Mayhaps an explanation on how each class can effect the session? I know kights usally means there's a lack of its aspect but what about the others?

Maids’ sessions are controlled by something. Aradia’s session had doc scratch orchestrating all this bullshit event-wise. Jane’s session has the condesce who had all the power in their universe.

Pages’ aspects are kind of what the players hope their futures will bring post-sburb. The trolls lived in a very unpleasant, highly controlled dictatorship. The kids were kind of thinking they would win without any problems.

Mages’ sessions are full of their aspect. There was so much doom in the beta trolls’ session. People kept dying for no reason. There was basically no way they would be able to get along and play cooperatively. Also karkat creating Jack noir basically fucked everything from the start.

Knights’ sessions have very little of their aspect, so the knight is assigned to protect what little is there. Dave had to haul ass to get rose in the session. There was also just a time crunch to finish in general. All the trolls had different ideas of what they wanted, and their conflicting ideas were hard to keep working together.

Rogues have sort of an unaddressed problem waiting to come up. Rufioh grew up to lead a revolution. Roxy’s session had a lot of unaddressed stuff in general. Lots of misplaced confidence, lack of communication, hidden feelings, etc. There are a lot of times in the trolls session where they have the little heart or spade or clubs symbol in their eyes or over their heads and nothing ever comes of it. Nepeta never god tiered.

Sylphs sessions have a dire lack of their aspect in their session and are charged with nursing it back to health. Kanaya was the lone tender of the matriorb that would ensure the troll race keeps being born. Aradias session I guess is full of meaningless nonsense and plot irrelevant shit. She kind of builds it up for thousands of years or however long and then unleashes it all at once. But… she brings information and plot relevance to her session members and to the combined session.

Seers’ aspects are a resource their team hasn’t tapped into yet. They know nothing about it. Even Dave, who seems to be the most cynical and down to earth member of the gang (besides rose) still does not see his brothers actions for what they are (bad) and clouds himself in a shame induced misidentification of who he is and who he is allowed to be. Terezis team has never considered the consequences of their actions. They never set their sights on a goal and plot a course from here to there. They set one foot forward and then the entropy guides them forward with no brakes.

Thieves... I think the session actually needs a leader in that aspect! The thief's job is to find a hidden resource (and looking at the trolls' session, light seems really unavailable lol.) and draw it out, creating a hub of aspect where it can exert itself. For some reason, Vriska also liked pushing Tavros to be stronger and the best him he can be. Actually, that might be a pitch thing... The Sn0wman told her to "steal his will" because "that's what a thief does" or whatever. But Vriska thought he was capable or wanted him to be capable of mercy killing her.

Heirs have plenty of their aspect all around them to work with. I guess they have to kind of bring that to the session themselves, actually! But they have no trouble doing it. John successfully retrieved his presents, fought his dad, started the game, and just began slaying like a beast and rocketing ahead no problem. The world John was born into set him up with a good place to stretch out. Sburb was created without John doing anything at all. The ultimate escape from earth, right? Equius was set up with a world with arbitrary rules and little independent thought. His hemospectrum placement is high enough to give him a superiority AND inferiority complex. For some reason, he has incredible roboti% skills SO THAT he always has something intelligent and logical to destroy.

Bards seem to have an aspect that is like... I don't want to say an abscess because that's gross... It's like their aspect is under a lot of pressure from being suppressed by the world and their team. Just about every member of the team has rage that isn't fully expressed. Gamzee definitely brings out rage and disgust in Terezi. He also makes the rest of his team very aware that just because it doesn't look like it, his aspect is definitely there. It's just waiting to come out. Gamzee himself is the first thing to express its rage... That no one expected him to have. I read somewhere that Gamzee became an agent of his aspect after he "calmed down." He brought chaos and anger and pain to everyone. He's the one who threw all the bodies of people who hated each other (and fefeta) into the sprites to make them useless. I guess Equius was a sprite by himself but. Equius is pretty fucking useless anyway. He's the heir of useless. Gamzee was taken out of mind control and saw that Terezi was stabbing him, and he decided to trick her by acting like his old self to manipulate her emotions. And as soon as she let her guard down, he went apeshit and beat her crazy clown style. He is like a harbinger of confusion and pain.

Princes. Princes' aspects are overgrown. They're clouding the session's ability to function. Dirk basically successfully exploded the romantic tension between all 4 of his team members. In a very destructive and painful way. If they didn't have a prince, they would have been too distracted by their crushes to finish the game. Eridan is a much suckier person, but he does have the same job. Dirk has a more precise excision style like a surgeon, but Eridan prefers mowing down "enemies" with abandon, which makes it harder for his team. In one fell swoop, Eridan killed the future ruler of the Troll race AND the ability for more trolls to be born. And the only troll babysitter. I don't know why the trolls thought this would be a fun game they could easily win, but Eridan completely took care of that.

Witches have an aspect that needs to be understood in a new way. Like gender. You guys know what I mean by that right. I think this is clearer with Feferi-- wait! No, except Jade has a new way for planets to be created! She's not the first one to PLAY sburb, but she's the one to INTRODUCE us to it as a character. Remember, these roles are about your purpose in the story, not in a watsonian way. Jade finds new ways of creating things. Feferi finds new ways of leading that creates beforus which still sucks but is much better than alternia.

so, can i ask you about how a prince can be good? i know classpects dont automatically determine a character's morality, but im definitely scratching my head on how destroyer classes of a "positively associated" aspect can be a great addition to a session. all of the canon princes end up working or contributing for the antagonist in some way or form. its confusing to me. like say, if a prince of breath ends up in playing the game, all i can think of is that they'd be a tyrant to their friends or that they'd a ticking bomb in their session, i just have no idea how they could be a good teammate.

Oh, no worries about sounding harsh. You didn't, but even if you did, I understand where the question is coming from. It's a pretty hotly contested one, and due to the title of "Active Destroyer," it is a bit difficult to read it as anything positive. That is, until you take a step back and look at it from the perspective of it being a magic system, rather than a personal condemnation.

Aspects are inherently neutral but variable concepts, not definitively good ones. Which means that depending on how they present + define themselves in any given situation, their presence can genuinely be a negative force. In situations where the Aspect of a Prince is one that is proving itself to be a detriment to a particular Player, Team, or the whole Session, the Prince can be a force for good by destroying it.

Though a Prince is an Active Class- meaning they tend to utilize their relationship with their Aspect that mostly benefits and/or affects them- it is extremely possible that one can do good, as "Active" does not mean "Bad". This is because "Personal Benefit" is a pretty loose term- sometimes people are nice because it makes them feel nice, and no other reason. This does not make the niceness tainted, and it does not make them a bad person. If someone does good things for what can be defined as selfish reasons- sans expecting it to be transactional, especially with regards to Kindness for Sex- it is still a net positive. It's like how donating to charity to get that feel-good effect for yourself is still, ultimately... Donating to charity. Just because you're donating for your own personal benefit doesn't mean others aren't benefiting from your actions.

A Prince of Breath can do good by cutting out excess Breath- mitigating the distance between Players and the aimlessness of their Team. They can very, very easily be a grounding force for those around them. It's pretty likely, though, that they suffer from an inability to give themselves any kind of break- or, to put it in other words, Freedom from their Obligations. They're working overtime on being the Session's group therapist and constantly working to keep everyone on track. Yes, they could be a tyrant, but that's only one interpretation of the title. There's many things you could do with a Prince- good, neutral, and bad- if you get a little creative with it.

so lets start breaking everything down :

page : one who is exploited by or through their aspect

doom : decay , rules , control & sacrifice

so how do these mix ?

actually not that badly ! basically a page of doom would be VERY passive , , because itd all lead to a very , , doom bound person , , particularly so !! so basically theyd be very with the flow in how they act ; very much a helper ( which is in my opinion the best role for a doom player ) , someone who wouldnt have much control over what happens to them to their dismay , , say , they would have a particular lack of rules & control which would be very detrimental to them in the session in the beginning of course as is customary for pages , , but again as a page they would grow through their aspect .

theyd be , , to put it lightly , , not very stable , , and would probably be scared of their aspect because they would not understand the great power that it could imply , , but of course they wouldnt ! its hard to grasp how powerful a fully realised page and thats fair , , itd be a spectacle to behold !! but for now theyre a complete pushover and not particularly responsible , , opting to just , , ignore their aspect due to thinking theyd fail if they tried .

being such a troubled classpect , i think they would just do everything in their power to be someone they are not , , having an idealized version of themself that theyd try pretty hard to live up to , , id joke about it being doom guy but itd actually work pretty well as to how a page of doom would want to be like , , being recklessly destructive and tearing through everything that stands on their way blinded by their wrath , , but eventually coming to terms with their way of being and even embracing it !

well , , itd be hard to say honestly , , but based on jake ( the page of hope ) theyd be stupid powerful !

id say theyd be able to be engulf everyone in a specific radius in doom , , making them either decay slowly , , like some fucked up poison effect in pokemon , , or making them be more prone to sacrifice , , say maybe to the pages advantage ?

although thatd be on a higher level , , onto the easier stuff :

theyd be more than a healer a support , , being able to give great advice on what to do , , overall being able to lead surprisingly well when they allow themselves to

theyd also be able to break things without meaning to , , id say theyd be clumsily powerful in the beginning , , then later on making it more intentional as they realize all the power they have

overall thoughts :

they would be a great member in any session , , as tends to happen with pages !! just be patient and dont lose hope , , , , id even go to saying that this classpect is powerful in a way so magnificent it is hard to properly understand , , mainly due to how unexplored the doom aspect is in canon , ,

[ + ] PAGE OF DOOM [ + ]

Being [or consulting] a Page is often a good way to find out one’s moral stance - where potential lies, there is change, and this is fluid no matter what. Where there is potential that the Page grasps, there is also the seed and possible growth of misfortune: Doom. The Page of Doom, therefore, is one who searches for the potential and shifting within misfortune and finality, often in ways that others would overlook. Though it is tiring and thankless work, they know it must be done, for the good of both others and themselves. Keeping a positive air about them is hard given the grip of their Aspect, though it can turn into one of their greatest strengths when given enough time - they can become headstrong and determined, driven to twist a bad situation into a good one with brute force if necessary. Rest assured they’ll do whatever it takes. 

When faced with the challenges of the real world, the Page of Doom is often shackled by their own insecurities. They’ll hold themselves back trying to properly analyse a situation, only to run into misunderstanding or another trouble before it’s too late. They may need the support of others to continue, but they’re good at forging on ahead when they’ve been picked up - there’s no shame in waiting, and the Page is a class that takes that to the brink. Some never really do grow past the need for support, fumbling now and again, but having the positive outlook on situations that they do comes in handy. Though it can take time to come to fruition, the reward of gaining the Page’s trust is proven all the more worthwhile.

On the Skaian battlefield, the Page is a wavering choice. They can either be great assets or great letdowns, as much as they’d like to be one or the other. Too much hangs in the balance of the individual player especially because of a negative Aspect like Doom. Their strength lies in learning to predict and soothe - to calm the forces around them, though not a Sylph. They need to learn to play into their natural strengths instead of letting their Aspect get the better of them early on, then slowly begin to harmonise with it so they don’t become overwhelmed. They’re under-appreciated forces that can shift the tides of battle in a pinch, but are just as prone to being swallowed by their own Aspect if they let it get out of hand. Overall, they work best as an informant and support, taking a backseat and letting others do the dirty work until they’re well and truly ready to make their presence known. 

The Page of Doom isn’t quick to choose allies, much preferring to struggle through their session alone. They know well how they’re a magnet of bad luck, and try to make their presence in the game fittingly small to minimise risk. However, the certainty in Seers’ predictions and the Knights’ tenacious path-laying can prove beneficial for getting the capricious Page to open back up in the face of adversity. Similarly, Light and Mind assuage their natural fears with knowledge. On the other side of the spectrum lay Thieves and Princes: they’re naturally untrustworthy, and this classpect needs as much stability as it can get in order to fully realise their role in the games they play. Similarly, other Doom players are harder for them to handle. Heroes of Breath, while commanding a more unrelated aspect, can often mess with what little understanding they’re able to grasp if they cause too much rapid change.

and on top of everything i’m having a mild identity crisis cause my classpect is. not the same as it used to be lol, i was CONVINCED i was a breath player but time is really ringing true for me but so is hope and like. damn how do y’all know yourselves well enough to know ur classpect maybe i’m a heart player cause my journey needs a bit of self discovery but maybe i’m a time player cause god damn time is the limiting factor on everything but maybe i’m a space player cause at my core i’m a creative being but i’m optimistic to a fault so maybe a hope player but like my mission in life is to learn and know and discover so light really rings true to me and ARGHHHH someone help me classpect myself (don’t even get me STARTED on classes cause idek where to start there i used to be able to classpect people by looking at them but four years is a lot of time and i’ve lost my little classpecting notebook which i used to write it all down in)

Time to finish off this ask with, last but not least: Diamonds Droog.

Mr. Droog is a classically classic guy. Smooth, efficient, polite, and calm. He knows what needs to be done and does it; or gets someone else to do it if they need to. He’s got some good character defining moments to look at. Egging Aradia on to kill Vriska, egging Tavros on to kiss Vriska, oh- and let’s not forget the long history of violence; take your pick as to which one you like best.

Unfortunately there isn’t a ton to say about him beyond that. I mean he’s cool. But at the end of the day he’s kind of a.... quintessential member of the Midnight Crew.

So with that out of the way, Diamonds Droog is a......

A Maid of Mind is going to be mostly concerned with making things happen around them. Someone who pushes things along because the alternative is that nobody does anything. This also comes with the added point of being separate from the aspect themselves. That might be a little confusing when talking about Mind though. DD isn’t mindless after all, so how does he fit into that part of the role? 

He does in... well a few ways I suppose. He is a little mindless in that he just wants to see shit happen. I’m thinking of when he was coaching Aradia and Tavros here. He didn’t know the full story and he didn’t come up with a plan for them. He just kind of... wanted it to happen. For them to do stuff for the sake of it. Funnily enough I think he takes the “Mindless” out of “Mindless violence” in most of his encounters though. It’s certainly where he goes first but it’s also usually because he’s trying to get something done.

If you're referring to fans overlooking it, that's because we have little to no solid knowledge of what a Mage actually is. If you're referring to canon overlooking it... Classic Hussie moment. Hussie never really elaborated much on Classpects as a Magic System.

In Sovereignstuck at least, Mage is the Active counterpart to Seer. Defined simply as this:

Mages have a very unique understanding of and relationship with their Aspect, and they very much so utilize it on purpose. Seers tend to try to explore their Aspect through the opposite one - Rose seeking Void, Terezi seeking Heart - but Mages are much more steadfast and linear in their approach. Base Aspect all the way, baby.
