🎵🎶And the Haters Gonna Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. But the Heroes Gonna Train, train, train, train, train. Baby I’m just trying to chill, for real.
—————
You could not find any reason to be bothered by school or work on this vacation however, your childhood friends could not seem to share in that sentiment with you . . . ———
you were busy lounging on deck, sipping a mimosa while the boys did laps around the boat. the constant splashing and competitive bickering completely manageable with your drink and book in hand. Mr. Bakugou also stood out on deck grilling up the mornings catch for lunch. His own little handheld radio out beside him as he watched the sizzling smoke and drippings of the fish. except either the radio was getting softer or the bickering and splashing was getting a lot-
“This is pretty fucking brillant, Deku. We can brawl out here no problem!” “Brawl?! Kacchan,”
boom. “ this is supposed to be routine sparing!” whoosh. “Hah? Fine. I’ll still beat you though! Land, air, or water!” Boom. Boom. Crack. Whooshing. Snap.
Masaru sighed, turning up the volume of the radio.
you hummed along to his exasperated sentiment. Focusing on trying not to let their fight distract you - you were just getting into the good part! Izuku and Katsuki fought each other like something straight out of a comic book. Katsuki’s glittering orange palms and Izuku’s glowing green tendrils as the two clashed in the sky. eventually plummeting back down into the ocean with a splash so violent that you and Mr. Bakugou nearly jumped out of your skin. Salty pellets of water misting down from the sky and creating that misty rainbow from the childhood garden hose. The two of you locked eyes before reoccupying yourself with your previous tasks. The slaps of wet feet approaching as they climbed back onto the deck of the ship. the drippings started splashing onto your page- gosh darn it! you were in the middle of the climax! You hastily tried waving them off with your freehand. “you better acknowledge them y/n. Stubborn as you kids all are, they’re just gonna keep crowding around you like that until you’re all drenched.” you groaned and shut your eyes. Uncle Masaru was right. “Fine. What do you two want?” “well we wanted to lift some weight.” Katsuki. you turned another page, “so? Go ahead, you won’t bother me one bit. As long as you do it over there,” you pointed, “so you don’t keep getting me wet.” “Y/N, but we need something to lift.” Izuku this time.
you groaned, slotting your finger between the pages as you turned to look at them. Wet hair brushed back to reveal their foreheads. A rare sight for Katsuki. A distinctly familiar look in both their eyes. Your eyes flashed between their faces, “aaaannd what does that have to do with me?” you huffed. A boyish grin spread across both of their faces. “Senior, you’re the perfect weight.” Katsuki chipped, Izuku nodding along enthusiastically. “I’m sorry, what?” Izuku beamed holding his hands together as he begged you with his puppy dog eyes, “Come on N/N, it’ll just be some push-ups-“
“- and dead lifts” Katsuki interjected. “-and you can even continue reading your book! We just need you to sit on our backs.” Katsuki added again, “actually, I need you to stay like a log. Don’t think y’can read on that one.” your mouth dropped as you stared them down. Okay, so this was real. You threw your hands up, “Of course, who brings weights onto a houseboat in the middle of the ocean when you have a perfectly good childhood friend to use.” “and- hey wait a minute don’t you have each other?” Kacchan groaned as Izuku answered, “well it doesn’t work that way because the other person does their abs and we flip off so we’re getting it done together, but not at the same time-“ Kacchan leaned down into your face, with a lopsided smirk, “Y/N if you don’t get up and put that book down I’m gonna pick you up right now and change gears to doing cardio because I’m gonna tickle you. Do y’er understand?” Izuku leapt to your defense, “Wait! You said we wouldn’t force her by tickling!” “ohhhh we always force her by tickling -“
That was enough incentive for you to leap out of your chair and attempt to make a head start and run away . . . you wriggled and wheezed in Katsukis arm as he held you up in the air with only one arm. Mercilessly holding up his other hand to your side, “wait, waaait. No, no, no!”
He chuckled, “what’d ya’ think you gonna do? Outrun two pro heroes? Tch- not so smart college girl. Sick her, Izuku.” Panic flared through your body as Izuku kneeled on the ground next to your kicking legs. They were gonna get two of your tickle spots at once, your tummy and the underside of your feet. Evil boys. “No. Please!” you wheezed wriggling against the single arm python around your torso. His fingers fluttering against every soft spot of your body, wiggling his nose into the crook of your neck as you shove against his hold. “I don’t know Y/N this works pretty well! Kacchan and I can swap out too.” Suddenly your ankle was caught and you gasped. An BIG mistake because the second you did that wet lips latched onto your neck blowing raspberries into your sensitive spot and more feather touches crawled their way from the bottom of your foot to behind your knee. Katsuki somehow found the oxygen to yell as his head came up between a sloppy and slobbery assault on your neck, “fucking brillant.”

Yuletide 2023 Letter
Happy Holidays, Yuletide writer! If you are here, you are presumably interested in the same small fandom, so that’s exciting.
AO3 account: pinnacles
General likes:
Canon pastiche - I enjoy the style/general vibe of everything I’ve requested
Dialogue! I like the characters to do plenty of talking to each other
Humour of all varieties, from obscure puns to slapstick sequences
Minor canon divergence with major consequences
Being surprised, as a reader, by something unexpectedly weird
Outsider POVs (I’m fine with non-requested-character POVs of requested characters, if anything along those lines appeals to you)
Winter and/or Christmas vibes (big fan of both)
Mysteries, puzzles, and anything else that makes me curious about what’s really going on
Stories that start out very mundane (suspiciously mundane, even) and then escalate steadily
3rd or 1st person, past tense - I like 1st person takes on 3rd person canons, just not a big fan of present tense
Epistolary fic and other things that play around with format
Stories that take place entirely on one day
Stories with a specific structure that's laid out at the start - e.g. 5+1, but also anything else that explains its structure in the summary, headings or opening sequence.
General dislikes: (not hard DNWs, I've indicated those by fandom)
Grief/loss as a major theme
AUs that completely change the setting/overall vibe (but I leave this up to your judgment - if you take this as a challenge to write, for example, Boxcar Children in ancient Greece in the most Boxcar Children way possible, you should absolutely go for it)
Big timeskips/covering a long period of time very fast (e.g. 5 years in 1k - I'd rather it was 5 days or 5 hours in 1k)
Unrequested non-canon pairings
Stories with minimal dialogue
REQUESTS
Stop Press Hugo Toplady, Timmy Eliot
This is one of my favourite books of all time. It’s so ridiculous and self-indulgent. I’ve requested Timmy Eliot and Hugo Toplady because my main complaint with this book is that their interactions aren’t shown in greater detail. I do like the idea of it as a romantic pairing where Toplady figures it out before Timmy moves on to Patricia, but I like it more because I think it’s funny than because I think it’s romantic, so do whatever you like there.
Some prompts: Toplady thinks better of having given the sonnets to his grandmother and tries to get them back. Your version of Timmy asking for the sonnets back in the cupboard (or cupboard canon divergence, cupboard anything). Toplady POV of literally any canon event. Toplady, post-canon, explaining his version of what happened. 5+1 Timmy/Toplady.
Inspirational book quote: Toplady, with the air of one who makes an important decision with practised rapidity, said, "How do you do."
DNW: -grief/loss as a major theme
Melendy Quartet Martin Melendy, Randy Melendy, Rush Melendy, Mark Herron
I like how the kids are weird in the ways kids are, and how they all have their different personal philosophies, and how the result is usually funny. The outdoor adventures are nice and atmospheric. I’d generally prefer stuff set around the timeframe of The Four-Story Mistake/Then There Were Five.
Some prompts: Father POV of something from the books that would probably be pretty WTF for him (lots of options there). The kids solving some sort of minor mystery (or convincing themselves a mystery exists where there is none). Randy and Rush somehow make friends with Mark earlier and a Melendys vs Oren Meeker showdown happens.
DNW: -grief/loss as a major theme -romantic pairings
Boxcar Children Henry Alden, Jessie Alden, Violet Alden, Benny Alden
I find these books so relaxing. I like the vacation vibes and the food descriptions and the mysteries that tend to stay pretty chill. I like how sometimes mysteries get solved by people just doing the sort of dumb thing that people do sometimes (e.g. Henry hurling the key into the water in Houseboat Mystery). Nowadays I’m more familiar with the original series but I read about 100 of the new ones as a kid so feel free to play around with either.
Some prompts: One kid goes alone on a trip and needs the others’ help investigating a mystery over long-distance. Any sort of snowbound whodunit (something like theft, not murder). One kid is the major suspect and the others have to clear them.
DNW: -grief/loss as a major theme -romantic pairings
Jane of Lantern Hill Jane Stuart, Irene Fraser
I love this book because it is funny and satisfying and has nice descriptions of delicious food and beautiful landscapes. I like the weird situations Jane gets herself into and very much enjoy when she shows up her detractors. I would really like to see some more Jane - Aunt Irene interaction because I don’t feel like Aunt Irene has been satisfactorily dealt with yet. Equally happy with canon divergence and post-canon.
Some prompts: Jane, through convoluted methods, tries to separate dad and Aunt Irene for good. Jane tries to pit Aunt Irene and grandmother against each other. Aunt Irene unexpectedly makes friends with mother and Jane doesn’t know how to deal with this.
DNW: -grief/loss as a major theme -modern AUs
Trixie Belden Trixie Belden, Honey Wheeler
One of my favourite things about these books is that sometimes the characters are just really bad at solving mysteries and it’s hilarious. (The Mystery Off Glen Road is one of my favourites.) I love every wild conclusion they jump to. They just generally seem to fail harder than most kid detectives and that makes it way more fun to root for them. I would love any sort of mysterious nonsense involving them. I’m neutral on pairings - I wouldn’t mind Trixie/Honey if you want to go that route.
Some prompts: the Bobwhites, for mystery-related reasons, invent a new neighbor and get stuck constantly pretending that this nonexistent person exists. Trixie and Honey stage an extremely over-complicated treasure hunt and the prize gets stolen. Trixie and Honey are convinced that [insert Bobwhite of your choice here] has been kidnapped for ransom, but no one else believes them.
DNW: -grief/loss as a major theme
Thomas and the Magic Railroad Mr. Conductor
Alec Baldwin eating vegetables and excitedly saying random words is one of my favourite scenes in cinema. And of course every scene of him being menaced by an evil talking train is perfection (somehow I forgot to nominate Diesel 10, by all means include him if you want).
Some prompts: The sinister influence of the windmill is made clearer. Mr Conductor is menaced by more trains. Mr Conductor sleeps sadly beside a hedge and is mocked by passing trains. Pick a scene to be interrupted by a call from Sir Topham Hatt.
Inspirational clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5nuckKBO_8
DNW: N/A. Just bear in mind that I’m going to find it funny no matter what it is.

If I missed it in the card catalog, I’m really sorry, but I was hoping for a list of fics where Remus didn’t get to go to Hogwarts. Do you have one?
Oh! Thank you for this ask friend, since this is a popular trope that the Library definitely needs a list for!
Remus Didn’t Go to Hogwarts
Sweet Nuthin' by @kattlupin When the summer between third and fourth year begins, Sirius expects it to be nothing but lazy days, harmless pranks with James, and the occasional meet-up with the rest of his friends from Hogwarts. Those plans go out the window rather quickly when he gets a sudden glimpse of Remus Lupin, a mysterious boy who changes everything about Sirius Black's life and shows him that love will always win in the end.
The Crooked Age by @aryastark-valarmorghulis Remus Lupin never went to Hogwarts/No Voldemort AU. Remus was never allowed to go to Hogwarts and met Sirius later in life. "But who said the most logical, conformist solution was always the right answer? Mainstream, boring, by-the-book people. Remus seemed to be a bit of an eccentric. It was refreshing."
L'homme de Mes Rêves -orphaned account Auror Sirius Black is in love with a French Muggle. Forced to keep the fact that he's a wizard secret, he still wants to move things forward. Only things aren't as easy as they seem, which Sirius learns the hard way after taking Remus on a short holiday.
Hey You by @greywarde While filling in for the temporarily incapacitated Transfiguration professor, Sirius finds himself rather fascinated by the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts, Remus Lupin.
Baby It's Love Calling -orphaned account
Post-Hogwarts, Sirius Black is searching for something, he's just not sure what. James has moved on-married and a newborn baby to content with. So deciding he is going to find out for himself what's out there in the world, he packs up and heads to a Muggle University in San Francisco. There he meets Remus Lupin, the mysterious Teacher's Assistant, who very clearly, has some hidden secrets. At first Sirius wants to sate his curiosity, but eventually finding out what Remus is hiding becomes a near obsession.
Christmas At St. Mungo's by @actuallyginnyweasley The full moon fell on Christmas Eve, but thankfully St. Mungo's has a new program in place. Safe Space was created to give werewolves a safe place to transform where they're not in danger of hurting others, only themselves. On Christmas day, Remus is recovering, when a group of people get put at the bed next to him, one of whom is too attractive to be allowed
Alt Ed by @nachodiablo “Remus? Who the bloody hell is Remus?” James is scrambling to straighten his chair as McGonagall glares at him from the head table. Mary smiles innocently. “Oh, just a new friend that Lily met over the holidays. He’s homeschooled, just moved into her neighborhood it seems. She says he’s very clever. And I hear he’s quite fit, as well.”
full moon twofold by renaissance Remus never settles anywhere for long, but the unconditional offer of a roof over his head for a month is more than he can bring himself to turn down. Sirius is back home, one foot in each camp as he plays the role of the dutiful son to gather information for the Order. Learning to trust in stability can be just as frightening as embracing disruption. Like all good stories, this one has two sides.
The Man & the chase - or how destiny works by @wanderingbandurria
Auror Sirius Black feels like he's so, so close to figuring out the boring case he was assigned. After that, he can move to more important things. But then he makes his first big mistake of his career: he decides to go sit down in the same pub as his prime suspect. It was just supposed to be some harmless intimidation tactic. It doesn’t seem to work with the guy.
Wilde and Whimsy by achilees, chasingbluefish In a world where Dumbledore defeated Voldemort during the first war, the wizarding community is picking up the pieces and getting back to their lives. Remus Lupin becomes a person of interest in a murder at the bookshop where he works and Sirius Black and James Potter, aurors, are sent to investigate. As they navigate the crime itself, Remus and Sirius realize that there is something to their instant chemistry. But they need to keep their newfound attraction under wraps while trying to find the killer and stop them from claiming more victims.
The Spy by @yumenouveau Remus knew it would happen eventually. That all the lies he'd told Sirius would come crashing down upon him. But he never imagined it would go over quite like this
A different kettle of fish by @hipsterdiva Remus Lupin has always lived in a houseboat, since he was a little child. When he arrives in London for a job, he meets a mysterious stranger. Because sometimes you cannot escape fate.

Boat-ship
Kristanna Modern AU fanfiction
Word counting: 1061
You can find the fic on AO3
Summary: A houseboat... There is not much to summarize to that...
Note: Spontaneous drabble popping into my mind, upon spotting a friend´s holiday status photo… And once again, the plot might not seem realistic… Who cares, it´s a Kristanna fanfic… Hope you enjoy!
Anna had set her mind of enjoying a holiday she had never dared to think of ever before. She had applied to those days off work a long time ago and now, that they glared back at her in her calendar she suddenly felt kind of lonely. Jenny, her co-worker, had recently got married and would of course not be free. Elsa had work to do overseas and there was no boyfriend… So, it was herself and the inviting lake.
Jenny had recommended to her this option for best relaxing days all to her benefit. To hire a houseboat on wonderful Muritz lake, northern Germany. Anna liked the waters, and to be on her own was usually not the way she fancied spending vacations. But then, some time all by herself would mean that she could spend the day the way she liked, like swimming naked in the moonlight, sunbathing (not naked) lavishly all day long, and enjoying some nice wine and music, all without moving far to enjoy all those things. It was all around her once she would have settled on the boat.
The booking code said the boat would accommodate up to two people. So, she would have enough space to herself without suffering claustrophobia. Perfect!
When she left the docks´ reception, she strolled along the peer to spot the ship she was supposed to board. There it was a lovely cosy looking boat with the tiny house on deck. She heaved her travel bag over the gap and climbed the vessel. She had got the instruction on hand and would surely figure out how to use the equipment. The receptionist had offered his help in case she would need to call for it.
Anna would inspect the machinery later, but first, she just wanted to explore the boat´s interior and outer facilities to checkout. She had been intrigued the first moment, she had stepped on the ship and loved it immediately. Surely, she would spend some lovely 10 days cruising the great lake.
Anna sat down on the bed in one of the two cabins beneath deck and texted to Jenny, thanking her working friend for the great idea! She felt home already, and laid back onto the pillow, closing her eyes for a moment. Just, to drift off into a nice slumber…
***
Honestly, the receptionist could have been more polite, but Kristoff would not waste his time to bother about the broad grinning red face in the box office. He got his keys to the boat and checked the pier to find his little houseboat. He had been looking forward to enjoying two weeks of absolute silence and solitude, something he had been missing for the last months during the horrendous workhours.
“Princess Anna” it said. Not very prickling to a grown man, but very well, if it wasn´t painted all pink and glistening, it would do. Kristoff adjusted his bag on his shoulders and jumped onto deck. He felt home, had missed the feeling of water underlining his transport vessel. Last year, Sven had joined him, and they had a great time. For now, Kristoff couldn´t wait to get onto the grand lake and settle for the night like a drifting sailor, all the night´s quiet to himself. He placed his bag next to the steering wheel, he could unpack later. Dinner wasn´t important yet, he´d packed enough picknick food for tonight. He could still dock to the next harbour tomorrow. Kristoff started the engine right away and pulled out of the docks right into the direction of the middle of the lake.
After a few miles, and savouring the splendour of adventurous boating, it was time to store some things and organise the kitchen facilities.
***
Anna woke to a strange sound. She laid still on the bed, wondering for an instant where she was, when realisation hit her mind. The houseboat! She had accommodated herself a few minutes ago. But then, the light outside her cabin had dimed, it must be later by now… And the boat was moving differently than before. More than that, it sounded like somebody was aboard.
Her heart started drumming fast and a dumb feeling hit the pit of her stomach. Who would have intruded on her boat?
Anna rose as quietly as possible from her bed and peeped around the doorframe. She nearly froze to death, her heart stopped beating for a second and her legs went numb. There was a man in the parlour and rummaging around the kitchen shelfs!
“What are you doing on my boat?” Anna had managed to regain her voice and stood on the threshold, holding on to the doorframe for balance, while the man in her kitchen sector startled and dropped the cereal box. He turned to face the intruder on his ship…
***
It turned out that there had occurred a fault in the booking system. Of course, such a mistake should not happen, and Kristoff tried to ring up the receptionist, or the booking office. Neither of them answered the call anymore. The friendly operator on the emergency call centre explained that on a Friday night they were not able to solve the problem. But Monday they would figure out another solution. The problem was that all the boats on that pier were booked out.
Kristoff hang up the phone and stamped out onto deck to clear his head. He could hardly believe this was happening to him. He had been looking forward so much to appreciate some time off, all on his own. And now he was stuck with – what was her name again – Anna. Till Monday. Well, he could hardly throw her overboard. Hopefully she would be the silent type… But then, for some reason, Kristoff sensed these two days could get very nervetaking with the quirky girl…
He heard a tender cough behind him and turned to look at Anna, who stood there with two glasses and a bottle of wine in her hands. She smiled shyly and shrugged her shoulders apologetically.
“Well, since we are sort of trapped out here… Maybe we could get to know each other a bit better?”
And while she stood there so quietly waiting, the last golden sunrays pointed out Anna´s auburn hair, her blue eyes and cute freckled nose.
Gosh, she´s so gorgeous!
“Yeah sure, why not?…”

Note on a later term... By several requests, this one-shot has turned into a multi-chapter fanfic... you find it on AO3 - hope you enjoy!

"Three Wolves and a Houseboat:" An "Underwater America with Peter Potamus" special (prelude essentially)
(As this particular special from the "Underwater America with Peter Potamus" team opens with the inevitable cheesy stock industrial film music ober the titles, we eventually sense Peter Potamus, leader of the crew, in the den of his beach house trying to emulate the late Marlon Perkins as per "Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom" in setting the scene through the opening narration--as in:)
PETER POTAMUS, wearing that trademark starched safari jacket and pith helmet: In case you were expecting Marlon Perkins ... sorry. I happen to be no less than Peter Potamus, leader of a rather interesting SCUBA diving par-tay not unlike any other as travels around the country discovering the social value of diving, and also spreading the word about diving through working summer camps and otherwise teaching diving "out on the road."
This time around, you've got an especially unlikely sort of diving experience coming from the three wolves in my diving company--as in Loopy De Loop--
LOOPY DE LOOP: It's not exactly easy trying to be "the good wolf," disproving all the bad press we wolves have been subjected to all this time ... but diving, at least, takes my mind off such irrationality!
PETER POTAMUS: Hokey Wolf--
HOKEY WOLF: You might say I'm the Sgt. Bilko of SCUBA, and have enjoyed a good dive every now and then, which can get to be rather FASCINATING!! And besides, aren't divers some of the most charming types out there, next to surfers?
PETER POTAMUS: And Mildew Wolf--
MILDEW WOLF, with typical Paul Lynde-brand snark: Who were you expecting, Jacques Cousteau? At least diving is much better than trying to chase spring lamb au naturel! (Little lupine humour there ...)
PETER POTAMUS, picking up the tale: Over a few days this past summer, our lupine trio had something of an interesting diver's holiday taking up quarters in a rented houseboat up among the World-Renowned and Far-Famed Ten Thousand Lakes of Minnesota--[Your Genial Host moves to a map of the lakes of Minnesota and the glories inherent in same]--more specifically, Pelican Lake in the Brainerd Lakes region. Perhaps best known for the Breezy Point Resort which a certain Captain Billy Fawcett of "Capt. Billy's Whiz-Bang" magazine founded in the early 1920's ... for the most part, relatively shallow, 20-40 feet deep on average but having a 75-foot depth on the southern part of the lake. What could be a more interesting milieu?
[The scene shifts to the houseboat, a modest-looking affair but not too garish, at a landing somewhere near Breezy Point where our lupine trio is loading stuff on board, including dive impedimentia such as air tanks, masks, fins, snorkels, the whole lot.]
HOKEY WOLF, taking up the narrative off screen: Believe you me, finding a decently practical houseboat as isn't too ostentatious--such as seem to be the case with houseboats recently--seemed a little difficult, but when you search around the local visitor-information circles, official and otherwise, you can come across something practical.
[Here begins a tour of the houseboat, as it were]
Now this over here is the cockpit--I suppose you know the tale that if you can drive a car, you can steer a houseboat--and over here is the, shall we say, kitchenette (even if most of our meals are bound to be Cheerios, SPAM, canned chili, hot dogs, Pot Noodles, canned beef stew--pretty much canned anything)--shortwave radio set; who needs the TV overdone?--our diving gear--and some sleeping pads for spending the night on. Hopefully, we hope to use these on the outside deck, taking advantage of the cool and refreshing lake breezes of the Minnesota lake nights.
MILDEW WOLF, also narrating off camera: And being wolves, it's rather inevitable that we'll likely sleep on our bellies--tails getting in the way, you know.
HOKEY WOLF: I do have to acknowledge that things might be a little predictable with our diving on such an atypical lake among Minnesota's Ten Thousand--or will there be? At any case, stay tuned ...

5 TROPICAL ISLAND HOLIDAYS FOR WHEN YOU’RE BROKE AND NEED SUN
Tumblr media
Tropical island holidays are my first choice for a getaway.
Who doesn’t want to measure as an island baby?
It’s easy to convince yourself that living la Vida Loca on a tropical island will cost you an arm and a leg...
Can you not, Bora Bora?
However, imma allow you to in on some secrets of a number of the most cost-effective possible places to possess a tropical island holiday, without breaking the bank.
These destinations are so cheap, the sole real expense you've got to stress about is getting over there…
Lucky for you, it’s easy to snag an inexpensive flight.
1.0 PERHENTIAN ISLANDS, MALAYSIA : Perhentian Islands is as stunning because it is reasonable.
Just a brief 1-hour flight from Kuala Lumpur and a half an hour boat ride, you’ll end up in paradise.
Completely hidden and underrated, I think people will start to catch on soon.
Also, the cost of meals and accommodation is insanely cheap.
Most activities are free as people enjoy the natural activities the island has got to offer, like hiking and exploring.
2.0 Sri Lanka :
Sri Lanka must get on your bucketlist.
Not only are you able to get tons out of a tropical beach holiday, but you'll also explore mountains and cities.
The West Coast is home to Colombo, which is that the hottest place to go to.
I recommend heading to the South Coast to explore amazing beaches, wildlife parks, and temples. It’s also a touch quieter.
Sri Lanka is additionally super cheap, with accommodation, food, and activities costing as little as AU$30 each day.
3.0 CROATIA :
There’s a reason people flock from everywhere the planet to enjoy an EU summer.
It’s fricken stunning!
The color of the water in Croatia is like nothing you’ve seen before.
Not to mention, the food and price of living are additionally really cheap.
Hvar, Dubrovnik, and Split are popular choices, however, there also are another 48 inhabited islands that you simply can sail to.
It’s another bonus that the encompassing beauties offer a lot of activities for those traveling on a budget and anting to remain occupied.
Cliff jumping may be a popular choice, also as enjoying an area (and super cheap) beer during a cliff bar.
4.0 THAILAND :
Thailand (and Indonesia…but I won’t go there this time) is that the obvious choice for insane beaches and affordability.
Hanging around Thailand also acts as a gateway for having the ability to explore all the opposite places the country has got to offer.
As for island getaways, Ko Tao Ko Pha-ngan, Bond and Ko Phi Phi are obvious choices.
I recently spent fortnight exploring Ko Samui by moped and may vouch that it’s virtually impossible to not stumble across some kind of hidden beach.
I spent virtually nothing for the 2 weeks I used to be there, with breakfast included in my accommodation and lunch and dinner averaging AU$3 each.
5.0 LAGOS, PORTUGAL :
There’s a reason a bucket filled with Aussies have migrated to Lagos and it’s surrounding areas.
It’s cheap (the cheapest beer I’ve ever had) and stunning.
You can spend your day's beach hopping, which is separated by huge cliffs.
My accommodation included a restaurant breakfast, we had a picnic for lunch on the beach and ate local for dinner.
On average, our daily spending was around AU$10.
FYI, the key to an inexpensive meal in Lagos is to steer beyond the most center.
5 SERIOUSLY CHEAP ACCOMMODATION WEBSITES TO BOOK YOUR NEXT HOLIDAY :
1.0 AIRBNB Airbnb is ideal for those planning a visit, particularly due to the range of accommodation options that it offers.
You have the choice of renting a personal room and staying with an area, to renting an entire apartment or house.
Depending on what sort of accommodation you’re trying to find and where the costs vary. However, generally, this may be my first place to seem when booking accommodation.
I recently spent every week during a 4 villa private estate with a pool and kitchen for $1400 and this slept, 8 folks. I ain’t no mathematician but this involves but $200 per person for an entire week of luxe living.
Airbnb also offers camping options or really groovy accommodation options, like staying during a houseboat on the canals of Amsterdam.
I recommend searching supported your destination then altering the amenities options and tag.
Then, I might use the map to dictate the overall area you would like to be staying in and zone in on the properties around that.
If you’ve never stayed in an Airbnb, read here to find out the low-down etiquette.
2.0 BOOKING.COM I am a longtime fan of Booking.com and have booked the majority of my longterm trips with them.
They have a more extensive range of properties on offer in each City than other booking sites do.
I always begin by searching for my destination and sorting prices from low to high.
Booking.com is especially my favorite to use in Southeast Asia, with accommodation options often starting as low as AU$4 an evening.
Also, most of the properties on Booking.com leave free cancellation up until a brief time before your trip.
3.0 AGODA Agoda can spit out some seriously cheap options.
I always ensure I check Agoda also as Booking.com, as Agoda often has the underdog properties that aren’t listed on Booking.com.
Agoda also comes through with the accommodation that I’ve seen for fewer than AU$15 an evening in some places.
Get your investigating pants on and obtain traveling sista!
4.0 KAYAK Kayak is that the final website I’ll sign up my bargain accommodation mission.
Kayak may be a travel program that scours the web for your cheapest possible accommodation option.
It searches through Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com and Trip Advisor.
I usually find accommodation within the above three options, however, Kayak is usually a fast search I’ll do to make sure I'm getting the simplest possible price and option.
Although it isn’t my first option, I happened to book an all-inclusive trip to Phuket on Expedia for a terrifyingly cheap price.
Therefore Kayak is worth a squiz, as it’s scouring through all other competitors.
5.0 COUCHSURFING For me, travel may be a lot about exploring and becoming apart of communities.
This is why Airbnb is at the highest of this list. They get my budget tick of approval but it also allows the foremost opportunity to actually immerse yourself during a new culture.
This is equivalent to Couchsurfing.
Oh, and therefore the accommodation is free.
The whole way this works is that you simply join the web community and apply to remain on a host's couch/spare bed free of charge.
The whole system aims to unite people and meet other travelers.
You may be thinking that this is often heckin’ wild which safety may be a concern.
Couchsurfing has been running for the past 20 years and has comprehensive methods that need hosts to urge verified.
I encourage you to exercise ample safety altogether aspects of your travel.
However, this is often a very popular option for backpackers and budget travelers.

Houseboat Holiday! Sweet Summer Sweat
The sleeping arrangements on the boat remained the same. Everybody retired to their own spot. It gave you plenty of time to scroll through your friends socials. Soft phone light bouncing off the wall before you feel into a deep sleep. I mean, the cool ocean breeze that slipped under the cracks in the door made for the perfect cool, but I’m layered in blankets setting. The optimal sleeping temperature, in your opinion. you were soundly asleep. The kind were little puffs of air cutely flew past your lips; dead to the world. that is until . . . ———
until you felt a swift wave of nausea in your stomach and the taste of bile tickled the back of your throat. your face contorted squeezing shut, no it couldn’t be . . . tHuMpthumPTHUmpthumptHuMpThuMP. you shot up in bed. that was Katsuki. you definitely knew your friends heartbeat, but Katsuki’s was always strong and steady and sure. A utter contrast to Izuku’s whose heart you’ve heard sputtering out of control many times before to his anxiety. leapping out of bed at the galloping heart that must have been in impeccable health because it was like hammering into your skull. you leap and placed your foot on the ground, only to recoil back and jump on the couch. What. The. Fuu-
“shit.” you’d hissed, as soon as you put your foot down you were kindly aware of a dull, dull heartbeat pulsing in the waters below. . . . a heartbeat the size of a small car!
“Ughh, you’re kidding me,” you whispered in a frantic rush, “ok. Ok.” you bent your knees and took a leap off the couch to avoid stepping on whatever that creature was again. Shark? Giant Squid? Whale? you weren’t exactly an expert, and instead decided to ignore that obstacle as you went dashing through the hallway blindly, following the booming sound.
You paused outside the hallway, hearing Izuku’s heart steadily creeping through dreamland. A couple funny beats that held more power to them; most be something interesting, but Katsuki’s still bleated at the forefront of your brain. you swiftly gave a gentle knock before slipping in through the door. ———
You entered the room. The sound of his heart pounding touched you and rattled your chest. A fun part of your quirk, if you were close enough to a loud heart you could feel it reverberate. Like, a loud sound booming out the speakers. only now it was one of your best friends . . . Katsuki lay with the sheets thrown off half his body. His chest bare with darkened splotches, that you knew must be scars, shined along with the rest of him. He was covered in sweat. His hands clenching heaps of the blanket. A singular deep wrinkle dimpled between his eyebrows. A grunt slipped behind his tensed jaw as you approached the bed. Upclose you saw the glimmer of a retainer; good. That boy absolutely needed one with the way he ground his teeth in his sleep. you quickly took to gently shaking his legs at the foot of his bed. it would be too dangerous to be near his hands with the pace of his heart when he woke. tHuMp.THUUmmmpP. you gasped stepping back. Katsuki lurched awake. Crimson eyes shot open like a flare through the room. Carefully calculating every possible option before his eyes settled on you. He gasped, rubbing at his eyes, “what’er y’er doing here y/n?” you moved to make eye contact with him, “I came to check on you.” he hoarsely barked out a typical “hah.” “there’s no reason to check on me. M’ doing perfectly fine. Go back to bed . . .” you looked at him absolutely incredulous. He rubbed his chest against one of those dark shiny spotches. shaky breathes leaving his mouth as he glanced over at you. Accessing whether you would leave him be.
But the old scar. A sweaty bed. The hypothesis was confirmed. “If that were true, which it’s not, then I wouldn’t have been shocked awake to your heartbeat pounding in my head.” You sat yourself down on the other side off his bed and swung your feet up.
Katsuki grimaced as you spoke, “and I simply can’t sleep until your heart quiets down. So I’m gonna stay here with you. I know you don’t like it, but that’s what’s happening, but we don’t have to talk about it.” katsuki sighed running a hand down his face. You sat in silence for a good minute before he rose from the bed. “mmm’ getting a towel,” he mumbled, merely for your benefit. You listened to the squeaky cabinet and Izuku’s once again emphasize a few different beats. you may not get Katsuki to talk about his nightmare, but you made a mental note to ask Izuku in the morning what sounded like a very exciting dream.
Katsuki returned looking a hell of a lot less sweaty as he grumbled his way back to sitting on the edge of the bed. His heart rate was already a little less pounding than before, but only a little. Katsuki shifted to mirror you, springs squeaking as he sat up.
he grimaced once again as he glanced down at his chest before you put a hand on his shoulder. he promptly shifted his gaze to glance down at you. You could see the pain etched onto your dear friends face at this angle. a silver of the carefully concealed facade of Katsuki Bakugou, but as of right now you wished he could muster up his usual scowl. you watched as Katsuki stared at his hand, thought about moving it, and put it down. and your heart clenched as he sighed again and ran a hand through his hair, you knew exactly where. like a second glance at a familiar location where you really take everything in it became clear to you. As un-touchy feeling as Katsuki was there was one way he would regularly sit besides close company. you carefully patted your knee. Slowly Katsuki moved his giant hand to rest on your knee, forearm resting against your thigh as he moved his elbow so as to not knock into your hip. you immediately slipped your hand to rest on his back, tracing light circles with your fingertips. his hand stood still on your knee. A flood of warmth pooled out of his arm and onto your skin; yeah Katsuki always ran hot. ——— you two sat in silence for a while. Katsuki eventually moving his fingers to trace abstract shapes along your bare thigh. the surprising warm and meaty callouses caused a shiver up your spine eliciting a brief retraction of the action before an amused puff left your nose and Katsuki resumed. his heart had retreated to normal. Not quite the rock solid tempo that you knew, but close. ———
in the morning it was Izuku who opened the door to his friends room and found y’all.
you two had fallen on top of each other like a couple of toddlers. Katsuki’s head and shoulders on your lap, hand now swapped to the other knee as he carefully hugged you legs to his chest. Meanwhile, you had gently toppled over his giant figure. Arms crossed underneath you cheek as you slumbered atop of Katsuki’s back. A prominent scar unknowingly tucked against your belly. Izuku merely smiled looking at the two of you. He had a pretty good idea as to what this was all about. And neither of y’all emerged til way past Katsuki’s normal rising time, but totally normal for you. ——— it wasn’t until you plopped down at the table together with Katsuki that Izuku came bounding up
“Y/N Chan! You have to hear about my dream last night.” You grinned, eyes flashing to Katsuki’s who gave a lopsided smile as he silently dug into his omelet. “of course! Tell me all about it.”

Houseboat Holiday! Fish Feeding Frenzy 🍽️🫀🐟
“Alright, I’ll leave you kids to it. Let us know when you find a good fishing spot.” you grinned waving a hand, “ok Uncle Masaru!” “Bye Mr. Bakugou!” ———
“yea, yeah, we’ll find the best damn fishing spot . . .”
You turned to Katsuki clad in a tank-top and khakis. His blonde spiky hair rustling in the breeze. Katsuki’s bulky pro hero frame crouched as he had his nose buried into the map. “Pops is just saying that because he knows it’ll take us forever,” he said, red eyes tracing the lines. In the captains chair Izuku grinned, nudging your leg with his elbow, “But it’ll be fun, right Y/N?” Your own lips turned into a smile as Izuku hastily reached up to tuck a fly-away curl of hair off his forehead and back into his transparent plastic All Might visor. “Of course! As long as we can see where we’re going,” you teased. You tucked another stray curl into his hat with your own hand. And he failed at holding in a snicker at the summery additions to your lovely face, to which you appropriately flicked his shoulder for. The outdoors captains station was set on top of the boat. It held all the same equipment as the one downstairs inside the ship. The outdoors station was a nice way to enjoy the nicer weather out at sea. The sparkling sea and just the right amount of sun on your face. This station was set underneath a little shaded fabric roofing.
That didn’t stop Katsuki from forcibly smearing a line of sunscreen across the top of your cheeks and nose. I mean Izuku didn’t even receive any and Katsuki himself only had the touristy line across his nose! Not that anybody would see it within the next hour because he was gonna have his nose buried the entire time as he directed Izuku to what looked like the best fishing spot.
Of course that would always be stopped by your vetoing. You were always mandated to fishing-spot duty because of your quirk . . . and the boys always insisted on joining you. It was obviously a man thing.
——— “Ok. If you move 13 degrees northwest then she’ll be heading straight towards this - “ Kats paused waving a hand around in the air, “it’s some giant seasonal breeding for a bunch a’ fish.” “Aye aye captain.” He saluted. Looking across the dashboard flipping knobs and calibrating the compass. You leaned against the railing staring out at the great big blue that surrounded you, giving a side-eye back, “Isn’t he technically captain right now?” Izuku stammered up, “well I’m still following orders.” “hmm, guess that true,” you hummed, pushing off the railing and scooted over next to Katsuki, “show me where we’re going.” Mr. Grouchy Pants humbly obliged. Well that was certainly new. He leaned in and moved his arms down so you could see it, “We’re heading here now. Should be a lot of fish according to the thick-ass fishing tome in the drawer.” he jutted his thumb over toward the drawers by the captains chair. Izuku perked up to look at y’all hovering over the map, “Kacchan, Are you making a jab at those printed copies of mission statement papers that we had to pack?” “Course I am. Couldn’t get it done before the trip so -“
“- so we had to bring them along. It’s really loooong paperwork,” Izuku made eye contact with you, “luckily we have two missions that we did together in the car and we just copied each other.” “Fascinating, tell. . .” thump-thump. Th. Thuuump. thu. Ump. thump. thump. thump-thump thump.
too many stuttering heartbeats. they all clamored for your attention. all sounding like a stuttering snare. there must be a freaking feeding frenzy happening right under your feet. Right now. “Can I just - oh. my. god.” You yelped, causing Katsuki to flinch right next to you. Kacchan and Izuku both looked at each other with knowing look you missed as you scrambled. You had your hands clamped over your ears. Izuku lifted an arm out of the way for you to jump into his lap. hands still clamped, you shuttered, “swing left, there’s a big feeding frenzy happening right under us.” You sat in his lap. Clenching your eyes shut as you tried not to focus on the murderous assault on your ears. You could feel Izuku hurriedly put his other hand back on the steering wheel and hear how he started flipping all the switches to turn the boat around. You kept your eyes closed and your ear covered. Your senses flooded with bickering atop of . . . everything else . . . well needless to say death amplified was a horrible sound. Katsuki immediately argued, “but we have to go in that direction.” “Grr! Kacchan, lay off.” you flinched, it was uncommon for him to stand up to your friend.
you glimpsed up as Izuku peered down at you with those kind emerald eyes, “are you sure Y/N?” You stared up at them. Katsuki with his arms crossed staring down at you from over Izuku’s shoulder. A blank face. Then in front of you was Izuku. Caring eyes and a slight frown on the corner of his lip. Curly hair dancing behind that goofy fanboy visor that shadowed his face full of freckles in red, blue, and yellow light. there was a reason they called him the next All Might.
. . . But that hat may be a tad much.
——
“yeah I’m sure,” you flinched.
Katsuki raised his eyebrows and puffed a hot stream of air out of his nose that reached the top of your head.
You sighed, “there’s not gonna be any fish left. The sharks or whatever are moving in that direction already.” He huffed again, “alright then. go around for now. Y’er always right.”
——— you sighed, Izuku’s arms circling around you as he finished redirecting the ship. “this is my least favorite part . . .” you mumbled. “me too,” he said, the breeze changed. “I know it must sound terrible.” You peered around to see katsuki burying himself into the map again. You simply nodded and laid your head against his shoulder. and a warm hand came to gently rub up and down you arm. Goosebumps prickled under his hot and calloused touch. Izuku rested his chin on the top of your head, “listen all you want.” A invitation to stay there and focus on the familiar heartbeat underneath your head.
“Want me to talk?” “Go for it! Nerd’s a good rambler.” You rolled your eyes feeling a giant fall against your side as Izuku sighed from Kacchans typical, but not so helpful response. “yes please, what are those big tomes about?” You listened to the rush of air, “well we need to record our missions for dexterity and last week was a nightmare. Some crazy villain-“
“What do ya mean ‘villain’ it was a whole damn drug organization, Deku!” “ok so well it started off as one guy and he led us to the rest of the organization. But we didn’t know it at the time. Happy?” “Ya’ go back to your story. And don’t leave out the good parts.” “Ok, so we come across this one guy. He’s been milling around the mall parking lot for days. There’s this huge van and everything . . . We’ve been watching him for months now . . . has a, um, how do I explain it?” “just say previous record.” “Yea he has a previous record at the local police department. And -“
“Ahem - Deku?” “Right! So y/n what happened before that is actually really important to make the story work . . . “ ——— An oceans breeze tickled your face, a friends hand sanding down your army of goosebumps, a salty tint to the air, a new story told in the most typical “Wonder Duo” fashion. Yourself cozied up on a friends lap, funny colors shading your freckled arm that was still being loving stroked. The funny weight of Deku talking on top of your head. A full cocooning of sound, heartbeat and voice surrounding your preciously sensitive head. The frenzy of stuttering heartbeats fading in the distance as you sailed away.

Houseboat Holiday!🌊⛴️☀️!
Sardines or Couch? 🐟🐠🛏️
The evening drew to and end quickly. With a lot of yelling, banter, whispered teasing between you and the greenette’s, another round of chocolate and the celebratory cast off. Now Masaru manned the ships wheel as the rest of you tried to organize your stuff. Naturally Mitsuki was taking charge, “ok well, Inko, Masaru, and I have already claimed two of the cabins. Since we’re short on L/Ns -“ she smirked as she gave you the side eye, “- we actually have a lot more room than normal.” “So?” The three of you countered. Inko finished her friend thought, “nobody has to -“
and the boys finished for her giving a wicked loud high-five, “No Couch!” “told ya’ they’d take it just fine,” you beamed. To be honest they’d already explained that they didn’t think the boys would even fit on that giant couch anymore. Sleeping arrangements in the houseboat were always tricky where there were 4 cabins, 3 families, and 9 people. Thus, the parents all had their own rooms. Then, that left the coveted 4th room for kids or the L-shaped houseboat couch. Now the couch usually went on rotations every other summer. The back of an old grocery receipt in the kitchen drawer kept record. It always flipped between you and your brother (the obvious arrangement), you and Izuku (the calmest arrangement) your brother and Katsuki (the corresponding option to everyone’s favorite option), and the most frequent option: Izuku and Katsuki. So their current enthusiasm was understandable, “Enjoy it while it lasts. I don’t know what we’re gonna do next year when the other L/Ns arrive with their cute little family.” In front of you Izuku gasped, scraping the sides of the hallway with his luggage, “That’s right! Shota-Kun and Mei have a little baby baby now.” In front of him Katsuki ducked into their shared room, “with a newly manifested quirk.” “oh yeah, what is it again y/n?” Izuku asked following Katsuki. You filed into the room across from them, door wide open as a chorus of zippers started unpacking, “well, it sounds like it may be some form of x-ray like my dad.” You clicked your tongue, chucking your bathing suits into a drawer. “Although we’re not really sure yet. That’s why they’re all together right now, to figure it out.” Izuku hummed from the other room, “I think it’ll be super cool to see if it’s the same quirk.” “Totally! Although Mei’s animal communication quirk with my brothers lasers makes it anyone’s best guess.” “They’ll figure out the squirts quirk eventually,” Katsuki grunted, “if they don’t send us over. Nerd and I can figure it out.” you hummed, “ Shota told me they’ll invite you over to come visit Yuto anyway, but the way it’s been going they might could use some professionals on the job.” “We’d love that! Right Kacchan?” A resounding set of squeaks followed by silence came from the room. You padded over to their doorframe. “we’re never gonna be able to sleep like this!” Izuku covered his face with a hand muttering, “oh man . . .” “Boys you’re officially the human embodiment of sardines right now.” Katsuki threw his hands up into the air jostling Izuku who just stared at him looking defeated, “nows not the time for er’ sass!”
Drumming your fingers against the wall your smile turned into a frown. Seriously? You hung your head before you shouted, “Hey! Aunties we’re gonna need the couch blankets for this trip after all!” ——— (´-`).。oO (real life representation of reader)
You’d heroically sacrificed your room for Izuku and settled into the couch hours ago. Now it was the dark hours of the morning when a captains change would happen. ——— Katsuki went about the boat as quietly as he could. Squeezing sideways through that squeaky-ass door and padding out into the living room where the indoors captain wheel was. he squinted his way around the place. Luckily you kids knew it like the back of your hands. Itd been ages since he’d last been on this boat. Last few summers were just him and Izuku busy doing hero training where here you were hanging out with your family. Going off to college and doing a heck of a lot of academia. You coulda been a hero too if you’d wanted, but ya’ never took an interest to it like him and Deku.
A figure stood up from a chair, “Waters easy, still drizzling out there so you can’t see much.” His dad slapped him on the back with a yawn, “see you in the morning light, son.” Katsuki was one of the best captains out of the collective families bunch. Eventually, he’d learn to pilot the whole thing by staying up late at night with Shota while your fathers whispered as they manned the ship. He’s a hell of a lot better at blackjack from those nights too. Makes hanging out at the bar more manageable with his other annoying friends. He grumbled out a, “Night pops’” before settling into the captains chair. “good to know I can still fit.” “g’d to know what?”
Katsuki turned around in a flash, well now his heart was racing. Damn it. “how’d ya? I was being quiet!” He hissed. you stretched like a kitten underneath an old quilt before curling back up into a ball. you waved a hand, hair falling down against your face, “heard ya’ change with your dad. Hmm, sorry to startle ya’ hero.” His ears turned pink, right. So even as a pro he couldn’t sneak up on you without waking you. So much for those stealth lessons from Aizawa. You wriggled deeper into the blanket, lips barely parting, “everyone back asleep now . . .” he sighed watching the familiar adolescent glint of a retainer in your mouth as your chest lightly rose and fall. A heart pulsing that only you could hear. A whole boat full of 6 different hearts that only you could hear from your hazy dream on the couch. An oceans worth of thumping hearts pulsing underneath the waves. He sighed, steeling his own, he’d forgotten to expect you’d wake up, “goodnight, senior.” in a minute you groaned flipping up onto your forearms to blankly stare at him, “give it a rest ‘suki! And don’t laugh at your own joke. Don’t argue, I can hear it! Your heart picked up, you thought it was funny.” Katsuki poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue. He had to admit it was still funny, “alright alright, can’t help that you’re old.” he heard you flop down and flip over, “it’s a few days!” Oh, it was good to be back. “thanks for taking the couch.” “your welcome, you big baby.”

Houseboat Holiday!🌊⛴️☀️!
There was nothing more exhilarating than a long awaited summer vacation with your childhood best friends. The annual houseboat holiday with your three families. The Bakugous, Midoriyas, and L/Ns. This tradition started a long time ago when your parents were all young adults fresh out of college. In fact, the tradition started out as a lifestyle where your mothers had all decided to split the cost of a houseboat rather than dealing and living in the inflated Japanese apartments at the time. Plus, life on the water had less crime and was safer for a bunch of single women. And now it’s become a tradition for your expanding families.
And Now here you were fresh out of the college semester for the summer. A young single and educated woman just like your mothers were, and here you were. The only representative member of your family coming on the trip this year. Your parents being called for some emergency quirk training for your nephew who just inherited a quirk much like your fathers.
A 2-year old with some form of x-ray vision was definitely cause for missing a vacation. Your poor brother and sister-in-law kept you regularly posted on the terrible twos. So when your family shared the news that only you could make it everyone understood.
“Oh! Inko, darling, get up here it’s Y/N!” A familiar shout greeted you as you saw familiar figures moving around on the family houseboat. A blonde woman made a mad dash off the boat and down the wooden planks - thats when you dropped all your luggage.
You flew into her embrace, “Auntie Mitski!” “Look at you! Your Mamas little girl!” She stood back and held your arms, peering around at you every which way, “let me get a good luck at you!” With a giggle you did the routine and pushed your sunglasses up, flashing your big sparkling eyes and thick fluttering lashes.
Mitsuki let out her rackous laughter and slung and arm around your shoulders steering you to the boat, “Could still make my boy hand over his desert like when you were kids with those eyes.” you rolled your eyes gently nudging her in the ribs.
“Oh - right . . .” your aunt turned to the boat and shouted for her husband, you still in tow, it was same old, same old. You passed him on the boat as he went to grab your luggage’s mouthing your routine ‘thank you’ as he went to grab your bags and Mitsuki talked your ear off. “ - like I said in my text, the boys are probably gonna be here late tonight -“
“I just got off the phone with Izuku and he said that they were well on their way to the city by now, so they might be earlier . . .” you gasped, your auntie slipping her arm off your shoulder so you could embrace your other aunt who just came around the corner. “oh my gosh Inko you look incredible!” “She’s been working out son the weekends with Izuku. Such a dutiful son. Now she’s got that summer body back!” “oh it’s not been that big a deal,” she blubbered, “I mean look at our girl’s baby girl. You’re so gorgeous.” you pulled back as she dabbed her eyes with tissues that you know Mitsuki must have supplied to her behind your back. “But honestly, Aunt Inko you look great. Im super proud of you.” she sniffled as Mitsuki slug an arm around the both of you, “hey and you know she’s been back in the dating scene and you’re never gonna guess who she’s getting lucky with y/n.” “Mitsy!” Inko turned bright red. You gasped, “uh Aunty Inky excuse me? I haven’t heard anything about this from mom. Who is it?!” “oh I’ll let her tell the whole story herself later tonight,” Mitsuki ensured, chuckling with her best friend and daughter of her other best friend at her side, “you haven’t gotten a pedicure have you?” “nope, just as promised, I know the ritual.” ————
Then later that evening came. With your Uncle Masaru dutifully supplying y’all with snacks: charcuterie, popcorn, chocolate truffles that were to die for, and a splashing of champagne as you participated in the matriarchs first night get-together ritual; painting each others nails. . . Auntie Mitsuki raised her glass to her lips with a coy smile as she encouraged Aunty Inko to spill the tea about her recent dating life to you. The three of you flopped onto the couch. Inko inbetween the two of you brandishing a bottle of orange mandarin nail polish. She had the steadiest hand and they’d always given you the honor of going first, especially as the only daughter out of three. your freshly shaved legs were thrown over Inko’s lap with a smattering of charcuterie goodies on your plate. Meanwhile Mitsuki held onto the bowl of popcorn. “so y/n, it really all started back when Izuku started school - “
Mitsuki shoved a handful of popcorn into her friends open mouth, “ - it’s a real slow burner.” she swiped the polish over your nails, “ahem as I was saying it started back then. This dashing man who had become a teacher and mentor to Izuku at school had started coming over monthly for house checks when they had all those villains at the school. Of course I got updates from Izuku - thristy.” Mitsuki grabbed a glass from the table with a straw and held it to her mouth.
you happily crunched away on your cheese and crackers as Masaru peeked his head around the kitchen, “you ladies need more drinks?” “yes please!” You chirped as he brought you another bottle of soda. “- anyway, the school continued these meetings even when the students moved to the dorms and eventually within some time I realized he had such a interest and love for my son that I couldn’t help but wonder about the man himself. And well, then we started chatting about our life’s our interests our hobbies, everything under the sun and not just Izuku. But I was too shy and embarrassed to date a man like that. A retired hero!” Mitsuki poked the bottom of your foot with her ‘this is the good part’ face. “I mean he’s an icon! All Might. The All Might had been visiting me for two and a half years now, loved my son, and showed nothing but kindness, admiration, and respect. Well, after last summer I decided I wanted to bring some of that confidence back and so Izuku and I started walking every weekend and he helped me start a at home workout routine. Oh- He’s huge now, my Izuku! Never would have thought, but that’s what it takes to be a hero.” At this point your eyes were as big as saucers as you stared at Mitsuki for confirmation. To which she only nodded. “So you’re telling me that you two haven’t been dating this whole time?” You asked incredulously. She looked up from her lap, “What no, of course not! We’ve waited for Izuku to graduate and then for me to feel ready to be comfortable to date.” “I can’t believe this. Izuku’s been telling me that y’all have been dating since his last half of highschool!” “WHAT?!” “oh Inky you really ought to have seen it from his perspective. It was so obvious to the rest of us!” “wait what? Really?!”
Slam. The three of you barely heard anything between your playful teasing, but Masaru had heard and gone upstairs to help the last holiday guests arrive. “hey!” You shouted as popcorn flew across the air, “No fair I have zero ammunition!” you were getting pelted with popcorn. Inko in the cross fires. “Well isn’t this a delicious battle zone!” Inko giggled catching the assaulting popcorn in her mouth with a crunch. More thuds moved down the stairs.
“Oi.”
“Mom! - Mitsuki! Y/N!”
“ - already yelling without us, huh, what’s life come to?” Mitsuki vaulted off the couch to pull her son into a loving headlock, “Oh my adult brat has come home!” It’d been about two maybe three years since you’d last seen them, between graduation and training camps the last few summers consisted of your family and their parents. Now you had you admit they both looked totally grown up. And almost intimidated-ly so . . . you blinked trying to take it in. Katsuki still dressed like he had a rap album to drop. Thank ‘might he grew out of that one goth phase. Sporting a tight, really tight fitting black t-shirt and matching joggers. And Izuku wore an equally tight “Shirt” shirt with khakis. Always much more summer appropriate. The t-shirts left none of their reps to guess. None of there victories or losses unaccounted for. you blinked, you knew about these, heck you’d seen pictures of them but the different scars littering their bodies still caught you off guard. It’s nothing compared to seeing the real thing. It made it much more real. I mean it still surprises you that these two kids you’d grown up with were real heroes.
. . . until you watched Katsuki let his mom wrestle him into a noogie before throwing an arm around her as she rested her head on his shoulder. well, Mitsuki could wrestle just about any giant. Meanwhile, Izuku walked over to the couch and gave his mom a hug. so they were the same childhood dorks you’d grown up with. you giggled as your legs got caught between, “Hey Izuku!” He broke away from his mom, “And Y/N wow! It’s so good to see you!” You grinned opening your arms for an Izuku hug. As he pulled back he smiled sheepishly, scarred fingers gently brushing through your hair, “you’ve got popcorn.” “yeah I’m not as talented as your mom.” “oh yeah, no one can beat her at her own party tricks,” he shrugged. Your blonde childhood friend sauntered up beside the green bean. immediately the house lights were blocked out from their, still surprising, bulky pro-hero frames. “Hey n/n, good to see ya’.” you smiled up at katsuki, “nice to see you too. Hey wait - where’d you get that Kats?” In his hand was a chocolate truffle that wasn’t done yet. You could have sworn that Masaru was still whipping those up in the kitchen. Katsuki grunted, “doesn’t matter to you,” before hastily plopping the treat into his mouth and crossing his arms as he chewed, “can’t let you make that face anymore, it won’t work on me.” “Aw come on Katsuki, we’ve been waiting on those and you just got here. Plus what ever happened to ladies first?” You teased. he turned his face away, “nope, can’t make me. I won’t get you anything from the kitchen this time . . . and neither will “
Izuku already disappeared muttering to Masaru in the kitchen to fetch a tray, “she’s trapped my mother in a pedicure and she can’t even get up because her nail polish isn’t dry.” Katsuki hissed in defeat, “damn you nerd.” meanwhile the rest of you cheered thanks for Mr. Bakugou for baking and Izuku for being kind enough to help bring a batch in. “ oh my god honey these are to die for ~ !” “shut it ma’ you say that every single time he makes them.” “hey! it’s true!” “yeah, plus that’s her catchphrase sweetheart.” “and so another year, the same Bakugou family script. It’s gonna be a wonderful trip,” Inko giggled, now flanked by you and Izuku who feed her a truffle. “that it is.”
