A small cut of dialogue from NxC that my brain decided to process very un-seriously. Part of it is Hiryu's line-- fan-translated to something on the lines of "I don't care" so I don't know the original words-- which felt so sudden with how he shut down Hien like that.

That other is that Juno and the Strider hires don't closely interact with each other, but they're part of the same team. So I have to wonder how that's like. I'm focused on one of the humans for a reason.

i think one of viago’s least favorite games magpie likes to play is when she claims she and viago are Actually siblings. if anyone mentions the elf thing she’ll shrug and say they’re half brothers. no one but the most oblivious fledglings believes this but magpie isn’t in the business of saying true things to be believed she’s in the business of 1. saying words recreationally and 2. bothering viago and she is definitely achieving her goals. viago insists she stop saying this for many reasons, not least of which is that His Actual Father Is The King Of Antiva but magpie has never listened when viago told her no in her entire life (or at the very least as long as she’s been a full fledged crow) and so this does not matter to her

I've been reading and watching some reviews of Oppenheimer and am shocked at the way some people don't seem to be able to connect to characters who are a little bit closed off and inwardly complicated.

This is a film you need to bring your own empathy to. It isn't actively provoked and drawn out of you.

Which, given that it deals with the construction of the Atomic Bomb, I think is something that should be self explanatory. If you go into making this thinking "Oh I will make people feel so bad about the bombs" you're already headed in the wrong direction. It's not the question whether or not it's bad. The question is whether or not you realize it's bad when no one tells you outright how to think about it.

This movie is incredible for doing this.

Hi, if you're a millionaire (or more) I think you ethically owe it to society to show up at community sporting activities in full kit but be absolutely mid-at-best in everything.

Show up to the pick-up game in FULL (I mean full) Ronaldo/Messi/Jordan/LeBron/Mahomes/Ovechkin/whoever kit, top of the line everything, and be absolute trash. Or ride Tour de France level gear down the local bike path really poorly and get mad when the amateurs and hobbyists pass you. Float your yachted kayak down the river in peak gear but never catch a single fish... Try to lie about it.

Anyone can be goated at something and show up in an old man disguise, I want the old man to show up in the goated disguise and be a disappointment. This is what you can do for society. I mean, pay to fix nets, salt the winter trails, put up night play lights, fund a community garden, whatever, yeah, that's all great, get an article about it, but there is nothing more community bonding and personally satisfying than feeling your hard work and training outplay the money.
