Hello everyone! I had a new idea for a februari challenge 🌟

Within fandom, there’s a big focus romantic and sexual relationships, in my opinion sometimes to the detriment of other types of relations. Friendships, familiar bonds, queer platonic characters and aspec characters more often than not get the short end of the stick in these kind of spaces. I fear this notion reinforces amatonormativity and makes fandom spaces less comfortable for aspec folks.

In fanfiction spaces, gen fics are a good way to filter out romantic content! I love ao3’s tagging and filtering system in particular, as you can look up fanfics that explore non romantic relationships easily. I appreciate the ampersand and slash differentiation.

I would like to take the idea of gen fics further, and develop the presence of non romantic or sexual relationships in fandom spaces more. For example, I want to coin the term “gen art”! This would be fanart, that much like gen fics, explores characters and character bonds that aren’t focused on romance. I think it would also be great to develop a tagging system for platonic bonds. Creating this type of language within fandom is the first step to changing the relationship hierarchy we so often see there.

For this challenge, the idea is that for every day you create a gen fan work inspired by the prompt of that day. This can be art as the name suggests, but any type of media is welcome! Fanfics, art, edits, poems, moodboards, photography, the sky’s the limit. Don’t worry about skipping any days or changing up the prompts! This is all in good fun ✨💕

"Forever can we talk?" Phil says, nervousness seeping into hiw voice despite his efforts to hide it.

Forever crosses his arms with a huff.

"Please? I don't want to fight with you anymore."

Forever glances back at him. Then the kids playing on the trampoline. He sighs, "Fine. But I'm still upset."

Phil smiles, at least it was something. He tells the kids to stay where they are and leads Forvever over the wall sepearating the garden and the potato farm.

"So?" Forever prompts, impatient as ever. He wants to be able to watch Richas and not have to be with Phil longer than he has to.

"I don't want to fight anymore, this is a bit ridiculous, isn't it?" Phil crosses his arms, a nervous habit.

Forever gives him a look of disbelief, "You broke my heart! You- you gave me a chance and the next day you just- you took my heart and broke it, Philza! I won't forgive you, you're a monster."

"How would you feel if I asked you to be more like Missa?" Phil had asked the question in his head a million times over since the spat started. It was nice to get it out.

Forever hesitates, trying to find the right words. He stammers for a moment before falling silent again and giving Phil to chance to continue.

"It hurts, Forever. I could love you, I think we could work but I need you to love me too. Me. Not Brunim. And if you can't do that, I don't want to be around you anymore." Phil does his best to stay stern but his voice wavers nonetheless. Built up emotion from the past few days threatening to overflow.

Forever hesitates again before responding. "I still love him."

"I know. I'm not asking you to forget him completely. I understand. If anyone gets this, it's me but I'm not out here asking you to be more like the love of my life, am I?" Phil's voice almost breaks this time, the very thought of her made his heart sink.

"I... I understand. I just-" Forever blinks the tears from his eyes, "I miss him so much, I'd do anything to be with him again..."

"I know. But I'm not him. And I never will be."

Forever nods.

Phil hesitates now, watching Forever as tears gathered in his eyes. "I can love you, all I ask is that you do the same."

"...I think I can do that." Forever smiles.
