The prime hockey documentary, "FACEOFF" trailer is very reminiscent of "Drive to Survive" trailers, which hey, made by the same people, and that series made F1 a fucking thing in the US. So, they know what they are doing. I guess.

I'm excited and gonna binge that show as soon as it drops. Also, as an avid watcher of DTS, and being into F1 this part year. A few things.

This show is made for the passerby, bcos fans of hockey will watch this show anyway. This is a giant marketing exercise to try and get more attention & viewers on hockey. Considering F1 exploded in US bcos of DTS. I don't think it will be as big as DTS but I think the NHL will get some new fans of the sport as a consequence.

Be prepared to be angry every episode and season (if we get more than one) bcos the production company will CREATE drama, will follow certain players over others bcos of narrative/charisma etc.

It is the first season, the reason you might not see your team or your fav might be bcos they chose NOT to participate. And are sitting back to see how S1 is received. Or they might not want the attention that the show might bring if it is even 10% as popular as DTS.

Just enjoy the access we are going to get. Bcos NHL & players are fucking notorious for not sharing shit. I'm hoping to get some good behind the scenes management decisions etc. I WANT ACCESS.

worth mentioning that all the netflix sports docuseries aren’t actually like. documentaries. there’s no story. they’re not meant to be investigative. no part of it is set up to be critical of anything or put anyone in a bad light. they’re more like reality tv shows. or perhaps commercials.

it would NOT be weird to go alone i think you’d have a BALL. obviously i can only speak for myself and for cota (who knows what differences silverstone has, esp considering i didn’t go alone and i’m white so it’s a different convo) but i didn’t feel unsafe at ALL and pretty much everyone i met and interacted with in person was really nice ! i WILL say there are maybe a couple of things to be aware of coming in: number one it’s gonna be VERY loud. not just from the motorcycles (though i would bring earplugs just in case, quali was unrelenting) but also just from the shear crush of people. if you don’t do well in crowds just be aware it’s gonna be super crowded etc, especially for the main race… cota had some sensory rooms if ya need, and the grassy spaces helped, but it was genuinely a circus on sunday so be AWARE ! and number two is like. okay it’s a sports crowd. and i am a FIRM believer in the right to be a hater in sports. but that also means (ESPECIALLY with marc marquez #controversialqueen that he is) that the people around you are probablyyyyy going to say something at some point that’s gonna make you suck on your teeth a little bit. bite your tongue etc. so be prepared for that as well ! bitches be stupid ! you just can’t let the stupid bitches get you down !

the producers of drive to survive being in charge of this show is so deeply unserious. hopefully they have learned from their previous missteps but somehow i doubt it. they’re going to make the leafs bench incident look like a civil war.
