Postcards from Snagglepuss
Wrapping up some rather fascinating diving down Iowa way
ON WEST LAKE OKOBOJI, IOWA: With the Minnesota State Fair not that far off, it was getting time to wrap up our summer diving escapades with the Three Wolves and the Divin' Wolf Pups, no doubt rather fascinating, to the point of refreshing even!!
And to make things especially fascinating, the Hair Bear Bunch decided to join along with us for a final day of diving escapades.
"Nonetheless," Hair Bear observed, "you have to consider that we bears like our diving to be of the breath hold sort, more or less!"
To which Bubi chimed in, "You have to count on the clyde, just holding the breath and just seeing the wonder to be had underwater, the sheer fascination of it all!"
"I assume Bubi was saying that diving couldn't be more fascinating to us bears!" responded Square Bear.
"And no doubt the bear is right!" chimed in Hokey Wolf, more or less the lupine dive leader, even allowing for Loopy De Loop's charm and sophistication tending to be of Quebecoise origins (and such all the while excusing his desire to challenge lupine stereotypes of the sadisto, vicious sort of wolf) and Mildew Wolf's legendary wit and snark.
"Snagglepuss," Huckleberry Hound chimed in, "I just have to hand it to those wolves and bears for being in such interesting company."
"Of the underwater sort," saith I. And with that, down we went into such remarkably clear and divable waters in such an unusual locale as northern Iowa ... diving to a depth of some 50 feet, at which point we were led into a "friendship circle" underwater, just the eight of us in all, and what a mystic sort of fascination came over us.
Not to mention arousal and sensations between the legs for some reason or another!
=============
Towards the evening ... while the farewells with the lupine contingent may have been on the bittersweet side, the Hair Bear Bunch, for some reason, decided to take in the camper life during the Minnesota State Fair forthcoming.
"The company couldn't get to be more interesting," Huckleberry Hound remarked, prompting Hair Bear to remark that, even with a state fairgrounds as the venue, "such couldn't hold a candle to Camp Volkswagen--which is what we call our bivouac by the side of such lakes we camp besides during our road trips and hold orgies for two or three nights beside same."
"Yeahhhhh," Square Bear chimed in sheepishly, "just to feel the ursine-type LOVE, and do I mean LOVE!!!"
"Apologies there, Snag and Huck," Hair Bear remarked, "but Square Bear is bound to get a little too ahead of himself on occasion, especially during the bear mating season and imagining the sort of love discoveries we're bound to go through!"
"So, at any event," Huck remarked, "just to give you some semblance of directions--"
At any rate, next time around will begin another year at the Minnesota State Fair with yours truly ... and with such interesting guests as the Hair Bear Bunch, even!

Consider this as being some lake up among Minnesota's World-Renowned and Far-Famed Ten Thousand Such. The kind where the likes of Peter Potamus' Travelling SCUBA Par-tay could be imagined spending a couple weeks in summer.

(On the other hand, I understand where Loopy De Loop, Hokey Wolf and Mildew Wolf are quite the diver types themselves--and the same could be said for Loopy's nephew Bon-Bon and Hokey's companion Ding-a-Ling, otherwise known as the Divin' Wolf Pups.)

Meanwhile, who among the Three Wolves (as in Loopy De Loop, Hokey Wolf and Mildew Wolf) would you imagine as most likely driving the van leading the lupine diving trio on diving adventures and experiences galore?

Idk how to say this well but reading Aristotle and Dante Dive Into the Waters of the World is like changing my brain chemistry.
It's the sequel to Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, and I need you to know that both books are not fantasy, they're just about two gay mexican-american teenage boys in the 80s. The titles are poetic descriptions of the main character's journey through discovering, accepting, and walking in his sexuality.
And I'm begging you to read them for a couple of really beautiful points:
1. The cultural aspects of it all; the poetic descriptions of love and intimacy that you don't commonly see from monolingual english writers, the involvement and importance of family and community in these journeys (less individualistic), and the dialogue these characters have about ethnic identity.
2. The historical aspects of it; the backdrop of the AIDS pandemic and how it affects the characters, their families, and the other connections they end up making from the loving families of other people who have died... and how it plays into them supporting the main characters, even in short term interactions.
Like I'm gonna be real with you, it's a lovely piece of queer literature and a really sweet YA story. It also has the main character trying to figure out how to connect to other people in general, as he learns how to connect to himself.
And maybe it's because that's particularly relevant to me now, but I think if I'd read these books earlier in life they would have saved me a lot of pain.

Or maybe picture the Three Wolves using this as a base for some diving-type escapades sometime.
