i wouldn’t say i’m doing particularly well right now and i dont’ really have anyone to comfortablyl talk to right now......

i guess i’m just lonely. i wish i was at home more often because at least my mom really enjoys my company. there’s just little things about living at school that kind of hurt my feelings every day. like hearing the sound of ping pong balls in the lobby. and coming home to a quiet empty room. i need help cleanign my room soon. my therapist is moving away. it feels like it’s just me out here and i have to support everyone else’s plots and no one’s in my corner.

i hope i’m slowly getting better. i’m still crying, but i did go out and eat today by myself. i haven’y really done that before. going to bed is hard.

I found a job

I'm working in a nursery home during August. Before I start I need to learn how things are done, so I have gone there to learn and practice three days (of course, they're not paying for this hours lol). These are some things that have happened during this time:

In my first day, an old lady who suffers from ethier Alzheimer was very kind to me, smiled while hugging her plush dog and asked me “are you coming to the funeral?” To which I, naturally, replied “oh yes, I am” She smiled and nodded.

A moment later, another lady sitting next to her told me “oh, tú tienes mucho camino recorrido, ¿a que sí?” which literrally translates to “oh, you have come a long way, don’t you?” However, the expression sometimes has the connotation of one who has a long experience in life or in sex. I told her I had come a loooooong way.

A man told me I looked like Corinna (I think he reffered to Corinna Larsen). And no, I look nothing like her.

A man who uses a wheelchair and can barely talk but is otherwise fine came to the receptionist, who keeps his cigarrettes and has order of giving him only one in the morning and one in the evening, asking for his “little relief”.

A lady told the nurse who was accompaining her to a rutinary hispital checkout that she “didn’t need to have her heart revised” and that the one who should be having her heart checked is the nurse because she is in love.

That lady also has a crush on one of the nurses, a young boy. If you ask her, she completely denies it.

There is a man who comes to the day center (basically about a dozen elders who spend the day here but then return to spend the nights at their homes) just so he can see his wife who lives in the first floor (where residents suffering from Alzheimer, dementia and other serious illnesses live). Everyday, he goes to her, walks her around and as far as I’ve seen, they spend the whole day together. He attends her needs as much as he can though he also has his own diseases and struggles.

First floor is incredibly depressing.

There’s this one man who is very thin and looks very fragile. He has some big spots in his arms, of brown and pruple-ish colors. He is bald and has little, lost yet piercing eyes, and a small mouth and nose. He walks slowly, with the help of a stick. His lips are curved inwards in a way that makes me believe he has no teeth. Every morning, he comes to reception, stays quietly there, in the middle, like a shadow, and then leaves after staring at the door, not a single word spoken. I think I overheard his name today. There’s something sympathetic abuout him and I want to know who he is. I wish I could read his thoughts.

An man who is very, very forgetful goes everyday asking the recepptionis for his daughter’s or his son’s telephone numbers. He says he wants to call so they will take him out of the nursery home. Every evening he tries calling, for some reason he usually messes up and ends up calling reception.

The families are usually the worst.

Everyday, a little poster is renewed saying the date, weather and celebrated saint for that day. It includes a quote, coming from this one agenda in reception. Today’s quote was “As happens with beer, exported Germans are no better in quality”. Go figure.

Almost the whole staff is female. More than half of the residents are also women.

There’s a huge, and very noticeable difference between the staff who comes from lower-class (cleanign staff, for example) as opposed by the obviously middle/upper-middle class staff (doctor, psychologist, director).

The male residents that pass by reception stare at me with a mix of creepy stare and genuinely curious look.

Will asked to no one in particular as he brought the fifth, maybe sixth, cup of cheap tasting beer to his lips, but a hand took it away.

“That is enough for you.”, Nico’s eyebrows furrowed. “I don’t want you puking all over the place when we get back to the flat.”

Nico kept talking, but the words were drowned out by the loud music and the fact that Will was very distracted by how good Nico looked. .

No. He’s your best friend. You can’t do that, Solace.

He’s your very pretty best friend that you want to be your boyfriend and kiss and cuddle and…

“Are you even listening, Will?”, Nico’s fingers snapped in front of his face, “Come on. I told you going to this party was a bad idea. You have a class tomorrow, for the gods’ sake. If you throw up in the car, I’ll kill you.”

Will puked on the ride home.

Will was half unconcious when Nico dragged him into their flat.

His eyes suddenly opened when he landed on a bed with an oomph.

“Stay there. I’m gonna shower, because someone puked all over me and my car.” Nico turned his back from Will’s reeking body.

“I said I’m sorry.”, Will said, which was muffled by the cushions, so it sounded like ‘I seumsowee.’

Their shared shower started running.

Nico took long showers. Will remembered it was Random Nico Fact #48.

Will turned so he laid on his back . He was still a little tipsy, but he just noticed they were in Nico’s room.

Then, he suddenly had a horrible realization.

Where was his phone?

It wasn’t like he neeeded his phone in his hand 24/7, but he didn’t know where it was and he couldn’t afford a new one. A college student with plans on going to med school can’t afford to lose thier phone and buy a new one.

He double checked his pockets and his jacket. Nothing.

Then, he noticed a drawer in Nico’s dresser open. He probably put in there.

A wave of relief overtook Will’s mind.

It was sat there next to Nico’s phone and a small handsized notebook.

He’s never seen the notebook before, and Will never snooped around in anyone’s buisness ever, but something about him made him want to see what the pages held.

He flipped through the tiny book. The pages were covered in Nico’s neat slanted writing. From the dates, Will connected the dots and realized that Nico kept a diary. It was strangely endearing. He found an entry relitavely recent, about two weeks ago.

Feb. 16

I can’t get him out of my mind.

Will took a sharp breath. Who the hell was ‘he?’

He’s so beautiful in every single way, but so damn clueless.

Jealousy raced through his veins. This guy couldn’t possibly deserve Nico. No one deserved Nico.

I wanna tell him how I feel, but I just can’t. I’ll ruin everything. I can’t, but sometimes I just want to grab his face and kiss him. And say, “I love you Will.”

The little notebook slipped from his fingers. That little diary entry sobered him right up. Millions of thoughts raced through his head.

Nico loved him.

He loved him.

Nico di Angelo loved him.

And Will loved Nico, too.

The bathroom door opened, and a steam poured out into the bedroom.

“Will, what happned you okay?”, Nico voice interrupted his thoughts.

Will bent down and picked up the diary. He heard Nico take in a sharp breath.

“What are you doing with that, Will?”, Nico’s voiced, heavy with fear.

Will turned to face him. Nico looked stunning. He only wore a white tank top and baggy sweats, which to Will’s delight were his. His hair still dripping from the shower. He was absoluetly enchanting.

“I’m sorry for reading it, Neeks, but- Well, I just wanted to say- I promise you that I’m not drunk anymore. I wanted to tell you this for so long… Fuck it, I love you, too.”, Will said, heart racing.

Nico stared at him with those big brown eyes.

He stared and stared.

Will’s stomach clenched with every passing second.

Did he get it wrong?

Was it another Will?

Since when did Nico know another Will?

Just as he opened his mouth to say that it was all a mistake, that he had it all wrong, a blur of dark hair raced towards Will.

Nico hugged him, softly laughing. “So it took you reading my diary to finally confess? You’re so typical, Solace, and I love you.”

Will’s shoulders relaxed from carrying the weight of the world. A crazed giddy smiled painted his face.

He hugged the smaller boy, breathing in his fresh scent.

“Can I kiss you?”, he ran his hands through Nico’s hair.

“No. You smell.”, Nico said, lightly pushing Will away.

Will pouted. “So after I shower?”

“I’ll think about it.”, Nico smiled up at him.

Will never got up to shower so fast. His hurry to get to the bathroom made a laugh bubble out of NIco’s throat, “Someone’s excited.”

Just as the door to the bathroom closed, “Don’t forget you’re cleanign my car tomorrow, Solace. Just because you’re my boyfriend now, doesn’t mean you’re off the hook.”

Boyfriend.

He liked the sound of that.

The entire walk back home to the dingy flat had been silent and Qi Yue had been agonizing over how Jiaying was going to finally puncture it, and she was beginning to wonder if she was going to have to take it upon herself to do so. After her sister had come down to the jail to bust her out on bail, Qi Yue had to wonder how she had even found out about it. Probably figured after her sister had been missing a few days that the jail was one of the most likely places to check in order to find her. 

Qi Yue hadn’t used her one phone call to alert anyone – not Jiaying nor Rose, really the only two people who were even in her life. Both of them more than she deserved. Nineteen years old and she still was stumbling around, unable to figure anything out. Convinced onc more that she was forever going to be stuck in the gutter, how could she call either of them for a helping hand for them to try and carry her out of the own shitty mess that she had made? Rose was busy with practice with the Quidditch season starting up soon and Jiaying had her own life, spreading her kindness around the world – and all of it was merely an excuse and a piss poor one at that. 

And she knew it. 

Jiaying had been stuck with her since birth. Their mother had even said once that Qi Yue had practically been born dangerously feet first, practically holding onto the ankle of her sister as if ready to hit the ground running to hold onto her. When they had been younger, it had been easier to rationalize sticking to Jiaying’s side like glue. They were all each other had in a cruel world where their parents wouldn’t protect them but instead exploited Jiaying and her abilities.

Jiaying had needed her then. If only to be her shield Then they had grown and Jiaying had found her own voice, stubborn as she was, and Qi Yue had begun to realize that she could only hinder her sister, not help her. 

What good were fists of fury when they only wound up inevitably hitting the few people she cared for in the face? She didn’t have gentle hands like Jiaying, never had, never would. 

Her hands were currently haphazardly wrapped in gauze, make-shift work that the jail had done to stop the bleeding from the gashes on her knuckles where glass had sliced them open. She kept them pressed to her sides as Jiaying opened up Qi Yue’s flat with her copy of the key.

Qi Yue pushed her way inside after her sister, glancing over at her as Jiaying began cleanign up the clutter around the kitchen and finally breaking the silence. “You not going to say anything? Scold me, whatever?” She pursed her lips, ready to begin the arguing, unsure if she even had the energy for it. 

“I love you,” her sister instead countered, exasperation clear in her voice. “But don’t you ever get tired of this?” 

Qi Yue knew how to fight. It was the one thing she really knew how to do. Yet she still hadn’t discovered how to fight for herself. Throwing up a shrug, she didn’t respond to her sister’s affections. 

“I’m going to take a shower,” she responded flatly, making a beeline for the bathroom. The water had been due to be cut off that weekend because she had once again neglected to pay the bill, but there was a window that was attached to the fire escape that she could crawl out of.
