The sky was blue, the birds were awake and flying, the ocean was calm but Nina's heart was running 100 km per hour. Everything looked serene and safe but it was far from the truth. She only had one shot at this and now it was gone. Okay maybe she was being a little dramatic, there was still a chance to complete the assignment she was here for but the odds were against her.

Dan Mitchel one of the most famous businessman of the world was here on the same cruise with Nina, it was no coincidence, oh no, this was all meant to happen, Nina was supposed to, if lucky, get close to Roberto otherwise keep a safe distance and wait for the right timing to assassinate him. It was a simple in and out situation. By the time someone would've found his body Nina would've been on the road as the nearest port was one day's journey.

While the world saw Mr. Mitchel as a savvy businessman the reality was he was a god damn arms dealer. To cover up his illegal work he had a front business related to fuel distribution. His death was supposed to be a clean one, one depicted as heart attack, safe, so no one woukd expect it had anything to do with the Ravkan government.

But it seems as if Mr. Fancy Gun seller was well in contact with the Fjerdas.

The whole cruise was swarming with Fjerdan soldiers, Nina had no doubt there were more disguised as normal population. Roberto had two bodyguards and two more men surrounding him all the time he was out of his room. The two other men were no doubt part of Fjerdan government, Jarl Burm, general of Fjerda's army whom she recognized easily and another young man, around her age, whom she had got to know as Matthias Helvar after contacting her senior for briefing for the current mess of a situation.

Zoya had been pissed and told Nina to drop her orders after receiving the message, telling her not to jeopardize herself or the mission. Nina's new orders were to stand down and get to know more about Mr. Subtle-terrorist here, all while avoiding the Fjerdan supermodel lookalike soldiers. It was gonna be easy, she already knew these men were all meat no brains, she wasn't overconfident, (okay maybe a little but) it was obvious they sensed no danger, they all were loose on their weapons, the Fjeran men with Dan were without any visible weapons, the only men that looked threatening enough to run for the hills were the couple uptight bodyguards surrounding the three men. Nina could handle that.

24 hours to plant a bug on Dan and get the hell out of here.

Matthias was beaming, it was a nice day and things were going to be amazing tomorrow when they reach the docks. One of the major deals between Fjerda and Eslme corp were to be closed and there was nothing in the way. Matthias was happy for his country finally recovering from long wars and thriving, it truly was a bright day.

Everything was perfect except for this tingling feeling of someone watching them with close eyes at the back of his head. Matthias ignored it, in his 7 years of on field duty he knew never to be stupid enough to dismiss his instincts but he was aware of the looming threat they could receive with them being soldiers and Mr. Mitchel being an international businessman, it tends to attract unwanted attention. He was ready for any sort of threat as always, with two knives strapped to his shoulder and HK VP9 9mm handgun in his shoulder holster he was fully covered.

"I think its time we should have our lunch and after we can decided the conditions of our deal." Mr. Mitchel said taking a sip from his drink. It was 12:30 in the noon and this guy was on his second glass of alcohol. Something to keep sane, Matthias thought to himself. It was easily to tell Mr. Arms dealer was a shady man, Matthias had a problem with that but his boss had said this was the mission, close the deal with Dan and provide him security, that's it nothing more. Matthias didn't argue further his boss was not only his senior but also his mentor and he believed in him, his duty was to take orders and he would gladly do that.

"Yes Mr. Mitchel that would be perfect." Jarl inclined his hand forward urging Dan to walk ahead of them. "While we are at lunch, Mr. Helvar here would keep an eye on you suite, we don't want any intruders messing with your luggage." Code for, no one is messing with the documents which will be ours once we close the deal. The documents had Ravkan weaknesses, their flaws, secret associations etc. They didn't plan on starting another war but that didn't mean Ravka wasn't interested, it is a safety precaution which at some time could be used as a bargaining chip.

"That is wonderful Mr. Brum." Dan pulled out a cigarette from his breast pocket, what was with this guy and intoxication, knowing he might have a target on his back, all the damn time. It wasn't Matthias job but it is easier to protect someone who isn't out of their mind. He plucked the cigarette out of his hand and threw it in the dustbin near. "Sorry Mr. Mitchel but you asked for our protection and we are saving you so it would be better maybe get high after we've made shore, eh?" Matthias waited for him to get angry or scream at him but he boomed with laughter.

"Oh Jarl I like him. He's good." He is still laughing as they walk away.

Matthias did not like this at all but he had no say in such matters, he was still young and still learning the ways of politics and countries.

He sighed and turned back around to face the closest guys behind him. "Stigg, Magnus Opjer, go down to Mr. Mitchel's sleeping quarters. I'll be there in a minute." Both inclined their heads and followed out. He did a sweep of the upper docks and started walking towards the staircase leading to Roberto's suite when someone bumped into him. "I'm sorry." It was a sweet feminine sound that caught his attention. Matthias was tall so he had to glance down to see a women had crashed into him but was steady now. They was wearing one of those floppy hats almost covering their whole face, but he got a peak of long brown hair. Before he could comfort them for apologizing they were gone. Matthias brushed off the awkwardness and started walking towards his intended job.

It was 4 in the evening and Jarl and Dan still hadn't returned from their "lunch" Matthias was getting anxious, it was too dangerous for them to be in one place for too long. Stigg had confirmed that both of the men were still in the restaurant, drowning one drink after another. Apparently his boss believed there was no threat on the ship but Matthias's gut was saying otherwise. Maybe he was just being paranoid, maybe just like his boss thought that their enemies were to intimidated to play any games. He sighed and decided to agree to his internal monologue instead of his sub conscious.

"Hey, guys why don't you take a break, I'll keep an eye alone for a while. Doesn't feel like much is going to happen anyway." Matthias called from his security position in the small office in Dan's suite, the place was small with one desk and Fjerda's future security lying on that desk just in front of Matthias. "You sure about that Helvar?" Magnuson called from just outside the door.

"Yeah its fine. Just don't slacker off too far, remember what happened last time. I'll call if there's something."

He could hear snickers outside at Matthias's jab and he too had a smile on his face as some fun memories with his colleagues passed through his brain.

The uptight Fjerdan's were clearing out, five soldiers walked out of Dan's suite leaving only two guards outside for Nina to tackle.

Finally. Nina thought, finally these assholes were leaving their posts realizing there was no such threat for 8 freaking soldiers to be on guard all the time. Plus Mr. Gangster was sitting in restaurant getting shit faced with their boss. What are their guarding? Nina asked herself, then shook out that thought, it was not her task to find that. It was simple in and out. Plant a tracker on Dan and then leave the ship next day, even if by any chance they find the chip there would be no trace it came from Nina so she'd be safe, mission success or not.

She was in all black clothes with a hood over her head, it was not dark yet but the sun wasn't shining, clouds were in the sky, draping the landscape in grey color. She was armed but with just one dagger and a tranquilizer dark gun, it was a stealth mission not an assassination. The guards were all out, just two were left. This is going to be easy.

Nina walked down the only corridor that lead to the king suite, the guards were talking to each other, while they were distracted, Nina pulled her gun and shot both of them. Both falling like dead on the ground. She dragged both the bodies and locked them in the storage closet so by the time they woke up and realized what has happened Nina would be long gone.

She pulled out a master key she's stolen from the big Fjerdan when she bumped into him purposefully. Careful not to mess up anything she quitely started walking towards the bedroom. One tracker on his clothes, one on his suit case and one on anything other he carried.

The bed room was through the living room with sofas. another door was there adjacent to the living room, she thought would be work office she'd seen in the blue prints of the suite. She would check that out later.

That was the first mistake she made, not checking all the doors to weed out threats. After that it was all series of unfortunate events.

Just as the passed the door in the hallway, it bursted open. A hand grabbed her waist from behind and pulling her inside the room, pinning her on the wall with their large body. She tried to move, wiggle her way out but it was fruitless, her hands were on top of her head, unable to move because of the big hand grabbing them, her feet were wide apart with a huge leg between them, her waist was pressed on the wall with her captor's waist. This is an only sexual position. Nina's brain went out haywiring.

Panicking was not an option so she slumped against the wall, the right opportunity will get her out of here and then she'll have enough time to grill herself for making stupid mistake and being overconfident. Fortunately her hood was still to shielding her face from the huge brick wall pinning her. If she made it out of here alive her identity would still be hidden.

"What the do you think you're doing." Intense masculine whisper filled the silence and Nina didn't need to look up to know who it was, she had realized right that second when a hand had grabbed her that she hadn't seen him leave with the other soldiers. Matthias Helvar, Matthias from whom she'd stolen the key. Shit. She cursed under her breath. "Wow you kiss your mother with that mouth?" She heard the human giant ask and found out that he actually looked repulsed by her swearing. Well that's new, a soldier working with an international terrorist gets offended by the word 'fuck'. She thought.

His grip loosened a little and that was all she needed to get out. She jammed her hands down, before Matthias could react she brought her legs together around Matthias's waist and twisted so she could flip them but unfortunately Matthias's reflexes were faster than she anticipated, so he showed resistance leading for both of them to loose balance and fall.

Matthias had purposfully nudged her a little so he would go down first and she landed on top of his chest with so much force it knocked out all the air from her lungs. What a gentleman. She internally rolled her eyes. "Motherfucking ass." She mumbled and watched Helvar's eyes widen like saucers. "Do you always swear like a heathen?" She ignored him and her body went on fight or flight mode, he brain chose flight and her body complied. She jumped off of Helvar and ran towards the door, hand on the knob, very close to fleeing but a very big hand clamped down on her waist. A weird sense of déjà vu came up and before she could move another muscle Matthias flipped her on the the desk, the only furniture in the room. Her back his the mahogany table with a thud but didn't hurt much, and then Helvar's large body was pinning her in place. Another only sensual position you find yourself in with this hot guy. Her brain commented, and she was certain her internal monologue was nothing but hormones.

"What do you think you're doing?" Helvar asked. Her hood was down, her braid was a mess, his blue eyes were piercing her green ones. "You're the same woman who ran into me a while ago." He seemed to be wondering to himself so Nina didn't bother answering.

"Are you going to try to kill me?" She asked.

"Huh?" Matthias was still trying to put two and two together, but hearing her ask that brought him back to earth. "What? No." He answered honestly. When he'd heard a break in and saw a black figure creeping in he knew it was a woman. he had expected her to be scared and try to save herself, but the women started swearing like a chainsaw and tried to fight him and almost succeeded. That was a first, he was the best at what he didn't some unknown woman wasn't going to best him. "Wait what do you mean 'try'?"

"I mean you haven't called for back up, or altered you senior, so I'm guessing you want to get all the fun with me-" she wiggled her eyebrows suggestively and he pulled back a little. This woman had no modesty and needed her mouth washed out with soap.

"Since you think you have me under you-" another innuendo. "You think you have the upped hand but let me tell you something Mr. Helvar. You. Are. Wrong." Was all she said before she grabbed by his waist yet again and pushed herself off the table gaining momentum. She twisted and now Matthias was under her, he blushed furiously, this was so inappropriate. She was the enemy, he wasn't supposed to be turned on in this situation.

As Matthias tried to take her down again she pulled a dagger to his throat.

"So now that we are at an empass." She took at deep breath and continued "what is you price Mr. Helvar?"

"What are you talking about woman? You can't buy people!" He said frustratedley.

"Of course you can." She squinted at him "your senior Jarl Brum just sold the future of your country to a terrorist. And you say people don't have a price? How naive are you?"

"That's not how-" Matthias halted. "What do you mean 'sold our country'?

Nina rolled her eyes that this man's stupidity, was he not aware what was happening under his roof. Nina being from another country knew very well what was going on.

"Come on Helvar tell me you didn't know what your boss was doing or better yet tell me it wasn't your idea."

"I didn't -" Helvar started but stopped, bitting his lip. Saints he looked absolutely fuckable doing that. Get you your head in the game Nina, she mentally shook out all the unholy image of her on Matthias for different reasons.

"Helvar you are even more dumber than I thought. You should've called for backup." Nina had no idea why she was saying this, making it easier for her to fail.

"Look I don't know what you know, and I don't care if you know this or not but Dan is a fucking terrorist and yes I know I can swear don't give me that look." At this Matthias bit his lip again, he had really gotta stop doing that. "Anyway, Dan will secretly from behind the curtains control your country. He wants war, his business depends on it and the best way to do that is to break the treaty between Ravka and Fjerda-" a creek of door and voices broke her rant. "Fuck." She swore and pulled away from the big Fjerda, yet again a mistake. Helvar caught her arm and pulled her against him.

"Follow me." Helvar practically growled.

That's it, he's finally come to his senses and he is going to hand you over to his boss to be killed.

"Climb" Nina snapped out of her self loathing and looked to see Matthias had opened a window in the room facing the lower deck. "Climb." Matthias hissed. "Okay okay hold your horses." Nina wasn't gonna pass up the opportunity to escape, even if it was at the hands of her enemy. "Why are you doing this?" She asked grateful that this was happening but still confused.

Helvar took a deep breath and said "no one gave me answers to some of my questions except for you, I don't trust you so I have you cross check you facts but its not like you can run some where. So go before I change my mind.

Just as she was about to climb out of the window, Matthias jerked her arm and got in her face "I know you can't leave this ship until tomorrow, so meet me 1:00 at night sharp at the highest deck, I still need more answers. If you don't I will scout the entire ship to find you and then we-" he pointed between us "will not talk, I'll give you over to my commander. Are we clear?"

Nina nodded she would have to kill this motherfucker after all. Tonight.

As if he'd heard her thinking "and don't bring weapons. Trust me I'll know if you have them." He probably didn't mean for it to sound sexual but Nina smirked "okay I got it pretty boy." She winked at him and climbed out just in time as she saw him flustered and mentally high-fived her self.

The humor didn't last long as the reality settled in. Nina was in deep shit.

Dealing With Street Harassment

It happened again. You’re walking home, between class, getting groceries, shopping, or to your car. A man will not stop following you. Maybe it’s a man you know. Maybe it’s a man you’ve never seen before. You tell him repeatedly “leave me alone” and/or “I don’t want to talk with you, GO AWAY”. He doesn’t listen. He keeps following you. Maybe he’s talking over you. Maybe he stalks you silently in mute. You call 911. They say they can’t do anything unless he actually hurts you. There’s no one you can ask for help or no one is willing to help you. You record him following you with your phone, he doesn’t care one bit. You can’t go home because then he’ll know where you live. What do you do?

Here’s the truth: cat calling, street harassment, and public stalking on the street are 100% legal. They’re NOT technically a crime because “there can be no expectation of privacy in public”. 

The other harsh truth is that police do NOT actually “protect and serve”. They uphold the law and catch law breakers (criminals). Therefore they cannot “prevent a crime” only arrest someone AFTER a crime has been committed. The oath police take is just ceremonial words. It’s NOT a contract or law. 

HOWEVER you have 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS TO BEAR ARMS. It’s in the CONSTITUTION. Why aren’t you using them? When your government does nothing YOU must stand up instead of blaming others and having a victim mentality.

Imagine how the world might change if the news started reporting infinite incidents of women shooting their stalkers? 

A man won’t stop following you on the street? Pull out your Glock or HK VP9 (my personal favorites), scream “I FEEL THREATENED”, and then shoot him.

Gun Review: Heckler & Koch VP9 for Concealed Carry (VIDEO)

Known as the people’s pistol the Heckler & Koch VP9 is the German company’s answer to the Glock 19 craze. In an already crowded concealed carry market, though, I was curious how the striker fired pistol actually measured up. Spending some time on and off the range with HK’s pistol, I got an intimate look into the VP9 design.

The Basics and Some Winning Features

Chambered in 9mm, The VP9 features a striker fired design measuring 7.34-inches in length and 5.41-inches in height with a 4.09-in barrel. Tipping scales at 25.56-ounces, the VP9 can pack 15 rounds of ammunition in its magazine, offering plenty of rounds for plinking or concealed carry use. The VP9 also sports a small accessory rail for those interested in throwing on a light/laser combo for low-light shooting situations. The rail is a standard in most midsize, concealed carry pistols; but it’s still nice to see on this platform. I always appreciate a concealed carry gun that can double as a bedside home defense pistol.

Outside of the basics, the VP9 boasts interchangeable backstraps as well as side grip panels that easily swap out for a somewhat customizable grip area. Punching out a pin in at the rear of the grip, the backstrap and panels slide out of place. HK provides customers with two other sizes in the back offering three total sizes – small, medium and large. Being a petite shooter myself, I opted for the smallest size. The change was noticeable. I was no longer overcompensating with my grip and the VP9 instantly felt more comfortable in my hands. I love a platform that understands its customers aren’t all built the same and thus provides options to dial in comfort. Versatility is key in the VP9.

HK could have stopped with the backstraps and still had a winning design, but it continued its features by packaging the platform with a sweet trigger. Breaking around 5 pounds, the trigger brings a smooth, fluid feel that is easy to fire. Additionally, the trigger comes equipped with an integrated safety device that aims to prevent accidental discharges by not engaging the trigger unless depressed.

Normally, the HK sports 3-dot luminous sights; but in the case of this HK VP9, which I nabbed straight from the Guns.com Vault, Trijicon Night Sights sit atop its slide. The sights function extremely well in low light situations and are great even in the middle of the day shooting with the sun overhead. If you can scope out an HK VP9 with those Trijicon sights, grab it up. It makes all the difference!

On the Range and in a Holster

On the range, the VP9 performed exactly how I imagined an HK firearm would – perfectly. It ate several boxes of ammunition and saw several hundred rounds of ammunition pass through its barrel with no stoppages. Even the cheap, dirty ammo that I would never run through my good guns proved no match for the VP9 platform. Having a gun that is not ammo specific and can power through any box is an advantage when it comes down to training. Skipping the overpriced stuff and opting for the more affordable ammo opens the door to extended training sessions that don’t break the bank.

While I appreciated the overall design of the VP9 while firing it, there was at least one area that threw me for a loop – the paddle style mag release. Though my shooting journey started a decade ago with a paddle style release by way of the Walther P22, I am so used to push button mag releases a la Glock, that the paddle style seemed foreign. It’s not a deal breaker by any means but it will be a learning curve for those use to push buttons. The upside to the paddle style, though, is you won’t accidentally engage the mag release while gripping the gun – a quality that even Glock perfection can’t escape.

Speaking of Glock, the VP9 offers a size similar to the Glock 19 offering a midsize platform that can easily accommodate concealed carry. Large and heavy enough to make shooting easier, with diminished recoil, the VP9 also works its way into a holster. Like most midsize platforms, you won’t be sporting a Baby Gap t-shirt, but for every day clothes, it works. The larger size means it is easily accessed on the draw, affording owners no issues while drawing.

Final Thoughts

With a 15-round capacity, elevated sights in certain models and an ergonomic design paired with a clean, crisp trigger the HK VP9 is a straight-up winner with the only downside coming down to price. Retailing for $562, it is pricier than other semi-auto striker-fired pistols out there but if you’re willing to throw down some extra dough, you won’t be disappointed. Also, it’s worth noting that you can often find it a little cheaper if you’re willing to go the used route.

All in all, the VP9 is a functional, comfortable 9mm pistol with the makings of a great concealed carry gun for those that want to step outside of the cliched Glock box.
