A couple of weeks ago, I bought a quart of heavy cream and churned my own butter at home a few times with my stand mixer. According to the good folks at King Arthur Flour, this was both the easiest way to churn your own butter at home, but also the messiest, so be sure to cover your mixer with at least one tea towel.

I have a lot of thoughts on the process, the results, and how this all plays into the modern tradwife trend, but I’m working on a larger essay about it and I’ll share that when I finally have all of my thoughts fully articulated, but to give you a preview: I’m not a fan of any of this shit!

My TikTok fyp is now how to make homemade butter with a stand mixer. I think it's telling me something. I think I gotta try to make homemade butter. This will either be so bad or so good.

Is it hard to make homemade butter? what do you do with the buttermilk? do you drink it?

Its pretty easy!(Well to me it is) I use my homemade aid mixer that I got from my grandma, (it was hers<3) and just let it whip until its butter!

The buttermilk I put in a mason jar and put it in the fridge! I use it when I make my homemade banana bread, pasta, or even in my coffee <3
