@whitedragonwolf4961 in response to the two asks you send me:
1. I don’t think that how the books turn out is going to change anything with Jonsa shippers/Sansa fans in the same way that having pictures from space and scientific proof of the earth being round does not change the opinions of flat earthers. We have 5 books now. Do you think the absurd metas and rewriting of the story and characters we get from these stans have anything to do with those books?
These are the fools who came up with ‘political!Jon’ because they are cinematography experts who analyzed the light coming through a window on the boat when Jon and Dany were talking!!
These are the fools who continue using the TV show and especially show Sansa’s arc on the TV to speculate on her book story despite GRRM repeatedly disavowing that plot specifically in all his interviews and saying that the show and the books are two different and separate canon.
They don’t care!! Even if in TWoW we get Jon and Arya reuniting and there’s lots of mussing of hair and tears and love, they will just replace Arya with Sansa in their essays and talk about how it’s foreshadowing for Jonsa happening in A Dream of Spring.
Even if we get more hints of Jon and Dany being aligned in thought and purpose and of a future alliance between them in TWoW, they will still continue with how Jon is going to murder Dany for his true love Sansa in the last book because the colour red popped up in some corner of his room.
And if Arya becomes the Lady of Winterfell instead of Sansa? I expect lots of essays from bnfs and feminism experts about GRRM being sexist and what not. 100 % sure of this. After all they have been banging on and on about Sansa being the ‘embodiment of hope for the future’, the best politician on the planet, ‘Sansa Smart’, expert on food and diplomacy unlike political noob Jon Snow and violent killer Arya. How to deal with it? Oh no, we did not realize that GRRM is a woman hater who didn’t grasp the awesomeness of a character like Sansa.
2. Regarding Kit Harington and Jon Snow. I tend to not blame the actors for characters they play on TV shows tbh. I put the blame on ultimate hacks, Benioff and Weiss for failing upwards as rich, white men and turning in an horrendous script, full of one-dimensional characters, no plot, no themes and dripping with their sexism, toxic masculinity and femininity. There was really not much Harington could do when the script gave him literally nothing! Book Jon Snow is a rich, complex character with several layers of plot and story telling piled on him over 42 POV chapters. All they gave show Jon Snow was fighting in battles.
I know Sophie Turner gets a lot of hate and she just comes across as the typical rich, white teen when giving interviews. She honestly sounds like the stereotypical Sansa stan on tumblr. And yet the blame lies on Benioff and Weiss for taking tips on writing Sansa/Arya from teenagers reading tumblr metas rather than actually adapting the book you know? Turner was only spouting off what these hacks were putting out there on their TV show. And from everything Emilia Clarke is saying about how she was being pressurized in terms of nudity and sex scenes, the behind the scenes of this show is clearly a very toxic mess.
I think Kit Harington is a decent actor - he does good in comedy and I liked his take on a sleazy character accused of rape in season 2 of Criminal UK. Jon Snow is a hard character to play given how much of his POV is internal and yet Benioff and Weiss did not even attempt to faithfully adapt the book version just like they did not with Arya Stark and instead reduced these characters to tropes.
I honestly can’t say if another actor would have been better in the role of Jon Snow given the material on the show for the character is so poor. Would it have made a difference if they had an Olivier award winner in the role? All this award winner would do is swing a sword around and play supporting prop to other characters.
Actors will also defend the characters they play. We love these characters so much as readers of these books. These actors have spend ten years of their life inhabiting these characters and love them just as much as we do. Of course Kit is going to defend show Jon Snow just like Emilia defends Daenerys and Dinklage defends Tyrion.
I am just going to reserve my ire for
- Benioff and Weiss who seem to not even like fantasy, did not care for themes, characters and the story of the books, did not hire a writer’s room, had only male writers/directors and were petty in firing actors (by killing off their characters) if they criticized the show and
- GRRM, who even after seeing the utter mess D&D have made of his story has failed to finish a book in 12 years including a pandemic where we were all shut up inside our homes for close to 18 months.
GRRM is the reason for why the only ending we will have for this story started almost 30 years ago is the garbage that is the TV show. I am not entirely happy with the adaptation of the Wheel of Time tv show and I can see the showrunner taking hints from D&D in terms of how and what gets adapted for viewership numbers. And yet I am not all that bothered by this because we will always have the books and the book characters. We know how the story ends for these characters. Sadly with ASoIaF we will never have that while GRRM is busy consulting on the umpteenth spin off.
So yeah, don’t really blame the actors. They are only playing characters on a TV show and that depended on the script they got.

If you don’t give a fuck, why are you on my post?
I’m exhausted by people claiming that the climactic political conflict in GoT is a “catfight.” I compared these three characters (in this post that I wrote over a year ago) because they were framed as the three figures in the War of the Three Queens, and because the show provided them very interesting (and not at all subtle) parallels in their lines about ruling, as I said in my post.
If you think the Three Queens can’t be compared in the same way the Five Kings were, then idk what to tell you.
And yep I wrote this over a year ago, so no, it doesn’t involve Bran’s ruling style lol
“Being a hero or a leader isn’t about having complete faith in yourself—it’s about believing in the people who have rallied behind you.” — Alwyn Hamilton
I saw this quote and couldn’t help but think of the three current queens in GoT, and how S7 contrasted the queens’ leadership strategies and priorities against each other. One way they were contrasted was through their relationship with, and belief in, their supporters.
Do you remember what Father used to say about people?
The lion does not concern himself with the opinions of the sheep.
Do you know what kept me standing, through all those years in exile? Faith. Not in any god, not in myths and legends. In myself. In Daenerys Targaryen. The world hadn’t seen a dragon in centuries, until my children were born. The Dothraki hadn’t crossed the sea, any sea. They did for me. I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms, and I will.
Sansa: I listened to their complaints, which is my responsibility as Lady of Winterfell.
Arya: Their opinions are important to you.
Sansa: Winterfell didn’t just fall into our hands. We took it back—and the Mormonts and the Hornwoods and the wildlings and the Vale. All of us, working together. Now, I’m sure cutting off heads is very satisfying, but that’s not the way you get people to work together.
Only Sansa shows that she believes in those who have rallied behind her. She listens to the opinions of her supporters, even when it’s difficult. Working together—not narcissistically disregarding supporters’ opinions or contributions to your cause—is the right way to rule.
#sry if i make someone throw up..??#idk sounds like a medical issue maybe get that checked out#im so done arguing over GoT lol#how do some of yall have the energy#honestly this is such a polite response from me when i could literally say sansa did end up being the only queen who cared about her people

idk if you already have one (if you do link pls), but could you do a meta on how dany and sansa compre as rulers?
Well shit, honestly I know my inner Sansa stan is going to come out here and it’s going to sound like I hate Dany. However the fact that I love Dany as a character doesn’t negate the fact that she was an absolutely terrible leader, and I feel like the fact that every time she was in a situation (typically one of her own making) that was too difficult to handle her reaction was to essentially toss up her hands and say “soz guys this isn’t working out, DEUCES” is pretty irrefutable proof that she was just an absolutely awful queen.
This might seem minor in the grand scheme of things, but one of the earliest learning experiences for both Sansa and Dany I think represents how they learn and behave towards everything going forward. For Sansa, the riot is a huge turning point for her. She’s already been abused and mistreated on a level she’s never experienced before, but she genuinely can’t understand why some men she’s never met before wanted to rape her and likely kill her. The lesson that she learns here seems to be that, regardless of the fact that in the moment Sansa is completely powerless, as a member of the ruling class she has more power over the common people than they will ever have over their own lives and that they’ll ever have over anyone else, and so when those rulers don’t have a good handle on ruling and if they’re ignorant of the experiences of those below them, then they will inevitably suffer and often times die. But it of course is extremely telling that Sansa’s reaction to Shae’s explanation is that she would have given them bread if they had it, and it’s an interesting contrast to Dany.
I think Dany’s kind of defining moment as a leader is with Mirri Maz Duur. Although these incidents aren’t really that similar on paper, the life lesson to be learned behind them is, but Dany and Sansa take entirely different things from it. Unlike Sansa in the riots, Dany is actually almost completely directly responsible for the suffering of Mirri Maz Duur. No, she wasn’t the one doing the raping, but the Lhazareen are being pillaged, killed, and sold into slavery to fund Dany’s conquering of Westeros. Mirri seems to do what she can to hurt Dany, and obviously Dany burns her alive in return. But Dany’s perception of herself, her righteousness, and her ability to do whatever she wants as queen seems to be cemented here. Mirri actually gives Dany a much more clear and understandable explanation of why she did what she did, but Dany’s internal reaction to it seems to be that the suffering of the Lhazareen were an unforeseen and unintended consequence, and that it’s only the fact that she didn’t intend for it to happen that matters. Instead of trying to understand what other people are going through or coming from, Dany essentially decides the opposite, that everyone should understand where she’s coming from and that she has good intentions, so anyone who acts out against her regardless of their reason is deserving of her wrath.
Another defining element of their leadership styles seems to be “I am the blood of the dragon” vs. “the lone wolf dies but the pack survives”. In a broader sense, the whole blood of the dragon obsession represents the absolutely insane level of Targaryen exceptionalism that the Targaryens believe, honestly Dany probably even more than the rest of them. The Targaryens literally think they’re gods among men, and the fact that Dany became the mother of dragons only cemented that idea in her mind. So then, she considers anything below godly exaltation to be blatant disrespect. Ironically, she hates ruling, but she wants everyone in the world to acknowledge her as their ruler because she sees literally everyone else as her inferior, and she cares much more about symbols like the title of queen or the Iron Throne than she does about anything else. Dany is willing to completely destabilize the world and to let anyone suffer so long as they call her queen while they do it, and she has shown time and again that anyone who doesn’t respect her position as ruler or acknowledge her claim to the throne will die. She’s completely injudicious when it comes to who she kills because literally all that matters is how they feel about her. FFS, “ending slavery” was a huge focal point of her storyline and she indiscriminately killed slavers who weren’t of use to her, but almost her entire army is made up of the Dothraki who were a key component of the slavery economy in Essos. In a weird way she has always demonstrated her “I know what is good” mentality in the sense that she literally just judges whether or not someone is good or bad based on whether or not they defer to her and call her queen.
And it would be disingenuous to say that Sansa doesn’t care about titles or rank, clearly that is something that has always been a priority to her and was especially when she was younger, however her perception of power and how it works is very interesting. She actually has an unfair advantage here because she has “role models” for kingship and queenship in people like Joffrey and Cersei. Especially with Joffrey, she obviously learned that being called king or queen says nothing about how much power you actually have, and having that title says nothing about whether or not people defer to you or whether or not you truly rule them. And more importantly, Sansa’s arc with Jon as the King in the North and even when Bran came home demonstrates that she understands what a necessity stability is, and that she’ll prioritize stability over her own superiority. Like Dany, Sansa actually has a pretty strong claim to the Northern throne, she could have very easily pressed that claim when Jon was named King in the North, and that claim is something she likely would have won. She also immediately tried to put Bran in the position of Lord of Winterfell even though in name that would have weakened her own political position, because she understands that destabilizing the North would be dangerous, would cause people to suffer, and because she truly understands that changing her title and having people call her something different would have zero effect on the actual power that she had within the country.
It’s kind of weird to say it, but Dany was almost at a disadvantage because she had no real experience learning how politics worked or how to rule or lead. Drogo was arguably the only real ruler she ever saw, but he didn’t really rule. Just like Dany ultimately wound up doing, he went to certain places, yielded whatever benefit he could find from it, and left. She never got to see why people like Joffrey and Cersei failed as leaders, or why people like Ned and Robb failed as leaders, and because she is the only person in the world with WMDs she’s never had to learn how to do anything through any other means besides overt force. And I mean, killing everyone who opposes you is certainly a way to gain power, but it’s clearly not effective leadership.
And on the other hand, Sansa has literally never been able to do anything alone. She’s always been a helpless girl who had to rely on the people around her, which has given her a lot of very good and clear life lessons on the fact that not only do rulers have to cooperate with others in order to succeed, but cooperating with the right people is as important as learning to work with others in general. Also a hugely important distinction here between her and Dany is that while Dany believes that the only moral choice for a leader is her and that anyone who chooses her as a leader is inherently moral, Sansa learns the opposite. She understands that a lot of the people who try to connect with her or earn her favor may be ill intentioned, and that it’s extremely important to distinguish between who is on her team for the right reasons or wrong ones. She also cannot bulldoze her way through problems so she has to actually solve them, and she understands that she can solve them much more effectively if she has other people around her to work with. If she needs food, she can’t just fly on a dragon somewhere and take it. If she needs men, she can’t just find a city and kill all of the leaders and tell everyone there that she’s their queen now. And that makes her job infinitely more difficult than Dany’s, but it also makes her position of power far stronger in the long run.
That’s not to say that Dany isn’t someone who has good ideas or good intentions, honestly when it comes to the status quo in Planetos it’s safe to say that it should be challenged, and although Sansa values stability over change that doesn’t necessarily mean that that’s the best course of action for a better world. But Dany’s problem when it comes to her big ideas is that she won’t put in the work to execute them properly. She doesn’t like the work of ruling and if we’re being real, she doesn’t have to put in the work because her dragons and her army the size of a city can do it for her or silence any dissent or opposition. And that is what makes her enormously dangerous. She looks at it as her right instead of her duty, and instead of ever trying to convince anyone of her competence she takes it as a personal insult if everyone she meets doesn’t immediately fall all over themselves to do her bidding. But of course why wouldn’t she, and why would a god ever have to prove themselves to mortals?
Sansa and Dany are meant to be foils for a lot of reasons, but one of the most intriguing to me is the fact that Sansa comes from a family of people who are just as super special as the Targaryens, but she’s not super special (I think it’s extremely likely that she is a warg, but when you compare her experience to that of Bran, Jon, or Arya, obviously she seems like the ordinary one in a family of superstars), and more importantly she was never raised with the idea that she was super special. Yes, she was an extremely highborn lady, but Ned Stark didn’t raise any of his children to believe that they were the chosen Kings of Winter who had ruled the North for thousands of years and done magical things that no ordinary human could ever dream of (and that difference always stands out to me so much, because frankly the Starks have even more reason to believe that they’re super special snowflakes than the Targaryens do, but they don’t), and that attitude obviously carries over into her leadership. She doesn’t look at being queen as her birthright because it quite literally is not, but she understands that it is first and foremost a duty and responsibility instead of an entitlement, and that shines through in the fact that she diligently does all of the scut work that the position requires.

There is something that both Ned and Jon share. The unworthiness of being the Lord of WF, have a wife and kids. In AGOT Ned thinks that WF, Cat... should have been Brandon's who was the firstborn and heir not him.
Yes, Ned had a big chip on his shoulder about that, enough for Cat to liken Brandon’s shadow to Jon’s mother’s, standing between them.
He is actually a big drama queen about it. (I am saying that with love.)
“Gods, Catelyn, Sansa is only eleven,” Ned said. “And Joffrey … Joffrey is …” She finished for him. “… crown prince, and heir to the Iron Throne. And I was only twelve when my father promised me to your brother Brandon.” That brought a bitter twist to Ned’s mouth. “Brandon. Yes. Brandon would know what to do. He always did. It was all meant for Brandon. You, Winterfell, everything. He was born to be a King’s Hand and a father to queens. I never asked for this cup to pass to me.” “Perhaps not,” Catelyn said, “but Brandon is dead, and the cup has passed, and you must drink from it, like it or not.” Ned turned away from her, back to the night. He stood staring out in the darkness, watching the moon and the stars perhaps, or perhaps the sentries on the wall. Catelyn softened then, to see his pain. Eddard Stark had married her in Brandon’s place, as custom decreed, but the shadow of his dead brother still lay between them, as did the other, the shadow of the woman he would not name, the woman who had borne him his bastard son. She was about to go to him when the knock came at the door, loud and unexpected.
(AGOT, Catelyn II)
I love this exchange. There’s Ned being about as Jon-level damatic as we have ever seen him, and Catelyn doesn’t necessarily rush to reassure him because this is a familiar tune and she just wants him to get a grip and focus. You know, like typical married couples.
But as he Stares Woefully(tm) she softens and the urge to comfort him rises up. Like typical married couples.
People focus a lot on Cat’s hurt feelings about Jon’s mom (and they are right to, Ned handled that entire business atrociously bad) but there is a well of insecurity in Ned about his not much older brother, even though he probably knew him about as well as he knew Lyanna, which is… they hadn’t seen each other in a while. Brandon was fostered in Barrowtown and Ned was fostered in the Vale. I imagine Robert actually reminded Ned of his wilder brother. They must have nevertheless been close, because Brandon understood his shy brother well enough to arrange a dance with Asharah at Harrenhal. (How close were Lyanna and Benjen, though? Very??)
Considering just how we, canonically, know Brandon is described (wolf’s blood, etc) and how he handled the situation with Lyanna (riding up the KL and essentially yelling at the monarch), Ned is so obviously irrational about this idea of Brandon being waaaay more suited for the Lordship or always knowing what to do. It’s likely rooted in survivor’s guilt, same as Jon displays.
When Jon had been very young, too young to understand what it meant to be a bastard, he used to dream that one day Winterfell might be his. Later, when he was older, he had been ashamed of those dreams. Winterfell would go to Robb and then his sons, or to Bran or Rickon should Robb die childless. And after them came Sansa and Arya. Even to dream otherwise seemed disloyal, as if he were betraying them in his heart, wishing for their deaths. I never wanted this, he thought as he stood before the blue-eyed king and the red woman. I loved Robb, loved all of them . . . I never wanted any harm to come to any of them, but it did. And now there's only me. (ASOS, Jon XI)
And Jon never had any of them literally die in his arms. (Though I think the Ygritte-Lyanna mirror is deliberate and foreshadows something, too.)
Hilariously, Ned almost forces himself to follow in Brandon’s footsteps. Brandon would have likely fathered bastards, Ned gives himself the appearance of having done so. Brandon got himself caught in a death trap on KL, Ned.. yeah.
But we know he did a very good job as Lord in the North. His bannerman (save the flaying enthusiasts) clearly adored him, his children universally admire him, his wife loved him in spite of a very rocky start to their marriage and he had some pretty visionary ideas for settling the Gift. (Which Jon took over.) But Ned cannot see it. Considering Cat is clearly familiar with this subject, I doubt he has been very responsive to genuine praise in the past. Though, I imagine, the inability to open up about Jon played a role in that. The secret was a millstone around his neck that trapped him with one foot in the past.
There is no doubt in my mind that Jon will struggle with the same issues if/when he comes into a position of political power in the North, constant guilt like above, constantly comparing himself to Robb, self-doubt. Here’s hoping he will be more receptive to Sansa’s efforts to both honestly criticize him (and Ned and Robb!) and praise him. But “Don’t... tell... Sansa!” and his not-so-communicative leadership style as Lord Commander hints at an unfortunate future decision to keep her out of important information loops (like Ned did with Cat and Sansa, too) to their mutual detriment.
Let’s hope Jon will get a chance to learn from his mistakes and do better in the very end, when it comes to moving forward from all this destruction and rebuilding, the way Ned never quite could. Sansa is Ned’s spiritual heir, but so is Jon.

You’ll Never Know [J.L.]
Prompt: Fate sometimes just brings people together, time and time again.
Please don’t plagiarize my work!
Word Count: 3, 419
If you haven’t seen Game of Thrones 08x01, do not read past the cut.
“Stop your glaring.”
Your whispering catches Robb’s attention, his eyes sliding from Sansa to you before he sighs. You only smile at your twin, turning your head towards Sansa and catching the same thing he had. She wears a faint blush on her cheeks, a soft, somewhat nervous smile as her gaze remains focused on that of the King’s son.
Anyone can tell she’s smitten. You, personally, can’t understand why. The King’s son isn’t all that much of looker, but of course, you’re not thirteen year old girl anymore. And, you can see why the King’s son might be appealing to a girl of her age.
You’re soon pulled from your thoughts at the King himself’s arrival. Instantly, you’re bowing your head in respect and lowing to your knees, as does everyone else. And as you remained bowed, you let your chin tilt upwards just slightly, enough that you can see the King crawl off of his horse and plant both his feet on the stool provided, clambering down it soon after.
He takes large, intimidating steps over to your father and more specifically your father, halting in front of him. There’s a moment of long pause as your father is ordered to his feet and everyone else, including you, follows his lead. Ned bows his head forward; “your Grace.”
However, all formality is lost the moment Robert croaks out; “you’ve got fat.” That takes almost all of your will power not to laugh at.
Of course, it’s all in fun. Robert is the first to lose the facade, letting out a laugh of joy that your father soon follows, the two embracing shortly afterwards. The tense atmosphere is replaced by one of familiarity and you watch with a small, fond smile as your father reunites with an old friend. Robert greets your mother with the same familiarity, giving a pat to the top of Rickon’s head before moving back to Ned.
“Nine years,” he reminds, “why have I not seen you? Where the hell have you been?”
“Guarding the North for you, your Grace,” Ned explains with ease, smiling softly. “Winterfell is yours.”
Your attention is stolen, for a moment, by the King’s wife, Cersei. She seems anything but pleased to be here, picking up the trail of her skirt as she glances around with deep scrutiny. You never have liked the King’s wife, and instantly, you feel your mood soured by the judgement in her gaze.
“Well, who have we here.”
Blinking, your turn your head to the left, finding the King now in front of your brother. Robb, all too eager to please, is quick to square his shoulders and raise his chin, holding out his hand for the King. “You must be Robb.”
A bit of nerves floods you when his eyes fall on you, and you quickly raise your chin. “And Y/N I assume,” Robert greets his head with a simple nod, “very beautiful.”
You smile faintly at his compliment, nodding your head and just like that, Robert moves on to your sister.
“That’s Jaime Lannister. The Queen’s twin brother.”
Your attention is peaked at the sound of Arya’s words. Instantly, your eyes flicker around the courtyard in search of who Arya speaks of, finding him easily amongst the men decorated in gold plated armour. Even though his is no different than any of the other knights, the way he holds himself and just his name is enough to separate him from the rest.
Despite yourself, you feel your cheeks warm slightly.
All too soon do you feel a scrutinizing gaze on you. Turning your head, you find Robb sending you the same looked he’d been sending Sansa.
“Oh, shut up,” you hiss, rolling your eyes at him
-
“Are you not coming back to the feast?”
You raise a brow at Robb’s question, glancing back in the direction of the feast and then in the direction of your room. Having made up your mind long ago, you shake your head. “No,” you say softly, “i’m a bit tired. Think i’ll head to bed.”
“Okay,” Robb says with a frown and a twitch of his brows. “I’ll see you in the morning.”
“See you.”
With a simple nod and wave, you’re on your way. Though, as you continue on your walk, you find yourself straying from the path that would otherwise lead you to your bedroom. For no real reason other than, despite what you’d said to Robb, you weren’t all that tired. You just hadn’t wanted to go back to the feast and be surrounded by strangers you did not know. You father had informed you, without true warning, that you may be heading back to Kingslanding with him and the girls when the King did.
He’d said it was for the benefit of your family and for the possibility of Sansa marrying the King’s son. You just didn’t understand why you had to go.
You did want to leave your home. You liked it here and were content. You’d spend your days with either Jon or Robb, helping your mother around with the chores and your younger siblings, or just whatever you found to distract yourself. Your life was calm and even if you’d always known it was a possibility, you didn’t want to leave just to be sprung upon the arm of a man.
It meant leaving your home. Everything you’d ever known and the thought of it crushed you.
So, you walked. And walked. Just to clear your head, to get some fresh air. You’d honestly expected to run into Jon along the way, as your mother never let him join in on the festivities when guests were involved. But it seemed even he himself had retired for the night.
“A little lost, my Lady?”
You blink at the voice, turning your head over your shoulder only to find none other than Jaime Lannister himself. If there had been anyone you hadn’t expected to see out her in the middle of the courtyard, it had been Jaime.
“I would hope not,” you comment, managing to catch your bearings. You turn to the man then, clasping your hands politely before yourself. “Given that this is my home.”
Jaime chuckles then, his head bowing forwards briefly as he pushes himself off the wall he’d been leaning against. “It’s true then,” he speaks up, his voice husky as he crosses the distance over to you. “What the people say.”
Raising a brow, you frown; “and what is that the people say?”
“That Y/N Stark, eldest daughter of Eddard Stark, has the beauty of a angel but the personality of a devil.”
You pause, you definitely hadn’t ever heard that before. “Hmm, I didn’t know I was so well spoke of,” you comment lightly with a tilt of your head. “I’m beginning to wonder if you’ve just made that up.”
Jaime shrugs, pursing his lips. “I guess you’ll never know.”
“I guess not.”
There’s a pause then, and you idly wonder if you should excuse yourself. You knew your father would not be pleased if he saw you out here, alone speaking with the Kingslayer and certainly not this late at night. Really, he wouldn’t be happy if it was any time of the day or if you were surrounded by millions. But, before you could, Jaime spoke.
“I heard your father and sisters might be travelling down South.”
Biting your lip, you nod; “that is the plan.”
“Will you be joining him?”
You pause slightly at his question. You don’t know what you’ve done to peek the Queen’s brothers interest and if you were being honest, you didn’t all mind it. But, you knew others would, so, with a small step back, you shrug. “Possibly.”
And Jaime smirks at your response, raising a brow in challenge.
Before you turn to walk off, you let a smirk grace your features; “guess you’ll never know.”
-
“I guess you decided to join your father after all.”
Raising your head at the sound of Jaime’s voice, you keep your gaze before yourself. “I guess so.”
You hear his footsteps wander around behind you, letting his gaze wander across what has been appointed your room. Sansa and Arya are not far from yours and neither is your father’s and in all truth, you’re not sure how Jaime even managed to find your room.
“I always did fancy this room.”
Raising a brow at his words, you finally spin to face the knight, unimpressed. “I wonder,” you pause as if thinking, “do you often stalk your guests whereabouts, or is this just a one time thing?”
Jaime chuckles at your jibe, hand still resting on the handle of his sword as he pauses in his observing’s to glance over at you. He doesn’t have any sort of response and simply only continues to leisurely make his way across the room until he reaches you. You don’t realize how close he grows until he’s there and you feel your back straighten in response, chest tightening.
“Only for guests as beautiful as yourself.”
Despite yourself, you feel your cheeks warm, even if only faintly at his compliment. But you don’t let the moment last, easily pushing back your blush as you roll your eyes. “They did warn me you know your way around words.” You comment lightly, moving away from him to create some distance between the two of you. “I just wasn’t aware of how well.”
“They?” Jaime raises a brow.
“The people.”
“Ah,” he laughs, nodding slowly.
“Anyways,” you continue, hand falling on the handle of your door. “I do believe i’m a little too young for you.”
Jaime’s lips part is if in disbelief, unable to say anything as you simply open the door and excuse yourself. And as you slowly shuffle away from your door, grinning madly as you stare back at it, you don’t notice your father’s approaching figure until you’ve quite literally walked into him. The sudden collision causes a gasp of surprise to leave your lips, spinning around in your father’s arms as your eyes widen upon the sight of him.
“Y/N,” your father greets, brows furrowed in confusion. “Is everyth--”
Ned is interrupted by the sound of your bedroom door opening. Almost instantly, your body freezes as Jaime calmly strolls out of your room, a smirk on his lips as he walks past both you and your father. He greets your father with a nod before sending a wink your way and you’re stunned silent by the display.
What the hell did he think he was doing.
The minute he’s gone, you know you’re in trouble. “Father, I-I can explain--”
His grip on your arms tighten. “I don’t want an explanation, I want you to promise me you’ll stay away from him.”
You pause at your father’s words, turning to him with furrowed brows, silently asking him why.
“He’s trouble, Y/N. I don’t want you near him.” You can’t help but feel your shoulders slump at your father’s words. You’ve always known he never liked the Lannister son, but you hadn’t known it was the deep or this much. “Promise me you’ll stay away from him, okay?”
Confused and honestly a bit shaken, you simply nod at your father’s request.
“I-I promise.”
-
“My father told me to stay away from you.”
“Your father has never liked me.”
You continue to gaze out at Kingslanding beneath you, arms resting on the fence of the balcony as you let Jaime’s words sink in. Then, you continue; “is there a reason why he doesn’t?”
Jaime doesn’t respond right away. Instead, he moves to lean against the balcony beside you, his arm just faintly touching yours. He’s adorned in a simple tunic rather then his armour, so instead of feeling his clunky metal against your exposed skin, it’s just a thin piece of clothe. It surprises you, for whatever reason.
“I assume there must be.”
You only sigh at Jaime’s comment, pushing yourself up. With a shake of your head, you take a step back. “I should go. Father must be wondering where I am and if I--”
You’re cut off by the feeling of Jaime’s hand wrapping around your wrist, halting your movements. He tugs you back towards him which all but takes your breath away, hands falling on his chest in surprise as you blink up at him. Why you’ve haven’t been oblivious to the clear flirting that has been passed back and forth between the two of you, this is an action that is next level. Quite honestly, you find yourself stunned with surprise.
“Jaime...”
“The Lannister’s and the Stark’s have never gotten along,” Jaime says simply, ignoring your whisper of his name. As he speaks, you find yourself unable to tear your gaze away. “But now, your sister and my nephew are to be married, to pull our houses and the Baratheon’s together. Why not strengthen the tie?”
Your eyes widen at the implications of his words.
“But... we’ve only just met and--”
“Joffrey and Sansa have only just met.”
“You’re a knight,” you remind, your stare fierce as you shake your head up at the man. “You can’t just throw that away--”
“I can speak to my father.”
“Jaime,’ you shake your head, it reeling with how fast things have suddenly moved. “Why, of all girls, would you want to marry me? You said it yourself, I am a Stark and you are a Lannister. I--”
“Because,” Jaime interrupts, his hand raising to brush against your cheek. His touch is gentle and it causes your lips to part, your heart fluttering. “I have never met a woman like you.”
You don’t have a response. You’re speechless. However, you don’t have to say anything, because Jaime’s lips are on yours in the next second. It takes you by the surprise, more than anything else has in these past five minutes. And before you know it, you find yourself reciprocating the kiss. Your back arches into Jaime and your hands move to curl around his neck, wanting him closer.
Then, promise me you’ll stay away from him.
You’re pulling back from Jaime before you can even process your thoughts. You’re panting, stumbling back from him as he stares down at you with wide eyes and as your hands move to brush back your hair, glancing every which way other than Jaime, you find yourself stumbling over your words.
“I... This is... I have to go.”
You turn and run the other way before Jaime can even try and stop you.
You don’t see Jaime again after that. Soon, your father is arrested and Jaime is sent off to join his father in the fight against your brother, Robb. You are stuck in Kingslanding with both Sansa and Arya.
Then, Ned is killed right before your very eyes. You are forced to watch as your father is murdered brutally, cruelly and unjustified all while you’re unable to do anything to help him or stop it. You have to listen to your sister scream and cry and beg with all she can before she eventually passes out from it all.
You’re stuck in Kingslanding after that, tortured along side Sansa. Arya had gone missing the day of your father’s execution and your heart breaks at the realization that she could be, and probably is, dead. You do everything you can to protect your sister from the cruelty of the Lannisters but sometimes you fail and all you can do is watch as she is married to the Tyrion Lannister as some sort of cruel joke.
Cersei, although she hates your sister, seems to hate you more than anyone else. You’re just sure why, but every time her eyes land on you, there’s this hatred behind them that shakes you to the core. Of course, you stand your ground as best you can, raise your chin and not let her knock you down. You might be her prisoner, but you were still a Stark, and you would not let her belittle you like some peasant.
And then, your brother and mother are killed by the Frey’s and Bolton’s. Everything seems to turn darker from then on. The death of your mother and twin brother are what finally destroy you. You have no fight in you from that point on, and you simply let the Lannisters and Cersei do whatever they want with you.
You finally see Jaime again at Joffrey’s wedding to Margaery. You, of course, had heard of his return. After escaping the clutches of Robb and then rescued from someone else, it was only a matter of time before he returned. Jaime does try to search for you, but you adamantly avoid him. Whatever happened that night no longer mattered, because his family had murdered yours. He was, adversely or inadvertently responsible for your family’s suffering.
He does manage to catch you once before, however. You’d been walking in the halls on your own when he had suddenly appeared before you. Jaime had looked the same but so different since the last time you’d seen him. He no longer had a right hand and his hair was shorter, but it went deeper than that. The cockiness in his eyes was gone and it almost seemed like he was a changed man.
When you tried to walk away, his words had stopped you.
“I’m sorry,” he had said. “I’m sorry for everything that’s happened to you.”
And you couldn’t quite believe your ears.
“I never...”
He didn’t continue after that. His words having trailed off. Whatever he’d been about to say, you never found out. And then, at the Purple wedding, you were whisked off alongside Sansa before Jaime could even find you.
And for a while, it’s you and Sansa against all odds once again. Your married off to Ramsay Bolton, having refused to let Sansa be the one. You wouldn’t let that happen again, ever again.
Your time as Ramsay’s wife is torturous. After helping Sansa escape but not being able to yourself, it only turns worse. If it hadn’t been for Sansa and Jon, you’re sure you would’ve died.
And now, here you are, back in Winterfell. This time, Stark banners cover the castle walls instead of Bolton banners. Sansa is Lady of Winterfell as you refused to fill the role, always knowing she was better at that then you ever were. And Jon was appointed King of the North, like Robb once had been. He’d gone and come back to get allies for the battle against the White Walkers, and allies had he brought.
Arya and Bran were back too, though, none of them quite like you remembered them being.
Things are hectic but calm at the same time, and you help where you can for the battle ahead of yourselves. You knew Jon and this Targaryen Queen had promised Lannister men, but you don’t expect them to truly come. It’s Cersei after all that had promised them, and no matter what the stakes, her word could never be trusted.
You knew that.
That’s why, as you’re standing by the gate of Winterfell, you don’t expect to see Jaime. There is no army, like you had expected. It’s just him, hidden underneath a dark and dirty old cape as he hops off his horse. When you realize it’s him, you’re stunned with disbelief, watching him from a far and unnoticed. His gaze is elsewhere, on Bran no less, which confuses you but not enough to dwell on it for too long.
And then, before you know it, your feet are moving. You suddenly find yourself making your way over to the man, unable to stop yourself.
When Jaime’s eyes finally meet yours, you’re once again stunned speechless. He’s seen better days but he’s still the same man that used to cause your cheeks to warm and your heart to flutter like crazy. Staring at him makes you feel like a young woman once again, standing in the courtyard of Winterfell as your eyes laid upon him for the first time.
You remember the first time you spoke to him and then when you first arrived at Kingslanding. You remember when you kissed him for the first and only time.
You remember when he’d apologized for all that had happened to you.
Your eyes are watering before you’re able to stop yourself and you find a smile, despite everything, growing on your lips.
“I guess you never really do know, huh?”

can you write the dissertation on sansa? i watch game of thrones and i used to find her annoying. she's stopped being so annoying to me but i don't see what you see in her but i'm interested in knowing why you love her so much
my time has come
Sansa starts out as a young, pampered 13 year old girl, who was born to a wealthy, powerful, respected family. She was raised to believe in very specific (feminine) parameters of who she should be, what she should want, and what she should do. And she was good (if not great) at everything she was taught to be and do.
So, like a high-class girl raised the way she was raised, she got the attention of a prince and wanted to be a princess; she was a romantic who believed in knights and songs and - of course, that’s what she wanted. And no, she didn’t think critically about political or social matters at that time - not because she couldn’t but because she was never taught that she should.
And yes, in season one when she was a child, she made mistakes because she was spoiled and could be bratty. And yes, her mistakes did contribute to some of the events that followed, like her father’s fate (but honestly, his death was essentially sealed no matter what because of what a psychopath Joffrey was). And my god, did she pay for it.
She was forced - literally held up - to watch her father get beheaded in front of her while she screams and cries and eventually passes out from the trauma of it.
Then she’s held hostage in King’s Landing, a place so very, very far from home, with the family who is literally killing her own. Physically abused by adult men, emotionally and mentally abused (including forced to look at her father and septa’s beheaded heads). Is forced to constantly put-down and renounce her family as traitors when all she wants is to see them again.
She finds out that her ancestral family home is taken from her family, that her little brothers are dead (yes we know they aren’t but she doesn’t). She’s forced to marry a man over twice her age. She hears about how her brother and mother - the last hope she had to come and rescue her - are brutally murdered.
And not only has to hear about it, but is literally forced to live with the people responsible for killing her entire family. The people who rub her face in the fact that not only is her family dead but that they killed them, who make her watch plays and sing songs glorifying the death of everyone she loved.
All of this while she is only a teenager.
You know what she does? She survives.
She wields her courtesy like armor; she holds her tongue when she wants to lash out and puts up a facade that she isn’t breaking inside.
She starts learning to use her words as her weapons. When Joffrey taunts her, she gives subtle reserved rejoinders that insult him just enough to toe the line (Joffrey: I’ll tell you what. I’m going to give you a present. After I raise my armies and kill your traitor brother, I’ll give you his head as well. Sansa: Or maybe he’ll give me yours.)
She adapts and evolves in a world where she feels incredibly alone. Not only alone but feels guilty and stupid.
Then she leaves King’s Landing - after being framed for murder - and is taken into the custody of a creepy man who was in love with her mother and is now in love with her (ugh) and yet, he is all she has at the time to rely on. And from there?
She learns even more; she starts to understand truly how to move the pieces of the game that she’s been thrown into.
But before she even has a say in her own life, she gets brought to Winterfell and is forced to be there with the family who betrayed hers and helped lead them to their deaths before stealing their home. She’s forced to marry the craziest, most monstrous character on the entire show (a man who rapes her, who locks her in a room, who plays mind games with her).
And, she never backs down from him – making comments to plant seeds of doubt about his status as a bastard, “I am Sansa Stark of Winterfell. This is my home. And you can’t frighten me.”
Still, she survives. She jumps off of a literal fucking castle to escape him, goes through feet of snow, through frozen waters and escapes him.
And when she’s finally reunited with her remaining family and Jon presents her with the opportunity to run away from this mess - because he is sick of fighting - it’s Sansa who now has grown this spine of steel. It’s Sansa who stands up for herself, to all of the men in the room who are older who are more familiar with wars and fighting, and asserts that she needs to take the Stark home back from the monster who lives there.
Who wins that war against Ramsay Bolton? Yes Jon - at Sansa’s insistence and while also not consulting her - fought in the war, but he would have been dead if Sansa hadn’t gotten the soldiers from the Vale to help them.
Let’s take the moment to reflect on that, too – Sansa wanted nothing more in the beginning of the show to leave the North. That the North was boring, wanted a new life, wanted to go south, and now? Now all she wants is her home. The home she left behind became all she longed for (it’s also why I’m so absolutely bullshit about Jon bending the knee and giving the North to Dany without even consulting Sansa).
In the end, it’s Sansa - the Northern girl who wanted nothing more than to leave the North when she was a child - who wins back the Stark home. It’s Sansa who underwent that development, that growth, to appreciate where she was from and the life she used to have.
And it’s also Sansa who has the knowledge and the understanding of politics, now, to actually rule the North when the Starks take back Winterfell, let’s be real. Sansa knows how to play the game, now. She knows how to manipulate and how to be diplomatic and how to reign in her emotions.
She plays Littlefinger - one of the smartest players in the game - like a fiddle, using the knowledge she took partly from him, while also cutting him off at the knees with the wit and cutting remarks that she’s learned over the years (“No need to seize the last word, Lord Baelish. I’ll assume it was something clever.”)
When he tries to manipulate her in the last season? She saw through it and orchestrated a plan to double-cross him. Her last words to him - “I’m a slow learner, it’s true. But I learn. Thank you for all your many lessons, Lord Baelish. I will never forget them.” before she gives the nod for Arya to fucking kill him in a court Sansa called?!
A Fucking Queen.
(though I will always contest that she is a slow learner; she was learning and surviving on the tips of her toes at every turn since the end of the first season)
Sansa went through hell and clawed her way back. She did start off as a spoiled child, and she more than paid any kind of “price.”
Sansa lost everything, was held captive, and survived by learning. Using her mind, her words, her politics. She isn’t like Arya and Jon and Bran who had the ability to physically leave the bad situation she was stuck in and find her own path. She isn’t like them in that she doesn’t have the ability to physically fight back.
She is flawed, she’s made mistakes, she’s human. But she has grown. She’s learned from her - and other people’s - mistakes, to become a smart, willful, strategic, diplomatic leader. She takes the best parts of her parents (their courage, their intelligence, their loyalty) and can look back and understand the mistakes they made to try to make sure she and her siblings don’t repeat them.
Sansa Stark is a beautiful, strong, well-developed character, and she deserves the world.

Let’s Talk about Subverting Expectations
What happened in ep 8x05 was not a subversion of expectations, it was a fuck you to the art of writing and fans.
I’m a writer and, although I don’t get paid for my work, I’d never pull the shit D&D did and no one should be supporting that shit either.
Words don’t fucking magically appear on the page, that shit is plotted out even if it isn’t in excruciating detail. It takes minutes, hours, days, weeks, and even years for things to finally come together for a book, show, movies, etc. Great work doesn’t happen overnight and you can clearly tell that no love, thought, to attention was given to the storyline for S8 of GOT.
They had two fucking years to get this shit right. They’ve had the ending since the beginning. They had time to adequately plot out all of this shit and have character motivations make sense.
Because when you “subvert expectations”, the details are woven into the plot they just aren’t obvious. They’re inconspicuous, so we leave them alone for other plot points that are saying, “pay attention to me.” That’s why it’s a subversion: the clues WERE there.
Dany going mad/dark isn’t a subversion because 1. they clues were underdeveloped 2. The reason why she went mad isn’t the reason why people think she went mad.
People point to her not reacting to her brother getting killed, burning slave masters, the Tarly’s etc., BUT D&D flat out said that if Missandei and/or Jorah lived, things would’ve went differently. “Oh, those two were just the straws that broke the camels back!!!”
NO.
Madness is said to be a gene for the Targeryens, but if all of that other shit wasn’t stoking that madness fire within her, yet watching the two people she trusted most LITERALLY DIE FOR HER, it says that her mental break was due to circumstance and NOT genes.
Dany has been handed so many L’s for being merciful and listening to SHITTY advice and fucking snapped because “fuck this shit.” Fuck it ALL.
“bUT ThaT MAKes her BaD.”
I honestly don’t give a shit and I don’t want to hear shit about, “If she can’t put up with adverse as a Queen, she doesn’t deserve to be Queen.”
We’ve constantly see Dany put off her plans and fucking offer her resources to others who’ve backstabbed her and showed ungratefulness at every time. We want her to keep taking this shit on the chin because we (read: antis) fucking hate her. Tyrion was fucking incompetent for 2-3 seasons straight. Varys betrayed her. Jon betrayed her. Sansa stayed true to the snake she is (regarding Jon). She lost two of the closest people to her and we expect Dany to have the sanity of a saint???
People kept saying Dany would turn on Jon and kill him, but Dany still HASN’t done that shit even tho he HAS betrayed her. And please shut the fuck up about how it was his secret to tell. Why in the fuck would he tell it DURING a fucking war, esp to a sister that fucking LOATHES Dany?
Why???
Jon could’ve WAITED UNTIL AFTER THE WAR.
But, he had to do that shit know, which set off the entire chain of events. Although Dany is responsible for murdering the Red Keep, Jon, Tyrion, Varys, and Sansa all have motherfucking blood on their hands.
ALL OF THEM.
Dany KEPT fucking trying to bargain with them or hold her tongue and listen to them, but since the everyone (including the writers) wanted Dany to go mad so bad we got this shit.
None of their actions or motivations makes sense.
Do y'all know how much TV and shows I watch? Do y'all know how savvy am I about how shit works? I can accurately predict most storylines and characters due to intently focusing on the story, details, tropes, and constant analysis of what I consume. I already knew this shit was coming, but I wanted my expectations subverted so bad even if it didn’t make sense. I wanted to believe that D&D weren’t frauds playing at being great writers (I know, I know, this trend started back in S5).
They relied heavily on telling instead of showing. They relied heavily on having trusted characters express whatever pushed the plot forward even if it didn’t make any sense. They relied on our love for the Starks to sway us into siding against any and everyone who disagree with them or are against them.
I said before that Arya’s character doesn’t make any sense when she’s paired with and defending Sansa and she DOESN’T. Not only was that relationship not earned, it goes against who Arya is--not the relationship, how she behaves in regards to Sansa and her xenophobia.
Also, her character motivation doesn’t make sense when going back to KL’s or how easily she was persuaded to leave. Why didn’t we see any conversations between her and the Hound leading up to that moment???
Sansa doesn’t make any sense. People want to talk how she knows how to play the game well, but here’s how she doesn't: LF and Varys spent over a decade fucking manipulating the court while most were oblivious to what they were doing. They’ve been doing this shit longer than Sansa was alive. No one has ever flat out called out their shit at the beginning of their scheming careers.
Sansa starts her first true case of scheming in the game and Dany immediately knows it was her. “But, Sansa won!!!” I mean, yeah, due to shitty writing.
Just about every major and cunning player is never blatantly called out like this even if people suspect them. Why? Because you aren’t playing if others know your move and that's how you get dead.
By Sansa being openly antagonistic to Dany, she showed her hand and that’s why I’ve always said it was fucking stupid for Sansa to be openly hostile to her. Sansa Stans thought I wanted them to be friends or for Sansa to bend the knee, which is moot since Jon did it, and it’s not that. Fucking politically savvy people don’t do the dumb shit Sansa did. That’s how Dany IMMEDIATELY knew how Varys found out and WHO the information leaked from. But, since Sansa has plot armor and the writers are up her ass, she won’t reaped the consequences for being shitty at the game.
(and Varys would NEVER make such a mistake, but I’m glad he’s dead)
And Tyrion. This motherfucker has been useless for HOW long???
Are people forgetting how much BAD advice he’s given Dany or that he believed he could appeal to Cersei’s humanity, which got people dead. Cersei ain’t never give a fuck about him and that’s not tea, that’s all facts (no chaser). Tyrion has done so much fuck shit, I hope he dies as well, but that’s not going to happen. The writer’s love Tyrion too much.
Having Cersei die with Jaime and not by Jaime or anyone else is BAD writing. Nothing in the show or books supports that this would happen. Having Jaime die with Cersei opposed to him believing he needs to kill her is BAD writing. Having Brienne lose her virginity to him is BAD writing.
And to further prove how shitty the writing is, D&D literally admitted that Arya was only in the episode so viewers would care about the people in KL’s getting seared--THAT’S IT! That whole plot point about Arya wanting to kill Cersei was bullshit, which is obvious as fuck when watching the episode.
I can take stuff happening that I don’t like happening if it’s written well, but as a lover of shows and books and as a writer, this shit is downright infuriating. None of this shit was properly set up. NONE.
Writing is a motherfucking discipline and should be treated with respect. I don’t know if D&D are obsessed with “subverting expectations” or shock or whatever the hell that consumes their minds, but THIS is how you destroy the legacy of a show that was must watch TV. This is HOW you show you don’t care for a well loved show, DESPITE HBO saying they’d give you as much time as they needed to tell a story.
I wouldn’t have liked Dany going mad, but if it was told well, I would’ve gotten it. This wasn’t.
Arya’s character motivations this season, outside of Gendry, doesn’t make any fucking sense.
Sansa doesn’t make sense.
Jon-wtf.
Jaime--all of them.
How are expectations subverted by Dany becoming mad???
Look, I don’t give a shit if people like it, I give a shit about bad writing that was poorly set up.

got an ask from @moonkiddionysus17 about GoT!! 💕 I hope u don’t mind if I answer u like this -- I know a few people tryna keep away from spoilers so they can watch all of it at once so i’ll do a readmore here and add a spoiler warning!! 💕
[[ Game of Thrones Season 8 Ep. 3 Spoiler Warning ]]
I LOVE the beginning where we just... get a slow tension build with that good 10-15 minutes of everyone.. getting ready for war?? I’m thinking about HOW it just segments so nicely if we binge watch the season all at once-- to come from the first 2 episodes into this one-- it feels like a good progression because we DON’T skip straight into the fighting (that would’ve been really chaotic) -- not to say the actual fight/battle wasn’t a mess but I really really love how it turns out with the front-line tension building.
LOVE Arya this episode -- there was one point-- the library scene I think where it kind of remind me of her time in Bravos. When she closed her eyes for a second I thought she was going to bring out what she learnt when she was blind -- like, navigation and stuff. But it kinda didn’t happen-- we DID get a good part of her being stealthy and putting her “assassination” skills to use!!
Also love how we get to see her actually spar on the gate as well -- it was a good contrast, and shows her proficiency in both conditions (multiple v singular) and I really like that we get to see Arya diversified skill-set here. But YEAH anyways LOVE that for her -- I think because we saw her running out and then we didn’t see her again it kinda cued us in that she’s doing something? Honestly maybe with the Melissandra stuff we might’ve been given too many obvious clues?? That she was going to kill the Night King?? But it was good-- and I’m glad anyways!!
I know twitter has a lot of opinion on Bran right now, I kinda agree like this is the One Time he could pull a card out of his sleeve but it didn’t happen?? If he uses his knowledge power to play some castle-ground (king’s landing) gossiping political game it feels.. like an under-estimation of his powers (went past the wall, did so many adventure-y things in The Big North and then DIDN’T use it with the Night King-- but saving it to use on court politics?? In king’s landing??) --- but alright if he DOES something epic with it then maybe it’ll be fine
I DON’T think the Night King was defeated too easily-- honestly, considering the MESS that was the battle -- I’m glad he got One Up on Dany (with the flame thing) and I don’t know-- what he did, I’m happy with the way it turned out. Resurrecting the Just Fallen?? Ticked off my bucket list. Ruthlessly using the dead to make a bridge of bodies?? Ticked off as well. Casting a snow storm to help with war strategy?? Amazing.
I’m excited to see the next episode-- I hope they don’t go straight into ‘ok now we charge for King’s Landing’ but actually see like-- the repercussions of war. What are they gon’ do with the bodies? Who’s going to burn their dead by going back home/respecting ancestry? What about who’s left? Who even IS left (in terms of forces against Cersei now) Do we HAVE a THIRD Targaryen?? Is ANYONE going to be Azor Ahai??
As for the ending of Games of Thrones -- I’m thinking about the DEBT that’s on the crown now because CERSEI took out the loan (that she definitely couldn’t pay back) so in a way i HOPE she stays in the crown if it’s any sort of punishment/repent. Who ELSE is going to pay back that debt? Dany? Jon? Sansa? Tyrion?
She dug the grave she should lay in it?? In a sense?? So financially I hope this is some kind of repentance. On the OTHER hand -- I don’t actually KNOW who should rule the 7 kingdoms. Sansa cares for the North, so I hope she gets to rule it. ‘Cold’ looks good on her and I love her this Season.
Jon -- as we’ve established -- ‘knows nothing’ -- so idk about him. Dany can be-- naive, and I don’t?? Trust Tyrion to run a country.
I think for the characters-- everyone has a ‘role’ they fit better than being a ‘ruler’. Brienne as a knight, Arya as .. whatever she is now. But someone would have to step up to it right? That’s always the deal with ‘ruling’ -- it’s a responsibility, and a weight. You want to Do Right but at the same time-- that has to come with over-coming your own weakness, blind spots and greed. Nobody actually ‘wants’ to rule and is actually ‘great’ at it (I really miss House Tyrell with Olenna and Margaery right now).
For the ending -- well I hope there’s more death?? It sounds weird I know, but I feel like the Death of a few characters would satisfy their arc/story-line and the whole progression/plot holes they’ve been building. Jaime as the King Slayer -- I hope he actually slays the one who rules the throne or idk-- redemption or something better. Arya -- as the many faced god, wouldn’t there be a price to pay for using it for her own motive/list? The Hound -- if he doesn’t kill his brother or die with him, I hope he gets to find fulfillment somewhere.
Sansa I hope stays alive -- if anything, it’s for the sake of the North. Perhaps the North can be the new capital -- but maybe this is a bit optimistic. Tyrion -- MIGHT die?? He’s been talking about his death a lot, so maybe he will die?
I’m still feeling things about when Greyworm was on the otherside of the trench and closed it off -- while the Unsullied stayed on the front line and perish. Literally this is -- what? The Dothraki AND the Unsullied are gone?? Does this mean Dany only has the North left (+ her dragons)
Anyways-- let me know what you think as well!! 💕 I LOVE talking about this!! 💕 I have so many emotions and I just ksjdnfkjn this episode feels SO GOOD like something I can watch over and over again y know?? 💕💕
OH and Lady Mormont taking down a GIANT!!! 💕 To be fair-- I think all the deaths in the war was well-done, although suspiciously minimal as in-- I’d expect more characters to die during this fight and not just numbers (troops - dothraki + unsullied) -- if some other key characters also died, it would’ve been fantastic
EDIT: WAIT ONE LAST THING... basically, the deaths here feels very strategic once the immediate battle is over. Dothraki and Unsullied died-- so Dany would be forced to rely on the North. Who has power in the North to rally troops? The Little bear would’ve had an influence here if she was alive.
The supporting characters who’ve died-- Theon, has a lead to Yara on the Iron Island (although Yara’s allegiance to Dany probably wouldn’t be compromised) Bronn -- as part of the Night’s Watch/Wilding guide. Jorah Mormont -- as part of the leading force of Dany’s army.
It just all seem very... hmm, strategic for the plot. And also I would’ve expected way more death and casualties in war than this. Those at the front lines-- Gendry, Podrick, Brienne, Jaime, Sam. I wouldn’t have expected them to live despite how good they were, even if I did want them to live y know? The fatalities were minimal to say the least-- and I can’t believe im saying this, but i wish game of thrones would ramp it up for the last season?
Anyways yeah, 💕

25 Game of Thrones-Obsessed Artists Predicted the Fate of Westeros
Before you continue reading, here’s your *SPOILER ALERT*!
With only one grueling week until the highly-anticipated Game of Thrones finale, we’re dying to know the fate of Westeros. Will Arya’s white horse lead her to victory? Will Sansa prove herself worthy of being the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms? Will Daenerys cease her Mad King rampage? Will Jon Snow turn against his queen and save what’s left amidst the ashy ruins?
Only time will tell… but in the meantime, we asked 25 of your favorite artists, who just so happen to be ultimate Game of Thrones fans, who they predicted would’ve taken the infamous Iron Throne before it burnt down in flames. Keep reading for responses from DOROTHY, flor, Jacob Banks, Rhye (who is apparently a fortune teller), and many more!
Ayelle
"I think (hope) Arya will end up on the Iron Throne, simply because she'll be the last one standing, she's the coldest, and lowkey probably more brutal than Daenerys (even though she's trying to be)."
Baby FuzZ
“Joffrey will return via a time machine and take out everyone. Now hear me out… The Starbucks cup in the past episode was definitely foreshadowing time travel, so be prepared for Joffrey’s return, but dressed in modern clothes and sporting some sick tattoos.”
BAUM
“I’m definitely gonna have to go with Sansa. She 100% knows how to manipulate people and plays the game better than anyone else.”
Calum Scott
“My prediction was that the Night King would have won both wars and that the season (and the show) would have ended with him on the throne [and] only white walkers left. But Arya spectacularly ended that prediction for me! Saying that, people are saying that Bran is actually the Night King, so maybe I’m not wrong… As much as I’d like it to happen, I think Dany or Jon is too obvious... I think I would like to see Tyrion on there!”
Cherry Glazerr
“Tabor and I have both been watching this season of ‘GoT’ so this is a very exciting thing to think about and discuss!! We feel like Arya has a shot at the Iron Throne and we’re just going to go ahead and put her name first because she’s a more unlikely candidate, she’s just killed the night king, and she’s obviously ruthless!!” - Clementine Creevy of Cherry Glazerr
Dagny
“I’m a massive ‘Game of Thrones’ fan, and I already have a few bets with friends on who’s gonna sit on the Iron Throne by the end of it. I was really late to the party; I only started watching it in April this year, and binged the whole thing in no time. I’m placing my bet on either Jon Snow or Arya. I’m not entirely sure how it’s gonna happen, but they’re my favorites. After Arya’s amazing jump straight outta the wood, placing a dagger in the ‘heart’ of the Night King, I was like, ‘Yup, girl’s got this.’ Jon Snow might be too obvious, but he’s so nice and if I was living in Westeros, I’d like him to be king.”
DOROTHY
“In my opinion, Jon and Dany could rule together because it’s weirdly romantic, but I think Arya will take the throne because she has the heart of a lion. She’s the ultimate protector and would make a benevolent but badass ruler.”
Drinker
“I don’t watch it, but my bandmate Anina Denove thinks the show is about so much more than who ‘wins’ the throne. It’s more about the game and the characters and less about the throne. But if I must, I think the likely candidate is Jon; he’s not only been revealed as the rightful heir, but has also proven himself a natural leader and survivor throughout the series. A boring prediction, but I think the most practical.”
flor
“Sansa - She has been through literal hell and survived, even thrived. She has learned the intimate details of how to navigate in politics and keeps a cool head. As far as legitimacy... if everyone else is dead, there’s no one to challenge her claim.” - McKinley Kitts of flor
Great Good Fine Ok
“Arya will kill Daenerys, and Jon Snow will take the Iron Throne… I HOPE!”
Jacob Banks
“Tyrion Lannister. I think he’s a Targaryen, which would make him the heir to the throne.”
James Droll
“Jon Snow (or Aegon Targaryen)! As much as I’d prefer to have a woman on the throne, I do believe the series has been grooming Jon to rule. Before anyone even knew of his royal ties, he has displayed his ability to win over his enemies and lead with compassion. If there is anyone to unite the seven kingdoms, it’s gonna be him. There is a small, albeit masochistic, part of me that wants Cersei to win though… Can’t wait to find out who it’s going to be!”
Knox Hamilton
“It’s honestly hard to imagine anyone surviving this season - let alone claiming the Iron Throne. However, it’s easy enough to imagine that Cersei and Qyburn have something ridiculously diabolical in store for Westeros, which will annihilate half the population. Jon Snow, in all of his broody bearded beautifulness, seems to have the best shot at sitting on the Iron Throne. For a few moments, anyway, before being betrayed by Lord Varys for ‘the good of the realm.’ Regardless of the outcome, it’s safe to say that everyone will lose at the ‘Game of Thrones.’” - Drew Buffington of Knox Hamilton
Lo Lo
“I think I’m gonna go with… Sansa Stark. She will win the Iron Throne because, first of all, I think Dany and Jon will probably die, and she’s the only one actually acting like a true leader. She’ll be the only one left that can actually do it, I think.”
Luna Shadows
“Dany has gone full Anakin on us, so I’m officially hopping on the Stark train, and by train I mean white horse. Arya, you’re our only hope.”
Pell
“My prediction is that Daenerys will take the Iron Throne, but Arya will kill her. I think there’s a place for Sansa on the throne because she’s the most well rounded character that’s suited for it and she’s a Stark. I have to believe that the Starks can get on the Iron Throne, even if Sansa’s maybe the only one who wants it.”
PHANGS
“Going into this final episode of the series, I have so many thoughts. I think that Daenerys actually saw the final outcome back in season 2, when she was in the house of the undying, looking for her baby dragons. The vision was of a castle with the ceiling ripped off and the throne covered in snow. I can only assume that this is symbolic of Jon Snow being the force that takes her throne. Also, she is showing big time glimpses of the infamous Mad King in her current actions… leaving me to wonder if after destroying King’s Landing and taking her throne, Tyrion will take his place as the ‘Queen Slayer,’ as a nod to the undying love for his family that he can never seem to outrun. Then he’ll bring Sansa back to King’s Landing to have the Starks run the Seven Kingdoms with honor, but with Jon Snow on the throne as king.”
Pretty Vicious
“Well, I mean, if anyone is gonna sit on the Iron Throne it should be Bran, right? Dude’s literally omniscient. Plus, they could give the throne a sick makeover and give it wheels and stuff. The Iron Wheelchair… I like the sound of that.” - Elliot Jones of Pretty Vicious
Rainsford
“My heart is torn between Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow for the Iron Throne. I haven’t started the final season because I needed to refresh my brain to all the information in the previous seasons. So for all I know, they could be dead now (this show is obviously not afraid to kill its heroes) or maybe they’ve joined forces! (Fingers crossed, ignorance is bliss).
Rhye
“I think no one is going to win the Iron Throne… I think it is going to be destroyed in the fury to control it. Possibly by a dragon. Just my two cents… It would be a cool lesson, as everything the audience wants to see happen seems to meet a bitter end.”
Rozzi
“Okay so I’ve seen 1.25 episodes of ‘Game of Thrones.’ I got through about 15 minutes of S1E1 before falling into a deep sleep and didn’t make any second attempt until two weeks ago when I agreed to a date that involved watching a new episode with five of my date’s ‘GoT’ obsessed friends. I have no idea what ‘the Iron Throne’ is or who will ‘win’ it, and to be honest, I don’t care! BUT here is my prediction anyway: the one who’s sleeping with his aunt. Because the only thing I know about ‘GoT’ is they like to freak us out so a ‘murder your crush who’s also your aunt and win the show’ moment feels right!”
Sheridan Reed
“Jon and Tyrion are going to go against Dany after her burning King’s Landing. BUT Dany’s going to execute Jon, while Arya then assassinates Dany. Somehow Tyrion survives and ends up as hand of the queen to SANSA STARK ON THE IRON THRONE.”
SWMRS
“Dany deserves the Iron Throne. She’s lost friends and nearly her entire family line. She found out she can’t be with the person she loves. She lost two dragons and gets categorized as going ‘mad’ because of her emotions. She has fought for freedom, broken chains, and inspired more people than anyone else in play for the throne of the Seven Kingdoms.” - Joey Armstrong of SWMRS
The Hunna
“Daenerys is going to go mad like the Mad King did because she can’t handle the throne not actually belonging to her. The last dragon will die. I think Arya could be the one to kill Cersei. I’m hoping for Jon and Daenerys to rule together, but I also feel like they could both die and Gendry takes the throne.” - Ryan Potter of The Hunna
“Arya and Gendry. They are not the obvious choice, but both of them would want the Seven Kingdoms to live in peace. Gendry is the only living Baratheon and now appointed Lord of Storm’s End. That gives him a bigger chance to claim the throne.” - Jack Metcalfe of The Hunna
“I really wanna see Daenerys, Jon Snow, and her dragon Drogon sitting on the Iron Throne. However, I can really imagine something random happening. Maybe something like Cersei staying on top by not getting defeated. That would be so savage. Imagine that…” - Daniel Dorney of The Hunna
“Jon Snow.” - Junate Angin of The Hunna
Vista Kicks
“Sansa and Tyrion. Dany is gonna die. So is Jon.”

I go off on GOT
[NOTE: I keep trying to add the Jon-Sansa hug GIFS but Tumblr REFUSES to let me save or post with them. It’s fucking annoying]
*Rubs face*
Auntie LK is annoyed and she is going to take it out on y’all. I’m gunna go ahead and go off on Sansa hate, Jonsa, Dark Sansa and all that shit so hang onto your assholes.
SO. The new promos. There’s been the idea for a long time, since S6 really, of the idea of Sansa plain murdering Jon or Jonsa becoming canon since, well, Jon and Sansa are now maternal cousins rather than agnate siblings (as in, siblings with the same father but different mother).
S6 had Sansa and Jon reunite for the first time since S1. A lot of heavy shit has happened, some of it they share (like losing their father and brother Robb, Winterfell getting a bad squid infection via Theon being a little bitch) but also stuff they didn’t share (an absolute battering and rape for Sansa, literally being stabbed to literal death for Jon). For Jon, who just came back from the motherfuckin’ dead 10 minutes ago and decided he had enough of this shit he’s out, this is pure shock.
For Sansa? This is pure RELIEF. Remember, Jon is the FIRST family member she has seen since the death of Ned. She hasn’t seen her mother (who is dead GOOD LAWL god I hate her), her eldest brother, her brat little sister, or her two littlest brothers since either leaving Winterfell or since Ned’s beheading. Not only that, he’s the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch as far as she knows, so he’s in a position of power that is untouched by machinations of the South. Who is in power? Who cares. The Night’s Watch doesn’t deal with that shit and Cersei can’t follow her up here. And if Ramsey decides to give chase, it’s more than Jon to fight back.
Look at the hug. She almost cries, listen to the shuddery inhale of breath as she fights that back, she practically falls into him, and once they hug she looks for comfort and support. For Sansa, this is absolute relief. Her ordeal, for the moment, is over. She escaped Ramsey, the rape, the torture. She survived the snow, the river, the chase and being hunted. And now she is safe in the arms of her older brother.
For Jon, he is absolutely stunned to see her. For as much as they didn’t really get along, she’s still his sister, and he said goodbye to his family in Winterfell years ago. Only Benjen went to the Wall, and he disappeared, so Sansa is the first he’s seen in a long time. Hell, Jon almost ran to join Robb in his rebellion, and only just resisted and came back.
Family came for Jon after his resurrection.
After this comes a really important talk. Sansa and Jon’s relationship was never really touched on; Jon and Robb hugged and treated each other as peer-brothers (and it’s fucking CUTE I would CUT SOMEONE to see more bro Jon and Robb!!), Jon and Arya were cute-as-buttons older brother/pint-sized sister, and Jon cared so much about Bran that he bore Catlyn’s cunty comments in order to say goodbye. The only two not explored were Sansa and Rickon. It’s really important to note that Sansa took after Cat. And that meant absorbing her loathing of Jon, something that is talked about. Sansa gets to brass tacks about it:
Sansa : I spent a lot of time thinking about what an ass I was to you. I wish I could change everything. Jon: We were children. Sansa : I was awful, just admit it. Jon : ( chuckles ) You were occasionally awful. I'm sure I can't have been great fun. Always sulking in the corner while the rest of you played. Sansa : Can you forgive me? Jon : There's nothing to forgive. Sansa : Forgive me. Jon : All right. All right, I forgive you.
Sansa knows she was wrong, wants to make it right, and does not allow Jon to sweep it away. She is determined to make sure he knows she knows she was wrong. It can be interpreted that she wants to secure his forgiveness and is in fact ordering it out of him, but I don’t see it that way. She knows she fucked up, and she wants to make it right. The following conversation re-enforces the fact they’re family. Jon even says ‘ If I don't watch over you, Father's ghost will come back and murder me’ (I’d pay good money to see Ned come back and give Jon a bollocking actually). Sansa brings up Winterfell, enforces it’s THEIR home and it’s for their family. She wants the Boltons out, but Jon came back from the dead 10 minutes ago and has Had Enough Of This Shit And Is Very Tired. Sansa lets it go temporarily.
Throughout the ep, and into the next, the idea is enforced that Jon and Sansa are brother and sister, and that Jon is Ned's son. Sure, currently that's kinda funny considering he isn't by blood, but the sentiment is true; Jon is every inch Ned's boy, and Sansa clearly feels safe with him, she even says so to Brienne:
Sansa : Jon isn't Davos, the Red Woman or Stannis for that matter.Jon is Jon.He's my brother. He'll keep me safe. I trust him.
Here is a thing I think a lot of people are missing. Yes, Sansa trusts Jon. She says it herself. But why, as Brienne countered, did she not tell Jon about the Knights of the Vale? Why did she outright counter Jon publicly? Why not wait?
The thing is, Jon is Ned's son. AND NED STARK IS FUCKING SHIT AT KEEPING SECRETS. Ned Stark is honourable to a FAULT, it's what got him Mcfreakin' killed. Jon is the Starkiest Stark that ever Starked, and Sansa KNOWS that letting him in on critical plans is a bad fucking idea. She's already learned from Pety 'I would honestly tongue a cat's asshole for fun' Baelish that one never shows all one's cards. But sharing a card with someone as upright and see-through as Jon? Might as well cut your own throat and be done with it.
Why publicly confront him? I never believed for a second that Sansa was displeased at Jon's sudden elevation to King in the North. When it was announced, he was stunned, and to me it looked like he was looking to Sansa to see if a) it was real, and b) wtf Sansa what do I do.
He's been suddenly promoted before, but the Night's Watch was different, and perhaps he's having flashbacks as to how THAT went. Hell, everyone was pissed before Lyanna Mormont straightened her big girl knickers and said 'Listen up you lil shits Jon is good King Jon 303AC 4lyf'. This is all good for Sansa. She has Winterfell back, Ramsey Bolton is more than dead, Jon has the support of the Northern lords firmly when they told them to eat a dick not too long ago. Everything feels great. Plus, in the North, she doesn’t have to deal with backstabbing political shit.
And then she remembers Littlefinger is there.
Oh fuckbastards.
What to do? While it looks like Littlefinger is getting to her, it’s VERY important to note that, despite being King In Da Norf, Jon is still as humble as ever. Before that, when Winterfell was first reclaimed, Jon noted that Ned and Cat’s room was prepared for Sansa.
Jon : I’m having the lord’s chamber prepared for you. Sansa : Mother and Father’s room? You should take it. Jon : I’m not a Stark. Sansa : You are to me.
Damn right he is, Sansa. Jon mentions they need to trust each other more and kisses her forehead. I think this, after the conversation about Littlefinger, really planted it in Sansa’s mind she’s got to protect Jon from this bastard. Jon can fight the physical and commend men no problem, but psychological shit he has issues with. Hell, Sansa told him outright not to fall for Ramsey’s shit in BOTB and he did anyway. There’s a gulf in Sansa’s Southern-trained psychological way of things and Jon’s straightforward hit-it-until-it-stops Northern mind. Both have had their ways beaten into them, so they can’t unlearn, but also can’t see the other’s view.
Okay okay okay. where is Auntie LK going with this? From what I see, Sansa was publicly denouncing Jon’s plans BUT doing so to keep him safe. The plan to give the Last Hearth and Karhold to loyal Lords? That’s a Southern tactic AND good sense. HOWEVER ... in this instance, Jon was right. The important think to note that both holds HAVE a new Lord and Lady waiting for them. And they are children.
These babs!
If anyone knows about a child having to bear the supposed sins of their parents, it’s Jon. He felt the weight of Ned’s supposed infidelity, even if it was absolutely no fault of their own. These children are terrified, Alys visibly swallows and tries to breathe properly. Hell, it’s scary when Sansa was all for taking their homes and Jon mentioned executing people, they probably worried they were next. However, Jon simply asks for allegiance. And that was a wise call; the idea of redistributing at first got a high then got a mixed to low response, given the chatter in the room and Davos looking down.
Don't for a second think I'm shitting on Sansa. From her point of view, this absolutely makes sense; if people stab you in the back, GITFO bitch. But that Southern way of thinking just will not work as well in the more traditional North. In this instance, Jon was in the right, and it's understandable how he is frustrated with Sansa openly challenging him. I think Sansa was trying to shore up any potential future betrayal, and simply didn't make the right calculation. She looks at Littlefinger in this scene, who likes the argument.
In this instance, Jon is right. These are children, and he rules like a good King; with a firm but gentle hand. He makes these kids feel like important grown-ups, spares them, and gives them this sense of awe and majesty. If Daenerys rules with terror and awe with her dragons, and a kind heart for the underdog, Jon wants to rule with practical kindness. They thought they were going to lose their homes, or even their heads, given that Sansa mentioned taking away their Holds and Jon mentioned executing people. Instead, King Jon asked for their word, and they gave it.
Look at what happens after; Jon tells Sansa to stop openly undermining him, Sansa points out that she should give advice and compliments his leadership skills. She tries to get him to see she has advice worth listening to, and he is clearly frustrated and tries to walk away, but she will not let him. To the point of GRABBING him.
She will not let Jon walk away from this. He tries to walk, but she physically makes him stop, and emphasises what she is trying to get through to him:
Sansa : You have to be smarter than Father. You need to be smarter than Robb. I loved them, I miss them, but they made stupid mistakes, and they both lost their heads for it.
To me, this clearly says one thing; Jon, for the love of fucking Old Gods and New Improved Ones, I am trying to keep you safe. She can’t outright say ‘Littlefinger wants to park his thirsty asshole on the Iron Throne and wants me on his lap because I remind him of my mother and he is willing to slaughter you like a sheep to get it’, Jon can’t be trusted with that sort of info. She wants to publicly make it look like she’s plotting against Jon in Littlefinger’s eyes ... but at the same time, make sure that her public outbursts aren’t ACTUALLY damaging her relationship with him. He is too precious. She needs him, and his abilities, but also needs to string Littlefinger along to ensure he doesn’t do something without sharing it with her first. She was dead set against Jon going South. That’s where Cersei can get her mitts on him, that’s walking into the mouth of the dragon and hoping it doesn’t eat him. The only positive for this was suddenly getting Bran and Arya back; she outright hugs Bran, her little brother who was in a coma when she left Winterfell, and even Arya gets a hug despite the pair being the most antagonistic towards each other.
Now. Arya and Sansa had issues. They had issues before Littlefinger littlefingered all over the place. Arya, despite her Southern training, is pretty much a hardcore Northerner, and seeing Sansa’s betrayal letters would have set her off and Littlefinger was banking on that. But when you have a family that TALKS, that has a legit psychic on staff to divine the truth (and Arya literally heard Bran recite the truth), that plan falls up the asshole. Did Sansa truly plan to ever murder Arya, and vice-versa? Honestly, who hasn’t entertained thoughts of murdering their annoying sibling, especially if one thinks the other has fallen to the Dark Side. However, Sansa and in a way Arya’s arcs have been about family. Only family can be trusted. Family will be there when you need them. Family will keep their word and protect you. For Sansa, this is in Stark (heh) contrast to the Lannisters and Baratheons, whom she was so eager to join as true Lords and Ladies. The Lannisters are at each other’s throats when not fucking each other, and the Baratheons tore themselves apart with infighting and backstabbing (and vagina shadowmonsters). The Starks bicker, but they have each other.
If Sansa wanted Jon dead or out of the picture, she wouldn’t have gone to the trouble of making him a cloak that is very similar to Ned Starks’ own. The man she literally saw beheaded in front of her.
Sansa : I made it like the one Father used to wear. As near as I can remember.
Sansa near panics when Jon decides to ride for Dragonstone, she keeps glancing to her right, either in Littlefinger’s direction or directly at him. All the Lords don’t want Jon to go, even his most hardcore supporter Lady Mormont, and Sansa is dead against it. Even when Jon names her Wardeness of the North in his absence, she is still wearing a face of panic.
Me? In charge? Oh. Uh.
Does Sansa enjoy being in power? Who doesn’t. Do I anticipate trouble when Jon returns? If he returned himself, I think the transition would have been smooth. Jon will be impressed by how well Sansa is preparing the north, and she will pretty much still be Wardeness while he is King; think of Sansa as the Prime Minister that gets shit done while Jon is the figurehead and commands the armies and does power deals. The addition of Daenerys is a biiiiiiig complication, especially with Jon boatsexin’ her all the way.
Which brings us to the hug. While I do believe Sansa is relieved to see him back alive, the arrival of Dany is a complication and now she has someone she needs to suss out and see if this person is a threat to her or the newly reunited Starks.
Do I think a Starkbowl is coming? Hell to the fucking no. The ENTIRE POINT of Sansa’s arc is that FAMILY CAN BE TRUSTED, FAMILY IS THERE TO PROTECT YOU. The biggest point for her is that Daenerys is not family. She’s Jon’s girlfriend for the moment, sure, but not family. She’s Essosi-minded, she’s not a Northerner for fucking sure. At this point, the issue will be the outing of Jon’s heritage.
But what does that really mean? Sure, Ned isn’t his blood father. But Ned raised him, he was raised with all the Starks as a sibling. Cunty Cat made him feel lesser, but everyone still treated him like a brother. Even Sansa. Everyone is zero’ing in on the father aspect, but A STARK IS HIS MOTHER. HE STILL HAS STARK HERITAGE. As Lady Mormont rightfully pointed out, ‘He has Ned Stark’s blood in his veins’. And he does; Ned and Lyanna are full-blooded siblings, and share the same wolf blood.
I hoep to hope, and I think it will happen, that Sansa will silently recalculate what the news will mean when others react, but as far as she and most certainly Bran and Arya are concerned, Jon is still their big brother. The big brother that said goodbye before Winterfell despite the coma, the brother that came to take back Winterfell despite the Bolton’s vile threats, the brother that choke-slammed a snake for wanting to bang them because they reminded them of their mother, the brother that rode out to save his little Rickon despite the odds, the brother that gifted them Needle, the brother that was willing to overlook past nastiness.
Jon Snow, the King in the North, the blood of Ned, the White Wolf ... he is their brother, and always will be. The gold/silver of Targaryen yielded to the coal of Stark, and Jon is the fucking Starkiest Stark that ever Starked.
Sansa is not going to backstab her brother. Fuck outta here with that shit.
LK out.

EVERY SINGLE DETAIL THAT PROVES JONSA IS ENDGAME!
OKAY SO HERE IT IS! Instead of focusing on University and schoolwork and basically all 1 000 000 more important things I need to do, I’ve written this collection of EVERY. SINGLE. REASON why Jonsa will happen in the books and/or show… or all of them I can remember at least! There are honestly so much! Brace yourselves, for it is long (and full of spoilers if you aren’t caught up in the books or show), but I have tried to organize it best I can, and promise you it will be worth the read!!!
Are your Jonsa shipping hearts ready? Okay! Here we go!
SECTION A - SO MANY NED AND CAT 2.0 PARALELLS!
Let me just start off by saying that of all the romantic couples ever to have been shown/talked about in ASOIAF and GOT, Ned and Cat have been shown to be the strongest, healthiest and as close to perfect as any married couple can get. Their love didn’t come in an instant crazy passion (which GRRM makes pretty clear that he thinks those kind of relationships are unrealistic or doomed from the start, as he shits on those kinds of pairings -Robb/Jeyne/Talisa; Rhaegar/Lyanna; Sansa/Joffrey; Tyrion/Tysha; etc.) Ned and Cat built their relationship stone by stone and they had the happiest of marriages in the series. Cat even calls Ned “The rock I built my life upon” … I mean that’s just beautiful.
Okay! That being established, there is just soooo much evidence in the show and books that points to Jon and Sansa being set up as Ned/Cat 2.0 and thus, foreshadowing that they will end up together…. And here it is:
1)-Parallels in the way they look (Books and Show)
Jon is the Stark child that looks most like Ned (Ned 2.0) – even more than Ned’s trueborn children, while
Sansa is the Stark child that looks the most like Cat (Cat 2.0) - this has been emphasized A LOT in the books and show, I don’t really think I need to get into the details because it’s been stated soooo many times and it’s pretty obvious.
But I will note that even the costumes and hair choices made for both Jon and Sansa in the show are definitely made to parallel Ned and Cat. Take a look:
**BONUS: Michelle Clampton said in an interview that Sansa’s costumes have a pattern that is almost fishlike, referencing her mother and her Tully blood (Cat 2.0).
Also, when Sansa gave Jon his cloak, she made it specifically to look like the one their father wore (Ned 2.0).
2)- Parallels in the way they act (Books and Show)
Jon/Ned parallels : Honor is very important to Jon, just as it was to Ned, and Jon often channels Ned when making decisions in the story: EXAMPLE: Jon Snow executes Janos Slynt in the same way Ned Stark executed the deserter from the Night’s Watch
And can we just take a moment to appreciate this…
I saw this on google, so I don’t know the original poster, can someone tell me if they know whom the gif set belonged to?
Sansa/Catelyn parallels:
Sansa often channels her mother to give her strength when she needs to be strong in the story. EX: Sansa says in the books “I must be as strong as my Lady mother”
I also want to point out that Sansa resembles Cat so much, in personality as well as looks, that Creepyfinger projected his obsession with Cat onto Sansa… and even went so far as to murder a King out of obsession for her.
3)-Both Ned/Cat and Jon/Sansa built their relationship stone by stone (Show)
Like Ned and Cat, Jon and Sansa have been building their relationship stone by stone ever since they reunited. Jon and Sansa had the most estranged relationship out of all the Stark “siblings” and now, they have become the closest. This all happened stone by stone.
It started out with little things- like Sansa gifting Jon with a Stark cloak she made- and then developed into the both of them being able to place huge amounts of trust in each other - i.e Jon entrusting Sansa to rule the North for him.
4)- Jon/Sansa scenes are shot in the same way as Ned/Cat scenes (Show)
Just look at this! In FOUR instances, THREE being separate instances over the span of two episodes in the most recent season, Jon and Sansa scenes were shot EXACTLY the way Ned and Catelyn scenes were shot. Same camera angles and everything! There is no way in hell this is a coincidence. This is deliberate!
THE SHOWRUNNERS ARE DELIBERATELY PARALELLING JON/SANSA AS NED/CAT 2.0! …But okay… if you need more proof that Jonsa will be endgame, wait right there honey because I gots a hell of a lot more up my sleeve! Let’s continue, shall we?
SECTION B - FORSHADOWING OF JON AND SANSA REBUILDING WINTERFELL/THE NORTH TOGETHER (BOOKS AND SHOW)
1-) Foreshadowing of Jon and Sansa being an excellent team as King and Queen (of the North)
When discussing battle strategy with Stannis, (in the show and especially the books) Jon shows impeccable knowledge about the North- its houses, its people, its strength and weaknesses… basically everything that a good Warden/King of the North should know. Why show this is such detail if it isn’t going to be useful/foreshadow something further down the line – as in him using that knowledge to defend the North when he rules it?
Sansa has learned from the very best in The Game – (Littlefinger, Margery, Cersei) and has proven to be very politically savvy in both the show and the books. Again, why bother giving her character these skills if she isn’t going to use them?
With Jon being the military man and Sansa being the political mastermind, they are both foreshadowed in the books to be the other half each other needs to rule well.
This is then PROVEN in the show
The show has shown Jon and Sansa to be a very good team as King in the North and Lady of Winterfell. Jon is a great military man, and is working hard to defend the North. Sansa is very politically savvy and great at managing domestic responsibilities as well (ex: food stores, clothing and armor). They work well together…almost as if they were a married couple?
Why show them as being a very efficient team to such detail unless to set them up to be King and Queen together in the end?
...SEE even Sophie Turner ships it! (anyone know the original maker of this gif set, for credit purposes?)
2-) Both Jon and Sansa dream of recreating the Winterfell of their childhood and putting their family back together (Books).
Jon’s Dream:
“I would need to steal her if I wanted her love, but she might give me children. I might someday hold a son of my own blood in my arms. A son was something Jon Snow had never dared dream of, since he decided to live his life on the Wall. I could name him Robb. Val would want to keep her sister’s son, but we could foster him at Winterfell, and Gilly’s boy as well. Sam would never need to tell his lie. We’d find a place for Gilly too, and Sam could come visit her once a year or so. Mance’s son and Craster’s would grow up brothers, as I once did with Robb. He wanted it, Jon knew then. He wanted it as much as he had ever wanted anything”
- Jon dreams of having a son named Robb, taking his father’s place in the family (and also raising Mance’s and Craters’s son in the way Ned raised Robb and Jon).
Sansa’s Dream:
“If I give him sons, he may come to love me. She would name them Edward and Brandon and Rickon […] In Sansa’s dreams, he children looked just like the brothers she had lost. Sometimes there was even a girl who looked like Arya”
-Sansa dreams of having sons named Bran and Rickon and a daughter like Arya, taking her mother’s place in the family.
-
Notice that Jon and Sansa’s fantasies complete each other – or complete the Stark family when put together. The only person who is missing from their fantasies are themselves and each other.
And while their fantasies are with other people (Val and Willas) they do not feature their significant other in their fantasy much… they fantasize about those people as being filler roles for the mother/father of their children in their hypothetical family. They are not important to fulfilling the fantasy at all.
And truly, Jon and Sansa are the only ones who knew what each other’s childhood in Winterfell were like, and they are the only two people in the whole series who share this dream. Thus, they are the only ones who can realistically bring the other’s fantasy to life. Them sharing this particular dream foreshadows that they are each other’s perfect partner/soulmate. Together they will make their dreams a reality.
3)- Sansa literally rebuilt Winterfell out of SNOW (Books and show)
In case you didn’t get that… SANSA REBUILT WINTERFELL OUT OF SNOW (A.K.A JON)
**BONUS: In the books, while building the castle Sansa “could feel the SNOW on her lashes, she could taste the SNOW on her lips. It was the taste of Winterfell. The taste of innocence. The taste of dreams (a reference to the dream she and Jon share of raising a family in Winterfell?) […] Drifting snowflakes brushed her face AS LIGHT AS A LOVER’S KISS”
There is also more text in the beginning of the chapter linking Jon with this scene:
“The snow drifted down and down, all in ghostly silence, and lay thick and unbroken on the ground. All color had fled the world outside. It was a place of whites and blacks and greys. White towers and white snow and white statues, black shadows and black trees, the dark grey sky above. A pure world, Sansa thought. I do not belong here. Yet she stepped out all the same. Her boots tore ankle-deep holes into the smooth white surface of the snow, yet made no sound”
This passage strangely reminds me of Ghost, Jon’s direwolf. I mean “ghostly silence” and Sansa not making a sound when walking in snow…Ghost is said to make no sound when he walks (which is why Jon gave him that name) just like Sansa in this quote. Also, Sansa sees the world around her in “whites blacks and greys”, almost as if she’s colour blind… colorblind like a direwolf.
**BONUS 2: Jon literally dreams about rebuilding Winterfell in the books: “Winterfell, he thought, Theon left it burned and broken, but I could restore it. Surely his father would have wanted that, and Robb as well. They would never have wanted the castle left in ruins”
Alright with all that said and done, now I’ll just finish this section right here with this little gem of a quote of Sansa’s while she was Alayne Stone:
“Stone and Snow, that was all that was left of Winterfell. Just like she and Jon”
SECTION C: JON BEING SANSA’S ONLY HERO (BOOKS)
1)-Jon as Prince Aemon the Dragon Knight
Okay, so to begin, I would like to draw everyone’s attention to this passage in the books about Jon and Robb:
“Every morning they had trained together, since they were big enough to walk; Snow and Stark, spinning and slashing about the wards of Winterfell, shouting and laughing, sometimes crying when there was no one else to see. They were not little boys when they fought, but knights and mighty heroes.
“I’m Prince Aemon the Dragonknight,” Jon would call out, and Robb would shout back, “Well, I’m Florian the Fool.” Or Robb would say, “I’m the Young Dragon,” and Jon would reply, “I’m Ser Ryam Redwyne. That morning he called it first. "I'm Lord of Winterfell!" he cried, as he had a hundred times before."
This particular passage foreshadows Robb’s fate.
His first hero, Florian the fool, was indeed a fool and died because of his love for Jonquil. In that respect, Robb was also a fool and chose love/a woman over his duty, and he also died because of it.
Robb also parallels his second hero the Young dragon. Read this conversation between Jon and Benjen:
"Daeron Targaryen was only fourteen when he conquered Dorne," Jon said. The Young Dragon was one of his heroes.
"A conquest that lasted a summer," his uncle pointed out. "Your Boy King lost ten thousand men taking the place, and another fifty trying to hold it. Someone should have told him that war isn't a game." He took another sip of wine. "Also," he said, wiping his mouth, "Daeron Targaryen was only eighteen when he died. Or have you forgotten that part?"
Both Robb and the Young Dragon were very young when they began playing at war, and both were very good at it – I will remind everyone that Robb was an excellent battle commander who won every battle he fought. He also died very young, just like the Young Dragon.
So, if this passage accurately foreshadowed Robb’s fate, we can assume it will accurately foreshadow Jon’s fate as well.
Jon will become - narratively speaking - Aemon the Dragonknight. Prince Aemon has been referred to as the noblest knight who ever lived, (by Arianne Martell explicitely and the majority of people in Westeros) and we all know how much Sansa wants a true and noble knight!
What is more, is that Prince Aemon was famously in love with Naerys –HIS SISTER.
Prince Aemon once won a tourney after his brother Aegon had forbidden him to take part, because Aegon wanted to crown his mistress of that time as the queen of love and beauty instead of Naerys. Disguised as the Knight of Tears, Aemon won the tournament and named Naerys Targaryen as queen of love and beauty in place of the mistress.
The love between Aemon and Naerys makes for arguably the most famous of love stories in all of the seven kingdoms.
Thus, as foreshadowing goes, Jon being Aemon the Dragonknight will have a romantic relationship with his sister (or sister turned cousin) Sansa.
Adding to this, in Sansa’s chapters, Prince Aemon comes up very often:
“Father, I only just now remembered, I can’t go away, I’m to marry Prince Joffrey.” She tried to smile bravely for him. “I love him, Father, I truly truly do, I love him as much as Queen Naerys loved Prince Aemon the Dragonknight” –Sansa to Ned
“Sweet one,” her father said gently, “listen to me. When you’re old enough, I will make you a match with a high lord who’s worthy of you, someone brave and gentle and strong. This match with Joffrey was a terrible mistake. That boy is no Prince Aemon, you must believe me.” – Ned to Sansa
“There are gods, she told herself, and there are true knights too. All the stories can’t be lies. […] She shouted for Ser Dontos, for her brothers, for her dead father and her dead wolf, for gallant Ser Loras who had given her a red rose once, but none of them came. She called for the heroes from the songs, for Florian and Ser Ryam Redwyne and Prince Aemon the Dragonknight, but no one heard” – Sansa’s thoughts. In this quote we see all 3 knights Florian, Ser Ryam Redwyne and Prince Aemon the Dragonknight come up again.
“True knights.” The queen seemed to find that wonderfully amusing. “No doubt you’re right. So why don’t you just eat your broth like a good girl and wait for Symeon Star-Eyes and Prince Aemon the Dragonknight to come rescue you, sweetling. I’m sure it won’t be very long now.” – Cersei to Sansa
Original poster of this theory was @butterflies-dragons I suggest you read the whole post linked here because it’s amazing and full of other foreshadowing moments! : https://butterflies-dragons.tumblr.com/post/162797291864/sansa-stark-a-wolf-with-dragon-wings-i-an
2)- Jon as Syemon Star-Eyes
Symeon Star-Eyes is a legendary figure from the Age of Heroes who was blind. He is described in tales as a knight even though chivalry came to Westeros thousands of years. He is also a knight associated with Jon who shows up reputedly in Sansa’s chapters.
Here is Jon being associated with Syemon Star-Eyes for the first time:
“There was a knight once who couldn’t see,” Bran said stubbornly, as Ser Rodrik went on below. “Old Nan told me about him. He had a long staff with blades at both ends and he could spin it in his hands and chop two men at once.”
“Symeon Star-Eyes,” Luwin said as he marked numbers in a book. “When he lost his eyes, he put star sapphires in the empty sockets, or so the singers claim. Bran, that is only a story, like the tales of Florian the Fool. A fable from the Age of Heroes.” The maester tsked. “You must put these dreams aside, they will only break your heart.”
The mention of dreams reminded him. “I dreamed about the crow again last night. The one with three eyes. He flew into my bedchamber and told me to come with him, so I did. We went down to the crypts. Father was there, and we talked. He was sad.”
“And why was that?” Luwin peered through his tube.
“It was something to do about Jon, I think” –Bran to Maester Lewin
...
“Those old histories are full of kings who reigned for hundreds of years, and knights riding around a thousand years before there were knights. You know the tales, Brandon the Builder, Symeon Star-Eyes, Night’s King … we say that you’re the nine-hundred-and-ninety-eighth Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, but the oldest list I’ve found shows six hundred seventy-four commanders, which suggests that it was written during—”
“Long ago,” Jon broke in. “What about the Others?”
This is a conversation between Jon AND Sam (the only chapter that overlaps across ADWD and AFFC).
...
“Not every man has it in him to be Prince Aemon the Dragonknight or Symeon Star-Eyes”
- Manderly to Davos. Jon isn’t mentioned in this passage, but I found it interesting how Symeon Star-Eyes is again associated with Prince Aemon the Dragonknight.
Some people think these parallels means Jon will be blind, but I think its a Jonsa foreshadowing.
3)-Execution of Janos Slynt
This is a CONCRETE EXAMPLE of Jon becoming Sansa’s actual hero! Take a look!
“Frog-faced Lord Slynt sat at the end of the council table wearing a black velvet doublet and a shiny cloth-of-gold cape, nodding with approval every time the king pronounced a sentence. Sansa stared hard at his ugly face, remembering how he had thrown down her father for Ser Ilyn to behead, wishing she could hurt him, wishing that some hero would throw him down and cut off his head. But a voice inside her whispered, There are no heroes,”
-Sansa’s thoughts in AGOT.
Then, in ADWD Jon acted as Sansa’s hero and literally cuts off his head:
Emmett kicked his legs out from under him. Dolorous Edd planted a foot on his back to keep him on his knees as Emmett shoved the block beneath his head. “This will go easier if you stay still,” Jon Snow promised him. “Move to avoid the cut, and you will still die, but your dying will be uglier. Stretch out your neck, my lord.” The pale morning sunlight ran up and down his blade as Jon clasped the hilt of the bastard sword with both hands and raised it high. “If you have any last words, now is the time to speak them,” he said, expecting one last curse.
Janos Slynt twisted his neck around to stare up at him. “Please, my lord. Mercy. I’ll … I’ll go, I will, I …”
No, thought Jon. You closed that door. Longclaw descended.

4)-Jon refuses to take Sansa’s claim to the North away from her
Marriage/betrothals are a very important part of Sansa’s character arcs and storylines. She is the key to the North and a very valuable political pawn. Everyone wants to use her for her claim, and not one of her suitors came to love her for who she actually is. She comes to this realization in the books, and it totally breaks her heart.
“No one will ever marry me for love. It's my claim they want” –Sansa’s thoughts
However, in ADWD Jon says:
1- "By right, Winterfell should go to my sister Sansa." –Jon to Stannis in his first chapter. "Lady Lannister, you mean? Are you so eager to see the Imp perched on your father's seat? I promise you, that will not happen whilst I live, Lord Snow."
2- "Winterfell belongs to my sister Sansa." –Jon tells Stannis this AGAIN in another chapter later on. "I have heard all I need to hear of Lady Lannister and her claim." The king set the cup aside. "You could bring the north to me. Your father's bannermen would rally to the son of Eddard Stark
Jon is the only one who does not lust for Sansa’s claim on the North. When he is offered it, he refuses it and states TWICE that Winterfell and the North belong to Sansa and Sansa alone , despite the fact she married Tyrion– thus, being the only person who cares about Sansa more than her powerful political position and also foreshadowing that Jon will be the one to marry Sansa for love and not her claim on the North.
I don’t think it can get any more obvious without being too obvious that Jon is Sansa’s perfect hero, and that they will end up together at some point. #jonsaisendgame
But if you still aren't convinced that Jonsa will happen, don’t look away just yet! I still have many a more proofs to provide you with!
SECTION D: HISTORY (BOOKS AND SHOW)
Alright, so I suggest you guys go get some coffee because this section will get a little long. But I have made charts and put pictures to make it easier to follow… Basically I will explain why Jonsa is endgame based on history!
Here we go! So GRRM based his series on the War of the Roses that took place in England in the 15th century, and many of his characters parallel the key players during that war. Specifically, Jon Snow/Targaryen parallels Henry Tudor and Sansa Stark parallels Elizabeth of York – and these characters ended up MARRIED as King and Queen of England at the end of the war. So according to history, that means Jon and Sansa will be married as King and Queen at the end of the series too!
Want proof Jon is Henry and Sansa is Elizabeth? I gotchu! Here we go:
** Little reminder before we start: GRRM confirmed that the Yorks of England are represented by the Starks in ASOIAF, (and the Lancasters of England are represented by the Lannisters).
...Need I say more?
And because I’m lazy, I’m reposting this post of mine I made a while ago comparing Sansa to Elizabeth of York, it’s not as detailed as the Jon/Henry chart, but this is the gist of the parallels between Sansa and Elizabeth:
Here is the link to my original post about EoY if you want to see the gifs in better quality : https://sweetsummersansa.tumblr.com/post/164786372376/elizabeth-of-york-sansa-stark
Now for all historians who want to argue about who Richard III actually is in the series (I say LF but some say Tyrion) if you see Richard III as a Littlefinger- which I think is more fitting- then this last point, as all pints about Richard II, applies as illustrated by the images above.
But I also want to note that for those people who see Richard the III as Tyrion, this last point still fits because Sansa married Tyrion- so still a strange romantic relationship. And we can also argue that Sansa lived as a bastard because of Tyrion – since she posed as a bastard in hiding because she was wanted by the crown after Tyrion was charged with Joffrey’s murder- and she was Tyrion’s wife. We can also argue that Tyrion did have something to do with the downfall of the Stark family, (as pictured in point n.4) because Tyrion was captured by Cat, which set into motion the events leading to the War of the Five Kings.
Anyways… regardless of who you think Richard III is, one thing is perfectly clear: SANSA STARK IS ELIZABETH OF YORK! Meaning she will end up with Henry Tudor/Jon in the end!
***Also wanted to add:
-Both Sansa and Elizabeth are described as having red hair and being fair of face
-Both are/were a valuable political pawn: Sansa = Key to the North, used by people to gain access to the North by marriage. While Elizabeth = used to solidify the King Henry’s claim to the throne through marriage
-In this video, in which historians and GRRM talk about the war of the roses, Sansa is also compared to Elizabeth of York https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOyUy5teWp. (Feel free to message me if the Sansa/Elizabeth parallels are unclear!)
**BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL: Despite marrying initially for purely political reasons, Henry and Elizabeth are known for having one of the most successful and loving marriages/relationships of the English monarchy – and they built this loving relationship STONE BY STONE!
Last thing! Take a look at the Tudor coat of arms:
ITS A DRAGON AND A DOG/WOLF STANDING BESIDE EACHOTHER (WITH A LION ON TOP). THE SEVEN KINGDOMS WILL SEE A DRAGON (JON TARGARYEN) AND A WOLF (SANSA STARK) RULE SIDE BY SIDE!!!! (maybe with a lion as hand of the King) #GETHYPEDJONSAFAM
Credit to @kitten1618x: I drew inspiration from this post linked below, especially for the Henry Tudor parallels and the Tudor flag/coat of arms bit. Her post is great, I really suggest you read it she did amazing research! : http://kitten1618x.tumblr.com/search/henry%20tudor
Okay! Whew! I know that was a longer section but hopefully everyone is still with me!
And now, for my next act in the Jonsa-Is-Endgame show, I will be discussing one of my favorite theories/pieces of proof that Jon and Sansa will be together by the end of ASOIAF: LET’S GO
SECTION E: ASHFORD TOURNEY (BOOKS)
This is one of the more popular theories that predict Jonsa being endgame. The Ashford Tourney theory is something found in the first Dunk and Egg novella, "The Hedge Knight." written by GRRM. Basically, it gives reason to believe that Sansa will end up with a Targaryen – and since Fake Aegon hasn’t been important enough to include in the show, we can safely assume that Targaryen will be JON!
In the Hedge Knight, Dunk and Egg go to a tourney held at Ashford to celebrate Lord Ashford's daughter's 13th name-day. The tourney at Ashford Meadow was a tourney hosted by House Ashford at Ashford Meadow in 209 AC. Lord Ashford staged the tourney to celebrate his daughter's thirteenth name day. His daughter was the queen of love and beauty and would have five champions to defend her honour.
The final five champions in the Tourney were:
⁃ Lyonel Baratheon
⁃ Leo Tyrell
⁃ Tybolt Lannister
⁃ Humfrey Hardyng
⁃ Prince Valarr Targaryen (a Targaryen with dark/brown hair)
These oddly correspond with all the men Sansa was betrothed/married to in ASOIAF.
⁃ Sansa’s first betrothed to Joffrey Baratheon
⁃ Sansa’s then planned to be wed to Willas/Loras Tyrell
⁃ Sansa’s married to Tyrion Lannister
- Sansa’s now being betrothed to Harry Hardyng (in the books)
So if logic follows… Sansa now has to be betrothed/married to a dark haired Targaryen… a.k.a Jon Targaryen!
…C’mon, this is too crazy a coincidence not to be a foreshadowing of some sorts! Especially with a Harding in the mix- since it is not a very prominent house. And Especially considering how important marriage/betrothals have been to Sansa’s storyline and character arc.
Here is the link to the original reddit thread first discussing this theory: http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.reddit.com%2Fr%2Fasoiaf%2Fcomments%2F1vsuxb%2Fspoilers_all_the_tourney_at_ashford_and_sansas%2F&t=OWVmMTQ1ZGZhZDQ4ZWQzNzEwNjE1YmNiZWRlZTlhNTEwNTQyMjRiNyxreWRjaFJnNw%3D%3D&b=t%3A1mugv0k5s0amNKww0gMA7g&p=https%3A%2F%2Fmarydri.tumblr.com%2Fpost%2F162256888280%2Fthe-secret-betrothal&m=1
And I’m pretty sure AltShiftX made a video about it on Youtube for those who would rather watch than read!
Is all good Jonsa shipmates? Good! Let’s continue!
SECTION F : JON’S DEATH (BOOKS)
1)-Sansa feels Jon’s death:
In Sansa’s final chapter in AFFC which matches up with Jon’s final chapter in ADWD as far as timing goes (because the two were meant to be one giant book) Sansa heard Jon dying:
“There was ice underfoot, and broken stones just waiting to turn an ankle, and the wind was howling fiercely. It sounds like a wolf, thought Sansa. A ghost wolf, as big as mountains”.
***Freindly reminder that Jon’s direwolf is named GHOST and that Ghost howled for Jon after he died like Grey Wind howled for Robb.
2)-Jon associates Sansa with his romantic love as he died:
Right before he died, Jon thought of Sansa and connected her to the one women he ever truly loved (Ygritte):
“He thought of Sansa brushing Lady’s coat, singing to herself. You know nothing Jon Snow”
ALSO: Jon likes redheads!
**BONUS: In ADWD, Jon chose Ygritte (his red-haired love) over Val (a beautiful woman with silver hair he may have been infatuated with)
“Would I sooner be hanged for a turncloak by Lord Janos, or forswear my vows, marry Val, and become the Lord of Winterfell? It seemed an easy choice when he thought of it in those terms… though if Ygritte had still been alive, it might have been even easier. Val was a stranger to him. She was not hard on the eyes, certainly, and she had been sister to Mance Rayder’s queen, but still …”
SECTION G: FORSHADOWING IN COSTUMES (SHOW)
1)-Sansa’s hair
I actually screamed internally when I saw Lyanna’s hair when she wed Rhaegar! At first first I was sooo mad (like livid) that she wasn't wearing a crown of blue winter roses and just had a typical hairstyle just like Sansa’s... then I realized, she could have been wearing a crown of blue winter roses but they decided to have her hair be Just.Like.Sansa’s.
^^THIS is Lyanna Stark’s hairstyle when she married Rhaegar Targaryen
^^THIS is Sansa Stark’s hairstyle for Season 7.
I mean Wow! It really seems that the showrunners wanted us to see parallels between the two Stark girls, especially in the scene where we find out Jon is a Targaryen and where a Stark Lady married a Targaryen! I mean this show is truly all about the details, and they could of had Lyanna wear a crown of blue winter roses- which would have been more obvious/appropriate for her character, but instead, they made her have the EXACT hair Sansa had all season (despite fashion/hair trends most likely being different at the time she married Rhaegar). History will repeat itself! A Stark Lady and a Targaryen King will fall in love! The episode was called the Dragon and the Dragon Wolf for crying out loud!
2)- Sansa’s wardrobe
Just like Sansa and Lyanna had similar exactly the same hairstyle, they also had similar wedding dresses:
Both Lyanna’s and Sansa’s wedding dresses had the same light/pastel colour palette and the same type of belt that wrapped around the bodice.
Sansa is also dressing like Jon. She has emulated her wardrobe/hair after the people she admired in the past (Cersei, Margarey). Now that she loves Jon, she is emulating him in her choice of clothing (along with his mother).
Jon and both even wear the little Stark direwolf heads on their clothes... but Sansa stops wearing that after Jon leaves... she stops wearing the pin with the direwolf couple because its no longer a fitting representation of her since Jon (her other wolf partner) has left her alone.
Credit to : @jonsalways for the Lyanna/Sansa costume parallels and the “wolf bit” -see what I did there?! She does amazing costume analysis's! go follow her! I mean how do you even notice something as small as Sansa not wearing the stark pin after episode 2! Wow! https://jonsalways.tumblr.com/post/164964237964/sansalyanna-parallel-in-costumes
**BONUS: This is a quote from an article analyzing the meaning of the GOT Season 7 costumes:
Like both queens, she is inspired by influential men with whom she frequently disagreed and that is reflected in her costume design. For Cersei, it was Tywin; for Dany, Viserys. In Sansa’s case, she’s dressing like Jon Snow.
Article: http://tomandlorenzo.com/2017/08/game-of-thrones-season-7-style-costume-analysis/
3)-Jon’s Wardrobe
I just want to point out that Jon is rarely seen without his cloak that Sansa made him. Oh and… cloaks in Westeros symbolize protection in marriage!!!
Like, seriously Jon! You’re in the capital, where it’s hot and sunny for crying out loud! It ain’t even snowing! what are you doing with that heavy ass cloak?!
...Whatevs! Keep wearing that cloak your wifey made you! I guess its cool... let’s just move on, shall we?
SECTION H : FORSHADOWING IN SONGS (BOOKS)
In this section, I will be discussing Jonsa foreshadowing in A Storm of Swords, specifically foreshadowing in the songs that are in Sansa and Jon’s chapters when their chapters are back to back.
So first, in Sansa’s chapter, Sansa is talking to Margarey and Olenna about Joffrey while listening to the song The Bear and the Maiden Fair – a song about a fair maiden falling for a man she’s not expected to fall for.
Lyrics here: http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/The_Bear_and_the_Maiden_Fair
Next is Jon’s chapter. This is when Jon is taken to Mance Raider’s tent by Ygritte, where he fools Mance into thinking he isn’t a crow anymore and successfully infiltrates the Wildlings. Yet when he walks in the tent, he hears someone singing The Dornishman’s Wife – a song about a man loving a woman so much that nothing – not even death – could be worse than not knowing her love.
HOWEVER – and this is the most curious thing- The Dornishman’s wife is later sung by Mance Raider in ADWD at Ramsay’s wedding to Jeyne/fake Arya (JEYNE IS CHANGED TO SANSA IN THE SHOW), only Mance changes the song from The Dornishman’s Wife to THE NORTHERNMAN’S DAUGHTER
“The singer changed the words, though. Instead of tasting a Dornishman’s wife, he sang of tasting a Northernman’s daughter” – this is from one of Theon/Reek’s chapters in ADWD
…We all know who the Northernman’s daughter is- SANSA!!!
Lyrics for the Dornishman’s Wife here: http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/The_Dornishman%27s_Wife
Also, to all those who find the Jon-being-Dany’s-third-treason theory/ undercover lover theory appealing (as I do), I will say this:
RIGHT AFTER these two chapters is Dany’s chapter, and in this chapter, she is very aware that a betrayal is coming her way and she thinks long and hard about the likelihood that someone coming to kill her soon:
“The Usurper on his Iron Throne had offered land and lordship to any man who killed her. One attempt had been made already, with a cup of poisoned wine. The closer she came to Westeros, the more likely another attack became”
Then, Jorah and Dany discuss the possibility of her being betrayed at length:
“The warlocks in Qarth told you that you would be betrayed three times,” the exile knight reminded her, as Viserion and Rhaegal began to snap and claw at each other. “Once for blood and once for gold and once for love.” Dany was not like to forget. “Mirri Maz Duur was the first.” “Which means two traitors yet remain . . . and now these two appear. I find that troubling, yes. Never forget, Robert offered a lordship to the man who slays you.”
I think a red herring is set up in these three chapters. In Sansa’s chapter, we are led to believe that the Hound is “the bear” that Sansa the fair maiden will end up with. In Jon’s chapter, we are led to believe that Ygritte is “the Dornishman’s wife”/ Jon’s true love. And in Dany’s chapter, she and Jorah talk of her betrayal, and we are led to believe that this foreshadows Jorah’s betrayal.
However, the fact that these three chapters being back to back, and GRRM being THE LEAST obvious writer on the planet, makes me think that what is actually being foreshadowed in these chapters is Sansa falling for Jon (someone whom she’s not expected to fall for)- who then also falls in love with her, and she is his one true love not the other red-haired girl (Ygritte)- and then finally, Jon will end up betraying Dany for his love of Sansa- being her final treason “for love”.
This is a MUCH subtler foreshadowing, exactly GRRM’s style – make you think you know one thing through red herring foreshadowing… but it actually turns out to be a completely other thing that was foreshadowed even more, just more subtly.
Credit to @natty86 Original post about these three chapters, and their foreshadowing is here: https://natty86.tumblr.com/search/Jon,%20Sansa%20and%20Dany.%20The%20betrayal%20for%20love..
SECTION I : ORINIGAL OUTLINE FOR ASOIAF
For those who haven’t read the original outline already, these are some quotes/plot points that GRRM had planned in his original outline:
"Arya will be more forgiving ... until she realizes, with terror, that she has fallen in love with Jon, who is not only her half-brother but a man of the Night's Watch, sworn to celibacy. Their passion will continue to torment Jon and Arya throughout the trilogy, until the secret of Jon's true parentage is finally revealed in the last book."
"Exiled, Tyrion will change sides, making common cause with the surviving Starks to bring his brother down, and falling helplessly in love with Arya Stark while he's at it. His passion is, alas, unreciprocated, but no less intense for that, and it will lead to a deadly rivalry between Tyrion and Jon Snow."
I won’t go too much into detail on this one… the outline should be taken lightly because a lot of things have changed from outlines to novels.
However, enough of the ideas in the outline have held base in the books, especially the most basic of plot points so I think it’s fair to assume that the whole “Jon will fall in love with his sister and be tormented by it until he finds out his true parentage” will stay the same. I mean, we already know Jon’s secret parentage was an idea that GRRM kept from the outline… and honestly what other reason could he have for the whole “secret parentage” that would be as important as making a forbidden/twisted love suddenly possible? It seems to me that one of the main reasons for the whole “secret parentage” trope was to create a more twisted and epic love story between Jon and his sister.
The sister has definitely changed from Arya to Sansa though… book Sansa is much closer to book Arya than book Arya is. And GRRM has been foreshadowing Jonsa a lot… hence this meta.
Also, take this with a mountain of salt, but Sansa was once married to Tyrion, so maybe the Jon-Tyrion-Sansa love triangle could happen?
Anyways! Moving forward! We’re almost dome but we still have more to discuss…such as:
SECTION J: JONSA SCENES BEING SHOT LIKE PRETTY MUCH EVERY OTHER ROMNTIC COUPLE ON THE SHOW... JONSA HAVING PARALLELLS WITH EVERY.OTHER.IMPORTANT.ROMANTIC.COUPLE.ON.THE.SHOW.
I won’t include Ned/Cat on this part, mainly because I already touched on this. But I will show parallels between Jon/Sansa and : Sam/Gilly; Robb/Talisa; Brienne/Jaimie. Although the Jonsa/Bramie gifsets are from a post of mine, I want to say right now, all credit to the Sam/Gilly and Robb/Talisa and Jon/Ygritte parallel gifsets goes to @baelerion, she/he made these AMAZING gifsets, I couldn’t make them any better myself. I give ALL credit to @baelerion. Amazing job! Go follow her/him!
SAM/GILLY AND JONSA:
ROBB/TALISA AND JONSA:
JON/YGRITTE AND JONSA:
BRIENNE/JAIME AND JONSA:
I mean.... this speaks for itself... If anyone has doubts or was wondering if Jonsa scenes were actually being shot in a romantic way, the answer is: YES!
SECTION K : OTHER
Okay Jonsa fam, we’ve reached the end of the meta! If you’re still here and reading this, I sincerely thank and applaud you for putting though with it’s extreme length... I had no idea it was going to get so long! Like holy cow, this is section K, this meta 11 sections long, with subsections! WOW! That just shows you how solid our Jonsa ship is.
But before I leave you for good, here are some more Jonsa endgame foreshadowing moments - in no particular order- that just wouldn’t fit in any of the other categories :)
...
1. Dany’s hair is styled like Sansa’s in only one scene- the scene where J and D actually have a tender moment, and grab eachother’s hands (similar to how Sansa grobbed Jon’s hands) and in the next episode they have sex… the costume department is very careful with the details when it comes to the girls’ hair, why would they make sure there is a ghost of Sansa in the most tender scene Dany and Jon share together, right before the episode in which they have sex? #Jonsaisendgame
Credit to @jonsalways: Original post noticing this is right here: https://jonsalways.tumblr.com/post/165044111469/theres-something-weird-about-dany-and-sansas -read it! its so much more detailed and amazing!
2. Jon noticing Sansa’s new dress, and stuttering like a nervous boy who has a crush on a pretty girl when he gives her a compliment..
..Hmmm ya sorry Jon, not brotherly AT ALL #Jonsaisendgame
3. Jon gave Sansa a lingereing very non-brothery forhead kiss, and then LOOKED AT HER LIPS!!
^^^IF YOU THINK THIS SCENE WAS PLATONIC YOU ARE LYING TO YOURSELF. This is the scene that cemented it in for me that there was definitely something non-siblings going on with Jon and Sansa tbh. #JONSAISENDGAME
4.Jon and Jorah spoke about Jon’s children in 7x06 AND THEN THE STARK THEME PLAYED AND IT CUT TO SANSA AT WINTERFELL!
^^^Um so ya, everybody, meet Sansa and Jon’s three future sons Robb Eddard and Rickon... #Jonsaisendgame
5. Jon looked back and Sansa when he left her but didn’t do the same for Dany.
And in the script, it read:
“Jon turns in his saddle, sees Sansa standing up there, raises his hand and flashes the smile that wins him the hearts of Icelandic models and Scottish baronesses."
– so a very puppy dog/ half flirty/I love you smile… ok so not the way a brother smiles at a sister…got it! #Jonsaisendgame
6. Aggressive angry kitten Jon threatening and strangleing the shit out of his competition due to jealous rage:
7. And who can forget about the OH SHIT looks from LF and Davos...
Even they know #Jonsaisendgame
8. The camera zoomed in every time Sasna touched Jon… they want us to notice the angst!!
Dem camera angles be screaming #JONSAISENDGAME
9. They had the most emotional reunion out of all the Starks, and have spent a lot of time together to grow close – a season and a half! That’s a lot in the GoT universe!
I wonder why? Oh right! Because #Jonsaisendgame
10. And finally... just the way he looks at her... I can’t even
Pictures don’t even do it justice... but i’m so tired from writing this meta I’ve grown to lazy to go get gifs at this point. And i’m 100% sure I forgot at least one thing I wanted to put in...
But regardless the message is clear #JONSAISENDGAME. Believe that! Because if you cant believe it after this much proof, I would be very very worried!
Ours is the endgame! It is known!

“I’m not drunk enough yet” for Jonsa. :D
Ahh awesome–thanks so much! Here’s a messy little Washington, D.C.-Jonsa fic for you, ~1,000 words.
Maybe it’s in his blood. Maybe being a predatory piece of shit was a terrible legacy he could not escape from.
It was easy for people to forget that the brooding quiet Jon Snow was the son of the former-Senator Rhaegar Targaryen. (But Jon couldn’t forget that ugly inheritance. And he wouldn’t repeat it.)
He should have stayed away from this town, shouldn’t have been so drawn to the call to public service. God, he was an idiot. Washington DC was a hellhole and it was going to destroy him.
He should have just done what his half-brother Aegon did and lived comfortably far away on the west coast where fewer knew the sordid tale.
(But he does secretly think he might be making a small difference, has to stay and at least try.)
But it wasn’t his father who inspired him to this work, it was his mother. A mother who he never met, but who he always felt drawn to.
He was told she was ambitious and lovely. And had been taken advantage of in he worst ways who claimed to have loved her.
His mother had been idealistic, bright-eyed, and at 18 thoroughly won over by a Senator. A married Senator who left her pregnant and alone.
Lyanna’s death during childbirth was a scandal that rocked through DC. It may have ended Senator Targaryen’s illustrious career and presidential aspirations, but it ended her life.
And it didn’t matter that Sansa Stark at 23 was only a couple years younger than him, that if they met at a bar it would be completely–almost absurdly—appropriate.
God, the last 6 months had been torture.
Even though he was basically just a glorified personal assistant to Senator Mormont, he was still her superior.
It didn’t matter that as a Stark she had more political connections than he could imagine in his wildest dreams. (Her father, before he died, had been the president’s chief-of-fucking-staff.)
Still, it didn’t matter. She was an intern, and he did not... dally with interns. It was completely inappropriate and creepy and Jon Snow would be a better man than that.
(And Sansa deserved better. She deserved the best.)
It didn’t matter that she was very pretty with big shining blue eyes and auburn hair that swung behind her and that she was so bright and that she made him feel happy even with her light teasing.
Or that she was whip smart and so incredibly witty it was annoying. (Just yesterday she said something ridiculously funny about the tax reform bill, and he just grunted in response. Literally grunted.)
He even liked her pretty pink blouses and tweed skirts and the stupid matcha green tea lattes she drank instead of coffee.
He didn’t even hate her when she tried—with no success—to get him to cut down on coffee.
And she was so fucking compassionate and caring. The other week when a frazzled constituent came to the office close to tears, everyone was too busy to help. But it was Sansa who sat with her for over two hours waiting—wrapped her arm around the woman and listened and listened and helped her look into possible solutions. Sansa stayed late to finish her other work, not at all bitter, just cheerfully singing something that sounded lovely softly under her breath.
Even at happy hours after work, she was a beaming ray of sunshine in a room of brooding jaded staffers.(God almost everyone in this town was a borderline functioning—some better than others–alcoholic.)
And she’s walking towards him as he’s alone after Sam left and god, she was so pretty.
And she’s standing closer to him than she ever has before. Leaning against the bar counter, smiling at him.
Her smile was so fucking bright that it made her eyes hurt.
“What a pleasant surprise to find you brooding here, Jon.”
“What do you want, Sansa?” he sighs.
“Now don’t be too obvious” she whispers conspiratorially. “But my ex is over there. The blonde dude making faces at the wine selection?”
Super blond and prissy looking–speaking authoritatively to the group around him but keeping his eye on Sansa.
Ugh, her ex was perfectly tailored with hair immaculately coifed. Was that her type? He looks down at his now rumpled shirt, messily rolled sleeves, and loosened sales-rack tie.
God, he never had a chance. If they met randomly in a bar, she probably wouldn’t even look at Jon.
He raises his eyebrows in question.
“I know, he’s the absolute worst. And he’s super conservative. Such an error in judgment right there,” she shudders. “Okay, so just pretend you’re super engaged. Super into me.”
“Huh?”
“That we’re like together. You know, just play cute.”
That’s not appropriate. Not in the slightest.
What is she trying to do to him? Is she trying to break him? He’s not strong enough for this.
“I’m not drunk enough yet,” he snaps.
She raises her brows, a slight frown.
“Would it be that hard to imagine, Jon Snow? That you actually like me?”
Is that what she thinks? He shouldn’t dissuade her of that notion. It was far safer that she never learn how much he did in fact like her.
Instead he shakes his head vehemently.
“No, it would be too easy. Way too easy.”
He might be drunker than he thought. He needs to backtrack, but his mind is working at a snail’s pace.
But she gives him another one of her bright smiles—and he may have just melted a little.
“You know what, Jon Snow? Next week is my last at the Senator’s office.”
Wait, what?
“Oh?” He’s surprised at how much his chest ached.
“My brother Robb is running for state legislator. It’s where our dad started his political career,” she says with a soft fond smile. “Anyways, he needs a communications manager and who better than me?’
Oh, so she’s leaving the District. It’s better that way, honestly. She wouldn’t be an intern and he wouldn’t be a threat. (But he was going to miss her.)
Why was his throat so dry?
“With you on the team, I can’t imagine him not winning,” he finally manages to choke out.
“That’s the plan. But you know what?”
She’s leaning in very close now and he swallows very audibly.
“You do know my hometown is in Maryland, right? Just 30 minutes away on the Red Line.”
Wait, what is she telling him? Why is she telling him what she’s telling him?
His brain is, his brain is scrambling trying to figure this out.
“Do they… do they have good green tea lattes there?”
“In fact I know just the place. You just have to come and visit me,” she smiles and he somehow manages to smile back.

Sweet! Then I'm sending you one: when Jon tells Sansa he's going south to meet Dany (S7) she starts to learn self defense because she thinks she's all alone now... and somehow this leds to an intense argument about the current situation, the future and their feelings. Thanks;)
Enjoy!
The crypts are lit brighter than she’s ever seen them, the walls appearing more amber than charcoal for once. She’s not surprised to see Jon in the distance, standing right in front of the statue of Lyanna. She pauses by the entrance and watches him for a few seconds, observing his expression, searching for some type of sign… But the look in his eyes is inscrutable. Is he looking at the stone likeness of his mother as if for the first time, or is it because it may be his last?
No one can know how much this hurts. Hence why she’s been avoiding him so much since he announced he was traveling south to parlay with the Dragon Queen. A decision that has an extra layer of significance to just a few. For the lords, it’s simply their king going on a political mission. Seven Hells, some even suggested he send Sansa instead, since she is the one who handles most of the diplomatic matters. But no, it’s Jon who is going. He knows why. Sansa knows why. Bran knows why. Arya knows why.
But Sansa imagines even among the four of them, this circumstance means something very particular to her. Her unmarried, kingly cousin is going to meet his secret, powerful, rich, unmarried queenly aunt. Daenerys Targaryen, who is supposedly as beautiful as Queen Rhaenys and as fierce as Queen Visenya. The Mother of Dragons.
There will be controversy, if Jon bends the knee. She just hope he has enough sense to retain his title and independence. She hopes he thinks to preserve the line of succession as it is, as well. After all, where will her children, and Arya’s children go if everything is passed to the dragons?
She wishes Jon hadn’t summoned her here like this. It’s the first time he’s employed his status to make her do anything. She understands why he’s done it. What choice has she given him? But it hurts too much, seeing him now.
If and when he weds his aunt, the lords will erupt in fury. They declared him king because they want to be independent. And the Trident and Vale lords will be especially furious, with Jon potentially diverting sovereignty of the Three Realms from Catelyn Tully’s line.
They may insist on supplanting Jon and if that happens…
She doesn’t want to betray Jon. But Bran is underage and they only just got Arya back. If she is too loyal to the “Targaryen” king, she won’t be able to protect them, the North, or Winterfell. She may have to supplant him. She may have to become his enemy.
He will never know how much it will hurt her to do that. But if the choice comes to him or protecting her family, she has to protect her family.
She can’t bear to say that to him, though she knows she should. She tried to warn him, the night he announced he’d be leaving. But he wouldn’t listen. He actually refused her company. He drew away first. And now… Whatever courage she had that night failed her. She’s been acting the craven since.
I’m a Stark, she reminds herself, I must be brave.
Sansa clears her throat loudly enough to echo through the crypts, drawing Jon’s gaze. She even curtseys, eliciting a pained furrow of his brow.
“Please, Sansa,” he says, reaching out, “Come here and talk to me.”
He’s pleading, really, for her to close the gap. She can do that physically, but he’s the one who will widen it again. By thousands upon thousands of literal miles to complement the metaphorical ones.
She makes herself walk to him, though. Perhaps Jon thinks he’s doing this for only the right reasons. But if he thinks they can have an open conversation without her trying to talk him out of it, he’s mad. She has to guard herself.
Sansa moves close and turns her gaze to the stone face of Lyanna Stark. Looking at Lyanna’s son hurts too much at such close range. There’s an awkward silence as Jon faces his mother’s tomb as well.
“I have heard from Maester Daeron that you have taken up the study of poisons. And Arya has informed me that you now strap a dagger to your stockings during the day and hide it under your pillow at night.”
He’s smart to mention Arya. He wants her to know he hasn’t been spying on her. That people who love her and worry about her brought him this information. Still, this is the last thing Sansa expected to discuss with him.
“I am merely taking the steps to make sure I can protect myself,” she says quietly.
“From who?” He asks.
“Many people. Even within Winterfell’s walls, there could be enemies, and even as I gain one ally, it seems I lose another. Every day is more uncertain. Littlefinger alone—”
“—You think I’d let that man lay a hand on you?!” Jon snaps.
“You’re not going to be here before long,” she reminds him.
“I won’t be gone long!” He insists.
“I think we both know that’s not true.” Before he can protest, she turns to look at him again. “Besides, Jon, it’s not your responsibility to look after me anymore. It’s time I learn to do it myself. I need to stop expecting you to protect me.”
“Why?!” He demands, furious, “Because I’m not your brother?!”
“Because I’m an adult!” She insists, “And because I can’t—-”
“—You promised to trust me!”
“—You promised that you wouldn’t leave me alone!”
They glare at each other silently. Jon bows his head.
“I will always—”
“—Care? You think that’s going to matter after you’re married?!” She demands. “When all your vassals declare a revolt because you’ve handed our kingdom back to the Iron Throne and I will be forced to choose between you and literally everything else?!”
He steps back and gapes at her. “What are you talking about? Is that some Littlefinger nonsense?!”
“No, Jon!” She snaps, stung, “It’s reality! Do you honestly think that after Robb, after Lyanna, after the Red Wedding and the War of the Five Kings, that your subjects will let you marry a foreigner and reinstate southern rule?! Especially once they learn the truth? I’m going to be the one who has to handle that, Jon. I’m going to be the one here. Don’t you get it?! You may never get to come back! I’ll be lucky if Manderly and Ryswell don’t force a coup and use Bran to control the North through a regency!”
She stops and gasps. There. There it was.
“Sansa, I—”
She finds her words again. “I don’t want to do it, Jon! You have to believe me! I… I love you… But I have to do what’s right for Bran and Arya. And you… You’re the one leaving. And I want you to be happy, but I can’t promise to preserve your status. It’s not because I’m jealous, Jon, I swear. But you can’t run off and marry a foreign queen who wants to dominate us and expect me to keep your kingdom warm and waiting for you. I would if I could, I promise. I would! I would! I love you that much. But I can’t.”
There it is again. She’s told him. And the effort is so draining that she literally sinks to the ground and buries her face in her hands. What must he think of her? She’s supposed to be his sister…
She expects him to flee. To leave the sobbing mess she’s become.
Sansa doesn’t expect him to sink down beside her, grab her by the shoulders, and kiss her deep.
It’s a sweeter, deeper, warmer kiss than any she’s known. And against his lips, she discovers instincts she had no idea she possesses to part her lips, lean in, clutch his hair, and kiss him back. She isn’t even able to think until their lips part. Until she looks into his eyes again and realizes what this might mean.
“I’m such a fool…” he says, “I was leaving to protect you, Sansa. I intended to surrender myself to her in exchange for your safety and title. I had no idea…”
“What?!”
He’s red-faced and sputtering. “I was going to abdicate in your favor once I was gone and offer myself to Daenerys. She’d not have to worry about my claim competing with hers if she acknowledged and allied with you. I just wanted you to be safe, to put you on the throne like you deserve. You don’t think I know how much our vassals value our independence? I was counting on it! But simply abdicating would make it harder for you to assert your authority. So when we learned of my origins, I figured I’d throw myself to the dragons and pretend to take everyone with me so they’d overthrow me and put you in my place.”
“WHY?!”
“Because The North should be yours! Because it’s the only way to make sure you never have to be forced under anyone’s control again! Because I love you! More than I’ve ever loved anything or anyone…”
He stops talking, looks at the ground, and shakes his head. “…If I had any idea that you felt the same way…”
Sansa gapes. “Jon, I… Marry me. Please. Don’t leave me.”
“I have to leave, Sansa, but…” He looks up again. “I’ll marry you. I’ll make an offer to Daenerys. But I’ll offer to sign away my rights to be your consort. Let me do that for you, please. And I promise I’ll come home to you. I’ll marry you tonight, if you wish. And I’ll return home to you as soon as possible.”
There’s a long silence. She can’t believe this. “Truly?”
“Truly, Sansa.” He smiles. “The only way I ever could have left you was by sacrificing myself, but now that I know the truth, I can’t even do that.” He takes her hands and the two rise to their feet, eyes locked. “You’re mine, Sansa Stark. And I’ll steal you, if I have to.”
Her lips curl. “Steal me? You couldn’t possibly.”
Jon smirks. Next thing Sansa knows, she’s over his shoulder, being carried out of the crypts.
The two say nothing, merely laugh as he makes his way out of the Keep, stopping only to throw a cloak over both of them, and carries her all the way to the godswood. When they finally arrive at the base of the Heart Tree, he lets her down, making sure to keep his cloak on her shoulders.
“There,” he says, “I stole you.”
“No,” she argues, wagging her finger in his face, “One cannot steal what is freely given.”

GOT 7x07
Man, that's 80 minutes of my life I can't get back.
In the "Inside the Episode" one of the two Ds say that "we filmed for days in the Dragonpit" and let me tell you, it sure felt that was watching it all play out. We didn't need the Hound/Ser Gregor one sided verbal showdown (no Clegane Bowl in the show guys, sorry). Theon did not need to be there. Brien ne did not need to be there. Sansa's "interests" were nowhere represented in this parlay, not that they needed to be to begin with. Euron really did not need to be there. Nor Qyburn. Nor Missendei. Nor Jorah. Nor Davos. Or Varys.
Honestly, the fact that every single figure of strategic and military importance decided to show up was rather stupid. It would have been perfectly within character for Cersei to turn coat and kill them all. If we're really to believe she had no intention of ever helping the North against the army of the dead than she could have just ended it all right then and there. She literally had every major Targaryen and Stark (and Greyjoy I guess) person in her grasp. It was all just stupid.
And it really just took way too long. The first sixty minutes of this episode took way too long and could have easily been shaved down by half.
It never ceases to amaze me when the show still manages to lift a scene straight off the page of the books this late in the game. The scene of snow flakes falling on Jaime was very reminiscent of "winter" officially coming to the Riverlands at the end of A Feast For Crows and I guess show Jaime is FINALLY on his way to meeting up with the trajectory of book Jaime ... three seasons too little, too late.
Jon and Daenerys are officially cannon. I guess that's fantastic if you're a fan of the pairing. I've always kind of figured there might be a political marriage in their future but I've never seen it as more than an alliance and I doubt even one of them will be alive when all is said and done, let alone both of them, so it's a doomed romance. I might care a little more in the show of Clarke and Harrington had any chemistry whatsoever but seeing as how they don't I mostly just cringed through their scenes.
I'll wrap this up with my three biggest nitpics, all of which are really unfortunate for me personally because they are three things I've no doubt will go down in the books and they proved to be incredibly unsatisfactory in the show.
1. You guys couldn't find a better wig for Rhaegar than one that was clearly recycled from Harry Lloyd's stint as Viserys Targaryen in season 1? Really, costume department? That wedding scene was bad enough being hamfisted in the show with Bran's magical fairy powers (A literal line from the show: "That's not something you can just ... "see" ... is it?" I guess Bran is omniscient now. If he can truly see all things why not just tell us all how to defeat the white walkers rather than sit around all day sight seeing through crows? That means he should be able to see how the last Long Night ended, right?
2. Sansa turning on Littlefinger was not the least bit seeded at all and was robbed of all dramatic catharsis. I felt nothing and this is something I have been anticipating from day 1. I'm still not entirely certain what the hell happened in the last episode between Sansa and Arya because it did not at all come across as two sisters acting and playing Littlefinger. You know why? Because Littlefinger WAS NOT AROUND for any of their scenes. NO ONE WAS AROUND for any of their scenes. Are we supposed to believe their performances were for the benefit of the walls he was presumably lurking in? I guess he lurks a lot, but again ... those scenes were played genuinely. It felt like a couple of scenes were missing. No, you know what? It felt like entire episodes were missing and I'd like to say this is the consequence of a shorter season but we've already seen how this show's full 10 episode seasons play out and I have no doubt they would have still fucked up this turn.
We know Sansa's going to eventually be the one to destroy Littlefinger in the books because we have the benefit of her inner monologue correcting him every time he calls her his daughter when she's constantly referring to herself as "the blood of Winterfell" and "Ned and Katelyn Stark's daughter" in her head. I understand that we can't have Sophie Turner monologuing in the show without it coming across as a rip off of Twilight's god awful voice overs, but come on. There was not the slightest indication that the Stark sisters were conspiring with one another. It's just something that needed to happen so it happened, just like everything else on the show.
3. I've been waiting for that wall to come down since the dead marched on the wall all the way back in season 2 and it was sooooo disappointing. Because we don't even get the satisfaction of seeing the whole wall come down, just a chunk of it. Meh.
What can we glean from this season as far as what we might expect in books 6 and 7? Probably not much.
- I've still got my money on their being three dragon riders but I suppose if Dany were to lose one of her dragons it'll probably be to Euron and his dragon horn as we already know that the Night's King is a show construct and there won't be any member of the army of the dead to ride a dragon.
- Jon may have been legitimized. I've always speculated that Rhaegar and Lyanna married but seeing as how the books have already established the Targaryens practiced polygamy in Valyria, I'm more inclined to believe he took Lyanna for a second wife as the kind of still needed his first two children to be legitimate and that would mean no annulment to the first wife. If that scene actually appears in the books, it will be in front of a heart tree, because book Bran is not all omniscient. The magic in the books actually have rules.
- Sansa will be responsible for Littlefinger's death, but I think most of us already know that anyway.
- The wall will come down. But we already know that's coming as well.
Oy vey. Well that's it for at least another year and a half.
... I wonder if Gendry managed to make it out of Eastwatch before the wall came down. Hmm.
Also RIP Littlefinger and farewell Aiden. So sorry your last scene had to be so craptastically orchestrated. At least you are on to bigger and better things now.
