Gentle reminder, it’s completely okay and normal to have violent and homicidal thoughts toward your abusers.

“I had all and then most of you
Some and now none of you.
Take me back to the night we met.”
— The Night We Met by Lord Huron
cw implied death, angst, OWWW OWWWIE OWWW
Tumblr media
The day starts as usual.
The sun rises, birds chirping as you push open the balcony door to let the morning air in. Joseph steps out, a cigarette already between his fingers. You join him, two mugs of coffee in your hands. He takes one from you with a grateful smile, you both settle into the routine.
The day is beautiful. The suns warm embrace on your skin makes you want to linger there forever, soaking in her rays.
“What d’ya want for breakfast?” he asks, smoke curling lazily from his lips.
You ponder for a moment, imagining the taste of different dishes. “How about…pancakes?” you suggest, feeling your mouth water at the thought.
Joseph chuckles, stubbing out his cigarette and taking a final gulp of his coffee. “Pancakes it is then.”
You eat breakfast together at the table. Joseph flips through his script between bites, humming under his breath and glancing at the clock occasionally. A quiet sigh escapes him as he polishes off his plate.
He rises, placing his dirtied plate on the sink, setting his empty mug on top. He walks over to you, gently pushing your hair back and kissing your forehead.
“I gotta go. I’ll see you later, okay?”
You hum, cheeks warming from the kiss. “I’ll pick up stuff to make your favorite for dinner tonight. I know we haven’t had it in a while.”
His eyes light up, “Sounds like a plan.”
He heads towards the entryway, grabbing his jacket. He looks back at you, a smile still lingering on his lips.
“Don’t worry, filming shouldn’t take long today. I’ll be home before you know it.”
The butterflies in your stomach flutter with his words.
“Okay, I’ll see you later,” you reply, eyes droopy with morning grogginess and love.
The door clicks shut behind him, you watch a moment longer. Your eyes trace over the knob, down the mysterious crack in the wood, and watch his shadowy steps fade away. A sudden uneasiness creeps in, filling your gut with a syrupy ache. The butterflies no longer flutter, their wings cut, leaving you with a heavy feeling in their place.
You try to shake it off, but the feeling lingers, the knot in your stomach tightening with each tick of the clock. Hour after hour, minute after minute, you try to distract yourself with meaningless chores. You go grab things for dinner, the hustle and bustle of the store creating a dull hum over the pit in your stomach. A weak balm that doesn’t last the second you step through the apartment door again.
Night falls, groceries left forgotten on the counter. Seconds tick by painfully slow, each one a reminder of his absence. You can’t shake the feeling that something is terribly wrong.
Joseph doesn’t return that night, or any night after that.

The sight that greeted Victor Rookwood as he exited the Hog's Head that fateful evening would be forever ingrained in his memory.
The street was dark and eerily quiet, and the dapper wizard had just taken a few steps outside the seedy pub before he realized something was amiss, causing him to stop abruptly and survey his surroundings.
"Lumos."
Tumblr media
Continued below...
At first, Victor was more disoriented than anything - unsure that he could trust what he was seeing with his own eyes. The dark wizard blinked a few times in confusion before, slowly, he began to make sense of the gruesome display before him.
Heaps of... dirty rags? Someone has made rather a mess, it seems. . .
No. That's blood.
Blood and worse.
Before him was a scene of utter carnage the likes of which he'd never seen. A slaughter. The lifeless bodies of several young witches were splayed out in the middle of Spire Alley, a spectacle so macabre that even the dark wizard, well-accustomed to death, felt his stomach lurch at the sight.
A ginger witch lay eviscerated. Another's golden hair fanned around her angelic face like a halo. A brunette was positioned face down in a pool of her own blood. A strange-looking witch with odd-coloured hair... Victor shuddered as he recalled that one. He remembered her as having been particularly annoying.
And yet more still.
Sisters in death. Some he recognized outright, a vague familiarity to the rest. Their faces - doubtless once beautiful, now befouled by their own blood. Twisted limbs at grotesque angles. Internal organs now decidedly external.
Gods..
And in the center a... survivor? Victor tentatively stepped forward, perhaps even to offer a helping hand, as the pale witch clad in black gazed up at him adoringly.
"Victor.. I did it for you. For us."
Tumblr media
Rookwood watched, horrified comprehension dawning on his face as the witch released a bloodied dagger she'd been holding. He barely registered the sound of the steel clattering to the cobblestone over the pounding of his heart.
"I love you, Victor."

hokage jiraiya au where
ok wait i promise this isn't going where you think
ok so jiraiya gets tsunade back to konoha but plot twist! she tricked him bc she super doesn't want to be hokage and in fact why doesn't he just do it. "oh but the spy network" fine tsunade is spymaster now have fun being hokage idiot
anyway the actual point of this is unrelated to jiraiya, i just want naruto and sakura to travel around with tsunade and be besties (shizune sadly stays in konoha to whack jiraiya when he behaves inappropriately, which it turns out is actually great stress relief. she's on the verge of losing it and going to the dark side tho) (also naruto is learning straight from the toads instead of jiraiya. it's fine dw about it)
jiraiya mostly comes up in stories about the sannin's past or the toads talking about training or whatever, with the small exception of a running gag where he keeps finding increasingly desperate ways to try and convince tsunade to come be hokage bc this is a fucking nightmare (also orochimaru keeps sending him passive aggressive congratulations gifts. most of them bite. successfully)

Carter Sherman at The Guardian:
Legislators in at least four states have introduced bills this year that would change the legal definition of “homicide” to include abortion – proposals that pave the way for states to charge abortion patients with murder. Pregnancy Justice, a group that tracks these kinds of efforts, says it has recorded more “homicide” bills this year than ever before. Abortion bans have typically penalized providers, rather than patients. “That raises significant alarm – both that we’ve seen more than we have in the past in a single legislative session already, and that they’re not generating the level of outrage or attention or scrutiny that they have in years past,” said Dana Sussman, senior vice-president at Pregnancy Justice. “The more of these kinds of bills that get introduced, people get numb to the idea of them, and they seem less and less radical.”
With Donald Trump returning to power in Washington DC, abortion rights supporters and opponents are waiting to see how the new president will handle one of the most divisive issues in US life. But red-state lawmakers have already filed a host of anti-abortion proposals over the last few weeks. In addition to the “homicide” bills, many of these bills target access to abortion pills – which account for more than 60% of US abortions – and seek to limit minors’ ability to obtain abortions. In at least two states, Montana and Missouri, lawmakers are also seeking to implement legislation that would in effect roll back the abortion protections guaranteed by recent ballot measures. Last year, when elections loomed over legislators’ heads, states passed fewer abortion-related laws than they had in the five years prior, according to the the Center for Reproductive Rights. But this year, Kimya Forouzan, principal state policy adviser at the Guttmacher Institute, suspects that lawmakers will take Trump’s victory in 2024 as a green light to pursue anti-abortion policies more aggressively. “There’s generally going to be an emboldening of state legislators who are opposed to reproductive and sexual health and rights, given the new administration,” Forouzan said.
‘Homicide’ and ‘fetal personhood’
Bills that redefine abortion as “homicide” strengthen a legal doctrine known as “fetal personhood”, which seeks to grant embryos and fetuses legal rights and protections – sometimes at the expense of the women carrying them. If fully enacted, fetal personhood would not only ban abortion but would rewrite entire arenas of US law, from traffic regulations to taxes. So far in 2025, lawmakers in at least six states have introduced bills to strengthen fetal personhood, while Trump has tucked fetal personhood language into one of his executive orders. [...]
Limits on abortion pills
In the years since Roe fell, anti-abortion activists have lobbed attack after attack on abortion pills, or medication abortion, which are increasingly facilitated by the mail. In spring 2024, more than 19,000 abortions were provided each month through telehealth appointments, which rely on the mail to deliver the pills, according to #WeCount, a research project by the Society of Family Planning. “Mailed medication abortion is an existential threat to the anti-abortion movement,” said Rachel Rebouché, the dean of Temple University’s law school. “It’s hard to police.” Red states, however, are going to try. Indiana, which bans virtually all abortions, has introduced three separate bills that would ban people from sending abortion pills to individuals in the state. One of those bills also outlaws the possession of abortion pills. Over in Oklahoma and Tennessee, which ban almost all abortions, lawmakers have introduced similar bills that would also ban people from mailing abortion pills – and, in the case of the Tennessee bill, hold them liable for $5m if those pills were used in an abortion.
With the return of Donald Trump to the White House, anti-abortion extremists are further emboldened to push extreme bills that would treat abortion as “homicide” and restrictions on abortion medications in the states.

alright, taking bets on who is holding the flashlight at the end of Ep8
I've got my money on two candidates:
either the one person who was in the Biddle house that we haven't heard from, and who was sold as a villain from the start.
or the one person who willingly walked into the Biddle house but whose plans got massively derailed by Harold's sudden appearance.
it's either Allison, the ex-girlfriend, or Nathan Bratt himself.
If I'm wrong, then Disney needs new writers.

I haven't even read JtHM yet, but when I saw a signed copy of Squee's Wonderful Big Giant Book of Unspeakable Horrors up for sale on Topatoco, I simply had to snag it, lol.
(Not sure what that "V" is, but I like it. It's unique. Adds character. :P)
