The second coffee painting I ever did was of Nori the Dwarf. I loved painting the intricate hair, and the contrasting leather and suede of the clothes, but I had yet to find the method I now use with light and contrast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I gifted the original painting to Jed Brophy, who played Nori in the hobbit trilogy. A year later, we met again at another convention, and ended up on the same plane from Sweden to London for the red carpet premiere of Battle of the Five Armies. Afterwards, I went straight to New Zealand for a few weeks of Hobbity goodness, and managed to run into him again by chance while in Wellington 😅

He sure seems to be a big Beecake fan, but who can blame him? 😂

My dear LOTR and Hobbit fandom. My heart is still with you no matter how many years pass by❤️❤️❤️ September 2nd will be the 50th anniversary of Tolkien's death so I decided to do a mural in his memory in this year's Bulgarian mural festival in Staro Zhelezare🌺🦎

I was apprehensive to eat mushrooms at someone's house yesterday, as I'd never tried them, but I said, "For Frodo," and it's strange how much difference that made.

Tolkien Fandom Event Calendar
Recently I’ve received some asks about events/weeks in the Tolkien fandom, so I thought I’d compile a list of those that I know about. This is not exhaustive, and dates are subject to change by the organizers of these events!
Other blogs you can check out are @tolkieneventsblog and @tolkienfandomevents, though I’m not sure how active those are. The @silmarillionwritersguild Discord also has a channel dedicated to signal boosts for all sorts of Tolkien-related & general fandom happenings, which is another excellent way to keep up with fandom goings-on.
Want to run your own event? Here’s some of my tips!
If your event is not on here and you’d like it to be, let me know and I can add it :) Note: I will only add events that have announced dates!

Fic Finding Help
Does anyone know the fic or have it saved of Bilbo and Thorin getting married back in the mountain with Dis’ help? Dis is kinda assigned to help Bilbo and his little party prepare for the actual ceremony and make sure nothing goes wrong. I believe Frodo might have been in it and one of Bilbo’s cousins/family members? The party does fall down a little hole that goes to the mines and Dis helps them through it. There’s a scene where they need to get past some guards so Bilbo’s older cousin goes over and flirts with them which shocks everyone(I think it was said that Hobbits do this all the time). The ending is someone saying there’s hay in Dis’ hair and she oulls out her weapon furious that no one told her.
It was one of the first fanfics I ever read, but I think I was a guest on AO3 at the time, and didn’t know I could download fics.

There are a lot of fanfiction where Thorin’s company finds out Bilbo’s age and goes feral, as well as a fair where Bilbo isn’t fully a hobbit. What if we combine the two?
Bilbo Is a half hobbit who has learned to hide all his features and such, and no one knows about it. Probably Gandalf doesn’t even know for this AU to work well. So, when Bilbo’s parents die, he is a child in his species terms, but a full grown adult in the hobbit terms.
Then you add the fact that the company after finding out his age starts treating him like a child. He is actually treated like his own age for once.Something that happens when you are treated like your own age when you are so used to being treated like an adult? You Have a few little breakdowns about how you were never treated kindly, and get extremely attached.
Gandalf explains the age thing, and everyone goes back to treating him how they used to, maybe a few people either not being convinced or just straight up treating him a little worse because they think he lied to them.
Then fast forward to either Mirkwood or Beorn’s house, and they find out about the other half of the DNA and they feel so incredibly fucking guilty. Gandalf should be very guilty as well and they should be one of the few times where Gandalf seems more human.
I want Bilbo nervously explaining about his other side after he gets out and hoping that they won’t hate him. I want his explanation to be cut off by someone hugging him. I want the company to have some breakdown about it, especially with the Royals. Maybe Fili and Kiki had a good relationship with Bilbo, treating him like a little brother for a while until they found out about how hobbits aged, and then just stopped talking to him as much after. Maybe Thorin had yelled at Bilbo after he found out, accusing him of lying to them. maybe just the three of them have been acting shitty after being really close with him.
I just want comfort and then hurt/comfort with large amount of groveling

Fun with Fanon Fest: A Tolkien Fandom Mini-Event
Hello and welcome to the first Fun with Fanon Fest!
This event is a celebration of fanon and community storytelling in the Tolkien fandom! It was created to encourage the interaction of fans with the source material and each other, interrogating and uplifting how we create narratives together as a community.
Share your favorite bits of fanon! Give fanon your own spin! Tackle the questions posed or answered by fanon, and address them in a new way! Create your own counter-fanonical version of events!
Our event aims to celebrate collaborative creation by honoring and encouraging the interrogation of fanon concepts, whether by going “headcanon accepted!” or by saying “Wait, what if ___ instead?” We welcome both depictions of common fanon and fandom tropes, or offered alternative and inversions of the same. The more people joining in this collective conversation and sharing ideas, the better!
This is a 2-day mini-event occurring quarterly! Our first event is March 25-26. Our daily themes remain the same every event: Day 1 (Saturday) is Favorite Fanons, and Day 2 (Sunday) is Fanon Inversion.
We will also provide 4 prompts for each event, to get your brain working. Our current prompts are “Maglor = Lindir” and “Arkenstone = Silmaril,” and we’ll be adding two more in the weeks to come! If you want to submit an idea for those prompts, you can do that here!
Check out our FAQ for more info, and have fun!!

there is criminally little The Hobbit fanfics that are centered around Hobbit culture rather then Dwarf culture. ofc i love fics that r centered around both or js dwarf culture, but like- sometimes a (maybe/sometimes/half) girl is js craving that good ol’ hobbit culture n lore, yk???
