Pets are a commitment, and unless you’re a parent getting a puppy and know you’ll be the main caretaker for it, just don’t do it. Let that animal go to a home that is ready for it, not a surprise for someone who may not be happy with such a gift even if you really think they will. Most people want to be involved in the choice of pet, not surprised with one when they may not be ready.

This is a LIVE ANIMAL that has NEEDS YOU are expecting the receiver of this pet to COVER and not everyone can AFFORD to spend the TIME, MONEY or ENERGY to take care of an animal.

Animals live for YEARS or even DECADES. Do not put people in the predicament of having to either take care of said animal when they're not prepared or having to rehome it. There are already so many pets in shelters. DO NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THE PROBLEM. Not even for a cheap little Goldfish because EVERY animal, no matter how small or cheap at first continues to cost MONEY to take care of.

So unless someone specifically tells you that they want to receive a specific pet. DO NOT GET ONE FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
