, Horns
“There is something at work in my soul, which I do not understand.” ― Mary Shelley, Frankenstein
“Do you think she can see us, talking to one another now? Do you think the dead come back and watch the living?” ― Daphne Du Maurier, Rebecca
“If you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.” — Friedrich Nietzsche
“Am I walking away from something I should be running away from?” — Shirley Jackson, The Haunting of Hill House
“The air out here was ghostly, craving something of her. Something she would never let herself give.” ― Alma Katsu, The Deep
“Passion has little to do with euphoria and everything to do with patience. It is not about feeling good. It is about endurance. Like patience, passion comes from the same Latin root: pati. It does not mean to flow with exuberance. It means to suffer.” ― Mark Z. Danielewski, House of Leaves
“Everybody is a book of blood; wherever we’re open, we’re red.” ― Clive Barker, Books of Blood
“What looked like morning was the beginning of an endless night.” ― William Peter Blatty, The Exorcist
“There hasn’t been a time that we weren’t dying slow. The world just learned how to make it happen faster. While we weren’t looking,” ― Kristi DeMeester
Madness is when all your nightmares have come true and you just don’t care anymore. - Simon R. Greene, For Heaven’s Eyes Only
“Stare at the dark too long and you will eventually see what isn’t there.” ― Cameron Jace, Snow White Sorrow
“The words thumped deep and low, rhythmically, like a little drum in a wooden box, beaten by unseen hands in a black room that opened doors onto another place you could not see the end of.” ― Adam Nevill, No One Gets Out Alive
“But they are only the faces of the dead. Coming into detail as we hurtle toward them. They see us, too. Fingers scratching at the ice’s rough underside, desperate to be the first to pull us down.” ― Andrew Pyper, The Damned
"Do not call up any that you cannot put down." ― H.P. Lovecraft, The case of Charles Dexter Ward
“There were always stories; people had to talk. Even if they were dying. Maybe the tongue was the last to go.” ― Kathe Koja, Bad Brains
“The light in the gallery changed subtly and he whirled and saw someone approaching him from between the exhibit cases. The individual moved with alarming speed, bent low to the floor, but straightening as he or she drew nearer. Unfolding…” ― Laird Barron, The Croning
“I think it’s good to be afraid. It means that I’m alive.” ― Paul Tremblay, A Head Full of Ghosts
“The cool breeze that ruffled her hair felt like something more than wind.” ― Bentley Little, The Influence

Hello! I'd like to request how to describe a stalking scene from the perspective of the person being stalked. Thank you so much for your time and all your help 🩷🩷🩷
Writing Prompts about Being Stalked
-> feel free to edit and adjust pronouns as you see fit.
She could feel eyes watching her, but none of the people on the busy street seemed to be looking her way.
As he walked, he could hear a second pair of footsteps behind him. They echoed his steps in near-perfect unison, but as he quickly came to a halt, he couldn't miss the extra step that followed.
Their blood froze, their heartbeat pounding so loudly in their ears that they thought they were going to go deaf. Ever-so-slowly, they turned around.
She didn't dare turn around, not wanting whoever was following her to know that she was aware of their presence. She carefully reached into her purse and brought her cellphone to her ear. "[Name]? Hey, I'm on your side of town and was wondering if you'd like to get lunch with me? Yeah, that sounds great. I'll come to your place."
He whipped around, lightning fast. The man following behind him hesitated for a moment, before swiftly crossing the street. "Hey!" He yelled, already chasing after the man. "Get back here!"
They were too scared to go home. They couldn't risk leading the stalker right to their front door. Where could they go that's safe?
She just had to stay in a public place, that's all. As long as she wasn't alone with whoever was following her, she would be alright. Maybe she could even call [Name] to come pick her up?
He couldn't help but to feel as if he were being followed, but he didn't want to make any rash decisions. Maybe they were just going in the same direction? He'll make four right turns, and if that person is still behind him, then he's definitely in trouble.
With their heart in their throat, they turned around. There was a man, dressed in casual streetwear and sunglasses. They didn't think they recognized him, but they weren't certain. Their hand gripped the pepper spray in their bag as they called out to him, "Who are you?" They swallowed, trying not to sound so afraid. "Why are you following me?"
She heard the unmistakable sound of a camera shutter echo down the quiet street. She turned around, unable to find the source of the noise.

I loved the mistletoe kiss tag in the prev years, and haven't had any holiday specials for my stories in a while, so here's an event of some sort: Those who follow me for a little while already know that winter is one of my favourite seasons right after autumn. It's a time, when I feel others a bit closer to myself, and when it feels like most things are possible. Maybe it's the last sprints of the year as its slowly coming to its end. Maybe it's the looming new beginning that teases us too early. I'm not sure, but I know that a lot of us either craves or simply has their creative juice filled for this period. This year winter came early (at least in my area) so I'm here to offer you some writing prompts for this coming december, and invite y'all to the celebration of everything that winter might mean to you or your characters. Of course, not everyone celebrates christmas, nor necessarily likes or has fond memories with winter, so I tried to put together the list in a way that gives room for personal interpretation. This post only contains the list of prompts without any special rules and it's for anyone to use it as they like. However, if you tag your work with #allthatthawsinthecold, and/or tag me under your snippet, I'll reblog it in december to spread the spirit of this little, made up event. Happy writing!
