Blood splattered across Sierra’s face— She shook herself. “Is Sierra alright?” Holly nodded. “She’s doing quite well, but she’s not up to walking. I made her rest.” “In the infirmary?” said Isi. “Yes.” “I should go there to check on her.” Holly exchanged a glance with Meg that Isi couldn’t read. Then she nodded again. “Sure. Follow me.” Putting one foot in front of the other turned out to be more of a challenge than Isi expected. Her muscles ached, cuts pulled open as she moved, and her head felt like it had been packed with wool. The world blurred and tilted around her. Someone grabbed her arm. In the distance, a long way away, she heard Meg’s voice. “You should go to the infirmary alright, but not for Sierra.” Now there were arms around her back, one on each side. It hurt. Everything hurt, but she was too tired to object. She tried to force her eyes back open, but her eyelids were heavy. Too heavy. They slid closed again, and the world went blissfully quiet.

It’s really great. The same hilarious humour as the first Christmas notch book. Loved the characters, loved seeing the main and supporting characters from the first book again and learning about new supporting characters. Perfect amount of humour Christmas and spice.

I’m just not in the mood for the 3rd act complication. Would have preferred a 3rd act break up to what actually happened in the plot. I was disinterested in it from that point on and forced myself to finish because I know there’s another one and I didn’t want to miss any hints. Sorry for the 3 stars but that plot point just personally depressed me.

quartermane is an interesting one... i dont really think about him because tbh i kinda had to skip past all his dialogue when i was on my death bc my buddy wanted to speedquest im so sorry quartermane fans...my storm is getting close to lemuria so this time i'll make sure to sit back and listen a bit more though! even then im not safe because his "TO ADVENTURE" still haunts me in my sleep.

in all honesty i actually have NO clue exactly how my wizards would interact with dyvim because uh tbh khrysalis is a bit or a blur to me in all cases so i dont really remember much nor have many thoughts abt the NPCs (which i'll have to fix soon for Cethin's lore) but lets just say they all think he's cool and like him very much as a basis and ill figure it out another day

She loves Quartermane's energy, as she is rather loud herself. Calls Alicia a bit of a hypocrite for disliking Quartermane for his noise despite being almost as equally loud as him and Rika in situations.

Gets in to in depth conversations with Quartermane about Celestia, whereas she won't share a word with the actual Spiral Geographic Society because she doesn't like how they invaded her world and caused Problems.

Sierra LifeBloom - positive

After Alicia, Morgan and Destiny save Pork and Quartermane, she swaps out her position with Alicia by her request and thus goes to help Ivan and Dyvim instead with Rika. She didn't believe that "the four of them can talk that much" - she does now.

She is rather soft-spoken, so conversations between her and Quartermane typically result in him interrupting her accidentally before apologising and telling her to continue with what she was saying. "Apologies, my friend! What was it you were saying?"

Kestrel SunPyre - neutral

Growing up Marleybonian, she heard all about the great Stallion Quartermane and how he helped start the Geographic Society and discover distant worlds. She is tired of hearing about Marleybonians, especially since she was forced to grow up with proper manners like the dog instead of the "rowdy, stinky nature of those street cats".

She is aware his legacy isn't entirely his fault and instead how the Marleybonians pick a person and idolise them as a pinnacle of evolving their society, but it doesnt change the fact she's had to hear about him so much. It doesn't upset her when Morgan talks about him however, its just when the dogs do it.

As someone who prefers quiet, the amount of noise that Quartermane makes greatly upsets her. He's loud and obnoxious, which is something that Holly doesn't like.

They at least somewhat appreciate his enthusiasm and dedication to research and discovery however,

She voted to keep Quartermane in the block of ice because she "didn't like his vibes", promptly being the only one to pay attention to what the Old One was saying on the console while the rest argued.

Morgan LegendHunter - POSITIVE

As the resident lorekeeper and history nerd, they lost their absolute minds upon seeing Quartermane and realising that he was still alive after his mysterious disappearance.

Was the first one to mention thawing him out, starting the whole argument as they tried to convince the others it'd be best to thaw him out.

Thrilled to see him again in Selenopolis, catching up with him about if he's found any new worlds and whatnot and how the rest of the Heroes of Lemuria are going.

"The first and only fungus on a global conservation outfit’s ’25 Most Wanted List’ has been found in the rain-soaked mountains of Chile, almost 40 years after it was first documented.

The big puma fungus is actually quite small, and despite being on the ’25 Most Wanted List’ it’s also rather unremarkable, being slightly greyish brown, and no bigger than a shitake.

GNN is always abreast of updates to the brilliant conservation initiative Search for Lost Species which has rediscovered several wondrous species of plants and animals through collaborative scientific expeditions to look for forms of life not seen in over ten years.

The big puma fungus (Austroomphaliaster nahuelbutensis), an enigmatic species of fungi that lives underground in Chile’s Nahuelbuta Mountains had only ever been found in the wild once.

An expedition team from the Fungi Foundation in Chile set out for the temperate forests of the Nahuelbutas in May 2023 to retrace the footsteps of Chilean mycologist Norberto Garrido, who discovered the big puma fungus and described it to Western science in 1988.

They timed the expedition to coincide with the exact dates in May that Garrido had hiked the mountains more than 40 years earlier.

“It’s possible that the reproductive parts of the big puma fungus—the mushroom—are only fleetingly visible above the soil on the same few days each year, which made the timing of the expedition a crucial factor,” said Claudia Bustamante, a mycologist, and member of the expedition team.

The expedition was captured in a documentary called In Search of a Lost Fungus, in which viewers can see how a last-minute day hike organized near a local Nahuelbutas community led to the big puma fungus’ eventual discovery.

On the last day of the expedition, the Fungi Foundation led a workshop and a community hike to look for fungi in a nearby forest. During that hike, two of the local participants found a group of about four mushrooms that all matched the description of the big puma fungus.

The expedition team carefully collected the mushrooms, leaving the mycelium in the ground, and took the mushrooms to the Fungi Foundation’s fungarium (FFCL). Although the mushrooms matched the physical and microscopical description of the big puma fungus, it was a DNA analysis that eventually confirmed the team had found the correct species.

“We knew it was going to be hard to find the big puma fungus and that the chances of finding the mushrooms were low, considering their colors and how they blend with the fallen leaves,” said Daniela Torres, programs lead at the Fungi Foundation and leader of the expedition.

“It was truly a unique moment when we managed to be in the right place at the right time to see the mushrooms. Understanding the biodiversity that exists and interacts within a specific area helps us comprehend its behavior and its potential to adapt to ongoing changes and underlying threats.”

Since 2017, the Search for Lost Species has rediscovered 13 of the world’s most wanted lost species. In addition to the big puma fungus, Re:wild, working with partners across the world, has confirmed the rediscovery of Jackson’s climbing salamander in Guatemala, both Wallace’s giant bee and the velvet pitcher plant in Indonesia, the silver-backed chevrotain in Vietnam, the Somali sengi in Djibouti, the Voeltzkow’s chameleon in Madagascar, Fernandina giant tortoise in the Galápagos, Sierra Leone crab in Sierra Leone, the Pernambuco holly tree in Brazil, Attenborough’s echidna in Indonesia, De Winton’s golden mole in South Africa and Fagilde’s trapdoor spider in Portugal."
