Garage Sale

Well, when the Fentons decided to have a garage sale Danny didn't expect many to be interested. His parents were looking for a way to get money quickly to build more stuff, and he jokingly suggested they could sell some inventions, they took it seriously (Jazz made sure to remove all the lethal inventions, she tried with the ones that might be risky but then they wouldn't sell anything).

Danny knew his parents were strange yes, but he wasn't sure that justified millionaires in his backyard. Millionaires, he'd like to clarify, had never set foot in Amity Park before. He raised an eyebrow at the sight of Bruce Wayne and his sons checking out the appliances. None of them seemed to be interested in the "ghosts" but they hadn't backed down from taking some things either.

So yes, Danny was suspicious. Of course he had made sure the inventions in the sale were safe (although unlike Jazz, he simply decided to make them safe, a few modifications here and there), but the fact that they looked genuinely interested made him uneasy.

Were the Waynes interested in hunting ghosts?

He decided to try something, he crossed eyes with one of them and let his green eyes show before looking away, the boy looked alarmed. He approached him and asked, but Danny feigned ignorance, commenting that all the inventions were green and maybe he had been confused by the reflection (to be fair, most of his parents' inventions were green because of the ecto).

For his part, Bruce had received an alert from Justice League Dark, it seemed they had detected a strange energy, similar to magic, so the bats set out to investigate. They didn't expect to find a garage sale in a house in the middle of nowhere (Amity Park wasn't even marked on the fucking map). Nor did they expect advanced technology or mad scientists.

Bruce decided to pretend he had stumbled into town as "Brucie Wayne" and buy a few things. He shuddered to see that many inventions worked with Lazarus water. Jason, who had strangely agreed to come along, was also upset about the son of the scientists.

Bruce questioned whether he had found a family of villains in the making.

Serious question: what do you consider to be an Itachi "fan"? Is an Itachi fan only an Itachi fan because they agree with you and stan him the way you approve of him? This isn't an attack though you no doubt will think of this to be an attack. Why is someone "not" an Itachi fan to you?

Nope.

An Itachi fan is someone who loves him for him, sees him as a person, as a separate entity, like he's meant to be seen (like they see other characters). Itachi fans are going to mostly agree with each other with slight disagreements here and there. And that's how I usually see fans to be around here.

However. There are some people, who I don't think like him for being him, because no way a fan can have those kind of opinions.

There's a particular blog that posts all Itachi manga panels, and nearly every single tag/comment is fraught with insults or hate towards him. It's easier to tell they are not a fan. Though they claim to "like" him, but it's for the role he plays in the story, but they have no sympathy for him. It's like, okay, he is used as a plot device in the story and, I'll use all the surface leven information to distort everything about him. But no, I like him enough to run a freaking blog about him.

I mean, for once, if you, anon, like a character's presence in a piece of media without sympathising with him, would you consider yourself to be a "fan" of that character? Or would you rather be more emotionally invested in them to consider yourself their fan?

It could be my own view, but I personally wouldn't say I'm a fan of a character I can't bother beyond that surface level information. I like many characters that way, and I know I'm not their fan.

There are many other "fans" who I consider are "pick mes", because reading their opinions makes me feel like they're trying to appease Itachi haters. It's not even being critical of Itachi's actions, but more like parroting what haters keep saying and agreeing with them without using their brains that, hey, what this hater is saying might be wrong. Because, again, how can you like Itachi, and then also agree with all the horrendous lies about him.

"Itachi showed no regrets for all he did" and "Itachi is so dumb he didn't even try to negotiate with the village" and "Itachi is so stupid he didn't know how Sasuke would react to his abuse" and "Itachi tortured Sasuke for half a million times" and my favorite: Itachi is a Nazi — you, as a fan, keep reading that, and don't want to question this and do some essential, basic math along with some critical thinking? Because all of these are lies and heavy accusations. Loving a character despite their flaws is different, but agreeing with lies is a whole other level of disrespect.

I don't want to claim who is and isn't a fan, but it makes me curious. How can fans have these opinions? And if I see something like that in someone's blog/posts, am I really going to enjoy talking to them about Itachi? A big no.

Then, of course, the last type that bothers me just as much. The ones who don't exactly care about Itachi, but they "like" him because they like Sasuke and Sasuke loves him, so that somehow makes liking Itachi essential. It's as if, you don't care about Itachi as a character, or his motivations, his feelings and his presence in the story, along with all he represented, but you're viewing him through your favorite character's eyes (he's like an afterthought). It doesn't mean you love Itachi, but you love Sasuke so much that you're accepting whatever and whoever he loves. If Sasuke didn't feel that way about Itachi, these fans wouldn't care for him either.

Now, this is coming from my personal experience, the things I've observed. I've had people gushing in my notes and DMs about Itachi, reading my fics, and basically, acting like they love him, but the moment I went to their blogs, because I felt guilty about not following them while they followed me, most of their posts tended to be, more or less, openly hostile and hateful towards Itachi.

It's why I limit my interaction with our fandom, and follow Naruto related blogs very, very selectively, because I love beautiful arts, fics, and meta that goes beyond "Itachi was so dumb/stupid" takes.

ok, for me, i like to explore joemarr's relationship from a romantic lens, because whether you truly believe that joe and ja'marr want to fuck each other, you can't deny that they have a special relationship. they mean a lot to each other. they've been together for the better part of a decade. their careers will forever be defined by each other.

it's very important to be reminded of reality though, and the reality is that homosexuality in the NFL (and throughout every major American sport tbh) is practically taboo. and you can't really get around that fact when you're discussing rpf.

(that being said, there are moments (cough cough jerseygate) where i'm like '... idk man, there is kind of only one way to interpret that')

so i guess i would say: realistically not, but who's stopping you from thinking your own thoughts?

if i did have to say what i think their relationship is... honestly joemarr does has some very 'dancing around each other and our own feelings' vibes to them. mostly because the whole 'we can read each other's mind' is so romantic on its face, but also a minefield for miscommunication because, bitch you cannot actually read each other's mind.

and also they're very... uhh. how do i phrase this. ok, it's different when it's ja'marr, that's obvious, just looking at the two of them. you will always see tee and joe hugging each other to celebrate (broncos game, signing day, afc championship, etc etc). meanwhile joe and ja'marr are always doing their pinky shake. and the pinky shake is very special to them, i get it, but it's just not as physically affectionate as joetee's celebrations. and i do think it says something, that joe and tee are comfortable seeking affection openly in public like that, while joe and ja'marr are not. they keep their relationship almost obsessively to themselves. i've talked a lot about their relationship and how the public (us) really don't know that much about them, but it bears mentioning again. their relationship, despite both being public figures, is private.

now, part of the beauty of rpf and specifically, the insanely small community here, is that none of that actually matters.

sfth fandom appreciation post (aka me yapping about my personal experiences with this fandom for an entire post)

I know I talk a lot about how great the sfth fandom is, but genuinely, y'all are some of the loveliest people i've met on the internet. Like, ever.

I've been on the internet for a good portion of my life, but I've always been scared to join new spaces and fandoms. Amongst the fandoms that I do join, most end up becoming toxic which just adds to the anxiety. This basically means that while I've been familiar with fandom culture for quite a while, there are very few fandoms that I'd say I'm actively a part of.

I'm gonna be honest, I was incredibly scared when I first joined the fandom a couple weeks ago because the community felt so tight-knit that it felt like I was intruding on a private gathering. Nonetheless, I tried stepping out of my comfort zone and all I can say is that it was so worth it. Y'all are so sweet and talented and some of the most welcoming people ever, and that really means a lot for someone like me who's entering a new fandom.

All of that is to say, being in the sfth fandom has eroded just a little bit of that fear of stepping out of my comfort zone. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you all :]
