summary: when taking a shortcut leads to taking your clothes off in front of sebastian sallow

finding those blasted demiguise statues had to be your least favorite assignment yet. your groundskeeper (who was an alcoholic, by the way) had somehow gotten you to agree to do his personal bidding in exchange for learning how to use alohomora. it had to be some kind of violation, but looking for harmless little statues was much easier than exploring any catacomb or solving any trial of puzzles, so you didn't complain.

on the other hand, it required a lot of walking, and a lot of aimless searching. on this particular search brigade, however, you'd received a tip from a fellow student that lived in north ford bog that a strange glowing artifact was hidden in an abandoned cottage just outside the hamlet. sebastian decided he would come along for the adventure, mostly hoping to find something worth value in the house and to annoy you along the way.

"i think i see a shortcut just there..." you stretched your neck out to see further down the faded and forgotten bath to your right, just hardly noticeable.

"it's not on the map?" sebastian inquired, peering over your shoulder to get a look at the map in your field guide.

"no...let's see what's this way." without waiting for a response, you pushed the heavy brush to the side to allow yourself to be swallowed by the leaves.

"don't just--y/n! wait for me." he followed behind you, trying to dodge the rough branches threatening to whack him in the eye. you ignored him until you reached a clearing, not wanting to linger in the prickliness. you emerged to see a breathtaking view. you had found yourself on a cliff's edge above the quaint lake in the center of the hamlet. the evening moon reflected on the calming ripples in the water, lighting up the clearing with a haunting blueish glow.

sebastian soon emerged from the brush as well, sputtering a leaf out of his mouth. you didn’t notice, still captivated by the view. he straightened himself and his robes and finally joined you near the edge of the cliff.

“it’s beautiful, isnt it?” he turned to gaze at you, your eyes practically sparkling from reflection in the water. he couldn’t help but notice how your plush lips glistened from your homemade dittany lip oil. he smiled as it reminded him of how much he adored your femininity. you could utterly destroy grown men and women with your powerful incantations in one minute, and the next you would be fixing your hair and blotting your nose. you were badass and graceful about it at the same time. it could make sebastian weak in the knees sometimes.

“hm?” you quirked your head to the side at his distant gaze. he seemed to be looking through you with a gentle smile lingering on his lips. he blinked his thoughts away quickly.

“yeah, incredible…” he took his first look out across the water, breathing in the gentle breeze. “hey, i dare you to jump in.” he challenged with a sly smirk. your first instinct was to immediately refuse, thinking about how cold the water would be and how it would soak your best school uniform. but, upon giving yourself a second to ponder it…

“sure.” you shrugged, agreeing in a casual tone. the smile instantly vanished from the boy’s face.

“what? no, i don’t think you should actually—“

“you’re jumping with me, though.” his throat nearly closed up at the sight of your hands reaching up to unclasp the first button on your vest. he was stammering to find the right words as your vest fell to the forest floor.

“i actually don’t know how deep that lake is—“ you stepped forward to peer over the edge of the landing, inspecting the water. you turned back to him and shrugged once more.

“looks deep enough to me.” you smiled reassuringly at him, but it made him even more nervous. you placed a hand on his shoulder for support as you removed your kitten heels. he felt like his entire body was buzzing.

“okay, but you have to think about the rocks too—“

“sebastian. you know me well enough to know that i never back from a dare. i thought you were too, but it’s okay if you’re afraid.” he realized what you were doing immediately and it was proven by the smug smile on your face. you didn’t avert your eyes from his as you slipped your blouse off of your shoulders, leaving your upper half exposed to the moonlight. sebastian looked like he could explode.

any expression of annoyance or concern left his face as he watched you. he couldn’t find any wordsto say, he just stood frozen before you with an appreciative stare.

“okay, well i’m jumping. it sounds like a rush. bring my robes down for me will you?” he just nodded, holding a stack of your clothes in his arms as you stood before him in only a corset top and an aggravatingly short slip skirt. he was almost salivating at the sight. didn’t shift his gaze as you took a deep breath, centering yourself before sparking at the edge and leaping off with a graceful dive.

sebastian seemed to have come out of his trace as you left his view, blinking his sinful thoughts away. he frantically started on his own clothes, realizing the opportunity in front of him.

down below, your body had broken the waters surface with a grand splash, sending you deep down to the bottom on the lake. however cold you thought the water was, it was ten times worse. but as you emerged again, the wave of shock sent across your skin from such a drastic change slowly subsided. you dipped your head back, allowing your now saturated hair to lay flat behind your face. you rubbed your eyes, still getting your bearings before a loud splash erupted just next to you. you were drenched once again and certainly surprised to see sebastian’s head popping out of the water in front of you.

“i thought i finally found your weakness for a moment, sallow,” you teased him as he wiped the water droplets off of his own face.

“you’ll never know.” his confident smirk returned. it made you notice how prominent his muscular shoulders were just below.

“yeah? why’s that?” your words were innocent but your tone was entirely contradictory.

“you’ll just never guess what it is.” his voice reciprocated the same flirtatious influence, which you took as an invitation to swim closer to him.

“no?” your voice was quiet now, just a few inches away from him. he shook his head.

“are you sure?” your hand slithered up his arm to grasp his strong shoulder. “cause i think i might have an idea.”

it was silent between the two of you as he searched for any reluctance in your eyes and his own mind for a way to top your antics with a bolder gesture. you felt something ignite in your stomach as you saw what he wanted to do in his eyes. before you could react, his hand tangled in your hair at the nape of your neck, pulling you into a passionate, burning kiss. it was like all of the pent-up desire was released between you two at the same time.

from that day forward, sebastian was your favorite exploring partner. partially because he knew the area like the back of his hand, but mostly because you never wanted mischief like this to end.

Usually its one of the kings to do it and even then its in an antagonistic context. The dragon is more open than the demons because he isnt burdened by the primal need to Look Away. As a human you fight against your nature to hold his gaze. Defying your god-given instincts just so you can look him in the eyes when you say "hello"

DEMYA

Demya didn't spend an exactly normal childhood, firstly due to the type of environment in which she was born as a demon, part of a bloodthirsty tribe, and secondly due to the events that characterized her turbulent past, that is, having seen her family die in front of the her eyes and then being imprisoned in a human circus as a freak, chained and malnourished, only later when she was freed was she able to begin her journey of recovery. Demya might seem brash and prone to violence, in some respects she is, however she softens towards children and with child MC in particular she would be very protective, especially considering what they had to go through. Demya would not tolerate abuse towards child MC and would ask them to give her all the names of those who bullied them on Earth, not to kill them, not wanting to get child MC into trouble and considering that most likely the bullies are children as well, but simply to scar them for life and thus prevent them from finding other victims, the sight of her bloodied on the ceiling should be enough. Demya would also feel sorry for child MC being miserable most of the time and would try in her own way to make them happier, to make them overcome their trauma, because together they are stronger, Demya would always welcome child MC into her arms in case of need of comfort and they could stay in her nest (of blankets and pillows) for as long as they need to

DOMNRA/MOBIM

Domnra had a fairly normal childhood, according to celestial standards at least, given that as a soldier, he was trained to fight from a young age. The most difficult period of Domnra's life began after his fall from the Celestial Realm and after Mobim's birth, it took him time to metabolize and get used to the new situation. Child MC would remind Domnra of Mobim during its first days of existence: small, weak, helpless and afraid. Having matured over time and having learned to take care of Mobim, Domnra would try to help child MC learn how to defend themselves, both physically and emotionally, from bullies or fears, because they would have the full right to assert their own person. Domnra would become like child MC's shadow, always at their side in case of danger, as a figure to hide behind or as a shoulder to cry on, anyone who mistreats child MC should pass through Domnra first if they have the courage. Mobim would also help make child MC feel less sad, becoming their friend, playmate and comforting them, without the need for words and showing child MC that crying is good for letting off steam

AZUL

Azul was a happy and energetic child, who enjoyed running among flowers along with colorful butterflies, without a care in the world, his mood management problems began in adulthood, after his fall from the Celestial Realm. Azul is a very empathetic demon when it comes to feelings, especially those of people he cares about, so when he would sense child MC's sadness, his colors would change from light blue to dark blue in a sense of recognition and Azul would carry child MC in his arms, to comfort and console them. Azul would be worryingly quiet at the news of child MC being a victim of bullying and it's likely that one day, in the form of a spirit, he will enter the bullies' bedroom and scare them so much that they will never repeat such actions again. Azul would try to help and support child MC to find a way to express themselves, such as drawing or photography and as he is better trained in managing emotions, he would try to help child MC overcome their depression, one step at a time, always by their side, showing pride at every small milestone achieved

ZURI

Since she was a child, Zuri has always followed a rather rigid discipline and had to meet very high expectations from other angels towards her, therefore she didn't spend much time playing or having fun as perhaps it would have been more appropriate for a young angel, too busy excel and show herself as a symbol of purity. Old habits die hard, so even after she became a demon, Zuri remained a perfectionist, however she would never want something like that for child MC, after the way they have already suffered. With Zuri, there would be no expectations of happiness and joy to respect, but rather a probable professional therapeutic path, for child MC's sake, to provide them with the tools to process their trauma and work on their depression. Zuri would probably explain to child MC that the bullies who bothered them have likely been through difficult situations, however that doesn't excuse their actions and child MC would not be required to forgive them, but rather to move on with their life and heal. Anyone who has any comments to make about child MC's behavior should respond personally to Zuri and while not often very loving, Zuri would cradle child MC in her arms during depression or ptsd episodes

ODON

Odon had a bizarre childhood due to their ancient eldritch nature, they don't know what it means to have a family and as a child they did anything to feel a single emotion, even if it meant committing genocide. Over time Odon got "bored", because suffering became repetitive and they realized that showing kindness received much more interesting and varied reactions, that was the reason for the beginning of Odon's change for the better, however difficulties weren't lacking, since everyone was too afraid of them. Odon knows what it means to be marginalized and isolated, they also know sadness although they don't show it, therefore Odon would be very understanding and patient with child MC's issues, accompanying them step by step during their growth. No sane person would be stupid enough to bully child MC given Odon's reputation, so they would stop being teased, while as for the rest, Odon would read stories with child MC on their lap while they drink a hot beverage, to make them feel protected and safe for once, with even the eye-like creatures in tow as silent guardians. Odon would go back to being the monster they were in order to ward off the evil that afflicts child MC, after all, how could pain approach child MC, in Odon's even scarier presence?

REMIEL

Remiel had a lonely childhood and not exactly by choice. As a half angel-half nephilim, many angels, the most conservative ones, have always seen Remiel as a sin, an impure angel not worthy of being called such and having always been very literal-minded, despite the reassurances from her mother Azrael and her father Death, Remiel could never help but see such statements as the truth, because after all they weren't entirely wrong, she wasn't a pure celestial being, she have learned to live with it, however Remiel would see child MC's situation as unfair, being different. Since both child MC and Remiel are often gloomy and somber, they could actually be mistaken for related. As an angel of death, Remiel would frequently face issues such as depression and negative feelings, therefore she would be quite capable of making child MC feel better, having comforted several human souls in the past. One thing that child MC would appreciate before going to sleep would be, for example, having Remiel embrace them with her wings while softly humming them a lullaby that her mother Azrael used to sing to her when she was a child

NATHANIEL

Nathaniel, although he has always been a quiet angel even as a child, who let himself be carried away by the course of events, has always felt as if he was not in control of his actions, as if his destiny was in the hands of someone superior who controlled his every move and emotional response. As an extremely patient angel, caring for and managing a child MC with depression or ptsd would not necessarily be a problem, if anything a challenge, which Nathaniel would not intend to give up or abandon for any reason. Nathaniel would try to teach child MC how to let non-constructive criticism and insults slide over them, using failures as material to grow and improve, killing with kindness when possible those who show resentment towards them for no reason. Nathaniel is chill, but when annoyed he would be quite scary, so people would hardly bother child MC in his presence, also Nathaniel would show child MC the wonders of the world, trying to rekindle the spark of life in them. Nathaniel would always be child MC's guide

URIEL

Uriel's childhood was characterized by continuous attempts on her part to show her worth of becoming a warrior angel and by seeking compliments to feel valid, no matter how many times she fell and felt inadequate, she always got up in order to reach her goals and Uriel would like to help child MC achieve their dream whatever it may be, however she's aware that first they should be motivated enough and that currently it would be too soon. Uriel would see child MC being a victim of bullying as a real violation of justice and as an angel who represents it, she would go straight to the bullies, making them regret and reconsider every choice in their life and she would force them to apologize to child MC personally, with the threat of them going to hell if they act bad again or even worse, even if they ended up in heaven, then they would have to deal with Uriel. Uriel would act as child MC's shield and sword, promising that when they're unable to fight, she will protect them, for as long as they need, that she'll be the rock on which they can lean when they don't feel well

Hi hi! I just had a random thought but wouldnt it be kinda cool if mc had a magikarp? Like they’re the “weakest pokemon” but evolve into an incredibly strong pokemon, idk i think it might be a lil poetic? Obviously being seen as weak as a parallel to mc but showing that change helps you be a version of yourself that you never thought you could be? As far as i can see it, magikarp is the most important pokemon, the most meaningful one, because it shows how change is an amazing thing, and maybe its not as important as people make it out to be. ANYWAY SO if you have not yet read side B you are in for a ride ....some of the things he says about himself will have u screaming crying throwing up fr (spoilers i guess but one thing he straight up says is that he's (or rather, his existence is) a nuisance . so thats great <3) he made me audibly gasp in horror.......it probably hits different too because throughout the story he has kept his cool and insists that things don't bother him so when the dam breaks...ohhh...💀💀

(Also speaking of his voice I went back and replayed that chapter where he's in the theater dressed as a crab and you can kinda see that in his voice again😭 and also his usual coping mechanism happens when the mc suggests they wait a while longer for more ppl to show up and he just jokes that his butt hurts from sitting, but his laugh was really weak like he was completely trying to play it off😭 He also somewhat drops the usual raspiness in his voice when he starts to ramble right before the movie but it's not because he's sad but because he's genuinely excited to talk which makes me so 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺)

BUT SAME THOUGH . HIS NOVEL MADE ME FROWN SO HARD.....he downplays a lot of his own emotions in favor of other people's feelings and he doesn't express his own anger....I'm so glad the ppl in HAMA House are there to support him😭 I hope one day he learns he can be more vulnerable with them because they all care for him and would never abandon him😭😭)

as for the Akushio thread!! I have to agree that their appearances do betray how you'd expect them to be, as with a lot of day2 tbh !! Like a lot of their 1st impressions don't line up with how they actually are/think (i would talk abt it but if I did we'd be here all day so that's for another time💀)

I can't say for sure but I feel like u might be onto smth abt Akuta twisting a lot of stuff ppl say into compliments. Like as long as it's not straight up an insult, he can appreciate that ppl r taking time to talk to him I think

hi, two anons!! im glad you guys liked my nxx team polycule stuff!! i'll answer these in one go, my "headcanon" (in quotes because i think this kinda turned into a character analysis/minific of sorts HAHA) being what first anon asked, How They Get Together.

heads up, wc of this is 1.9k words long so buckle up for a bit of a read jfsjdfkjbf

because first anon, youre right!!! the boys are stupendously complicated which i love so so much but canon has also shown us clearly that each of the boys' quirks and habits and tendencies causes a lot of (mostly played for laughs) friction. the bickering, the backhanded insults, the "im the best one here" preening contests. theyre all SOOOO RIDICULOUS and it is hilarious but yep! the boys r complex!! and that means this beautiful ship, imo, has a lot of phases to get to the actual romantic relationship bit.

how they get together, in my opinion, starts because of mc.

not in the sense that she matchmakes them all, but like.

phase 1 of the nxx team polycule is this:

through being in love with her (which we all know the boys 100% are), each of the boys come to terms with their own flaws and weaknesses. it's very apparent to me in all the story thus far that these boys are flawed as hell, it's very compelling but even more compelling to me is how all of them also do intense mental gymnastics to Not Confront Those Flaws. like, marius is a dickbag always teasing and toeing the line of insincerity, vyn is a controlling mf who always tries to sway situations to his benefit, artem is so repressed to the point that he has genuine trouble with emotions, luke is a self sacrificial bastard and also a huge hypocrite about how no, actually, hes the only one that should be hiding his pain and being dishonest, no dishonesty from other people!! in the beginning of the story, all the boys have their flaws and seem to have just kinda...not addressed how those flaws are harming them and the people around them.

and then mc rolls around and they all fall in love with her. and she sees those flaws and she doesnt let them slide. she challenges the boys in her own ways to see another side of the situation, to acknowledge what theyre doing. she doesnt want to get rid of flaws, thats impossible and also not cool. she just has this beautiful hope for like, all of humanity, that goodness can prevail with the right work. so when she sees her beloved nxx boys, she believes that for them as well.

which leads to phase 2 of the nxx team polycule:

the boys, more aware of themselves, become more aware of each other.

they werent Unaware of the others of course. it's just that they didnt like...truly connect on a personal level just yet. they saw the other teammembers with their emotional armor and flaws and saw a wall that wasnt worth looking past.

but after mc makes them realize that hey, flaws arent the end of the world actually, it's alright and the person behind them may just be worth it, the boys like. end up understanding the others. A LOT OF THIS BIT IS UNINTENTIONAL, ON THEIR PARTS KJDSBFS. like they stumble into understanding each other by accident, they didnt plan it, but over the course of nxx investigations, it's inevitable that they end up seeing the depths of the others. i delve into this a little bit in my fanfic "filler eps of the lost gold" where the boys are just going thru their actions and then trip over another boy's fears or desires and through that, gain a deeper understanding mutually.

and with understanding, sometimes, comes trust.

phase 3 of the nxx team polycule goes like this:

everybody in this team, whether they like it or not, whether they know it or not, has a heart that wants to give love so desperately.

marius lives in a world full of snakes so he cant have his heart on his sleeve for his own protection. vyn wants to be seen as perfect and the heart is inherently messy so he holds it back. artem for a very very long time was focused on work and success and achievement that he neglected his heart. and luke has been giving love all his life in a sense but in a way thats hidden.

all these tendencies that are brought upon their life circumstances results in this: they want to love honestly but they havent been able to do this

until mc. and all of them want to push back whatever fears or patterns their life has instilled in them because they see her and see somebody so unwaveringly good that all their hearts begin giving love to her to make her happy and to make themselves happy as well.

but heres the thing. the boys dont just see mc. by this point, they have connected and understood and come to trust each other as well, and the consequence of that is that They Can See Each Other Now Too, Truly.

and heres the thing. all of the boys are unwaveringly good as well.

one by one, each of the boys realize that what they feel for the other boys in the team starts to...change. yeah theyre all friends, they pick on each other a lot of the time, but the bedrock of the relationship is solid and strong now. but when marius is with luke, marius sees a light inside of luke so bright that he seems unaware that he gives off. when artem is with vyn, artem sees a goodness inside of vyn that hesitates to make itself obvious and known because vyn is scared of getting hurt thanks to it. all of them see the other and their goodness and, unbidden, their hearts want to give love to each other as well.

and because theyre all a bit stupid in their own way theyre like, huh, weird! wonder why this feeling is so familiar! and yet i cant seem to name it...and then they all independently compare these feeling with the feelings they have for mc, a feeling they do know the name of, and theyre like.

WAIT.

THESE FEELINGS ARE...VERY BASICALLY EXACTLY WHAT I FEEL FOR MC.

which only means one thing: theyve fallen in love with everybody else

marius: //goes to his studio to Think and sees that a bunch of his recent art actually had little crumbs of these feelings already, etched into the brushstrokes and scenes. has an emotional crisis about it

vyn: //records a 1 hour long entry in his audio diary to examine and gain control of his feelings but by the end of the hour all he knows is that he wants to hold these people and be held by them

artem: //quite literally just bluescreens, artem.exe has stopped working, sits at his study and slowly, slowly, thunks his head down onto his desk, valiantly trying to ignore the fast pulse of his heart

luke: //manically vents about it to peanut who, by virtue of being a bird, doesnt get it. just keeps talking at peanut to get a grasp of it all and then lies down on the floor, overwhelmed

mc, sitting in her apartment watching some netflix: ...why do i inexplicably feel as if something very, very important has just happened?

phase 4 of the nxx team polycule is basically:

pining: extreme difficulty level

because pining is already hard when ur pining for one person. what more for an additional 3 more people. and those additional 3 more people are pining back.

and all these boys are SOOOO OBVIOUS with their romantic feelings, in their own special way. the way they show their affection to mc starts to bleed into their interactions with the others and everybody can CLEARLY SEE WHAT IS GOING ON, LOL, but also all the boys are too chickenshit to confront it, because if they confront it, what will even happen??? being in love with each other, all of them, thats going to be such a complicated fucking relationship, holy shit. it's 2030, yeah, being a polyamorous group relationship isnt completely unheard of, but sue them, theyre scared.

but mc (who i forgot to mention already knows of the boys' romantic feelings for her, shes just hasnt made a move yet on any of them because SHES IN LOVE WITH ALL OF THEM AS WELL and shes been trying to figure out how the hell to make that work, she cant bear to choose just one of them, she'd be heartbroken over leaving the rest of them behind) sees that the nxx investigation team is now all pining for each other FULLY and she kinda wants to laugh when she realizes whats going on because like, what are the chances? that this would happen? that they all found each other and their feelings fell into just the right place for nobody to be left behind?

theyre all scared, she can tell. and she is as well, she wont lie.

but shes always had a belief that goodness can prevail with the right work.

and love is one of the greatest goods out there.

phase 5 of the nxx team polycule:

It's Time For Communication, Baby!!!!!

the exact scenes of how this happens is a bit vague to me. it could go two ways: mc going to each of the boys independently to talk about feelings, hers about everybodys and his about everybodys as well. OR they have a fucking meeting about it all together and artem literally schedules it in his google calendar, or something.

either way, they like, actually talk about this. starts casual, maybe over a chill date, maybe over dinner at a nice restaurant, maybe over a walk in the park as the sun is starting to set. but where ever it happens, the end result is the same: a heart is laid out bare and it is taken in gentle, grateful hands.

theyll see each other smile and feel like their love shining so brightly. theyll reach out for another's hand and be held in such a way that makes them think that their heart is in a safe place. theyll love each other and theyll put in the work to continue loving each other. because goodness will prevail.

and they all see each other as the most good people in the world.

so whatever happens, theyll get through it together.

The next week you come into the living room with a large journal.

"This," you tell him. "Is every true account of what happened to me in there."

He stares at you for a minute and then nods. It's not a promise but you take it. He reads every page. Every heartbreaking day every scream, fight, touch. If he is around while reading it, he holds you close having to touch you in some way just so he knows you're there with him. You're out.

If he isnt he tries to hold himself back from calling Luciel and finding information on them.

He starts to dream of you in those situations back then and finds himself holding you closer.

It's only in the back of the book does he find another story.

Your story with him and he likes this one so much better. It has no ending yet and he Hope's that it wont for a very long time.

When he's finished he leaves the journal on the bed and finds you on the balcony.

You smile warmly when you see him and he pulls you into him with a bone crushing hug.

"Why did you write us in the back of the journal?" Jumin asks later that night.

First impression: To be honest, when I first-first saw him, in ch 1, I didn't really notice him. I mean I knew there was "that blue glasses guy who like to make fun" but I immediately forgot about him. For some reason, to my brain, Berdly first appeared in chapter 2 on rollercoasters.. I just thought he was gonna be a background character, but i was wrong. ( tbh at this point, I will not be surprised if all the classroom kids turn out to be major in future chapters)

Impression now: "Wow, Toby is so good at making loveable characters that even when he deliberately attempts to make an "unlikable" one, he fails at it" my thought. That means, I liked him a lot and he feels to me like a very fitting addition to the main gang. I hope he becomes a part of MCs, or at least becomes a recurring character

Favorite moment: When he told his story, with backgroud music "A blue bird of misfortune" with silhouette visuals, it was very nice. I understand his story was not something super mindblowing, I just liked that moment, and it was nice to see him accepting the part of himself he denied the entire time.

Idea for a story: I dont have any ideas about him.. but I thought about something connected with Rouxls

Unpopular opinion: Berdly is actually very loyal and caring and he geniunely cares about Noelle, not just because she helps him. perhaps he doesnt know he cares or isnt self-aware of his feelings. When he sensed Noelle was in danger, he dropped the act and fought 100 % seriously. What I meant to say was, Berdly cares a whole lot he just struggles with showing it properly. (tbh im not sure its an "unpopular" opinion)

Favorite relationship: Berdly and Noelle (platonic). I am weak for platonic friendships. And its such a nice touch that they represent platonic boy x girl dynamic. And in one of routes, Berdly really showed his true colors (a friend who looks out for the other) and threw his delusions of grandeur out of the window for her without any hesitation. Also.. the fandom's kris x berdly content is slowly converting me into a krisley shipper;

Favorite headcanon: Berdly and Kris are old gamng rivals, and apparently Kris is better than Berdly? That's genius, I like this hc its very funny and adds more flavor to Kris' character

What I Liked

i love the atmosphere of liu yao, the story rly was at its best when its contemplating the nature of the dao, the origin and goal of cultivation, human nature... and how painfully human the main chars are despite going down a path that makes them beyond human

cheng qian!!! tbh the way priest writes him as this unloved middle child w a v middle child syndrome, n how it gives rise to this... almost self-importance and in a way also makes him think he's better than everyone around him? and yet somehow it's endearing instead of annoying and also kind of relatable? he's rly quite a joy to read

yan zhengming... i love how he grew from a spoiled, whiny peacock brat to a... spoiled whiny peacock young man who takes his responsibilities seriously and is unwavering when it comes to his family. its a v interesting contrast how hes strangely easygoing compared to the mc in some ways, e.g. he doesn't hold grudges, how his dao is the way of the sword despite him being...super spoiled n whiny, but his true nature as a reliable, steadfast leader is revealed in moments of need...

i love this family of five /crying theyre so cute n warm!!! in their childhood!! n then shit goes down!!

that said i also like how each action has consequences, n no one rly has "plot armor", how the ending is mostly? happy? with shades of bittersweet?

the side plot of the past between tong ru n han muchun oh my god,,, the parallel in the ending,,, copying my tg texts: in the end tong ru, despite everything hes been through, was content to have disappeared along w han muchun n to him, dying without regrets is "ascension". in parallel w the epilogue where cheng qian n yan zhengming visited the grave n mentioned that its "better to say that they ascended" n also how yan zhengming is cheng qian's "unbreakable tether to this world of red dust" which is... kind of against the principle of the dao? bc the dao is nothingness n one should be able to let go of worldly desires. but then, whats the point of all that if theres nothing waiting for them on the other side, n isnt it better to live one's life to the fullest, being aware of and cherishing the things n people precious in this lifetime?

lowkey the romance didnt fully convince me lmao they had cute interactions n had chemistry but 1. ig im just, a little tired of the "shou seeking death" and "gong chasing after death-seeking shou" tropes, n also 2. the story early on works super well without romance while just focusing on the brotherhood aspects, it rly feels as if liu yao shouldve been a pure nonromance cultivation story… tbh its rly just missing, this little bit more spice… (edit 220323) crossing this out bc while i’m still not v convinced of how the romance started in the early game, the theme of “questioning ascension and the reason behind cultivation” and also “happiness in this lifetime” is v v tied to the romance in the plot, from tong ru n han muchun n now yan zhengming n cheng qian (the yuanxiao extra made me rethink this tbh, then i came to the conclusion that yeah, the romance does make sense even though it’s rly quite rough n not convincing early on) 

liu yao's best points are the more somber, quiet, thoughtful moments, and liu yao's weak points lie in the action... tbh most of the chaotic battle parts just...take me out of the story

Ok but can we briefly discuss dragon / dino mc? I miss her. Like we’ve seen you talk about how they mistake her to be a whelp when she isnt but bc she has some habits that liken her to one, the more she knew about it when she was big, the more some dragon-y mannerisms or habits come out most especially when she’s little. She’s surrounded with dragons so so of course she’ll pick them up but since she intentionally researched more about it while she was big, she just wanted all her dragon daddies purring. Like absolutely w e a k & w h i p p e d for her.

One of the things that made them weak was how she now knows!!! where the best parts are to scent in their dragon form. Human forms were easy to figure out but when they were in their dragon forms, it was always a bit harder…but when she knew each spot exactly, she’d seek those spots out in littlespace bc if “appas mine. wan’ others to know” aside from marking her daddies with scenting, she also gives them a part of her “hoard” OR she could also try learning the huffy thing they do when they’re frustrated sometimes & let some smoke out and babie tries real hard to replicate the expression her daddies do so they could feel the extent of her upset but it only makes babie look so adorable. AND MAYBE SHE ALSO LEARNS HOW TO PURR & CHIRP. Like the little chirps come out in excitement while the purrs come out when she’s satisfied and its similar enough to a dragon’s that they all just melt

AND MAYBE when its about sexual stuff, she indulges them with their temperature play. And maybe some shibari as well (especially those that could include suspension). Like when she tells them about these kinks that she is willing to explore with them… 🥵

Maybe she conditions them to seek out her “purrs” 😳 like they DoorDash her some food Randomly? She calls them to thank them, and lets out a little hum cause she knows their scales will prickle with pride when they hear it.

It would come out when she’s little so much!! Very loud and over the top chirps and purrs when her daddies hold her, or give her a paci. They put on her favorite movie? She’s chirping until they blush and cover their faces 🥺

She would also do it during sex.. like with trying suspension/shibari (I can totally see this and its hot as hell. Especially with them suspending her in the air with them…) purrs when they start to caress her, making them even more riled up and ready to knot her.

Scenting… I can’t even I love it so much. They do it to her so much that she learns where to do it. Picture her nuzzling her face to their neck when she’s little!! (where the scent glands are) and them letting out the loudest purrs 🥺 (plus some of them would blow smoke in the shape of a heart to really communicate how happy it makes them!)

I agree with Kishimoto never trying to use the girls. The hate they get is not fair. I used to defend Sakura back in the days because I hoped kishi would do her justice. When shippuden started I WAS SO HAPPY because I thought this was the start of something great for Sakura and the girls but NOOOOO. Every time, Sasuke showed kishi turned her brainless. If you compare Naruto's actions and Sakura's actions to sasuke, you'd see they're completely different. What's up with that weird fake love confession scene 😭? It makes her look like she was manipulating Naru. JEEZ.

Also he literally had badass Tenten and Temari with cool useful abilities and he didn't use them ?! TF ?! Thank god for modern authors who treat their characters with respect :)

The way I see it, Sakura's character development in shippuden was always one step forward, two steps back. She gets this really badass scene (like her fight with Sasori and those cool ass medical skills) but is then regressed back into a pining girl in love every time Sauce is on screen or Kishi just throws her in the background YET AGAIN.

I love Sakura's abilities actually. Her brute strength, intelligence, vast knowledge and skill as a medic nin. But what I dislike about her character is how kishi handled her feelings for Sasuke. Naruto and Sakura's obsession with Sasuke was so???? huh??? it was so damn toxic and i never once understood why both Nardo and Sak were so obsessed with him. They were a team for one year???? I mean its great that they care about him alot but Sauce's feelings were kinda valid. His freakin clan died. Id go batshit crazy against my own village too. BUT BESIDES THAT. Both Nart and Sakura's Sasuke obsession was so annoying. 80% of shippuden was literally Keeping up with the Uchihas or Naruto yelling SASUKEH. BUT what irks me so much is the fandom's double standards with both Naruto and Sakura. "Oh Sakura shouldve gotten over her Sasuke obsession" but then turn around and call Naruto's obsession cute and gush about how he's so in love with him!!

Hot take but the only reason why sasunaru is "the most developed ship with the most chemistry" is because theyre both male characters.

I guarantee you if Naruto was a girl and SHE would be the one to have this unhealthy obsession who was chasing around Sasuke, the fandom would shit on Naruto just as much. And if Sasuke were a girl, Sauce would be sidelined like the rest of the female cast and Naruto would have another male character to have a "brotherly bond" with, because thats the only bond Kishimoto is actually good at developing. Yey for male characters having all the screentime and cool assets <333

And about that confession scene, I get her intentions. I really do. I understand that she did that in order to bring him home and that she cares about him but honey, w-why?? Why lie to him about your feelings?? Supposed he DID believe her, then what? then what kishi???? huh??? Some of her fans point the blame on Sai or whatever but I personally dont see why that scene was at all necessary. Maybe to establish Naruto's feelings for her wasnt all that serious? or his maturity? idk man. That scene was such a clusterfuck.

In the end her development in The Last and in Boruto was immaculate. She had one of the best glow ups in the old gen and ironically enough, her character wasn't butchered in Boruto. She got badass scenes she was cheated from in shippuden. I also love how she's finally getting the spotlight she deserves. Unlike the other konoha 12 :,)))

Okay onto the next female character that Kishi completely wasted. My baby. My light. 🙈 AAAHHH HINATAA.

Let me just establish this real quick. Hinata's goal was to get stronger because of Naruto, her goal was never to be with Naruto. She wanted to become someone who is worthy enough to stand beside him, someone whom he can consider as an equal, as a partner. I personally dont have anything against their crushes but to the point of making their personalities revolve around these guys every time theyre onscreen is so fucking frustrating. And with the way he writes their dialogues is so.damn.cringey. Like that one scene in the war arc with Tsunade and Madara

If im being honest. Hinata's character is actually kinda well written. Not well executed. Dear God no. But with the way he set her story, her personality, her chracterization. She's honestly one of the best written female characters on the show. IMO. By Kishi's standards of writing women ofc. She's hands down one of the most complex characters. Her shy personality wasnt out of the blue, it wasnt a cutesy waifu trait. Her abusive upbringing made her that way. Her trauma turned her that way. So yeah, sue her if she looked up to Naruto as an inspiration when everyone else in her family treated her like dust. Shit on her for having Naruto's love light in her dark when her own damn father wouldnt even look her in the eye and her entire clan shunned her because she was "weak." She doesnt owe her family shit so idgaf what they do with the Hyuga clan. Neji and Hanabi aren't included btw

Im not gonna deny that her role in the show was only as the love interest but tbh for a love interest, Im glad her character wasnt so one dimensional. It just pains me SO MUCHHH how fucking wasted she is. Every time she's with Naruto, they always make her into a damsel in distress. They always feel the need to turn Naruto into the heroic prince. How cute.

Hnggggg dont get me started with her role in Boruto. She's as relevant as a damn houseplant in the manga. They made her into an invisible trophy wife and "the mc's mother" and we all KNOW what happens to the shounen mc's mother once mc is in need of character development :) Quit putting her in the background. Give us that scene where she won against Hanabi DESPITE being retired for years. Give us that scene where she trains Boruto. GIVE US ANY FIGHT SCENE OF HER WHERE HER POTENTIAL ISNT WASTED WTF?¿

Now if you say that Hinata didnt have development. YOURE INVALID. She came from an abusive household, the shyest girl in her class, her insecurities got in the way of her own confidence, had difficulty of standing up for herself now became a loving mother of two, has the guts to kick her husband out of the house(with whom she couldnt even keep eye contact with when she was a kid) became the strongest hyuga, most supportive wife and mother, and has given her kids the comforting childhood she never had as a kid.

She has one of the most beautiful stories in the show and if you think her personality is only Naruto-kun and big boobs, then im sorry that you cant appreciate such a heartwarming story.

And I agree, killing her would honestly make me feel more at ease than continue to see her suffer because of godawful misogynistic writers. But at least let her die in an epic fight. Please. PLEASEE. She got nerfed so bad, i feel a physical pain every time i think about it

Okay what else. I think Ino got pretty good development. Another wasted potential in shippuden but she's doing good for herself in Boruto. I dont know what Temari is up to. They basically made her into another classic angry mom who beats up her husband for comedy trope. Haha very funny and original! Im not sure with her career, im not that invested in the anime.

oh G O D Tenten. The dirtiest of all. Her jokes about her screentime is so mean and i hate that its true ahsjhs. She was the only female character in OG who's goal wanted to be as strong as Tsunade but what did Kishi do to her?? Sidelined. Forgotten. Irrelevant. Like every damn female on the show :D

Konan shouldnt have died. I blame plot armor. I know in my heart that Konan wouldve kicked Obito's ass if it weren't for Kishi's boomer mindset.

Tsunade had so much hype when she was introduced but died down in the war arc. Madara wiped the floor with the kages. Holy shit. Not only that, but yipee! Naruto is there to save the day AGAIN!!!!

AND UGHHHH If the female characters were given proper treatment then maybe MAYBE all the endgame couples wouldve made fucking sense????¿¿¿

I think that ends my rant. Im not sure how the female characters in Boruto are handled. Except maybe Sarada (she's pretty well executed in the manga imo). But arguably they are sooo much better handled in Boruto than how the old gen girls were. And thats because Kishi isnt anywhere near the new gen female cast. I cant formulate a solid opinion with the other new gen female cast since im not entirely invested in the anime. Not ashamed to admit that I only watch it for the sunshine moments and for Hinata :DD

yo!! i dont wanna make this too long but i really really enjoyed your mingyu miniseries my daisy and i really love the way you write mingyu and even the storyline in which he isnt this cocky mean 'im better than you and everyone who is less than me' guy and you didnt make mc to be this weak 'i cant do anything for myself i can barely look at powerful ceo in his eyes without crying' type as well as the parents not being horrible vile materialistic people who would not consider anyone who isnt of the same status and its such!! a huge refreshing change of pace that i genuinely enjoy and wish people would make more often so thanks for that! also i think i fell in love with gyuri in that short span of time, shes just so adorable and now i have this baby fever when i dont even like kids that much 😭 didnt want to make this too long but your series was so enjoyable and dont be surprised if you see me back in your notifications binging your other works LMAO
