pains me that there's simply not enough info on star wars in-universe entertainment and pop culture for my liking. i want to know what star wars version of the godfather looks like. i wanna know what kind of space fanfiction a pantoran teenager would read, the kind of space tiktok edits they would make. i want to know the star wars equivalent for whatever the hell that is happening with ben affleck and matt damon. i want to see a coruscant news outlet publish an article with a headline "M'ett Sp'Amon not wearing a wedding ring again during another visit to Beng Spifflek's house. which could mean nothing"

if i have to read one more published fantasy book that uses irl memes and online vernacular in its dialogue i’m taking away the toys until y’all can learn to respect yourselves. Not only does it break immersion in your world and detract from your characters having their own voices, it also makes you, the author, seem like a dim parrot incapable of neither original thought nor basic understanding of the passage of time

1) due to the timeline of publishing, any meme included will automatically be hopelessly dated by the time the story reaches readers and

2) it’s literally the same thing Ready Player One did. Hey look i’m pointing at a thing in pop culture. Did you get my reference? Did you get it? Let me list some more colors and shapes you recognize. Did you get it? And then Gideon Nav hit the dab or whatever. Hashtag Relatable!

It’s so painfully unfunny and uncompelling every time. We can do better. Apply some creativity to your own work

What/who made you come to simblr and what/who made you stay?

What made me come to simblr are royal simblrs. Their stories and all. And I'm a big fan of @sosa-royals. The first story I actively read and I love Simon because of the complexity of the feelings I had for that character and also... drama.

What made me want to become a simblr is just the need to save my screenshots somewhere. I could have just posted my stuff to tumblr and that's it, I wanted to do that at first. But after posting I figured I would try to be more organized.

And then I was mesmerized and inspired by @farfallasims, @anachrosims and @akitasimblr. Definitely different aesthetics in that mix, but I really liked the diversity in the sims community on tumblr and felt like I could try to find what I like sharing (and still have somewhere to keep my gameplay hehe), so I even more wanted to stay.

What made me stay is interacting with other simmers! I think I would still be around without it though, just not that active. @pleasanttaleswithkaityb is not only the first friend I made here, she's an inspiration to me and her storytelling definitely helped my own gameplay (not how I organize stuff though, I am not that organized). @ruthplaysthesims, @matchalovertrait and @miralure are the best people to hype you up and they have amazing stories. Also I love how they have distinct styles.

But in general, getting to know more people is so cool! And the more diverse stuff I read, the more I like it! (i also have to read all your Detective Solomon story but I tend to like... Have a tbr pile of simblrs now)

hey!! i wanted to say. i only recentlyish finished birth by sleep but seeing your art has been so monumental for me. firstly, vanven is such a cute and sweet ship, it's so. meaningful and wonderful. and secondly. it's so important to me that you draw them both as trans. like. ahhh. i can't put it into words but as a trans guy it just means the world to me that they're so visibly trans. thank you so much for sharing your art

I’m sure to no one’s surprise, it’s one of my favourite video games ever. it has this mix of charm and melancholy, from the story to the music, that appeals to me so much. and I’m SO HAPPY you like vanven and my art, THANK YOU SO MUCH 🥺🥺🥺❤❤❤ not only do trans works and trans interpretations mean the world to me, but knowing I’m not alone in these interpretations means even more, so it means SO MUCH to know you feel this way. thank you for telling me!!!!!!!!! 🥺❤ not only is representation important, but I think that so many characters just become more compelling when read as trans. it really does enhance the overall storytelling of a character’s narrative. You are so right! I didn't even think about that, (I think the walkies were a fun thing and gave us stuff like congratulations darling, so I loved that bit) but with them being gone this gives us Ryan being really scared and wanting to get out of there sooner. And yeah without a way to communicate with Shane other than standing right next to the doors so he can hear him, we get stuff like this.

I think they def hugged it out at some point after this investigation Ryan seemed really on edge and with the way they talk in the car about it, and mention this ep in the podcast after recording it I think it really did a number on him. Can't wait to see the rest of the eps if this is only the first one, and we have confirmed return of a sleepover I think it opens up to even more fun scenarios like that.

a month ago i said i would yell about misogyny and patriarchal themes in fanfiction and eventually i will but there are so many thoughts and feelings in my head that it will take me forever to type it down. But i will say this

Be critical of the things you read. i’m not saying you CANT read for enjoyment—you CAN and SHOULD read for fun. But i’m saying that sometimes you should take notice of the themes in writing and think “wow, i wonder why that’s written like that. Is this harmful or is this helpful?”

it’s a given that fanfiction is widely heteronormative because society and media blah blah blah We know all of this … but in my opinion i think it’s important to think about why women in hetero fics are portrayed the way they are sometimes. I think reader insert fics have gone a long way in being more inclusive and less harmful than they were years ago BUT. Do not let that stop you from recognizing themes in the works you read right now

like; Why are misogyny-affected people written a certain way?? Why are there often degrading themes in a lot of tropes and fics regarding women?? Why are there certain roles that misogyny affected people are expected to fulfill even in fiction?? why are women often the “default” for fics with male characters?? think about any of these questions for like longer than two minutes, read a bad fic, and you will probably see where i’m coming from

You don’t need to publish this but I HIGHLY recommend watching Dead Boy Detectives. I haven’t loved a show this much in years and I think you’d enjoy it a lot.

I have been recommended it before and it is on the list! I am obviously a fan of the Neil Gaiman Cinematic Universe and the Sandman verse, stupid queers, supernatural shenanigans, etc. I just am still in the Stars Not Aligned, Can't Do It Yet, Must Wait For Opportune Moment phase, and once that passes and The Time Is Right, I will start it. In the meantime, I am re-re-rewatching What We Do in the Shadows and keep reminding myself to catch up on Interview with the Vampire, so yes, trash supernatural gays are currently the vibe and we will get there eventually.
