Leave children/young adults alone to enjoy their hobby horsing.

And you know what? Even the adults. Leave them alone. It's just horse LARP and it's clearly an inclusive and welcoming community of creative (and usually neurodivergent) people so leave them alone.

I know the community is very small if even existent on Tumblr, but for all of my hobby horsers, please do not forget to walk at your normal pace to cool down after practicing and especially competing.

Giving yourself time to slow your heart rate by walking like normal is much easier on your heart, joints, and muscles.

Also do not forget to take your vitamins, eat, and drink water! You are using your body in a strenuous way, and you need to take care of yourself!

We are using our legs like a horse, while only having two of them instead of four. If you would expect a horse to get proper diet and plenty of water, do the same for yourself!

Zosiol aka kht.galaktyka has a cool & unusual hobby I never heard of before, which is hobby horsing! She made the horse pictured here herself, as well as many others, that's rad. So naturally, I had to draw a lil piece as homage

I used to do this when I was younger, up to 12 if I remember correctly. I would've continued but those jumps were probably the thing that made me have symptoms of EDS and now I can't run. It's a really immersive and multitalent hobby since you usually make those horses yourself, one took about 3 hours to make by hand for me. You gotta learn to move to a rhythm with precision and elegance if you wanna do drassage (the horse dance part), count your steps and calculate how many and long steps you need to jump those hights + how to land safely. You may have seen a horse refuse a jump right before it and that can actually happen to you if you mess up running up to the fence. It's like your brain realized how high the fence is and your legs stop working before you realize it, making you crash onto it. There's a reason Finland has national level championships in hobby horsing.

Genuine question here: What’s the difference between hobby-horsing and hurdles, other than the existence of the hobby horse thing (sorry, don’t know the actual term for it). I don’t mean to offend anyone or make fun of anything, they just look like exactly the same thing to me

Cute New Year season outfit pairing kimono and obi patterned with all kind of toys - some shaped like jûnishi (Chinese zodiac animals).

Obi shows clapper toys shaped like shishi (lion, mimicking those used for shishimai/lion dances), koma (tops), and kushi (combs).

Kimono has inu-hariko (dog figurine), jûnishi-themed pull toys and figurines (example with tiger ones), harukoma/takeuma (hobby horse), anesama-ningyô (paper based), temari (ball), tsuzumi (hand drum), suzu (bell), etc!
