market day: 02, the final day!
the kamealoha siblings enjoy mae's sweet berry waffles and lemonade on the final day of the weekend market. they also partake in some chestnut ridge gossip with a local named devin
karlee does a few more portraits before the day is done, including one for an older brother and a cheeky little sister (karlee thinks they're both very puppy-like and can't help but to tease libby)
mae by @pearlean devin by @maelfe jack & libby by @squea

Hear me out… What do you think about lonely avatar Odysseus?
We have the lost at sea, the dead friends, the trapped alone (with calypso but honestly I think he would have rather been alone) on an island for several years, the appearing through the fog, etc. etc.
I could see him being friends with Martin ngl

So, there is a version of the myths around the Iliad where Palamedes (guy who stuck Telemachus in front of a plow to get Odysseus to stop pretending he was crazy and avoid the draft--we hate this guy) (or friends of his) spread some rumors in some of the commanders' hometowns that their husbands had found and fell in love with beautiful concubines, and intended to replace their wives/queens with these concubines when they returned home.
Clytemnestra, wife of Agamemnon, and Agialia, wife of Diomedes, both believed these rumors, and reacted accordingly. I can't account for Agamemnon's character, I don't know him all that well, but I thought, wouldn't it be hilarious if the "beautiful concubine" sneaking into Diomedes' tent was simply Odysseus, whom a lot of my friends headcanon was not really able to grow a full beard til the end of the war.

He's pretty proud of his new disguise, I think.

(And while I'm at it, here's another shot of cc unlikely to be spotted. I have one shot clearly framed just to show it off but it might still get cut.)
Beulah's hilarious. She surely did give Homer a good grab right before she said cheese for the camera! It was all right and proper. The vows had been said...they were on their way! No family or friends to bear witness, of course. They weren't even in their hometown. But...they were together and together they had a future.
Now, it might look like they're dressed from an even farther back past than this was, but Beulah always was an old-fashioned sort and Homer didn't have any clothes to suit the life he was embarking on so he packed a quick bundle with 'some-things old' but completely unsentimental. Symbolic perhaps, for thumbing his nose at generations of the legacy he was flouting, but unsentimental in its memorial of them while he stood beside his bride, ready to create their new legacy.

VeronaHills, Round Seven: Land
Teenage boys getting up to mischief: Homer remembers being one, and he wasn't promoted to detective for nothing.
Scot was clearly dipping his toes in a play of the village field. There'd been some interest in Virginia Beech, and now he was putting the moves on a Capp girl. That there was a stark difference between son and father: Homer only ever had eyes for Beulah. However, Homer put that down to modern dating dynamics over Scot being some kind of two-timer. His sons knew better - and River, fresh into his teen years, didn't seem overly interested in that sort of thing (yet).
More pressing things came about for the Land family when Mary heaved herself out of the pool one afternoon and cried out for help.
Beulah came to Mary's side first. "Lord, help Mary be strong as she brings this baby into our world," she said in a low, strong voice.
"Mama, I appreciate that," Mary replied through gritted teeth, "but I need a doctor right now, not Jesus!"
Baby Eartha arrived with the delivery aid of a doctor and the spiritual aid of Beulah's persistent prayers. When Mary could finally retreat to her room for uninterrupted bonding, she felt completely and utterly vindicated.
A baby of her own. Not looking after baby siblings.
Her baby.

Last winter I made dating sprites for some of the Greek gods :} Order of appearance: Demeter, Aphrodite, Dionysus, Apollo, Zeus.
I did it for a class, and wrote out some diologue for the sim as well, only to realize that I basically sent a y/n fanfic to my professor. He had to read second person writing for 5 different characters flirting with HIM. Why did I do that ?!?!😭 I got so fixated on the idea of creating the sim I didn’t think about who my audience was. So I kinda closed these sketchbook pages for half a year and tried to forget about it LOL. I still don’t even know what my grade was. I think I passed the class. I can’t ever take a class of his again, what if he asks me about it? What if he showed the other profs and giggled? I wonder what route he would have picked for the characters. Anyway.
When I have some free time I might make this into an actual sim! I’m too proud of the character designs to bury it forever. I based a lot of it on actual ceramics and statuary of these gods in antiquity, as well on literary descriptions of them in Homer. I’ll just have to live with the embarrassment of the origin story haha 😭

Recreated a scene from the first chapter of my friend’s fic:
Starring Helenus, Diomedes and Odysseus.
I did end up switching Diomedes to a longer hairstyle. I think he looks darn good.
