The Vancouver Canucks locker room was always a hub of activity. Players joked, teased, and bonded as they prepared for practice. Among them was Quinn Hughes, the team's star defenseman. But today, as usual, Quinn's attention wasn't entirely on the game. His thoughts often wandered to his girlfriend, Y/N, who had captured his heart in a way nothing else ever had.

Quinn's teammates noticed this shift in his demeanor. Brock Boeser, his best friend and constant tormentor, was the first to call him out. "Hey, Hughesy, you daydreaming about Y/N again?" Brock teased, a wide grin spreading across his face.

Quinn blushed, shaking his head but unable to hide his smile. "Shut up, Boes," he mumbled, his ears turning red.

Elias Pettersson joined in, leaning against his locker. "Yeah, Quinn, you're turning into a real softie. We used to think you were tough."

The locker room erupted in laughter, and Quinn couldn't help but chuckle too. His teammates' teasing was all in good fun, and he knew they were happy for him. Y/N had brought a new light into his life, and everyone could see it.

Quinn's thoughts drifted back to the first time he met Y/N. It was at a charity event for the Canucks, and she was there as a volunteer. Quinn laughed, shaking his head. "I'm in. But I'm bringing Y/N with me."

Brock rolled his eyes playfully. "Of course you are. Just don't get all mushy on us, okay?"

"No promises," Quinn shot back, grinning.

At the restaurant, Y/N fit right in with the team, laughing at their jokes and sharing stories. The guys loved having her around, and Quinn couldn't have been happier. As the evening went on, he found himself watching her, amazed by how perfectly she had integrated into his life.

"Hey, Hughesy," Brock called out from across the table. "You know we're just giving you a hard time because we're happy for you, right?"

Quinn nodded, his heart full. "I know, Boes. And I appreciate it."

After dinner, as they walked back to their apartment, Quinn pulled Y/N close, kissing the top of her head. "Thanks for being amazing tonight. The guys really like you."

"They're great," Y/N replied, smiling up at him. "And I'm really happy to be a part of your life, Quinn."

"You are my life," he said softly, stopping to look into her eyes. "I love you, Y/N. More than words can say."

Tears filled her eyes, and she kissed him deeply, pouring all her love into that kiss. "I love you too, Quinn. So much."

As they continued their walk home, hand in hand, they knew that whatever challenges came their way, they would face them together. Their love was strong, and with each other's support, they could overcome anything. Quinn was a different man with Y/N in his life—softer, happier, and more complete. And he wouldn't have it any other way.

getting out of the car, you were immediately cold. but your excitement was enough to push you through and run through the snow.

nate followed closely behind you, hesitant to the idea of going out and chopping down a tree yourselves. his whole life he always stuck with a fake tree or one that you could buy at the hardware store. so this was a new experience for him.

"you ready?" you beamed, reaching out to take nathan's hand in yours.

he smiled back, intertwining his fingers in yours. "sure, but i'm cold so lets be quick."

playfully rolling your eyes, you leaned into press a kiss to his lips, "you're a hockey player you'll live."

nate laughs, "okay, okay." he smiles, before ushering you in the direction of the tree lot. "since this is important to you, you pick the tree."

immediately lighting up at the idea, you turn to your boyfriend with a bright smile. "really?" you ask with excitement reigning your voice.

"mhm," he smiles, nodding his head. "go find your prickly tree."

you're quick to start pulling him towards the smaller trees, reaching about 6 feet. you don't want to make the mistake of getting too tall of a tree, so you decided to play it safe.

eyes landing on the perfect tree, it's like it's enhanced and you fell in love. you look at it with the vision that it just fell from heaven and landed at your feet.

nate follows your gaze to the full, deep green tree. "babe. . ." he shys, "it's taller than me."

furrowing your brows at nathan, you meet him with a teasing grin. "everything's taller than you, sweetheart."

he glares at you, ready to make a snarky comment but your right so he refrains. "hey, that's not very holly jolly of you."

"okay well i want this one," you grin, hugging him tightly and meeting his eyes. gently swaying the two of you back and forth.

admiring his defeat, he lets out a breath of air. "fine we can get this one, go get one of the guys to cut it down." he says, nodding his head in the direction of where all the workers are.

"you can do it, your a big boy." you tease, tapping his shoulders.

"yeah but since im so short ill take longer but with your long legs you'll be faster." he giggles, running his hands up and down your arms.

"okay, okay! fine, you got me." you laugh, pressing a kiss to his lips before leaving him with the tree.

"Gosh, Trev, can you please calm down." The Oregon girl begged, making her boyfriend stop dead in his track and look at her with wild eyes.

"Easy for you to say! People are worshipping the ground you walk on, and trying to make mine collapse under me, babe!" Trevor exclaimed, waving his arms all around the place.

"Baby, just try to relax, okay?" The girl mumbled, standing up from her spot on the couch. Her hands cupped his cheek, pecking his lips lightly. "You deserve it." She smirked, making Trevor look at her like a mad lady.

"This isn't funny, Lan. They're gonna hunt me down when your album comes out!"

"You should've though about it before breaking my heart, loves." The girl responded after pressing another kiss to the boy's lips.

"Can't you just, like, tell people there's no more bad blood between us so they can leave me alone? Please." The hockey player begged, making the girl sigh before pressing her lips to the tip of his nose.

"I could. But then people would get suspicious, especially since we followed each other, T. If you really want me to, I can, but just think about it, okay?" The girl whispered, her thumbs rubbing circles on his cheekbones. The boy leaned into her touch, closer his eyes and leaning down to rest his forehead against hers.

"What if... what if we just said we're back together?"

"Trust me, Trevs, that'd only make the situation worse. People are gonna hate on you, and I'm gonna be getting called an idiot for getting back with you."

"We can say we're friends, I mean we followed each other back."

"You really want me to?" She asked softly. Trevor quickly shook his head yes against hers, making the girl sigh a bit.

"Do you not want to?" The boy asked, confused by her reaction.

"No, I do, I just don't want to make the situation worse and have people hate on you even more." She explained, her voice low as her hands moved from his face to the side of his neck.

"I'll be fine, baby, don't worry 'bout me."

alannaoregon i wanna start by saying how thankful and appreciative i am for all the love you guys have shown to my two new singles. you guys truly mean the world to me and i'll forever be thankful for my fanbase !!

my songs are a way for me to express my feelings when it's hard to talk about it. a lot of time i also end up dramatizing the way i feel just to make my songs better. i am a writer, and storyline is what i do. sometimes i write about relationships i've seen in movies or tv shows.

with that being said, death treats being made and sent to someone over my songs are not something that i will allow. i release my songs because i am proud of them, not so people can use it as an excuse to be rude, disrespectful, and mean to others.

kindness is a value that i hold dear to my heart, and seeing my people going after someone who still holds a very special place in my heart is not something that i will tolerate. trevor and i have spoken how our past and are on good terms. his permission was given for these songs to be released so that we could both move on from our relationship. we've both moved on and are very happy in our lives, please respect and accept that.

remember to always be kind and spread positivity to everyone around you, no matter what they might have done to you before, especially if you don't know the whole story.

yourusername welcome back to my postgame penalty box update show: WHO RUNS THE WORLD? QUINN! edition!

with his first assist on laffy taffy's goal, quinn got his 250th career point! this makes him the second fastest active defenseman to reach 250 points in under 300 games! he did it in 292 games, which equaled the 12th fewest of all time!

but let's not forget the other two assists tonight! his three assists tonight gave him his 48th career multi-point game, his 19th three point game, and his 14th three assists game! he now has 18 total career assists against nashville, which ties his total against the oilers for the most assists he has against any one team! (note that he's played the oilers more because of the 20-21 season where van played them 10 times)

john said that it's "a hughes lead in the east and the west" during the game, and here's why:

quinn has 11 points, so he is 1st for dmen, and tied for 7th overall! he also has a (+/-) of +11, which leads THE ENTIRE LEAGUE!

jack leads the entire league in points AND assists with 18 and 13, and luke is tied for second for all rookies in points and assists!

quinn and luke are tied for 4th in power play points for dmen overall, luke is 2nd for all rookies, and jack is tied for 1st for all skaters!

i’m so proud of my nuckies for their 5-2 win against the preds, my brothers, and most of all, my best friend💙 i love you way past infinity!

hello friend! i am sorry about your sad hockey feelings, but not too sorry because obviously i was on the other side rooting for the p.anthers the whole way 😅 but i do know how crushing it feels when the team you're rooting for loses, and i hope you can find comfort in your good memories from the season and start looking forward to next season soon!

re: leon's looming contract negotiations, under the cut because i got real chatty about it, whoops

i don't really have thoughts about what he SHOULD do, because my stance on player contracts is that they should always be based on what the player wants and thinks is best for themselves. even if it's not the ideal scenario for me personally! sometimes i'll be grumpy when a player's desires go against what EYE want but in my heart i am always in favor of workers having agency regarding their working conditions. in this house we love labor rights baby. i thought that leon did a very good job in his exit interview saying tactfully that he hasn't had time to think about his next contract yet (understandable!) and that it's going to take some time and discussions with both his agent and the o.ilers to figure out what happens next (and did a good job sticking to that talking point even as the e.dmonton media got quite frankly inappropriately aggressive about it).

i wouldn't blame leon if he wants to wait until the entire next season is over to decide what to do. the worst they could do is trade him at the deadline because they're mad he won't commit, and i think that would be pretty beyond the pale LOL. if he pushes his contract negotiations out past next july 1, it's possible he and connor could negotiate at the same time, if that's something they want to do or think would be beneficial. the o.ilers are in a tough spot right now with how fully half their roster needs to be re-signed or let go — something they have to be super tactical about if they want to keep the caliber of team they had this season — and then bouch's contract is up the same time as leon's, and that kid deserves a big payday, and then obviously they'll need the money available to re-sign connor the next year. even with the salary cap going up a significant amount, i can see there being concern in leon's camp about the o.ilers having the ability to pay him what he's worth. he is already grossly underpaid and even wanting to stay there is only so much of a discount a player of his caliber can conscionably allow a team.

i do think he loves his teammates in e.dmonton. he loves playing with connor. those are definitely things that matter when it comes to contract negotiations, too. i also think that making it to the scf this year puts him under unique pressure to stay (which is another reason he might want to wait until after the coming season to figure out his next move! it would not be strange at all if he did; so many players do their contract crap in the off-season anyway!) but obviously it's also not out of the question that the o.ilers make a concerted effort to get him the contract he wants and get it done early so everyone can relax, lol.

i personally wouldn't hate seeing him play somewhere else (excluding on teams i hate, obvs), which i know sounds like sacrilege but it's for the totally selfish reason of i just so rarely root for the o.ilers and i think it'd be fun for ME to have him on a team i'm more all-in on, lol. it's truly nothing against (most of) the o.ilers players, they have some players that i'm super fond of! and some good narratives going on up there too! but my deep and ceaseless loathing of daryl k.atz easily outstrips all of that and is my unwavering guiding star here. fuck that guy fr.

so tl;dr i hope that whatever leon does is what he wants and what feels right to him. a lot of people are going to have a lot of opinions about what he should do but we don't know what's in his heart! i hope the o.ilers are respectful of the process and of whatever time he needs to take to decide, whether it's like two weeks or all season.
