May I ask what is your favorite scene that you’ve written?

In addition, least favorite?

That's a complicated one, I like so many, but I think one I keep coming back to is when Asha and Aster first meet, and Aster gets attacked by Valentino, and when that doesn't work they encourage the baby goat to try again.

I love this scene because I managed to fully encapsulate what Aster is all about, he encourages people to follow their dreams and keep trying, even if it's hard, and that's something he learned by watching Asha.

And then when that gesture is what makes Asha trust him and she shyly walks closer and gives him a little wave UUUGHHH I was possessed the day I wrote that scene because I don't know how I came up with something so sweet!

And for least favorite... Hmmm I'd say I don't have a scene I actively hate, but I can say the one thing that made me the most uncomfy to write was the scene Magnifico and Amaya are about to grant Asha's cursed wish to turn her into their obedient princess. Yeah Saph I know in your rewrite Asha is their daughter, and thats really cool, but for me that's like the absolute nightmare scenario, and just imagining how scared Asha was feeling in that moment made me lose sleep.

🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.

HMMM i've never really thought about this tbh...i do tend to write a lot of romance bc i'm a sucker for that, and love including themes like overcoming obstacles (i blame the whole 'fight god' shtick going on with jrpgs bc i ate that shit right up) or the struggle with destiny (free will vs predetermination). struggling and fighting is such a big part of character development and plot and i love thinking about different ways this can be portrayed depending on the character(s)

i also love including a lot of introspection and internal thoughts bc i enjoy diving into the thoughts and ideas of characters!! what they're feeling or thinking at a certain time, their justifications and motivations--it's soo important to me, esp if i want to include that sweet sweet yearning,,

i am proud of how much ive written cumulatively tho, bc apparently i have like 50k words on my ao3 account alone, and although id say about half of that is from rp/collab fics and not written on my own, i still have a good amount that i did write by myself! not to mention i dont post all of my writing onto ao3, so there's a lot of wips in my drive and uh...old fics on my ffn account LMAO (i do not perceive them) that i havent accounted for

ik word count doesnt mean anything, but i do consider it to be evidence of the fact that ive written. a reflection of how much ive come up with? id like to write again once im in the mood again and add to this and maybe one day, ill finally finish a chapter fic (even if it's short!)

it depends on what i'm writing about, but when i do, i spend an embarrassing amount of time 😭 ive spent hours reading wiki articles for franchises i know enough about bc i like rereading things, or i accidentally wind up going to other pages and reading about them. it's not too bad tho bc sometimes ill wind up learning something new, clarifying a misconception, or just discover something i flat-out missed

on the other hand, ill sometimes just go 'fuck it we ball' bc ik i spend a little too much time researching that i wind up not writing at all, or it winds up being really complicated and i'm not able to understand it well enough to correctly convey in my writing

🤩 Who is your favorite character to write?

OH MAN this is kinda hard...but im gonna say it's probably alex, simply bc he's literally THE culmination of things that i love from other characters (archetype, features, that kinda thing). i love putting him through a lot and pushing his development. plus, the way he is makes it easy for me to bully him (affectionate) while also being able to get in my fix of angst

i just don't enjoy writing how he speaks bc i have this nebulous idea of what i want for his speech pattern, yet i'm not quite able to execute it in a way i like 😭 i'm p sure this is bc i love him a lot and want to be perfect with how i portray him, so thats holding me back

probably if i finish a fic. im still at the point where i dont consistently finish that many pieces so id like to at least be able to do that 😭

otherwise, if im liking my writing and how the fic's coming along, id consider that to be successful too and that i'm doing the right thing so far!

How I feel about this character: i have complicated feelings abt him ig? i think he's really funny and i enjoy him as a character but in general i dislike the teacher/student tropes in shoujo manga. but as mikan's dad i LOVE him omg he's dead but unhinged

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: again thats a little complicated for me. i tend to imagine him with yuka as mikan's parents but he's not my favorite of yuka's love interests... for reasons ive already described and also bc shiki is right there. but i rly dont ship anybody ELSE with him so... not much for me to say here

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: i really like his relationship with little persona. very sweet. makes me cry. ALSO mikan falling out of the window and shouting out for him breaks my heart... he instantly says "mikan..." like how do u know this... he loves his daughter before he even knows shes been conceived ;-; wish he'd had a chance to be a dad to her (and disapprove of natsume who doesnt give a shit about his approval bc he already won yuka's lmao)

My unpopular opinion about this character: hmmm i cant say this is unpopular bc i actually havent seen a lot of discussion on izumi at all in the fandom but i think its okay to like him while also being critical of the teacher/student thing. i think he's fun for the most part and was obviously an important and GOOD teacher to the students (again. for the MOST part). from what i can tell he's the last teacher to actually care about the dangerous ability students and try to help them. he did his best to get all of them on fewer missions, talked to them, acted as a quasi-therapist to them, and tried to keep them away from the esp. no teacher since has done that and bc of that i do love him so much!! ah izumi. ur "influence" on everyone did not carry on to the teachers ig

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i wish he'd been able to talk with mikan. his little run in with her when she fell out of the window was really heartbreaking but he didn't know she was his daughter and she only said one word at the end there. it would have been nice to see them interacting ;-;

Favorite friendship for this character: jinnoooO. izumi is the only person in the whole world that jinno ever cared about (except for his wife and kids i guess) and i love rivalry friendships (see my thoughts on mikan and permy lol)

nana rewatch notes- episode 12

-this episode starts with hachi telling us that ever since she was a kid, all she wanted was to “become a beautiful bride”. there was nothing else that she wanted to be. this has to do with a “beautiful bride” symbolizing happiness/the ideal way to be happy and avoid loneliness. again i think hachi sees dependency on others as a way to avoid loneliness. as a result she rushes into relationships and mold herself into whatever need be to keep the relationship afloat. as we see with shoji, she then realizes she doesn’t end up feeling happy or fulfilled in the relationship.

-before this, hachi says “im straying from the subject, but please bear with me.” isn’t this a part of her narration to nana? who is hachi’s audience? WHAT IS THE SUBJECT? Most of hachi’s reflective narration is about her relationship with nana and/or what happened between them- so maybe thats why she thinks she’s straying from the subject, but that also means she intentionally included this bit--who does she want to know this? why??? so much to think about.

-hachi’s style is constantly changing…gemini rising

i thought jiang yanli jiang cheng and wei wuxian forcing themselves to escape yunmeng barely holding on after their parents are killed was going to be the height of pain in this show. ha. 

the family dynamics in general on this showwwww, both blood/ adopted/ found families, brotherly bonds and lifelong friendships just. rly. truly. fucked me up. theyre all so important and complicated and well rounded and beautiful and tragic

and beyond being a Win For the Gays im so glad the relationships w wwx and jiang yanli/ wen qing were NOT changed from platonic bc they are so much better like that imo. like maybe if we didnt Live In A Society it wouldnt be so, but the fact wwx and others can love and value them so much and theres nothing romantic or sexual abt it is like. so refreshing. especially @ jyl, with the way he and jc are overprotective of her and shes such a nurturing/care taker figure for them, it would just not vibe as well if they made it romantic

i love that this is a story abt Wei Wuxian, the Yiling Patriarch aka Actual Satan/Boogey Man/Village With/Public Enemy Number One , my dude is literally a necromancer who only dresses in black and has evil smokey black tendrils wafting out of him, but the really edgy one is still jiang cheng, pastel purple fashion icon

and speaking of best/worst siblings wei wuxian and jiang cheng *immediately starts crying*

and jiang cheng.  being the tough love uncle . having raised the yunmeng jiang clan from the rubble all alone, his whole family dead, some of it on the blame of his own brother, his siblings, his closest friends gone.......and only jin ling there needing his guidance. 

THE PARALLEL BETWEEN JIN LING BEING A LIFELINE FOR JIANG CHENG AND A-YUAN FOR LAN WANGJI AFTER THE BATTLE AT THE NIGHTLESS CITY

and like . the fact! that lwj and jc dislike each other!!. jc projects blame onto him for wwx both “leaving” him and indirectly causing their families deaths and when hes so consumed by it he makes wwx an enemy, lwj is there now? trying to protect him?? and lwj, who can never understand the pain that wwx , indirectly or not put jc through, but who was right there when jc tried to kill him and will never allow him to hurt wwx again. and how they like. in a way project blame of their tragedies onto each other while dealing with some type of survivor guilt and in their own way still loving wwx through it all???  amd in way its kind of fundamentally selfish but also tragically understandable? and like when u put it against the fact that after he disappears during the sunshot campaign they were looking for him together and fought together??

JUST. THE CHARACTERS. AND THE RELATIONSHIPS IN THIS. MAN. UGH. GOD. 

and like i think thats what makes it so good? its such a sad and painful and violent story, edgy even, but its compelling bc at the center of it there are all of these relationships and different types of love and hope and. :( i love it

Hope for the future

OK so the first theory is Sunghoon being the Settings which is like obvious lmao everyone is thinking the same thing sjshshshsjjs When Hee talked about Setting and Sunghoon asked if Hee saw the messages and when he said no Sunghoon was like "good, for you I mean" 👀 that was suspicious. He was wearing white at the party. His one sided beef with Yn? Like dude what's the reason? Also the messages between Heeseung and Beomgyu? The way Beomgyu said mhm to Heeseungs message about Sunghoon and Yn not knowing each other and Sunghoon having beef with Yn and now we know for sure that Beomgyu knows who the setting is? It's just adding fuel to the fire ngl. Also the way Yn is trying to keep Setting as secret just makes me think that it's someone Heeseung (and Jay) shouldn't know thats why I was always suspicious of Sunghoon.

And my 2nd theory is a little complicated bc my first candidate was Soobin. I mean you always said how Yn wasn't into younger boys and that was an important hint. OH right. so most of the plot decisions were made super concretely. like pre breakup arc in the nightmares chapters (which came out so much worse than i intended alkdjksjad;glksjg) when tess and joel talk about ellie Knowing (also legit it is such a trip to me that you dont know the context of that. a trip in a good way) she says we every time and he only ever says i even when she points out that this would affect both of them, and at one point i think he says that tess doesnt understand baseless violence which is 100% untrue, and then there's a bunch of window imagery i put in starting there because im a freak. so like For Once In My Life a lot of this was as planned as it could be. on occasion there's been Plot Revelations that get wedged in (the radio interlude chapter, which was a bit of an inelegant seam between prewritten things that didnt mesh well) but for the most part ive got tits out into every decision. like tess and ellie disagreeing about joel's choice was very planned though i imagine that kind of conversation could be executed many different ways i had my one way and stuck to it. so either way

where was i going with this. did i have a point.

OKAY. let's see. i think one of the big ~emotional beats~ so to speak was the ambush chapter and i think that's the favorite because that's usually where people comment if i remember correctly and initially i wasnt going to go with that tone At All haha. years ago i wrote everyday domestic scenes of mulder and scully from x files and had it all on this blog and it was plotless but largely in the same overarching universe (i say as if it was legit ever That Deep) and after writing this as a oneshot and being like you know? Kind of feel like doing that again. i figured i would just follow the same largely plotless path of legit just domesticity and leave it at that. and i think the first like five chapters are tonally different from the rest because i'd never really intended for it to have plot or really any depth whatsoever. in the end like. How do i say this in a way that wont be interpreted as uppity or something asldkjgalsdgjk like. when i did those mulder scully scenes i was very much a beginner and i think i didnt realize just how inherent that beginner-ness was to the concept itself. which isnt a bad thing! like people had fun with those so far as i remember. bizarrely enough i think people might still read those which. cringe. but you kno!!! but with a few years of distance from that kind of concept i think it was hard for me to Not try something else. especially with this universe in which it's just dense with storytelling opportunity. and also i felt as if the first few chapters were just like super super lighthearted and i wanted some angst factor. which is why in the end the angst factor plot itself is flimsy as fuck. like i did not care WHY they got attacked i just wanted that sweet sweet hurt/comfort cup of tea u feel. and after that i didnt really go for the plot too much But i did edge toward it a lot more. like i mean ultimately this is a romance like it was not intended to be plot heavy ever But it's more plot heavy than it couldve been. had i actually written it as i'd intended from the start i think it wouldve gotten old really fast. like nothing but lighthearted domesticity doesnt make sense in this context. for the first few chapters it doesnt necessarily kill the whole thing imo because like. that's the first few chapters. but after then if there was never any ~deeper thoughts~ i think it wouldve gotten reductive super fast.

hmmm what else. Because i am deciding to talk too much on the internet now.

oh in theory the whole breakup arc couldve been omitted and now in retrospect im like it's hilarious that like the next chapter after they got married i immediately peppered in hints that they would break up lkajsdglaksjgdlkj like wow. That lasted a long time. but like i mean i think with them it fits that they would do something like get married before they even said that they loved each other. like i can see them doing a massive workaround instead of doing a small and simple but vulnerable thing. makes sense 2 me. and like they definitely couldve stuck together in the end but 1 theres interesting storytelling in how maybe joel was too stubborn or maybe they grew apart in certain ways or blah blah blah and 2 I JUST LOVE A GOOD BREAKUP AND THEN RETURNING TO EACH OTHER ARC OKAAAAAAAAAY. legit. favorite trope. if i ever experienced that in real life i would claw my eyes out but in fiction it makes me FERALLLL. and also like i mean i lov these two for their dumb quirks but also like it would be a lil wrong to say there wouldnt be consequences for like. Not communicating haha. also again like the world this game is put in is so full of storytelling opportunities and im like Must Take Them All. like joel is stubborn as hell and shuts down when he's overwhelmed and there is growth in the first game (and in the second too but thats not really shown as much and is more left for the player to fill in the gaps i think) but also i think it would be super easy to regress in that sense and i had fun with putting him in those situations. and it's also super fun to have an additional person for the joel and ellie plots to bounce off of. like joel and ellie are two very stubborn people and having an extra person there to be like You Blithering Idiots has been a good time. im getting sidetracked. like it was fun to answer the question of how these two in a marriage neither of them can fully substantiate would communicate in hard times and the answer i personally found was that they both would end up breaking things. which was fun to write!!!!!!!!! but in theory couldve been prevented. maybe i just cant imagine this a different way haha. like Joel And Tess Learn Healthy Communication Skills Over Time. am i mean for saying that doesnt sound probable aldskjgalskdjgslkgj

OH LMAO THE MARRIAGE PART. that was also a big decision i guess. i wouldnt make it go differently alksdjglasdjg like. i definitely couldve written the context around that many different ways bc again this whole is full of opportunity But a frankly premature wedding just feels right to me. especially with like going from being stuck on survival to being safe for the first time in decades. and then having that sense of safety get boring and wondering why there was that super fast wedding in the first place. cant really imagine it going differently

Some negative traits about me… I can be quite a jealous person. And I have these sort of sad episodes? I’ll kind of stay in my head and overthink waaayyy too much so that’s not fun. Oh another thing, I usually have a hard time telling when I should back off? Like I constantly worry about if I’m being ‘too much’ or if I should give my partner or friends some space. Some things I enjoy,,, I don't do much besides work, but when I have free time I enjoy writing for my friend, story-based video games, and I really like cooking. When I have time to relax, I like to read manga and Harry potter, I don’t really read many new books anymore. Kinda random but I also enjoy knitting too lol. My hogwarts house is Slytherin, and I’m a capricorn :)

My music taste is… a bit complicated. On one hand, half of my playlist is Steven Universe songs, then I have stuff at every end of the spectrum like Dean Martin, Mother Mother, Savage Ga$p, Freddie Dredd, Corpse Husband, and a variety of J-Pop artists (don’t come for me, J-Pop is better than K-Pop), and a few random sorta indie songs scattered around my playlist. Something I’d avoid would be a disrespect of others boundaries, a really judgy person, like someone who hates on others or something they do for literally no reason, and someone who’s unnecessarily hateful to babies/toddlers/kids. Idk that one just bothers me a lot lol. And someone who gets frustrated easily, I grew up in a toxic and abusive household so thats a no go for me.

Okay, so my hero name is Hallucino! Similar to Aizawa, my quirk activates when I look at/lock eyes with someone and the effect drops when I blink. So once they’re under the effects of my quirk, I can make them hallucinate and see any sort of setting I want. My signature setting/move is called Vertigo, it’s sort of a trippy LSD setting? So it makes the person nauseous and, well, like they have vertigo. I can create people in the hallucination, but it really wears me out and gives me a migraine. When they’re in that state they can't see the real world, and can faintly hear, but they can feel everything in the outside world. Anyways I think my quirk’s pretty damn cool.

Why I like them:

sometimes ur 13 and see a cute girl in a manga and go AHHH HEART EEEEYES and thats just that. also i rly just love characters who are kinda annoying on purpose, and noticing that it seems she was left out of the loop of the end goal the whole time (thinking itd be good for eriol if yue died, and questioning why he bothers creating life or death situations if he’s not ever going thru w them...) combined with that I AM HERE!! I AM HERE!!!! energy sort of gives it depth, you know? and on her and spinel’s parts, knowing you were created to replace the person before you must be roughhhh!!!

Why I don’t:

this isnt her fault at all but i wish the manga left it at, if NEED be, *one* comment from spinel abt her ~girl clothes~, we rly dont need more than one (if we even needed that, but i feel like saying ‘ok take it again’ in terms of introducing a trans character has the potential to go worse not better). also i think clear card has no idea what to do with her, or i guess exposed that the story didn’t always know quite what to do with her. she was always evil and silly but the silly was built ON the evil like a foundation? so now that its gone she sort of flounders i think. i wish we got to have more of a rounded view of her. but its ok i can do it myself in my brain. she’s a very “potential not utilized” character sometimes. also she’s like super down with murder so i guess that’s not great lmao. i hope in clear card sometime shes like why dont we just kill kaito? with a gun? and everyones like WHAT and shes like what.....it’d solve our problem....

hear me out but i think with her interest in movie direction she should chat more with tomoyo. also spinel of course!! i think her and spinel are being played against each other for drama (in a similar way to kero and yue), that their dynamic of Smart One and Silly One have been sort of externally given to them, but once they catch on to that they can overcome it and grow close. this is where i also put my complicated web of headcanon that while kero and yue never thought of themselves as related to clow (and vice versa), ruby in particular thinks of eriol as her father (and spinel as her brother). this is not something eriol intended, he’d much much rather be seen as a Mentor than a Relative (its about having a little distance even in your enmeshment, yknow!) but ruby sort of went for it and he was like...okay thats kind of nice i guess? it’s good to stop at each plate at the buffet of types of connection!
